Problem while encoding AVCHD video with Sony Vegas

Question: Problem while encoding AVCHD video with Sony Vegas

Hello,
I'd encountered a problem while I was trying to encode a 4:23 minutes long AVCHD clip with my Sony Vegas program.
It goes like this: I imported that clip, dragged it into the timeline, cropped about 20 seconds of it, added a transition in the middle (the cropped part), rendered as Sony AVC - AVCHD 1920x1080 PAL template and saved.
The size of the original clip is a 530 MB, and the size of the new encoded one is 480 MB which, so far, makes sense.
The problem is when I try to play the NEW clip. The first couple of minutes runs smoothly, quite the same as in the original clip. So far so good, but after that (and actually, it's even a few seconds after the cropping-transition) - the clip begins to go glitchy and jumpy, and you just can't watch it normally.

Does anyone have an idea why this problem occures? And even more important - how can I get it to be fixed?

Thanks a lot!
Jonathan

Preferred Solution: Problem while encoding AVCHD video with Sony Vegas

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So.. my camcorder (Canon Vixia HF20) records at 1081i, which is 2500 x something, or something? (Correct me if I'm wrong) When I open the file with Sony Vegas Pro 9 it says the project resolution is only 1280 x 720. How do I change it so when I open it, it stays at 1080i?

Hey all.

When I render a video using Sony Vegas 8 Pro, I get sound, but no video. I have followed several tutorials closely but still no luck. I render as a wmv file, change the size to 640x480, but still no video (just sound).

What I think happened is that I had set up Sony Vegas 8 a few moths back and had no problem rendering videos, but yesterday I started the program while holding down Ctrl and Shift (this resets all settings to their original positions).

Does anyone have any ideas how I can get the video to appear?

Thanks,

hi guys, i was just wondering if there was a problem with vegas video 4 and the xvid codec. i used another program, videomach, to compress a bunch of bmp images into a xvid coded avi file. now, when i go to open it up with vegas to add effects and such, it wont open at all. but, it will open other avi movies that are NOT coded with xvid. so, is this a vegas 4 problem, and that it doesnt like the xvid codec or something? any help on this would be appreciated.

I am capturing a half hour long video from a dv recorder to my hardrive using Sony Vegas studio and the hour and a half long clip is 20gb.

Am I doing somehting wrong? How do you guys and gals that use Sony Vegas Studio do it?

Also I dont like the fact that it breaks the video into several clips. How do I capture so it is one video?

Answer:why is my captured video so big (sony vegas)

You can capture it in full quality which you must be doing or lower quality......you can also capture it for editing in much lower quality and work with it as a much smaller file until you want to render it for burning to disk....when render to burn to disk you have then camera plugged in and it takes the full quality from the camera.

Have you got a extra Hard drive for those big files because you will need one.

I am using Sony Vegas Pro 9.

For example, Say my project setting is a 50x50 vid.

Now say I import a 25x25 vid. It will show a vid half the size in the preview part.

NOW say I import a 75x75 vid. Here is my question and problem:

Vegas resizes the 75x75 vid to fit within the 50x50 project settings. I don't want it to do that. I want to be able to import the 75x75 vid *AS* a 75x75 vid with it's full resolution intact. When it resizes the 75x75 vid to a 50x50 vid, it affects the resolution to crappy.

Plz tell me I can do this because if I can't then I will have to cleanse the Earth of this program with fire.

And BTW, yes, I know there's Final Cut Pro too. I don't have a Mac at home yet and Adobe's video editing prog doesn't like my POS computer. But I do like both Vegas and Final Cut pretty much equally. They both have their pros and cons and can do certain things easier than the other. Both work so I use them both when I can.

EDIT: I was thinking more on this issue. Maybe I'm supposed to do it in reverse. My Project settings are supposed to be the largest width and height of the video's that I'm using and I'm to set something else that sets....ummmm....the size of something else. I dunno. Nah, that can't be it cuz, I dunno. Just thinking aloud. I'm freakin' confused.

