Preferred Solution: Webcam not detected

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I was mortified when I recieved this message on a laptop that was barely used but was now over one year old. Troubleshooting steps on Lenovo's site ended up referring to repair shop.   I watched a few video's on how to service the LED LCD display and looked over the service manual to find a solution.  Disclaimer Note: I take zero responsibility if you do this and fail or damage something. My unit was out of warranty and I have a lot of experience inside these things. So what works for me, may not work for you. 1. Completely shutdown the computer.  The machine must be totally shutdown and not in a sleep mode.2. Unplug AC/DC power adapter3. Removing the bezel around the LCD display was easy.    -be very gentle prying this off with your finger tips from the inside lip and don't put any pressure on the LCD screen. Any pressure on the LCD screen especially the bottom edge can cause damage.    -start at the top center of the bezel and work down each side and do the corners and bottom last.4. Re-seating the tiny cable connected to the webcam was not so easy; but, I did it with a plastic prybar, bright light, and magnifying glass.    -if not carefull here you could easily do some damage.5. Loosen up the slack on the cable by re-routing it a bit.6. Carefully snap the bezel back on. (It turned out that the cable does not stay connected because of to much tension on the cable. Basically the cable is a bit to... Read more

I've just started using a new Y70 Touch with Windows 8.1. It doesn't detect the integrated webcam. It's not on the list of devices. It doesn't activate when I press FN + ESC. I installed the Bison driver from the Lenovo support site, but nothing changed. Skype can't detect it. I've googled it but none of the proposed solutions have worked for me.

Answer:Y70 webcam not detected

Hi Tilde8, Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with camera on your Lenovo Y70.

Have you check if the driver is installed properly from device manager, if installed check if it is enabled from setting.
Press Windows + C to enter the charms bar and go to PC setting select privacy and go to Web-camera option and check if it switches ON.

Check with this option and let us know the findings. Hope this helps.

I have followed all instructions online to try and resolve the issue but it is still not showing up. I have an Acer Aspire 6930 laptop that came with an integrated Acer Crystal Eye Webcam. I had to reformat once and ever since, my webcam and mic no longer function. I have re-downloaded the driver and software for the webcam and it still says "Camera no found" (yes, it says NO found lol) when i click it. Any suggestions? It's not an old laptop so it can't have "burnt out" already. Is there any way to check the actual camera and repair it? I don't have the money to replace it

I have had this HP Notebook 2000 for a few years now. When I first got it, I think I had Windows 8 and was able to use the webcam and take photos on it just fine.Since that time I have upgraded to Windows 10. I don't use my webcam often so am not sure when this happened, but I have just recently noticed that my webcam no longer works. There was no driver installed at all.So I downloaded CyberLink YouCam, version 5 since that is the only free one I could find available. When I open the app, I get a message that says webcam is not detected. I am unable to click on the settings within the app to configure my webcam. What should I do?

I have an hp pavilion that I had gotten a few months back and the webcam has been working fine up until recently. I went to go and turn it on and it comes back with a webcam not detected error message. I went and tried to update the driver. Uninstall and reinstalled and I keep getting the same message. I uninstalled all messengers or anything that could be using it too and still nothing. I ran a system restore also but that still did not work, i am very quickly running out of ideas.

Answer:Webcam not detected

If something else was using the webcam you wouldn't get the "not detected" error, so uninstalling messenger software etc. was never going to fix it. Did you check in Device Manager to see if there is an entry for the webcam? Even with no driver present, it would still be listed there under "Imaging Devices" as an unknown device with a yellow question mark.

If it's not listed there at all, with or without a driver installed, then it means the webcam itself is faulty/broken.

