VERY Specific video conversion settings needed - Can't find an app to handle them

Question: VERY Specific video conversion settings needed - Can't find an app to handle them

Hi there,

I'm a newbie here, so thanks in advance for anyone who can help me from loosing the plot with some video conversion I need to get my head around.

Basically I have some very strict video conversion parameters to adhere to, and Quicktime Pro, and a host of other Apple Mac based converters I've tried just don't accommodate. I was hoping that someone might be able to point me in the direction of a (Ideally free, though not imperative) conversion app that does it all.

I absolutely HAVE to be able to fettle with the following for my target outputs;
Video:
File Format (Mp4 and 3gp)
Frame Size and progressive scanning
Max file size indication would be helpful so I know how big, in Mb, the target video will be
The ability to crop to any screen size
De-interlacing of target files
Codec (H264, H264HD, H264BP and MPEG-4)
Profile (Baseline, Baseline Level 3.1, Profile 0 and Simple)
Frame rate (from 15 to 30 fps)
Max Bit rate
B-Frames
Reference frame
I-frame interval
Sound:

Format (AAC and AAC-LC (48Khz))
Stereo or Mono
Bit rate (Variable or fixed, 64 to 160bps)

As I mentioned, I have found some apps that do some of the above parameters, but none that can handle it all.
Am I asking too much here? Or is there a great app (Free or Paid) that will save my sanity and allow this level of tweakage?

Many thanks for any help anyone can offer.
Regards,
Paul.

Preferred Solution: VERY Specific video conversion settings needed - Can't find an app to handle them

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: VERY Specific video conversion settings needed - Can't find an app to handle them

Best free transcoders I've used are Handbrake and VideoMonkey. Paid, would be Sorenson Squeeze and Adobe Media Converter.
Could you give us a list of what you've tried, so we don't just suggest everything you've tried and didn't like?

I just reinstalled xp on my computer, and I have the following videocard...

Nvidia Corp GeForce 6100 nForce 430

I've looked at every driver/software site I know, as well as nvidia.com. I've tried several well known auto scan softwares, as well as nvidia's forceware, which is SUPPOSED to scan my computer for known nvidia cards (which i know for a fact that i have, i've seen it myself), but it says it can't detect anything. Once again, the videocard is a geforce 6100/nforce 430.

This is the second time I've had to reinstall, and I'm having such bad luck it feels like every time I try to do something, everything is working against me. If someone out there could help me out, it would really make my week.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:I can't find a specific video card driver, where can I find it?

Is this onboard Video? A little about your computer might also help. Is it running an Nvidia chipset? Is it a name brand such as an HP or Compaq? If so manufacturer and model number would also help. I have the same Video Chip in my Compaq and the video drivers are available on the Nvidia website.

Does anyone know of a video conversion software or codec i could use so that my vista 64bit ultimate edition can view my current .wmv files in media center? i keep getting an error when trying to playback some of my current .wmv files that 'codecs are needed to play this file'. i've looked online for the proper codecs that i do need but the ones i've downloaded haven't helped. i looked back about 5 pages and the only threads i found dealing with this talked about downloading codecs for divx and avi playback, which i can understand as MC wasn't intended for avi files. i honestly don't understand the issue with wmv files, though.i've never had a problem playing wmv files in media center before. after some research, i started understanding a bit more about the difference between 32 and 64 bit, in terms of video, but some of it is still confusing. i *think* the reason they aren't playing is because, originally, on my old XP system, the videos were mostly avi format, which i then used a converter (like magic video converter) to make wmv so that i could watch them in media center. i also used video editors to cut out commercials. so i think converting them using the 32 bit software made it so that the files can only be read by 32 bit media centers. i could be totally wrong but that's my newbie guess. i can still watch them using VLC but i like the convenience of my media center and it's been a pain having entire video folders that i can no longer watch because of this issue.any... I have a Dimension 4600, a 350w PSU, 2.5 GB of DDR-SDRAM, and a PNY Verto 7600 GS 512 MB AGP (I might upgrade to an XFX Geforce 7600 GT, but I am not sure if I will get enought money for Christmas for a new 430 Antec PSU if I need one). I got the card in August 2007, and I have been playing BF2 on my Dimension 4600 since August 2005.