Answer:Sony Vegas Pro 9: Importing video question.

yes you can do this, resize it use the pan/crop tool on the clip itself. in the properties of the clip, I tend to "disable resampling" and check the field order to make sure it's not blending two feilds together (which will look crappy) then in the project properties check the de-interlace mode, field order and the render quality.

I'm trying to get a youtube partnership, by making my own webshow about games, movies, you know the drill. Of these two I only tried Vegas Pro, and it's great although pretty complex for newcomers xD

But recently i've heard about Adobe Premiere, and i've only heard great things about it. It is rather expensive though, which leans me more towards Vegas. But still, i'd like some input on this.

Which of these two professional video editors is better, Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas Pro (features, ease of use, performance, specs, etc.)?

Answer:Adobe Premiere vs Sony Vegas Pro - Which is the best video editor?

For YouTube stuff I doubt you will need the additional capabilities of Vegas Pro. I'd suggest Vegas Movie Studio instead. Pro has stuff for multi-camera shoots, compositing, and things associated with big-screen feature films. Plus it is much more expensive than Movie Studio - and Premiere as well.

I personally shy away from all Adobe products (other than Photoshoip Elements) but I have tried all the other video editors and found Vegas to be the most logical and easy to use. I agree it does seem a bit daunting at first, but the inline Help screens are very good and once you learn how to do things it all flows very seamlessly. I'd say check out the free demo of Movie Studio before you make a purchase that is more expensive than your needs.

He guys,
Does anyone know if an Alienware 13 with i7 processor is fast enough to edit 4K video's in Sony Vegas Pro? I currently own a desktop computer but i'd like to have a laptop for portability. Futhermore i'd like to know if an Alienware laptop works exactly the same as a 'normal' laptop like the XPS laptops.

I bought easy cap and I am using it with my laptop. Ulead video studio 10.0 came with it. Now, I don't know if the video editor, the easy cap itself or the camera but when I go to capture the video it lags so much. It doesn't lag when I watched it in the preview in Ulead Video Studio, so I don't know what the problem is. In Sony Vegas when I go to capture it, it doesn't lag but the video itself looks crappy. It looks like it is choppy. Does anyone know how to fix this. I don't believe its the camera because I tried to capture a video through my xbox and it still did the same thing. Can somebody help me?

Answer:Problems with Easy Cap & video editing with Ulead and Sony Vegas 7.0

sounds like a lack of drivers for the camera. alot of windows os's support a webcam and other camera devices natively but the support you get with them is HORRIBLE.

This post is to hopefully throw some more light onto a problem that I've only just found a workaround for.
The workaround is not a fix by any means but it allows the software in question to work again.

Problem :
Sony Vegas 10.0c ?Stopped Working? and no amount of uninstall/reinstall and/or deleting all traces in the registry would fix the problem.
The problem is apparent with all versions of Sony Vegas prior to 10.0c, Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD, and associated packages (DVD Architect Studio 5.0 and Sound Forge Audio Studio 10.0 etc)

Diagnosis and workaround:
Turns out that there is some sort of conflict when Microsoft Office 2007 is installed too.
?WowExec.dll? in the Office install folder is the offending article and as soon as the dll is renamed (wowexec_bak.dll) the ?Stopped working? issue vanishes. I don?t know if either Microsoft and/or Sony have made a fix for this problem but renaming the WowExec.dll file is a temporary workaround. A few error messages may appear when running Vegas for the first time when WowExec.dll is disabled but it allows Vegas to run again.
This issue was on Windows XPSP3.
Anyone else encounter this problem? If so, is anyone aware of a permanent fix?

J

Hooray for codec BS. I've installed K-Lite FULL codec pack, as well as DivX, but ANY .AVI file I put into Vegas only loads the Audio track, while saying the Video track is offline. I load the exact same file into Vegas on another PC and there is no problems whatsoever.

Solutions? I mean, this is a fresh install of Windows XP here.