After searching through the help files, both here and on microsoft, my computer still refuses to recognize the built-in webcam.  Uninstalling drivers, uninstalling software, using the recovery manager, downloading drivers from HP, from Cyberlink, going through countless updates and reboots....nothing has helped.  Nothing has happened physically to the computer, it gets treated like a desktop, not a laptop and so it doesn't even move from it's spot.  I don't think I've used the webcam ever before.  I attempted to use it so that my mother could see her new granddaughter, and I've run into this issue.  I've spent two days trying to fix it with no luck.  Could someone please help me?  Thank you.

I got the Envy 14 late January and I've loved it thus far. However, I went to use Skype a few days ago, and my webcam would not work. Instead, the HP MediaSmart software popped up, and even when I closed that Skype wouldn't work. Opening up just MediaSmart Webcam gives me the error message, "No webcam detected. Try plugging in a webcam into your computer now. If you are using and integrated webcam, try turning it on." My webcam is integrated, and I have the sneaking suspicion that it got uninstalled somehow. Now the red light wont even come on no matter how hard I try.I uninstalled and reinstalled Skype,I have searched the net for it's software, but have had no luck. I reinstalled the MediaSmart Webcam software off of both Recovery and the HP website,I also found my laptop and looked at all of the drivers but could not find one listed for my webcam.I went to Device Manager, (there is no Imaging Devices section), looked under the Sound, Video, Game controllers and found Webcam Splitter (with a speaker icon next to it though), updated those driversI clicked Detect Hardware Changes everywhere in Device Manager... And still no luck. I really don't want to do a system restore because I'm not sure what I would lose, or if it would even work. And please no factory restore!!! From prior knowledge I think I have the HP TrueVision HD Webcam. Thank you in advance.

Check Device Manager to see if the cam is listed. If not, it's likely a hardware fault and the cam isn't being detected like the error reports.

Hi Everyone -

So I've tried using my built-in webcam the last few nights, as I recently have had to do online conference calls for work. The webcam was working just fine a few months ago the last time I used Skype, and this was the first attempted use since then. We use Adobe Connect, and when I tried to start my camera, it said no camera was detected. I started my YouCam software that came on the computer and it also said there was no camera detected.

I was going to post a screenshot of Device Manager, but the forum won't let me. So - under Imaging Devices, there is no webcam, just my printer. Under 'Sound, Video, and Game Controllers' there's the following: Conexand SmartAudio HD, Cyberlink WebCam Virtual Driver, and Intel® Display Audio.

The CyberLink Webcam Virtual Driver is purported to be up-to-date.
The lenovo website had a page for this problem, and said that if the camera didn't show up under Imaging Devices, I needed to contact a support center. But I'm not under warranty anymore and I don't want to have to pay them to fix something that shouldn't have broken.

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad U310 running Windows 7.

If anyone could help me resolve this, I'd be really grateful. I know I could probably just go buy an external webcam, but it rankles to go buy something that supposedly came with my laptop.

Thanks!

Answer:Built-in Webcam Not Detected

I just got my computer back from the shop to fix a few problems [which they didn't], and now I found a problem I never had before: my Yahoo! Messenger cannot detect my built in webcam. I'm not sure how this happened, it's worked like a charm for years now, and now I can't use it. I was told to go to Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Device Manager -> Imaging Devices, but my camera never showed up, the only program that shows up is WSD Scan Device. I tried to do the "set up voice and video" in Yahoo, but it only detected my microphone and speakers, not my camera. I think my software is called Cyberlink YouCam, but I can't even do anything with it now because my camera cannot be detected.

I'm using a 64-bit Windows Vista, HP Pavilion dv5. someone help please? I don't understand how something can't be detected when it's built in to the computer

Answer:Built in Webcam not detected

ok so code 43 is always generated when there is a hardware or software issue( which you have already try to install) usually by doing a cold shutdown of your computer or taking the battery out for some few seconds does correct it but if all that is not fixing it try disabling the device in control panel or you can roll back to the previous driver and allow windows to scan for hardware changes.one question did you do any changes to the computer before this started happening?

