Preferred Solution: Lost Data/Recovery must

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I know this may sound stupid and I know I was...

But it was the first time that I had to run the recovery disk and I moved all my important documents to the second partition (E:) and then ran the recovery disk, thinking that it would only format the first partition (C:)...
Well I was wrong.

Can anyone please help me with a way to get the information on my second partition (E:) back?

Answer:Lost of data after using recovery disc - How to get back the data

Hi mate?

I?ve got bad news for you?
The HDD has been formatted by Recovery DVD and this means that all available partitions have been erased!

I?m sorry but I don?t see any options to get back the data :(

Of course there are many companies which are able to rescue the data on damage HDDs of after HDD formatting but in my opinion the costs would be immense?

Hi
I used CLEAN in DISKPART and i delete all partitions of my only disk.
Now i dont have any OS on my laptop and i want recover partition by "Partition Wizard" or "Test Disk" that can boot from CD but i fear that this bootable program overwrite on my only disk to load itself and some part of my data will be lost.
Am i right?
I must apologize because of my weak language skills.

Answer:May i lost my data in recovery by bootable recovery programs?

It depends on how valuable your data was and much you want to spend to get it back. The best chance you would have of retrieving your data would be to take your hard drive to a professional recovery service, explain to them the exact steps you did to delete your partitions and pay the professionals to retrieve your data.

I have successfully - many, many years ago - recovered a deleted partition using software that I purchased, but I can't remember exactly which software it was - I only used it once.

Software such as this:
Free Partition Recovery Software - EaseUS Partition Recovery.

Is meant to be booted from CD/DVD/USB and not write to the hard drive so that it can read possible markers left on the hard drive to indicate where the partitions used to be and restore them.

I have a 300gb Maxtor Drive partitioned into 4 drives...the OS on the hd was Windows Vista...While i was reinstalling XP i accidently formatted the whole drive because it didnt show the rest of the partitions on the screen...by the time i realized what i just did it was already 5% formatted...so i decided to stop it by turning off my computer...

i was wondering if the data (music, files, pictures, etc etc) is still recoverable...if so, what are the necessary steps that i should take to recover it...my friend sent me OnTrack 6.3 EasyRecovery Pro and i went out and bought Search and Recover 4...should i do a clean format on the drive and then run a data recovery software or should i run the software with the drive being 5% formatted...

Hi,

I'm in desperate need of some help. My PC at work decided to shutdown each time it booted up and displayed the desktop it would display a message along the lines on 'Microsoft has detected an error and will shutdown...', then shutdown.

The machine was taken away by the IT guys who at first thought it was a memory issue, I was then told it was a hard drive fault and that they tried to clone the hard drive to a new hard drive but some of the windows system files were corrupt, so they gave me a new hard drive with and loaded a fresh install of Windows 7 and set my faulty hard drive as the slave drive.

The slave drive originally had XP on it.

The problem I have is trying to recover the files from the slave drive, although the drive and structure look in tact the user profile doesn't appear at all, I've unhidden files within 'user' but it just shows up as 'default' with just a bunch of empty folders.

Is there anyway I can recover my profile and more importantly recover my files?

Many thanks

Answer:Recovery of lost data

As your IT guys have tried, I would say NO.
Do your IT guys backup all the PC at work.

First, some info:What anti-malware program are you using? Also, did you create restore disks when you first used the system? What free software did you download and install (the name of the program that keeps creating the ad)?I'm assuming that 'Q:' just doesn't show up in 'Computer', correct? Can you tell me what happens when you go into Start>Search for 'Computer Management'>Storage>Disk Management? Do you see 3 blue boxes in total, and is one of them labeled 'Lenovo Recovery'?Finally, what version of Windows are you using, and on what kind of Thinkpad?

Hi, my question concerns an HP Pavillion Desktop with Windows XP Home Edition Operating System. About a week ago my computer was degenerating to such a condition that it would no longer start up properly: it would not load some of the host process properly at start up and the desk top would not appear. The system would hang up, and the only way I could access files was in safe mode.
So I decided to do a Full System Recovery and allow the computer to restore itself to some sort of usable condition. Upon completing the initial set up I was presented with, I pressed FINISH and the system froze again, refusing to load the desktop.
So, perhaps foolishly, I attempted a System Recovery from the Recovery DVDs the computer had prompted me to make a while ago, as well as a few more System Restores and Recoveries.
Finally after letting the computer run its course for nearly a day, I was able to use the desktop normally again. However, I discovered that some text documents which I had saved directly on to the desktop had disappeared. I scoured the directories looking for them, discovering that the old Documents and Settings from the previous user name (the one I had when I saved the files onto the desktop) would not allow me to access its DESKTOP folder, where I hoped these documents might be.
These documents were not backed up in any other folder, but saved directly to the desktop.
My question is, and I know it's probably a long shot: Is there any hope that I might be able to recov... Read more

Hi,
Actually i saved data in partition, then after added bitlocker security.
I have password and key also.
Then I unlocked it for sometime, Due to my friend mistake, he deleted entire data from drive (which was enabled for bitlock). Data was huge so it just deleted without going to recyclebin.
So now i can recover data with DATA RECOVERY TOOL from partition.
But Its encrypted. bcuz in that drive data was encrypted.
So when i try to access its marked as not read (encrypted).
I think there is no way to put same data back in bitlock cover and unlock it or other solution.
If you have some suggestions, Please suggest.