Answer:Sony Vegas refuses to load .AVI video files correclty. Codec nonsense.

From a Google Search for MJPEG codec for Vegas, ironically, this thread showed up.
Why can't Vegas see the video from a file captured by a still camera? Audio plays, just not video.
Most digital still cams use an MJPEG codec to compress the media. You'll need to install an MJPEG codec. Visit:
http://www.matrox.com/video/support/ds/software/codec/home.cfm (freebie) <-- I filled out the info, and it doesn't download anything, keeps timing out.

Question: Sony Vegas Problem

Hello, I have a Windows 8 64-bit Lenovo Ideapad Y500 laptop. Recently, I did a complete reset of my laptop. After the reset, I installed AVG Free Antivirus, and all my other software that I had before, including Sony Vegas Pro 11. However, even after updating Windows from the control panel, the video clips I have in Vegas appears different than before. The video clips and its effects were running fine before the reset. Now, the effects seem to appear different on the video clips.  Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks.

I have three tapes from my camera, taken at a single event. I want to select some video frames only, without sound, from two of them and place in as video overlay into the master version in Vegas 8. I have captured the tapes into separate sessions with Vegas, want to make my selections from tape 2 and 3, save just the video portion not the audio, and move those into the primary Vegas session. (1) I cannot seem to be able to cut off the audio track, only mute it, while working on session 2 and 3. iIm concerned that this will result in an over-write of audio track in the primary session when imported. (2) I have not figured out how to save the portions of the clips from tape 2 and 3 so that i can then insert them into the primary session.

Any ideas? I cannot find the answers in SONY Vegas 8 Help nor online...

Answer:problem installing sony vegas pro 9

From what you say, it looks like UAC is involved here.

Are you using a standard user account or an administrative one?

If you're using a standard one, your PC may have UAC configured to deny administrative rights to simple users no-matter-what (you may want to read THIS for further information).
If it asks you to authenticate, on the other hand, you'll be asked to provide details (username - password) for an administrative account to proceed.

If it just asks you to confirm to proceed, you'll probably be already running it as administrator, so you'd just hit "Yes" or "Continue" to get past the UAC screen.

By the way, shouldn't this be moved to "software" instead?

Hello! I am new to editing with Sony Vegas. I have Sony Vegas Pro 9.0 I recently made a series of videos. I used many smaller clips to make these videos. Those small clips are now deleted, but I recently realised that I have made the videos with wrong resolution and they are also too big. I figured that I could just drop these files in to vegas and rerender them with the proper settings. (They are now 720x480 but I need them 640x360. And the file size must be also be smaller.)

here comes the problem: when I finnish rerendering those files, they become very blurry. Especially on sharp camera turns. It's horiible to watch them. It seems they hurt my eyes at some points. What is causing this???

These were the settings I used to render the original 720x480 videos:
http://imgur.com/DU0SN.jpg
http://imgur.com/FPIUw.jpg

These are the settings that I use to rerender the new videos:
http://imgur.com/cgdtn.jpg
http://imgur.com/9Os3w.jpg

What could POSSIBLY cause the blur? I have experimented and changed a lot of different settings including Motion blur, but nothing helps. So... I am desperate now.

Hey everyone. I've been having this problem for a while now, and it's starting to get really annoying. Every single time I render my WMVs in vegas with the ff settings:

Video rendering quality: Good
Audio
-MODE: CBR
-FORMAT: Windows Media Audio 9.2
- ATTRIBUTES: 128 kbps, 44kHz, stereo (a/v) CBR
Video
-MODE: Bit Rate VBR
-Frame Rate: 30.000
-Seconds per key frame: 3
-Average Bit Rate : 4.5 M

I get the video to render completely, however, Vegas states that only 52% has been rendered (I hope that made sense).
It then starts to render from the start for about 2 seconds, freezes, then crashes the software completely.

I tried rendering in AVI and MPEG, but the quality depleted. AVI takes up so much space as well.

I don't know what to do anymore. Help please? Thank you!

