Windows 7 cannot detect the built-in webcam on my Asus laptop

Question: Windows 7 cannot detect the built-in webcam on my Asus laptop

Okay, so for the past several hours I've gone through the throes of attempting to get my Asus laptop's built-in webcam to work. I took a look at Device Manager and had found two items titled "Base System Device" (or something to that effect, I don't quite remember), and I thought that one of them would be the webcam. Well, after searching for the mystery items' Hardware ID on Google, I had discovered that these devices were in fact not the webcam.

Then I had used the "Add a Device" option under Devices and Printers in the Control Panel to try and find the webcam. After letting it churn for ten minutes, it appeared that Windows wasn't even searching anymore, and I was staring at a blank window for nothing.

The only clue I have about the situation is after running DriverEasy, it listed "USB 2.0 1.3M UVC WebCam" as a needed update, but it also said "(unplugged)" beside the selection, and was highlighted in red. After attempting to download and install the driver, the program had given me some Packard-Bell webcam driver that is most definitely not correct. (Packard-Bell still exists?)

This had all started, however, when I made a clean install of Windows 7. I had just spent the last two days scouring the web, digging up my lost drivers and programs that had come with the laptop. Everything's been successful, save for this one element.

My webcam is lost somewhere in my laptop, I just can't get to it. If anyone has any ideas as to what's happened (and yes, I know it's a possibility the wiring is shot) and how to fix the issue, please, give me any tips that you can. I've done everything possible in my power, including trying to find the drivers, but you obviously can't install drivers for devices that Windows doesn't even detect.

Oh, before I forget, my laptop model is Asus x83v(B?), if that helps in any way.

Preferred Solution: Windows 7 cannot detect the built-in webcam on my Asus laptop

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Windows 7 cannot detect the built-in webcam on my Asus laptop

Was this laptop purchased with Windows 7 as the OS that was installed on it ? Or did it come with Windows Vista and you just wiped it out and put Windows 7 on yourself??

Hi Guys,
Win7 (32bit) cannot find my webcam after an update. Devce manager shows it as an unidentified device. msinfo32 shows following problems:
NAVEX15 ROOT\LEGACY_NAVEX15\0000 This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed.
Unknown Device USB\VID_0000&PID_0000\5&1C78ACB5&0&5 43

This issue started with skype not being able to detect the webcam (says being used by another program)-previously uninstalling skyp and reinstalling an older version worked. not this time
Also tried reinstalling drivers from ASUS (maybe i am not using the correct one??)

my computer model is ASUS F50SV
Any help is appreciated. Need my webcam to keep in touch with my family.

I bought new asus k43s series laptop and i don't know how to install the built in camera.

Answer:how to install built in webcam in asus k43s laptop

Are you sure you mean 'install'? The webcam, if fitted, will already be installed if the manufacturer has done their job. Do you mean you want to turn it on? (there's usually a key combination to do that - Fn and one of the F keys (with a picture of a webcam on it possibly?)). Alternatively do you mean that you want to use it?, in which case the program to run it should be listed in the Program menu."I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..." Hey,

I'm really stuck and need some help!

Ages ago I loaded on windows 7 to my Packard Bell dot m-a and ever since I have not been able to use my webcam, it says that it cannot be detected.

I have tried to download the drivers from the Packard Bell website but when they load it says something along the lines of 'cannot find camera'.

I have looked through drivers but nothing is there to show a webcam or showing any problems - I never had a problem before I upgraded to Windows 7.

Any help or anything else to try would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Hi all

I'm new here so let me first start of by saying HI!

Ok so here are my specs:

Operating System: Windows Vista Business
System Manufacturer: ASUS
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T5800 @ 2.00GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 2046 MB Ram

Display:
Graphics card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470
Memory: 1276 MB

Webcam:
USB 2.0 1.3 Megapixel UVC Webcam (built in)

Ok so the problem is, the Webcam is just darn slow.
And I'm NOT referring to internet connection here. I'm talking about using any webcam software, recording and playing back. It's so slow motion and looks crappy.

I have even tried closing all programs and ONLY operating the webcam software. Same outcome.

