Solved: How do I get around chassis intrusion detection error?

Question: Solved: How do I get around chassis intrusion detection error?

Motherboard: Asus P5N- MX motherboard; BIOS update 903
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Processor
OS: Windows XP

I was trying to install a new CPU and in the middle of that process, I found I needed to update the BIOS. Again this took some time to do but once it was updated, I saw this message:

"The system intruded, chassis opened, or tempered before. Please check the system."

I looked up the issue and did a series of things to mend it.

Checked the manual. According to it, there is no switch in the BIOS itself, only a physical set of pins which by default have a jumper cap over them to short the detector. Upon checking my MB, I found this jumper cap was missing, so I ordered a batch and replaced it. Problem continued.

Reset CMOS. I turned the PC off, removed the battery, then moved the jumper cap to clear CMOS according to the manual. Waited about a minute to be safe before returning the cap to its original position and putting the battery back in. Problem persists.

Updated BIOS again. I'd previously had issues updating the BIOS only to learn the file was not being detected was all. Once that was settled, it was updated and this new issue appeared. After calling ASUS, the rep suggested the first two options I mentioned as well as checking for an even more recent update to the BIOS. I had the most recent one, but I re-updated it anyway. Problem persists.

Check jumper caps. I thought maybe the cap was not secure enough for the short to be detected, so I checked that. Afterwards, I removed the battery, then reset CMOS again. Turned on the computer. Problem persists.

I'm aware that such an error says in the motherboard's log until the issue's resolved but presently I don't know what else to try and remove this message. Any suggestions?

Hi, I want more info. about this feature :Intrusion Alarm /Chassis Intrusion Detection SwitchHow it work ?How to activate it ?What are the models that support this feature ? Thanks in advance

Answer:Intrusion Alarm / Chassis Intrusion Detection Switch

usually it is a trigger located on the chassis, which gets activated when you open the case. It can be activated in the bios, if you have it on the desktop when you bought the machine. It is a feature that you can order with the new desktop.

Is there any setting on my router's control panel - ie, port settings, that I can examine, for indication of intrusion?

Settings that might have been manipulated by an outside party? No one has access from inside my home. That is known.

Any logged events in the event viewer, which might also indicate intrusion?

I ask, because my ebay account, and the associated google gmail account HAVE been compromised.

Thanks

Question: chassis intrusion

I just tried to boot my new build (asus M4A78T-E motherboard) and I get a fatal chassis intrusion after it goes through most of the boot sequence. I have checker the clrtc jumper and taken out the battery but I still get the same result. This is the second identical motherboard i have tried with the same result. Help!

Answer:chassis intrusion

Greetings, budrusty.

From what I've read, not all AMI BIOS setups have a chassis intrusion disable function, but it's worth a look (assuming you haven't checked already).

Other than that, you might try pulling the jumper again and re-seating it, even try putting the jumper in its alternate position in case it's mislabeled (don't laugh - I've seen it happen).

Also, make sure that all panels on the machine are secure, and that no cables, screws, or standoffs are contacting the motherboard.

hi all,

i just have a question here. my system has been running hot lately. i have a msi neo2 plat. ed. motherboard with a p4 3.2 installed. i am using the original cpu fan with 1 8cm fan in the window, 4 more 8cm fans in the case. my cpu fan starts running like crazy. it runs at about max regardless of system applicaiton. i can only check my temps in bios (i think) and it's running like 55-60C. when i go to bios under the pc health tab, there is something called chassis intrusion. currently i have it disabled, but the other options are enabled and reset. to enable this would it help my cpu fan out a little? or does it have anything at all to do with system cooling. i installed a cooler master cpu fan but found that it ran hotter with the new one, so i installed the old. any suggestions?

Answer:what is chassis intrusion?

chassis intrusion is a utility that the bios can use to tell you someone has opened the case. (intruded into the chassis)

alot of times i office buildings, the administrator will use that to alert them to the fact that someone had opened that pc.

once someone opened the case, a little button would pop out, and the chassis intrusion alert would show during next boot. (and some bios's force the boot to stall untill you go into the bios and reset the intrusion alarm.

if you don't have a fear of someone opening your case, then it's best to leave this feature off.

it isn't at all related to heat.

but, about that heat, which direction are them fans all blowing?

a good test is to run it with the case open, and a fan blowing into it, and see if it still heats up. if it still reports a high temp, then you might check to see if there is thermal paste under the processor. if blowing a fan in the side helps, then you will want to look into adding out-blowing case fans at the top of the tower, usually in the back right under the power supply is the easiest spot to add them.

also, everest is a good tool to use to see your temps. (formerly Aida32) you can get it here: http://www.lavalys.com/products/down...?pid=1&lang=en

and then there is speedfan. speed fan is good at showing temps, and on some motherboards can control the fan speeds, and it shows a temp in the system tray if you want it to. you can find speedfan at: http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php

Hi

I recently came into possession of an intel s5500wb server motherboard. Thought it would do for my home server which has it issues with an old asus board.

