Huge problem with Sony P200 Digital camera...

Question: Huge problem with Sony P200 Digital camera...

Hello Friends!

I recently brought a Sony P200 Digital camera and since the day I brought the camera, I am facing problems with it. I have tried all modes present in the camera, but no gain. Lets talk about the auto mode.

The first problem with it is related to its LCD screen. The display on the LCD is so dark that literally nothing is visible at all. As soon as I apply some zoom, the screen gets even darker, nearly black. Now when I press the click button to focus, it is only then that some thing is visible on the screen and after focus everything gets dark again. Now thill the time I wont be able to see anything on the LCD, how am I supposed to click any pictures.

Second and even bigger problem is that whenever I click any picture, only one out of 10 come out to be normal. Rest all are either very bright or very dark. I marked this all happens because of the flash intensity. Sometime it flashes so bright that every thing is white and sometime the flash is so low that everything is black. This all happens randomly and there is just no control over the flash light in any way. This means that to take one picture, I have to click not less than ten times.

Today I took the picture of a particular thing about 75 times and believe me, it was only 2 times that I got the perfect brightness. Rest all the times it was either too bright to be white or too dark to be black. I even changed my mode from Auto to other modes but the problem persists. I also marked that this problem is not so intence when clicking pictures outdoors.

Is there anyone who knows what can be done to overcome this kind of a problem. I am simply going crazy, so please help.

Thank you.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have an older Sony digital camera and I have had no problem downloading the pictures from the camera to the PC which is 8.1. Now I have windows 10, and win 10 does not recognize my Sony camera anymore. I've heard it is a common problem, but I'd like to know what people are doing to get their pictures off their camera now?

When I plug in the camera, the pc ding a lings, but when I go to file explorer it shows everything on the pc like normal. I click on "this PC" and it shows the c drive and the DVD . No removable drive like camera. I've done a google search and it is a common problem with win 10. But what is the answer?

I have just bought the new Sony DSC T1 Camera and everything seems to be going fine, but I can't understand the manual's directions about disconnecting the camera from the computer after the files have been downloaded. Can't I just remove the camera from the cradle? I tried following the directions (p 80 of the manual)about double-clicking the icon on the task tray, selectin Sony DSC and clicking OK, but things seem to freeze at that point. There is an egg-timer in the window, but nothing happens.Eventually I turned off the power on the camera and removed it from the cradle. I would like to leave the cradle in situ and just fit in the camera when I want to download. Can I do this?

Answer:Sony Digital Camera DSC T1

If it's a USB you can just pull the plug after the light on the camera stops flashing. If you remove it while it's flashing you will not have downloade all the photo's

Hi,

I have a problem and I'm hoping someone will be able to help me out.

I'm trying to upload pictures from my camera to my computer. (The first time). I installed software named "Picture Package" and the manual says that USB driver will be installed at the same time when PP. But when I use the USB cable and connect my camera to the computer, it says "Windows was unable to locate the software for this device". Oh and I use WinME.

I tried to reinstall it a few times, but no luck. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know how to solve it?

Answer:digital camera software help(sony vio)

The camera you bought should come with a software CD, on that CD, there should be the proper software for viewing the pictures you have taken. There might also be a cable that you can use to plug the camera into the PC (likely a USB cable)

Hi,

When I checked up it seems that there isnt a japanese make for the above Series. Is this information correct , if so what's the make I should look for if im buying a DSC-W230.
Is this a good Camera for its price.

Or is there any other camera I can look for, for the same price which has better specs/features.

Thanks.....................................

Answer:SONY W230 Digital CAMERA

The Jap companies seem to have good quality control over cameras assembled elsewhere. I haven’t encountered a quality control problem associated with where the camera was assembled, and I peruse the camera boards often.

The Sony W series has been good and are usually highly rated. Steve didn’t seem too impressed with the W230 though: http://www.steves-digicams.com/camera-reviews/sony/dsc-w230/sony-dsc-w230-review-6.html

You might read through this: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/Q408budgetgroup/page15.asp Unless you plan on making large prints for the wall or doing extreme crops you can easily get by with seven or eight Mp. I would personally prefer the W120 over the W230 because of the optical viewfinder. It also seems to have good optics and performance.

If you want a sub-compact 12Mp in that price range the W230 is probably as good as most.

