Missing Message From an Application Program

Question: Missing Message From an Application Program

Here's a strange problem.

I have AAA Map 'n' Go 7.0, running with WinMe.

When I exit the program, instead of getting the message that I used to get (I believe it was, "Save Changes to startup.mn7?"), I get the following message: "_______ startup.mn7?"

How do I reset the "_______" to "Save Changes to..."?

I have already uninstalled and re-installed the program, and that didn't solve the problem.

Preferred Solution: Missing Message From an Application Program

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've run CCleaner,EasyCleaner,RegScrubXP & Advanced System Optimiser to try to remove the entries which say 'Program startup missing'. Manually removed the Registy entries (backed up first) but they keep coming back! Had previously uninstalled all of the offending programs with 'Your UnInstaller 2004' and cleared out any remnants.
Using Acronis True Image I went back several backups but (You guessed it), they're still around. Although they aren't (as yet) affecting the OS I'd like to solve the problem.
Use XP Home+SP2 with Toshiba Satellite M60. 1Gb Ram, 80Gb HD & 80Gb USB HD.

I've had an ongoing problem with application errors that say the following:

<app name.exe> - Application Error
The instruction at "0x036...." referenced memory at "0x00000ba0". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program.

I've run HJT before and others couldn't find anything. I've significantly cleaned up my PC, currently uninstalled about 4-5 different spyware/adware programs (at the instruction of a MS tech support person who's trying to help me integrate SP2 back into my c:/ with no luck ). But, someone on the XP forum suggested I run HJT again and copy the log so here it is. If anyone has any other ideas I'm open to listening. I get this error message when exiting out of almost every application or browser I have. Can't seem to figure this one out. Thanks!

Answer:Application error message every time I exit application

I don't see major here...Did you install anything before this happened? Perhaps IE 7.0?

Go to Start->Run and type in sfc /scannow and hit OK. Let it scan. If it finds any files missing/corrupted, it may ask for the Windows CD.

Download LSPFix http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/LSPFix.exe and run it. Check the box that says 'I know what I'm doing'. Click on inetcntrl.dll on the left window and then click on the arrow pointing to the right. Click Finish and follow the prompts.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following if they still exist and hit 'Fix Checked' after you checked the last one:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/cust.../www.yahoo.com

Make sure you turn off any antivirus programs you have running while performing the online scan below. Using Internet Explorer, run a virus scan at http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner Click on 'Launch Kaspersky Anti-Virus Web Scanner' and install the ActiveX component from Kaspersky. Click Yes and it will begin downloading the latest definition files. Once that's done, click on 'Scan Settings' and make sure the following are selected:

I have used "Data Execution Prevention" (DEP) listing my ACDC file viewer. I listedACDC because after it completes normally each time, there is an error message that says "Application has stopped working." I no longer want to see this error message.I use ACDC 7 for viewing and editing graphic files, here with this Windows 7 (64) system.

I usually select files with Windows Explorer, and they open using ACDC.

When I close the last file viewed, I get this error message that says "ACDSee 7.0 Application has stopped working"Installations of this ACDC on other Windows 7 computers do not have this issue. So I need to resolve it.

I updated AOE castle siege. After update iI can't find it on app list. Searching it shows no result. On windows store it shows that app is installed, on clicking view it takes me to start screen. I can't even reinstall/uninstall it as it is not on app list. Is there any other option than resetting to get app back.

Answer:I have an application missing after updating the application, how can I get it back?

During the update there was a glitch so the "store" thinks you have the app but your phone does not have it installed proper.
If you really want it you should do a factory reset or just accept that you can not play this game.

My Dell desktop Dimension E510 computer with one gig RAM and XP professional failed to start and I was eventually forced to do a repair of Windows which after several hours allowed me to restart it and it is apparently back to where it was with no need to reinstall any drivers, programs, settings, etc. During the Repair there were two places were I had to skip things that would not load. However, it now has two error messages that keep popping up and I cannot get rid of them.

The first is in a window labeled "msfeedssync.exe - Application Error". The message is "The instruction at 0x77d4bbcd referenced memory at 0x00000048 cannot be read". It pops up and says click OK to terminate program or click cancel to debug the program. Clicking either twice closes the pop-up but it returns about two minutes later. How can I get rid of thsi message.

