Problem Putting Camcorder in Night Mode

Question: Problem Putting Camcorder in Night Mode

For Christmas my parents bought me a Canon Zr 60 Digital Camcorder. In the manual it tells me all about how my camcorder has night mode, but it doesn't tell me how to set it up. Any help on how to set it up would be greatly appreciated.

Preferred Solution: Problem Putting Camcorder in Night Mode

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Problem Putting Camcorder in Night Mode

Page 44 of the online manual tells how to use menu and settings dial and in that section once you learn the menu and settings dial you will find the night mode setting some where in there. I think you just need to see what the different settings are when you turn that dial to find it.

Hello I was using the night mode option available on Lenovo Settings, which then had a option to turn it on or off. After Windows 10 updated, Windows now has a night mode option, but the Lenovo Settings one is still working and I can't deactivate it because there is no longer a option. At night, the screen become so red all the black parts on the screen look like blood.  Removing Lenovo Settings solve this, but I need the configurations available on Lenovo Settings, so I can't uninstall it.  Is there a way to deactivate the Lenovo Settings night mode after this update, knowing there is no longer the toggle option in the interface? A configuration file or registry I should remove or a command I should use? Thank you.

I am trying to put camcorder movie to dvd which will play on any standard dvd player. Can this be done with XP Media Player or with this will it only be able to be played back with Media Player on a computer. If not what softwear is needed and what type of discs are best. Complete beginner as you can see with the questions so thanks for any info

Answer:Help needed putting camcorder movie to dvd

Windows media player can do a lot of things, but burning movies isn't one of them. You need some kind of authoring software, preferably, for a beginner, an all in one solution, i.e. capture, edit, burn. I like Sonic MyDVD as it's very easy to use for beginners and isn't prone to crashing unlike some other programs.Have a read through this click here

Question: Excel Night Mode

I use excel in a vehicle at night...is there any type of night mode built into excel so it is easier on my eyes? Something better than just dimming the screen?

Answer:Excel Night Mode

You can create an image in paint with a subdued backgrouns like gray andsave it. Open Excel and go to the page layout and select background. Set the image you created as the background and save it as a template. Any time you want to use it call up th etemplate. Not sure about how this will work when printing however.

Hello,After last Lenovo Settings update, I have two of them (https://gyazo.com/6cf55ae2218bc9d9175014d01db3e392), and only one shortcut works. Also I have disabled Night Mode in Lenovo Settings, because I am using f.lux, but it looks like they are not working together well. Sometimes my screen blinks (lighter for 1-2 sec and back to f.lux dimmed). It is randomly but every 5-10 minutes. I disabled f.lux for now and I am testing, I'll update this post after tests. Do you know what's happening and how to fix this? Thanks in advance

Trying to put my parents' PC into Standby mode but the only thing that was closing down was the monitor. What am I doing wrong? Is it okay to leave the PC on Standby all day and then turn off the PC at night?Could someone please tell me the difference between Standby and Hibernate - in very simple terms - and how do you set it up to Hibernaye?

Answer:Putting PC Into Standby Mode

Standby continues to supply power to RAM and certain other system components with the aim of keeping your Windows session in memory. It powers up quickly.Hibernation saves the contents of RAM to a portion of the HDD with some appended data, then shuts down everything completely. To all intents and purposes, it is the same as a shutdown, bar the fact that Windows cannot perform the tasks that it normally performs at shutdown. It boots up quite quickly.

I updated to W10 and have had no problems and this one really isn't a big deal but it's got my OCD going.
I have sleep set after 25 minutes and that seems to work fine. It comes out of sleep pretty well too. But, it seems that ovenight, the system shuts down on it's own.
I've looked at the logs and scheduler and it seems that the UpdateOrchestrator was set at 3:30 am so I changed that time to 6:30 PM and the system turned off overnight again.
So, I left it awake one night and it did not shut off. Tried again the next night and it turned off. I'm going to try to remove the schedule entirely but from what I've read over the last few weeks, it will create a new task again.

