Need to reassign keyboard key values

Question: Need to reassign keyboard key values

I need to reassign keyboard key values. I need to copy 60,000 pages derived from a database program and I have no way to do this except hand copy the pages by doing a Ctrl-c on every page plus other keystrokes. Here is my need. I need to reassign or assign the following values to the following keystrokes. Setting up a macro within the program I need to copy from is not possible as no macro capability exists.

Ctrl-1 needs to equal TAB
Ctrl-2 needs to equal copy or Ctrl-c
Ctrl-3 needs to equal shift-tab
Ctrl-4 needs to equal down arrow key

I think there used to be a way to do this in the old DOS days but I have forgotten how. I cannot find a macro program on the web to do this quickly and reliably.

The database program I am trying to copy is a program using .idx, .ndx, and .dat files. In an earlier thread I asked if anyone on the board knew of any file viewers. If I cannot find any file viewers, I will have to copy all the pages by hand.
Thank you in advance.

Preferred Solution: Need to reassign keyboard key values

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Need to reassign keyboard key values

If you have 2K or XP, there is a REMAPKEY.EXE in the Resource Kit that does exactly what you want. I've been led to believe that utility from the Windows Server 2003 WRK will work just fine. Here's a site that appears to allow downloading of individual Windows Resource Kit Modules for each Windows version, I just downloaded REMAPKEY.EXE for 2K to see if there was any problem, seems fine.

Hi all.I'm setting up my new T460P to substitute my glorious W520, and I'm very sad about the choise at the moment. I cannot figure out how to change the boot order in the BIOS.I get into the bios (not so easy and not so stable...), go to the boot order and then... I should press the "+ or -" key to move the objects up and down through the list. I tried everything. I think near any combination of keys, but nothing.I cannot find the right key combination to send the "+" or "-". Could you please help me to change the values in the BIOS of my T460P? Thank you very much!

Hi, I am facing a weird problem. I have done multiple virus scans, PCDoctor etc. I eventually had to use an external keyboard just to login and keep working. If I press a key on the keyboard the value typed is something different.: key  a --> value typed `akey s --> value typed F1 so help comes up each timekey f --> value typed 5fkey j --> value typed 6jkey k --> value typed =kkey ; --> value typed -;key 5 --> value typed 5fkey 6 --> value typed 6jkey - --> value typed -;key = --> value typed =k Does anyone have any idea what to do about this? I read Pavan's post and it sounds like the only option is to replace the keyboard. It's almost as if the following keys are 'locked together': 5 and f, 6 and j, = and k, - and ; etc. Isn't there some weird lock activated? What is the reason this has happened? Thanks!Adele

Answer:Thinkpad 3000 C200 Keyboard problem!! Key Values are different

I found a post on a Dell laptop with the same issue... this guy said he used the built-in hardware diagnostics and identified the following conjoined pairs of keys (for this issue): 2 and 3; w and e; s and d; x and c; F1 and F2; and CAPS LOCK and F3. He eventually discovered that the keyboard connector ribbon has a predilection for coming loose underneath the keyboard, and that re-seating it can fix problems like these. He pulled out the ribbon, dusted it off and it all worked again. Now I am not a hardware techie, any other ideas about what this could be? Thanks!Adele

Hello Everyone,
(This is kind of long but I didn't know how else to explain everything)

There are two parts to my question below.

I have a spreadsheet with roughly 40 columns

An Example of some of the columns would be:

Code:

B1 = Client Name E1 = Travel F1 = Backup G1 = PC Install H1 = Data Recovery | X1 = Total | AE1 = Summary
B2 = Tony Smith E2 = $70.00 F2 = $0.00 G2 = $95.00 H2 = $0.00 | X2 = $165.00 | AE2 = (See Below)
B3 = Tom Daniel E3 = $70.00 F3 = $0.00 G3 = $0.00 H3 = $725.00 | X3 = $795.00 | AE3 = (See Below)
B4 = Rene Little E4 = $70.00 F4 = $125.00 G4 = $95.00 H4 = $995.00 | X4 = $1285.00 | AE4 = (See Below)

Currently this spreadsheet is being analyzed to be used to track field technician jobs and figure everything out for accounting.

I have been asked to please make a cell with a list of the information above so that accounting can just copy and paste from that cell into quickbooks in order to send these people out a receipt instead of having to retype everything into quickbooks. This list has to be based upon whether or not there is a value greater than 0 within that cell then it will grab both the heading cell in the first row and the value of that cell it was checking and place it as a line item in another cell.

