Charging light keeps flickering on and off and windows 8 charging icon keeps flickeri

Question: Charging light keeps flickering on and off and windows 8 charging icon keeps flickeri

Hello,

I have got an ASUS k56cb for more then a year now and it has been working fine for my. But now i came across this problem while trying to charge the laptop while windows 8 is running. When the laptop is turned off i can charge my laptop but when i try charging it while windows 8 is running it keeps flickering.
I have reinstalled windows 8 but that didnt fix the problem. And if i try to run the laptop on ac-power it will shut down when booting or shut down after 10-15min. Before this problem i was charging the laptop while working. I dont know if its the charger or the battery. I have measureed the charger and it is gives 19v all the time. I dont really know what to do know and any help will be appreciated.

Thanks!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So lately I've been having an issue with my laptop.  The charger is plugged in but the computer doesn't seem to recognize it unless I shift the laptop to a certain position.  This seems to have little to do with the position of the AC plug in the DC port at all as it's not the same positions that will actually get the computer to recognize the charger is plugged in. I don't think this has anything to do with the battery itself as removing the battery does not make the connection more consistent.  The computer will still not recognize the AC adapter is plugged in.  I had the same problem with my old laptop, a V570. It will also briefly lose connection and restore it before my display can process it.  I know this by the CPU throttle in the BIOS (which I can't access to turn off because of the version of BIOS used) will randomly slow my computer down and won't restore to full speed when the charger is making connection again. What just happened lately which is making me wonder about this more is that my laptop stopped recognizing the charger as being plugged in in the tray icon but the charger light on my laptop started flashing orange.  The blue power light was also flashing. Sometimes when I restart my computer to reset the CPU throttle, I will get a pop-up message from the Battery Management Software stating, "Adapter has limited support: performance will be affected ..." Full specs available on the purchase page here. &n... Hi, So out of the blue my Yoga 13 seized up while sitting at the start menu in Windows 8.1. I had to kill the local svc host which had accumulated over 2GB of ram... just so I could shutdown the machine,  but when I shutdown some craziness started. The power wouldn't turn off even after 20 minutes. I held it down forever and finally it did turn off (maybe the shutdown was incredibly prolonged). I did also flash the bios after this craziness, to the one on the suggested download site (version 55).  At any rate, that's when the problems really started: I got the plugged in not charging issue in windowsThe battery charging light no longer turns on when plugged in (though the battery is charging). The novo button doesn't work.Unauthorized battery messagePower button wasn't responsive when off. It took several minutes for it to register. I of course have tried, from the forums: Letting the battery run down to zero/Shutting down the power from the bios. The latter fixed the unautorized battery problem.Uninstalling/Reinstalling Lenovo energy management. This does allow the battery icon in windows to show charging above 90%... sometimes.Turned off fast boot in windows and bios. Hi, I bought my Yoga 910 on may and its battery was charging normally until 3 days ago. Suddenly the charging symbol/icon in the screen start to oscillate between showing and not showing the plug - plugged and unplugged - every 2 seconds. The icon was blinking together with the charging led light (as the movie attached). I checked the cable for possible lose connection, but everything was in place.I checked also the battery on windows device manager, looking for some update, but everything was already up to date. The battery was not charging and now it is completely drained. Any help? Thanks,Paulo

I have a G560 , when battery is depleted and needs a charge . If I plug my AC adapter in my battery icon shows I have the AC power but the icon shows that it is charging for 17 seconds and then quits showing that it is charging. If I unplug the power supply and then plug it in again. The same 20 seconds thing. I can get the battery to completely recharge all the way up if I plug and unplug. I am wondering if it is a defective voltage regulator problem? I do not want to replace the battery if the battery is not bad. It is just out of warranty by 3 monthes. This just started happening . Thanks and God Bless : )

I recently had my Qosmio F55-Q502 repaired by Toshiba.
Two issues were addressed and one is fixed.

However, the second was attempted to be resolved unsuccessfully.

When I attempt to play multi-media games such as Call of Duty IV, even if the system is fully charged, within minutes the system will start to blink the "backlights" and then when I see the charging icon, it says "Plugged in, Not Charging."