I've got no idea what UpdateOrchestrator really does despite all my googling and don't have this problem on any other PC so I'm wondering if it has to do with hardware. WhoCrashed does not report any crashes at all. Nor do the logs tell me anything.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

Answer:System turns off at night while in sleep mode

In the advance power options, expand the sleep entry, then expand hibernate, the default is 180 min, you can change it.

I followed every steps online, "setting-display-night light mode"..but I reached to the "customize your display" instead of "display", and there's no such a thing called "night light"(pic shown as below). I would appreciate if you can help me with this problem, bring me back to the normal display setting to get my favourite night light turned on. Thank you!

EDIT: I just noticed that it's a laptop. I don't think the laptop displays can't do night light.

Hello EveryonePlease help me with this beacause it is really disturbing.I used to have a "night mode" which when you switch on it was blocking blue lights and screen would have yellow light instead which helps you to fal asleep at night, in other words does not keep you awake. This mode was actvated through Lenovo settings. But after some update (!) when I click on Lenovo settings it says " Lenovo settings is now actually Lenovo companion" and it launches Lenovo Companion. And of course there, I cannot see the night mode and there is no way for me to enable the mode. Please help me, that was a really useful function that I used every single night... I have a JVC GR-AXM710U VHS-C compact camcorder. When I put the camcorder in playback mode, then push play, the camcorder shuts off. This happens when I am using the AC adapter, so it's not a dead battery. Anyone know how to fix this problem? Hopefully it's not one of those "too expensive of a repair to be worth fixing" problems. Thanks for any help!

I recently purchased a Sony Bravia XBR55X900E tv and I connect my pc to it via HDMI.  Here's is my setup:

Dell XPS 8700 connects to HDMI 2 on Sony TV.
My TV receiver connects to HDMI 1 on Sony TV.
My Sony AVR connects to HDMI 3 on Sony TV, strictly for audio purposes (ARC).
Logitech Harmony one universal remote.

My issue is this:  Whenever I switch between activites (example PC to watching TV), after the TV switches to HDMI 1 from HDMI 2, this puts my Dell into sleep / standby mode.  If I press the power button, it lights up like normal.  If I go back to the PC activity, again once the TV switches from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2, the computer again goes into this "sleep" mode and I again have to press the power button to take it out of it.
All of my pc settings are set to NEVER with respect to monitor or PC going to sleep / standby mode.  Prior to this TV I had my pc connected to an older plasma TV and this never happened.
I contacted Sony to see if it something with their Bravia sync but the person said that everything looked good from the TV's end.
I'm hoping that someone has come across this and can steer me in the right direction as it is really frustrating and I don't know what else to try.

hi, i was wondering if u could help me, my lil bro's computer is hacked or something, his OS is windows xp media center edition 2005, and i read that i can completely erase his computer by restarting it in MS-DOS mode? i cannot find out where it says "restart in MS-DOS mode" option in the shut down windows dialogue box, all i really need to know is how to restart the comp in MS-DOS mode so i can erase everything, get back to me if ya can please. thank you.

Answer:i need help from somebody, regarding putting windows xp (2005) in MS-DOS mode

Windows XP doesn't use DOS.If you want a fresh start, you have two options:1. Use Windows XP CD for clean install2. Use Recovery CD to bring the computer to its original state.NOTE. In both cases, all personal data, and installed programs will be lost.

I just got a brand new laptop with Windows Hello. It's very useful for logging in, but my laptop now goes to sleep every time I leave my desk. The red light next to the infrared camera blinks often when I'm using my laptop (which is also pretty annoying), and then if I get up, even for a few minutes (to grab a snack, notebook, etc.) my laptop goes to sleep. I'm pretty computer illiterate, but I suspect that the camera is still looking for me while I'm using my computer and then decides my laptop needs to sleep when it doesn't see my face anymore. Is there any way to change this? I like not having to use a password, but the red light and going to sleep is annoying, especially since I tend to get up from my desk a lot just to stretch. It also seems like having the camera on all the time would drain the battery pretty quickly. Am I way off base here?