I know how to do half of what they are asking and if I was dealing with 1 column I can do the other half.

I know how to list items in 1 cell using the c... Read more

In sheet 1 Column A has current values, Column B has the new value for each entry.

Column A Column B
Old value New Value

Document 1 SOP-001
Document 2 SOP-002
Document 3 SOP-003

In sheet 3 has a list of entries
Column A

Document 1
Document 3
Document 3
Document 2
Document 1

What formula can I use to automatically replace the value SHEET3:ColumnA with the appropriate value from SHEET1:column B? The lists are quite long. Resulting in a list on sheet 3 that looks like this:
SOP-001
SOP-003
SOP-003
SOP-002
SOP-001

Answer:Solved: Excel-Substitute values from a list of new values

Hi bongiojf, welcome to TSG.

You can do this with a vlookup formula, assuming that the old values are in the leftmost column and that they are sorted alphabetically.

On sheet 3, in column B (or any blank column) use this formula for the first cell and then copy it down the rest of the column:

=VLOOKUP(A1,Sheet1!$A$1:$B$3,2)

Change the range $A$1:$B$3 to be the range of data you have on Sheet 1. The number 2 at the end of the formula indicates that the new values are in the second column from the left. If they are not, change the number accordingly. For example, if they are in column D, the value would be 4.

Once you have the new data in your blank column, you can copy the column and paste special/values over the existing data on sheet 3.

Hope that helps.

'm making a spreadsheet that i want to be able to sort by date. The problem is, I have different levels of specificity for the dates - for some, we just have a year ("2000") or month and year ("December 2014") or a range ("2013 - 2014"). i want those to remain displayed as quoted in parenthesis, but I know I need to go down to mm/dd/yy to keep the sort right. So I'm okay with "2000" sorting as 1/1/2000 - but I can't figure out a way to have a different underlying value from what it actually sorts on, other than the very tedious different custom formatting for different types of dates. Ideally: I'd want to have these columns - "Date (Sort)" and "Date (Display)"...I want to be able to hide the sort column, but still have "Date (Display)" sort based on the values in the sort column. if there's a way to conditionally format for how it's displayed based on whether i enter month/day or just year, but still have it treated as a date in mm/dd/yyyy format for sorting - that would be even better.
Is there a way to do this?

I want to insert into my database; 1 of the fields is a 'created' field. eg if its August then is I need to create a variable in vb with August in it. ANd Date onComm is Today's date (now).But the rest of the fields are from an linked xcel spread sheet. How do I code this? At present I have in SQL
INSERT INTO CommCustomer ( Accno, Contractno, DateonComm, Amount, CommDate )
SELECT [ Acc] AS Accno, Milcar.[Contract No ] AS Contractno, Now() AS DATEonComm, [ Rec] AS Amount, MonthName([DateonComm],True) AS CommDate
FROM Milcar
WHERE ((([ Rec])<>0));

But I get invalid procdure call; I actually want it in VB.

sql = "Insert INTO CommCustomer (Accno,CommMonth,Contractno,DateonComm,Amount)" & _
"SELECT "[ Acc], [Contract No ], [ Rec], " & _
" FROM Milcar " & _
" WHERE Rec <> 0 ;"

So my question is how do I insert 2 fields that are not from the select clause - I actually need to use values from them?

Hello!

I was wondering if anybody knew how to reassign or even better set my F-keys to "nothing"... so I can set their own values in programs I use like Ventrilo and such. Is there a way to set both F-keys and Multimedia keys (when F-Lock is on) to do nothing?

I have a Logitech Elite keyboard... and I *think* if I set each key to "Transparent Pass-Through"... will this do what I want it to do from above? Thanks for your help!

Answer:How do reassign F-Key functions?

There should be the option in the Logitech software you installed. I have a Logitech LX700 wireless combo and i was able to assign my buttons for things like this. I would check the Logitech software first and see if that has the options you are looking for.

Hi all!

I assigned, by mistake, obviously, the ZIP extension to WinRAR. Now I want to reassign it back to Vista's integral Compressed (zipped) Folder, as I'm used to work with it since XP.
But it seems I can't do it... I can't find the files types list (used to be in Tools>Folder Options>Files in XP), I don't see the Compressed (zipped) Folder option when I try the right click>Open With menu and I can't find the Compressed (zipped) Folder executable.
So how do I reassign the ZIP extension back to Compressed (zipped) Folder?