Good Day:

My laptop is a HP2000-210 notebook. I run a LinuxMint 17.1 cinnamon/Rebecca 64bit O.S. I have "cheese" & VLC available for webcam operation. However, I cannot get either to correctly active/operate the integrated webcam. I will try to provide as much detail as I can, then I have a few questions and demands. Every once-in-a-while the webcam will operate through "cheese"; albeit for only 7 seconds to about 2-2 1/2 minutes. Then it shuts down and error reports "No Device Found" or "Error Playing Video". In VLC, it's error reports "VLC is unable to open the MRL 'v4l2://'. Check the log for details." I've even tried guvcview and it's error report is "check for correct drivers". I've been to/on just about every Linux/Ubuntu forum I can find. I've been to/on HP~Linux forum. Have multiple postings at those forums dealing with this issue and as yet, all efforts have been futile. I getting the impression I have 'driver" issues, but I cannot ascertain what drivers I need from Linux; nor why they are not in the kernel?!!
#1. We know the webcam is operable(works), so we can rule out hardware. #2. I'm completely baffled as to how it will operate so intermittently. #3 How I get a different error report from each software app ( I.e. VLC~cheese~guvcview).

Not to say that this is the Wrong place to put it, it is definitely a Laptop/Mobile computing issue, but not everyone knows Linux systems, I myself am not a Linux user and don't fully understand how to use it, so I will suggest posting the exact same stuff (Just copy the info and make a new thread) and post here:
http://www.techspot.com/community/forums/the-alternative-os.16/

For the Title, just add "Linux" at the end or something so that users can identify quickly and not have to read through the full post Best of luck with your issue, wish I could help more.

I open YouCam on my Ideapad Z570 and it tells me no webcam detected (See attachement for full description)

Answer:Z570 webcam not detected

hi Dennisaxfr,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Can you try to:
1. Go to http://www.testwebcam.com/ and let the website access the webcam. If the webcam doesn't light up is getting detected > if it works, try to perform a clean boot and relaunch the YouCam software.
2. If same problem, press WinKey+R > type devmgmt.msc
3. On the Device Manager, look for Imaging Devices

If you don't see any Imaging Devices, the webcam is probably faulty. You can opt to contact lenovo for service or use a USB camera for the meantime.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

I'm running Windows 7 on a Toshiba and recently encountered a problem. When I answer a skype call, I can see and hear my friend. But my friend was unable to hear or see me. I have checked the skype settings and Control Panel. Apparently the two built in mic and camera were not detected at all.
I've attached the diagnostic file which I observed was requested for in other threads.

Please help, much appreciated.
Regards!

Answer:Not detected - Microphone and Webcam

I've never used Skype, but it sounds to me like the problem is with your friend, not you. Have your friend check his/her settings & make sure your friend has the most current version of Skype.

I have a Y510p, about three of four months old, running Windows 7. Today I went to make a Skype call, and found that Skype didn't detect a webcam. I'd made a call about 6 hours prior to that, and the webcam had worked perfectly. I've had this issue in the past, once before, so I rebooted the computer, checked it on YawCam, Skype and a website using Chrome. Still nothing. I downloaded the drivers from Lenovo for the camera, installed all of them, and rebooted. Still nothing. In device manager, I checked to see if it was present under Imaging Devices. It wasn't. However there is an "Unknown Device" listed in Device Manager? This might be it? Anyway, re-reinstalled the drivers, rebooted, and still nothing. I'm now waiting for an Ubuntu iso to download, and I'm going to boot a live cd, and see if Ubuntu detects it. If it doesn't, I'd assume hardware failure? If it does, I may have to reinstall Windows. Does anyone have any idea what could be up, and why it would fail within just a few hours? Previously when I'd had the issue, all I had to do was reinstall the drivers, reboot, and it worked.