I received an Arris TG862 modem from Time Warner Cable quite some time ago and have generally avoided it until now. I had always assumed that the TG862 was already in bridge mode and that I was only using my NetGear R6300 router for wireless, firewall etc. Recently, I was trying to open ports through my R6300, but no matter what they would always remain closed.

Sometime later, I realized that my Arris modem was most likely to blame, so I turned off both its firewall and wireless and switched it over to bridge mode. After restarting the modem, I am unable to connect to the internet. I can still connect to both my router and my modem's login page via the cord that goes from my modem -> router -> computer, but my router is not getting anything. I tried restarting my router as well, but that does not seem to help my situation. In my router's login page, it clearly tells me that the router is receiving no internet from the modem.

For now, I've factory reset'd the modem and the internet connection is fine but I still need to put the modem in bridge mode.

Thanks!

Just bought Lenovo notebook with Windows 10 Home.

On my old VISTA laptop, when I put my computer in sleep mode and then woke it up, I could always view my connected MP3 player and its files.

When I do the same with my new notebook, I have to unplug and re-plug the usb connector in order to view the mp3 files.

I tried fixing by going into device manager, power management for the USB hubs, and unchecking the "allow this computer to turn off..." setting.

I alsodisabled this:
I appreciate help, thanks

Answer:Putting computer in sleep mode stops viewing my connected mp3 player

If you disable USB Selective Suspending and uncheck 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power', your MP3 shouldn't have any problems. Perhaps double check witch device you unchecked.

recently i costom built my computer around the time vista was released, its been working smothly on my comp untill a weeek ago it all went wrong and crashed, to be on the safe side i rebooted in safe mode, after then again reboooting it and putting all my settings back to the way they where i thought that it was all over untill recently i noticed little thigs like video's on u tube or any other site not working, aswell as sertain links on a page would not open. this personaly has confussed me! im kinda stuck on how to get it to go back to wat it used to be like before i went into safe mode, please help me!!!!!!!!!!

thanx!!!! yours greatfully Elan2jay!!

Answer:after putting vista into safe mode it will no longer opn java script or flash players

Unless you actually made some changes to the configuration, things should have returned to normal once you rebooted from Safe Mode.

Vista's "System Restore" would probably be the quickest fix for this and you will lose nothing by doing it.

However if you are using Internet Explorer, you might want to go to Tools > Add-Ons and make sure that all the Adobe Flash stuff there is present and enabled.

Also in Internet Options > Security Settings > Custom you can reset all settings there to their defaults.

Finally if you are using a 3rd party firewall -- some of these scripts can be blocked by their configurations.

Not EXACTLY every other night, but it seems that way.

This is my office machine, Dell Studio XPS 8100, purchased October 2010:

- Win7 x64 Pro
- Core i7 Quad 870 2.93 GHz
- 12 GB DDR3 SDRAM
- ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB

This is in an office with a Server 2003 machine as the domain controller, and all machines in the office log onto the domain.

Typically in the evening I log off my machine, but leave the machine running (for updates, etc). Quite a few times over the past few weeks, I come in the next day, log on, and see the message "Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown".

In the Event Viewer, it looks like it's happening as a result of something called "bugcheck" running. It happened Friday night, based on the following messages:

Event 6008 8:58:37 PM "The previous system shutdown at 8:49:11 PM on ‎12/‎17/‎2010 was unexpected."

Event 1001 8:58:39 PM "The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x000000fe (0x0000000000000005, 0xfffffa800d6501a0, 0x0000000080863b3c, 0xfffffa800de6f8a0). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 121710-21028-01."

I logged off on Friday about 5:04 PM, and I know there was a Windows Update installed just after 7 PM.

Graphics driver is up to date. Not sure about the BIOS. What could be causing this bugcheck crash?