It fit in my lian li case without issue apart from the front panel connectors, eventually found a pin map and got that sorted.

I now have it running with windows (s2008) installed. However the processor fan is going at 100% all the time.

I believe this is due to the chassis intrusion connector not being present, therefore the mb assumes all the fans on the chassis have failed, a flat processor fan is the result.

Does anyone know how to disable it?

There is nothing in the bios about fans, i tried using speed-fan, no go, doesn't detect the processor fan. I have also tried unplugging the fan, and although nice and quiet the temperature rocketed even while the computer was idling.

I have located what i believe to be the intrusion detection pin on the front panel connector but a not really sure what to do with it now...

Any help would be great

Thanks

Answer:Disable Chassis Intrusion???

Hi Mark,

I have yet to see a case with the intrusion switch. If no switch then no need for the device being enabled. The switch is to prevent anyone running the Comp with the case open.

It may depend what kind of chassis intrusion detector your system has - perhaps you disturbed a cable?I think if you go into the BIOS you will find a setting to disable chassis intrusion, anyway.

Afternoon all,
I'm trying to repair a box at a school I work at by changing the case after the original case was damaged by theft. (really, I'm not the thief!)
I've lovingly installed all the guts into a nice new case and upon bootup recieved the "chassis intursion" error message.
No problem, reboot and hit delete to get to the bios and turn it off thinks I.
Big problem, won't go to bios as detected chassis intrusion.
Manure!!!!!
Reset the bios and that should clear the message.
Nope, still not working.
Stare at the manual from ASUS for far too long trying to work out where the chassis intrusion jumpers are so I can reset them and realise that they are identifying the jumpers for chassis intrusion and for clearing the cmos as exactly the same.
Helpful lovely people at ASUS. Must remember to send them a christmas card when I stop thinking nasty thoughts about them.
Okay. I've checked the old box and found that the chassis intrusion switches all connect to a cable that has a small white plug on the end of it. This plug has two wires coming from it.
This surely is the switch connector.
But where does it go?
My only though is that it goes to the chassis fan point on the mobo and ASUS are using the switches to shut off the fans and trigger the chassis intrusion event.

Ideas please.
However, before replying note.
I have tried entering the bios, I have tried resseting the RTC. I have hunted for the damn connector points that ASUS likes to think ex... Read more

My computer reads under security in system utilities Intrusion alert regarding chassis intrusion has been detected. Security breaches. I don't want to take the actions suggested until I get some advice. Thank you,

Answer:Chassis Intrusion Detected Security alert message

Chassis intrusion simply means that the case has been opened while there is a chassis lock switch connected to the motherboard and enabled. You should be able to go into BIOS and disable the alert. This feature is common on corporate environments as a means of detecting & deterring users messing about ( stealing ram & hard drives), or more seriously, temporarily removing hard drives in order to copy the contents. You haven't said but if this is your home computer I would bet it is an ex-government or corporate unit bought second-hand. Ignore the alert or turn off the thing in bios. You will need the admin password in order to do so.Goin' Fishin' (Some day)

Do not fix anything since most of them listed there are harmless (some are system required). This program will help us determine if there is any spyware/malware on your computer.

Hey all,
Last night I had someone hack into my wireless (home) network. Somehow they were able to break my WPA and get in. I had DHCP set to only hand out the same amount of IP address as i have computers. They were able to figure out my network address and basically started at the bottom of the IP range and started going up because everyone of my computers (4 total) received an IP conflict error, one right after the other and in numerical order. I killed the power to the router and when I restarted it I was completely locked out and it would seem that a bunch of my network setting had been changed as I could not connect to nor ping the router and my modem would not sync up with the router. Needless to say it's go me a little paranoid and I am considering putting an IDS in place. The problem that I am running into is finding one that is not only designed with wireless security in mind but also a) will run on a Windows Xp machine and b) is open source. I will pay for software if I absolutely have to but would honestly prefer not to. If there are any programs (open source or reasonably priced) that meet the following requirements i would greatly appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I am looking for an IDS that tracks an intruders activities in the event of a breach. Thanks.