Before I bought the real thing, I had an expired 30 day trial of vegas studio 9, which I uninstalled prior to buying it. I can install the disk, no problem, but when I open the icon on my desktop, it says that:
Your Vegas Movie Studio Trial has Expired
If you would like to continue using Vegas Movie Studio software click Buy Now below.

But I have already bought it, and I do not want to waste another £30 by buying it again. Is there a way to get rid of this message? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and turning it off and on again.

So can anyone help me out?

Answer:sony vegas 9 registration problem

Uninstall your Vegas Movie Studio with "Revo Uninstaller". It will remove completely Vegas Movie studio even form registry entries.
After that reinstall it again.

Today I was editing with Sony Vegas Pro 8 when the following message appeared, "An error occurred while starting playback. The system is low on memory. You may be able to reduce memory usage by closing other applications." I tried closing other applications, and it still didn't work. I then checked the memory usage of my computer, and it appeared fine. I took a print screen of it just in case (seeing as I'm not exactly computer savvy).

When trying to edit a .avi file in Sony Vegas Pro 8.0 I get this message: Stream attributes could not be determined.
This is not the first time this have happened and I usually solve it buy running a codec finder program and download the suitably codec. But this did not work for all of the files this time.

The codec I downloaded this time was: Fraunhofer MPEG Layer-3 Audio Decoder

I get this information when I run the files that did not work in a codec finder program:
128 Kbps, 48,0 KHz, 16 bits, 2 channels, MPEG Audio (MP3) (Version 1) (Layer 3) (Joint stereo / MS Stereo)

In the files that worked because of the codec I downloaded I get this information:
128 Kbps, 48,0 KHz, 2 channels, MPEG Audio (MP3) (Version 1) (Layer 3) (Joint stereo / MS Stereo)

The only difference I can spot is the 16 bits part. Is it this that is the problem?

I have Windows Vista.
Help would be highly appreciated!

Recently I was developing a video in which I was using different formats such as MPG and AVI - I was trying to get the best quality and decided later that the AVI files were my best choice. Problem was, when I tried to PREPARE the files for burning in Sony DVD Architect, it would go through the entire file until it reached the end, then gave me an error message stating the a SIFF file header was missing. What's that and what can I do to make sure this doesn't happen again?
BTW - I later converted ALL my files to AVI, and there was no problem. Could it have been that I tried to mix file-types on one DVD?

This is a pretty weird problem that I can't get my head around. I recently did a Let's Play on my computer, but for some reason the file was split into 11 parts. That's not really a problem because I could just put them together in a video editor. So I tried out Sony Vegas 11 first. No matter what I tried rendering my 13 minute video as, it would have a constant green-flickering, and when there was no flicker the frame rate was horrible. Needless to say I gave up on Vegas 11.

So now here's my problem with Vegas 9. I rendered one small part of my video to make sure it worked, and it came out perfectly. So then I go and try to render the whole 13 minute thing, but no matter what I try I get this error. "System is low on memory. You may be able to reduce memory usage by closing other applications." Now, look at my specs below and tell me if that should be happening. It shouldn't, which confuses me. It renders perfectly on my friends PC with 2GB of ram (and his ram is lower quality than the 4GB I have). Could anyone tell me what's wrong?

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601)
Intel Core i5 CPU 760 @ 2.80GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.8GHz
4GB RAM
Page file: 2223MB used, 5962MB available
DirectX 11
ATI Radeon HD 5830

Answer:Major rendering problem with Sony Vegas 9?

Try this app,
VirtualDub download (at SourceForge) - virtualdub.org

You can load the first clip and then append the rest of them.
then in the Video Button on the Menu, select "Direct Stream Copy", and check the Audio menu as well and have that set to "Direct Stream Copy"
And then save the AVI.
Should only take you a couple of minutes to do, as long as Virtual Dub can load the files.

Hello. I had Sony Vegas and it handled .avi files perfectly, I had made a video which was mostly made up of .avi files.