My girlfriend's laptop seems to be showing symptoms consistent with gradual hard-drive failure (she is losing random bits of data for no reason and is experiencing OS functionality slowdown as well as boot errors). One of the files that 'vanished' was her diary, is there any way to recover this by means of software? (The laptop is still functional and I can run whatever needs to be run). Please get back to me if there is any way to solve this. We tried a data-recovery program but it didn't yield any results, only something that looks like a temp copy of the file. Word couldn't open it because it was corrupted, and I don't think that's the right file anyways since it's only ~160 B, when her diary was a 20 page file (I'm guessing ~100 KB)
Thanks for any help anyone can give.

yes and no depending if you've written OVER the sectors of your data. Go get yourself a program that reads the sectors on the harddrive. A simple search on www.downloads.com will show some results. I believe I used a program called GetDataBack awhile ago. Worked like a charm.

hello,I did a system reset or recovery with Vista ( I have a compaq 610). I have 2 drives, C and D.Without thinking that it would be new formatted etc , I did not make a back-up of my pictures and docs ( I know ....)howver I made a back up a couple of weeks ago thru the HP software on D.If I now look at d it say 2gb of 10 free. Which means that their should be data on....  But when I click on it I see nothing.would anyone know how I can see that data and what is on the D drive?thankschris

Answer:lost data after system recovery

The D: drive probably doesn't contain any backups. It contains a recovery partition. The "backup" procedure you ran through, assuming you didn't burn any discs during the process, likely just backed up your data somewhere on the C: drive, not onto D: (since there would not be room).

I purchased a new Motherboard to upgrade my computer and new SSD drive. I installed Windows 7 again on my new SSD. I had a 3TB Seagate Drive that had 3 partitions. One partition had Windows 7 and system files. The other two had data. Now, one of my data partitions shows as Unallocated. The old Windows 7 partition is totally accessible as well as one data partition. I need to recover the data on the drive from the unallocated partition. I've tried Seatools and EaseUs partition tool. I'm going to try DiscInternals next.

Does anyone have suggestions on recovering a partition that is now unallocated? I imagine the data is still there but the partition isn't being recognized by Windows 7.

Thanks

Answer:Lost Partition - Now Unallocated - Data Recovery

Try a simple partition undelete using Partition Wizard Partition Recovery Wizard - Video Help.

If that doesn't work try data recovery software.

Hi..

A recent attempt to install (downloaded from the HP site) printer software caused my stable XPsp3 Compaq/HP PC to constantly lock within a few mouse clicks from start up. Uninstalling the software didn't help and I couldn't restore to a pre-install restore point. Reinstalling the software from a borrowed disc didn't do anything either.

I ran the Compaq on-board system recovery software from boot up (from a partition on the disc I gather). Rather than go for the more destructive back-to-completely-original option, I went for one that said I'd have to reinstall non-factory software - but that data files would be unaffected.

Lo and behold the near-opposite has occurred: all the self-installed software remains intact but data files from my account have been wiped. My wifes account data is still there however.

I've a recent enough back-up available but will have lost honeymoon photos. At least, they're not available via XP/Explorer - though I assume they haven't been written over yet on disc. Any idea how to go about retrieving these files?

Any help would be appreciated..

Ian

Answer:Recovering lost data after system recovery

GetDataBack to recover the lost files, then I'd wipe the drive and start fresh. You may have had malware and/or HD errors messing up the repair install. The HD may also be failing; it would be a good idea to test it before reinstalling.

Not sure if I'm in the right place, but here goes. I recently did a partial system recovery and when I was done, everything was in it's right place except for one folder. I did a search and located it in USERDATA but was unable to access it. I managed to gain ownership of the folder but when I opened it, the folder was empty! Why would this happen and is there any way I can recover the lost files? I even downloaded a file recovery program but I still cannot find the files although I have found other crap that has been deleted. Does anyone have any advice as to what can be done? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Some data had been been copied to floppies, but a lot was lost. How can this data be recovered?. Does anyone know of a good, freeware, package? Thanks. Bill

My computer (running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit) can no longer access my Western Digital Caviar "Black" 1 TB hard drive that's connected, but I suspect my data to still be in there, so I wonder what data recorvery tools people have used and recommend.

This is one of the additional drives to my operating system C:\ drive. It has been formatted as NTFS and been working fine for several months until a week ago. Now it appears as the E drive on My Computer (as originally configured) but the volume label is now blank (I used to have that named as "Media"). When I double-click on it to enter the drive, I get the error message: "E:\ is not accessible. The parameter is incorrect."

In Computer Management --> Storage --> Disk Management, the drive appears but it's File System is now indicated as RAW rather than NTFS.

I have tried using Active Partition Recovery and that successfully lists my drive with the original label name ("Media") and as NTFS, and also lists the folders located at the root of the drive, which is why I suspect my data to still be in there and recoverable. However, when I use this tool to do a full scan of my disk, it freezes after scanning 35 MB. There are tools out there with varying reliability, so whch ones do people here recommend? (another tool I trired, I forget its name, was scanning my disk but prediced 43 days to go over the entire 1 TB, so that's out of the question!). I have been told to u... Read more

Answer:Data recovery from drive with lost format, software recommendations please

Oh crap. Something like this happened recently to me when I had backed up some data to an USB thumb drive. It worked fine for awhile, then some weeks later, my PC just couldn't read it anymore (kept saying "disk in drive needs to be reformatted/etc"...and the properties for the drive also showed it as RAW format instead of FAT32 like it would have been usually).