Answer:Intrusion Detection System

You mean something that recognises a breach and then, instead of blocking the attempt, carefully starts to monitor and log the attacker's activities?

There can be no automated solution for that. You'd need all the breaches and the attackers to act in a predictable (machine-trackable) way and that's just impossible. Besides, an IDS can only monitor stuff that goes through it. So if I can break into a system on your LAN and get an SSH tunnel going, then I can do everything on your LAN through that SSH tunnel without the IDS being able to see anything but encypted packets.

Maybe you are interested in so-called honepots or honeynets instead?

If so, would spyshelter free be a good complement?

Answer:Bitdefender 2016 Intrusion Detection x64

It's kinda weird, I've heard from several people on Malwaretips even on max settings it doesn't work, so why implement it? Spyshelter is very good, not too sure whether it can replace (or is) a full HIP's i.e., Comodo. Very good question, the AV industry needs to answer and see if they can come together to better secure a 64 bit OS.

Hey guys, quick question for you. I work for a Bank, and obviously intrusion detection is important for us. Currently, we use in-house software to monitor stuff and watch for incoming attacks. However, we've recently decided to out-source this to an external company, in the USA, not outsourced to india or something.

Has anyone here done Intrusion Detection through some of these companies? Are there any you would recommend? Anyone you would recommend against? Good stories or bad? Worth it? Any other comments, etc?

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Intrusion Detection -- In house or Outsourced?

Internet Security Systems has some pretty decent stuff, they are not cheap, but they have some of the best IDS systems I've seen. If you are looking for a completely managed system they have a Managed Systems Services, or something along those lines that will manage the entire IDS system and let you know of any attacks you need to be aware of.

Hi all,

With all the news surrounding corporate hacking on the rise I wanted to ask the question. For a home based user. Cable modem to router to pc's connected. What tools are available to detect a network intrusion for the home user? Are there also any good places to learn how to track and trace the intrusion back to the source? Was wondering how the enforcement community can track and trace the hacktivist groups back to thier source.

Thanks!

Answer:Network security and intrusion detection

You could build your own pfSense router and the use the Snort Package. You could also just simply setup your own stand alone IDS on your home network. This would involve building a new computer and installing something like Snort. To make things easy I would look into instasnorby. http://snorby.org/ You could also install snort or some kind of IDS running inside a virtual machine on a current computer. To run your own IDS you will also need to have a managed switch that supports a span/mirror port to direct all network traffic to the IDS.

Answer:Intrusion detection systems for networks...

Snort is used quite a bit in the security world. As far as I have seen there is no industry "standard" for IPS/IDS systems. There are compliance and minimum certifications that are used to test network devices against for security compliances. The US Federal government has a variety of these certifications such as FIPS, JTIC, etc.

IPS/IDS systems are very complex and if you don't know what you're doing can easily cause more issues on a network than it solves. For these systems to work properly, sensors would need to be deployed at various points on your network. Each of these sensors would need to process the network traffic flowing through it which creates a huge performance impact. To run an IDS system at 1 Gig requires some substantial horsepower without causing dropped frames or slowness on the network. With many enterprises moving to 10 Gig, the ante has been increased.

Companies such as Cisco, Juniper, Sonicwall, and SourceFire produce IDS/IPS systems. I would contact one of these vendors to provide you a briefing on their solutions and how it can be implemented on your network. These companies can also provide installation/implementation services along with training. I highly suggest you take advantage of these services.

Hi,

You have some spyware there mate.

Download Ad-Aware. Update it, boot to safe mode (Hit F8 Before Windows loads.) and run Ad-Aware.

You can also use spybot in safe mode to remove the spyware as well.

I would also goto Add/Remove programs after you have done what I said, click remove on the Nortons software. This should give you the repair option. Run that.

Also, have you updated Nortons to the latest version?

Hope this helps.

I can't get the intrusion detection on my 2005 Norton Internet Security to work. I have no other firewall or antivirus running. I have looked up the problem number, but nothing I have tried has worked.

I also can't get any websites to work while internet security is active. I have the settings set as default and have had no luck while they were set on low. I know this is probably a simple problem but I'm all out of ideas.

Please help!!!!!!!

I am looking for Open Source / Low cost Intrusion detection software

I am looking for something that sits after the main firewall, but before the network.

Like, do they make anything that makes a fake network after your firewall but before your network?

Basically, something that reports and alerts, and blocks any ( intrusive activity )
Thanks

I'm having a difficultly try to understand between HIPS, Behavior Blocker, Intrusion Detection System, and zero day protection. So I would appreciate if you guys can answer these questions below for me because I have no idea how to answer these with my rookie knowledge. Thanks, user102.