I have tried to play with the settings. Turned off backlight compensation and all that jazz. Same outcome.

I read somewhere that it might be because the webcam is running of my internal system memory and not the memory card (heck knows if that matters?)

I really hope one of you smart folks can assist me? I'm want my webcam to play smoothly.

Kind regards,
Ryan

Answer:Asus Built In Webcam Is SLOW

Hello and welcome, ryanm123 .

A webcam of only 1.3 megapixels is already going to be dragging, and ontop of that you probably have lots of processes running, along with services . This could be "normal" .

I have a 0.3 megapixel camera on my laptop, actually, on both, and they work great, even with processes and services, I think I even pulled it off with Photoshop CS3 running .

What software are you using to record your work in ? Try VirtualDub, it's literally the best video editing software, except Adobe After Effects, for sure .

VirtualDub: http://www.google.com/url?q=http://w...LR4oplVPwpB6VQ

Also, what software are you using to playback your work in? If it's the same software you use to record in, I'd seriously recommend trying to playback in another media player .

I have an Asus Laptop with a built in camera.

When on skype/facebook chat I can hear the other person and the box in the top corner with myself in it, but I cannot see the other person. This is to many people, not just one so I know the issue must lie within my laptop.

When I click on >programs>lifeframe it comes up with the message " Multi Language Files are corrupted. Please re-install Life Frame 3"

but how do I do this?

I have an ASUS VK248H-CSM monitor that has a built-in webcam. However, I think I am missing the drivers for it because when I try to use the webcam it tells me to connect one first.

In the Device Manager I do not have an Imaging Devices or Other Devices category.

I tried to find the drivers for the webcam via ASUS' support page, but the only drivers they provide are for the MultiFrame software.

Edit: I'm almost positive it's a software issue because the webcam used to work, but then I did some driver clean-up a while ago and I might have unknowingly deleted the webcam's drivers.

Answer:ASUS Monitor Built-in Webcam Driver? VK248

According to the Asus website the monitor is "plug and play without the need to install extra drivers".
So my first step would be to go into Device Manager and uninstall the monitor, restart, and see if it loads the driver through Plug & Play.

Does the blue LED light up on the monitor?

Hello!

For the last week and a half the built in display on the Windows 7 HP Pavilion dv4i laptop which I purchased a few months ago will not display anything but a black screen. There is power to the screen, which stays illuminated and flashes during the correct transition times between the hp screen, the bios wait, and the windows start screen, but there is no interface or video whatsoever. I can get the video to display on an external monitor using VGA once the Windows login screen pops up, but that means I can't use my laptop as a laptop or see to access the BIOS. It is possible this is a problem with the CMOS preventing the laptop from recognizing the screen (also on one boot the date was defaulted back into January of 2009), and I have ordered a new CMOS battery to see if that is the issue.

However, there is enough going on to convince me that might not fix the problem due to a software issue. There was one prior reboot since the problem started where the screen worked, but on the next boot it was broken again. In the device manager the computer only sees two Generic PNP monitors (one of which is the display that does not respond) instead of their proper handles. In the display options I get the external monitor (a HANNS-G labled properly) and then the option for a VGA output monitor, which I can turn on but it does not change the laptop's display. The other issue is that I have the HANNS-G monitor plugged in via VGA, so it makes no sense that the computer w... Read more

It uses Windows 7.
Supposedly, a webcam is installed. But where is it?
If I click on 'Start' and write 'webcam' I get directed to Devices And Printers in Control Panel. Here there is no mention of a webcam, although there is an 'unspecified HID-compliant device', whatever that is. Clicking on it gets me no further though.
Help, please.
Many thanks,

Often you will have a pop out menu for the camera -

try moving the mouse to the top of screen, see if a menu pops out
try moving the mouse to the left of screen, see if a menu pops out
try moving the mouse to the right of screen, see if a menu pops out

Otherwise there will be an application in programs for the web cam

whats the exact model of the laptop

One of the F keys in conjunction with the FN key at the top of the keyboard may also switch the webcam on/off

Can you see a camera symbol on any of the keys

if you hold the FN key down does a menu pop out from the top of the screen

Answer:Built-in Laptop Webcam not discovered

Presumably the previous owner wasn't bothered about the webcam being unusable.