I have a brand new DSC-W350 cyber-shot digital still camera.I've only had it for 3mths now. Some days back,I removed the battery from the charger as usual and fixed it into the camera but the LCD screen just showed uniform whiteness when I put the camera on.At first I tot it was the brithness control of the LCD which I adjusted to the minimum, but the problem persisted. I have switched off the camera, removed the battery and have also done some trouble shooting but all to no avail. When the camera is powered on,all you see is uniform brightness, though you can make out faint images when focused on an object.I took some snap shot and imported them into my computer only to realise that the shot appeared okay when downloaded, the only problem been I didn't get a good shot since I couldn't make out from the LCD what I was snapping.I have gone through the entire manual and still could not find a solution to this. The trouble shooting steps on the manual rather instucted I looked for troublshooting icons on the LCD,but non was present. It's like there is no icon on the LCD suggesting a fault yet the LCD is uniformly very bright. Can you guys help out or is this really a major issue.

Many thanks guys.

Answer:sony cybershot digital camera

Is it possible you cracked the LCD screen? It might look all white if cracked in the right place. Well, if it's not cracked, it still sounds broken, and Sony will fix it under warranty, although I bet you have to shop it there yourself.. Give their repair center a call.

Here is my problem: The tape will not insert into the camera. When the tape cavity is empty, the cavity closes and the camera is ready to operate (except for the message that there is no tape). When a tape is inserted into the cavity, however, the cavity remains stuck open and no further operation of the camera can be performed. HELP PLEASE. No matter what we do, we cannot get the tape to go into the camera. We have taken the battery out of the camera and reinserted it; we have tried a number of different tapes and different batteries and used ac instead of a battery. Nothing will load the tape. We have tons of tapes of our darling boy that we have been transferring to DVD, and if I can't play the tape, we won't be able to view them, let alone transfer them. Please don't tell me to take it to a Sony repair center. I have had enough trouble with this camera and Sony's service to last a lifetime. By the way, this camera is a replacement from Sony for the original "lemon" that we first purchased. Both were brand new when recieved. The model is a DCR-TRV120. Thank you for any help! P.S. The error code is C:31:40

My son recently bought a Sony DSC P 10 digital camera. It operates properly but he cannot get the software to load onto his computer in order to view etc the images. His OS is Windows XP Home Edition.Partway through installation of the software he received a message to install winaspi (whatever that is) and then reboot. He did this to be told it had not initialised and to try again. He rebooted again and this time the image icons appeared on screen. He then plugged in the digital camera via USB and was told it had found the new software. The Found New Software Wizard appeared but it said it could not find software on the computer for Sony DSC. He tried another USB with the same result, but this time a note appeared saying the problem occurred during hardware installation, hardware may not work properly. We later installed the same software onto my computer which has OS Windows Me and it installed and operated properly with the camera via USB.Can anyone suggest what the hardware problem might be, if indeed it is the hardware, and any suggestions for overcoming it. I hope I have explained it coherently enough to make some sort of sense. He has contacted the camera store but they are not helpful, blaming his computer.

Answer:Sony digital camera - software will not install

hi, i think that you dont need to install hardware, i may be wrong but when you plug the camera in via usb, xp should recognise it and load what it needs, then a window will appear like it would with a cd offering 'what would you like to do' simply click on the digital pictures wizard and wollah! away you go. failing that you may need to visit the sony website to download any software relating to xp. good luck!

For Christmas we purchased a Mavica FD75 that was accompanied by Photosuite software. We are operating an HP with Windows 98/SE along with Internet Explorer/Outlook Express.

The question I have is when I insert the floppy disc into the computer to download the photos - how can I simply e-mail them to our friends (e-mail size instead of gigantic size) instead of inserting them individually into my e-mail message? It is time-consuming inserting each one individually.

Also how can I edit out red eyes in Photosuite?

I recently had my Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W30 6.0 MP camera dropped and broken... I just purchased a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W100 8.1 MP camera on ebay, which includes battery, battery charger, 1GB memory card, memory adaptor and 12 in 1 USB 2.0 memory card reader - but NO USB cable.

Could I use my old USB cable to download my pictures from my new camera or are the models too different? If I can't, I was told that this memory card reader works for downloading pictures but I have no clue what this is or how to use it. Could someone let me know as well?

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Sony digital camera USB cord question

Yes you can use the old USB cable, as long as you have the small USB connection on your camera ....

