Preferred Solution: Best card for my setup

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Best card for my setup

Budget? What do you want this card for, I,e, gaming, video rendering, etc.? As for "best" there are probably several options open to you.

I have a Dell E520, and well, it sucks. But i'm not buying a new computer. So!, I have decided to just upgrade it. I want to het the ASUS Radeon HD 4870, but with that, I also need a new PSU; and on top of all of that, I need a flexible riser card!

So heres the links to the three things I want/need to get.

PSU:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703005

HD 4870:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121290

Flexible Riser Card:
http://www.orbitmicro.com/global/pe...exibleextenderforpciexpressx16bus-p-4354.html

Now what i'm planning to do is replace my 305Watt Dell PSU with that one, stick the riser card in my PCIe slot, connect the HD 4870 to the riser card, and then ...???...!!!...Win?

Anyone know if this setup should work?

Answer:Will This Video Card / PSU / Riser Card Setup Work?

What would you need the riser card for? I see plenty of space in the case from the looks of it but even if you do use the riser card, the video card may be blocking airflow from and to the CPU. Check the dimensions to be sure IMO.

Otherwise, everything else looks great.

I recently went to copy my photos off my camera by putting it in a card reader but reader would not recognise the type card it was. When i put my card back in my camera it would no longer let me see my photos at all it just kept coming up with the card setup screen saying i need to clean my card or format it. I have tried wiping my card with a dry cloth but still nothing and i do not want to format otherwise will lose my photos. Can anyone help or have an idea what has happened?

Answer:XD Card problem - card setup

Try running one of These recovery programs on the card ..
Recuva is very popular .. But I've had better luck with PCInspector.
They can recover files from a formatted card if the card is good .. But I'd try to not format it.

I am currently running 1 Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTX. I have been thinking about upgrading but im stuck. I have been looking at 3 options and I would like some opinions.
First, I could just get another 8800 GTX and put them in SLI.
Second, I can buy 2 9600 GT's and put them in SLI.
And third, I can buy one 9800 GX2.
All the setups I have chose have their ups and downs, so I cant
decide on what to do next.
I was looking at the specifications for the individual cards and they all are good in some ways, and worse in other.
For instance, the 9600 GT has a core clock of 700mhz and a memory clock and shader clock of 2000 and 1790 mhz in respectivly. But it only has 64 stream processors.
The 9800 GX2 only has a core clock of 600mhz and a memory clock and shader clock of 2000 and 1512 respectivly. But it has 256 stream processors.
The 8800 GTX has 128 stream processors, but a lower core, memory, and shader clock than the 9600 GT.

So with all these ups and downs, I cant decide. Should I be looking mainly at the stream processor amount?
I have always wanted an SLI configuration, but I would skip 2 9600 GTs if one 9800 GX2 performs better.

So, whats does everyone think? Does anyone currently run a 9800 GX2 or 2 9600 GTs in SLI?

Answer:Which Card Setup???

Given nVidia's history in releasing cards and the quality of what you're currently running, I'd wait a month or two or three and wait for them to get the 9800 clocks up to something repectable (geez, I think that's below the ATI HD 36xx series). My feeling (yes, I'm an ATI user, but take it for what it's worth) is that nVidia was a little surprised by the success of the HD 3870 x2 and had to hurry something a bit. I also don't know how their drivers are at this point, but from what I've seen, that's likely to be a problem, too.

The 9600 is an alright card, but at the moment it is way more expensive than it should be for what it is (compare its specs to HD 3870s and then compare prices and you'll see what I mean). Your mobo kinda shows you want to stick with nVidia. Given that, I'd strongly recommend you wait until nVidia has their niche (high-end cards) firmly under control. The last thing you'd want to see is someone who spent the same on a mid-range card but bought ATI outperforming you. ATI has already said they're looking to go for lower-cost, efficiency, and mid- and low-range cards and is pretty much leaving the realm of the 8800s and 9800s to nVidia. Kind of puts them both where they naturally ended up anyway. For what it's worth.

If you can hold off until June, rumors abound (or maybe it was announced) that ATI would be launching the HD 4xxx series. That might drive nVidia prices down a wee bit.

By the way, if that's a picture of you for your avatar, thanks f... Read more

I have a client who has a custom built system. The CPU is in a desktop (not a tower), but it has a motherboard that is made for a tower. So, he needs a video card whose height can not exceed 2.75". He said he needs a "low profile" card.

The reason why he needs it is that it is hooked up to a 60" NEC plasma TV, and it is not clear enough for him. Also, the computer screen does not take up the whole plasma screen.

I hooked up my Toshiba laptop to it, and it did take up the whole screen initially, but when it went to screensaver for a few minutes, when I woke it up, it changed the resolution so that it was in 4:3 instead of 16:9, and I could not get it back to widescreen. Any ideas why/how this happened, and how to fix it?

Below are the specs for his computer:

Mobo: Intel DG965WH
PCIe X16
Plasma TV: PX-60XM5A (native resolution is 1365 X 768; 16:9)

He said he wants an NVidia card.

What do you suggest?

I believe that is AGP. If you're just going to be surfing the net and such, just get a GeForce MX 4000 or something really cheap. You could even go w/ a ATI Radeon 9250SE.

Answer:2 video card setup

Ok, first off...  It is indeed possible to setup two video cards in your computer.  But as far as I know, it is not possible to use those two video cards to "give it more video power".  The only way that two video cards can be used is for multi-screen display (Using more than one monitor to show the screen on your computer).Hope that helped!