Answer:HP 430 laptop webcam not detected

By default, Device Manager shows a device if it's connected and powered on.
> None of those hardware IDs are your web cam
> Look through Dev Manager under imaging device, USB devices and see if any "Other" device entries. Anything look like your cam? Any line item with a yellow icon (Other then the Ethernet and Network controller devices)

If not, then check if any way to power/on off the cam. Any on/off functions or switches on your laptop for the cam. If not, the cam must have failed. Unfortunately, I see alot of that problem on this forum

Did you ensure the driver was the 64-bit version?

If it definitely was the correct driver, it's possible the actaul webcam has failed. A driver won't install if the related device has failed to the point where the system (and therefore the driver) can no longer detect it.

I used a web app that used the webcam. It worked fine until about the third time I used it. Now the webcam seems disconnected. All programs tell me there's no webcam installed. It even disappeared from the device manager. I have three seperate A720s and all have the same problem, all only after a few reloads of the web app. How can I get the webcam working again?  I've found the driver download page  but the only cam related driver is "lenovo Cam V93 for Windows 8.1". But I have Win7.

Answer:A720 webcam not detected

hi trick,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Can you try the following:
 - Follow this guide on how to show hidden devices on the device manager. When done, look under Device Manager > Imaging Devices and check if you can see the camera.
- Link to picture
 - If you now see the Camera under Imaging Devices but is grayed out, try to right click on it > choose uninstall > delete the device driver then reboot the system. After the reboot, install this driver:

Lenovo USB2.0 UVC Camera Driver  21.5 MB

 - If there's no Imaging Devices entry but you see an Unknown Device, follow this guide on how to identify it.
 - Link to picture

Let me know how it goes.

I looked through the trend and another similar one before asking. I don't want to be an inconvenience but the things I tried through this trend and the other one did little to help. Perhaps I'm not doing it right?

My built-in camera for my laptop suddenly stopped working some time back. I found out when I was using this one website to take pictures like I always do and it told me camera not detected. It told me on Skype as well. I ran problem devices and it only detected printer problems; it does not detect problems with my cam.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit.
6.1.7601 Service Pack 1, Build 7601
System Model AO756

If I go to: Device Manager and under Images the options to pick are - Xerox Phaser 3635MFP WIA, and Xerox WorkCentre/Pro WIA scanner. I don't think those are camera options.

I am at my wits end and have been trying to fix it for two months. Thank you beforehand for taking your time to read.

Answer:Built in Webcam - Not Detected or Not Working

If there is a warning or error in Device Manager that may be the web cam and it may just need a driver.

Else there is a small chance it somehow got disabled in the BIOS (Setup), so check in there.

Most likely the web cam died.

My cousin used an external Webcam on my LG laptop and now its not detecting the built-in webcam. it says "no webcam detected" when I open youcam and Skype. I tried disabling and enabling it again but its not working. I would be very greatful if someone can help me with this problem because I often use Skype for job conferences. thank you!

Answer:LG Notebook Built In webcam Not Detected

i would remove the external webcam from the device manager if it shows up there then try re enabling the onboard one and see what happens. If that does nothing; i would uninstall the onboard one completely; reboot; then let windows hopefully redetect the built in webcam. Try that and see what happens.

Hi,

I have upgraded to Windows 10 and for the most part all other apps and devices etc seem to be working. However, I use a Logitech C920 HR webcam to do live streaming and other than obs only working in 32 bit it will not recognise my webcam.

I'm having the same issue with the Logitech software its self also. I uninstalled it and re-installed the most up to date software from the website and also made sure all the drivers were up to date. I have tried to research it thinking it may be down to the windows 8 style compatibility issued.

I have tried other USB slots and between 2.0 and 3.0 and it does not make a difference.

I upgraded my laptop too and the webcam seems fine on that with the new software. Just my desktop. Also tried a 3rd party installer from researching solutions which also did not work

Any suggestions or anyone know a fix to this ?

Thanks

bjacks9,
I would think that unless the camera hardware has failed Windows update has installed an incompatible driver. I would start by following instructions here;

Hi everyone,

about 2 weeks ago I bought the Satellite L-50-B-212 with integrated webcam. The webcam worked fine until recently. Now, the webcam doesn't appear in the control panel anymore.