The second problem is a window labeled "Status" which starts a ticker tape to load info and then a second window pops up that says "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD or other removeable device. Insert disk and click OK. The status file is an "Installation Package.msi file. No m,atter how much I click cancel or OK the windows will not close. I can put them in the background, but is annoying.

Any advice would be helpful. I thought of doing a complete reinstall of Windows but I believe it wipes out all my programs and I don't want that if possible. Thanks in advance for any help. This... Read more

Hello,

Yesterday evening, while administering my Minecraft server, a message saying my Adobe Calson Pro font (the first one in my Fonts folder) was corrupted appeared in the notification area. That was the first message of this type that I had ever seen. A second message appeared after a few seconds, saying another file was corrupted (I think it was a system file, but I don't remember). I ignored the messages and opened a file with Notedpad++ but it failed to launch. I decided to restart my computer but Windows 7 failed to boot with a BSOD : "STOP: C0000135 The program can't start because %hs is missing. Try resintalling the program". Before searching this issue on Google, I ran a CHKDSK which completed whitout erros. Then I foud these two topics which present a similar issue : http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic444580.html and http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic455797.html. I followed the procedure mentioned in the first topic and got the following log :

Hi, I'm new here and excited to see if I can receive any help.

So my friends computer was working just fine until last night. We moved the computer and then got the error log every time we start it up. From what I've been reading our problem could be exactly this guys problem

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic444580.html

We've done the regedit method to see if anything was wrong or different, but nothing was. So I can assume it's that consrv.dll file thing that's the issue. from what I've read in that post, we need a log thing, so I've already gone ahead and used the repair program and got the dds log

Hello and Welcome to Bleeping Computer!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your malware problems. I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.

Hello,

I work as a computer technician at a small private college on the Eastern shore of Maryland. I am mainly a Macintosh technician but I am trying to boost my skills with Windows more. With all that said, I had a student drop off a computer to our help desk running Windows 7 with the error of "STOP: C0000135 The program can't start because %hs is missing. Try resintalling the program". I initially removed the hard drive and connected to one of our other Windows machines and scanned it externally using MalwareBytes and MSE. There were a number of infected items that both programs removed. I then reinstalled the hard drive and got the stop error again. After some Googling and seeing recommendations about AVG I check the Program Files via Command Prompt in the Recovery Console and AVG is not present.

I have used my box of tricks and need more help. If someone could help that would be great.

Matt

Good Afternoon,

I have another student computer displaying the above stop code. The computer had been booting fine until the last restart I did now it will not boot to the desktop just to the blue screen with the above stop code. It had been infected by a virus that displayed multiple fake systems messages but I thought I had got rid of everything by using MalwareBytes and Microsoft Security Essentials. This student had been running without virus protection for who knows how long.

FRST log is attached

Hello diintzke,

Welcome to the forum.

Please copy and paste the logs instead of attaching it unless otherwise requested.

You have a dual boot system and FRST has scanned the Windows XP. Are you technical enough to remove the HD with Windows XP and run the FRST again or we should use another method to scan the system and recover it?

Hello,

One of the computers in my office came up with this error when turned on this morning:

STOP: C0000135 The program can?t start because %hs is missing. Try resintalling the program

It took me a while to get to the error, because, as the computer's running Win 7 Pro, it was skipping the BSOD, and going straight to startup repair; when that didn't work, I then disabled the automatic restart option, and then found this error, which I've never seen before. I did do some googling, and found several references to this being either virus or corrupt registry entries, but I wanted to check in here first before I started doing anything to the computer.

Could somebody please steer me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance,

--Jon

Hi, I am running Windows 7 x64 on an ASUS g73 laptop and recently got hit with this error. The computer would startup only to hit this blue screen and restart. It would also not boot in any of the safe modes. I have read that it probably has to do with a malware infected .dll file but have no idea how I would go about fixing it.

Here is the log I got from frst, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hey,

I'm having a bizarre problem with Vista Home 32 bit which suddenly appeared overnight. I put my notebook to sleep the day before, and when I powered it back on this morning, it was on the black & white boot up menu saying the notebook and crashed and had to restart.