Hi, I have a Radeon 9800pro graphics card which ive had for same time now but after i reformatted my hard drive, updated to sp2 and reloaded the drivers etc i just cant seem to get it to work smoothy with my games. I loaded the original driver which worked perfectly ok before the format and ive even tried the new updated driver from ATI but that also doesnt work with my games. i've downloaded dotnetfx and the control center and at the moment i have the 6.7 version driver installed. The main issue is with Call of Duty. the game graphics look ok but when i scroll across the screen its becomes very glitchy. Ive tried all different arrays of settings but still no joy.Ive also tried it with Call of Duty 2 but thats even worse, looks like a 2D game downloaded from the net. Im really at a loss as to what could be the issue here so am asking if anyone her could help me.Ive had trouble getting the right drivers to work with my games before but never so much trouble as im having at the moment. Why are ATI graphic cards so hard to get setup?I need help big time. any suggestions appreciated. Thx.

I bought and installed an Asus Xonar DX, and installed the latest software. I have a Roccat Kave Solid 5.1 headset. I've always set the amount of channels to 2 in the Xonar control panel, and it seems to be fine. When I configure 5.1 through Windows, it sets it to 6 channels and doesn't sound right in-game. Is there something I've not done right?

Answer:New sound card, can't setup 5.1

If it's asus, stay away from the config in windows control panel. Reset to default and leave it so. Use the DX audio center instead. Don't think it's smth wrong with either one, but it will cause conflicts. The DX audio center handles the same settings at both win and driver level. Plus the DX Audio Center gives you the same options and more. After you reset the control panel config, go to the DX audio center and set audio channel 6 and analog out 5.1. Should do it if the headset connects how i think. (never owned one, does it have 3 jacks to connect to the sound card? if not, select sound channel 6 and analog out 2.1 or 2 speakers).

Hi everyone. I've aquired a mini PC which presently has no sound. I'mm having problems setting that up, as the sound card is identified only as "multimedia audio controller" in device manager. Attempting to automatically install the driver through windows does nothing.

Does anyone have any idea on how best to figure out what the souind card is, so i can get the drivers from the manufacturer

Answer:how to setup an unknown sound card?

You'll need to open up the case and identify the sound card (or more likely, the motherboard if it has onboard sound). If you can post a picture of the motherboard, we can probably help figure out the make/model.

Another possibility, you could try Aida32 to see if it can find it for you.

SLI vs CrossFire: Which Dual-Card Setup is Best?

Quote:
We look at dual card graphics and PC gaming. When you add a second card, which cards are faster? Which scale better? And which can you actually stand to have in your system?

Graphics cards have gotten faster and added more features. So we have to ask the question: is it really worth adding a second GPU to your system? Will you get enough of a performance boost to justify the extra power draw and added cost? The answer is more complex than a simple yes or no. It all depends on what games you’re running, how much you dial up features like anti-aliasing, whether you’ve dived into the world of stereoscopic 3D and what monitor you’re running.

Perhaps the most important factor in the decision is display resolution. If you’re running a 1680x1050, 22-inch display, a single midrange or high end card will get the job done. Adding a second GPU is overkill. If you’ve got a 30-inch, 2560x1600 display and want to crank up the AA and postprocessing features, then that second GPU can be a big help.

Stereoscopic 3D, like Nvidia’s 3D Vision, demands more performance as well, since you’re effectively doubling the frame rate requirements of a game. Most 3D displays currently available max out at 1920x1080, however, so the performance demands aren’t overly onerous.

Games themselves are evolving and adding more features. You can see that in a title like Just Cause 2... Read more

So I recently bought a GeForce® GTX 1060 WINDFORCE OC 6G, to replace my quite outdated R7950 TWIN FROZR 3GD5/OC with. However, when I installed the card, it wasn't recognized by my system, and when I booted the fans on the card would start, then immediately stop.
Convinced it was a manufacturing error, I sent it back for RMA, but I just received word that no defect was found in their testing. So I need your help in figuring out what else could be the issue.

My company is looking into using three monitors for our work. It would be composed of two 19 " monitors and a single large (30" or 23") monitor. Our current workstations use the NVIDIA Quadro FX 1000 which is unable to support more than 2 monitors. What would you suggest for the best card to use and also what large screen monitor can you suggest for best resolution (need max resolution).

Thanks.

Answer:Best Video card for a three monitor setup

Hi:

Look over the offerings from Matrox.
They have the best multi-monitor implementations.
They also have always the best 2D.
For 3D, it will look nice but will not have the high fps that
froth-at-the-mouth gamers need.
Matrox specializes in the non-gaming home and business market.
First class hardware and software.
Pricey but you do get what you pay for.

Happy trails,

I got 2x MSI GTX 460 Cyclone OE 1GB in SLI and would like to somehow make Windows use the bottom one and leave the top one alone?

For example when using Firefox I would like it to load the bottom one, so that the top one remains as cool as possible.

The only way I managed to do it is by turning SLI off and then plugging the monitor cable into the bottom one. Then whenever I load a video or star scrolling furiously only the clocks of the bottom one increases.

Answer:Default/Primary card in SLI setup

You can't do that, unfortunately. The top card will always be the primary card. The "power" from the second card is shifted across to the primary card.

