Solved: Is this RAM compatible with my Lenovo IdeaPad Z575?

Question: Solved: Is this RAM compatible with my Lenovo IdeaPad Z575?

Yesterday afternoon I purchased a Lenovo IdeaPad Z575 for $499.00 from this link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834246328

Obviously, it hasn't come in the mail yet. I'm looking to upgrade the RAM in the laptop. It comes with 6gb of RAM, a 4gb stick and a 2gb stick. The problem is, I don't really know what kind of RAM is in the computer. I'm looking to replace the 2gb stick with a second 4gb stick.

The type of RAM the laptop uses is pc3-10600 1333mhz ddr3, non-parity, dual-channel capable, two 204-pin so-dimm socket RAM.

My question is whether or not this RAM is compatible with the laptop: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Electronics-Extreme-MV-3T4G3-US/dp/B00591ZYX8

Also, if there is a better option for RAM for this laptop, I'd like to know.

Preferred Solution: Solved: Is this RAM compatible with my Lenovo IdeaPad Z575?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Solved: Is this RAM compatible with my Lenovo IdeaPad Z575?

Honestly, I think I may have mental problems. It looks like I answered my own question in this post. That RAM is compatible with my laptop. So I guess I'd just like to know if this RAM is the best option for this particular laptop.

I bought a Lenovo IdeaPad Z575 and ever since I have had it, I have had to sit on top of my router to get the internet to work. I took it to a tech store and they told me there was nothing wrong with it but as soon as I got home, It would not connect to the internet. Are there certain routers that this computer is not compatible with? It's getting very frustrating.

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Z575

hi sjs10,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

If you use a cisco router, check this KB article from microsoft. If your router is a different brand and you get a "Windows was unable to connect" error, try the following:

On your router:
1. Disable WPS and WMM (WiFi Multimedia) on your router
2. Use WPA2-PSK AES or TKIP encryption
3. Set the channel to Auto.
4. Set 802.11x mode to Mixed bg+n (set it to b+g if you get any issues)

On your PC:
5. Reseat the wifi antenna (see page 41 of the Hardware maintenance manual)

Let me know your findings,
neokenchi

About two months ago I purchased an Ideapad Z575 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834246328) and it was working great for a few weeks. However, about three or four weeks after I bought it (about three weeks ago now) I decided to update the drivers to keep it current. I had heard that it was easy to mess this up so I made sure I was downloading the correct drivers, and I still think I was. However, since I did so, after booting the laptop, it will run fine for about five minutes, then completely freeze for five or ten more before returning to normal. This happens every time, and I thought I would just deal with it, but it's just become a major annoyance and I can't handle it anymore. Sometimes it shuts down completely during these sequences. I want to revert to what was there before, but I can't find out what it was I changed, exactly, and I'm not confident in myself enough to try to do something again. I only downloaded a new video driver, but whether it was for Catalyst or the GPUs I can't be sure. I didn't make a backup either, but my hard drive is nearly full now and wiping is out of the question. So, what can I do? If there's anything I left out, I'll be happy to provide whatever is needed. I'll be active here until I get this resolved. Somebody please help, this has gotten very frustrating. Thanks. EDIT: I should add that I did not uninstall the existing drivers before installing the new ones. If I knew how to check what I've installed or repla... Read more

I've had my Ideapad Z575 since August and even then, the temperature of the GPU and CPU skyrocket even when I'm just browsing the internet. The Lenovo Energy Management Software doesn't really seem to help much with the high temperatures either. So, is there anyway to increase the fan speed so insure my GPU isn't running at 50 degrees while idle?

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Z575 Controlling fan speed?

Hi

Thanks for the post.

As your issue is regarding the CPU fan speed

I would suggest you to please update the Bios of your system from the below mentioned web link.

Afterwards, please restart the system and check whether the issue gets resolved.

Are there any driver packages for the lenovo ideapad z575? Not seperate downloads but one big download?

Answer:Is there a Driver Package for Lenovo Ideapad Z575?

hi Gregrs,

As for the meantime, there's no driver package yet (i.e. .iso, zip,  etc.) that you can download for the drivers for the Z575 as the drivers are only hosted separately via the lenovo website.

In the future, Lenovo's Driver Grabber will support one huge download for all of its drivers-- currently it can only grab drivers for certain machine types.

Hope thsi helps

I have a Lenovo Z575 IdeaPad that needs to have the battery replace. I've been scouring the Lenovo website for products for the IdeaPad Z575, specifically a battery to replace the one I have, and I haven't been able to find anything. I would really appreciate it if someone could give me some information about which battery I need to replace the one I have and where I can get it if Lenovo doesn't manufacture it anymore. Thanks for your help!

Answer:Lenovo Z575 IdeaPad Replacement Battery

Hello and welcome,

I don't find in the accessories section of the sales site either

Several batteries are listed in the   Lenovo IdeaPad Z475Z575 Hardware Maintenance Manual .  I did a quick Google on one of them and found some at Amazon.  I can't speak to their authenticity.