Have a look in Device Manager (Start >> Control Panel >> Device Manager)
If you see an error symbol under "Imaging Devices", it means there is a problem (missing or corrupt driver).
Turn on Automatic Updates in Control Panel and see if Microsoft downloads a driver for it.
If there are no error symbols in the "Imaging Devices" category, and no mention of a camera or webcam, it means the webcam is faulty so Windows isn't able to detect it. Unfortunately they are not repairable unless you are an laptop electronics expert.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my post.
Earlier this year I purchased a Gateway NE17B series laptop. I am having issues with the webcam. Running Windows 8.1, when I open the Camera app, it displays the error message: Something's wrong with your camera or Please connect your camera. After doing some research, I read to disable the driver, restart, then enable. I did that and it actually starting working!
Not wanting to use the camera app with Windows 8.1, I downloaded another free program. Now, the webcam is back to not working again. I uninstalled the software I downloaded and repeated the disable/restart/enable steps and it's still not working.
It seems anytime I try to use the webcam inside ANY program, such as Skype, the webcam will come on for a second, I'll see myself, then it goes away. This has happened in a few different programs when I tried using the webcam.

In the device manager, under Imaging, it says HD Webcam. So, I'm not real sure what manufacturer of the software is.

Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to get this webcam working again?
Thanks in advance for any help.
-Jonathan

Gateway M Series 6816 Notebook -- running Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2
Built-in Webcam -- 1.3 megapixel, supposedly Chicony 2.0 USB Camera

The Issue:
I have attempted to start the webcam via Camera Assistant Software and through Skype, as I usually do, but without success. Last time I used it was ~a month ago.

The Gory Details:
In my normal user account, the error during both start-up methods is:

Error Message 1) "Webcam does not exist. Please restart camera or computer."

Restarting the computer does not help; cannot start the camera in the first place to re-start it. Trying to un-install/change/repair/edit/etc via the Uninstall Program also produces this EM. It just doesn't exist to be manipulated, even if the CAS does. The camera doesn’t even show up in the Device Manager, and Skype cannot find a webcam connected, either.
Attempted to un-install and re-install the driver, with and without a reboot between, there is the same EM.
In the administrator account, the error changes to:

EM 2) "Cannot open file C:\Program Files\Camera Assistant Software for Toshiba\corona\BG1.bmp"

I am confused why my Gateway laptop wants to run a Toshiba-specific file.

This is the same message I get when I attempt to ‘Modify’ using the driver from the Gateway Support Driver Downloads for this model. ‘Repair’ gives me EM 1. ‘Uninstall’ actually managed to do so, but installing it again gives me EM 1, before and after reboot.

Every time I restart or turn on my ASUS U36JC laptop (functioning on Windows 7) after shutting it down, I cannot connect to any WiFi networks because it tells me that no connections are available, when I am 100% positive that there ARE networks.

I temporarily address this issue by going to Start >> Device Manager >> Network Adapters >> Highlight "Atheros AR9002WB-1NG Wireless Network Adapter" >> Uninstall >> Scan for hardware changes (which reinstalls the adapter) >> Problem temporarily solved, but passwords for wireless connections I've previously connected to are wiped out.

This isn't solving the problem because every time I shut down my computer, the issue comes back when I turn it back on. I have tried to reinstall the WiFi driver from ASUS but to no avail.

I am a complete dummy when it comes to these hardware / software things. Could someone help? Thanks so much!

Hi all,

About 6 months ago my inbuilt webcam on my ASUS M51SE just stopped working! I have searched and searched the net as to why but there are so many conflicting reasons.
I even wrote to ASUS support and they sent me an e-mail with a driver page to download but when I try it just doesn't work!
The webcam also does not show up in device manager...anywhere! so I can't even try to add harware.
When I run Liteframe for example (I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium SP1) it just says 'no camera device detected'.
Can anyone tell me, in VERY plain english as I'm quite a novice, what I can do to fix this? Any help would be appreciated...