Recently I was playing BF2 and the graphics were and generally are set at High with a Display setting 800 x 600 at 60 Hetrz, and on one of the rounds I noticed some of the scenery was becoming blured and distinct lines weren't showing up. So I disconnected from the game and turned off then on Anitializasing to 4x which was what I was used to playing at. It told me to restart the game to apply the settings. The anitializasing settings in the game can't be applied for some reason since then. So I have been using my Nvidia control Panel to change the setting for Battlefield 2.

Salutations from sunny Greece...
Here is my problem.
Recently I have received some video files which are in the .OGM format.
I'm trying to create a dvd via nero vision with these files (I have nero 7 ultra edition) but I failed utterly because nero vision does not recognize these filetypes...
I think the only way to create a DVD that plays in my TV's DVD player is to first convert these files to .avi or divx filetype formats and then use nerovision to make them into a DVD.
I tried a number of programs but....again I failed. I'm kinda new to this video grabbing cum ripping cum making thing...most of the time, the resulting files were sth like 8GB big (from a 700mb .ogm file) and no subtitles were displayed either...
I searched a number of forums but I couldn't find anything usefull...so I request for your much needed help...
What I need is a program that can convert .ogm files to other video formats...and some instructions about how to properly do it...
Please post If you need any additional information...and please excuse my bad english..
Thank you in advance

I have been apporached by a collegue who has numerous files created on an Olivetti word processor. Unfortuantely they don't have their WP anymore. They have asked me if there is any way of retreiving these files. Luckly the files are on a floppy disk which is read by my PC.

What I am looking for is a (free if possible) program that will convert the Olivetti word processed files into a viewable source e.g txt, RTF etc.

The files created have an extension of *.IWP I have found a utility that can convert them, however it's not free. Just wondering if you lot have any ideas?

Can of 'Jolt' cola to the first positive answer back!!

Answer:File Conversion Application Needed

Hi FireKracker.
IBM says that an .IWP (wang text file used on the olivetti) can be viewed as an html file in windows.
If this is true, you only need a html enabled browser. Try viewing it in IE. If it doesn't open, change the file extension to html on one of the files and try again. You can always change it back.

I record videos using my GoPro Hero 4 camera in 4K resolution at 30fps and when I add a few videos together and edit them in Sony Movie Studio Platinum 13 and then render them in 4K my Y50-70 laptop suffers from audio and video stutter and the CPU jumps from about 64% to 100% and keeps going up and down as thre video progresses. Now I know this means that my laptop's CPU isn't powerful enough to handle 4K video but the laptop is supposed to be a 4K laptop. It has 16GB RAM, a 1TB hard drive and obviously the powerful Intel i7 processor so it should be powerful enough. The rendered 4K videos I try and play are between 1.6GB and 2.14GB and the bit rates one of which the video is stuttering is 100376kbps. I'm just wondering what I can do about this, I know in about a month's time i'm upgrading the 1TB 7200rpm standard hard drive to a Samsung Evo 850 1TB SSD drive but i'm not sure that will help this stutter problem. Any advice to stop this would be apreciated.

I have this video card:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130795

I currently have two monitors - 24" and 27" - which the card handles fine. I recently bought a new tv and would like to connect my old 42" LCD tv to this video card via HDMI (with a mini-HDMI adapter) to use as a third monitor. Will this video card be able handle the large tv and the two regular monitors? The card has a max resolution of 2560 x 1600 and the tv would be at 1920x1080. This not for gaming, it's for looking at many stock charts in a charting program.

Thanks.

Hi forum. I just bought a Yoga 13 (i7, 8 gig ram) and love it.  However, I just found out that I need to start editing some 5-10 minute videos for work.  There will be some effects and I'll probably use something like Cyberlink Ultimate Suite.  My question is this:  Can the yoga, with no dedicated graphics card, handle it?  I hope so, cause I'd love to keep it.  I like the touch screen, especially and would miss it, but it's still within the return period.  Will it be able to handle medium video work?  What can I expect working with video on a machine with no card? Thanks for any help, Abby

Answer:Love my Yoga 13, but will it handle video?