Hey folks. I just picked up an HD 5450 Radeon card to take some of the stress off of the main board and also to see if there's any picture improvement for movies.
I also had a third monitor lying around and I thought I should put it to use. I bought a DVI-VGA adapter, and am trying to get all three monitors up and running.
Upon booting the system up, the new VGA monitor (currently on the adapter) and the HDMI come up, the VGA in blue shading only. Once I get to the login screen for Windows, the VGA monitor goes off, and the other VGA kicks in with full colour.
Catalyst is only picking up two monitors, and I'm wondering what's going on here.
Any help would be appreciated. Happy to provide more info as needed.

Answer:Trying to setup 2 VGA + 1 HDMI on HD 5450 card

I dimly recall that to use the AMD Eyefinity feature (as many as 6 monitors running on a single graphics card), the 3rd and subsequent monitors must use the card's Displayport outputs. (That could be with adapters.)

Some 5450 cards have no Displayport outputs. If yours has one VGA, one HDMI, and one DVI, it's probably one of them.

Sorry that I can't be more encouraging.

Hi guys,

Just picked up an XFX Revo64 SATA RAID card from eBay in the hope of adding some extra SATA ports to my HTPC to add some extra storage.

Plugged the card in and connected a working HDD to it and nothing happened. Had a look at Device Manager which is finding a "Mass Storage Controller" but cannot seem to set it up properly and cannot find any drivers for it.

Upon doing some Googling it seems that XFX didn't make any actual drivers for this card so I am now a little stumped as to what I can try next. I have tried running a program called SlimDrivers to try and find a driver that way but to no avail.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

My current video card in my desktop computer is apparently dying. I could be wrong, but I just haven't been able to figure out what else the problem could be. I deleted all drivers and started over. (The drivers I had previously were the most current apparently, but I reinstalled from a new download.) I also deleted all Flash and started over, and same with Java. My display crashes constantly in Firefox, and almost always when I try to play a video online. Sometimes even when I click on something, anything, in Firefox...bam! The screen goes black and the computer is still running. IE is not even usable anymore. So I reboot and start over with every crash. This has been going on for a couple months.

I am going to be upgrading almost everything soon. I like my old roomy Chieftek Dragon case with lots of fans so I may be able to keep that. Below is what I currently have.

I realize that a video card that will be great for my coming system will not function to its fullest on my current system, but if it's just an improvement for now, that's fine. I don't want to have to buy one now and one later!

Current system:

1. Motherboard - Gigabyte P4 Titan, GA-8S648FX-L
2. Graphic interface - AGP 3.0 8X/4X
2b. Current video card - VisionTek ATI Radeon HD 2600 (put in 2008)
3. Memory - 3 GB (maxed out) Crucial
4. CPU - P4
5. CPU Speed - 2.6 Ghz
6. Power Supply Make/Model - Antec Neo HE

Answer:What video card to buy for both current and future setup

Current and Future!

There is no such card.

You currently have an AGP interface and I'm willing to bet your future motherboard will be PCIe.

Hello all,

I've got an XFX HD 6870 card that is supposed to support 4 monitors natively, in fact, that's why I bought it! I want to run 3x1 eyefinity, with 1 extended desktop. I have 3 Dell U2312HM monitors and an Acer monitor for the fourth (just to test with). I am hooked to the two Display Ports with 2 of the dell's and to one DVI with the 3rd dell. The Acer is hooked to the HDMI output.

I have Catalyst 12.4 installed and it shows the 3 dell's in 3x1 eyefinity, and when I go to "detect displays" it shows the acer there as a 4th monitor, but it says it's "disabled". If won't let me assign a position to it until I disable one of the 3 dell monitors.

What am I doing wrong?

Here is the actual card in question...

Thanks in advance for all the help!

Answer:How can I setup my sim card in Dell Latitude e7250?

What model WWAN card is in the system (or, if it doesn't have one, you'll need to purchase one) -- the SIM card is just a subscriber identity card?  It won't work without the wireless card, which in turn must be compatible with both your provider's network and with the operating system you're running.

This will take a LONG explaination !!

Have my T-21 Thinkpad setup with dual-boot of Win98SE and Xandros Linux. The built-in Xir-Com Mini-PCI V.90 56K modem and my dial-up ISP [Old Bob is retired] works with Win98SE but not Linux [it's a Win modem].

Bought an Intel PRO/100+ Mini PCI wireless card, BUT don't really know how to use it. Most of the research I do seems to be setting up routers.

1st problem: - Can't find a decent public "hot spot", but I have been "poaching" on doctors offices in the local medical center. I know this is ILLEGAL but I'm just trying to set up card and see if I know how to use it. I will drive the 15 miles to the public library in next town, once I know what I'm doing.

Card is picking up "networks" with about 70-80 % signal strength, BUT don't know what to do "next" ??
How do I get my dial-up ISP to use the wireless card ???
I'm not even sure if this is the "right" question to ask.

hi all

i was hoping a few of you might be able to help me out. at the moment im running 2x Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 Overclocked 2GB cards on 3 Monitors at 5040*1050 eyefinity and i think its time for abit of an update but i dont no what to get.
ATM money is a little tight so save up for a month is what i might have to do, witch is fine.
1st ill list a few games i would like to run in 3 screens with setting near to high as possible and getting a decent fps.