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Reassign ZIP extension

I don't have vista but can you try to right click on the archive and select "open with" the go down to choose program then choose compressed zipped folders? Then look for a check box that says always use this program to open this kind of file?

That works in xp anyway...

I've installed Windows 7 to a new partition from within an old Windows installation. I was unaware that doing this retains all the drive letters -- my old installation is still C:, and my new one is on Z:.

The problem here is that a lot of programs fail to install if the OS drive isn't C:\. Every time I try something it's missing DLL that, target directory this. So I want to swap those letters around.

When I try to change my primary OS drive letter to C, though, I get the error The parameter is incorrect. I've rebooted and tried again, with no luck. The C:\ letter is free.

I've Googled this problem, but all the results are unhelpful. What should I do here?

Answer:Can I reassign my OS drive letter?

Changing the drive letter of the system drive will do nothing but cause more problems. I'm not aware of anyone doing it successfully, and Microsoft expressly warns not to attempt it unless doing so is to fix an unintentional change due to hardware issues.

The fix is to backup your system, re-install Windows, and re-load your software and data.

Hi,

One of my ports does not accept any other USB keys but the first one used to install the logitech mouse.

So I'd like to free this port in order to use it for another need, just for convenience because also my comm ports number is limited.

thanks
JG

Answer:reassign comm ports under W7 SP1

Hi jgaude and Welcome to TSF,

An USB port is never bound to a specific device and can't be blocked in that way. What exactly happens when you put something other than the Logitech mouse in that Drive? Do you hear the connect/disconnect sound of the device? Do they show up in Device Manager? (Start > Search > devmgmt.msc)

There could be a driver conflict perhaps, so you could try uninstalling the Logitech mouse driver from the Device Manager mentioned above swell, but this is highly unlikely.

Question: Reassign Comm Port

Hi,

I have install new USB to Serial device but it is set to comm port 16.
I am using a old program that need access to comm port but it only allow access to comm port 1 to 10.

Currently Vista have used up comm port 1 to 15.
In Device Manager> Ports (Com & LPT), I can only see Com1 and LPT1.

How to find the program or device that is using other comm ports (1 to10) so that I can uninstall/delete it and reassign the comm port to the USB to Serial device?

All help will be much appreciated.

Answer:Reassign Comm Port

Hi,
Welcome to TSF!

Right click the Command Prompt icon and select "Run as Administrator"

Type
"set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1" - without the quotes

then enter

then type

"start devmgmt.msc" without the quotes

In the box that opens, select "Show hidden devices" in the 'view' menu.

Now if you expand the section on COM ports, all the COM ports that have ever
been created will be displayed, the non present ones being in grey. You can
uninstall away anything that you don't want (right click, select uninstall).

To hide again the nonpresent devices

type

"set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=0" - without the quotes

Just installed a Maxtor 250gb hard drive. Used MaxBlast 3 to install as replacement boot drive ( so I could use original drive for storage). Copied original C drive, powered down system, switch cables and jumpers making new drive master and old drive slave. Restart system, new drive boots but is assigned as H, old drive remained C. Powered down again, disconnected old drive. Powered up, system booted but locked up during windows load. Connected old drive as slave again, system started fine. Almost reinstalled XP, installation program recognized new drive as C, stopped when I found this forum. Any ideas??

Answer:XP Pro won't reassign drive letters

Don't use MaxBlast unless there is no other way to recognize the full capacity, it'll only drive you NUTS!

I'd put the small drive as the primary boot drive again, and remove the drive overlay software from the 250gig drive and use XP's Disk Management to partition and format it. If you're going to use it as a boot drive, you'll need to use the image copy utility from Maxtor, NOT the drive overlay software, and copy the image to the new drive before swapping them.

Good morning,

I will try to explain this best to my knowledge. I have a worksheet that will work as a report. This report will be based on Contracts. In one file (Physical) I can have multiple contracts. All linked to the same file number.

Example if file number 1234-45678 as 2 contracts then my code will automatically add the information required, adding 2 contracts for file number 1234-45678.
Therefore my initial row 5 (Example only) will add a new row underneath and will add the following information:

A5: 1234-45678 B5: 002 C5: 1234-45678/001/HS
A6: 1234-45678 B6: 002 C6: 1234-45678/002/HS

So my column A will always be the same linking the 2 contracts. 1234-45678/001/HS and 1234-45678/002/HS belong to file number 1234-45678.