I was using mine for video editing using Adobe Premiere pro before I returned it. I only had the i5 version and had no particular problems with it. Actually editing using the touchscreen was an interesting experience as well.  I would personally pick up an external usb 3 drive to use as a scratch drive rather than trying to use the limited internal SSD to work with if videos are more than about 10 minutes long.

Im not good at computers so sorry if I miss something :/

I want to know whats the best video card my computer can handle but it shouldnt be too expensive.
Thanks.

Answer:What's the best video card my computer can handle?

Some questions first need to be answered:
What is your budget for a video card?
I'm assuming that this is a pre-manufactured computer, but what is the make and model of your computer?
Need to know the exact model of the motherboard. Ultra durable 3 motherboards covers a "family" of motherboards.
You might also want to look into adding more ram (going up to 8GB will definitely help out).
Power supply might also need to be upgraded, depending on what it has already.
Start with the questions above, and we can help find the best video card for your situation.

I just upgraded all my computers to Windows 10.

My 15 year old is clever enough to bypass the (new) Family settings controlled Microsoft Account I just set up for him by converting the account to a local account. This seems to let him play as long as he wants, without time restrictions. I didn't get an email about this, or any other notification. This is the second time he has done it.

Why is it so easy to completely bypass all the family safety settings it took me hours(!) to finally get set up?

Also the Family Recent Activity shown on my Microsoft Account web site doesn't seem to update itself. It is at least two or three days behind, perhaps more. How often does Recent Activity update? Is it supposed to be near instantaneous?

Answer:Bypass Family Settings by conversion to Local Account

What you describe should be impossible. To test this I just now created a child account on my PC and signing in to it tried to change it to either an admin account or a local account. Could not do that.

The only way your son can change his account to a local account and "remove" it from Family, or create a new account is to have access to an admin account on that same PC (your account), or alternatively access to your admin MS account's Family settings online. For that he needs both your MS account username and password. It means that if you protect your own personal admin account (MS account) with a strong password and especially the Two-Step Verification, he has no way to access that account and he should not be able / is not able to change your Family settings or his account status.

Got a question about my video card, I'm curious if its time for an upgrade.
I have created some video clips that are 1620kbps, at 720x576. When I play these clips, my CPU usage skyrockets to about 90-95%, all allocated to whichever video player I'm using (tried WMP, Real, and VLC).
I'm thinking it has to be my video hardware that can't handle it. I know the old thing doesn't game anything created since 2001 (Halo), but has tech-time really passed me up by so much, to the point where I can barely play a video clip?
Processor: AMD Athlon XP 1900 (1.6ghz)
RAM: 1GB Kingston
Board: Soyo Dragon 400 Ultra
Video: ATI All-In-Wonder 64MB AGP

If its a consensus here that its a video card problem, I'll head out to go grab a 256MB card, and we'll see what happens.

Answer:Video Card can't handle high bit rate mpeg?

WOW 1620kbps is pretty high maybe a new vid card will help
and do you have the AC3 filters install on your machine if not this may speed up the playback.....

All the important ones (AVI, WMV, MPEG...). I don't need batch processing, but it'd be nice. My eyes are open for a free video cutter/joiner that can handle all formats.
I haven't seen any that can do a bunch of jobs sequentially or set them up for later. Not for free. I'm asking because I have a grand plan to get only the parts I want from movies/TV shows on my HD. I think I can do this one part at a time with Nandub for AVIs, but it can't handle MPEGs and such. A second problem is TMPEGenc doesn't handle all the mpegs. There's NOTHING on the end of WMV type stuff.
So I was simply wondering if there was an application that can cut and/or join a variety of formats. If not, I understand.

i bought a new stereo that allows you to stream songs wirelessly through wifi. however, it says i have to configure the settings to these:

SSID:W770-INST-PHAS
Channel: 5
WEP: off
AD-HOC mode

how exactly do i do this? im running winxp and my router is a linksys WAP54G. ive toyed around with a lot of settings and i really have no idea how. if it matters, im not the "main" computer on the wireless network. im in an apartment with a few other guys and its his router so i never installed any software for it.

anyway, thanks in advance.