I think the issue is drive corruption, which seems to be fairly common with external devices like USB drives, but odd in the case of an internal drive. The remedy for me was to try to access it from a different system, which was easy since being a USB stick I could try it elsewhere easily. If you can use another system to access the drive, preferably a Linux/Ubuntu based one; it is likely your best bet to recoup the data before its lost permanently. An external HDD kit would be ideal, and they are quite cheap also.

Hope this helps!

Hi guys,

I have a serious problem with my Packard Bell Easy Note V7800W.

Since a few days, when I started the PC, Windows would load, then I would login, and then the PC would freeze when loading the desktop etc: I could see my desktop, see the start menu, etc. But could not click on anything. And the same situation would happen even with annother user.

So I tried different things. First, I wanted to restart in safe mode to run a chkdsk. But when I tried starting safe mode, it would just start the normal Windows.

So I saw on the Packard Bell docs that there was a recovery mode I could launch at startup by pressing F11 (or F10, don't remember). The doc mentionned that I would then be able to choose to backup my data and reinstall Windows.

I went ahead. And then things got very wired. After launching, the tool told me no partition was found, and that it was now creating one. Ok. Then I got a menu proposing me to: backup my data and reinstall Windows. Only problem, this option was disabled (radio button disabled). The only option left was to restore at factory default. Of course I didn't want to since I didn't want to loose my data.

Now what am I supposed to do ? When I restart the computer it automatically boots on the recovery partition. I can't boot in any other mode. I inserted a Windows Installation CD (from annother computer), tried running chkdsk but it only finds two partitions: C:/MININT (6GB) and annother one of 16 GB. My DD is 80 GB in total.... Read more

Answer:Serious problem with my Packard Bell - data lost after running recovery tool ?

Hey there, Welcome to Tech Guy forums.

Personally I think the best way forward with this problem is to remove the hard drive out of your computer. If it is IDE (PATA) then you will have to switch the jumpers to make it a slave drive and install it into another working computer and attempt to recover your data off the drive. If it is a SATA drive then you will not have to set the jumpers and should be able to install the drive straight into another computer and be able to access it.

The drive will show up as the 2 partitions that you have mentioned and hopefully your data will be safe in one of those partitions. The other space that isn't accounted for I can only presume has been deleted and made ready to become a partition in which case you may need to use a data recovery program to get he files back or possibly send your hard drive to a professional company to get them to try and recover it for you.

Hi, I am using a T400, window 7, 32 bits. Yesterday I accidentally clicked on  Start > All Programs > ThinkVantage> Create product recovery media or Create recovery media. I am not sure about which programs I clicked on but it appears an open up window asking me if I want to insert recovery disk, then I click no. It disappeared. It didn't tell me anything( like all the data will be lost and there is no progress box either; it happened very fast like in 5 seconds) and then I find that all my data in hard drive D is gone. I can not see hard drive D anymore in My computer. However I can find the partition titled "recovery partition" with 100% free storage in replace for my hard drive D in the storage management of  My computer and I cannot access it. I am so scared that I don't turn off the laptop 'till now. All the programs are working normal because I installed them on hard drive C but all the data on drive D is lost. Anyone has the same problems? I wonder such a serious software but doesn't have any prior notice to customer that it will cause data loss like this? Thanks.

I have 2 problems, mine is recovering data from a DVD-R & a friend is looking for my help in recovering data from a "corrupted" Flash Drive.

I was burning data on a DVD-R multiple sessions disk when my Burner crapped out while using Nero. I now have a new Burner & when I go back into this disk I can only read data from my 1st session when I compare the #s from Nero's disk info tool, however it also shows that session 5 is still open?? but I cannot read anything from sessions 2, 3 & 4. Looking around I spotted CD Recovery Tool Box Free 1.1.7 is there anything more recent and or better that would let me try to recover the data on this disk. The data in session 5 is still on my HD but I would like to be able to recover the data in the other sessions, worst possible case even just the file names would be a small plus.

Now for the Flash Drive. It is a Lexar 8 Gig & what supposedly happened is that Peter lent it to a fellow employee so he could extract some data (probably a mistake). When he got it back a few minutes later & tried to use it all he got was a message that it was corrupted. As it has all of his product codes, phone numbers & personal sales data for the last year he is really desperate to try & recover the data. He does not have a computer of his own, so he has no backup (another bad idea). He has gotten a new Flash Drive a Sony 8 Gig, but I have told him that he better go out & get a 2nd one to use as a back... Read more

Hi everyone..

My external USb Wd mybook box has 1 tb Seagate Sata 3 and i use original Wd disc as W7 installed... in My PC Case as sata II

Today my old problem appears again as Corrupted disc...
I have Get Data Back NTFS (and i used before plenty of times for recovery, loss data or unwanted deletions) but..

This time im stuck.. Becouse the disk i try to recover includes 870 gb (about) used disk space (only audio files) only 50gb (about) empty space... Thats too big for me to recover to other disks.. i don't have enough spaces that my other disks can handle..