Since you don't give your location I can't link to an appropriate Amazon page.  Google is your friend.

I am having issues with onekey recovery because I am trying to factory reset my laptop. I have used it before without issues, but I believe it may have happened after I tried out Windows 10 but then reverted back to Windows 7. If I try to use OneKey recovery through the program, when I select the option to reformat, it just restarts my computer normally. If I try to use the onekey recovery key on the keyboard, it just turns on my computer normally. Any solutions to this issue?

Basically,My Lenovo Ideapad Z575 laptop randomly freezes when you plug ac in our out!Does anyone have a solution? I have 64 bit Windows 7Thanks

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Z575 freezes when plugging out / in AC Plug

Hi MF777,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with system freezes when the ac adapter connected to the system.

Power management software could be causing it.  When you're running on battery and then you plug it in, power management kicks in and brightens the screen and resets the timing on the hardware as far as putting it to sleep and waking it up.

You could try going into your power options and changing the settings so that they are the same for battery as well as ac.

Then see if it still does it.

The components on the system board that handle the switching between battery and ac power might be getting weak.

Try to reinstall the power management and check for the issue.

Click here for the power management.

Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists!

Best regards,

I recently updated my windows 7 to windows 8. But I hated it so I downgraded back to windows 7. When I get on my computer, I install onekey recovery through a USB. It opens correctly and the computer restarts, but than it just goes back to the log on screen. It doesn't even go into system recovery mode. I think the problem is either that the windows 8 drivers are still on it or I need to install the drivers from here, the lenovo website. If you want to know what it looks like, it looks like windows basic and I can't change it to the regular windows 7, its just stuck on basic. Help?

Answer:Onekey Recovery issue on lenovo ideapad z575

hi Gregrs,

Once you upgraded your Windows 7 system to Windows 8, some lenovo pre-installed softwares will not be able to work, including the One Key Recovery - see this Windows 8 Upgrade Guide fore more info. If you have created a Windows 7 recovery disc using this guide, it'll be best if you use that disc to restore Windows 7 OS + the drivers that came with the PC.

Hi all,Not sure if this is the right thread for this but I found this laptop on http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834246328 and fell in love with it. Figured it would be perfect for my needs and I could also play WoW here and there on it.However, I notice that it's been "discontinued" on the site (which means it may or may not be restocked) and I CANNOT for the life of me, find this same model on any other site! Newegg is apparently the only site that carried it, but it is now classified as "discontinued". So I'm assuming that maybe they don't make that model anymore? Or it's just really that popular? If I still have trouble finding this model, I was considering going with the Z575 12992DU model instead. Which I found on Amazon. Thanks to anyone who answers.

I have a Lenovo Ideapad Z575 laptop with windows 7 pre installed on it. With the realse of windows 8, I decided to upgrade from windows 7 to windows 8. That was a big mistake; So, I wen't from windows 8 back down to windows 7. I didn't notice this until after I setup my computer but the windows 7 drivers got deleted and they were replaced with nothing. Because this is a Lenovo brand computer, it has a program called onekey recover. So I installed that through a USB becuase the laptop doesn't have a LAN wireless network connection driver on it. And I don't have internet at my house. So anyways, once that was installed, I ran it and it didn't work. Is there anyway I can restore all of my drivers and use the lenovo onekey recovery?

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Z575 Upgrading & Downgrading - Mssing Drivers

You will have to download the drivers from Lenovo. Generally, Windows 7 will install many drivers, although it may not install all.

You will have to download all the drivers from Lenovo for the Z525. Start with the video, Sound, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, touchpad, etc.

Once a different OS was installed on the PC, I don't think the Onekey or any recovery partition will work. Only a manual install with a Windows disc and all the drivers.

hi Gregrs,

Thanks for using Lenovo Community Forums!

-Onekey recovery Software will only work hand in hand with the Recovery Partition on your hard drive so you can launch the onekey recovery software within windows an also create Recovery CD.

-Pressing the Onekey recovery Button when turning on the computer will also Access the Recovery Partition on the Harddrive.

I think with the Re-Installations of Windows on your computer might had deleted or corrupted the Recovery Partition.
So the onekey Recovery software and The Onkey Recovery Button will not work anymore.

With installing your drivers you can go to this website and download all necessary Drivers and Software for you computer.