Answer:how to change these specific settings..

well, i think it's pretty sad that you can't configure your own ssid in the media player.

but since you can't change those settings, you would be best to talk to your roommate, since it will basically change the all the settings on his wireless router, and break whatever wireless network he has now. Since i would be pissed if someone did that with my equipment, my guess is that he would be too.

We're running Windows SBS 2003, and would like a specific user account (which happens to be a restricted user) to have specific DNS settings, regardless of workstation.

That should be possible via GPO, but isn't working.

DHCP seems to be workstation-specific rather than user-specific, and manual modifications will affect other users on those workstations.

Ideas?

Thanks.

Answer:User-specific DNS settings?

What is the ultimate goal that you need specific DNS settings for? There may be a different way of going about it.

A personal favorite music site of mine now comes up as "page can not be displayed" when I try and access it. I've spoken with other internet users who are fully capable of viewing the site. Other than that, theres the generally slow behavior, and constant error messages concerning random files (which I dont recall at the moment). I run a few programs, i.e. NAV 2005, Spybot - S & D, and Ad Aware SE Personal, fix the problems that they find and still I am at a loss. Easy fix I say, and turn to the trust-worthy folks and Techguy. I come to find out, that when trying to open my HijackThis program, Im prompted with an error message titled "HijackThis.exe - Bad image" and the error goes on to say: The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\System32\MSVBVM60.DLL is not a valid Windows image. Please check against your installation diskette.

I'd rather not resort to reformating, but theres nothing extremely vital on the computer. Any help before I have to reformat. Thanks for your time

Hello!

I recently went into my AMD Control Center to learn what graphics card I had installed (I have a pre-built PC), and I've encountered a problem.

When I go to the information tab, all it tells me is that my GPU is part of the Radeon R7 200 series. I already knew this, but this doesn't tell me which specific GPU I have in that series (I.e. 250, 250X, 260, 260X, etc). This is what I need to know. I've already tried looking using my Device Manager, and same as the CCC, all it tells me is its in the Radeon R7 200 family.

How can I learn what specific GPU I have (screenshot of CCC below)?

EDIT: I've also looked at it using my DirectX Diagnostic Tool. Same problem.

EDIT 2: I'd also prefer to learn this without downloading any 3rd party software, but I will do that if it comes to it.

Answer:How can I find out what specific GPU I have?

TechPowerUp GPU-Z

Main Features

Supports NVIDIA, ATI and Intel graphics devices
Displays adapter, GPU and display information
Displays overclock, default clocks and 3D clocks (if available)
Includes a GPU load test to verify PCI-Express lane configuration
Validation of results
GPU-Z can create a backup of your graphics card BIOS
No installation required, optional installer is available
Support for Windows XP / Vista / Windows 7 / Windows 8 (both 32 and 64 bit versions are supported)
.. and yes, the author of CPU-Z has granted us permission to use a name similar to his product. Thanks Franck.

Hi,

Looking for advice on how to find where the touch pad settings may be hidden on this laptop I'm working on? I've looked in the control panel and there is no icon for touch pad and I've looked in the mouse settings without finding any options to change the settings for the touch pad? The laptop is an acer Aspire 5520-5912 running Vista Home Premium Service pack 2. Any ideas?

Answer:Can't find touch pad settings in Control Panel/Mouse settings anywhere?

Hi loki2007 Usually, Windows install it's own Microsoft Legacy Drivers for a touchpad on a laptop, and these drivers doesn't enable the "Advanced" settings that allows you to control the touchpad. In order to do that, you have to install the laptop touchpad drivers which will add that tab in the Mouse options.Download and install these drivers:http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Driver/TouchPad/Touchpad_Synaptics_9.1.16_Vistax86.zip?acerid=633639058794305220&Step1=NOTEBOOK&Step2=ASPIRE&Step3=ASPIRE%205520&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=PA_4Let me know if they install or not.