The memory card reader is just a slot on the front of the computer,as a rule, and you can remove the memory card from the camera and plug it into this slot, provided its a "newish" computer you should have this slot ...its quicker than using USB too ....

I recently received a SONY DSC-N2 Digital camera which I used to record a video image of my son's wedding vows. It turned out GREAT, but it's also too large to Upload to his Picasa Web site. The Picasa limit is 100 MB, and my file is about 160 MB.

Does anyone know of any Freeware that will allow me to split the .mpg file into two smaller files, each of which will still maintain the video and audio of the original recording ?

if anyone who has this same problem and a solution could help me, it would be much appreciated.
I've had the laptop for 8 months and haven't really used the web cam until recently. The problem now is, it was working fine until I was in the middle of a video call and the camera screen went all green.

Where there was distortion in the picture and green lines covering the picture.
I have tried re-installing the web-cam drivers but not have been effective.
If someone could help me that would be much appreciated.

Answer:Problem with Integrated Camera on Satellite P200-1BK

Are you using the Vista OS?
If yes please check if all Vista updates are installed. I mean especially the Vista SP1.

I see you have updated the webcam software but please do this again after Vista update.
Please don?t forget to clean the OS after old webcam software was removed using software for example like CCLeaner.

I don?t know what program have you used for video conference but it would be also advisable to check if there are some updates because this issue could be also related to this program too.

Does it have a removable card? Maybe try putting that in a card reader to pull them off instead through the camera. Last time I used a Kodak one it required the software to pull them off the camera. You might also want to try and reinstall that software.

Everything Was Working Well Before.
Just One Day,the Camera Started Delaying Before Getting Ready To Snap A Picture
Now The Camera Does Not Regonise/access The Memory Card
Somebody Pls Help Me On Wat To Do To Resolve This Problem

Answer:DIGITAL CAMERA problem

Hi Ogbodu
It could be a problem with the memory card. It could be either FULL of pictures and no space for anymore... Or the memory card is faulty.

If you do not already have one, buy a card reader for you computer. Insert the card and used File Explorer to see if it is full. If File Explorer does not recognise the card, then you may need a new card.

You can try another card in the camera and see if that sort out the problem.

Alternatively, take the camera into any reputable camera shop and the assistant should be able it check it for you free of charge.

I have a Gateway DC-T50 camera. I have had this camera for over a year. I have never had a problem with it before. Now I plug it into my computer and it says "USB device not recognized" I am running XP so there should be no need for extra drivers. (Also I have never had to have them before.)

On the camera itself I can see all of the pictures on my memory card. Unfortunately I have some incredible family pictures on my camera that I seriously do not want to lose. I have tried hooking the camera up to my laptop running xp with the same results. My laptop is a fresh install of XP and I have tried resetting the camera's default settings. I have not tried reformatting the memory card itself as I not sure what I would lose even with a program I have that finds deleted material which has not been over written.

What would you suggest I try to fix the problem while saving the pictures? All solutions accepted. Money is not an issue for solutions that require such.

Thanks.

Hello...I am trying to help a friend who has a problem connecting her Kodak DX3500 digital camera to her Windows ME machine. She had had the computer reformatted and she reinstalled the original software that came with the camera. However, the computer does not recognize the camera...I assume it's a driver problem because the camera is recognized by my XP system and works just fine.  I also tried using another camera imaging program, Cam2PC, with no luck on her PC, worked fine with XP, which really makes me think it's a driver problem. I download a driver from the Kodak support site, K35v0101.fw but Windows is looking for a file with an .inf extension. Also, the list of cameras on ME does not include the DX3500, and the hardware installation program looks for dll files for the one I am forced to select because the one I am installing is not listed, even though I'm providing the driver (for the DX3500). I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Kodak software to see if it was a bad install, but it will not uninstall. I tried a couple of freeware uninstallers I found on the web, but they still go through the windows reinstaller, using a different interface, and I still cannot remove the program.  I checked the for IRQ conflicts, and verified that the USB ports are working through Device Manager. Does anyone have any ideas, or suggestions where I can find an .inf driver? Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

Answer:Problem with digital camera and ME

Meredith:Many Windows ME systems shipped with an earlier (and slower) version of USB (i.e., Universal Serial Bus 1.1).  The digital camera may require Hi-Speed USB (USB 2.0).  Check the documentation that came with the camera to see if it is USB 1.1 compatible.Doc

I have a Sony DSC H3 camera and the flash has stopped working. The flap pops up when I take a shot and have flash on or flash auto enabled and it shows on the display but it doesn't actually flash. I'm not sure if this is something I can fix or if it will have to go back to Sony.