I have been using the Blue Light Reduction feature of the Lenovo Settings app for months and it is really useful in cutting down blue light at night and it makes it easier to sleep at night after working on my computer.  Looks like there was a recent software update and I no longer see any option to enable the Blue Light Reduction feature in the Lenovo Settings utility.  Has anyone else experienced this? How can I fix this and reenable Blue Light Reduction in the Lenovo Settings app?

I have Lenovo ideapad 31015ISK. A few months ago, Night Mode stopped working, then a Lenovo update seemed to fix it. However, I now see that the Flux application is running and I don't recall installing it. In fact, I wouldn't have installed it, since Lenovo had its own night mode. Was Flux installed by Lenovo?

For the last 2 weeks or so my computer reboots during the night. I contacted Atari's customer support regarding an issue with the game Neverwinter Nights 2 and they listed this site as one of the ones to try until their customer support is relocated.  I originally tried to run this game on an AMD Sempron 2800+ with 1Gb of ram and a Radeon X700 AGP video card.  I have since upgraded to an Athlon 64 3500+, 2Gb ram, Radeon X1600 PCI-E w/512Mb ram, and Windows XP Pro 64-bit edition.  The error message I receive when trying to run the game is the same with either setup.  I installed NWN 2 immediately after installing all drivers on the new setup.  I allowed it to install the full version of DirectX 9.0c.The error message is as follows:"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and I am desperate for answers for this problem. A couple of years ago I bought a JVC GZ-MG27 Everio Hybrid Camcorder, and it has always worked fine up until a little while ago. When I first bought the camera, I had Windows XP and it worked fine, and when I got Windows Vista it worked fine as well with no problems and my computer would recognize it after plugging it in. A little while back though, when I tried to plug it in, I got the error message: "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it." I tried connecting the camcorder to my XP computer, but I get the same message!

I don't know what is going on, but it is about to drive me crazy. I looked online to see if there were any drivers for the camera that I needed, but I can't find anything. Device manager lists it as "Unknown Device"

The only other problemI've had with the camera before was this error, first it would flash "Recording Failure!" and then it would give me the message "The video management file is broken. Would you like to repair it?" naturally I picked yes, but it continued to do it. After a while oddly this error stopped, but it would come back every now and then. Now I have this problem with Windows recognizing my camcorder.

ANY help would be appreciated. Please help me end the madness! Thank you for taking time to read this.

Hi all,I've two old Computers which I just put together and ... I've some problems:I have:2x Mainboards3x CPUsdifferent EDO- and SDRAMsHarddrive, CDRom etc. are no Problem. Both mainboards are called 82430VX/P54C PCI Mainboard - 5V A0/A2/A5But they are a bit different. The one fits to my handbook (V1.0 I think) and has only Single Voltage Setting for CPU. 3.3V or 3.45V-3.6VThe other one fits (as far as I could see) to a pdf-file of a newer version of the handbook of the mainboard (When I googled for the complete mainboardname got it). This is V2.2. It has single and dual voltage setting. Single is the same as the first mainboard. Dual is for 2.5V, 2.7V-2.8V or 2.9V.And I've three CPUs:AMD-K6-233ANR - 3.20V Core / 3.3V I/OPentium i166Pentium i100 The Pentium i100 was in the first Mainboard, the Pentium233 was in the secound one. Moreover I've 1x 64 SDRAM, 1x 32 SDRAM, 2x 32 EDORAM and 1x 16 EDORAM.OK, as far as good.I want the one PC for Win98SE and the other one for Win95.I thought about 2x 32 EDORAM, P166 and the MainboardV2.2 for Win98 and 32 SDRAM, P100 and MainboardV1.0 for Win95.Problem: 32SDRAM were not acceptet (I think because of the P100)Then I thought about putting the AMD K6 on the Mainboard V2.2 and the P166 on the mainboard V1.0 because I hope the 64 SDRAM will do on the mainboardV2.2 and the 64 EDORAM on the mainboard V1.0.My problem is, the core voltage of the AMD K6 does not fit to the mainboard. I have a JVC GR-D350U mini DV camcorder and I'm trying to transfer video to my Compaq Presario SR1616NX desktop computer with Windows XP. I know it has to be through the firewire connection and I have the right cable and everything but nothing happens when I connect my camcorder to my pc. I hooked it up exactly how the directions say but it doesn't help. I tried whatever it says in the help menu of my editing software but that's no good either. (The editing software I have is Sony Vegas Movie Studio 6.0) My computer just doesn't recognize the device at all. I hope someone out there who is reading this has a solution!!!