GTA 5
Star citizen
rainbow 6 siege
no man sky

im unsure what i would need to run 3 screen smoothly a few friends said that having a card with 4GB and over on memory shouldnt have a problem, are they right in that fact?
i have been looking around online and i think that nvidia might be out of my budget as much as i would love to get one they are tooooo expensive for me, well the 900 and 1000 series cards are anyway, i have never had one due to the pricing of there cards. but ATIs new RX 480 looks nice with its 8gb memory and for the price is kinda hard to pass up (?250ish).

anyone got any idea im open to all and im in need of abit of help. if you need anymore info just ask
thanks alot in advance

Hello all.
I currently have two monitors (32 in. & 27 in.) connected to a GeForce 550 Ti graphics card: EVGA 01G-P3-1556-KR GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Fermi) FPB 1GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card - Newegg.com

This is working nicely without any issues, but I would like to get another 32 in. monitor and wanted to get any advice on a decent video card upgrade OR if my video card will handle 2 large monitors and 1 med. sized monitor. I do see that my card has two DVI ports (1 connected to the 32 in.) and one HDMI port (which is connected to the 27in.); common sense is telling me 3 ports, 3 monitors right? Just wanted to make sure.

I'm not a hard core gamer, but I do play various high level detailed games like Half Life, Call of Duty, etc.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Ok, heres my situation. I have my default ATI Rage Pro 32MB card on the AGPx1 slot but also recntly bought a PCI Visiontek Geforce 4 MX 420 64MB card which isn't impressing me much. Well I recently bought a couple games that aren't working the best with those.

Clive Barker's Undying can't initialize the Direct3D and Myth3 works in OpenGL but severally lags. Unreal Tournament lags big time in OpenGL, System Shock 2 just says the card isn't compatible. I know some of these games would work with the ATI card, I read in the readme.txt that Shock 2 would work with ATI Rage Pro.

So my question is, is there any clue on how to disable one card so the system and games can recognize the other card? How can I get OpenGL and Direct3D to work better?? I have the newest drivers for both cards installed and upgraded the patches for the games. I have DirectX9.

I read somewhere that might be something with Remote Desktop Sharing turned on??? Also wondering if I took both cards out of the slots, uninstalled the drivers and bought a nice new juicey AGPx4-8 Geforce 4 TI card, would that work in a AGPx1 slot?

I'm running an older Compaq system so the BIOS sucks on it and I can't alter anything important.....

If anyone knows any good tweaks or ideas or programs to run or something please let me know because I got several things sitting on the shelf now that are calling my name and I hear all this buzz about OpenGL but don't know that m... Read more

Answer:How do I setup a Netgear card to a ZoomX4 Router

What model of netgear network card are trying to setup? Assuming you just have anormal 10/100 pci card, once physically installed in your pc you just need to install the drivers. Next get a straight through patch cable and plug into said card and into port 1 on the router. Your router should have a DHCP server which will allocate an IP address to the network card, so now you should be able to enter I/Explorer and enter your Plusnet username and password.

My T-21 Thinkpad is setup as a dual-boot Win98SE & PCLinuxOS 0.93a Junior. At the local library, Win98SE connects automatically, open the browser and I'm online.

With PCLinux I "started" very close, the yellow & green LEDs were on and I had five green "bars" and a green circle. BUT when I opened either browser [SeaMonkey 1.1.1 and Konqueror 3.5.3] I could not get online.

Note: When I first started, SeaMonkey did connect ONE TIME, but when I rebooted my notebook the connect was gone forever !!!

"Not knowing what I was doing" [I didn't know if the library was a LAN or "wireless"] I started changing all the settings. Now, I'm getting the message, "Unable to autodetect wireless interface" and on bootup I have a screen "Choose a profile "Default" - "OCL-W". And the yellow & green LEDs never light !!! I tried to undo my changes but went from "bad to worse".

I need "major help" to undo my mistakes and get to a "auto-logon" condition.

I have a dual monitor setup, which works great...the only "kinda" issue is that the 2nd vid card setup for the 2nd monitor is always max'd out. Nothing "runs" on that monitor that would need this type of power from the vid card. Anyone know why or how to throttle it back down to idle speeds?

Mind you, my setup is an SLi setup, but the main vid card which is the main screen...runs at idle.

Example app: Browser on the main screen, vid #1 (main screen) is idle speeds, vid #2 (2nd monitor) is running at max speed - with nothing on the screen.

Don't know if it's an Win7 issue or a Nvidia issue.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I need a GOOD usb3 card and front bay hub for my computer. Bought a SIIG SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Bay Hub+Host Kit Model JU-H40411-S1 back in Nov but have had major problems with it from day one and now believe it was partially responsible for trashing my Enyo and SuperTalent RC8. Over a month now of dealing with Siig has gotten me nowhere. The unit is totally dead, not recognized by anything and they keep wanting me to do a 32bit firmware upgrade. I keep telling them that I am running a 64bit Win7 Pro but that does not seem to soak in. Absolutely the worse customer service I have ever dealt with since 1969. I have about decided that no one makes a good quality add-on setup but am hoping I have missed something in my research. Really hate to dump my motherboard in order to get front usb3 ports.

Answer:Need Quality Usb3 card and front hub setup

actually from what I know avoiding that combo deal, your best bet is to buy the card and the front end separately.
The vast majority of the cards do have the plug for the front panel hub on them, they just don't actually come with the hub.

i have a dell inspiron 1501 laptop [3 months old]which is connected wirelessly to my orange livebox using the dell card supplied, giving me a 54mbps connection. however i have just acquired a netgear 108mbps wg511t wireless card. if i use the netgear card will i be able to get 108mbps speed with the livebox or will it only work with a netgear wireless router?