Answer:Sony camera problem

If new or fully charged batteries don't fix it ..
I'm not sure there's much you can do other than call Sony .. Is it sill in warranty ??
If not .. it might be cheaper to get a new H10 .. but I think it's almost time for new models to come out.
the last time the new models came out .. The specs improved and the price dropped.

Not sure here to post this but I will try here first. If there is a better place let me know.
I have an older Sony digital camera and I have had no problem downloading the pictures from the camera to the PC. Now I have windows 10, and win 10 does not recognize my Sony camera anymore. I've heard it is a common problem, but I'd like to know what people are doing to get their pictures off their camera now?

Been trying to get my computer detect the digital camera. but it won;t, say it's a problem with the usb port or something and now it won't do anything at all. When i take the wire in and out of the computer it still dose not detect it but the computer goes off then on again like its faulty. It happens when i put anything else in there like the web cam even that works but the computer just goes off and on if i do this often. It's annoying me now and i can't get the digital camera to work. Would be great if anyone knows what i can do? I got someone to look at it but he said he could find no problem, but he didn't look inside the computer.

Answer:usb port/digital camera problem

Dose anyone know why it does this and how can i get the computer to detect the camera?

I have an Olympus C-120 digital camera. I have uploaded photos to the computer a few times with no problems, but it currently won't work. The computer keeps telling me that it can't find the camera.

I checked the reference manual which says to look in My Computer to see if there is a removable disc icon. There isn't. It then says to check My Computer, Control Panel, Systems, Device Manager to see if the camera is listed under the USB, it is.

When I open the camedia master software it just keeps telling me that it can't find an Olympus camera. I changed the batteries and it isn't that.

ANy help would be appreciated.

Answer:[SOLVED] Digital Camera Problem

Hi Purple _imp.

Firstly are there any yellow exclamation marks in device manager.
Another probability is the operating system , I got the following from an olympus c120 manual, which I suppose u must be having ,

"Even if your computer has a USB port, you will not be able to transfer data correctly if you are using one of the following systems: or if you have an add-on usb connector(extension card etc)
Windows 98/98se upgraded from Windows 95
Windows 95
Windows NT 4.0

* Among Windows XP systems, only Windows XP Home Edition and Professional are supported.
* Among Windows 2000 systems, only Windows 2000 Professional is supported.
* For current operating system compatibility,

Another option is the usb driver that is bundled in the cd that too could help.

Recheck your connectors they should be plugged in fine and if possible reinstall the camedia software

Until yesterday, when I placed my Hewlett Packard Photosmart 850 digital camera into it's USB dock connected to my WinXP Home machine, it would be detected and picture download would start automatically. However, I had to re-install the Hewlett-Packard photo software package and now when I place my camera in the dock, I'm presented with an error message that reads "Cannot install this hardware. An error occurred during installation of the device. The required section was not found in the INF." This is very disturbing because the camera was working normally 2 days ago. I checked the HP web site for guidance...nothing. I made no changes to my computer or the camera...just re-installed the HP photo software package. Can anyone provide guidance? I have no problem modifying system files or the registry. I've been researching this problem on the net and have found it to not be uncommon, with the typical answer being "...reinstall the software". That hasn't worked for me, however. I've uninstalled every USB device in Device Manager and re-booted. All the devices are re-installed, but I cannot get the camera to install. The problem exists on both USB ports. It seems to very camera-specific.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I have a Dell 4100 o/s windows XP laptop & a Dell desktop with XP. The laptop doesn't show this manufacturer (Argus) it had been installed on the desktop. Then one day I tried to download adobe reader & the system went down.

The camera is compatible but I can't recall how I installed it before. The drivers & unzipped files are all in the same folder. The device manager is something I'm not familiar with but I'm ready to learn. There is no cd, I downloaded the drivers from the website.

The installation wizard keeps making me backtrack because the Argus name is not listed.