If I need to make an amendment, in house an amendment is to make modification to a contract. In my column B I will always have the amount of contracts. In the example above the amount for Contracts is 002.

If I make an amendment and the reason of the amendment is a Termination, therefore cancelling one contract to create another one, I need to be able to change all information in my Column B vs All information from Column A. So for Example:

If
A5: 1234-45678 B5: 002 C5: 1234-45678/001/HS
A6: 1234-45678 B6: 002 C6: 1234-45678/002/HS
And I need to make the above modification then I need to add another Contract but change all information from my Column B (Made in a userform, already establish). So the above example will become:

A5: 1234-45678 B... Read more

I use 2 way radio programming software that works fine on an IBM T30 running XP. Settings are Port 1 and 57600 baud. In properties...the software allows use of ports 1 thru 4....BUT only works on 1, all others give me invalid port error message. I also have a Lenovo T61 that is running Vista (yeah, I know) same program....but the settings wont work. Ports 1, 2, and 4 all give invalid port message. 3 doesn't give message, BUT also doesn't work. It just sits there.... Can the ports be changed....or assigned? I really need this laptop to work, as I cant be in 2 places at once.....

Answer:Change or reassign Ports 1, 2, 3 & 4 in Vista

Is the software from an earlier era? Have you tried it with DOS?

I've seen other postings complaining about this or similar problems, but the suggested fixes did not work for me. I use an external hard drive (E for backing up my photos and other documents on my internal hard drive (C. Suddenly, my computer isn't recognizing my external hard drive at the E: location. Instead, it moves it to a different letter, and does this (changes the letter) every time I unplug the drive and plug it back in. So it will be J, for example, instead of E. When I pull it out and re-insert it, it becomes drive K. Then L. Then M, etc.

Following the advice of those here and elsewhere, I went into Computer Management and used XP's tool for reassigning the drive letter. However, E: was not listed as an option in the drop-down menu! The only options were letters N-Z.

When I restart my computer, it's usually back to E. What's wrong with my system, and how can I lock the drive to the E letter?

Mod Edit, disable smiles.

Answer:Can't Reassign Hard Drive Letter

Needless to say, I didn't intentionally insert those smiley faces. My state of mind right now is anything but smiley. Of course, I'm talking about the C drive and the E drive, sans smiley faces.

As the title says, I want to reassign my function key to the context menu key. Why? because I have not used the function key in 2 years and it's a pain to keep taking my hand of the keyboard to reach 10 centimeters to right click on my mouse.

Preferably I would like to achieve this without any 3rd party programs.

Thanks

PS. My keyboard is Logitech mk710 keyboard mouse combo

Forgive me if this is in the wrong place. It seems to apply to hardware, but it could also possibly count as a games problem.

For a while, I've been unable to run Rise of the Triad, Blood, or any Build engine FPS games with any sound (I've just recently been able to get the music back for some reason, though). I used to be able to, but it just suddenly stopped one day, seemingly unprovoked. When I frob the settings in the games' Setup programs, it always says the problems are with a conflicting DMA channel, no matter what DMA settings I choose.

The Device Manager lists my sound card as "Aztech 2320 Compatible PnP Audio (WDM)" version 1.0.01 (it came with the computer, and the computer itself is relatively old. It's still running Windows 98). Under the Resources tab, I got this:

Interrupt Request 5
Direct Memory Access 01
Direct Memory Access 00

Now, the IRQ 5 and DMA 1 are all well and dandy. The problem is with the second DMA being set to 0. The games I'm trying to run can only use channels 0, 1, or 3 for the 8-bit DMA, and 5, 6, or 7 for 16-bit. I tried to reassign one of the card's DMAs, but it won't accept any values other than 0, 1, or 3 for either slot. Anything else, and it says "Windows cannot determine if the setting you have selected conflicts with another device." This is rather interesting, because according to my System Information, 5, 6, and 7 are all free.

I figure one possible solution would be t... Read more

Hi. I've been using a ThinkPad T400 for years and just bought a new X1 Yoga. The T400 had back/forward keys just above the left/right arrows which I found very useful for browsing the internet. The Yoga instead has PgUp/PgDn keys at those positions that are of little use to me. Is it possible to reassign those keys to back/forward keys? I know there are some tools to remap keys, but the ones I found seem only able to work with standard keys on the keyboard, not with special functions such as back/forward.