Then I had problem with codecs and now Vegas doesn't handle them and it says 'media offline'. It plays the sound but not video. But .avi files work fine when I play them! I tried uninstalling and reinstalling vegas, plus the codecs but to no avail.

Only difference I have seen outside of Vegas is that the thumbnails in folders do not show up for .avi files anymore. I think whatever would make them show up would possibly make them work in Vegas too.

Does anyone have any help?

I've tried all possible solutions: Reinstalling Vegas, and reinstalling the Visual C++ that comes with the Vegas installation. I've searched every possible thread out there for solutions, but no one seems to know anything. I sincerely hope someone here does.

how do you put the words that you want in the video while playing the video. example. in music videos they have the words at the bottom left of the artist and the song and some other info while the video is playing. how do you render that?

Answer:vegas problem:words on video

In those music videos they're probably using a fairly expensive peice of equipment called a Tricaster that overlays that text on the screen.

You can add your own text to video when you're making them. I have Studio and Premiere Elements so I don't know how you do it exactly in Vegas but in the two I have I just click on the add or insert text/title and put a simple line or two in where and for however long I want it to display. Then when I make the video or burn it to DVD its in the video.

For about two months now, whenever I use a program that involves encoding video, the program crashes: " [program x] has encountered a problem and needs to close. " Every time.

The problem manifests itself most often as follows:

- Using the software that came with my webcam (Logitech); whenever I try to compress video for e-mail.

( Logitech support investigated every possible solution and tentatively determined that the problem lay with my OS )

- When using Windows Media Encoder- I can no longer compress video or change video formats

- When trying to preview videos while downloading.
All of the above worked before. I have made no changes to my OS that I am aware of. I have all the latest updates for the respective software and virutally every codec. And to reiterate- it all worked before.

Sometimes when these crashes occur Windows XP Error Reporting will refer me to a Microsoft "Crash Analysis" that posits that the crash was likely caused by "MPEG Encoder manufactured by MainConcept AG" and suggests that I can solve the problem by updating this program.
I have never had this program on my computer.

Very mysterious. Any ideas?

Hello,

I am trying to install Song Vegas 8 onto my Windows Vista via the installation disk.I have been having several small issues, first it takes forever to start installation and then when it does FINALLY begin installing I receive this message "Your system has not been modified. To install this program at a later time, please run the installation again" why does it do this? what does this mean? and what on earth do I do?

Also to try and combat this I have already e moved the start up file to the desktop and have been starting the installation manually. Also I deleted some files to ensure I had enough space.

what on earth should I do???? I have been trying for three weeks to get this to work, I know it's probably a simple fix but I have no idea what on earth to do!

I heard that some newer camcorder can record AVCHD video with xvColor such that when you play the video on an xvColor supported player and an xvColor compatible monitor/TV (e.g. Dell U2410), then you can see wide gamut video.

My question is, given an AVCHD file (ie .MTS files). How can I tell if the video was recorded with xvColor???

Hey guys!

This is my first post and I really need help for my desktop.

My goal is to do some Crysis live commentary and the computer keeps randomly crashing when playing the game (or any other game) and consistently crashing when encoding the video (crashed with 2 different programs).

System info:

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1
Microsoft Security Essential
CPU: Phenom II X4 955
RAM: F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL
PSU: OCZ500SXS2
GPU: 2 x AX5770 1GBD5-H (Crossfire)

Symptoms:

- Randomly BSOD or Hangs when playing Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Starcraft 2
- Consistently BSOD or Hangs when encoding videos with PowerDirector 10 and Adobe Premiere 10

Tests or thing I've tried:

- Prime95: 1 error (not pro enough to understand the rest)
- AMD Overdrive: crashing sometimes on stability test
- Temperatures of CPU and GPU are ok.
- Tried using single GPU, nothing changed.

Thank you very much for your pro support guys!