Answer:camcorder to computer problem

Turn off both the computer and cameera. Then put the camera in the VTR mode and then turn the computer. Open Vegas and try using the capture utiliy. If that doesn't work, go to my computer and see if the computer is seeing the camera.

well i recently just bought a new camcorder, the JVC GZ-MG344 to be exact, now i can get it working with youtube and i have recorded a video and put it up private and it worked fine. However apart from youtube i also do ustream.tv, so what i did was i connected the camcorder to the pc by usb 2.0. My pc then recognized the camcorder, however when i went to use ustream, the camcorder was not recognized. I have installed all the software that came with the camcorder and still it wont recognize it.

So can you please offer me a solution if possible that would be great.

Answer:[SOLVED] Problem in using camcorder in PC

Pictures should be viewable - movies NOT - you need firewire for that afaik.

So, to be clear, is it pics or movies? Is the card fully inserted (can you preview them on the camera?).

You need a firewire card and a firewire lead. The USB streaming on Sony camcorders is not fast enough to transfer DV to a PC as its only USB 1, if you read the manual is will explain it all.

Hello;
When I try to activate the welcome screen and quick user switching, it opens me a message that tells me that there is a program that can't let me activate it... And it tells me that the responsible program is: IWPDGINA.DLL

Answer:Problem with putting welcome screen

Hello and Welcome back to TSF

At the results of a Google search, it looks like iwpdgina.dll
is a part of "Intel Pro/Wireless Network Connection" also referred to as
"PROSet."

Using features of this software, replaces msgina.dll with the iwpdgina.dll.
By replacing that file, the result is a loss of the XP style welcome
screen.

If XP's Wireless Zero Configuration covers your needs for configuring
wireless connections, may want to go ahead and uninstall the Intel
software. If uninstalling does not restore msgina.dll and the welcome
screen, you could try MVP Doug Knox's fix for this:

Right, me and my mate have just tried building a computer and its worked good so far but now were are tryin to put windows onto the computer. We are currently using the old hard drives from the other computer so we still have windows and linux on those hard drives, we understand that because weve changed quite a few hardware components so the operating systems dont load anymore even though they are still on the hard drives.

When putting the windows xp pro disc in it loads up and stuff and i boot the computer from the disc drive but once its doing the setup it seems to stop at random points in it, usually rather early. We have tried different cd's and different cd roms in that particular computer and it just wouldnt work even when changing IDE cables.

Then we tried it in this computer and it worked quickly and fine lol We took the cd drive out of this computer and then tried it on that one and it still wasnt getting very far.

Can anyone help please?

Thank you
Hope to hear from you soon xxxx

We have had this Laptop Samsung NP355V5C-A06UK for 15 months and it has been switching on at 23:49 every-night for months since we had it repaired at Samsung9 months ago. At first I tried everything I could think of by changing event times and looking at what was waking it up. I found nothing to answer my question?. Then I tried the BIOS to see if that was the problem as usual no success. The other night I switched off the WIFI to see what happens. You guessed it, it didn't come on?

So, what does this mean does someone have access to the laptop?
How did they know my IP and Mac#?
How the hell can I stop them from using it?

Thanks guys for your info...

Answer:Problem with Laptop automatically coming on every-night?

If you have it networked to your other machines it may just be something like Windows testing if offline files have changed. Or discovering what systems are on the network. Try turning on one of the Desktops "allow network activity to wake" it setting in the network card in Device Manager. See if it wakes up at the same time.