Hope this helps,

Hello there,
I have a Windows 7 Home Premium Lenovo IdeaPad Z575. I connected it to my 37" lcd TV (Acoustic Solutions) via a HDMI cable and the laptop detected the new display using the AMD Vision Engine Control Centre, and it worked perfectly with video and sound, no problem. Then one morning, I turned on the laptop, and the TV showed the extended desktop as usual, but there was no sound!
Many internet searches on this topic later and I have ensured that the audio was set to the AMD High Definition Audio Device as Default, I have tried the most up to date AMD graphics and audio drivers from both the AMD and Lenovo sites (Catalyst versions 12.8), and rolled back to older video and audio graphics as I read some people saying the latest drivers were the problem (Catalyst 12.6 - should I go back further??). I even tried a BIOS update and a chipset utility download from Lenovo. Nothing has brought back the sound.
I don't know if it's a related problem, but I also cannot, despite all this, find the SM Bus Controller driver either, despite a chipset install. Argh.
My laptop identifies the PC as a Generic PnP Monitor in Device Manager, and an AMD High Definition Audio Device if I look at the volume controls. The TV recognises the connection as HDMI and as soon as I plug in the HDMI cable my desktop appears on the TV, and the volume icon switches from speakers to the AMD HDMI output.
The only difference all my installing etc. seems to have made is that even if I tell my lapt... Read more

And will it fit in terms of size, in place of the CD Drive? Also, is it recommended to add the SSD? Any downsides to doing so?  Lastly, will I, someone who knows the basics about computers and the internal components of a computer, be able to install the SSD myself? Hello dear Community! I've got a Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 notebook, purchased 4 years ago.Not so long ago the HDD just went wrong again so now I'd like to put an SSD in it instead of a new HDD.Here's my first found: SSD Kingston 240 GB SSD, V300, 7mm (other specs: 2,5 inch, SATA3 interface). So, my question #1 is whether this SSD will be okay for my machine or not?If not could You just suggest me another ones that are compatible with it for sure (around the same capacity)? Another but not so important question #2: is it possible that changing the drive manually (no guarantee anymore) will cause the original (with-purchased) Win7 OS not working? Thank You very much for Your response in advance! Best regards,Zsolt László

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 - compatible SSDs

hi Zsolt,

Welcome to the Forums.

I haven't seen anyone used the Kingston 240 GB SSD on the Z570 but it should work as it's a 2.5" drive (ensure that you can return the item though just in case the BIOS doesn't detect it).

Alternatively, you can opt to get another brand like the Samsung Evo as other users have tested it on this unit.

Video:
Samsung SSD on the Z570

As for the OS, Windows should automatically activate itself once you re-install Windows (e.g., From a backup, a recovery disc, or fresh install) but in case it doesn't activate, you will need to activate it by phone.

To the best of my knowledge all sata's are backward compatible, therefore if the MOBO in your Z575 is only sata 11 you can still connected it up, but they might be a very slight bottleneck.

Attention!Laptop Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 10 is not compatible with Windows 8.1 and Windows 8.1 Update (pre-installed operating system is Windows 8.0) .More specifically, after update for Windows 8.1 all the  drivers (including the latest)  Intel (R) Iris (TM) graphics, Intel (R) Iris (TM) Pro graphics and Intel (R) HD GRAPHICS  installed on this laptop  does not support out of the sleep mode. This has been checked many times by different users laptop Flex 10.Any comments from Lenovo are absent. By Lenovo specifications for this notebook there are no conflicts with Windows 8.1. It is not true!It is unclear why Lenovo has admitted this deficiency.I think Lenovo Flex 10 is a mistake that will cost the company Lenovo.

Hello, I've just purchased the Lenovo Z510 Intel Core i7 (model 20287) and I've got a few queries: 1. if there is one mSATA connector available and free (not already connected) so I could be able to add an ADATA XPG SX300 mSATA SSD? this one is compatible with lenovo products?2. if yes (compatible) ,I can be able to install the Win7 OS after and if system will recognize the new ssd? any tutorial?3. if no (not compatible), what are Lenovo laptops compatible with mSATA ?  Many thanks in advance! Charlotte.

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Z510 (20287) - Compatible mSATA SSDs?

hi Charlotte,

Regarding your questions:
1. Looking at the specs sheet, the Ideapad Z510 does have a mini PCie card slot to fit an mSATA SSD but it doesn't indicate that it supports mSATA data signaling (and this slot is occupied by the wireless adapter).
  - Link to picture (page 27 of the HMM)
  - Z510 Specs

2. Not compatible. If you're leaning towards an SSD upgrade, you could consider getting a regular 2.5" SATA SSD and replace the HDD with the SSD and install Windows 7 on it. Check this thread as other users have sucessfully installed Win7 on their Z510.

3. Natively, these are some of the systems that supports mSATA:
   - IdeaPad Y400 / Y500
   - IdeaPad Yoga 13
   - IdeaPad Yoga 2 Pro
   - IdeaPad U310 / U410 / U510
   - IdeaPad Y580

Sample articles / videos:
Y500 mSATA
Yoga 13 mSATA
U410 mSATA upgrade

Nowhere in the documentation, web site is any info about what kind of controller and hence what size SD cards this model is supporting.Even Lenovo tech support doesn't know that info!I am really hesitant to buy a SDXC card of +32GB only to find out it supports on SDHC cards, thus limited to 32GB... thanks for any useful info, Ralf

Answer:What kind of SD card controller is in a Lenovo IdeaPad 120S-11AIP? SDHC or SDXC compatible?