I've got a large program that I've installed on my wife's laptop, that I'd like to be available only when I log onto her computer. She currently is the only USER. I installed the program (it takes many discs to install, plus it has been customized post-installation) when logged in as her, and now I'd like to have my own account, and transfer that program to my account. I've yet to find any info online as to whether or not that is possible. If it is, please advise. Thanks!

Generally speaking, if a program is installed in one account, then in most cases it will be available in all others, including accounts created after the installation.

The one aspect of this is whether or not the installation places shortcuts into the relevant "All Users" location of the start menu. If it does not, you way have to manually create the shortcuts yourself, or copy them from your wife's account.

I want the F6 key to do something else, but it is being (at some stage) assigned to "turn off wifi".

How do I find out what program is assinging this ? I checked my startup but nothing seems to be obvious.

Answer:Win10 Desktop - F6 turns my Wifi off, - how to I reassign this key ?

Is this a laptop? If so, what is the make/model of the laptop? Generally with laptops the Fkey are predesignated and most of the time they are dual purpose key functions. Most of the time the keys are labeled as to what function they do. The vendor has a software/driver package for that and sometimes it's wrapped up/in with another driver/software package.

Here's the deal...

I bought a new hard drive that is a little bit faster and a more reliable brand than the original ... My original swap went just fine without a hitch (details on my process below), and I was running totally fine for a few days on my new hard drive.

So... now I decided I didn't need to save the data on my old drive anymore and I wanted to reformat it for use as an internal backup (it was old and slow but it still worked)... this is when things went a little wacky...

Because of my process, both HDs have nearly identical partitions including a "System Reserved" partition and a second bootable partition... but when Windows boots up with both HDs connected for some reason it is using the System Reserved partition from Disk 0 (my new HD), but assigning C: to the partition on Disk 1 (my old HD)... since this is then assigned as C:, I can't reformat it... So... How can I re-assign the C: back to the partition on Disk 0 in order to free up Disk 1 to be completely re-formatted?

In case it helps... this is a step by step of my whole process...

1. Before changing anything, I created a backup system image on an external drive
2. I removed the old HD and installed the new HD
3. I booted up using a Windows 7 repair disk
4. I restored the system image from the external drive onto my new HD
- At this point both drives were identical copies, but the old drive was physically removed.
5. I was working completely on the new drive for several days... Read more

Answer:Change boot disk / reassign C: drive?!

Thats a very common issue. The easiest way to solve this to move the boot manager to C: thereby making the System Reserved partition redundant. It can then be removed, and the free space merged into the existing C: partition.

A minority of purists consider this some form of heresay, but since you already (wisely) use system imaging, the System Reserved partition serves no useful function to you (assuming you don't use bitlocker drive encryption) so the practical solution is to remove it.

This is how you do it, but I would encourage you to post a screen capture image of your disk management screen before you proceed, so we can review it.

I just bought my daughter a used digital camera (Fuji) and after installing the software, I connected the camera to the PC.  Since it was the first time connecting it, the box popped up asking me how I wanted to open it, so I figured I'd try to see if the software for my camera (Canon) would work (it didn't).  Anyway, the problem is I accidentally clicked the "always use this option" when I connected it the first time, so now it does it automatically which means the only way to access pics from the camera now is to open it as an external drive and take them out one at a time.  Is there any way to reassign what program the camera opens with?

Greetings All,I have a brand new yoga 710 with windows 10.  I am generally impressed with it, with the exception of the poorly designed keyboard.  Defying 80+ years of standard keyboard formatting, on the 710, the 'Right Shift' key is only half-sized, and it is shared with the 'PgUp' key, conveniently placed to the right of the PgUp key.?  Every single time I am typing on this keyboard (including this post), I am moving the cursor up instead of capitalizing a letter.  I cannot even hit the Right Shift key while keeping my fingers on the home row, my pinky finger will not reach it, it is that far, and I am consistently hitting PgUp instead of Right Shift.  Suffice it to say, it is completely maddening, and I will return this if I cannot find some simple solution.  Given this design flaw, I have looked into remapping/reassigning the PgUp key to become the Right Shift key.  I have read that it is possible to remap other keys, but I have not seen anything for my specific situation.  I would imagine that there are myriad yoga 710 owners who would greatly appreciate this fix.  Thanks for all your help!!!