I have about 300 gb FREE disk space in several disks or partitions include My thinkpad SL510 Notebook..
---------
So my question is
wit keeping my lost data in corrupted disk first, can i take them slowly to this 300 gb spaces (i know i can) and after create somehow emty space (deleting those recovered 300 gb + 50 on corrupted disk) and
use that empty space for more recovery. ???? Or smilar solutions.. Becouse DISC PRICES IS HEAVY nowadays and really i'm out of budget with buying some
equipments upgrades..
----------
IS THERE ANY PRACTICALLY POSSIBLE SOLUTION even can take very long time..
Like creating slowly slowly some extra spaces (don't know how)

I know i look silly in situation becouse i know u should never write to same disc if you dont want to say goodbye to your files..

E-how happened (not necessary to read these part)

according my experiences Thats the mistakes... DOn't do those at the same tim... Read more

Hi,

Before you write more data or attempt to read data from the drive through Windows, I would suggest using a Live CD like SysRescueCD to boot from and access the HDD.

Dear Friends.
Hope this finds you well!
I'm not certain this is in the best forum, but it is a Windows 7 computer
I was trying to do another sets of DVD's from existing MP4 files from a SanDisk Ultra 32GB card. These would then be used with DVD Flick and ImgBurn to make the DVD's. The first(2) DVD's worked well but somehow a few of the files were not copied entirely. So, I was redoing these again to make certain I had ALL the files for the next (2) DVD's.
These are files my older brother entrusted to me for me to convert them to a DVD format. They are files of his daughters nearly entire basketball season [frames] of about 70 files and were sentimental to him and his daughter.
I feel personally responsible to correct this if it is at all possible!? It could get ugly
It was an honest error on my part as I mistakenly deleted what was titled Video 100 on the SanDisk which contained all these MP4 files. I didn't realize I was removing them from the SanDisk. I'm hoping there is a free date recovery app I could use for this one application so that an expensive license would not be required!?
Thank You in advance for your care, compassion and cooperation. I'm stuck in the mud...
Very Truly Yours,
Raphael

hi
i have a scSi disk 36.4GB, i lost information from it and tried to recover with other recovery softwares to no avail finally i got winhex & got the professional licence.

i can now be able to see all the information on the 1 whole NTFS partition, but the problem is that i can't be able to recover it.
when ever i open the logical drive i can see all the information and most of the information is stack up in a "free space" which is around 33gb which i can be able to see has all the information that i need.
i have tried to recover the free space but its only copied to the location that i specify and no recoveries are made.
recovering the files by type/ name has bore no fruits.

a freind told me i have to curve out that area and use data extractors to get the information out of that area (freee space).

the information in that drive are sql data bases and zip files. whats the header for sql.

what techniques do i use to curve out that space and be abele to extract the information, for i can even read the information in text format.

which are the data extractors available in the market

kindly assist its quite urgent i get this information out

Answer:data extractors / sql header [Hard Drive data recovery]

I don't know where this thread properly belongs -- but I suspect the question may be too esoteric for most here.

Since it involves data recovery from a hard drive I'm going to move it to Hardware, I think "all other software" is not likely to have anyone with this type of experience.

Answer:Minitool Power Data Recovery or Runtime Get Data Back, which

Hi

Both are good programs and i would recommend purchasing both ( if you can afford ). Both has it's own pros and cons.
"GetDataBack" is good at virtual reconstruction of damage/unrecognizable file systems but i personally found it weak at recovering image files. It recovers images but most of them seems to be corrupted in my testings. Also you need to purchase seperate versions for FAT and NTFS ( GetDataBack simple is garbage ).

On the other hand, "Power data Recovery" works with both FAT and NTFS and it is better at recovering image files. Another proven tools is "R-Studio" which has quiet good reputation among DR professionals. It's user interface is not newbie friendly but has lot's of options which no other tools offers.

Answer:Data Recovery of data from laptop hard drives

Am confused with your external kits part.... Anyway, I assume that you have a working lenovo laptop and a working desktop. You try to plug in the lenovo HDD into a USB drive kit and extract data from the desktop. 1) Is the lenovo HDD encrpted? Check the Bios and also if lenovo security software is installed. 2) The fastest way i do it nowadays is to connect both laptop and desktop to a network. Then share the disk drive(s) and extract data from either laptop or desktop. A second option is to remote access the laptop and extract the data. 3) Another possibility is that your laptop is XP, ie the formatting is not AHCI (check the bios under sata), it's in compatible mode. The desktop is using Vista or window 7?

Hi there people. First post so sorry if it's in the wrong place or anything. I've had as much of a search as I can and haven't found anyone with quite the same situation as me. The questions come at the end of the rambling background to my problem!!! Hope you can make it through to the end! My E520 recently just went beyond it's warranty and surprise surprise fairly soon after that I got a warning through ThinkVantage that there was a problem with my internal hard drive. When I googled the problem it said that the hard drive was going to fail and to replace it immediately.  As I (like an idiot) hadn't got round to backing up my computer properly (I'd saved all music, photos and videos to a seperate hard drive but hadn't done a Rescue and Recovery or Windows back up) I went out and bought a seperate hard drive to back up the computer and some disks to create the recovery boot disks.  When I went to the Q drive to do this I misunderstood the question about do I want to create a data back up disk. I thought this meant all my media so I said no and created just the boot recovery disks.  So my question (told you I'd get there) is this. When I replace the internal hard drive and use the boot disks to install windows will I then be able to use the Lenovo Rescue and Recovery to restore my computer to it's former glory? Or will the fact that I'm not restoring the Lenovo skin (sorry if my terminology is wrong here. Not sure what to call it) ... Read more