Hi ITWorxLA,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As per system overview :
IO port: Memory card slot (SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC)

Platform specification:
One microSD Card slot, supports up to 2TB

Usually there would be stickers on the box or laptop to indicate the format it also supports.
You can try to find/borrow  a spare 32GB SDXC to test first before purchase.

Hope this helps answer your query.

So I was running the PC like normal when all of the sudden all my app's closed and it powerd down like it was shutting off. Now when I power it back up all I get is a black screen with a blinking cursor, I removed all my usb drives and tried forcing it to boot to the HDD from the boot screen but same result. Any ideas?

Answer:Ideapad z575 will not oot

Try booting from a CD - the reason is to see if the system will boot. If possible try a Live version such as Linux Ubuntu. If it boots then it's the OS on the harddrive at fault.

Question: IdeaPad Z575 bsod

So I got this lenovo like 20 days ago and from day one it got bccode 116 from day one what the hell right? Brand new and already messing up >< Anyways I tried to look online to see if I could fix it myself and well it hadnt happened for a while so I just dismissed it. It kept happening every now and then but not enough for me to send it in till two days ago. I got bccode 116 again but this time it also had atikmpag.sys at the bottom I dont know what that is to be honest. Anyways it got to the point where I would turn it on and it would freeze after 10 secs after it booted and I couldnt even alt+crtl+del only thing left to do is shut off and go into safe mode. So today I just said what the hell and did a fresh windows 7 installation and it went smoothly everything was working untill I downloaded the video driver straight from the lenovo site. I installed it and sure enough 2 minutes after installing BSOD T_T same as before bccode 116. So I guess my question is do I have a faulty graphic card or something? Should I send it in or can someone here help me? Thanks in advance

I just bought a Lenovo IdeaPad Z575 from Newegg and it arrived today. I was really excited to get it to work, which it did, at least for a while. I installed Ubuntu 10.10 as opposed to the default Windows 7, and put it on sleep mode while looking up information about WiFi drivers on another workstation. I closed it and it seemed to enter sleep mode just fine, except it wouldn't wake up when I reopened it. I shut it down with the power button, and now when I turn it on, the fan initiates but the screen remains black. I tried pressing Fn + F2, to enable/disable the screen, and yet it continues to be black. The HD is only accessed for a few seconds after power on, afterward it is not, and the computer sits there idle. I'm really disappointed that my new laptop is already having problems and I don't know what to do. I can't get it to turn on, even when plugged in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:IdeaPad Z575 Will not boot?

If you have a another Windows 7 PC/laptop you could try using Create a system repair disc to see if you can at least get it back to before you installed Ubuntu 10.10.

Ok I have tried all the different fixes out there from removing and re installing the energy management tool to removeing battery and uninstalling hardware then installing battery and doing a fresh hardware install.  Still getting "plugged in and charging" but battery is not charging at all been sitting at 0% since day one.  Brand new machine just got delivered 3 days ago.  Any other suggestions? Have tried to run the energy management tool battery gauge reset, this does nothing, have tried running multiple times and will not charge the battery like it says. thanks in advance for any help.

You might want to go to the lenovo support centre. Looks likes a problem with the battery.

I noticed that my IdeaPad Z575 can't resume from suspend in Ubuntu. I had this problem on my desktop and I thought it was irritating even then, it's much more frustrating on a new laptop. I get a black screen after letting it go on standby, and I have to hard reset it. How do I fix this? Actually, it gets worse, which leads me to believe it might not just be Ubuntu: I can't get the laptop's screen to re-initialize, even with a hard reset, after a failed resume. I have to remove the battery (!) for it to work again. This is what happened twice now; I can't even do a hard reset with the power button, the battery must be removed for it to POST again. Confusing...

Answer:IdeaPad Z575 Suspend/Resume

This is quite annoying and still happens for about 1 out of every 3-4 suspends. It seems to happen if I have anything at all open. If I have no windows open, suspend *usually* works. Oh well, at least it works sometimes. I'll check my error log and see if there's something important there, though I didn't see anything relating to suspend at all last time I checked.

Anyone got any ideas... Rather foolishly I upgraded my z575 to Windows 8 - yes, yes, I KNOW NOW...  After three days struggle I managed to get it working to a level that I could actually use it. However, as a sacrifice I can't use the wireless network in roaming mode as the system will not pick up a network address using DHCP, even at home. Use a static address and it connects, no problem, DHCP nothing. Before anyone replies citing the router/PC settings let me explain that all the other systems in the house with wireless (smart phones, Kindle Fire, and other laptops) work just fine; plus the z575 worked before the upgrade, and the ipconfig release/renew have no effect.  So it isn't the router.