Answer:ASUS M51SE Laptop Webcam

If the built in webcam is not detected under the device manager, it is possible that the connection or the webcam itself is damage and you will need to send it for repair. You will not be able to install the driver if the device is not being detected by the computer that it is plug in or installed.

Try to contact ASUS again and inform them that the webcam is not detected in the device manager.

I just built a new system using a SATA150 WD hard Drive and while trying to install windows it says it cant find a hard drive. The motherboard is GIGABYTE GA-K8VM800M. Anyone know why this could be?

Answer:Built new system...can't detect SATA hard drive while installing windows!

You need to install the drivers, you should of got a driver floppy disk with the motherboard, if not download them, and put them onto a bootable floppy.

When in windows setup (the first stage with the blue screen) at the bottom it will tell you to press F6 to install 3rd party scsi drivers, press F6 sometime on that screen. At the end of that it will give you the option to install the SATA drivers.

Are Lenovo built-in webcams working with the Win 10 1607 update? My T440s webcam no longer works after the 1607 update to Windows 10. There is plenty in the news about that Windows update breaking USB-attached webcams, but I'm unsure if that is the cause of my problem. It shows up as "Intgrated Camera" in the Device Manager, but the Camera app and Skype both just show a grey screen with a diagonal line though a camera icon in place of the actual camera image. The green light comes on when I try to use the camera - but no image makes it to the software. Thanks.

Answer:Built in webcam drivers in Windows 2000

Hi wumply,

Win 2000 does have built in webcam drivers, but not for all kinds of webcam in the world. So the best solution is to find drivers in the web, you just know the name, the number or manufacture of webcam, that's all. Just typing the name of webcam + driver, and you will have it.

Ok so my girlfriend was trying to get her webcam on her hp dv6500 labtop to work with yahoo. She accessed instructions on yahoo to change certain settings within the webcam driver, however she doesn't know what all she did or how to get there. The webcam doesn't work at all now and I can't seem to figure out what she did. I have tried to restore the computer but she has her computer set to remove restore points after a certain amount of time and this just so happens to be to far so i can't go about it that way. I have also tried reinstalling the driver for the webcam and that didn't do anything.
I'm upgrading her computer to Windows 7 on thursday hoping this might replace that driver but I'm not sure...
I'd greatly appreciate any feedback on this matter.
Thanks

FYI Yahoo told her to put "regedit" in the (start - run) box

Answer:Built in webcam driver problem (windows vista)

Go into the Device Manager and try to roll back the drivers.

Start>Right click on Computer>Manage. When that window comes up on the left side select Device Manager.

Click on the webcam and double click on it to get the window to come up about drivers. Select Roll back. If that doesnt work try removing the driver completely and then reinstalling it from the HP website.

Check Device Manager, to see if the camera is even showing in there with the driver installed. If it does not, go to Lenovo's Support site and download the correct driver for your device for the onboard camera.

its a realtek ac'97 audio.

Answer:Laptop built-in webcam showing as "USB 2.0 camera" and not working anymore

1. What's the make and exact model of your computer?
2. What version of Windows is running on the computer?
3. Have you gone to the computer provider's support site and looked for a hardware specific web cam driver?
4. The current name "USB 2.0 cam" sounds like it might be using the Windows generic driver. Open Device Manager, right click the cam->Properties then Driver tab. Who is the Driver Provider? (if it says Microsoft, that's the generic cam driver)

I cannot get the built-in webcam to work on my brand new G40-108 with Windows Live Messenger. I receive the following message when attempting to configure 'audio and video setup' on messenger: "Windows cannot connect to this webcam. Close any program that may be using this webcam and restart the wizard".

Have logged it with Toshiba Technical Support, who were also unable to resolve the problem. We tried disabling both webcam apps at startup. If both run at startup, the chicony software does not function.

Anyone else having this problem? I will provide an update to this post if I get a resolution from them.

Thanks!

Answer:Qosmo G40 -in built Chicony webcam incompatible with windows live messenger

Yes? I?ve got a solution.
Remove the old software and the driver from the system.
Go to the Toshiba European page and download the newest chicony software and driver.
Then install this on the notebook and enjoy.