This really concerns me as I have read online many similar issues, but none of the solutions seems to work.
To have to restart the machine everytime this happens and your in the middle of a game, really stinks!
I even had it happening with SimCity4 which is an ancient game.

Any good suggestions on this?
They did replace the battery when it was sent in which seems to be what most people say needs to be done.

Answer:Qosmio F55-Q502 - charging icon says: Plugged in, Not Charging

Hello

If your Qosmio notebook was in repair I think you should not discuss about any issue on forums but make a pressure on service and clarify every single problem with your notebook.
Please do this because the warranty is still valid and now is the time to clarify everything.

I am not hardware specialist but it sound to me as some power supply electronic issue but I cannot say for sure. Talk with service. Try to clarify this with them. Be nice, be cool and everything will be ok.

So I've updated my Lumia Icon to Win10 a couple weeks ago and it worked quite fine.
Today I've found my phone at 17% battery charge. Plugged it in and forgot about it for a while. Couple hours after - 12%! Went to the battery saver setting and saw (plugged in, not charging) message next to the battery charge percentage.
Replaced the battery - same problem. Computer sees the data from phone as usual. Tried a different USB cable - same story. Tried to charge it with a wireless charger that worked just fine for me recently - same issue. Did a regular restart, and a couple of soft resets - nothing changed. Not sure what else I can do now. Don't want to do hard reset until it's the absolutely last chance.
Any ideas guys?

Sorry, I'm a bit confused. Not sure if Machine # 1 or Machine # 2 is having the icon issue. Whichever machine isn't showing the icon ... try rebuilding the icon cache.

The flickering only occurs when the laptop is charging. It happens when I play games, and I have noticed it happen occasionally when I open the start menu. When playing games, it looks like the flickering may be changing the screen resolution. The flickering does not occur on a second screen when using an HDMI cable. I have installed all of the updates for the device and tried adjusting the screen refresh rate.
Could this be an issue with the power cord?

Answer:Dell Inspiron 5555 Screen flickering when charging

Hi there, Since the flickering is only local to the notebook and does not follow the HDMI connection (is that even when charging it?) this most likely is an issue with the screen itself or the cable attaching it. However, have you tried updating to the latest BIOS on the system? I know you mentioned updates, but that might be something worth trying first. Best,Brad

Hey all, I just bought my first Lenovo System Recently and I'm having a hard time figuring out whether or not my battery is fully charged when the system is turned off. I know other brands like Acer change the charging light from yellow to green or blue when the battery is fully charged. However, for the IdeaPad, it turns from orange to a blinking white light. Is this normal?

My Samsung laptop charger has the light coming on however it is not charging, the charger is heating up so is this the charger or the laptop? have ordered another charger from coywood.co.uk as they had universal one's and i rang a couple of local computer shops but these wanted £65 to even look at it so advice would be welcome incase this does not work?

Answer:Charger Light On, Not Charging?

Hi

first off dont use anything but an official charger, the cheap ones can and will damage your motherboard due to them being unregulated and supplying to much current.

If the charger has the light on but wont charge then the internal cable is broken and may be shorting out inside the sleeving.

check the cable by eye for severe kinks or bends in the cable.

Should you find one, cut the section just before and after the kink and then strip the cable back and join the wires and test it, if it works then you can either solder the wires and use heat shrink plastic to join them or buy a new one.

Answer:Charging light keep blinking

I guess you should read the manual, normaly it means battery failure in other brand notebooks.but if yours has charge prolly they are OK, by the way you can't charge more than that if your using it (connected and ON), it happends too with HP notebooks.

Hi, I have a really annoying problem with my Thinkpad S531. My LCD screen flickers since the first boot up.It produces only when it is charging, between 0-90% state-of-charge and AC adapter is attached. It doesn't require to boot up to the OS, it makes it from the power on, in the bios, during the boot up and so on. When I enter in the BIOS under these circumstances, the screen goes black and nothing happens. With external monitor through HDMI, the external monitor doesn't flicker, but the notebook screen still flickers. After the battery is charged up, everything is OK, but I think it's not acceptable, especially after two service repair  It was at service two times and the motherboard was replaced two times, but nothing changed. I have no time and since it is now out warranty, no money to send it again for repair in the service. I have tried the following:- different Os-es (Win7, Win8, Win10)- disable video cards (Intel and Radeon 8670M)- disconnected the Hall sensor- connect other AC adapter- BIOS update Are there anyone, who has the same problem, or have a fix for this problem? I would kindly accept any solution! Szaki42