Answer:Problem installing digital camera

your windows setup files should be on the hard drive, normally c:\windows\options\cabs for oem installations, when asked for the cd point it to this location for the windows files,(win98 or millenium only), not 100% about this but look at control panel, internet options, advanced for java settings.

we have a Panasonic digital camera, works a treat, until we try to download pics onto computer. Load the software (Joe even tried through internet) but it can't find com. port or some such thingy. Any ideas? Can camera shops print pics straight or do they need to go through computer too?

Answer:a friend has a problem with her digital camera

Most cameras are connected by the use of a usb cable. The cable is connected to the back of the computer and the other end to the camera. The camera is then switched on and should be detected as a removable drive. Check your manual for the correct way to download pictures. You could of course use a card reader where you remove the card from the camera and insert it into the card reader and download from there.Camera shops can print photos straight from the card in your camera.

After a successful virus cleanup effort that cured the google redirect issue, I now have problems uploading photos from my Sony DSC-p8 camera.

In the past I only had to plug the camera into an empty USB port and a popup apeared asking my desired action. One click and the upload started with options to select the photos to upload. Nice simple system.

Now when I plug in the camera to the USB port nothing usually happens. Sometimes a popup says "new hardware detected" and identifies the camera. But offers nothing as potential actions.

Some times the "old" popup shows and when I select upload pictures (para-phased) nothing apparently happens. It used to show all pics on the camera and allow me to check the ones I wanted to upload.

A check of "my computer" shows a Sony memory stick as Drive I. By right clicking the drive and clicking "get pictures" nothing apparently happens but if I select an included folder under sony camera, all pics from the camera are there!!!

I have downloaded and installed the latest driver from the Sony site for this camera.

Very strange behavior. Is this the correct forum for this issue? Any help possible??

Hello,

Here are my Recommendations:

1) Maybe you just need to reset it the way it was b4 using the "Option or Preference" link or tab in the software.

2) You downloaded and installed the latest driver, but I would recommend to uninstall and then reinstall it the whole software first.

Windows 2000 is unable to recognize digital camera with or without installing driver. I tried installing it from device manager and control panel but comes up with the following error message

"Dual Mode Digital camera

The software for this device is now installed, but may not work correctly.

This device is not working properly because windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)"

I also tried to fix the problem by reinstalling windows that, too failed to resolve. The first time I plugged the camera to my pc usb it worked but after reinstalling windows it does'nt work.

Answer:Muse Digital Camera setup problem

On my camera and I think others too it says to first plug in the camera and turn the camera on.
Then install the software. If you install the software first it may not load the right drivers.

So if your reinstalled windows it may not be seeing the camera right because it is not using the right drivers. So install the camera software again.

after choosing try again the file is imported no problem , however if im importing say 50 pics i have to do this every 2 or 3 pics , which can be an enormous pain in the rear

anyone had/solved a similar issue?

the file are not corrupted btw they are fine and its not the camera

Answer:problem importing pics from digital camera

Hi there
are you importing the pics directly from the camera or by using a card reader.
In theory there shouldn't be any difference when using Windows explorer - but using the cameras own software can sometimes cause problems on W7 unless the software has been specifically updated for W7 -- and digital camera makers are fairly slow in updating their drivers.

I've found the best method is to let windows treat the digital camera as an "external hard drive" and copy the pics on a USB2 port via Windows explorer.

Cheers
jimbo

Hello all,

First, I found your site via "Darkside RG".

I hope someone can help.

My ipod (new classic 80gb) shows up in windows but not in itunes. I can get it to show in itunes by going to "control panel" then "administrative tools" then "computer management" then "device manager" my ipod shows up but without a drive letter, I allocate it a letter and hey presto it shows in itunes. I thought it was my ipod (I may still have problem with it) but i've just connected my digital camera (Samsung digimax a 503) and it shows in windows but it is not detected by either of my photo editing programs (adobe & picasa).

Both of my devices (ipod & camera) have connected ok until recently.

My os is XP with sp2.

I've been reading a couple of other posts could I have a drive letter problem? If so how do I fix?

Many thanks for any help,

Answer:sony pictire package camera problem

If he's running xp, tell him not to bother loading the software, it's just not needed to get the piccy's off the camera, should this be the case.

I have recently downloaded photos from a holiday. Each day's photos are placed in a separate folder by the camera. Photos taken in portrait mode when viewed in Windows Photo viewer are in landscape mode and cannot be re-orientated to portrait as the rotation arrows are greyed out. How can I rotate these?
Apologies if this is not the right place to air this problem.