Note; please reboot the notebook every time after driver reinstallation.

I have tried everything. Updated drivers, downgraded drivers, tried drivers from another manufacturer, uninstalled and let it auto install the "correct" drivers. I changed my power settings to max performance, messed with the signal configuration and most recently, completely reset windows.

Before reseting windows, it would detect wireless networks about half of the time but then would disconnect from them every 5 minutes or so, making it very difficult to use. Now, after reseting windows, it has not been able to detect any wireless networks at all.

This issue has occurred on ALL wifi networks, including my mother's in Virginia, my university and my apartment in San Diego. It also does not occur on any other device including my old computer (this one) and my phone. All other devices have unbroken and healthy signals on the same wifi.

Could it be a faulty network adapter? The computer is refurb.

All right. Here's the story. I had an old Acer computer from about 3 years ago. Standard "budget" computer. About two months ago i decided to upgrade. I bought a tomohawk 500AWT power supply, a 1GB HD 5670 graphics card, and 4gb of DDR2 ram, because that's all the board could take. Plus, i was running Vista 32-bit.

I was using a tech guy, and he installed the parts himself. However, when i got it home my computer kept freezing up. It would kick me out of starcraft and say "driver has stopped responding and recovered". Or something similar. I took it back to him, and he tried putting in another graphics card an x1600 (considerably more ******). That took care of the problem, and i was content because for the most part, my computer ran starcraft okay. The processor i had a 2.2ghz dual core pentium II (i believe) was causing minor problems. Star craft would freeze in-game and then unfreeze after about 30 seconds, but i could deal.

About a month ago the computer started to bluescreen frequently and it started freezing in-game more often. I convinced myself that i could afford new parts so i went on newegg and bought a Biostar A870 board, a Pheom II X4 955 3.2Ghz cpu, and 4G of ram.

I received them yesterday, and here's where the fun began. I figured out first thing that my mid-size tower wasn't going to fit the motherboard so i called around and found a used chassis for twenty bucks. I went and picked it up, and then came home to insta... Read more

Answer:Built computer won't detect monitor.

The little black line flashing is to do with it not being able to boot in to windows.

You could try downlading Vista 32bit recovery cd, if your still running vista 32bit.

http://digiex.net/downloads/download-center-2-0/applications/956-windows-vista-32-bit-x86-recovery-disc.html

You will need to burn the file, you download, to a cd and boot from it.
With the new motherboard etc.

Try turning it on with just one RAM stick in motherboard, sometimes you have to set the RAM setting manually in bios and the voltage might not be high enougth for two sticks, or how ever many you have.

You can find out the setting by going to RAM manufacturers website.

The graphics card should go in the X16 slot, Should be a black one on your motherboard with a white latch at one end.

What some people do is put there computer together outside of the case, to rule out any shorting out etc from inside case.

If your confident doing this be sure to do this in a static free environment.

Make sure you have plugged in the 4 pin CPU power plug in to the motherboard (top right)

Did you try reseting the cmos on the new computer aswell, with motherboard battery/jumper.

Check the CPU heatsink is properly attached and check cpu temp in bios if you can.

Question: BUILT IN WEBCAM

I truly find this ridiculous. I have had this laptop for three years, decided recently to try the webcam and lo and behold it doesn't work. When the cyberlink is turned on, it says it can't detect the camera and that it needs to be turned on. Since the user manual does not state anything about turning on the webcam which is in the computer, I have enabled, disabled and re enabled the cam, updated the drivers and it still does not turn on. After reading these forums it seems that the only answer is to call support. But for them to give a solution they want money.  All I need is for someone to tell me what buttons to push to turn the cam on.  It shouldn't be rocket science nor should it cost anything since it was included in the laptop but kept out the user manuals for whatever reason.  So just tell me how to turn it on and off. Every other laptop I have owned up to this point had the button. But of course, I decide to switch to a well known product that should be one of the best around and I get this issue. So I'm not wasting my time stayng on hold with a support team that is only going to ask for money to fix a problem that they created. Someone please help....

Answer:Cant use my built-in webcam!!!