Answer:Seriously complicated problem (BSOD, HANGS, VIDEO ENCODING & RANDOM))

Both the links below are training videos provided by sony. The first one provides the basics of the Vegas program, but sony recommends using them to learn the basics. The second link contains some more indepth editing options which are available in vegas 8. All videos are free and could probably do a better job explaining it than we could.

Question: SONY Vegas

Has anyone used Sony Vegas? I am interested in purchasing it to edit some DV. In the past I have used Avid products. Would anyone know anything about VEGAS? I have heard good things. Do I need a break-out box? I have a pretty decent machine to run it on:

> - Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz Dual core processor 4 MB cache
> - 2 GB DDR2667MHz Dual Channel Ram
> - Nvidia Geforce 8600GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express Video Card
> - Dual Layer DVD burner drive
> - XP
> - 500 GB SATA -2 HD
> - 160 GB OS drive

Will vegas and this combo be good?

Thanks

Answer:SONY Vegas

Your computer shouldn't have any problem running Vegas. There are, however, different versions: If you get the Studio version, it is basically a scaled-down version of it's big brother Vegas Pro. The price difference, however, might be daunting: Studio runs around$90 and Pro runs around $700. If you are a beginning at editing, then the Studio version would be the ticket. If you have already done some editing and no longer consider yourself a novice, then the Pro version is definitely the way to go. As I said before, it's an expensive alternative to Studio, but if you are a serious editor and plan on doing more than just a few home vid's...need I say more? It is, in my opinion, a full-featured editor with a small learning curve. Good luck!

Answer:I need help with Sony Vegas 10

a couple of things to check:

have you altered the setting for the monitor window? it should be set to "fit to window" or some wording similar ( I don't have Vegas but most editing software has the capability to change the size/view of the monitor window.

what are the initial settings of the project? if you are only seeing the top left of your recorded clip it sounds like the pixel dimensions of the project file are too small - they should match the source files' dimensions. If they don't, the stage is too small and can only show part of a clip unless you scale the clip down to suit. Vegas has a "match to source" function from memory: when setting up the project you can click on that and Vegas gives you a project with the settings matched to the source.

Hey Everyone and thank you very much for visiting my thread, hopefully you'll be able to solve my problem....

I Have an HP Pavillion Laptop with Windows Vista 32bit SP2 Home Premium
I've had it for two years now and it's wonderful.

Well except for two things....
1) I'm a film major and I use Windows version of Adobe Premier, which is Sony Vegas Pro 9. The program was working fine when I first got it, but recently it continuously becomes non-responsive. I make one or two moves, and the whole program just freezes...the "window message" pops up and I have to close down the program.
-Now I?ve tried programming my computer making SV (sony vegas) the highest priority when it's running, but so far it doesn't help.
- I also run Adobe After Effects on my computer and it works perfectly fine, but I only use that for motion graphics instead of the video editing

2) When ever I do run SV, my fan goes crazy and my computer heats up! I bought an external fan, but it does not seem to help. (And yes I know my CPU fan is working properly because you can practically hear it. And I clean it every month)

...and in all honesty, i really don't want to spend $$$ for a Mac.

----
Because I know you?re going to ask here are my computer specs:
OS Name: Microsoft? Windows Vista? Home Premium
Version: 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Build 6002

Heyy!
Welcome to Vista Forums!

I use Sony Vegas Pro 9 too, and iv'e never experienced anything like that...

When does the problem happen, like when your rendering the movie?

I'm just thinking here, when the program freezes, leave it for a while, 10 minutes maybe, when you try to close or stop the program from doing anything, it "confuses" the computer even more.

Hope this helps you,
And please remember to post back with what you have tried,

In Sony Vegas 5.0 What is a Crossfade? And is there a way/tool to create an automatic crossfade?

So if anyone could help it would be much apprieciated. i need the answer written in the forum. no links to other places otherwise i won't get the credit for doing this.

Thanks to all that help

Answer:Sony Vegas 5.0 Help

In the time line if you take two images/videos and overlap them you'll kinda see an "X" form and that will crossfade from one to the other.