What is the differences between HIPS, Behavior Blocker, Intrusion Detection System, and zero day protection?

What is the pros and cons for each of them?

How does each one of them work when it engage unknown malicious applications?

Which one is strongest and which one is the weakest?

Which one do would you use? And why?

Answer:What is the difference between HIPS, Behavior Blocker, and Intrusion Detection System?

Very basic summary...

HIPS (Classical) monitors a whole range of actions - process creation, changes to file system, writes to registry, etc, etc, etc. What actions are monitored vary from HIPS design to HIPS design - and also there are some limitations on 64-bit systems because of Patch Guard. Classical HIPS requires the greatest amount of user input, knowledge and experience.

Behavior Blocker is different for different vendors. Some are HIPS-based, others are heuristics-based, others it seems are some type of combo.

Behavior Blocker in Emsisoft is really a HIPS that monitors for very specific actions based upon an algorithm - and not heuristics. This is done to greatly minimize the number of alerts - and subsequent user input.

Norton SONAR is an algorithm behavior blocker that evaluates hundreds of file characteristics and actions. It is more akin to file "profiling." Once again, the point being to minimize any type of user-based decision making.

Intrusion Detection System monitors network or system activities for malicious activities or policy violations. It is much more prevalent in Enterprise than Home solutions. Bitdefender being a notable exception. Here again the intent being to minimize alerts and automate decision making.

Zero-Day protection. There is no such thing. It is called this, but in reality is one or a combo of the above - or something completely different - cleverly marketed.

None of the above have a clear advantage over the ot... Read more

Hiya

Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000
contains the ability to apply application filters to incoming
traffic. Application filters allow ISA Server to analyze a data
stream for a particular application and provide application-
specific processing including inspecting, screening or blocking,
redirecting, or modifying the data as it passes through the
firewall. This mechanism is used to protect against invalid URLs
which may indicate attempted attacks as well as attacks against
internal Domain Name Service (DNS) Servers.

A flaw exists in the ISA Server DNS intrusion detection application
filter, and results because the filter does not properly handle a
specific type of request when scanning incoming DNS requests.

An attacker could exploit the vulnerability by sending a specially
formed request to an ISA Server computer that is publishing a DNS
server, which could then result in a denial of service to the
published DNS server. DNS requests arriving at the ISA Server would
be stopped at the firewall, and not passed through to the internal
DNS server. All other ISA Server functionality would be unaffected

Hey all! Ever since moving to Finland and using my apartment's wifi, I've been getting constant notifications from Vipre's Intrusion detection system that reads:
Vipre has detected a network traffic intrusion attempt.
Remote address: 127.0.0.1
Category: Bad-unknown
Description: Bad traffic loopback traffic
Threat level: medium
Direction: Inbound
URL: http://www.sans.org/y2k/egress.htm
Action: Blocked

I'll get this alert about 3-5 times back to back. Hit "okay," and it'll immediately pop up again. It'll happen about every 25-30 minutes. Does anyone know what this means or is? I went to the website, and it didn't seem to be anything suspicious. Some sort of computer security company. I've run several scans with VIPRE, Roguekiller, and MAlware bytes, but they haven't picked up anything that shouldn't be there.

Even if no one knows the specifics, can someone tell me what loopback traffic even is? I've tried searching on google, but I haven;t really been able to find a specific answer other than it's an intrusion that attempts to redirect you to a black hole

Install Ad-Aware SE and SpyBot Search and Destroy Setup according to the tutorials Do a scan now and get rid of everything they find . Update weekly and scan weekly .

Insatll Spyware Blaster - update weekly --- It does not scan for anything on your computer but prevents Malware/Spyware from being installed

Firewall .-- Your Norton looks like it is a firewall , If this is what you are using make sure XP firewall is disabled

Antivirus program -- have it scan daily and look for updates every 5-7 days

Use all of the above and you should be relatively free from " nasties "

My sister's computer is an HP All-in-One Pavilion 21 with touch screen. Recently, upon reboot, she started getting a message on a black screen:

512-Rear Chassis Fan not detected. Press F1 to boot.

When F1 is pressed, it seems to boot fine. I'm assuming this means that the rear fan has died? I've googled this and it seems that for some people, this is a BIOS glitch, and for some people, its when they've updated hardware of some sort. My sister has not updated anything. The BIOS says its 2013. Should I try updating the BIOS first, or just go for ordering another fan and replacing it? This computer is basically like a desktop laptop....everything is in one case and it's a very slim case. Is this something the average person would even be able to do, or would it have to go to an actual repair place?