I always rest my thumbs below the space bar when I am typing.I now have an Acer Laptop 244 LM with a terrible habit :-When I am typing text it will randomly decide to drastically shift the insertion point of my stream of keyboard characters.It is never a graceful shift - it is always a terrible lurch to a distant region of the screen.Specifically, whilst I am typing I only see the cursor at the point where I am inserting text.If I then move the USB mouse or stroke the touch pad mouse a second cursor appears in a totally different part of the screen.  I may continue typing at the first cursor position, and the second cursor can disappear.   The second cursor position is remembered and a slight stroke causes it to reappear and start moving from the old position.Regardless of whether the second cursor is visible or not, as soon as the mouse pad sees a thumb twitch it resurrects and tells the O.S. to instantly align the text insertion point to this stupid mouse position.It is such a pain that I have to remember to disable the mouse pad with Fn-F7,but this seems to be a pure hardware I/O feature that cannot be controlled by software.I am happy to lose the entire mouse pad, and am about to instant glue a cover over it,but would prefer to use a batch file or something on start-up.I would like to try to reassign the "ACTION" key issued by the mouse pad to a harmless null action which will allow my thumbs to twitch and not disrupt my composition.I would apprec... the last driver version of realtek allowed you to reassign the funcitons of these ports to whatever you want. For example, I could change a speaker port to a microphone port if I wanted.

I can't seem to do it in this version, the option doesn't present itself. does anyone know how you can do that, or is there another way? I'd like to have two speaker ports instead of just one. i dont have front ports.

About a month ago I downloaded and installed an .iso (file not relevant) and I used MagicISO to mount the image. The problem is, I guess I mounted it to my already existing DVD drive so now my computer thinks I have a DVD already running on my computer but really it's just an image file. I have tried uninstalling the "drive" (the magicISO drive) to no avail. The device manager does not recognize my actual DVD drive however it is present in BIOS so I know it's working. Since the image is "running" (it is not, the program is removed from my computer) I cannot even eject the DVD drive and I tried manually opening the drive and inserting a DVD but this did nothing.

I have an HP Pavillion desktop running Windows 7.

Answer:How do I "reassign" DVD drive?

Hi BCarey2293 and Welcome to TSF,

Virtual drives can be tricky, in the sense that they can cause issues if the application using them is uninstalled without removing the virtual drives first. You could try the following:

1. Reinstall MagicISO, see if the virtual drive is still listed in the settings. If so, uninstall it form there.
2. Go to HP's webpage and download the Driver/Utility package for your machine. Should reinstall all your drivers including your CD/DVD-ROM.

Otherwise let us know what HP machine you're using (Modelnumber etc).

I know its probably a long shot, but i had reinstalled XP on a machine a few days ago only to realize the Operating System is now on the F: drive. Any chance i could reassign it back to C: without XP taking a dump on me.

Disk management wouldnt let me do it b/c its the system drive. I also tried changing it via acronis disk director in the DOS GUI only to have it freeze at bootup. Any ideas or should i just scratch the idea until my next wipe of the drive.

I thought windows always reassigned drive letters and always made the system partition C:.. ?

It just drives me nuts...especially when i try to connect to the machine remotely and cant remember what the system drive letter is...

Thanks for looking.

Question: How to Sum Values

I have a table that has amounts reported for different units for different years and I want to find the total reported for each year and print it out on one report, but can’t figure out how to do it. So, my question is: is there a way to get MSAccess to sum values in one field only for those records that have a specific value in a different field? For example, if you have a table that has records with the following fields and sample values:

Unit ID, Reporting Year, Amount In, Amount Out
100, 1990, 200, 150
100, 1991, 200, 150
100, 1992, 300, 250
101, 1990, 500, 450
101, 1992, 600, 550
102, 1991, 125, 100
102, 1992, 100, 100

The result that I am looking for is a summary report that shows the years across the top and the amount labels down the side and the summations in the report like this:

1990 1991 1992

Amount In 700 325 1000
Amount Out 600 250 900

Can this be done with Access?

I am having a problem with a form not posting the values from my dropdowns to the confirmation page. There are many dropdowns on the page, but to keep the code as small as possible I will post a small portion that gives an example of how I am doing it.

The larger problem is that the form is suppose to pass the values in the form to the confirmation page (and thus to the DB). Everything goes through without error messages, but the UCode values do not show up in the DB - everything else does. That's why I decided to check to see if their values were getting to the confirmation page. The response.write says there is no value present.