I have tried to add the webcam as a device, which didn't work.

In addition, I have restored the computer to the earliest possible state, but it didn't help either. It's not possible to choose earlier restore points.

What do I need to do to make the laptop detect the webcam again?

Thank you!
Carrie

Answer:Satellite L-50-B-212 webcam not detected anymore

Hello Carrie

As far as I know it is not possible to ?force? your notebook to detect webcam. When notebook detects webcam original Microsoft driver will be installed and device ?ready for usage?.

Is some unknown device listed in device manager?
Is there some entry under ?Imaging device??
Have you tried to perform full shutdown and notebook restart?

Please check also BIOS settings. On some models webcam can be enabled/disabled in BIOS. If such option is available you can find it under advanced BIOS options.

I've been working on this webcam issue of mine for about the past five hours now. I've literally gone through, deleted off Lifeframe, Virtual Camera, Smart Logon, downloaded the drivers and keep getting an error "USB2.0 UVC VGA/1.3m/2.0M WebCam" every time I try running any of the drivers for it. I'm frustrated because I just installed a new one thinking my old one was perhaps defective. I've checked BIOS and haven't seen anything in reference to webcam, there's no imaging devices section in my Device Manager and I'm just completely confused as to what the heck is wrong.

If I can put any more information to be more assisting in my issue I will but for now this is all I've got.

Hi in some BIOS version there is an additional option to enable the webcam.
Please check the BIOS.

If the BIOS would not provide such option? well, in such case I would assume that your webcam module is faulty.
If the webcam module would be OK, then you should see something in the device manager even if the driver/software would not be installed.

We show this model actually shipped with Linux. Unfortunately the webcam driver is not available as a separate device driver as it is built in to the OEM version of Windows 10, on models that ship with it from factory. Perhaps other users here have a suggestion you can use, to get the camera functioning.

On Skype, it would be detected for a second, then make a sound as if I am unplugging a device (e.g. disabling a driver), and reconnect. Lastly, I reinstalled CyberLink YouCam 3, and now the cam isn't detected at all. Anybody have any ideas as to what it could be?

P.S. If it's a driver issue, does anyone know where one is? I can't find one on the blasted Lenovo site anywhere!

Thanks in advance everyone!

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Y460: Webcam is not detected

Theres 2 different sites for lenovo computers. Look for the one that has the drivers for the different models of ideapad laptops. It might be listed under support drivers and downloads. The other site is for the older ibm computers and thinkpads. It might be listed under laptop integrated webcam or something close to that.Im going to guess that yours came either with windows xp or vista. i had a y530 ideapad that came with vista so there should be the correct drivers for it.

Welcome to TSG.

If you have a webcam on your computer, then it has to appear in device manager. It would be under imaging devices and would at the very least, have the word camera somewhere.

Alternatively, if the former isn't the case, then do you see any red x's or yellow !'s in device manager?

Answer:have ideapad s510p touch and cannot get my webcam to be detected?

hi heminfiver,

Welcome to the Forums.

Can you try the following:
1. Open Device Manager (press Windows key+R > type devmgmt.msc) and check if there's an Imaging Devices area that list a "Lenovo Easy Camera" or similar.
2. On the metro apps, launch Camera and observe if the camera lights up.

If there's no camera listed under Device Manager > Imaging Devices and the camera doesn't lights up, try to:
3. Boot into the BIOS (press Fn+F2 upon restart). When you're in, press Fn+F9 to reset default settings and check if there's a Webcam option in the Configuration Tab. If there's none, press F10 to save and exit BIOS and observe.

If the camera still doesn't work, I recommend you contact lenovo and report the issue.

Answer:Idea Centre B310 webcam not getting detected

I suggest you to perform below mentioned steps, they might resolve the issue.