Hello - please bear in mind that I am not technically proficient, but in fairness i don't think one should be.  As the Lenovo doesn't come with a back-up or recovery disc, I obviously need to make up my own.  I thought that the OneKey recovery system would lead me through it (it says it's "easy-to-use"), but right away I'm confused:  what's the difference between "System Backup" and "System Recovery"?  I keep reading the blurb and I've read the "Help" file, but I'm not getting any closer to understanding  The System Backup seems to require 98.9 GB space, which obviously the hidden drive doesn't have.  I'd need a stack of DVD-Rs for this (I was kind of hoping two or three) or a whole new removable drive  -- does this seem right?  But, again, what am I looking for, a System Backup or a System Recovery?  On my old Acer, it used to lead you through this step by step and it was incredibly simple.  Now, it seems the only simple thing is me.  Any patient help would be much appreciated.  Thanking in advance, Adam K.

Answer:completely lost - Creating a recovery disc for IdeaPad Z580 (and OneKey Recovery)

They are similar. One difference is that if the disk is defective you cant use OKR anymore. Thus you can't do any restoration yourself. You will have to send in your unit to Lenovo to have the disk replaced and your system restored to factory default. You don't need a stack of DVD-Rs to save your backup ... System backup files can be saved in an external Hdd drive plus the creation of a Repair DVD disk for startup and restoration purposes.

I bought lenovo thinkpad X230 in January 2013. I made a recovery USB on a 16 GB pendrive. I bought a windows 8 pro upgrade offer as well. But i did not install it at that time and kept it for future use.  About a week ago I installed windwos 8 on my system in dual boot mode making a partition on primary HDD.everything went ok with only problem that my windows 8 did not activate. I was ok with that. But when i tried F11 recovery function, it was not working. So i tried factory reset through recovery USB i created earlier. It opened up and said BOOTMGR missing. Later with some research I realized that i didnt make USB active (bootable) before burning it.(Though this is ridiculous considering, tools provided must have done that. Like when you make windows bootable.) With all this(and me panicking), I tried backing up my data with image i created through R & R tool. After back up, I lost my recovery partition on HDD. And I guess i accidentally deleted System_DRV partition as well.  Though my computer is running fine. I need a bootable media. it would be great if you can provide it. Also if you can restore my comp to factory setting with recovery partition, it would be great. Please help me. Thanks in advance.

You can either get a hold of Vista installation disks and install it manually, or call Lenovo support and ask for recovery disks. They may charge you for the disks as you are supposed to create your own recovery disks.

Hi,

I have been using a Kingston 1gb data traveler to store work however as I was saving my word document to go home Word 2007 crashed and restarted itself, it did not however bring up any autorecover options. I therefore thought everything was ok and pulled out the USB. When I tried to plug this in again it says 'USB device not recognized' This device may have malfunctioned etc. It then proceeds to install the USB as an unknown device and appear like this in the device manager.

I desperately need to recover this data, I was designing a website and had 25 pages of text on the USB stick.

What I've Tried

Plugging the USB in another machine. This bought up exactly the same error

Downloading a Data Doctor Recovery Pen Drive tool. This however did not recognise a USB as being in the system and thus did not work.

Is there anything I can do to rescue this data?

P.s. I use Vista 32-bit Business.

(BTW if this is in the wrong forum then please tell me and then move as appropriate. Thanks.)

Yesterday I was trying to put my Packard Bell iMedia 1601 running Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 to sleep and I got a blue screen with the following error codes:

STOP: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x835C7A98, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000)

Following that, I could not boot in any mode further than the Microsoft Windows XP loading screen, at which point the same blue screen was displayed.

Today I decided to go ahead with a Packard Bell Partial Recovery, which allows you to retain your data. At first the System Restore (on the first screen) and Partial Recovery (on the second screen) options were greyed out, and then System Restore randomly became available, so I tried that, got an error message, clicked "OK" the first time and closed it the second time and both times it restarted. Then Partial Recovery was suddenly available.

So I went ahead with that and when it came to the screen where it asked me what user I wanted to retain the only option was "No Profile". Thinking that my data would still be in the place the instructions said it would be (C:\documents and settings\[Chosen user name]) I went ahead with "No Profile". The recovery ran and the computer restarted, and Windows started up again as if it was the first time I'd ran the computer. So I created the two user accounts that had previously existed and then logged in with mine. A... Read more

COULD NOT FIND RECOVERY ENVIRONMENT
(I know it's a redundant thread but I think I'm having a different scenario)
Specs: (nothing's changed except I did reinstall win8.1)
- win8.1 x64 single languange
- 1TB HDD
■THE SCENARIO■
There was a time when I want to resize my drive C to smaller partition:
I used Easus Partion Manager to do so (to dumb I was). After rebooting my system could not start
The BSOD showed up:

PC needs repair (blah3x)
Error code: 0x000225
I was able to manage to repair and I came back up fine using a tutorial in youtube
using bcdboot C:\Windows /s (any drive letter): /s uefi
At this point, I downloaded a new copy of windows8.1 SL, thru "mediacreationtool" (as a legit copy i suppose)
and then I reinstalled using the ISO from MS, now I'm totally OK, at least at the moment.