I bought a new Ideapad z575 laptop about a month ago.  Everything seemed fine at home (because I used it plugged in to my network), but when I went traveling, I found the wireless was unable to connect.  I have subsequently tried it on a number of networks, and in none of the cases is it able to connect.  I've searched for past discussions of wireless connection issues, and tried all the usual steps (updating drivers, making sure lenovo energy management is installed, making sure wireless is enabled).  My computer is able to detect wireless networks, so it is not completely without wireless function, but it can't connect to any of them.  Any suggestions?

I have a Lenovo Ideapad z575 with an AMD A-Series APU, and also a discrete video card which I can run in Crossfire if I so choose.

I have been having problems with it randomly restarting without any error in even viewer, no blue screen, nothing. It seems to have begun doing this when I tried upgrading the memory by swapping the 2gb stick for a 4gb (8gb total), and it does not seem to be overheating. It will do it playing youtube videos, gaming, and also just sitting idle in chrome.

I have noticed that according to CPU-Z my memory is currently running with very low timings compared to their specifications, and I don't know why. I have tried switching slots, switching sticks, removing sticks, etc, and it does not change this. I have no option in the BIOS to change memory timings, and am wondering if it has something to to with the integrated video processor on the APU.

Any help would be great!

Also, it should be noted that I don't have the 2gb stick anymore to try putting it back to stock.

Answer:Ideapad z575 Random Restart

Actually it looks like using Slot #1 allows it to run at the correct timings. Why would Slot #2 force both banks to use the wrong (faster) timings?

And now for some reason it looks like I can add the second slot and have correct timings... how strange. It is still restarting when playing flash video.

Hi everyone,I have a little (for me it's huge), but very annoying problem with my display. Surfaces that have to be absolutely homogeneous are noisy, like a Photoshop noise effect. The black, white and very light colors are nice, but dark grays are very noisy and grainy (and other darker colors, as well, but the grays are the most noticeable). This noise pattern has fix position, if I'm moving the browser window, or the picture, it doesn't move. It's like every pixel has a different kind of tone or has different light intensity. Here's a pic of this to show: http://tinypic.com/r/335ef41/5 In the white borders, the surfaces have real noise effect by Photoshop editing, but the other grays are homogeneous - but not for me. I see the every surfaces (except for black) almost like the rectangles in the borders. Is this a driver problem (by the way I updated everything), or the LCD display has hardware problem? The LCD was replaced once due to subpixel and dead pixel problem. Is there a way that I've got another broken LCD (this has also two dead pixels). Thanks in advance. (And sorry for my bad English.)

Answer:Noisy screen - IdeaPad Z575

I have read a lot of comments and replies in this topic: http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-and-Z-series/Widespread-Y560-Display-Problem/td-p/238949/pa... and here: http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-and-Z-series/New-discussion-Y560-display-issues/td-p/311130..., but I cannot find the solution. Is the problem that the display is only a 6-bit display (mine is LG Philips LP156WH4-TLA1)? This is very weak in such a strong notebook like this. Please, someone who knows the problem exactly, reply me some clever and helpful things! Thank you.

Hi, I recently bought the Z575 w/the A4 APU - love the design and layout of this laptop for the price.  While I'm quite satisfied with the performance for the time being, I was wondering if it was possible to swap the APU to a A6 or A8 in the future?  If it is possible, where would I find the mobile APUs?  I don't think they're available in stores and I couldn't find any info on this topic anywhere...

Answer:IdeaPad Z575 A4-3300M APU/CPU Upgrade

Well, Lenovo sells the Z575 right now with"Up to AMD A6 Quad-Core" according to the web site.Should be possible, unless there is some basicdifference between the mainboard used for the different models. And bios updates in the future may add support for others. The line of "APUs" being quite new, I suppose it will takesome time to be available to us regular folks.

Today I bought myself a Belkin Surf N300 wireless USB adaptor. I installed the product with no problems and when I look at the properties it says that the device is working properly, but when I click on the wireless connection icon in the bottom right corner, it doesn't show up.If I run diagnostics on the device, I get the messages that the device is experiencing some problems and maybe this is to do with the driver. I have checked and downloaded the latest drivers from the belkin website and still the same problem.I then tried installing it on my mum's laptop (can't remember the make) and had no problems at all. I can turn off the internal adaptor on her machine and still see wireless networks. Anyone got any ideas about this. ThanksI shall also add, I have used several mobile broadband adaptors (vodafone, orange) in europe with no problems and have also used a motorola razr as a modem with no problems.

If you're getting an error "Windows was unable to connect" everytime you try to connect to your WiFi Network, try to:

2. Check your modem/router for WMM (Wireless MultiMedia) and disable it. If you have a Netgear router, check this article.