Hi,
I have a problem with my screen. My screen flickering only when gaming and plugged in. But when i plugged out the flickering stop. Also, when the power still plugged in but i don't play any game (just browsing, playing video, etc) there is no flickering at all. So flickering only occurs when gaming and charging.
I tried connect to other screen with hdmi, flickering only occurred at my laptop screen. The second screen is fine.
I tried update my bios, adjust power plan, update my nvidia, adjust screen frequency from 60 hz to 48 hz, but there is nothing happened. The problem is still there.
Can you help me with my problem?
Sorry for the grammar.
Regard.

Slowly the battery started not charging, the day before it happened it was charging, but only after waiting a bit with it plugged in, or I'd have to turn it off and keep the adapter in to plug it back in. When its on, the indicator light isnt on to signify charging and it isnt charging. When the laptop is off, and I plug in the ac adapter, it goes from a blue light, to a red light, then off in the same pattern, not charging at all. I'm wondering if this is a problem with the battery, the solder, or just the motherboard itself. I tried a new power supply and took out the battery as well, when its plugged in without the battery, pressing the power button will turn it on for a second, but it wont fully turn on and the charge light will also turn off when the whole thing turns off, but immidiately go back to the solid blue when its completely off with the battery out.

This morning, I was working on my computer when it would randomly shut off. It did it a few times and I could immediately turn it back on. Now, it will not turn on at all. The light that says it is charging works. Also, if i close the laptop then open it back up, the power button will light up, then making an odd sound, and shut off again. The battery is not a removable one either, so I do not know what to do. Please help, I just spent 2 hours working on an assignment and it will all be lost if I can't get it turned back on.

Hello. I purchsed this purple HP Stream about a year back, and it worked wonders for about 8 months, until I lost the charger. I happen to keep my writing archives in this computer, and I have a comeptition this weekend. Thinking I'd be able to pull somethibng out of my archives, I borrowed a charger and plugged it in. The LED light that signals it is charging will not light up. To clarify, it has been sitting untouched and uncharged for about 3-4 months, in a safe and dry place. There is no reasonable explanation for any damage both internal and external. I have read forum after forum and switched charger after charger, all to no avail. I don't know what to do or where to send it. Honestly, the most important thing for me is not losing all the written work I have in it. Someone PLEASE help. Thank you

Hi all, I bought a U41-70 only a few months ago. Just recently, while I plug in my laptop to charge, the battery indicator shows status charging. However, the LED indicator stays orange and slowly blinking (light is on for 3-4 sec then blinks and so on). And the battery percentage won't increase as well. I have looked into Lenovo settings but the Power Status tab says AC adapter is attached and the main battery condition is Good. Do you have any idea what is happening here or any suggestions?

CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME OUT OF MY Hp 630 CHARGING LIGHT PROBLEM ?
........................................................
... My Hp 630 light is always off when 'am chaging it. It only indicates the FULLY CHARGED LIGHT wen fully chaged. I dont always know if truely power adapter has been correctly pluged unless I turn it on to see the charging indicator on the battery ICON. Pls, what can I do to show red light while charging?

Answer:Charging Light Problem- Hp 630 Notebook PC

Hello MG mate a lot of the LEDs used for the charge light actually change colour so say for charging they will glow yellow for example and then green for fully charged.

Now depending on what sort of LED/s it is either means you have to replace the charging one or the whole thing as some LEDs work on circuitry that will change the colour depending on the stored charge ie volts and theoretical available current.

this may give you an idea on what I am saying https://www.sparkfun.com/products/105? &

Light-emitting diode - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Having said all that to replace is no mean feat you need to be able to disassemble the machine and from experience those LEDs are very small. For what it is worth my friend I would just accept that the fully charged comes on if it doesn't well something is wrong either with the battery or adaptor

Oh by the way I meant to mention my Toshiba's show me when power is hooked up too so in effect I have three LED indicators on the machine

Good day,I have reached the next problem: after I've returned back from a vacation, I have inserted AC adapter into my laptop and the orange battery indicator was not displayed. I have turned on my laptop and found, that the battery doesn't charge - there is "Plugged in and not charging" message near the battery indicator in the tray. I have tried to follow the steps from the http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-and-U-series-Laptops/Ideapad-Z400-or-Z500-battery-will-not-cha... , but it didn't hepl - the program freezes on the first step "Now configuring the program..." http://take.ms/k0TBi Have also tried to delete/reinstall Energy Management - nothing helped. OS - Windows 8.1 x64.Power Management Version 8.0.2.14. (have also tried to reset battery via that toold - didn't help). Thanks in advance.