I opted to boot windows normally but it kept restarting. Same problem with safe mode.

I tried to repair the installation with the installation disc but that didn't work.

Got to System Restore, tried to restore a previous point, but that failed.

I rebooted again, and miraculously it booted up to the desktop. But I've noticed a few major problems:

1. The program folder in the start menu is empty

2. The system tray has missing icons, most notably network connections

3. A few directories in C:\ are missing . Am sure I didn't delete them.

4. Many applications like MS Office or Adobe Acrobat are missing / have broken links and therefore do not work.

I have 2 user accounts on the notebook and both have similar problems.

When I boot up in Safe Mode, the program folder has a few applications listed, but the other problems remain.

System Restore doesn't work. It returns an error message saying a file's missing or something like that.

I feel something's corrupted but I don't even know how to begin searching for a solution to the problem since the symptoms are all over the place!

Would appreciate any help!

Hello. I have been trying how to figure this out for hours and have tried so many things and can't get booted in to windows. I keep getting that BSOD error every time I reboot the computer. So, I saw this web site as I scoured the internet and thought I'd see if you could help me out. I am running Windows 7 x64 and I did have a virus on the computer and used a program called Hitman Pro to remove it and it said it did, but I reboot and I get that BSOD error. Thank you.

Hi,

Tried to boot my computer this morning and was greeted with "C0000135 The program can't start because %hs is missing. Try resintalling the program" message. I've been scouring the web in search of a solution but can't find anything helpful apart from other similar threads on here. I've scanned with frst64.exe and got the log. I'm hoping someone can help me solve this as I have a lot of college work saved that would like to have a copy of. If I can't fix this I guess I could try boot Linux off of a USB to try rescue some files. Thanks for any help.

Hi all,

I tried to kill the Trojan virus with the anti-virus software by Tencent yesterday, but I fail to log in my Windows 7 (64bit) after restart even in safe mode. I never used AVG and searched solution from internet to change "consrv" to "winsrv" in the registry, but this does not work.

That why I seek help here and I have scaned my log with "FRST64.exe" as below. Could someone help to provide the solution to fix the error. Thanks for your great help in advance.

I don't know the difference between an Application and a Program. Thought the Geektionary would help, but didn't find anything there.

I have 2 Dell Windows XP computers.

If I want to copy something such as Microsoft Money from one pc and install it on the other, what exactly do I need to copy? The application or the program?

And where do I find what I need to copy? :confused

Any help in this area is so appreciated.

Thanks.

Answer:Application vs. Program

Well basically an Application is an executable file such as Notepad.exe whereas a program can contain more than one application along with numerous other files such as DLL files.

Since the days when Windows had a registry it is far more difficult just to copy a program as it often has numerous entries in the registry which will point to locations of files within the program - this is why prgrams these days are generally installed. Only if the program contains a small number of files or is a self contained executable (such as Notepad which is both a program and an application rolleyes) can a program be copied.

Hope that's all clear. :confusedrolleyes

Click on OK to terminate program

How can I remove this and/or stop it appearing?

Answer:Application Error Message

It could mean that a program tried to access an area in memory that another running program already occupied. It also can mean that you have an area of memory going bad. Download Memtest86+ - a free memory diagnostic - and test your memory. If memtest shows bad memory, you will need to replace the faulty stick.

What are you using for adware/spyware/virus protection? You can also test your RAM with free software at www.memtest86.comCheck each stick at a time, let it run for an hour or so, then then test the next (if more than one), then test all RAM together.

I've started getting error message boxes showing up at various times on my system (as shown in attached .png file). The date and size of the OLEAUT32.dll in my Windows/system32/ directory is 14 April 2008, 539KB.

The latest program I have installed an update for is MailWasher Pro (from v6.3 to v6.51) but I have no idea whether it relates to this in any way.

Please can anyone help to pin down the source of my error and what I need to do to overcome it. Thank you,

Bob

Hi all, after doing some googling i realised this error message seems to be some sort of malware as the message content is the same, its the directory mentioned in the message that is different.

i noticed the mis-spelling in the word incompatibility and the first thing that came to my mind is its some sort of malware. it seems to me it has sort of attached itself to nvidia components. Any help regarding this? Also, what information do i provide so as to facilitate the help process?