The camera shows in the devices window and also in device manager,
but I cant find how to get the recorded video onto the computer, it
happened automatically on XP and Vista, it does when I connect my
digital still camera (USB).
My camcorder connects via firewire (1394) cable through a PCI card.
Several video softwares I have don't 'see' the camcorder either.
All the drivers are upto date too.

Answer:Camcorder/Win7 Upload Problem

Have you looked in Device Manager to see if there's an error symbol against the Video Camera driver?
It may not be Windows 7 compatible. That's the first thing I would suspect if it worked okay on XP but not on Windows 7.

You may want to check the website of your video-cam manufacturer to see if they have a Windows 7 driver package for it.
If they don't you cannot use that video-cam on Windows 7 until they release a new driver. (however, some older or discontinued video-cameras will never get a Windows 7 driver, (that applies to older printers, scanners, graphics cards and soundcards as well).

Just wildly guessing or educated guessing here, but if you can hook up your camera to your PC and IF it lists in My Computer as a removable drive then its "possible" you maybe able to recover some data, try one of these

This might not be the right place to put this but it is about digital photography. My JVC camcorder has a 30G hard drive. I was uploading a video and on the camera it said that the hard drive was corrupted and needed to be fixed and asked if I wanted to do it. I clicked on Yes and then the camera went completely dead. It will not turn on at all, even plugged in so I don't think it is the battery. There is not much written about this problem. It sounds like I might lose all my info on the drive. Is sending it to the manufacturer the only answer?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but USB is not the best method of data transfer between camcorder and pc. The data transfer rate is not fast enough. Does the camcorder have a firewire connection ? If at all possible, it's best to use a firewire (1394) connection for transferring video from a camcorder to a pc.
I tried to upload video to a computer via USB when I first got a camcorder, but had the same dropped frame problem. Luckily the camcorder did have firewire, so I bought a cheap firewire card off eBay and it was fine after that.

* All the camcorders I've seen which have firewire connections use a lead with 4 pins at the camera end, and 6 pins at the computer end.
Firewire is sometimes referred to as i.Link on Sony products.

Guys since about a week or two (after the big Windows 10 update in October) I have been having an issue with my Samsung laptop where it freezes at exactly 01:07 AM every night, if I am still on my computer.
I have not installed anything new nor unusual over the past month. This issue has been frustrating me and puzzling me for the last two weeks. Finally last night I closed almost all applications and waited until 01:07 AM to take some photos from the Windows Process Messenger.
Sorry for the weird tint in my photos. That's FLUX running. I forgot to quit that before taking photos.
It turns out at exactly 01:07 AM there are hundreds of instances of "wermgr.exe" "Windows Problem Reporting" suddenly starting to run and then closing.

The CPU is showing between "100%" - "110%" utilization when this happens.
https://imgur.com/a/84qvB
Perhaps most importantly, explorer.exe seems to be the main culprit? It's showing Threads "834 running" starting at 01:07 AM.
https://imgur.com/a/ve5Tp
I don't know if it's just because of the recent Windows updates because nobody else seems to be having this issue. Also, somehow the recent Windows update seemed to have automatically automatically 'fixed' an issue that I was having before the update with font size and readability. I'm afraid of having to go back to how it was before (that may be a Samsung issue).

would appreciate a solution or diagnosis of this problem for my little nephew! He was so upset I couldn't get James Bond - Night Fire to work properly!

Anyway, we just bought a new PC, 512mb DDR, XP2600, 60gb HD and an ATI 9000. Nightfire installs ok and runs through all of the menu screens no problem. The engine however, seems to have big trouble with the Z buffer when you actually go into the FPS game itself. The background is not erased and flickers as it would if you switched the Z buffer off - it looks appalling (of course). Now, I downloaded the latest Catalyst drivers and installed them. Still no joy. Explicitly switched on 32 bit z buffer and w buffer in the DirectX settings - still no joy - made sure we have D3D 8.1b - got it no problem (running XP) still no joy. Tried the amazingly buggy Hidden and Dangerous and it didn't have this problem (not sure if it uses GL anyway, guess not).