So I recently was just using my Lenovo for work, and I noticed that I was on low battery. When I plugged the computer in, the charging light started flashing orange at an irregular, syncopated rate. In addition, the computer will not actually charge. At this point, the computer has 5% battery left and it's turned off. What's wrong? Is it a problem with the battery, the charger, or the computer itself?

I have a Gateway, model ID49C. I bought it new about 3 years ago but replaced its battery less than a year ago.

This phenomenon has been happening for more than a year: When I plug in my computer to charge, sometimes the front power light (orange when charging) and the light for the power button start flashing in unison and the computer stops receiving charge. It immediately stops when I unplug the computer. This only seems to happen when the computer is open -- I can still fully charge it overnight. Lately it's started to happen so often that my computer can barely charge at all from the number of times I have to unplug it.

Does anyone know what's going on, or where I could look to find more info? Thanks for your help!

Hello,
Just wondering if you could help me out. I have a windows ten, intel inside core i5 Samsung laptop. I don't know what information you need so I will give you as much as possible. It has worked fine for months and most of today, the charger is the problem, the green light is still on when plugged in but it flashes with a very dull green light. The wall socket works and it is definitely the charger rather than the electric supply to my room. I have ensured that everything is plugged in properly however it will not charge the lap top.
Its a delta electronic inc charger REV 2.3, there is a CNBA number if required.

Thank you,

I have an HP ProBook 455 G1 that won't start / boot. All of a sudden, the light next to the power cable was blinking white.  The laptop wouldn't turn on - no lights, no display, no fan activity.   I have tried the recommended hard reset solution already where everything is disconnected, including the battery, and the power button is held for 40 seconds.  This solution does not solve the problem I'm experiencing with this laptop. I've been troubleshooting it for a few days have had no luck. Through reading fourms, some people had similar issue and solved it by disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard. I have tried this and still no luck. I have changed out the following; Memory, Harddrive, Charger, Battery.  Still no luck. If you know anything that I could try or anything that would help, please let me know. Many thanks

My V5 471PG battery charging light blinks for 3-4 times then stops then battery not charging. What maybe the problem? Is it the battery or what?

Answer:My V5 471PG battery charging light blinks for 3-4 ...

It almost sounds like there is a problem with your Battery or Charging unit.. It could be that there is a short in your Charger Cord and if you unplug it form the computer and run down the length of the cord you may find any area where it became kinked and then damaged.. Also if you have a meter you could try testing the charger and see if it is working to the Specs of the charger... Shold be wrote on the unit how DC output it is. Maybe 19 to 20v DC...  Hope this helps someJames

No, there's no software control for the LEDs.  They're hardware-controlled.

But even after reset the battery, open and check all the connections by voltmeter (including the charging port, battery connection in the motherboard & adapter). I have a Thinkpad X1 Carbon (Gen3) Model 20BS touchscreen  running Windows 7 64 bit. The battery is not charging -- it's in a perpetual state of "plugged in not charging"  and even when plugged in, it?s losing appr 1 percent per day (down to 31%). This has happened a few times over the past 3-4 months since I got the machine, but I've managed to find things that "fixed" it (at least temporarily): - Resetting the power gauge worked once - Changing the custom battery charge threshold worked a few times - Plugging in the power cord at different stages of reboot seemed to fix it once (although not sure why / how) Based on previous thread posts, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Power Manager and then tried to run Battery Gauge Reset, but to no avail. And the reset only appears to run for about 30 sec before the system tray icon switches back to normal. Thanks in advance. Karl

So I got a toshiba satellite l300d and it does not charge/turn on. I bought a new socket and charger that work. The board looks fine with no corrosion. Is there anything that could be stopping the laptop from working and could it be fixed?

