Kaspersky anti-virus personal and system shield problem

Question: Kaspersky anti-virus personal and system shield problem

Hey, i posted in the web and email section of this forum about ie7 on my laptop not wanting to connect to the internet, but i am connected.

i found the problem. It was the kaspersky anti-viris personal and system shield.

Everytime i want to launch the ie7, i have to close these two programs.

Is there anyone esle using these softwares?

How do i fix it to allow ie7 to run without closing the program?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I'm having a really annoying problem... I don't know how, but this fake anti-virus or whatever just popped up from nowhere, I tried to remove it manually, and now I don't know what to do, because loads of trojans are on my pc, and I can't remove them... One trojan that keeps appearing ~(AVG detection)~ is conhost.exe (Agent_r.AOB) Something like that. I used Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Iobit Malware Fighter, AVG Internet Security 2011, Spybot Search & Destroy, I've used advanced system care (to fix registry), I deleted some registry values, etc etc... But on "c:\Windows\temp\" it keeps appearing some files that might be related to this thing... By the way, I found a serial code on the net to make that thing ~(Personal Shield Pro)~ stop popping out telling my pc was full of trojans, adwares, spywares, virus etc etc. (It stopped, but something is working in the background). Can some one Help me please?I've already downloaded OTL and started scanning with the custom scan: "%systemroot%\system32\*.dll/locked files".Thank you for your help,DuDaXI have the scan completed, I'm going to send now the logsOTL logfile created on: 30-08-2011 21:16:59 - Run 1OTL by OldTimer - Version Folder = C:\Documents and Settings\JoDaX\DesktopWindows XP Media Center Edition Service Pack 3 (Version = 5.1.2600) - Type = NTWorkstationInternet Explorer (Version = )Locale: 00000816 | Country: Portuga... Or can I use it in conjunction with my Avast?

Answer:Can Kaspersky System Checker Be Used As The Only Anti Virus?

It's a stand alone scanner - just like Malwarebytes Free is a stand alone scanner. They are not real-time AV programs. That Kaspersky System Checker doesn't even actually install. So yes you can use it but you still need Avast in real-time installed protection mode.

hello therei recently installed Kaspersky anti virus, on my windows xp sp2. However the Internet Explore seems to slow down after 20mins or so. So bad that i cannot even open a web page. But when i restart my computer it seems to work fine again for 20mins then the problem starts again. Is there something i should do to configure this?many thankszincy

Answer:Kaspersky anti virus problem

I've had a similar, but not necessarily the same, problem with "e.scan" which is "powered by Kaspersky" (I've posted this today under "Compatability problems"). Not only did my internet slow down, but my system ran at 50% speed (and, like you, it got worse after 20 mins). It seems to have been a compatability problem. After spending two days trying to solve this, I ended up removing the e.scan security suite - disappointing, since I liked it - and reverted back to my original anti-virus (AVG). The only good thing that came out of this was that e.scan couldn't find anything that AVG had missed. My problem might not be the same as yours, but my suggestion is that you look for anything that might be in conflict with your Kaspersky (and/or e-mail them at their support, if you think that'll help, with a list of your other protections). It's time someone came up with a freeware utility entitled "ConflictResolver".Good luck.

I'm not sure what information to provide to you so I'll start with the problem.

My brother has Kaspersky Internet Security version 14.0.0 4651(g). For the first time, the File Anti Virus was disabled. We tried to enable by clicking on the "enable" button but nothing happened. It continues to say that it's disabled. He has a HP laptop & windows 8.

Please ask me the necessary questions so that I can give you whatever information you need to help.

I know this isn't a very thorough request but I appreciate any assistance.

Thank you,

Source - Windows 7 Kaspersky Lab releases technical preview of Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows 7 Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management systems, announces the release of a technical prototype of Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows 7.
Windows 7 is the next release of the Microsoft Windows operating system which will replace Windows Vista and is a step forward in the development of Microsoft operating systems. The new OS will incorporate enhanced reliability, greater efficiency, an improved interface and extended working features both in global and local information networks.
The technical preview is a complex solution for securing computers running under Windows 7. The prototype includes not only an antivirus component but an effective and fully functional firewall and anti-spam filter.
At the heart of the new technical prototype is Kaspersky Lab?s new antivirus engine which is even more effective at detecting malicious programs than its predecessor. The new engine dramatically increases system scanning speed thanks to improved processing of objects and optimized use of system resources, particularly on dual- and quad-core processor platforms. The unique product architecture ensures high productivity and one of the lowest uses of system resources in the industry.