Anyway to sum up, I have an issue with Nightfire and the ATI9000 whereby the Z buffer appears not to be operating at all, but the game doesn't complan.

Anyone offer some words of comfort to my little nephew on this one?

Thanks

Answer:James Bond Night Fire and ATI 9000 Problem...

I'm afraid there are no words of wisdom for your nephew, except that he now has the most expensive coasters around. Everyone is saying that eagames pushed this game out quickly and didn't spend any time debugging. I have been going back and forth with their support department on this issue. Lots of people are having all kinds of issues, and no two seem to be alike. I still can't get a reply as to wether they are putting out a patch or not.

Just want to make sure that putting a hard drive from a crashed computer won't cause any problems for my working system. I think the hard drive is still good but didn't want to jepordize losing another system if the hard drive could cause any problems for the good system. Thanks for your assistance.

Answer:Will putting HD from a crashed computer cause a problem in another one?

you can try it as a slave drive, but if you think something is mechanically or electrically wrong with it, I wouldn't use it in another system. If it is just corrupt data, then try it as a slave drive.

Can anyone help me please? Having problems reinstalling Windows on my laptop.

I loaned my laptop out, and got it back with real bad problems and a virus. Couldnt even read my CD drive to Repair the OS. In fact, couldn't even read my own hard drive, since Explorer was looping on and off. So I borrowed a boot disk from my brother and ran FDISK to cleanse it thoroughly then FORMAT to put the DOS 'Command.Com' back on it. So far so good..............

All I need next is to re-install my Windows 2000 thinks I. So I put the borrowed boot disk in (which contains Win 95 commands by the way) and when it loads I choose the option which asks whether I want to boot with CD support. Yes please. It loads - Plain vanilla DOS that is. I put my Win 2000 CD in the drive, type in SETUP. And nothing? The message says something like "unable to execute this file in DOS" Hmmm?

Now what? Have I missed something obvious? How do I get my squeaky clean laptop to load Windows 2000?

I did try instead to load Win 95 via the CD (since the boot disk was made from win 95) and it nearly did it. SETUP attempted to do its job but then it kind of got stuck, and refused to go any further with the message that my computer had NTFS so Win 95 couldnt load.

Also, I did see this reply to an earlier question on this forum….. “With NT based OS [win2k or xp] partitioning / formatting is done from the install CD”. This is ringing an alarm bell with me because I formatted from a borrowed fl... Read more

Welcome to the forums
What disk do you have? If it is the iridiscent microsoft windows 2000 disk, you should be able to just put it in the cdrom and reboot the computer. When it is booting up, it will tell you to push any key to boot from CD and do so. Then once you are booting from the CD, you should be able to reinstall the OS. If it doesn't boot from the CDROM, then you need to go into the bios and make the CD the first boot option so you can boot from the CD...doc

Hi, I have found a listing on e-bay and like the graphics in it, and when I paste and copy it into word, and try and paste and copy it back into an e-mail the pictures don't appear, I have also tried to past and copy it back into an e-bay listing to see if it works and again although the words all appears the picture wont, you just seem to get a "invisible" box that when you hover your mouse over it a crosshair appears?.....Can anyone let me know how to fix this problem....I have xp home....Thanks

Answer:PUTTING GRAPHICS INTO A WEB PAGE-PROBLEM

When you copy & paste into word, word need internet access to get info from the net, it could be the firewall bloacking word.I would right click on the image and save target or save picture to your computer then use it from there. In word then go insert - picture - from file ... and locate the saved image.

Not sure about the first 4 but, the Mozilla Maintenance Service, you can uninstall it completely and check for updates yourself.

Hey Everyone

I recently bought a camcorder Panasonic PV-DV53. This is a MiniDV Camera. Does a nice job for me. I'm now trying to get camcorder to work with computer and just not having to much success at it. When I bought the camcorder I was told it uses firewire technology to work with the computer.

I have Dell Dimension Pentium III 500 with windows 98 installed as OS being used.

Bought a firewire kit that came with 3 firewire ports on pci card, firewire cable, and software to capture the video.