Answer:Laptop - no charging light even when socket & charger works

Does the laptop have a separate power board? Is that what you mean by "new socket" ? Or did you replace just the jack (desolder / resolder new jack) ?

May need to crack it back open and use a digital multimeter to see what voltage is coming through it.

Hello. A few months ago I purchased a refurb T61.  I don't know the screen size at the moment.  The battery just died without warning. I assume that I need to purchase a new one.  Is this a common issue with IBM batteries?  The customer service said that it is not subject to a recall.  I was considering buying a refurb battery 9 cell, due to the price.  Do you think it is likely that it will konk out in 6 months? Also, in reading old threads about similar issues, people are talking about battery abuse.  What exactly is that?  What is the best way to use a battery in a lap top?  Should one remove it when it is plugged in?  And is it okay to install the battery while the computer is on and running?  Is there ever and issue of unplugging a computer that is on and with a battery in it and replugging it in in another socket?  etc. Thanks!

Answer:T61 (6464) Battery Not Charging and Orange Light Flashing

Hello,

All rechargeable batteries eventually fail, it's just a matter of when.  I believe the T61 was introduced in 2007, which means its likely the refurbished unit you purchased had a battery around five to six years old.

You can try purchasing a replacement battery from a third party, but make sure they are reputable and you get some kind of warranty in case it dies all of a sudden.  Counterfeit batteries are quite common, and unless you purchase a genuine battery from Lenovo it's something of a gamble.

I have always left batterys plugged into the notebook and let Lenovo's power management software manage the battery for me.

Hi, this laptop is 2 years old and about a week ago it just failed to switch on. No warning, just one day nothing. When it's connected to the power supply and turned on there's nothing, no faint hum, no fan activation and no charging lights. I've tried changing the AC adapter but the new one has given me the same issue.  I'd like to know if this model is capable of operating without the battery and just connected to the AC supply as if not then I may need to consider replacing the battery but if it can operate then I won't waste the time or money. Sadly this PC is just just a few months out of warranty so I am finding it difficult to get in contact with HP regarding a proper repair. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might have gone wrong with this computer? Thanks,  AN

Hello,My HP Envy 15 laptop started having this an issue about 2 days ago. I was in class and it was plugged into power when suddenly the computer crashed. No warnings, no shut down screen. it just instantly turned off. Unfortunately, it is a few years old and the warranty expired in January this year. I had not done any hardware upgrades/changes it was completely out of nowhere. I then went home and plugged it in. There was no power charge light beside the power cord on the side of the laptop, however I came back 20 minutes later and there was a white charge light. I then powered it up and was on it for about 10 minutes before it crashed again. It is sitting on my desk now on charge. no lights on or anything and it won't turn on. I have tried turning it on just on battery power, I have tried just on ac power and none will work, Any suggestions would be much appreciated

He plugged said charger in again but nothing, the notebook will not turn on nor does the charger seem to work, we changed the fuse and still nothing. If you press the on button there is a rapid flashing light on the left hand side of the notebook which seems to be the charging light but the notebook remains unresponsive. Any ideas please? Thanks

Product Name: HP ENVY 15-u010dx x360 Convertible PCProduct Model: 15-U010dXOperating System: Windows 8.1 (64-bit)When Purchased: July 2014 The Problem: The LED charging light flashes continuously (even when powered off or plugged in) and when the laptop is plugged in, the battery simply will not charge.  Details: This just started today. When the laptop is plugged in, it states "plugged in, not charging." However, the battery doesn't lose charge while it's plugged in. It's like the computer is dependent upon the power cord and the battery is shot.  This is strange because I don't leave my laptop charging for long periods of time. Thinking back, my laptop has died at around 11% charge since I purchased it. What I've Tried:turning it off and back oninstalling updates and restartingseeing if the laptop would charge while it's offswitching cordsswitching outletshours of browsing HP and other support forumsI'm hesitant to try any battery calibration or removal until I know whether my battery is removable. Hi guys,

I have the above model and recently when I plug my power cord at the back of the laptop instead of the usual green constant light indicating charging, the light keeps flashing and the orange light of low battery keeps flashing as well.

I checked the outlet, unplugged the power cord from the laptop and plugged it in back again but doesn't help. A few times it started charging so all was fine and now it again refuses to charge.