■THE ISSUE■
Seems like everything's working as it is now, but as soon as I try to press F9 upon boot up, same error popup
Error Code: 0x000225, and again I got used to doing the bcdboot method.
NOW, this "Restore" partition the size of 20GB, and appeared and it had something in it (some files I think).

This wasn't there before and after reinstallation of win8.1 SL. IT ONLY appeared when I pressed F9 then I repaired
it using bcdboot.

Hiya... I managed to lose one of my HDD's with all my multimedia on it and have been trying unsuccessfully to regain it with PCINSPECTOR.The HDD ISNT where my windows is installed and has become corrupted; something happened with the partition and it went kablooey. The problem i seem to be having with PCINSPECTOR is that it comes up with; for example "Cluster386.MP3" and it doesn't work. Is it something wrong with how im using PCI or something like that. I scan for drives...Choose "NONAME on FIXED DISK 2", scan for logical drives... and withing the first ten seconds it comes up with two partitions... Choosing the second one i get these files and the first one nothing. Scanning them for FAT. So basically am i using "PCI FR" properly am i doing something wrong and/or, is there a cheap, better alternative with results?Patch.Sorry guys bt i managed to fix this with the use of a different program... Awesome program I'm gonna plug it now "R Studio," well worth the investment... My Multimedia was worth the $80 odd...

Ipad 3 has recently shown the apple logo boot problem. Sticks at apple logo then blank screen and won't turn on. Been quoted at £350 for data recovery from hard drive, wondering if there is any free or cheaper solutions to retrieve data from the ipad before i wipe it with a restore. Either that or if post restore you can recover files. I can get it into recovery mode an dfu mode and only really need to save notes files that were saved on it. Tried Wondershare Dr Ifone and it isn't recognising my machine when in either recovery or dfu mode. I have no backups saved on itunes or icloud.

2 Get Windows copy to install. All Toshiba drivers/utilities you can download from [Toshiba Driver Page|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp]
If you need assistance in driver installation order, can help you

The product key she has belongs to original recovery image you got with your notebook and it is not some ?universal key? that you can use with every OS installation.

Hi, guys. I had tried to reformat my G460 previously using the one key recovery. But half way through the recovery there is a error pop up and stop the recovery. And caused my computer to have a winboot.exe error whenever I start up. I had lost the recovery CD.Please advise on what I can do. I had search the web for Lenovo recovery CD Iso file. But I cannot find it.Thanks in advance and wish u guys a happy Chinese New Year!!

Answer:G460 lost recovery CD, One key recovery cannot recover

HI Kuniyo ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Assuming that the harddrive integrity is still ok , you may simply proceed to a clean installation of windows if other repair option would not work .

Copy of  the recovery image can be ordered at tech support for your OS version specific to your pc along with the preset drivers needed . Do you stillo recall the windows version you had originally?

Alternate option is to get your ISO similar to the original Windows version that came with your pc .
This would automatically activate the product key embedded on the system .
You may review similar discussion and steps that was previosly done on this thread.

With regards to the drivers , simply download it from the support site.

Hi all, i am requesting some technical assitance in solving this issue.

i have a hard disk that has been recently affected by [email protected] virus and all the .doc and xls files have been reduced to 1kb irispective of their initial sizes and when you open the files you get this error; DATA Error [47 0F 94 93 F4 K5]

I would like to recover the affected files to their original state, i have searched the internet over and no one seems to have the solution documented

currently i am trying to download QuickView Plus (Version 8), i have tried all aplications i can come across, including recover my files, winhex, get data back for ntfs, and r-studio.

i am honestly intrested in documenting the solution to this problem, and am intrested in suggestins on the best way to approach this

looking forward to your favourable reply.

regards

Answer:DATA Error [47 0F 94 93 F4 K5] Data Recovery

You will most likely need to restore those files from a backup. But don't do anything until you've made sure the virus is gone. Don't want to reinfect the files.

Hi,

I have a larged data drive that failed a disk check. It stalls when starting stage two (I belive that is the verification of indexing). I have been able to back-up all of the folders except for a large folder of raw video. The PC locks up when I attempt to access/copy this folder (it appears to be part of the problem). I want to make an attempt to recover this data before reformatting the drive.

The check disk fails both at start up or if I run from the desktop both in regular and safe mode. Does anyone have tips for recoverying this data?

Answer:Data Recovery of data drive

You could try using a 98 boot disk and then run ntfsdos from there to access the ntfs partitions. Then try an xcopy of that file to another drive.

Another method could be to use Winrar to create a multipart archive and store it on another drive. This might chunk it up enuff.

Or boot to recovery console from the CD and then run chkdsk /r which marks any sectors that are corrupt as bad so they will not be used again, even after format. All take some time, but they are readily availalble fixes.

Alternatively, you could create an image of the drive and save that somewhere else, then run your drive manufacturers disk utility to check integrity of the disk.

Hope this helps

Hello, could anyone suggest a good Data Recovery that can use for formatted drive and File Recovery for repairing corrupted files.

regards,
Peter

Answer:Data Recovery and File Recovery

There is no way to repair corrupted files. They are after all corrupted. You can recover files using various methods. Recuva is one of the tools I have used in the past. But once a file gets corrupted there is no chance to get it back.