1. Click Start ? All Programs ? Lenovo USB2.0 UVC Camera ? Amcap.
2. Choose Options ? Preview from the pop-up window to display the image in the video capture window.
Note:
If there is no image display in the AMCAP video capture window, Please confirm that preview in the options has been checked.
Most Important:
3) Confirm that Devices ? Lenovo USB2.0 UVC Camera has been checked.
If there are other devices in this option, do not check them. Only choose the ?Lenovo USB2.0 UVC Camera? device, and the window should display the camera image. An image, which is caught by Lenovo PC camera, will be displayed in the video capture window. Adjust the position and pitch angle of the camera to ensure the whole face is displayed in the video capture window.

You can also refer to the User Manual Guide of IdeaCentre B310.

So I never used my webcam after the first month or so of using my laptop, but when I took it out of the box, I knew it worked because it worked when I set up Skype. Now I'm leaving to college and went to check if my webcam worked only to find that Skype couldn't find it. I proceeded to look under Imaging Devices in Device Manager and there's nothing there. I can see the built in webcam, and it's worked at some point, so I don't understand what happened to it. I initially got my computer about 2 years ago with Windows 7 as my OS, now updated to Windows 10. Other than that, there haven't been changes major enough for me to think I broke the webcam. I would try a rollback but I have no idea when this would've happened at this point because I only remember my webcam working right when I got the computer. I've surfed through a couple forums and thought I might need "Crystal Eye Webcam" drivers, but I've found no official Acer licensed places to download that and would prefer not to get malware as a result of attempting to fix this problem. Thanks for your time and hope you can help,-Mkieler3

You know what's funny, this is my second laptop in a row from Lenovo that misses a piece of hardware. I initially bought a T440p and it came without wireless! I don't mean missing driver or anything, it was actually without a physical wireless card (although the spec on the box included it); no wireless in BIOS, device manager, etc. So I returned it and decided to get a T440s this time. Not to mention each of these orders took a whole month. The T440s has no webcam. Again, it's in the spec of what I oredered and it says so on the box. I spent hours searching for solutions, and you know how exhausting and irritating that is. Solutions I see are either enabling it in BIOS (under Security), in Lenovo Settings app (changing from private to normal), removing and updating driver, etc. But none works. There is no camera in Lenovo Settings app. There is none in BIOS. There is no Imaging Device in Device Manager. When I try to install the driver that I downloaded from the lenovo website, it says "No Target Module". So at the end I'm confident it's the hardware. What are the odds. Two brand new, crappy laptops in a row. Lost faith in Lenovo already, hence sharing this shameful story with you.

Hi, I bought this laptop from someone I know, and Windows 7 came with it. I must say I don't know much about electronics. The built-in webcam won't work, either on CyberLink YouCam or on MSN Messenger. On CyberLink Youcam, it says no webcam is detected. In the control panel it doesn't even say there's a webcam, but there's an 'unknown peripheric' though. What can I do? P.S.: Please forgive english mistakes if there's any.

I know this doesnt help, but this is my exact problem too!

Just purchased my new Pavilion dv7, and when I run the You Cam software, it tells me my HP TrueVision HD webcam is not detected. I have tried at this for several days now, at one point when I was trying to fiddle with the You Cam settings, the webcam light turned on for aprox. 2 seconds and then went dead again, since then it won't even let me into the YouCam settings.Right now I'm becoming more and more convinced that this is due to my laptop being assembled outside the US. Need a fix for this immediately.