Any suggestions how I can fix this will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Answer:Satellite A30 - power light flashes and battery not charging

It seems like a hardware problem?

Usually if the power LED flashes then this sounds not good because the LED provide an error code which can be read by a notebook technician?

But before you will contact the notebook technician for the help try to do this:
Remove the battery pack and disconnect the AC adaptor from the notebook?
Wait about 20-30min and then connect both parts again.

Then try to power up the notebook?

If it doesn?t help that it?s time for the ASP call?

Hello Guys,I have HP dv6 pavilion series with Windows 10 (64 bit) for 4 years now. I dont have the Battery so I usually work with directly connecting the Power cable. It worked fine till now. Today it abruptly Shut down and since then its not booting. The Charging light keeps on Blinking.I have tried the 40/30 sec trick (holding thepower on button for 30-40 secs for the capacitors to discharge) twice, but in vain. I also cleaned up my cooling fan and checked for all the wiring, its all intact. After re-essembling the laptop, the same problem persists. And about the Bios update, I do think I have the latest bios updated, as my laptop is connected with internet, and I usually keep it all Updated. And if someone recommends me to Update the BIOS, well I cannot power on my laptop, so is there any alternative for updating the BIOS? Earlier it did Abruptly Shutdown twice or thrice over last few days, but used to Power up again. But today it wont work. Please Help Me guys. Thanks

I am having an issue with HP Envy 15. It will work with the battery in, but no power light comes on (either white or amber). With battery removed, the laptop won't boot, and LED flashes three times white. Issue:When plugged in, battery in, Laptop will boot up, no lights on, PC works. Battery doesn't charge, but doesn't discharge eitherWhen plugged in, no battery, Laptop does not boot, and LED power indicator flash three times whiteWhen unplugged, battery in, Laptop runs, but battery discharges. I've searched the net and this forum extensively. Most "three flashes" occur when laptop won't boot. I don't have that issue when the battery is in. Only with the battery removed. I've tried the CMOS battery drain trick, no changes. I've tried a new battery, no changeI've check the power plug 'pin', it is straight. Anyone have an idea what might be going on?  I am good with this laptop until something happens that both batteries end up dead, then I am stuck with a laptop that is basically a high-priced door stop. Thanks in advance.

Hi...

I am having a problem with my laptop computer. I figured out that my laptop, when being charged or using the Power Outlet, runs at 100% CPU at times, and slows me down when running and working on some open applications. At first I thought I had tons of spyware or even a virus, and even posted a Hijackthis file here. Nothing was found.
I figured out that my cpu runs at 100% when using the power outlet, or when my computer is chargnig. When I unplug the powercord and use the battery life, everything runs GREAT!!!!! my cpu drops to a normal 4-8% usage with multiple applications running. WEIRD huh? Can anyone relate to this ?? Is this and indication that my battery is going bad???? Can someone help me with this or suggest what is going on? I am running windows XP home edition, and have a compac presario 1500 series. Hello and peace on you..
I have a DELL Inspiron N5110 from early 2011
I was using the laptop correctly..The laptop was plugged in and the battery was charging..Then i removed the charger let the laptop on battery until suddenly the laptop shuts down without even telling me that the battery is low or even leaving some "emergency" charge on it (usually 7% or 5% i don't know)..I plugged it in to charge it again and open my leptop and i found out that the battery is not taking charge anymore!
I tried to see if the propblem is with the connector and tried to remove and put in again the charger and it ddid not work
i tried also to remove the battery and put it in again, it did not help
Now it is stuck on 2% of charge from 5 days and it's plugged in!
The laptop says that the battery is charging, but actually it is not charging and the charge level is the same from days
I looked up some solutions online like uninstalling ACPI microsof from Device manager and reboot the laptop..It did not work
"Jauge de batterie" which is an integrated software related to DELL, says that the battery health is good and that my battery is working properly
The laptop works fine with only the charger plugged in and battery out
PS: the laptop heats usually but i think it did not affect the battery at all since it was working fine and the charge took me about at minimum 30 min on high performance to be emptyed before this happens.
Please, i'm seeking for help
I hope you can ... Read more

Answer:Battery says: Charging, but it is not actually charging while plugged in and is stuck in 2% for 5 days !