The drivers are available from the Acer Support website. All you need to know is the model number of the laptop, not the model number of the webcam.

Acer Support US: http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=1

Acer Support Europe: http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/downloads.html

Acer Support UK: http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/drivers

Use whichever link is appropriate for where you live.

Hey guys, so here's the thing... My webcam doesn't really work when I use ooVoo or Skype... for example, I have just downloaded ooVoo and I was told to check my webcam availability and all that, so when I tested my webcam, it didn't work. I viewed the "devices and printers" section, and clicked on my webcam icon and looked at its properties and checked its device status and it said "This device is working properly". I thought the problem was ooVoo but then I used Skype and Facebook webcam and still my webcam didn't work. I'm a total noob, so I hope you guys can help me out here. I'm using Windows 7.

And sorry for my English, it's not my first language. Thanks in advance.

ummm hello lol im a new member to this site and I hope someone can help me with my webcam issue. I recieved a Dell XPS One Desktop as a gift for christmas and just yesterday tried to turn on my built in webcam to video chat on AIM. When I confirmed the chat I could hear my partner and they could hear me but the only thing i could see was a black screen for the picture. I updated my AIM to the newest available software and had the same result. I then downloaded Skype to my computer and the sound and microphone test cleared but when i did the video test it recognized my built in webcam but when they asked me to do a snapshot it still was just the black screen. I have Windows Vista Home Premium and I don't know whether my webcam is turned off or if there is a hardware or software issue. PLEASE HELP!!!

Question: Built in webcam?

I got a new laptop:

http://www.msi-computer.ca/product_info.php?cPath=63_68&products_id=218

And it has a built in webcam. The problem is...nothing acknoledges it. Things like MSN or YAHOO say there's no cam connected.

The only problem I could think of is that this laptop was supposed to run on Vista, but I bought it with XP home. Could this be the problem?

It could definately be a problem. But try searching for new hardware and see if anything registers. might be a driver issue.
Also try going into control panel > system > device manager > and see if you have any yellow Question marks that might be a wrongly installed webcam or media device...

Did the laptop come with any CDs? Sounds like the webcam needs to be reinstalled. Or the drivers anyway. Does the webcam show up in Device Manager?

Question: Built-in webcam

I had my laptop build to include a webcam. I recently purchased a Logitech webcam because I can move it around. During the installation of the Logitech software I remember a screen prompting me to check which webcam I want to use - I checked the external Logitech webcam. I now want to go back to the build-in webcam.
How do I do this? (I am a total computer novice).
Thanks

Answer:Built-in webcam

What application are you using to access the webcam? (Skype? ICQ?)

can we see a device manager screen shot

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Device Manager

Please Post back the results in device manager as requested below

You will now need to take a screen shot and copy that back to the working PC.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the screen shot and attach the screen shot in a reply on the forum here.
If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply

Hi. My notebook is unable to detect my built-in DVD-RW Rom. I have the same problem even after I have plugged in an external USB DVD-RW. The USB ports seem to be okay as they can detect external HDD or other removable media. I may be missing the drivers for the CD/DVD. I would appreciate any advice or assistance on locating and installing the missing drivers. I am currently using Windows Vista Basic OS. Thanks very much. Daniel

Hi,

I have a SONY VGN-P788K, recently the built in webcam stopped working with Skype. I tried to reinstall the driver, however there is always the same problem with it (it's only for Vista and I'm running Widows 7, so install is not successful). This is not the end ... external HD is not recognized either, same story with laser mouse (I can see the mouse lights up when computer starts, but then it just goes off and doesn't respond).

Please advise, thanks!