Answer:netgear 108mbps wireless card setup

To get any increased wireless bandwidth, you will need to match the method by which it's being "turbo-ed". That varies by manufacturer and sometimes, even between models from one manufacturer. You won't with the Orange Livebox which appears to be standard 54 Mbps.So you will need a new Netgear 108 mbps wireless router to match, safely.click hereIt appears Netgear promotes 3 of their routers under the "Related Products" section on the right hand side of that web page.

Hi, I am experiencing a loss of RAM in windows XP with a multi-video card setup. Here are the system specs:
P5W64WS Professional
QX6700 Intel Processor
4 x 1G Supertalent DDR2 800
2 x Seagate 160G HDD
4 x XFX 7300 GT video Cards with 256 MB DDR2
XP Pro

Here is what I have done so far. For the people that may not be familiar with this particular motherboard, it has 4 x PCI-Express slots, and readily advertises its ability to handle 4 video cards and 8 displays on the front of the box. Tested the system with one video card, the normal 3 Gigs of RAM were visible in XP. I put another video card in PCI-E slot #2 and visiable RAM drops to 2Gigs in XP. I switched the second video card to PCI-E slot #3 and same issue. I added a third video card and visible RAM stays at 2 Gigs in XP. When a fourth card is added the RAM drops to 1.37 Gigs.
At this point I took out 2 Gigs of RAM and removed all but 1 video card. The 2Gigs were displayed in XP with the single video card. I added another video card and 2Gigs remained visible. I added a third video card and the 2 Gigs were still visible. The fourth decreased visible RAM to 1.37 Gigs.
All displays are running fine and system is stable. I am just curious if this RAM decrease is normal, if there is anyway around it, and why it is dropping at all if the video cards have dedicated memory. THanks for your time.

I recently received a Radeon HD 6580 which works great, however, when I try to run it with my FireGL v5100, I get error 43. I knows both of these cards work in my primary Pci-e slot, but they  do not work when they are both plugged in. Both of the drivers are updated. I am running on Windows 7 x64. I am not sure what to do from here.Any help is appreciated!-Eric

Answer:Help with dual graphics card setup: Error 43

I think your problem lies with incompatibility of your graphics cards. NVidia allows use of mixed sli capable cards that are different than each other by combining "cuda" cores, but i don't think ati/amd have the same general technology to do that. For the best of compatibility and performamce i'd always recommend running identical cards when running a multi-gpu system. Also make sure they are bridged properly with the correct cable/connector.. i could help further but at the moment I'm typing on my cellphone and its taking forever. for some reason my pc cant even ping this forum right now. facebook/google/etc. is fine, and dns resolves the hostname, ill try back later i guess

My clients have a ton of business cards....is there a scanner that will let them mass scan these and place them in outlook or something of that nature.

Answer:business card scanner database setup

Pretty much all scanners with a feed tray have the ability to scan business cards.
This one has a 50 page feed tray and can do cards:
http://www.neweggbusiness.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16838115052

The problem comes in that most scanners are just going to shoot out a PDF, so getting them into outlook is still the problem. The ones that I have seen that will do the conversion to v-cards by "reading" the text have all been single feed items designed for business cards. There may be software available for this, but I do not know.

We have several of these at work:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...8123005&cm_re=cardscan-_-38-123-005-_-Product
Which imports them into outlook contacts well, but obviously it is a one off scan.

Ok, so as far as i know of the only card that can handle a 3 monitor setup is the Matrox p750. Which needless to say isn't a very good gaming card.

I've got an sli setup with 2 6800 gts, but the only way i can run 3 monitors is if i take them out of sli. Which defeats the purpose of sli. The p750 comes with a breakout that converts 1 dvi into 2 vga outputs (with their own channels). Is there any way of using this converter to get 3 outputs from 1 card? I tried it at work on a 6600 gt and alas it didn't work. I'm assuming this would require some sort of driver hack in order to get the third output. Are there any options here?

Are there any other video cards that im overlooking that have 3 monitor out? Or maybe another route i could take?

The goal is to have 3 monitors so there isnt a line going down the center of your focal point. (from the case)

Answer:3 Monitor Setup, Video Card Options?

so your goin to be using all 3 in game? this will be a very nice setup but the more monitors u up on the worse the graphics will get. I think u should try and use the 2 cards not in sli and have one to the middle off one card and the two sides off the other becuase u wont be looking at the side ones as much so need to most on the middle and it doesnt really matter than ur only using the 8x speed cos the card doesnt use that full speed anyhow. make sure the games u wanna use it for support it though or ur gonna waste ur money on the monitors.

I have a T60 that I was only able to use for a couple of days after purchase on EBAY in the fall of '08.  Ordered recovery disks in spring of '10.  Just now getting to use them.   The recovery did not work.  BIOS shows 60 gig hard drive as 4.5 gig.  Had hard drive reformatted at repair shop, where we discovered that the HD had 3 partitions, one 50 gig partitution unformatted. After reformat,  loaded R and R from CDs then rebooted to hard drive and loaded all 6 recovery CD's as per instructions.  Last disk (6 of 6) popped up error messages that \SWWORK\4GEOXCA1\LAYOUT.BIN is corrupt or unreadable, Run CHKDSK.   Then a message that said:  Unable to save all data for the file \Device\HarddiskVoume3\SWWORK\4GEOXCA1\LAYOUT.BIN Failure of hardware or net connection. Following that corrupt file messages, like the first one above, for SETUP.INI, SETUP.EXE and SETUP.DLL came up. The computer will not boot to windows, just sits there with a blank screen after the boot message.  I can boot to the R and R program by hitting the Thinkvantage (blue) button.   Can I download uncorrupted versions of these files?  Is there a way to check the integrity of the files on the recovery CD (some sort of cabinet type file, IIRC an MIS extension)? Thanks in advance for your help!