Check the file sizes. If VLC won't play them, they aren't valid files or they are corrupted.

Hi, i was wondering if anyone could help me with a little problem that i have. A Friend recorded some footage of my band playing live at gigs and practices. He game the footage ripped to a dvd in avi format. There are 24 recordings in total each approximately 20 minutes long and 175MB in size. Currently they all burn onto a single DVD however, most DVD players do not recognise avi format therefore they cannot be played. I am happy with the quality they are in now but i was wondering what was the best program to use to burn them ALL onto as few CDs or DVDs as possible, possibly to create a menu aswell that we can then give out to people who like our band.

Any suggestions as to how to solve this problem would be greatly appriciated

So I have a .AVI file that when I normally watch on the computer, is in a wide screen format with black bars on the top and bottom. I used neroVision to convert the .avi onto a DVD, when I played back the DVD on my TV, the widescreen was removed and the image was filled all over the TV.
When I used neroVision, it seems to do some kind of transcoding and than after that puts the video file onto DVD.
So what did nero do to remove that widescreen black bars?

I'm trying to piece together a few video clips for a personal video for my friends. Everyone submitted their own video clips so I have to work with different file formats - MP4, WMV, MOV, and AVI files. It's a big mess because some were recorded in HD720, others 640x480. Combined, there is around 2GB worth if clips. In the end, I want the final product to be in HD720. What would be the best program to convert these files? So far I've been playing around with Pazera Free MP4 to AVI Converter 1.6, but I have no clue what settings to use.

i.e. What output bitrate (kbits/s) should I use? How much FPS?

I can't sacrifice too much quality but I do want to cut down on space if possible....

I have about 12 Video 8 Cassettes about 90 minutes each in playing time terms.
Is there a 'capture' gadget of some description where I could insert the videos and view on my computer?
This would be with a view to editing and, when finalised write to a DVD. Obviously the original video camera would have been the logical method - unfortunately it has been lost so I am looking at what alternatives I have.
Any recommendations appreciated.
Brambles

Answer:Old 8mm Video conversion

You will require a VHS Video Cassett Recorder to record the tape onto. If you do not have one then maybe you know somebody who has one stuck in a cupboard somewhere who will lend it to you. Then you will need to find somebody who owns a camera, then you can transfer the films.
I used to do video transfers some years ago but had to get rid of my equipment as I started going deaf and have recently lost my hearing altogether and can no longer do any video editing.
I hope you can find what you are looking for.

Yeah I like Vegas 6 and Adobe Premier 1.5, Vegas 6 actually doesn't lag as much with my current specs but I enjoy using Adobe Premier much more. I'm going to upgrade my comp to handle editing more effectively and i just need some questions answered.

Specs Now:

3.2 P4 HT
200 gig WD with 2mb cache
512 ram
geforce fx5200
windows xp pro sp2

What i want to do is upgrade to my ram to a gig and add an extra harddrive with 8mb cache. Apparently you need the video and the program on seperate harddrives so my main question is if i get a 8mb hd and only store video but my program running on a hd wth 2mb cache will my program preformance improve or do i need to upgrade both harddrives to 8mb cache. and another question if i do upgrade both will it be even more increased.

Hello, I was not able to repair a corrupt registry on my hard drive via the traditional ways (using restore disk, restoring to earlier date, via safe mode, etc). By luck, I still had my old (smaller) hard drive after installing a larger one this past august and was able to boot up. So now the old drive is C: and my registry corrupted drive is E:. I tried restore to the last restorable date and it must be reading only from the C: drive, because the last restorable option is this past August. I swapped the drives again, and used the E: drive to try to boot with no success (same problem - corrupt files).

The question I have is, now that I can access the corrupt (E drive when I boot off the old one, is there a way to restore to an earlier date stored on the E: drive to fix that drives corrupted files? The corrupt problem started around Dec 27, and I know I have a closer restorable date with the data on E:

Or better yet, is there a better solution out there to fix the corrupte files than what I am trying to do?
operating system is XP PRO SP2

Hi -

Artemis detections are cloud/heuristics based. This can be a plus, but it can also lead to false positives.