Ok I have installed firewire card and is working and using correct driver at least by what it says in device manager. Hooked camcorder up to computer according to the instructions by the manual from camcorder. The computer shows the new hardware wizard but does not assign no driver to the camcorder to make it work. It lists the install in device manager as Unknown device I think it said. When checking the preporties of this Unknown device it says no driver installed for this device. No kind of software came with camcorder and I have checked Panasonic's website to see if they have a driver that I could download and there was no drivers for this particular model I have.

It just won't recognize the camcorder or camcorder won't work with pc. I think the hold up is having a driver to make the camcorder work. I have read online that it says camcorders don't need no specific driver. This one needs something because I can't get it to work with the compute... Read more

hi I'm looking for a replacement screen for my mini digital camcorder the camera is a aiptek mpvr 8.2mp camera the LCD screen is a 2.4 inch TFT screen. My cockerspaniel got a hold of my camera and shook it around in his mouth and fell about 3 steps down of stairs, the body is in perfect condition however though, the inside of the LCD is cracked. the light comes on inside of it but it is black in the middle..... can anyone tell me where to get a replacement screen for it ? I asked aiptek if they had 1 and they laughed at me and told me to give them 120 dollars for a older model of the camera. I told them no and slam the phone down on them..... also I rather fix my own camera rather than paying somebody 50 dollars and up to fix it.

I took my mouse apart to clean it, but the clicker buttons won't work. Dont laugh (I am though), but I am using this mouse with the cover off of it and using my fingers to click on the white "clicker" buttons just to get it to work. I tried to plug in another mouse on the front of my pc on a usb port, but naturally it's not recongized. I have read some of your older threads (2004), but I'm not too pc savy, so I am not sure what to do. When I unplug the mouse I am using (which came with my HP pavilion a6010n and plugs into the back (it's color coded) and try to plug in the older version of an HP mouse which has the end to connect to a usb port, nothing happens, so that is why I have to keep this one plugged in. It does work, but I guess when I cleaned it (and it was really filthy), and put it back together, the clickers won't connect to the little white tabs that make the clickers work. It doesn't appear that anything has been broken, but I'm not sure how to fix the problem. I had a cordless Logitech M205 (cheapie) that I was using, but when it froze pretty often, it think I beat it to death because now it won't work at all. In your older threads I read about deleting inf files that were installed on updates, but I'm not really wanting to do this since I will probably make my problem worst instead of better. Like I said, the original PS/2 mouse is working, I just messed it up or not putting it together tight enough to get th... Read more

Answer:Solved: Problem with putting PS/2 mouse back together!!

There's no reason why a USB mouse shouldn't work while a PS2 is in place. If the front USB port doesn't show your mouse, it may be a problem with that port so try one of the rear ports. Plug the USB mouse in while the system is down then power up and Windows should identify it and find a simple driver to run it.

Hi everyone,

I left my Sony Vaio VGN-NS190D on when I left a few Fridays ago, and when I returned on Monday, it had gone to sleep by itself like it normally does. However, I've recently discovered that when it goes to sleep without me pressing the "sleep" button, when it restarts again the blue screen pops up. SO FAR, it hasn't been too serious because I am able to reboot my computer from the blue screen and the system simply restarts and everything looks normal. However, this is very troubling to be (blue screens scare the bleep out of me) so I'd like to know if anyone can recommend any actions I can take to fix this issue. It's never happened before, and if I shut down my computer or press the sleep button, the screen doesn't pop up. I also get the blue screen when I just close my computer top without hitting shut down first. I've already gotten a blue screen many many times, but somehow I feel like one of these days it'll just be a fatal error and I'll have to scrap this laptop, which I don't want to do.

I also can't tell if this is a problem with my Vaio or not, but it's fairly new so I don't really think so. I'm hoping for suggestions to fix the issue so I can stop constantly worrying that someday I'll get a complete crash and won't be able to turn on my laptop at all anymore. Also an explanation of what's happening would also be great.

Thanks in advance!