Answer:Unsupported 16-bit application message

See http://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/2rfefq/oawrapperexe_and_ontologydll_error_whenever_i/ .  Spelling errors are common in documentation, IME, and this appears to be a valid nVidia file/reference.

Also could you provide us with what OS you are currently using (Windows XP, Vista, 7 etc)

Anyone using this HOT rated download, and will it have a direct or indirect benefit regarding popup or popunder ads? The screen shot looks pretty impressive. I'm already employing CCleaner for the drive.

Answer:CleanCache application/program

This is more of a question for the Software Forum.

Using this or CCleaner is not necesarily going to stop popups? It is not a popup stopper? It's a drive cleaner which will remove some items that could possibly be related to some problems you are having.

When I look into Task Manager it is listed under processes, but not applications.

Please help.

What is the worst legit program/application you've ever used in Windows? Exclude mention of antivirus and anti malware because there's already a popular thread about it on MT.

To moderators, please move this thread if I've posted it in the wrong place.

Answer:Worst program/application you've ever used

Backup software, it made me loose all backups, twice. First one "only" corrupted all files.

But the worst was the one from Google. I removed online files and upon sync, it removed local files. I had to redo everything.

I have sworn never to use any automatic backup software ever again, manual backups for me, only copy/paste locally or online.

I'm trying to execute an application (simulator) using a system call from my program. Once the application (simulator) starts, I want my program to perform certain tasks on the GUI of the simulator: fill in certain fields, start the simulation, collect the results, and close the application. In essence, I need to emulate the keyboard stokes on the GUI of the simulator using my C program. I must interface to the GUI since I only have the executable available to me. Can any one recommend a way to perform this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:How to interface an application's GUI with a C program

Ive never done it, but I'd recommend looking into sockets, you can send data between a host program and server program and such.

Hello can anyone please tell is there any back up software that can back up a particular application for me? For example, if there is any update for a software and i want to back up the software before updating it, is there any way to do so? I know i can back up the whole computer using Norton Ghost but what if i just want to back up a particular software?

Answer:Backup program for a particular application

Not generally doable. When programs are installed, they make changes in the registry of the computer and in various parts of the Windows operating system. Simply finding a program that will copy over the files, will not copy the registry changes or any other changes..it simply copies files. That is why people who try this run into problems. To date I know of no program that copies applications into a useful format to save. There are migration programs and imaging software etc, but nothing for single applications to my knowledge.

Hi

You most likely have malware on your PC judging by those file names, so running the below and attaching the logs requesed will be a start, then if the files are still their further removal instructions will be posted to aid you in removing any malware files including those two mentioned.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:

Hi! I have about 30 computers in one vlan (have multiple vlan's) which has a problem where applications (exe, dll and other files) has started disappearing. Have scanned with AVG, Trend micro Office scan, McAfee checked for malware, trojans etc, yet didn't find anything. Have also submitted logs to Antivirus Software company Support yet they ruled out machines NOT to be infected from any known threat.

I cant do system restore as when going to that I see empty. This problem is only in one vlan. The only way to resolve this is fresh install but after sometime applications again disappear. Event log shows application hangs and later exe missing, dlls missing. I did install other tracking software to detect what was actually happening but when applications start disappearing this software also disappears.

My users do not have admin rights to uninstall application further users have their archives and personal documents gone. Another thing to note is all computers don't have the problem in same vlan. Computers affected are those where we don't have permanent users.

When I start up the message there is an error message on the screen which says "there in an error in your installation. Please reinstall you application" What application and how do I do this?

Answer:What application do I reinstall after error message?