Hello there, We recently purchased a Z575. When we first got it, it had a lot of factory-default software on it and we used Skype with the built-in webcam with no problems. Then my nephew did a "tune up", and ended up also uninstalling a lot of the factory and Lenovo software and uninstalling the webcam, without knowing we used Skype! After reinstalling the driver, Skype, and a lot of other things, we now have a serious problem: whenever we activate the built-in webcam to try to display an image from it, the computer will freeze / lock-up. And it doesn't seem to matter what program we use: Skype, YouCam, or any other third party software. If it tries to use the webcam, the computer locks up and has to be hard-booted using the power button. The confusing thing is that everything worked fine before the drivers and software got uninstalled! Event logs don't give any indications on what is going wrong; there are no hardware errors; device manager says everything is "working properly", and I've tried a variety of genertic, default and special drivers for the webcam - nothing seems to make it work. I'm fairly computer literate, and I have to say I'm stumped. Can anyone help? We don't have an external webcam to test, in case you're wondering.

I am having trouble with a previously correctly-functioning HDMI output on my laptop.  I have had no issues with this particular connection in the past, and recently have not been able to identify an external display with connection to this port.  I have tried both a monitor and my TV, and even purchased a new cable, in case the other had been damaged, with no change in result.  It is as if nothing is connected at all.  I have been able to connect using a VGA connection, but this is not practical due to not having these cables at every external display I use. Thanks for your help.

Answer:Display Connection Errors Ideapad Z575

hi mlschaus,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

If you have the integrated AMD Radeon HD Graphics, can you try to update your graphcis card driver:

AMD Graphics Driver             AMD Graphics Driver
Windows 7 32bit & 64bit        Windows 8 32bit & 64bit
IN1VDO81WW5.exe              0dvx02w8.exe176MB                                 172MB

If this doesn't work and there was no updates that got installed on your PC prior to the problem, you may want to install Ubuntu via Wubi to isolate if it's Windows that's causing the problem. If the issue persists on a different OS, there's a big possibility that the HDMi port is faulty and you may need to contact lenovo for service
.

Hope this helps

Hi all,So I was troubleshooting a program and somehow decided to unistall my graphics drivers. Completely. Before I go further let me tell you about my system I've got a ideapad z575 from newegg with an a6-3420M APU. The one display adapter that I do know that I have is an AMD Radeon HD 6520G So, before I uninstalled the display drivers I noticed there were two of them, the 6520G and another one that I can't remember, I think it may have also started with 6xxx but I'm not sure. Anyways, after I uninstalled the drivers I downloaded the drivers from the amd site and then also from the lenovo site for my style of ideapad. I ran the catalyst install suite and selected everything possible to install but after I restarted I only noticed the 6520G driver was back. The other driver was now a "standard VGA graphics Adapter" and neither driver was working(both had problems and yellow flags). I repeated the process a couple times with different versions of the driver install files and now I've arrived at a working Radeon 6520G adapter and a "standard VGA Graphics Adapter". The standard adapter is flagged with code 10(will not start). Basically, what is the other driver I need? Like I said I think it was 6 something but its not being installed alongside the 6520G and my system is not working completely correctly without it. Please advise and I can quickly reply with more details if you think you have an idea. Thanks so much.V

Answer:ideapad z575 missing display adapter

SO I may have solved my own problem. For anyone else who has this issue, completely rolling back all drivers, uninstalling all AMD drivers, purging the registry and then reinstalling the driver software from lenovo has restored the drivers. The other driver was the AMD radeon 6650M.

I have an IdeaPad Z575. When I used Windows 7 I did not run into any issues with the (Chrome) browser going back a page while I was in the middle of typing. Since the upgrade to Windows 10, this issue occurs quite often.

I do not see the back keys that I have seen on some of the Thinkpads. Any idea what is causing this? I am figuring it is a combination of keys, but I have been unable to figure out which keys and/or touch pad combo is causing it.

I've attached a photo of the keyboard for anyone unfamiliar with the layout. The left and right mouse buttons aren't in the photo but are below the touch pad.

Thanks!
Drew

How to do this w/ an Intel 6235N?  I think that the answer lies with 'Modifying the Whitelist'. How does one do this?  I know nothing about doing this, but need to upgrade my Wifi so that I have better WiFi Reception AND Bluetooth.  So, I probably need to brush up on how to do this - YouTube Tutorial, maybe? that will provide better WifI AND BT, then I am all ears. And, respectfully:  If you are going to tell me that I can't do this, or that it is not worth doing, then please don't reply.  Best Regards.

I'm having difficulty regisitering my laptop for the base warranty.  When I go to this website:  http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/Member/member.aspx There is no way I can choose United States of America as my country.  Is there an alternate website I should be visiting?  Also tried calling Lenovo support, but their phone systems are down until Monday.  Any help would be appreciated.

You're right.  I just tried to register my Z575, but the drop-down list doesn't show the U.S.  Odd.  So I tried to register without an entry in that field, but that doesn't work; the field requires an input.