^See all the blackouts between clips? THOSE USED TO HAVE CLIPS, it blacked out certain parts.

Now, I know it's not the codecs/formats. Because I made it with ONE MOVIE, not a bunch of episodes, one movie that was all one format.
That I split myself in Vegas. So that issue is out.

It's not the transistions, because clips that didn't have transistions messed up..
It's not looping, I turned that off and tried.
A friend said when they speed up or slow down clips that happens to them. But I need those sped up, so I tried to split the slowed down ones, STILL NOTHING. It shows the transistion/effects but not the clip.

It's not what I'm rendering it as either, tried all different ones.
It's not effects, took all those out and still nothing.
It's not space between the clips, zoomed in as far as it would go and there's no blank spaces.

I STILL GET BLACKOUTS NO MATTER WHAT!
Does anyone have that same problem or know what to do to fix it? >.<

Answer:????? Sony Vegas 7 ????

It does the same thing that the standard ripple effect does. It closes gaps after you make cuts. Just make sure both your sound and video track or chosen.

I plan on doing a lot of video editing this weekend. I make some video blogs for gamespot and I want to do at least 3 videos this weekend. I finally got Sony Vegas version 7 but I don't know how to use it.I had Windows Movie Maker but it crashed too many times and I was tired of it. I also installed the software that came with my webcam. It does basic editing. But do you think that I should keep Sony Vegas installed on my computer? I've been hearing that Sony Vegas is the best for video editing. Do you think that I should try Adobe Premiere?

Answer:Do you think that should I keep Sony Vegas?

I personally found Premiere Elements easier to use than Vegas but I think there will be a learning curve for all REAL video editors when compared to the more rudimentary video editing programs like WMM.

There is no "best" either. Its more like what do you specifically need and does that video editor do that better than the others or not. So I'm a Premiere Elements and Studio 11 user and Premiere allows for multiple video and audio track mixing a LOT better than Studio, BUT, Studio is unmatched when it comes to more complex clips where I want to make a bunch of clip edits. If I was looking for great stability, Premiere. If I was looking for high volume throughput of a lot of video, Studio, but I would definitely be sacrificing stability.

So I have a video camera that shoots 1080p and saves the clips as *.mts files. My quad core at home handles playback of the files in VLC and WMP, however my laptop tends to choke up on them when using VLC or WMP. I have managed to get them to play flawlessly using the Oxygen Lite player, however I was wondering if anyone else has additional suggestions, or has had better luck playing them in VLC? Oxygen manages to play them by turning off glass (which I tried to do with VLC, and they still suffered playback issues). I could easily convert the videos to a much friendlier format I know, however I'm keeping them in their raw format for archival purposes. Unless someone can suggest a lossless format, I'd rather keep them in their raw format until I get a chance to return home in a few months and edit them on my primary computer.

Hi. more than 2 years ago I bought a Panasonic camcorder High Definition. I travelled for more than a year and I got many DVDs (transfered from SD card using Nero). It has been a nightmare trying to play them. My Pc is Dell(3.2 Gyg memory and graphic card is 512 Mb expanadable to 1 gyg). I have used WidMediaPlayer 11, VLC and Power DVd. I also have an LG BlueRay player.Yesterday I bought a Sony BluRay player to attach to the tv. The immage and sound is fine but the clips plays about 3 seconds apart. What can I do to play them smooth and like a movie without gaps?.I think one possibly solution is to change the file extension but wich one?. Thanks for any help.

I make photo slideshows with a program called Pictures to Exe from Wnsoft. Version 7 has just been released which includes a feature to include video within a photoslide. It's a feature which does not interest me but many regular users on the forum seem excited about the announcement.
I may be reading your question wrongly but Wnsoft's website will prove it one way or another. PtoE comes at a reasonable price considering it's a one off payment, all updates are free. As I read it, the DVD Builder comes licenced for 3 years although the main slideshow section remains for life.
Hope this is what you are seeking.