Hello and thank you for looking at my problem. My webcam has ceased to function. I have looked in Device Manager and see a problem with one of my Universal Serial Bus Controllers, listed as Unknown Device. I tried to update the driver without success. Device status is 'Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 43).' Here are my laptop specs: Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.2 OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional, Service Pack 1, 64 bit Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3210M CPU @ 2.50GHz, Intel64 Family 6 Model 58 Stepping 9 Processor Count: 4 RAM: 3992 Mb Graphics Card: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000, 1804 Mb Hard Drives: C: Total - 102399 MB, Free - 49663 MB; D: Total - 364198 MB, Free - 87276 MB; Motherboard: GIGABYTE, Q2542C Antivirus: Microsoft Security Essentials, Updated and Enabled

Answer:Built in Webcam not detected

ok so code 43 is always generated when there is a hardware or software issue( which you have already try to install) usually by doing a cold shutdown of your computer or taking the battery out for some few seconds does correct it but if all that is not fixing it try disabling the device in control panel or you can roll back to the previous driver and allow windows to scan for hardware changes.one question did you do any changes to the computer before this started happening?

How do you activate the built in webcam and microphone?
After searching other online help forums everybody wants to know how to turn it on but nobody has an answer.
Laptop comes with vista sp-2 already installed. Nothing about the webcam in the manual.
No documentation on the webcam in the help files.
As usual the Medion website is no help.
I can see the cam staring at me so I know it has one.... Maybe its decorative?

Answer:built in webcam will not work

Check the webcam by using Windows Live Messenger. Go to tool then "Set up Audio and Video device..." You can buy different webcam software if needed.

How you test your notebook built-in Webcam using the resources of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bits OS?

Answer:Built-in Webcam Problems

Welcome to Seven forums vik1919.
In Control Panel open Devices and Printers, it should list your webcam. Right-click the icon, then Trouble Shoot and follow the prompts to test it for problems.

There may be an entry specific to the webcam in Control Panel too, it should have its own software.

Let me start off by saying "Hello!" I'm new here and am looking forward to expanding my knowledge.

I'm home on break and trying to set up Skype on my Dad's work laptop for my Mom to use for her grad school classes. Unfortunately, the built-in webcam was not recognized, either by Skype, or, so far as I can tell, the laptop itself. I'm guessing there's probably a driver missing, but I don't know how to go about finding it, and I'm not sure if there are other issues here that need to be addressed.

Any help with resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

i've recently tried to use the video chat function on AIM with my built-in webcam on the HP dv9260nr notebook, except that it keeps telling me that another application on my computer is using the camera, so it can't use the camera? except that there are no applications running that use the camera, and i've tried closing all my programs, restarting my computer, shutting my computer off..everything.

also, the thing is that sometimes, at random times it'll start working..and then once i disconnect and retry, it starts saying that some application is using the camera..so then i try over and over, and if i get lucky, it starts working again.

does anyone know what might be the cause of this? or could it possibly even be that the problem is AIM? where AIM won't let me have a video chat if i repeatedly attempt to start a video chat over and over again within a short period of time? (sort of like a rate limit?)

Answer:Built-in Webcam Issues..

Well, I just got a dv6449us a couple of weeks ago. And I had kinda the same problems with AIM. It was actually that it couldn't find a webcam. I started using Windows Messenger and its video, and it works fine. I don't think it's the camera, it's AIM.

Hi there,

A few days back, I turned on my laptop and the built-in webcam wasn't working anymore. Usually, a little side bar with tools and things for the webcam would appear every time I turned on my laptop, but instead I got this message:

"Web camera initialization failed. Please check your camera device and restart application or computer."

I've read a few solved forum posts of the same nature and most spoke of going into Device Manager and seeing exclamation marks beside something or finding Image Device or Webcam in the Device Manager folder. The unfortunate thing is that I have not seen any of these things while looking through Device Manager and the likes. Anybody have any idea what to do?

P.S. My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A500

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide! I'm trying to stay in touch with friends who've moved overseas and would enjoy being able to use my webcam for Skype and things of that sort [And if you need me to post screenshots of things, please just let me know how to post a picture as a response. I'm quite clueless when it comes to technology, haha]

Answer:Built-in Webcam Troubles

If the webcam device (or unknown device signified by a ?) is not listed at all in Device Manager. that usually means the actual device itself may be faulty, in which case you can overcome the problem by buying an external webcam.

If you think it's just a software or driver issue and not hardware, you may want to try re-installing the webcam driver first too see if that fixes it. Go here and click Downloads: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp

You'll need to look on the underside of the laptop for the exact model number as there were over a dozen different models in the A500 series.