Hello -

I don't have my logs prep'd yet. You'll see why. I have my brother-in-law's XP Pro desktop - Intel core, 1gB RAM, two drives: C:\ 7gB left and D:\Storage about 30% full. C is too full, I know. Two user accounts, both admins. Using Symantec Enpoint 11.6.

I used the self help section and ran RKill then MBAM in safe mode as normal mode was useless. Cleaned off 20 infections using his account. Looked promising but it was way slow. So slow, I couldn't get it to shut down or restart. Disk always being accessed. Went to Safe Mode - attempted to chkdsk D: (Completed) and C: (had to reschedule) but no shut down. Hard reset, no chkdsk, hangs at the desktop. Hard reset. Attempted Safe Mode, it hangs at MUP.sys and will go no further. I used ERD to call a restore point (the only one available) back to Aug 13. It came back in normal mode. This time I launched wife's account wanting to at least get chkdsk to run on C: The infection is also on her profile. That was my mistake. So now, it will boot sometimes and sometimes not.

So, rather than chase my tail, I thought I'd come here (as I've done before) and ask for some help.

So, we do have data backed up. Can't quite get normal Windows to run as patient as we might be and it looks like Safe Mode is flumoxed.
I'll await further instructions.

Hi Geeks. Hope you're all having a geeky day! Anyhow, I searched the boards here pretty thoroughly and couldn't find any Major Geek opinions of the Kaspersky Active Virus Shield now being offered free by AOL. I went to (another place) and read a bunch of ops, but was hoping for some 'critiques from the geeks.' (BTW I just coined that phrase.) I've read about licensing probs, and internet access probs after install, so I'm not gonna uninstall my AVG free just yet. Thanks in advance for any input.

Answer:Opinions on Kaspersky Active Virus Shield free

Kaspersky is a good program! I'm a little confused though! I thought AOL packaged McAfee as their antivirus program.

However, I would avoid anything that has been integrated into AOL's software. You would be better off having the real full package of software from the original creator.

My HpCompaq laptop is infected with a virus that is blocking multiple anti-spyware software, Vista updates, and even my Kaspersky anti-virus.

1) The virus does not allow me to access websites to download anti-spyware nor access the windows update site.

- Spybot - Cannot install as access to the website is blocked during installation

The Shield 2004 anti virus software by Nextailse has the most annoying marketing spam, pop up campaign of any company advertising on the web. I am convinced that they have downloaded a virus to my computer, they are un-ethical sub human nats. Any time that I open one of my Mcaffee updates I get bombarded with 10 to 20 pop ups it brings my cable connection to a crawl- it is at least a 15 minute excersise to get all of the pop ups eliminated and back to what I was doing.

How can they expect me to have any interest at all in purchasing their product when this is their tactic. I know they are not the only company guilty of prctices that drive us all crazy but at some point we need to band together and target some of these companies to get them to stop this practice- I have sent some **%$$ emails and left some very vul;gar voicemails to these guys but I am so pissed at them I would like to do something (legal) that will loose them sales or discredit their product and tactics- any suggestions? I seached his machined and found no trace, even in hidden folders/files. As he was without an AV I installed AVG 9, during installation AVG found Shields deluxe and asked me to uninstall or skip. As it was not possible to uninstall it, I 'skipped' and he now has AVG up and running. I ran Hijackthis and it found two instances of Shields Deluxe, but when I posted the log the instances had vanished!!!I have seached the internet for a way of un-installing SD and was horrified by the huge number of complaints about this rogue. Hello Y'all
I am having issues with my Mother's PC. She installed a Kaspersky trial (she thought she was installing the full version) and at the end of the trial it would not let her upgrade it (kept having errors). So the decision was made to uninstall the Kaspersky. And that was the beginning of my headache.
I uninstalled through Control Panel and then went through BC and used the Revo Uninstaller Pro to get anything left after I was still getting messages that the AV was still on the PC. I thought that it had gotten everything until today when my Mom tried to turn on Windows Defender and it brought up a pop up that says "Security Center can't turn on Windows Defender. Please try again later."
So I thought that if she couldn't use Win Defender that I would put a different AV on her PC. I tried to install "AVG Anti Virus FREE" so she would have something on her computer and it said that Kaspersky was still on the computer. I did a search of the PC through Windows Explorer and it did not turn up anything.
Can someone please help me to get this dad-gum program off of my Mom's computer and get Windows Defender working again? Maybe recommend a good free AV that she can use until something like ESET goes on sale?
Her computer is an HP Pavilion dv6000 running Windows Vista Home Premium SP 2 if that makes any differences.
Thank you so much,