Question: Lost Data

I run windows vista on my pc. But I was having some issues which seemed to be caused by my new graphics card. A friend of mine recomennded that install XP on a different hard drive to see if the problem was a driver issue.

So I booted XP from the CD and waited for the instruction to folllow. But no instructions did follow. It didnt let me select a partiton and formatted the c: drive. Anyway I contiuned the installation as vista seemed to have gone with the wind.

Anyone so now all the data on my C drive has gone, but all the data on my back up E: drive has gone as well. Overall I'm not too worried, but their were some videos on there and some data I'd hate to lose. Is there anyway to recover this data even though the drive has been formatted and a new OS has been installed or is it gone for good?

If anyone could let me know ASAP so I can get Vista re-installed again and prepare to kill my friend! I'm reluctant to install anything incase it re-writes over old and hidden data.

Any Help appreciated.

Question: I Lost Some Data

I was cleaning up some FileMaker files. The wrong ones went away. So I did some finds and looked everywhere for these files. They are gone!

I selected 2 files to move to the trash. When I moved them, the wrong ones disapeared. I didn't empty the trash or delete anything. However, I have searched everything and looked at every potential link. They just disappeared!

First, how can that happen? It didn't ask if I wanted to delete, etc., etc., or anything. Second, is there another possibility for me to look at? Could they have been hidden? Surely, there is no way to delete files without being asked if I really wnat to delete them!

This is very upsetting.

Answer:I Lost Some Data

If you think the files could be hidden, you can enable the ability to view hidden files in the Folder & Search Options.

Code:
Organize > Folder & Search Options > View Tab > Show Hidden Files, Folders and Drives
If you believe the files were deleted accidently, you can use a program like Recuva to recover them.

If you'd like a different explorer shell, there are quite a few options, here are a few:

xplorer?
XYPlorer
FreeCommander
DirectoryOpus

Question: lost data on CD-R

I have recently downloaded some data on my computer onto a CD-R which had some previous data downloaded on it using ?Sateiera Drop To CD? which I obtained from a CD which came with PC Advisor some time ago. After downloading the new data onto the CD-R I cannot find the original data that was on the CD although the free space that was available on the CD prior to the latest download has been reduced after the latest download meaning that the original data is still on the CD somewhere but I cannot find it. Have you any ideas as to how I can find the original data as it is still taking up space on the CD. The new data shows up after the download but not the original data that was on the CD-R. Hope you can help goldenorbs

Question: lost data

i saved a bunch of data to a portable hard disk - all in the root directory. i also installed an app-usb secure-which controls the hard disk. since the data was so mixed up, i created some folders to organize it. now can't open the hard disk-when i try, i get an error message "application not found". so i think i moved the security app by accident. any ideas on how to open the hd and/or retrieve the data?

Answer:lost data

Have you tried re-installing USB Secure?

You might want to clean up your folder and registry the best you can beforehand, or see if "Remove Programs" will function, first. Other wise reinstall to the same location as before.

Answer:lost data

When you reinstalled the OS, did you perform a clean install or an implace upgrade or repair?

Clean install wipe out the drive - format reinstall
Repair - choose repair option
Implace upgrade reinstalled windows over itself

Also are all the old application available or you had to reinstall them?

If you look at C:\ Document and Settings do you see your old profile which contains the old data?
Have you tried to do a search for the all data using windows search?

Question: lost of data!

I have recently attempted to upgrade a Dell PowerEdge 840 server from 2 mirrored and dynamic 500gb drives to 2 1TB mirrored drives. The SAS 5/ir controller had the 2nd mirrored pair removed and I now need to recover the data from the 2 500gb drives (approx 400gb of data). I am unable to restored the raid 1 configuration from the drives back to the controller (after 5+ hours of phone support with Dell).

When I connect each drive seperately to another system, they come up as Unallocated and show up as having been Dynamic drives in the mirrored set. I am currently attempting a data recovery on one of the drives, but looking for a speedier and more effective way to recover the important data fromt he 2nd mirrored drive.

Any assistance is GREATLY appreciated.

Dear Friends,

I have a Fujitsu Siemens desktop pc bought 3 years ago.
Yesterday when I restarted it then I got message to enter a new name of pc, and new username name and password. In other words the message I got was someting about like I am setting up a brand new pc.

I lost all my previous work
Opera, Fire Fox, Microsoft Office (Word Excel, Power Point, Outlook), Nero, McAfee, every thing I lost

After I created new name to my pc and new username and password, I reinstalled again some few programs that I already have on cd. But stored lots of files into Opera that was my main Internet Browser.

Is that possible to look after my previous data (My old pc name & Username and Password)?

Answer:Please help . . . I lost all my data

Hi GR7.

Is it possible that you've triggered a system restore to factory defaults from the recovery partition?

Is it possible that you have more than 1 HDD, or more than 1 partition on a single HDD that you've logged in to?

Question: Help on Lost Data

I have a Dimensions E520 with the OS being Vista. I have had numerous problems with certain programs. A month ago I rebooted my computer after windows were updated. Once rebooted all my files/documents weren't there. The programs are still there though. So, for a month I have been not working on my computer and using my laptop. But I am needing to obtain certain docs that were on there a month ago.

I had done a backup a month and a half ago and tried to restore using that backup. But for some reason it doesn't want to restore with that backup. So, now I am at lost because I do alot of work on this computer which now I don't have my original docs.