i have set up dual monitor configurations in windows 98 (SE) before with nearly identical hardware, but am having trouble this time.

i have an MSI geforce-2 64mb AGP card as my primary video card. it has been working fine. i put in a 4mb PCI ATI all-in-wonder card to use as a secondary and hooked a monitor up to it. when i restarted, the bootup screen came up on the second monitor, something i had never seen before. i installed the drivers and restarted. now my desktop is only on the second monitor and device manager doesn't even see my geforce any more. it its place are two "3D RAGE PRO AGP 2X", which doesn't make sense because the card is PCI. under display properties, it also says i have two of the same card. on my primary monitor is the "windows has successfully initialized this display adapter..." message. i want to use my geforce as the primary and my ATI as the secondary. any ideas? please help.

Will this card and this speaker system be compatible?

Why wouldn't it be. As long as the connectors are compatible with the PC. All you have to do is plug it in and turn it on. If for whatever reason you don't like how it sounds adjust the sound card on screen controls until you do.

When I run the Windows 8 setup program the screens are nearly unreadable. There is a screenshot of this below. I'm not even sure how to describe the garbled text effect for googleing purposes.
While I was able to finally get Windows installed with a lot of guessing at what was on the screen, the video problem persists. I suspect this is some sort of driver issue, but I am not able to download and install the latest drivers from Nvidia because the screen is so unreadable.

I tried booting up in Windows restricted graphics mode (I think that was F5 in the special boot menu), but the problem persists. Same goes for booting up in Safe Mode.

I know this computer is OK, because I was able to install Window 8 on it just fine when using the integrated graphics. Also I am currently dual booting Windows XP (using the Geforce card), and it it does not have the same problem.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

The download box gave no choice of where to send the download--just said "C:\Documents~ \Hoyle Card Games," and I couldn't expand it to find out where the setup program is. Windows "Search" function couldn't find anything, although the smaller program I had to use to download the game demo was sitting right there inside a folder on my desktop. Maybe something is wrong with Search, but I have no idea how to fix it.
Every time I clicked on the "fetch" icon for this program, hoping to find a way to see where the setup files had been downloaded to, I got the message that they were being "extracted," but before the extraction (and to where?!) could be completed, my computer hung and I had to press the on/off button to turn it off, so I really want to get rid of this file. Of course, it is not listed in Add Remove or among my program files, so I have no access to its Uninstall. It is supposedly taking up 510.15MB of my hard disk somewhere. I used System Restore to go back a day to before I had anything to do with Hoyle Card Games, and now that original "fetch" icon is gone, but presumably the thing is still eating up space.
I am really disgusted. Can anyone please help?

When i enable the internal Graphics in the BIOS and then boot into windows i start having Driver Issues.

Any help would be More then Apreciated!!

Hi there,

I have just bought a nvidia shield tablet (coming tomorrow) and I have setup my laptop to create an ad-hoc wireless network for it to join. The problem is although the wireless card in my laptop is a wireless AC card and supports up to 867mbps, the link speed I am getting with my phone (has a wireless AC card too) is only 72mbps.

Obviously I would like the connection to be as fast as possible to reduce any dropped frames or lag which may happen when using the gamestream function the shield has.

I know there are lots of advanced settings for the wireless card in windows and from what I've read I need to increase the band width for the 5Ghz spectrum to allow for the faster data rate but I am not entirely sure how to go about this.

Any assistance would be great, and if you think you know the appropriate settings I should use, maybe you could assist me.

Thanks,
Charlie.

You went into your BIOS and disabled the integrated graphics? Um you might try a free program like Driver Sweeper to remove whatever remains of the old video drivers. For some reason the new video driver installer does not see your new video card.

Answer:Setup Display with Standard VGA Driver - Video Card Installation Error

The Radeon 7000 drivers are not compatible with Windows 7; that video card is ancient and doesn't support Windows 7 fully. The integrated Radeon 2100 is massively newer and better then this card, especially since this card uses a PCI interface compare to a modern PCI-Express interface that video cards now come in.

Also if you got a compatible graphics card, you'd want to disable the graphics card in the BIOS rather then in Windows as that will fully turn it off and return the 128MB of system memory its currently using.

Turning on HDMI 3rd monitor screws up the Display 1 & 2 which are VGA and DVI

I usually have Skype open and 2 browsers. Monitor 1 on DVI for work and monitor 2 is VGA for facebook Twitter and that kind of stuff and Skype under the browser on monitor 2 and monitor 3 is on a second/separate video card hooked up to HDMI used for music videos and cctv cameras.

As of lately when I turn on the HDMI monitor all the programs switch sides.

Skype will move from the lower right side of monitor 2 over to the lower right side f monitor 1
The browser thats on monitor 2 will switch over to monitor 1 and the browser that was on monitor 1 will swap sides from monitor 1 over to #2.

The 3rd monitor is sometimes used for music videos but currently it is hooked up to a CCTV DVR on the DVR VGA hookup so it even does this when the TV (Monitor 3) is not on HDMI mode for the computer.

I can turn monitors 1 and 2 on and off 1000 times and nothing will happen but as soon as I turn on the HDMI everything swaps sides.

Why would powering on HDMI display do this and how can I stop open programs from swapping sides on monitor 1 & 2 when I turn on the TV (Monitor 3) even if its not in HDMI mode when powered on?