I did the following Response.Write to check for the value on confirmation page:

<%
Response.Write "The value in UCodes1 is: " & request.form("UCodes1")
Response.End
%>

No value is returned, only the text. On the form some of the values are passed to the db from the confirmation page, just not any of the UCode values.

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.

3. Get HijackThis Analyzer and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in y if you agree. The result.txt file will open up in Notepad. Question: MTU VALUES

Maximum Transfer Unit size on the Internet.Microsoft detail the MTU size in a knowledge article click here;en-us;283165MS says the DEFAULT is 1480 bytes, packets above this size will be fragmented. Apparently AOL is considerably lower.However the Protocol adds 28 bytes to this figure and I'm unsure if this is (i)included in the 1480 bytes or is (ii)in addition to the 1480 bytes. I read an article published elsewhere that say it's in addition, but logic tells me it should be included in the 1480 bytes otherwise the packet size will be exceeded.Using ping ip address> -f -l 1492 is OK but with 1493 it says it has to be defragmented. So I can either use 1492+28=1520 or 1492-28=1464. Let's assume that you are talking about Excel.You can only have 7 or less nested IFs in Excel. If you need more choices then you need to write a VBA macro (see this article) or else use the LOOKUP function in conjunction with a Table.If you are not talking about Excel then it would help to specify the program you are using.

Question: Registry Values

I recently un-installed several Dell crapware applications from my computer. Also I installed Acrobat Reader 8, then un-installed Acrobat Reader 7. I decided to un-install Acrobat Reader 8 and re-install AR 7. I used CCleaner, RegCleaner and EasyClean Reg Cleaner to remove leftover traces after each un-install. Things seem to have gone smoothly enough, but then I did a HJT scan.The HJT scan included: R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =; and R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing. I check those boxs, clicked FIX and rebooted.I did another HJT scan an discovered that the RO and R3 were still present. Actually I repeated the process several times. In the registry, I located the KEY with the R3 ... - Default URLSearchHook is missing, but received the error message ... Cannot open URLSearchHooks: Error while opening key. Do I have problems? I don't know. Question: 0457 VALUES in c++

in c++ i take variable

Code:

int i=457;
cout<<i; //prints 457
[code]
if i use
[code]
int i=0457;
cout<<i; //prints 303
[code]
what is the reason.

Answer:0457 VALUES in c++

Ok, what C++ thinks you are doing is it thinks that you are entering a Octagonal value of 0457 (or 303 in oct). So, what you do is change the base of cout. Look at this code example:

Code:

#include <iostream>
#include <iomanip>
using namespace std;
void main()
{
int y = 457;
int x = 0457;

cout << setbase(10) << y << endl;
cout << setbase(8) << x << endl;

return;
}

What setbadse(int) does is it changes the type of integer output that cout displays. There are three integers that can be entered into the setbase() function: 8=Octagonal, 10=Decimal, and 16=Hexadecimal. By changing the base, you change the type of output.

I have been programming in vb 6 for some time now. I am working on a fairly large program for work. For no given reason the values that show up when debugging quit showing up. I can't find a way to turn these back on. These are almost necessary to debug correctly.

By debug values... i'll explain,,, if you set a break in a program on any given line and run the program when it hits the break the program will return to the code. if you hold your cursor over any previous variable it would show something like a tool tip such as... hat = true ... this is what will not show up anymore

Hiya,

I'm trying to send some window messages from user input.
For example: BM_CLICK

Now I know BM_CLICK is defined, but I can't figure a way
to use the input string "BM_CLICK" and get it's defined
value (or any other #define) without using something
like if(lstrcmpi, Arg, "BM_CLICK" == 0) and manually
assigning the value, or hardcoding BM_CLICK in
SendMessage.

Any ideas on how to convert a "BM_CLICK" string to a
BM_CLICK message without using IF?

Thanks, Mac

Answer:C/C++ using #define values...

You're quite right -- you can't really use BM_CLICK or any other #define at run-time unless you refer to it directly, because a #define is just a text substitution as far as the compiler is concerned (i.e., it happens at compile time, and any knowledge about the #define is lost). I've used a table and a lookup function to map the input text ("BM_CLICK") to the corresponding value; it's not particularly elegant, but it solves the problem.

Hope this helps.

If a PSU is plugged in the outlet and the green/black wires shorted to turn it on (no connectors to the MB or anything) are the values:
12.9, 3.8, 5.9 still too high?