Answer:Kaspersky Anti virus

Hello and welcome to TSF.

Not a good idea to have more than one Anti-Virus program installed and/or running. While this may seem like greater protection, it can actually cause problems including slowdowns, system hangs and even crashes. Choose one to keep and uninstall the other.

Any antivirus program must be removed via add/remove program.
For any program that doesn't have an add/remove entry, you will have to do this:
re-install the program -> reboot -> uninstall

Then, if you still have issues, we want all our members to perform the steps outlined in the link given below, before posting for assistance. There's a sticky at the top of this forum, and

a link at the top of each page.

Please follow our pre-posting process outlined below. Use a USB flash drive to download and transfer the tools to the affected machine, if necessary. You might like to run the Flash_Disinfector.exe on the clean machine and the flash drive first to protect against any possible transfer of infection via USB.

my mum is changing from CA to KASPERSKY for price and hopefully a faster computer. are there any tricks to deleting CA correctly and also is there likely to be much speed increase ,as when i went from mcafee to kaspersky the extra speed was fantastic. shes also changing from tiscali broadband modem to O2 broadband ,is this likely to be an improvement as tiscali seems to be very slow sometimes.many thanks

Answer:CA to KASPERSKY anti virus

I changed from Norton 360 to Kaspersky Internet Security about 8 months ago (running under XP), and to be honest I was disappointed at how little speed gain I achieved.I suggest you recommend that your mum changes to free security software, such as AVG Free antivirus (click here) and Zone Alarm firewall (click here). They're both quite light on computer resources, and trusted by many people on this forum. There's nothing wrong with changing from Tiscali to O2, but don't get your mum's hopes up too high for any dramatic improvement in speed. There are many factors that dictate the speed of a broadband connection, and by no means all of them are under the ISP's control. For example, the distance from your mum's house to the telephone excahnge is probably the single most important factor.

Currently I have been at my mate?s house vigorously tearing through his computer and adding programs to deal with different situations. (Currently I have installed SpyBot search and destroy, Windows Washer and Zone Alarm firewall.) When it came to anti virus my mate refused me to touch it. He stuck with his uncle's decision of Kaspersky anti virus, which I have never heard of. This and the fact that his computer is riddled with problems that is most likely caused by Virus? makes me suspicious. Is it reliable and trustworthy? Does it have anything on AVG. Quite frankly I don't think it's doing its job and should be replaced immediately with AVG free.Best Regards                   Jamez.

Hi everyone. I have Windows Vista Home Premium and I am trying to use AVG Anti-Virus Free on my computer. Well, it keeps telling me that the Resident Shield is not active and I have no idea how to fix this. I tried going in to the settings and deactivating it and reactivating it but that did not fix the problem. Please help!

Answer:Solved: AVG Anti-Virus Free Resident Shield Not Active

This virus or malware prevents access to your firewall and anti-virus apps and shuts off internet access. I had to manually remove it from my desktop a few years ago, but now it's back on a friends laptop, and I cannot recall how I removed it the last time. The only indicator of its presence is the small shields it adds to the icons for anti-virus and firewall apps. it also installs those shields internally on Windows interface utilitys on the Control Panel and will not allow the user to make any changes to the system to remove it.
I need help, and thank you in advance!

Answer:firewall & anti-virus blocker adds shield to icons

This morning I tried to use the system restore to get around the presence of the virus/malware infection. I first disabled the anti-virus/malware apps (ZoneAlarm & Advanced System Care 6) and attempted to restore to a point several days previous to the time the virus made itself known by the appearance of the shields on the icons on the desktop. No joy. I attempted about an even dozen times to restore to several different dates/times but every attempt met the same end: the system could not complete the restore, perhaps due to the presence of an anti-virus program active in the system. There was NO anti-virus app active.
I am well and truly stumped.