Without knowing the exact file being identified, it would be difficult to tell you anything based solely on that. If you know the exact file name, please include it along with the appropriate logs.

Hi, I'm new here but stumbled across this forum whilst looking for help resolving a problem I'm currently having.

Lately I have been unable to access one of my favourite websites (a fan site for one of my favourite bands), but I know from other people that they are still able to access this site. I have tried scanning my PC for viruses and spyware and this had made no difference, and so I assume there must be some other problem but I don't really understand what it could be.

As my first though was that the problem was a virus I tried asking in the Internet & Networking/Security forum, in the following thread.

http://forums.techguy.org/security/432624-cant-access-certain-website.html

I've tried everything that they've suggested but I'm still having no joy, and so I'm hoping that maybe somebosy in this section may be able to help.........pretty please!!

How would I go about replacing these? Would doing so likely fix my BSOD problems? Any help is appreciated.

Now the old PC is kaput I was unable to use it to transfer settings etc. He is never sure what he has or where it is, but we eventually found the Sagem monitor driver CD, installed that, and it progressed to the option to 'join' Tiscali broadband (various options). This would have meant starting a new client setup and of course waiting for the Sagem modem, USB cable etc etc., which we already have. Using the two Tiscali CDs my friend found didn't work so I rang India (!) (Tech Support) who after some time said we were using Dial-Up CDs, and she would send a broadband Install CD - however it could be "a few days".Has anyone any alternative suggestions please to install the necessary content into the Internet browser?Incidentally, although the woman in India was polite, I found it hard to hear and understand her. Is there anyone in the UK one can speak to?Any help would be much appreciated.

I watched a video a while back of a guy doing a "Can Your Mac Do This?", and his boot time was under 20 seconds, everything loaded flawlessly, and he simultaneously ran 37 internet explorer tabs all watching videos at the same time to prove his speed. But on the bottom left where his taskbar was, he had a few monitors in the system tray. They were multi-colored and displayed the load on each core, percentage wise, and I've been trying to find this monitor but to no avail. Here is a picture of it, do any of you know where I may get this specific program?

I'm not saying his is displaying percentage wise, it could be something else all together, but the thing is, I'm curious about it, I can't ignore something once it catches my interest, so if anyone knows where I can get it, please let me know

[Edit: I forgot to add why the picture was blurry, the video on youtube was recorded on a camcorder, instead of recording software, so I grabbed a picture as best as I could, just thought I'd throw this in there so you all didn't think I was using a potato camera or something.]

Answer:Cant Find Specific CPU Monitor

That looks like a blurry version of Core Temp (use the U.S. Mirror). It actually shows core temperature instead of percentage and can display on the desktop or in the notification area of the taskbar (I do the latter). It's what I use on my desktop machine and notebooks—I run it full time from startup—and I've been very happy with it.

Potato camera? Is there such a thing?

Hello,

I'm completely new to this forum, but here's my problem:

My girlfriends laptop can't find our router. It can find the neighbours, just specifically not ours. The router must be fine, becouse I'm surfin trough it right now. Also other people can find and connect without any problems. The OS is windows 7. She used to be able to connect but recently the network is undetected.

I know absolutely nothing about networks, so help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Answer:Can't find one specific router

Hi Elduderino. Welcome to SevenForms.

From MS:

If your computer has a wireless network adapter, Windows will automatically detect wireless networks that are nearby. To see a list of wireless networks that Windows has detected, click the Start button , and then click Connect to. If Windows does not detect a network that you think is in range of your computer, open Help and Support and search for "Troubleshoot problems finding wireless networks."
If the problem began after you installed new software, check your connection settings to see if they have been changed. Open Network Connections by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, clicking Network and Sharing Center, and then clicking Manage network connections.
Right-click the connection, and then click Properties. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Hope this helps.