So basically i did bunch of dual display setups before but using two video cards or using one video card with two outputs but this is the FIRST TIME im trying with a built in intergrated card and a PCI card.

Heres the issue.

I hooked up the PCI video card and when i plugg both monitors in, the intergrated video card gives a yellow exclamation point in the device manager and nothing shows up on the monitor. Only the PCI video card shows signal..

I tried un-installing both cards, redoing it from ground up, tried disabling and renabling both cards but only one monitor shows up and that is the PCI card.
What do you guys think?

Thanks

Answer:DUAL DISPLAY SETUP - PCI VIDEO CARD & INTERGRATED VIDEO.. Possible?

Check that the on-board video is enabled in the Bios.

It's possible you can't have both working at the same time, should be able to check this if you know what motherboard it is.

Hi there!

What I want to do: "...extend my desktop on a second monitor, but, my second monitor is compounded by 2 HDMI TVs and a VGA LCD stage monitor both used as Duplicate setup in Windows 7".

How I have done this (and it works!):

-I have 4 diplay devices (2 HDMI TVs that are connected using a splitter and two monitors both on VGA);
-I also have two "video cards" (GPU): one Amd radeon hd 6570 (with VGA, DVI, and HDMI ports), and Intel HD onboard (aprox. 1GB with VGA output port).
-I have connected the TVs with a HDMI 1x2 splitter on amd radeon's HDMI port, and one of my VGA monitors (this one acts as a STAGE MONITOR for the singer / artist lyrics).
-The integrated Intel HD card has my "Control" monitor attached that I use as my primary monitor (the one that shows me the Desktop and the lyrics control application).

Software aspect of the problem: In Windows 7, I use my Intel HD video card as my primary display, then I can extend on a second monitor the desktop! (The second monitor is my VGA Stage monitor). The Third display that appears in the setup is the HDMI splitter, this one is a Duplicate of my stage monitor. I use: 1680x1050 resolution for my primary display, and 1024x768 for the second monitor... (I know, this resolution is too small for my HDMI TV's... Windows recommends me a 1900 x ... fullHD resolution, but my STAGE MONITOR does not support that much, so I need to use a small resolution).

I'm trying (desperately) to set up my network on Windows 7, but have hit a bump in that it just cannot find my network.

I checked Device Manager to see if the card was found - it was with a troubleshoot exclamation point on it.

I removed the card, used the installation disc and am not able to get very far. After the install (after which nothing happens), I click on the Belkin Wireless Networking Utility icon on the desktop and it says "missing shortcut: searching for Belkinwcui.exe", after which I get a window saying "The item Belkinwcui.exe that this shortcut refers to has been changed of moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly".

That exe file isn't anywhere in my computer, searching through Explorer. In fact, in the Belkin install folder (Program Files (x86) -> Belkin ->FSD8001v1...) there just looks like maybe a driver (AegisE5.dll) and an application (AegisI5) that doesn't run.

My next choice, I guess is to take my PC upstairs and line it into my modem/base station directly, but I'd rather not move it.

Am I missing something? Why won't this work? How come I can't install my Wireless Card?

Please help, if you can. Thanks.

Answer:Cannot Setup Wireless Network (Belkin N1 Network Card)

I'm experiencing an almost identical issue. I had the same problems with the installation disc. After multiple install / unistall / restarts I was able to get the client installed. However, when I click to open the .exe nothing happens.

On top of that, the system is not recognizing the card. I tried all 4 PCI slots with no success.

I installed this same card (same model, different physical card) on a pc running xp sp3 very easily. Since that was so easy I bought another card for my windows 7 machine.

However, I was lazy and didn't do any research. Before I came upon this forumn I found a couple of google links saying this card was incompatible with vista (therefore incompatible with w7?).

Any else out there get this card working?

I have several Asus Eee netbooks that I'm getting set up to use at my school. I had some parent volunteers helping me get them ready to deploy, and one of the netbooks was plugged in to initially power it up, but then hard-shut-down before Windows could run through its initial setup.

Now when I boot up the netbook, and it attempts to go through the initial windows setup "Setup is starting services", and then throws an error message:
The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation.I restart, and the cycle continues. This happens whether I try to boot normally or in safe mode.

I've got no CD-drive attached to it, so I'm not sure what I can do to break this error cycle. Any suggestions/tools/ideas?

Thx,
Jeff

Answer:Win7 Starter getting error on initial setup; locked in setup loop

Not sure how you deployed them, but if Startup Repair doesn't help when run from System Recovery Options then I would redeploy the image or run Factory Recovery from its partition after backing up the disks.

If you don't have one and they are same hardware, simply backup one's image using Win7 backup imaging or free Macrium - Image your system then boot System Recovery options to Recover Using an Image from its external storage location which you have connected.

If they are not same exact hardware or Image hangs at startup, SysPrep the original before deploying to remove all drivers, activation, SID and HID's.

Hi Guys & Gals,

I've been trying to get my Home XP(SP2) desktop talking to my XP(SP2) Laptop, using tips gleemed from the threads in this forum.

My desktop does not require a sign-on.
My laptop is from work and requires sign-on to the work Domain.
I have put my Desktop into a workgroup of the same name as the laptop domain.
I have enabled file & print sharing, and added the laptop into my trusted Norton security zone on the Desktop.
I have shared folders on both machines.