So for PAV I usually install Super Anti spyware run it in safe mode and do a boot time scan with avast. Before i do all that I erase restore points of course. Anyways what I wanted to know if there is a quicker way to do this, like is there just registry keys to can remove and then delete files or folders in safe mode?

Thank you.

OK here's the problem. I was playing CNC Renegade when the game crashed. When i tried to quit the game, it won't let me into my desktop screen and my pc freezed ( this happens quite a lot of times before because of some settings i changed in the game). I switched off my cpu and then restarted but when i try to run Kaspersky, it says "Kaspersky has been started by another user" , but there's no icon in the system tray. I attempted to shut it (kav.exe and kavsc.exe) with the task manager but it says "access denied" . Now i cant even uninstall the application cause it says "Please make sure you have exited Kaspersky before uninstalling" and its not in my system tray. So theres like no way i can exit, open, or uninstall kaspersky. Thx in advance.

*I have Kaspersky Anti Virus Personal Pro 5.0

Answer:Kaspersky Anti-Virus problems

Yeah, they released a corrupt database. I was able to initiate an update and it downloaded the definitions for me. Apparently some people actually had to reinstall the program, so you may have to do that.

I just finished a free trial with Kaspersky personal edition AV 5 and liked it a lot.
I'm now trying BitDefender 9 standard. Seems good.

Anyone have any opinions on which of these is better?

I used to use Norton but it's a gawdawfull system hog. Then I dl'd a trial of PC-Cillin internet Security 2006 but found it clunky and didn't like it.

Answer:Kaspersky vs BitDefender ...Better Anti-Virus?

Bit Defender seems to always be on top of the leader boards and bench marks. How do youl like it? Does it use alot of system resources? How does it compare to the others? I have been thinking about switching from AVG to NOD32 or Bit Defender.

I just got Kaspersky pro installed on my Windows XP Pro machine and right away it found the Lovescan worm. I knew i had a worm because the other night i turned off my firewall for just a few minutes and i got this RPC failure popup that shut down my machine after 60 seconds. I had to do a Ctrl Alt Delete and shut down the file in processes before Kaspkersky was able to delete it.

Anyways my main question here really has nothing to do with that. Kaspersky is reported corrupted files. I just did a scan a few minutes ago and it found 4. One of them was the new AIM Messenger install file that was located on my desktop. I believe i remember reading a while back that Kaspersky finds several corrupted files but they aren't really corrupted or something. So are these files really corrupted or is Kaspersky just confused? What do i need to worry about Kaspersky finding, just Virus's and ignore the rest?

Answer:Kaspersky Anti-Virus Users

It had 6 listed earlier but i just ran virus scan and it shows 4. These are the files that are showing up as "corrupted" in kasperky.

C:\Documents and Settings\burningrave101\Desktop\AIM Messenger 5.5.3583.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\burningrave101\Desktop\AIM Messenger 5.5.3583.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\burningrave101\Local Settings\Temp\GLB29.tmp
C:\Program Files\Gigabyte\ITE Raid Driver Setup\WIN2K_XP\iteraid.sys

I renamed the AIM messenger file from Install_AIM.exe to that back before i ever even run Kaspersky. I dont guess that has anything to do with it though.

And i found this information on Kaspersky "corrupted" files.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus has found a corrupted file, what does this mean?

A corrupted file is a file which contains different information than Kaspersky Anti-Virus is expecting. A corrupted file does not point to a viruscontamination.Click to expand...

I just installed the Kaspersky Anti Virus software and I have a couple of questions about the settings. According to the Kaspersky FAQ's the definitions are supposed to update every hour. I installed the AV software yesterday at this time and when I installed it I ran a manual Definition update to make sure I have the most recent Definitions. When I checked the computer today I noticed the program had not updated the Definitions which concerns me.

When I was looking around in the settings I notice that there is a setting that allows me to define when the program reaches out and checks for updated Definitions but according to Kaspersky it is supposed to do this on its own. I can set the program to check for updates to the definitions once a day but I don't want to cause a conflict within the Kaspersky software that will leave me without anti virus software. Has anyone else encountered this with the Kaspersky AV software?