My computer looks like its a brand new system and I am afraid that I have to re-enter information for my quicken and so forth. Is there some way that I can retrieve all those files via my hard drive?

It would be appreciated if someone can lend some advice on how I can get it back to what I had from a month ago.

So, please someone help me. I know that it may be that I have to re-enter information but if there was a way that I can retrieve what I had before on the drive it would be helpful.

Thanks

Hi -

This is the real thing we need to see about fixing :

"it doesn't want to restore with that backup"

Why do you think this is happening - do you get some sort of message saying it's unable to? Screen grabs are always nice.

Question: Lost Data

Okay, first thing, I now have a backup solution in place, but unfortunately I didn't when this went down. And obviously I'm deeply regretting it. I hoping that someone here will recognize my issue and help discover a solution.

Here's what happened:

I moved a secondary drive 120gb (FAT32) out of one computer directly into another system of mine. Both are running Win2000. When I moved the drive it was setup as a secondary drive in the new system, but it had a slave DVD drive under it so i needed to make a minor change to the jumpers. When I first booted the system up, it recognized the drive. All seemed good, but when I went to get some data from the drives I realized that many of the directories (almost all of them) were represented by random symbols and numbers. I ran a checkDSK on the drive which started after reboot. It stopped almost half way through due to lack of space on the drive. It stopped and rebooted. I noticed that when windows came back it had the directory structure back, but in some cases (about 30-40%) where there was once directories, now there we just files with the same name as the directories that were missing. The weirdiest thing is, is that although there doesn't seem to be a direct way to get to these "missing" directories, the data space is still taken up. My hard drive doesn't have anymore free space than it did before this happened. So, all this being said I think the data is still there, I just can't get to ... Read more

You could try repair install if the pc gives you the option/

1 - Boot with the Windows XP CD press any to boot XP disk
2 - Boot with the Windows XP CD and at the Setup Screen press Enter
3 - You will be taken to the Windows XP Licensing Agreement. After reading the agreement press F8 to proceed.
4 - The next screen gives you the option to do a fresh (clean) install or to repair the selected Windows XP installation. To run a Repair Install Press "R" at this time.
**Note** if you do not see the option to repair the selected Windows XP installation DO NOT choose the option to continue... Read more

Answer:lost data

Did you happen to create a restore point on that computer? If you did, it'll restore all things to that point, including all files that have been created since then. So, if you do this, proceed with caution. Alternately, there should be a folder containing the users contents. As far as e-mails go, you still should be able to log into the email and retrieve those. As far as the contacts, shouldn't that be with the email account? If not, those might be saved in the folder for that particular user. Make sure you're logged in as the administrator, and you should be able to access all the files.

Question: Lost data

Had a post it note type software that would display several notes everytime I booted. I tried to use system restore and found it turned off. Don't know how it was switched. Possibly a virus or software bug. Is there another way to restore to a previous date using third party software?

Answer:Lost data

Sorry to hear of your issue.  If you do not have any system restore points, then, as far as I know (and I am not an expert), you are pretty much stuck.  There are programs that will recover files, but none that I have heard about (so far) that will re-install programs that have disappeared.  Did you check the Control Panel (Uninstall Programs) to see if the program is still showing as installed?  If so, is there a "Repair" option if you click uninstall?  Some programs come with a repair capability to repair the program files and registry entries if something has become corrupted.

Personally, I rely on full system images done weekly on both of my computers, plus daily backups of any changed data files.  Nothing "forgets" faster than a computer.  Backups are really worth the effort.  There are lots of great products out there (Easeus, Macrium, etc.).

Hope this was of some help.  Have a great day.

-Phil

Question: Lost data

I think I might have posted this in the wrong area. If I have, I apologize.

I have a huge problem. I am currently writing a paper and after saving it (I'm sure I saved it) I came back an hour later and tried to open the Microsoft Word file. Unfortunately, all the work I had done before the last time I saved it was not there. I searched and searched but it is nowhere on my computer. And it clearly says that I modified it at the correct time. Is there any possible way that I can retrieve this lost data? I am so desperate for anything.

Thank you.

Answer:Lost data

Well, you could try opening the file in, say, MS Write. I doubt that would work though.

Had your computer rebooted in the time you went away? If so, did it not shut down properly? If so, then that could cause the problem. If it is caused by that, then scandisk would have saved "lost data" in a directory called "FOUNDxxx" (i think), where the Xs stand for numbers. Look in the file(s) stored there (in write or notepad) and see if they contain your lost data.

Good luck.

Question: Is the data lost?

A friends laptop with all his work died. We have removed the HD and connected it ot a usb connection but just get errors and asks to format. Have tried HDD regenerator, easy recovery, getdatabackfor fat, file recover and some more with no luck. just errors. I take it that the drive is bad even though it makes noises.

Answer:Is the data lost?

You might be able to save the drive,

Using 2.5 cable adapter from laptop HDD to 3.5 desktop HDD connector. Best bet is to either find someone who has this type of setup or go buy the connectors yourself. You would still need to get Norton Ghost or opensource version to clone that bad drive to a new 2.5 HDD for the laptop. If it's really really bad and you get errors while cloning or backup then you're out of luck. You could put the drive in the refg to cool it then it again. Another way it to take a screw driver and tap it a few times lightly, don't go crazy. There are companies out there that can recover the data for you, but at a high price.