Answer:Brand new Pavilion dv7, HP TrueVision HD webcam not detected

Hi Guys, I had the same problem with a HP Pavilion dv7-6e22b. I read about a short cable on the inside of the screen.I found the following post about how the screen is connected. this was an older model but i was curious about how to remove the lid of the machine. it contains 2 screws (which I didn't have to unscrew to acces the camera) just be causious not to break the bevel. http://www.insidemylaptop.com/remove-lcd-screen-inverter-board-hp-pavilion-dv7-notebook/ this is a older model in the new model the webcam connector is located directy under the webcam lens itself.I pressed te connector lightly. And all ofa sudden I hear a USB connecting sound. After that my device manager showed a connected "image device" and the software worked directly. I hop this will solve your problems to. I must say reading all the posts and not finding a solution in driver or software and after seeing the connector I think it's a poor deisgn effort using such short cables and tiny connectors. good luck to all !

If a pre-installed Windows 8 app was removed you can find it on the Windows Store. Use the following steps to download and install a removed app:

Hi there I have recently realised that the camera on my laptop is no longer detected at all. I have seen a few topics dotted about online and on here potentially listing having upgraded to Windows 10 as the problem. It could well be to do with that as I don't remember using it since upgrading Is there any driver that I might have missed? Nothing has been prompted by Windows itself and I can't seem to find anything on the Acer website - Just wondered if I'm looking over something simple

Answer:Aspire VN7-591G Webcam No Longer Detected

Hi IAmDrummist Check Device Manager to see if anything is missing. It may say "Unknown Device" or just have a yellow triangle by the side:  If anything does, then right click & select Update Driver Software. Check on the Acer Drivers site to make sure all drivers are downloaded/installed. You can also try performing a refresh of Windows 10 to see if that helps.

The device is not found or listed at all, the driver for the camera from acer does not work presumably because it is not a "3d camera" or whatever that driver is for (yes I tried both, they do not work), and I can't find it anywhere else. Where can I get an actual driver for this camera?

Answer:Webcam not detected on Windows 10 - VN7-791G lapto...

Hi,Go to Device manager, uninstall the camera driver under Imaging devices, reboot and let Windows install the driver, it may help or might not but worth a try.

Hi, just upgraded a client's HP Pavilion dv6701us laptop from Vista to 7 32-Bit.

Did a fresh install, activated Windows 7, Windows Update works just fine.

Installed almost every update, but I can't get the webcam to work on here.

I think I'm missing webcam driver.

Checked HP's site for the driver, only shows Cyberlink Youcam in the driver and software list.

This is the laptop

These are the drivers & software for it.

Please help.

Answer:No webcam detected on HP Pavilion dv6701us laptop

Hi 0080900, Have you had a look here Fixing Webcam After Changing the Operating System HP Pavilion dv6701us Entertainment Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)= Also have you gone to device manager and tried updating the drivers from there ? HP only offered drivers up to Vista for this PC so installing the drivers in compatibility mode is the way to go

My webcam had been working fine since I got my laptop last year and just recently stopped working about a month ago. The device manager says that it's working fine and all drivers are up to date. But whenever I open Dell Webcam Central it doesn't recognize the webcam at all and asks me to plug in a supported device. Any advice will be much appreciated, thanks in advance!

I have a Sony Vaio VPCW11S1E/T with a built in motion-eye webcam, with windows XP.

I uninstalled the arcsoft software that came with the laptop in error last week, however now my webcam cannot be detected. In device manager no image devices are listed however there is an 'unknown' under USB (usb/vid)- I have disabled and re-enabled but I still get an error message when I reboot - a USB has malfunctioned: no drivers installed. I tried to install camera drivers from the Sony website, however on trying to install a message pops up advising that 'no camera is detected' and the driver installation is cancelled.

I've also reinstalled the arcsoft software however it can't detect a camera.

System restore is not an option as I discovered it wasn't switched on so I can only restore from today. Is a restore to factory settings the only option and would it work? It seems I have uninstalled the drivers and now the camera has malfunctioned and the system doesn't recognise it so it can't connect to a new driver.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Answer:Sony Vaio - webcam not detected, not in device manager

I would try using the restore-to-factory-defaults feature.

Appears to be a netbook with no other means reverting/repairing Windows.

The driver for the internal webcam...may have been included with the software you apparently uninstalled.