I have Sony Vegas movie studio 8.0 if that helps at all.
anyone can help?

Question: Sony Vegas MPEG

I am trying to open files that I have saved as MPEG's in Soney Vegas to edit, however nothing comes up when I import them. I can import AVI files just fine, but I do not want to convert these files to AVI because the quality of the video becomes nearly ruined when I try. How do I open MPEGs to edit?

Ok, so I have tried downloading Vegas about 3 or 4 times now,and every time, it looks like I have everything worked out, but then I get a message requesting a cookie, any suggestions for fixing that?

Also, when I use the "register online" option and go to the page, it gives me an "error -32", any tips for that?

Also, I use a keygen for this, please give me a list of steps to make sure this can work for me (my computer is an XP).

Answer:Sony Vegas Registration

Ok reading between the lines..using a keygen suggests that you really don't want to register online. Unless of course Sony have issued a keygen which I doubt.
But thats none of my business. If you have done what I think you have done then don't register online as that will tell Sony that you have Sony Vegas.

Best follow instruction you got from your "source". If that source is lacking and it sounds as if it is, then download the application from another supplier.

Keygens can be very good but also very BAD. Holding dodgy files that can cause damage to your registry or leave trojans.
Also this keygen may not work with xp.

If I have assumed wrongly and Sony have given out keygens to register their product then please accept my apology, but if they have I will eat my hat.
LOL

Well I have been delighted with the product so far, the best video editor I've used. But when I decided to get back to my working on my video I get this script error that appears all the time and does not allow me onto Sony Vegas regardless whether I press Yes or No.

I'm in a rush to finish my project, I hope someone can help.

Thanks

These might even be related for all I know.

1. How do you set the number of times you want a region to loop? I have some I want to loop maybe three times or so, but not forever... Makes the video kind of long, right?

2. Is there a way to adjust the audio volume level within a clip. I know some programs allow you to place a "handle" in the volume level line within a clip and drag it up and down. I'd like to pull the audio down during a V O, and bring it right back up after. I know I can split the audio clip and do it that way, buy I suspect the more knowledgeable have an elegant way of doing this.

Being a newbie isn't for sissies! LOL

Hi guys. I recently picked up a Dell T5500 with a single Xeon 5645 from a friend to replace my aging Celeron 3300 that was entirely too slow for video editing. The machine runs great, boots quickly, but I get lockups either while editing or rendering in Vegas. One of two things happens, either a bluescreen or complete lockup.

I have run Memtest and gotten no errors, y-cruncher and others to stress the processor, nothing but running Vegas seems to cause the issue.

Any help would be greatly apprecitated!

Below is my collected logs.

Answer:BSOD while using Sony Vegas Pro.

I didn't start out to respond to this but the Celeron part caught my eye, had never run into a Dell Precision that used that CPU.

That is a powerful computer.

As for the problem, I'd wonder if the 120GB SSD has sufficient room on it. Or is there a second drive, maybe a 2TB instead of the 2GB mentioned?

Hi all,
I have a Sapphire 6950 2GB Dual Fan Edition (reference BIOS though, stock clocks, all standard - so the standard AMD drivers are used).

I'm on the latest drivers (Catalyst 12.10, OpenGL 6.14.10.11931, etc), and everything except Sony Vegas works fine with my card.

I don't want to switch to something like Premiere because I like Vegas, but I really do need GPU acceleration, and can't figure out why this isn't working (because many people buy the 6950/6970 as video editing cards)...

So does anybody have any idea as to what might be the problem?

FYI - When in Vegas, there is no option to turn on GPU acceleration, it's blanked out.

Thanks,
Luke

Answer:AMD 6950 + Sony Vegas = :(

Firstly, upgrade to the latest drivers for the HD 6950.

You will want to do a clean uninstall using this AMD Graphics Driver uninstaller.
Then, you will want to download these drivers.

After going through a clean install of drivers. Try again to use the GPU acceleration. If it still doesn't work, reply back.