It's referring to one of the applications or utilities which start automatically with Windows. Some detective work is required to reveal what it is.Disable your startup items one at a time & restart Windows after each one has been disabled in turn. When Windows restarts without the error, the last item you disabled is the culprit.Don't forget - only disable one item at a time and restart Windows each time. If the error still appears, re-enable the last item you disabled, then disable the next item.Ccleaner is one of the best utilities for enabling & disabling individual Startup items: http://www.filehippo.com/download_c...message edited by phil22

I'm having an issue with my Windows XP 64-bit OS, but it won't allow me to load any cleaning software now. I did have some malware/spyware issues but according to SAS, MBAM, and Spybot they are all cleaned now. I tried to load the new version of Avast, AVG, CCleaner, etc. and it tries to save as a binary file (only option). Then when I go to run the .exe I get the message "*.exe is not a valid win32 application". All of the tools I'm trying to run are designed to work with Windows XP 64-bit so something tells me there is something else going on here. So does anyone have any other ideas? When I do try to scan the downloads with Avast the process begins, but nothing happens. Could there be something deeper in my system that is preventing me from doing this? Right now I'm running the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool from my account. BTW I did run SAS, MBAM and Spybot from Safe Mode as well so I think I've got a pretty good clean.  I was wondering if you could help me out. I used arcsoft total media 3.5 with XP with little problem. I now have an acer aspire with wndows 7. I keep getting the error message ?device is not available or is in use by another application?. I disabled all services & enabled them one by one to find that the ?power? service is the problem. If it is disabled then the video flows great but the computer sound is off so I have no audio (nor internet). I can not seem to turn on audio without the ?power? in system configuration enabled but then I have no cable. Is there a way to do that? Or what if I partition the hard drive (something I?ve never tried) & install another XP or linux will that free up the driver? No one seems to have an answer.

Hi there,

Upon rebooting my computer, these pop-up notifications constantly keep coming up.
How do I stop these error messages from populating?

NotifyAlert.exe - Application Error: "The application failed to initialize properly (Oxc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application"

Rng.exe - Application Error: "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click OK to terminate the application"

I have a Dell desktop computer (Windows XP operating system) and I'm guessing this problem stems from a "Dell Support" program issue.

Please advise if more info is needed in order to come to a better diagnosis.

Thanks for your help!

Answer:"rng.exe and notifyalert application" error message

Yes, both files are part of your Dell Support installation.

Easiest fix is to uninstall Dell Support.

You can re-install it from the Dell support website, but according to what I've read, this only results in the two errors coming back.

About a week ago I tried to install Firefox but got cold feet when it seemed to want to become the default for evrything.
Uninstalled it but it has left a problem in that clicking on internet desktop shortcuts always produces an error message 'Windows cannot find file ...address of shortcut.....Make sure you typed it correctly...etc' BUT then immediately the webpage opens.
Have traced the fault via Windows Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, File Types...scroll down to URL Hypertext Transfer Protocol....highlight this then click Advanced...under Actions highlight Open & then click Edit. Under 'Application used to perform action' is C:\Progra~1\yahoo!\browser\ybrowser.exe....Under Use DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange) is DDE Message.......THIS IS THE DATA I REQUIRE....mine reads "%1",,0,0,,,, but I believe this is the message for Firefox which appeared in the Application underneath
I have changed the Application now to Yahoo in the registry but the the DDE Message remains the same because it too has to be changed in the registry hence my request.
Hope someone can assist otherwise must go to Restore

Answer:Please find me the DDE message for Yahoo as the Application

After quite a bit of delving about the simple solution to the problem is to uncheck the use of DDE for both file types URL Hypertext Transfer Protocol & URL Hypertext Transfer Protocol with Privacy. I can only assume that Firefox must use use a different route to open the shortcuts which is not put back to normal when Firefox is uninstalled
Anyway folks my desktop shortcuts now all open without a pesky error message

I am having the same problem as the person in this thread: http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php?topic=95177.0I have tried opening MalwareBytes AND SUPERAntiSpyware, but as soon as the program pops up it abruptly closes and a little error-message bubble pops up from my toolbar saying the above title, effectively making it nearly impossible to scan for anything. I know I have several viruses thanks to a free scan (including a trojan or too and many, MANY cookie trackers as well as spyware), but the full program (Antivir, I think it's called) that would remove the viruses is way out of my budget. Also, a while back my computer's hard drive disc began squealing so I sent it into HP (the maker of my computer) for repairs. When it returned it began over-heating very rapidly and then shutting down without warning. After this, another virus infected my computer when my mother opened up an infected e-mail on my computer. My computer-savvy friend fixed it as much as he could, but the virus still deleted my Task Manager somehow. Is there anyway to correct these problems?Haelp? D:Thanks for your time!