Hey everyone.. My brand new IdeaPad Z575 is having issues with the wireless. I first opened it up when I got home.. and tried to connect to my router (which is very new from At&t)  2 wire gateway. It refused to connect.. Thus, I went upstairs and plugged it in with a wired connection. Worked perfect. I then unplugged the wired and the wireless suddenly worked. I put the laptop to sleep, brought it downstairs.. and the laptops wireless didn't work again. It is beyond frustrating. The wireless is only working if IM sitting next to the router, upstairs. Which is what IM doing right now. I also took it to my cousins house to see if it would work there.. And it refused to connect until I plugged it in.. But when I put it to sleep it did the same thing.. kicked me right off. I have never had this problem before on a laptop.. and it truly makes no sense. It just keeps telling me that it cannot connect. Its brand new..  and not cheap.. so if there's anything I can do.. any settings I can change to fix this... PLEASE let me know!

Hello, I just opened my package from newegg.com, fired up the Z575 and I was unable to connect to to the internet via wifi, at ALL. I know it is not my router because my household has been using it very smoothly for the past few years. I've tried it at other free wifi joints and nothing. It says connecting with the loading bar and then, "Windows was unable to connect to _____" pops up. Have not connected one out of several, several attempts. I looked for the drivers on Ralink's website, and for whatever reason, their product is not even listed on their website! I found some drivers for it via HP, so I reinstalled the wireless network card's drivers and still no luck. Yes, the hardware switch is on and it's on when I press Fn/F5.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you.

I recently got an N capable router, and have had connectivity issues ever since.  Never had problem with G.  The new N network uses WPA2 security, but Windows 7 seems to recognize it as WEP.  Entering the passkey results in an error, and I'm thinking this is because of the security type. I downloaded the latest wifi card driver directly from ralinktech.com, but that doesn't seem to have helped.  Curious if anybody has encountered this before.

Answer:Wireless connectivity issues with IdeaPad Z575 on N network

I know the Z575 and Win 7 are able to use WPA2 w/out problems on a G-router but I haven't tried it on an N-router yet. Maybe it's the router?

Our Ideapad z575 suddenly died yesterday . We were just scrolling trough social media and the screen just went black, all the front leds are on. And the only way to turn it off is take out the battery. (pressing power 8 seconds doesn't work.) it now powers to a dead state where all the leds are on. The fan kicks in. And then the fan goes faster after like 1 min. And it just stays like that. Only way to turn off is take out battery.. So far we tried:take out battery and power line and press power button for more than 30 seconds.Turn it on without battery using only AC adapter.Turn it on using only battery with no AC adapter.Same result on all times. Has anyone seen anything similar we would really like to fix this avoiding going to the retailer (as it is more than 5 hours travel to get there.) thanks in advance!. R M.

Answer:Ideapad Z575 Long Life Battery - 9Cell? 12 Cell?

hi archlab7,

Upon checking  the lenovo spare parts website (http://www.lenovospareparts.com) and other battery merchants via google search, they don't seem to carry the 9cell / 12cell high capacity battery for the Lenovo Z575. This is most likely due to the fact that although higher battery cells will fit and be 100% compatible, they are much larger in size and the battery may lift or stick out at the back of the laptop as the battery compartment is designed only for a 6-cell 4400mAh.

Best regards,

OK I managed to get the driver to work!!! I completely wiped out the old drivers, driver sweeped, turned off wifi, then installed the old Lenovo driver, then the new Lenovo driver, in the same session (w/out rebooting). For some reason, this worked and I am now able to keep the power saving features of the Lenovo W7 driver while getting the performance benefits of the Lenovo/AMD W8 driver. Hope this is a help to anyone looking to upgrade their drivers, the performance difference is well worth it.

Hi Guys, As you probably know, VGA driver for this notebook is a little outdated. I've got a problem with Rage. It keeps crashing after a few minutes of play. I assume that it also runs with the integrated GPU only, becouse there are any differences in performance between "High Performance" and "Power Saving" modes in ATI drivers. So I decided to install the newest Catalyst 12.6 beta which has full support for mobile and swichable graphics. Alfer doing that, Rage finallny works like a charm - no crashes and big performance inprovement, but the OS started to freeze, and crash. Also other games started to work worse. On official Catalyst 12.4 form AMD site is the same as on 12.6 beta. And the most strange thing is that my friend has the Asus notebook with the same CPU and GPU specs, and he hasn't got any problems using the newest drivers form AMD site. If you have any sugestions how to solve that, or what's happening, please help me

the touch pad on my laptop keeps becoming un responsive after an undetermined amount of time, making the laptop unusable a restart usually fixes the issue temporarily but then the same thing happens again, sometimes it only registers an input on the far right (the scroll area).  I have tried uninstalling the synaptics driver are reinstalling from the lenovo website and tried using a generic driver from the synaptics website, none of these have fixed the issue, i have had the laptop for about 2 months so its still under waranty, i notice that others are reporting very similar errors, if it cant be fixed surely the decent thing for lenovo to do is refund as its obviously a common error, other than that my laptop works fine but if you cant control the mouse it makes it a mute point, I am very disatisfied because this laptop is less than 2 months old i dont expect this sort of crap from a brand new laptop that i paid £400 for!!