First thing to check is wherther the sysetm recognizes the AC adapter - F2 at powerup to check that.
If it doesn't, try a new Dell OEM AC adapter - if that doesn't fix the issue, replace the DC jack board, and if that doesn't solve it, the mainboard.  Note:  you MUST use a Dell adapter - NOT a third party unit.
If the system DOES recognize the AC adapter, but won't charge the battery, chances are the battery is bad and will need to be replaced.
You cannot solve the issue without checking and, if necessary, replacing these parts.

Hi, I upgraded my Sony Vaio to Windows 10. Since the upgrade, battery icon showing "Plugged in, Charging" but not actually charging. Always it is in 3% and when unplug the power, system shutdowns.

Answer:Sony Vaio - shows charging, but not charging the battery?

From: Recovery and Troubleshooting Guide
Connect to a Power Outlet in the Startup Guide.
When you intend to run your VAIO computer on battery power, the battery pack may have run out of power. Connect the computer to a power outlet. For details, refer to Connect to a Power Outlet in the Startup Guide.
If you did not previously follow the standard procedure to turn off your VAIO computer, the power controller may be suspended due to a program error.
Do as follow:
- On the models with a built-in battery pack, unplug all cables and peripheral devices, including the AC adapter and USB devices, from the computer, push and hold the battery off button for at least three seconds with a thin, straight object (such as a paper clip), and leave the computer for at least
five minutes. Then, plug the AC adapter and turn on the computer once again. For the location of the battery off button, refer to Locating Parts and Controls in the Startup Guide.
- On the models with a removable battery pack, unplug all cables and peripheral devices, including the AC adapter and USB devices, from the computer, remove the battery pack, and leave the computer for at least five minutes. Then, reinstall the battery pack and turn on the computer once again.
? If the charge indictor is blinking or the ? power button does not work, a battery error may have occurred or the battery pack may not be detected.
Do as follow:

Hi Guys, I have had to change my battery, got a brand new DELL battery but I can't get it to charge...I'm running Windows 10 PRO. I have tried the fixes listed above but unfortunately NONE has solved my problem. Any suggestions?

Answer:XPS 12 9Q23 Power Charging Disabled / Plugged in, NOT CHARGING

Hi DAEMONROD.
Where have you purchased the battery from? Does the old battery charge fine when plugged in?
Are you using an original Dell OEM Adapter? When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay firm or does it fall off easily? Is the adapter frayed? Is there any damage on the system? Could you test with another power adapter if possible?
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS with and without the adapter plugged in. Also, wiggle the adapter cable at the end and see if the status changes in BIOS at any point. Check the battery health in BIOS (if applicable).
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us. These are onboard diagnostics and they might possible pick some error if the hardware is not functional.
Test another power adapter and check. If the adapter fits in loose, then the dc port needs to be replaced. You would need this part.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private message with the service tag and your Name for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

Hi ! Over the past two weeks I've spent my time troubleshooting why my recently (used) bought X240 is not charging the internal battery. Short timeline: 1. Bought used X240 in good condition but with dead internal and external battery - working well when using power supply.2. Came home and tested that thing -> both batteries show "0% - not charging" (with Win10Pro installed) *suprise, surprise*3. Ordered both new internal and external battery.4. External battery came 1.5 weeks ago. Installed it and worked like a charm (Battery 2 (external): X%, charging).5. Internal battery came the day before yesterday. Installed it and did not work -> "Battery 1: 53% - plugged in, charging - Battery 2: 6% - plugged in, not charging)6. Waited the recommended 6-12 hours like it was written in the "manual" to get it fully charged.7. Next morning -> Batterystatus unchanged (see point 5) ... It's stuck at 53%. Though the status says it's charging, it doesn't.8. Simply tried out what's going to happen when I pull the cable of the power supply -> Notebook instant off *hmmm*9. As the external battery was obviously blocked from charging by the internal (as it was not charged), I've taken out the internal battery again and et voila, external battery is charging again.I've tried to remove both batteries and perform the "Magic Trick" (press the main power switch for 30 secs) and I've also pushed the "reset" switch on the backside near the battery. Sadly without any result ;-(... Read more

Answer:X240 internal battery not charging though "plugged in - charging"