Hello,

We're in desperate need of help.

When we switch on the computer, we get the motherboard screen & then the screen goes completely blank. Then appears a log on application error message, number 0xc0000103, which says 'The application failed to initialize properly. Click ok to terminate the application'. We click ok, the error message disappears, but the screen stays blank. And that's it basically. We have not been able to use the computer for weeks.

At least if we could get the start screen up we could take it from there, but with a blank screen we have no options. Microsoft cannot help & we have been told by the manufacturers that the only way to get round the problem is to completely reinstall, which would mean losing everything we have put on the computer.

Has anyone got any ideas, so that we can avoid having to take this drastic course of action.
Thanks very much
Gaysy

Answer:Log on/off application error message no: 0xc0000103

I went to Tech Net

http://search.technet.microsoft.com/search/Default.aspx?brand=technet&query=windows%20nt%20accounts

and looked up your error code:

Error Code: 0xC0000103
Error Translation: BERR_ACCNT_WIN_INIT_ERROR
Problem: Unable to create Windows NT accounts because Windows reports error %1.

I then looked up Windows NT and it brought up many entries to do with user accounts.
So, it looks like your system can't create your user account. If it can't do that, then you can't log on, and you can't get to your desktop to do anything. Have a look at Tech Net and see what you think, but I suspect there is no quick fix, hence the manufacturere's recommendation (someone leap in here and correct me if I'm wrong).

Do you have backups of your files on disk? Other than that, someone else may be able to help you with file recovery from your hard drive.

Good luck

Hi,

I received the following errors just when I clicked on the color foreground to change it.

Unhandled exception code = 101, what = internal program error; an invalid parameter has been passed to a function. Click OK.

Then another box popped up with:

Application Error instruction at "0x0000008". The memory could not be read. Click OK to terminate program.

Paintshop Pro X was working fine last night. In fact, I can do other things, but it won't let me change the foreground color.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Gail

I have the following svchost.exe Application Error showing on my screen:
The instruction at "0x7564d383" referenced memory at "0x00000060". The memory could not be "read".

I have seen this same problem posted on several sites, but no solutions. I am unable to connect to the Internet with that particular computer, so I am unable to go to Malware sites for downloads and such.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Know that I am somewhat limited in my understanding of OS's and such.

Thanks.

Answer:svchost.exe Application Error message

Could be malware. Lets try somethings first. Have your xp disk handy. Click start, run, type cmd. At the command prompt type sfc /scannow (notice the space between c and /, also notice the 2 n's. If it ask for the disk put it in.

I have recently started receiving an OXC0000017 application failed to initialize properly message. Since this is started, my computer gets knocked off line, but according to the ISP, I am still connected. I have had the ISP out to my home 2x to look at the modem. No modem problems.

This all started right after I tried to load a game for my son at the Disney website. I uninstalled the game, after I couldn't figure out how to help him play it, but my machine has been acting goofy since then.

The only way to re-establish a net connection is to completely restart my system. I've never had a problem prior to this.

I have a Gateway laptop with DSL service from RR. I have IE 6.0 and XP. I don't keep a ton of junk on our machine and prior to this problem it screamed through the net.

Please any advice or assistance would be GREATLY appreciated.

Kim

Answer:OXC0000017 Application Error Message - Help Please

Is that the error message in full?

This is NOT an upgrade from an earler OS?

You do not have Aventail Connect, do you?
Download CCleaner, be careful NOT to install the Yahoo Toolbar, just un-tick the box for it ... CCleaner can clear the crap left behind after a bad uninstall.

let me know.

Answer:Application Initialize failour message

Hi yasirazizbhatti and welcome to TSF !

Do you have any other problems with the computer ? If what you get is a blue error screen then please browse to c:\windows\minidump, zip the .dmp files you'll find there and attach the .zip file to your next post using the manage attachments button. Next time you see such an error give us the complete error message : the name of the file involved and the arguments after the 0xC5 error code.

When did your issues start ? Had you installed anything new ?

Start by uninstalling and reinstalling the failing application and see how it goes.

I'll remove your e-mail address so you don't get spam. We prefer to keep the answers on the forum anyway.