hi,
im have Gforce GTX750ti Graphics card and my pc runs: windows 7 64bit, kali linux 64bit, RemixOS, and a handful of other linux OS's.
my main monitor is a 42inc lcd connected by the hdmi on my GTX750ti, i have now connected a smaller monitor to one of the vga sockets and have it sat to the side of tue lcd tv. my question is this....
is there a software suite that i can place on the second smaller monitor that could just sit and monitoring my system and networking in real time (open ports on my system that i could close with a click of a butron, ip addresses connected to my pc "like caller ip sort of style", maybe netstat -ano type statisics along with, hdd disagnostics and various other monitoring tools) would just like to have my second monitor keeping me aware of what my system is doing in the background so i can quickly identify and trouble i suspect when my pc lags for now reason or my hdd powers up for no apparent reason, do you know what i mean?

Answer:Cannot Find Specific Module ?!?!

Did you look in your System32 sub-directory for this file?

A google doesn't give any hits for this - have you recently removed any viruses or spyware from your system?

I have a three dozen miniDV video tapes I want to get onto my computer in order to edit them. Can anyone recommend a card to enable uploading and software for editing?

Answer:Video Transfer and Conversion

Firewire card would be the best way. I think the last one I used was based on an NEC chip.

I use Adobe Premiere Pro. You can get Premiere Pro CS2 for free from Adobe since they disabled the activation servers for that version, just google it and you should find the info and page.

You can also rent the latest version for $20/mo, so just rent it for 1 month and do your capture and edits, then cancel.

I haven't used any other programs so I can't recommend anything else, well I could recommend Edius Neo as I have that and used it for a couple of days, it was easy to use but I was so used to Premiere Pro.
I got it for free in a raffle at a convention.

What's a good "all in one" video conversion program? Mainly if I wanted to take a large mpeg (or other format) file and convert it to something that can be streamed and shared over the internet?

I still have a lot of VHS tapes. They are the original small tapes that went into the camera. And the camera (an originally $600 Canon model) is still in good working order.

So I started to convert a couple of tapes. I use these facilities because they had pretty good reviews. However, the results are pretty disappointing. The original plays crisp and clear on the TV but the conversion is very fuzzy. I have uploaded an example to Youtube here. It is a snip of a video that the wife made about 14 years ago when our house was all new.

What do you guys think. Is this sort of degradation normal and if not, what can I do about it.

Answer:VHS video conversion - problem ??

Hi there
VHS quality isn't the best -- the best way though is to do it in REAL TIME using an S-VHS connector from your video out to a S-VHS video in if your graphics card has one.

The other possibility is to use a DVD recorder that writes DVD's -- plug a SCART or Video leads from your VHS machine into the DVD recorder and make the dvd's.

Then copy the created DVD to HDD. You can then convert the DVD video format to whatever you like but the quality --will be OK a small screen (up to around 24 to 26 ins) but won't look too good on the modern very large LCD TV's @ HD quality.

Cheers

Hi, I'm sorry if this in the wrong section of the forums, but this is the only suitable place I could find. Ok so heres my problem, I'm into gmod (garry's mod for those that don't know, a sort of level editor/creator for half life: 2 and other source games) anyways I downloaded some tutorial videos by an expert known as orb. That really doesn't have anything to with my problem, but I don't want people wasting posts asking why and what I'm downloading. So the problem is that the videos he uploaded are in .mov format (I want to put them on my PSP) (Quicktime's native video format). So I tried converting the file to mp4, using PSP Video 9 (A convertor that can convert many video formats to the PSP's native version of mp4). The conversion completed successfully (according to the program), but when I played the file it had minor audio discrefencies (problems, like clicks and pops in the audio) and the video kept glitching up (parts of the video would suddenly overlap other parts, sometimes the screen would glitch up and the video would go sort of cubeish and green. This would last for a frame or two then the video would got back to normal, only to happen again later in the video. I tried using another video convertor to convert the .mov to a standard mp4, then used PSP video 9 again to convert the standard mp4 into the psp's mp4 (I think the psp uses a different audio and video bitrate). The same problems arose. The original .mov file plays fine in both VLC and quicktime. PSP Vide... Read more