When connected to the motherboard the bios voltage are much lower, around 12.2, 3.46, 5.1
and PCWizard 2010 gives an even lower reading - 11.93, 3.41 and 5.14

I'm too afraid to test it while connected to the motherboard (just in case I touch something I shouldn't with my meter probe and fry)

Answer:What are a PSU's normal values in the box?

In order to test a power supply correctly the psu must be connected to the motherboard and running. You are not going to fry anything. Are you using a digital multimeter?

It works in percentage tolerances.

The bare minimum is 5% and most good manufacturers go to 3%. And the really good supplies are tighter than 3%.

so for 5% they have to be between:
12v: 11.4v <--> 12.6v -- though 12.6 is not something I would want to see
5v: 4.75v <--> 5.25v
3.3v: 3.135v <--> 3.465v

And for 3% they can be between:
12v: 11.64v <--> 12.36v
5v: 4.85v <--> 5.15v
3.3v: 3.201v <--> 3.399v

* Your 3.3v is the one that stands out as pushing the tolerance levels.

Question: Core Values.

I always see people on the net metion their cores, whether it be AMD Venice, Winchester, San Diego etc. Well what does that mean exactly and how do I find out which one I have?

Answer:Core Values.

Different cores are just different 'generations' of a certain chip. For example, you could buy an AMD 64 3700 Venice core, which is fast, but not as fast as a 3700 San Diego which has a 1mb L2 cache (as opposed to the Venice's 512kb).

To find out which core you're running just look at your CPU box, or run a program such as CPU-Z.

Answer:How to fetch out different values ?

If this is one time (or not to often) task, then this procedure should work. If you will be doing this as a repetitive task, then you might want to consider using VBA (a macro).Put theses formulas in C2 and D2 and drag them down:C2: =IF(ISNA(MATCH(A2,$B$2:$B$6,0)),A2,"")D2: =IF(ISNA(MATCH(B2,$A$2:$A$6,0)),B2,"")You should get this:
A B C D
1 Col1 Col2 Result1 Result2
2 1 2
3 2 3
4 3 5 5
5 4 6 4 6
6 7 1 7
If you need to process the results further, you can select Column C:D and do a Copy...PasteSpecial...Values to remove the formulas and leave the values.Click Here Before Posting Data or VBA Code ---> How To Post Data or Code.

Hi

I am trying to make the following code dynamic to ensure that no matter how many rows there are the formula will copy down to the last row.

The following code takes the formula in J1 and copies it across to V1.

Range("J1").Select
Application.CutCopyMode = False
Selection.AutoFill Destination:=Range("J1:V1"), Type:=xlFillDefault

What I am trying to achieve is for the autofill to go down to the last row with data in column J

Range("J1:V1").Select
Range(Selection, Selection.End(xlDown)).Select
Selection.AutoFill Destination:=Range("J1:V4"), Type:=xlFillDefault

The Range (J1:V4) needs to be dynamic to account for the changing number of rows with Data in it.

i have tried loads with my basic knowledge of VBA and cant work it out

Any help much appreciated..!

Thanks

Answer:Autofill values to last row.

You want to copy J1 to J1:V1, and then J1:V1 down as far as J goes down?

For that to happen, there must be something (at least in column J of) row 2 to start with which will be overwritten in the process -- yes?

For the whole thing in one "hit":

x = Range("J1").End(xlDown).Row
Range("J1").Copy Range("J1").Resize(x, 13)

Hello,I am trying to add values related to individuals from one worksheet to another worksheet. Answer:Adding Values in Excel

Hi,If your example data is in cells A1 to B6 on worksheet "Sheet1"andthe three names/scores on "Sheet2" are in cells A1 to B3then enter this formula in cell C1 on Sheet2:=SUMIF(Sheet1!$A$1:$A$6,A1,Sheet1!$B$1:$B$6)Drag the formula down a further two rows alongside the names/scores and this is what you get: A B C
1 John 99 122
2 Mike 21 97
3 Jason 18 46
If you wanted column C to include the scores on "Sheet2" then use this in C1:=SUMIF(Sheet1!$A$1:$A$6,A1,Sheet1!$B$1:$B$6)+B1I wasn't sure from your post if there were already scores on "Sheet2" as you showed, or if you just had a list of names and wanted the totals from "Sheet1". If so the first formula works, but start with it in cell B1Regards