I can see the Workgroup from my Laptop but not the desktop within it.
I can see the Domain from my Desktop but it times out if I try to drill further.
I cannot see my shared printer (connected to the desktop) from the laptop.
I can map from my laptop to desktop (shared folder), but not vice versa.

The only thing I haven't tried is to run the Network setup wizard on either the desktop or laptop.

Here's my question: if I run that wizard on my laptop, will it destroy my work network settings?

OR any other ideas what I should try to get each machine to see each other?

Thanks
Hew

Is there any info recorded anywhere in Windows, that tells me the name of a setup file
that (ideally including it's path)?

An executable can usually (always?)
be opened with 7-zip, often (like itunes) revealing the executable internally to contain a collection of .msi's. Maybe info about the execution of one of these is logged somewhere, in which case (with a bit more effort) I think the 'origin' (setup.exe) could
be inferred...

I read that the journal records every file that's opened!!! is this human-readable?

Thinking aloud. I have about 7 widi setup executables I obtained whilst trying to setup
intel widi, similar scenario with several other applications installed on various VHDs. I'd like to purge my downloads>>setups folder, but retain installation-media for important applications (just in case).

So much info is installed during installation (ie setup/msi stuff as well as appdata of
course), surely something this simple must be possible somehow, somewhere! somebody?

Hi everybody.
I got dell latitude d800 laptop with dead display and without os (supposed to be XP, sticker is intact).
Hunting for affordable good shape lcd panel will take a while so I made unattended cd with nlite and installed XP but external monitor didn't fire up
I checked the installation with live CD and it looks like complete install so I got an idea that the install is lacking dell drivers particularly video driver (nvidia fx 5200 go card).
Even more: it's possibly lacking any video driver 'cause native display was disconnected.
So I have to somehow inject video driver and force setup to install it. Then XP must fire up external monitor and then I can update all the drivers.
I read about winnt.sif and $OEM$/Drivers directory but that all about "naked" drivers like .sys .cat .inf ... but the drivers I got from dell have also .dll .exe and other files but nvidia driver even has its own setup.exe.
How to make XP setup to install such drivers during unattended setup?

Ive read the Instructions on how to setup XP to dual-boot with Vista...
However, im concerned (and someone mentioned it happened to them in the thread)
that when XP SETUP is finished with the TX part of setup and reboots PC to go into the
rest of setup (GUI XP SETUP)) it wont continue....?
is this right>? ive read elsewhere that if the partitions for XP are created in Vista that it wont boot into the rest of setup....

I could make the partition during XP setup if this will help?

thanks

Answer:Vista/XP Dual Boot - Will XP setup continue into GUI setup after reboot of 1st part.?

When I did my dual boot [using win2k / vista] I used an existing partition that was created by vista. No problem at all. It is a little more difficult than say installing win2k after xp however as long as you follow the instructions there are no problems.

As always make an image of your system before you start. This way if something does go wrong, it is a simple matter to restore the image and be back where you started from.

I'm trying to install windows xp, after formatting, it goes thru the process of copying the xp files and automatically reboots. Now after rebooting, instead of this installation to continue, it just goes back to the same setup process again i.e right from the beginning again of wanting to format and repeating the same process again. It does not continue with the installation as it normally does. Xp disk is good. no problem with it.
One thing strange I noted is when booting with the XP disk in, it automatically goes thru with the XP setup without asking 'Click any key to boot from CD-Rom'
Any ideas to solve this? Thank you all in advance

Have a look at what I highlighted, thats the source of your problems.

1.what audioswitcher do you use, model name and number would help.
2.Why aren't you using control panel to just disable your main sound card so it'll switch to your headphone ?
3. which windows os do you use, also is 32bit or 64bit ?
4. which version of klite did you download before and was working properly ?
Version would greatly help.
5.How is your speaker system setup, also which sound card do you use ?

Sure its alot of questions I am asking, but its necessary so I can narrow down to source of the issues and undo most of it.

Windows XP Home SP3

Hard to know where to start with this one.

The other night I tried to start Windows. The start up screen froze, and the mouse, and what sounds like the fan came on strong and constant. lately I've had a lot of this over use of fan for prolonged periods, especially after a long session or when downloading. Seems unnatural.

So the only way to switch off was holding the start button for 5 secs.

Restarted OK.

Next day the same freeze, manual restart, this time I got a corrupt SYSTEM file in c:\windows\system32\config, and pc remained in DOS. All I could think to do was to go in via Recovery Console and TYPE the SYSTEM and SYSTEM.SAV files. The 1st was very different so I copied the .SAV over to SYSTEM.

This time I got further, to the Windows start screen but then it goes into Windows Setup mode and the fan goes mad again. It purports to have passed the collectiong info, dynamic update, prep installation stages and to be on Installing Windows. This happens incredibly rapidly (ie you don't see these stages - the screen 1st appears on this stuck stage)
Fatal Error dialolg comes up "An error has been encountered that prevents Setup from continuing. Internal Setup data structures are corrupted (phase 0)". OK to view setup log then cancel and it goes through the whole cycle ad infinitum.

I've caught the boot with F8 and tried "Last known good configuration" but no joy. I don't know how to get out of this ... Read more

Re: An error has been encountered that prevents Setup from continuing. Internal Setup

When the fan comes on strong and for long periods it is trying to tell you there is a heat problem. Have you opened the computer and dusted out the inside?

Turning off the computer by holding in the power button may have corrupted some files.

If you can get it running without the strong fan noise, someone can help you use recovery mode to repair your XP SP3 install.