Also, I see there are options to set automatic virus cans for both the Full scan and the Critical scan. Does Kaspersky default to an automatic scan or will I have to set up scans on my own?

Thanks all.

I've heard several people here say that Kaspersky is decent anti-virus and I've been interested in trying it. My dad recently got a deal on a 3 user bundle from frys and I'm the one testing it out.

Do you guys have any advice on configuring this? I'm not sure if I've configured it right, but I haven't been too happy with it. It really slowed my computer's bootup time till I disabled Application Integrity Control. That feature also complained about the software for my logitech mouse and keyboard. I'm wondering if those were false positives.

Do you guys have any thoughts on this? It doesn't seem like it's that bad once I disabled that feature. Maybe I'm just venting a little about some of issues it caused me after install. I think I might test out bitdefender or avast on my other computer, just to look at some alternatives.

Answer:Any advice on Kaspersky Anti-virus?

I'll mention that I think Kaspersky is one of the top 2x antivirus products out there...along with Esets NOD32.

I'm more familiar with NOD32 as I've been a reseller of it for quite some time.

You'll find Avast substantially heavier than Kaspersky, and not as strong in detection. BitDefender is almost as good in detection..but a bit heavier.

Are all prior antivirus products fully uninstalled? If you had a Symantec/Norton product...after uninstalling it, did you use the SymNRT tool?

I have used Kaspersky anti virus personal version 5 for a year and have been satisfied with it.
Last week I upgraded to version 6 when I renewed. Version 6 will cause my IE pages to hang. For example, if I open a new session of IE it will never get to my start yahoo page. Other web pages will not open either. If I exit (shut down) Kaspersky, my web pages will then open, but that defeats the purpose of having an anti virus.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what settings I could change (either on IE or Kaspersky ) so that it will accept IE web pages? Has anyone else had this problem with Kaspersky anti virus version 6?

The installation was done on a Toshiba laptop about a year old.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I ve been using Kaspersky Anti Virus and am happy with it. My subscription ran out a couple of days ago and I bought the 2013 version (had been using 2012). I downloaded it but cannot find where I need to put in the Activation Code. There is a place on the bottom right right which says "insert activation code" and I click on it and nothing happens. So, now what do I do - all the info I see online does nothing. I am using XP Professional on a Dell laptop and also a desktop (I can use the code on 3 machines). TIA. i recently when back to windows 7 because i didn't like windows 10. Every thing went well except that kaspersky doesn't run. i tried every thing but i doesn't seem to work

Answer:kaspersky anti virus doesn't run

Upgrading (or downgrading) the Windows OS (and even using "System Restore) often breaks security programs.
In order to run best on Win 10, it is advised to upgrade to KAV2016/KIS2016, as explained HERE

But, since you have rolled back to Win7....

AFAIK, it may be normal for Windows UAC to prompt when first running the program after an OS install.

Have you tried to perform a clean reinstall of KAV2015?

Basic steps:
Make sure you have your valid activation code handy, just in case
Download and save -- but do not run yet -- a fresh copy of KAV2015 from HERE, as explained HERE
Uninstall KAV from the Windows control panel, keeping ONLY license info (or nothing)
((Should NOT be necessary, but might be a good idea: download and run the Kavremover tool, then reboot))
Run the KAV installer, activate it, update it, configure it and reboot again

Hi all, I am currently using Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009, version

I gotten some problems and questions, hopefully I will get my answers and doubts cleared from you guys, whether you are using this software now or before.

First thing first is that, when I start to scan my computer, it shows that I have been affected with some spyware and 2 trojans. When I go into the 'Detected' section, under the 'Disnfected', it shows the spywares, while the 'Quarantine' part, it shows the 2 trojans.

1. Are these virus and spyware remove already? If not how do I remove them?
2. When there are presence of virus(s), am I able to select the type of actions? Like deleting them? Cause In the settings, I cannot find such actions done.
They only have 2 kinds of actions : Select an action automatically or Do not prompt : Disinfect, delete if cannot be disinfected

3. So which is good?

Thanks and really need advices

We have a rogue anti-virus program. It had downloaded itself onto my computer and has placed an icon in my task bar that pops up fake critical warnings. It is called Personal Anti-Virus. On some websites (including this one) it will show a screen that says there is harmful content and will block it. Sometimes it will also give warnings that will show up in a bar across the top of the screen.. (where a pop up blocker will notify you). It also seems my IE is crashing a lot more. Just been given my sisters computer to try and fix, but fairly sure its beyond help. thought I'd post on here anyway to see if you had any suggestions.
To start with its definitely infected with personal antivirus, and probably numerous other bits of malware and viruses.