Hello, I'm having issues with my Lenovo z575 (Windows 10) and its wireless adapter: Ralink RT3090 802.11nMy computer can run ethernet, but I cannot detect any wireless networks and claims that "no networks are available" despite the fact that I have 3 other devices that can connect to my home wifi.I've tried updating my Ralink drivers, but I don't think they're doing anything.Ralink doesn't show up in my Network Adapters tab in Device Manager, even with hidden view on.A wireless adapter doesn't show up in my "Network Connections" despite the fact that my ethernet, bluetooth, and VPN networks do (bluetooth and VPN are disabled)I've tried a lot of the conventional solutions to no avail, and I'm pretty sure this is an issue with hardware or at least my Ralink wireless adapter is being disabled (I'm running my laptop on high performance, but I can't directly edit the wireless adapter since it doesn't show up in the Device Manager)I've system restored to a date before I was encountering problems with my wifi, but nothing changed.I've open my laptop up and the wireless adapter seems just fine, doesn't look damaged, tampered with, or "out of place"Any advice, tips or solutions? It would be much appreciated.

Answer:Lenovo z575 Wireless issues

[email protected] If as already reinstalled the driver for the network card and still the same it is not activated, it is very likely that failure as your good indicate though, you do not see a physical damage on the card is left to operate, is a hardware problem, because if it were properly it does reinstalling the driver. Technical Service Lenovo:https://support.lenovo.com/es/es/documents/ht100529 Regards.

Hi, I purchased a lenovo z575 back in February, and I've noticed that when I go into power management options in windows 7 and adjust the advanced settings of the power plan, there is an option under the ati video card section with the options of "Maximize Performance" and "Maximize For Battery Life" for both the plugged in state and running on battery state of the laptop. It's been set at "Maximize Battery Life" for both while on battery and while plugged in. I changed it to maximum performance for when it's plugged in and saw a HUGE boost in graphics response in various games that I play, LOTRO, Civilization 5, however, I also noted that the heat the laptop was generating went up considerably as well. My temps for the CPU and GPU were pushing 85 degrees Celsius while gaming. This was with the "efficient thermal cooling" option enabled via the lenovo thermal management program, and using a small laptop cooler I picked up at the local wal-mart. Normally my temps have been running around 45C at idle and 67C while gaming, with the power management settings set to "Maximize Battery Life"  but I'd really like to run with maximum performance enabled and not fry up the laptop. Any suggestions? I've been looking at different laptop coolers, but there are so many to choose from I'm not sure which to get. I would love to hear what people here are using to keep their Z575's crisp& cool.  Thanks!

Hello, After several hours of searching, nothing I have found on this topic pertains to my problem and/or no other solution has worked. I own a Z575 laptop that's approximately 3 years old. There have been three issues with the laptop that are increasing in severity. First, about two months ago, the keyboard and mouse pad on the laptop stopped working after the laptop had been powered on for longer than 5 or 10 minutes. This was an easy enough fix as I had an extra keyboard and mouse that I could just plug into the USB ports. These worked well enough, but the problem was still annoying. Second, about a month ago, after the laptop had been on for about 15 or 20 minutes, sometimes it would completely freeze and I would have to do a hard reset to continue to use the laptop. Additionally, after hard resetting, it would take two or three tries before I could get the Windows screen and the computer would fully start up. Third, about a week ago, the computer has become totally unresponsive when trying to start it up. Actually, it's not been fully unresponsive. When I hit the power button, the lights on the series of buttons on the top-right of the keyboard (hibernate, volume up and down, etc.) will light up and that's it. After a couple of minutes, the fan will kick on. However, nothing comes up on the screen. I've tried hooking the laptop up to an external monitor, which shows nothing (no signal). Additionally, I've tried the hard reset thing where you... Read more

I have had the laptop for just over a year (no warranty) and run it with no problems then suddenly, bam!So I turn on my laptop the other day, the only recent event was installing some HP printer drivers. I login to find that my wireless isn't working, some desktop features had changed and random, rare compete system freezes. After several trouble shooters, restarts etc, I found that the wireless was detected In devices manager and working, about 2/10 times. Every other time it just doesn't appear in the device manager at all.The steps I took at this point on are:1. Check the physical and energy management switches for wifi were on (they were)2. Ran every conceivable virus, malware and root kit scan available (all clean)3. Uninstalled wireless drivers and reinstalled (no effect)4. Updated BIOS (no effect however worth pointing out that I still have the option to enable/disable wireless in BIOS.5. Run a selective startup with just essential services (no change).6. Run memory test, HDD Integrity test (all clear).7. Backed up and restored windows to factory settings (still no wireless).8. Opened back case to ensure power cables connected (they are).9. Scoured the Internet looking for similar problems and resolutions (none that fix my problem or have been resolved)I may have forgotten to mention some steps I've taken so apologies for that if so.