To fix this I tried installing malwarebites anti-malware, which downloaded ok, but whenever i try and install it, nothing happens. a windows security alert pops up asking if i want to install this program, after which absolutely nothing happens. The setup program appears in task managers processes list, but nothing else. This happens both in normal mode, and safe mode.

The same thing happens when i try and run the systems only malware removal program, spybot S&D, only without the windows alert. In standard mode the try icon appears, popups appear regarding blocking scripts, but whenever I try and access the UI, nothing.

Also, when in internet explorer, if i do a google search, clicking on any of the results leads to a pop-up window with various anti-spyware advertisments. This is the only thing that happens- not redirected to the result i clicked on.

Finally tried running DDS in preperation for starting this topic, but that stalls on the information page- never even starts a scan.

Some system info:
A fairly old Toshiba laptoplt
Anti-virus- norton internet security
Anti-malware- spybot S&D
No firewall that I've found

Thanks for any help you can provide

(I didn't get along so well with TAM.)
Windows 10 pro x64

Answer:Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2016 + Voodooshield?

VDS isn't an Antivirus, so I don't see the problem.

If you experience major conflict between VDS and Kaspersky's TAM, contact both developers to see if anything can be resolved, short-term or long-term.

Kaspersky Lab today announced the release of a groundbreaking new product ? Kaspersky Anti-Virus for UEFI (KUEFI) ? an anti-malware solution which can protect the user?s PC before the operating system even starts loading.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2015 - released

page download:

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2015 FINAL (v15.0.1.415)
"Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2015 is the latest edition of Kaspersky's solid and reliable antivirus engine.

The package provides strong real-time protection against malicious files, email attachments, web scripts, instant messaging content, and more. Icons in your search engine results warn of dangerous sites, a vulnerability scanner highlights security holes, and there's capable anti-phishing protection thrown in.

This build adds a whole layer of extra protection from Cryptolocker-type malware. Kaspersky's System Watcher now looks out for suspect programs trying to modify user files, and immediately backs up the originals. If the suite finds the changes were malicious then not only will the malware be removed, but you'll get your original documents back, too.

There are limitations with this scheme. In particular, backups are deleted when Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2015 is closed, so if the threat isn't detected in the current session then you may lose some files. Still, it's a welcome step forward.

Elsewhere, there are the usual general improvements across the board: Kaspersky says Anti-Virus 2015 is faster, more lightweight and responsive than before.

All this is presented in a simplified, subdued interface. Plain buttons highlight four ma... Read more

There have been complaints in forums (German language link) from administrators of servers running with Kaspersky Anti-Virus about high system load ? high enough in some cases to stop the whole system. The reports concern Windows server with Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition, whether other versions are affected is unclear.

I appear to have been infected by a malware that has disabled my anti-virus program. I have noticed the infection in my email programs as my machine keeps trying to send emails on its own using an email address that is one of mine but not used by me. Now my Kaspersky anti-virus program is corrupted. The black list is corrupted; the update process will not function and the rollbacks to previous databases are corrupted. I followed the directions with the only deviation being that i had to use a different rootkit scan program (AVAST) because your link to GMER would not run in Win7 64bit. In any event, AVAST found no rootkit issues and i attached the log nonetheless.

I try to keep everything off my desktop that my husband--who can't stop clicking on stuff he doesn't understand without asking me--can get into trouble with. Somehow, he turned off our virus protection, or the pop up did, and downloaded a virus protection program trial called Kaspersky. I don't need it, it has messed up my Macafee & when I try to repair it, Kaspersky comes up as the reason it won't repair. Also, it sits on my Add-remove list like something that won't flush..... I try to remove it and it makes my computer freeze slightly, just enough that I have to remove it via Windows Task Manager & there it stays.
Also, whatever he did also makes all the changes I make to try and remove taskbar icons not work, everything stays the way it was after I reboot.
Trouble is, I run my business from this thing & he has messed it up. Can you all help me?
Thanks, Arbriel

Hello, I have Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 and my scan is set to Disinfect, delete if cannot be disinfected. However I have a long list of detected threats that are labeled as "Highly Dangerous" and "Very Dangerous". I'm not sure why these are still allowed to remain active and when I've tried to quarantine them, I'm just getting a window to open a folder. I tried to go to Program Files and find a quarantine folder in the Kaspersky program but there was none. I have NO idea where to quarantine these threats to, and I'm worried that they're still harming my computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I've never seen something like this in an antivirus program!

Answer:Help with Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 quarantine

These are not trojans/virus, Kaspersky is informing you that these files/programs/applications are out of date and patches need to be applied.

When you open the protection window you are given a list of vulnerabilities, right click on any one of them and select go to description, you need to apply the correct remedy for those warnings to stop.

You can also use Secunia PSI since Kaspersky use their database.

Anyone know why Kaspersky Anti-Virus sees the lastest version of Creative Labs' OpenAL (oalinst.exe) as malware/riskware?

I had on old copy of openal and it was detected as malware/riskware, so I re-downloaded it from Creative Labs' website here: Home - OpenAL, and it too gives the same warning under Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.

I use 3DMark06 under vista64 and it requires the latest version of OpenAL to run.

Anyone else seen this? Is it cause for concern?

Answer:OpenAL + Kaspersky Anti-Virus = riskware

Its doubtful openal would have anything. Add it to your excempts.

Delete the following registry entries (By using Registry Editor) a) HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Uninstall\Virus Shield b) HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\VSHIELD.DocHostUIHandler c) HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\ Run ?Virus Shield 2009? I don't know if I did it or someone else using my computer, but I have a program now called "Personal Anti Virus".  I certainly did not want it on my computer.  It supposedly has found a multitude of viruses on my computer, yet running my AVG Antivirus Program, I have found nothing.  I cannot remove this program from my computer.  It does not appear when I open the Add or Remove Programs file.  I have it on my bottom program bar and it continually pops up telling me of all the viruses on my computer. The program of course wants me to upgrade to remove all these threats ... which means pay money.

A couple of weeks ago, I had the PAV problem. I removed it using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and the popups no longer appear. However, I think there are residual effects. Norton LiveUpdate fails to update, except when I halt a process called "netfilter.exe" . Is that an after-effect of PAV? If so, any help with getting rid of this and other residuals would be greatly appreciated.

Hello [H]

I just got done with a new desktop build and I'm looking for some recommendations on anti-virus and personal firewall software.

Free would be good but I'm willing to pay a little if need be.

Answer:Best Anti-virus/Personal Firewall Software?

Based on a good bit of the suggestions on the forum - Microsoft Security Essentials seems to be one of the more popular choices.

I use Avast Anti-Virus Free on my systems - so far, no complaints.

For a firewall choice - I've used Comodo firewall in the past, but I'm not sure if they're still recommended.

Additionally - I'll throw out a recommendation for MalwareBytes Anti-Malware. I use it as part of a weekly scan routine.

I just downloaded and installed the Kaspersky Anti-Virus program today...and didnt like it. > "Kaspersky Anti-Virus Weekly Update 12/31/04 [ 57 Kb | Freeware | Win All]
The latest virus definitions for Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal and Lite. "

I tried to uninstall it but, it had no uninstall program.

When i tried to remove the would not delete.

When i tried to use SHREDDER.EXE to shred it would not shred.

I then went into safe-mode and removed the folders...and went to msconfig > Start and de-checked the boxes to prevent the program from starting again on re-boot!.

When i re-booted again without safe-mode...sure enough i had finally removed 'Kaspersky Anti-Virus'...or so i thought.

It was no longer in my 'C' drive...but, now several changes had taken place???.

My search tool for 'Files & Folders' in the start bar no longer works???...neither does my 'Windows Update'???...and when i right-click a folder... 'Kaspersky Anti-Virus'...tries to constantly re-install itself???.

When i right-click anything it tries to re-install itself???. I can no-longer right-click anything and get the normal regular pop-up with options to create new folder or whatever!.

HOW DO I GET RID OF THIS G.DMN program???off of my Hard-Drive!...can someone help me out please!.