Until it's resolved, is there anything that can be done to make sure it does not overheat?

Thanks.

Answer:Rear Chassis Fan Error

You should be able to detect if there is air flow from the vents in the back of the unit using something like a square of toilet paper or similar to see if there is air movement at the vents moving the paper. If there is, it doesn't mean that the fan is at full speed though. When you boot the unit into the bios there should be a section that shows your temps somewhere in there so you can check that. There are also apps you can use after your running (like cpuz or speccy) that will show a lot of info about your system, hardware and fans. If you want to try and replace the fan see if you can find a guide on ifixit dot com. They have guides for a ton of devices and PC's. Just type your manufacturer and model number in the search box or do a search with that info along with the word ifixit for a direct link to a guide. There is a small possibility that the fan is good but is not being detected. Maybe a loose connection inside or a motherboard fault. I would avoid a bios update since a bad one can brick your unit.
here is a tear down for a similar model that may help:
https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/HP+Z1+Teardown/8840
It's not identical I'm sure, but it will give you an idea how to get inside.

A few weeks ago, my computer sounded really quiet when I turned it on, I thought nothing of it. Thinking it had finally started behaving itself, rather than making alot of whirring.

Then about a week or so, when I turned my PC on it made 2 odd beeping noises, and a black display screen popped up, below is everything that appeared on the screen:

512- Rear Chassis Fan. Not detected.

Bus 8 68GB ModusLNK

S I O T CH IP LUN
0 0 A 0 0

Vendor- Modus LNK
Prod- MXJ3073SC680600T

AND then it said press F1 to boot PC

My PC seems to work fine, when I get past all this, minus the bottom fan at the back working- as I have looked to see which one it could be.
I opened up the PC yesterday, and it was extremely dusty, I cleaned all the dust out, and checked to see if everything was properly connected (yes I did ground my self/stop static, and made sure nothing would inside the PC would 'die' in the correct way, and unplug EVERYTHING) after I did this I plugged everything back in and booted the PC, no beeps, and the 'lovely' whirring sound was back and I could see the fan spinning.
I turned on the PC this morning however, and to my annoyance it beeped twice again and told me the rear chassis fan was indeed not connected again, I turned the PC around to look at the back, and the fan is not spinning, again.

I am baffled as to why it is doing this. I bought my PC barely 2 months ago, second hand, refurbished.

Hi Just unwrapped my birthday present today... a brand new, shiny, HP Pavilion HPE-595uk (yay!).  My husband bought it direct from HP, about 3 weeks ago.  It has been unused until today.  (Happy Birthday me!) However, on first power up, I got a bios message:- "Error 512 - rear chassis fan not detected, Press F1 to continue" I pressed F1 and the startup continued, Windows 7 Installed, all seems ok... I am talking (typing) to you on the PC right now.  However... if I powercycle the PC, I get the error (Error 512 - rear chassis fan not detected, press F1) every time. Does this mean there is a fault with this PC? Should the rear chassis fan be detected?  Has a cable come loose?  Brand new PC remember... just out the box 2 hours ago.

Answer:Error 512 - rear chassis fan not detected

Thanks for the inforfmation.  I just started my new computer which had the " Error 512 - rear chassis fan not detected" message.  The connector to the rear fan had a bent pin and the connector was just sitting on it.  Nudging the pin with long nose pliers and a small screw driver fixed it and allowed the connector to be plugged in all the way and all is well.  Be sure to remove the power cord from the back before doing this.  I didn't and the on button was hit while removing the side panel.  Since I have a SDD I didn't hear the computer come on - I was lucky not to short something out!

I bought this desktop around two years ago, now. and it has served it's purpose well. However, around 4 months ago, I decided to upgrade the graphics card, since the warranty had ran out anyway, and therefore I had to buy a new case as well, since the one the pc came with was too small for the new graphics card. I installed everything, and it all seemed to work, but when I booted up the pc for the first time after changing the graphics card, the error: "Error 512 - rear chassis fan not detected" Came up. It said press F1 to continue, and so I did. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary, so I just went with it, however, recently this has started to bother me again. I went online and checked how to remove this error, and the best answer I found was enter bios and go to advanced, then disable system fan check. However, in my case, there were basically nothing I could do in bios. There were only a handful of options, and none of them had to do with fans. My currnt bios is AMI 80.46 So my question for all you smart people out there is: How do I fix this? Update bios? I don't really want to buy a new fan or motherboard, since I am saving for a processor upgrade!  Thanks for all and any answers!

I have an HP Touchsmart 610-1150y (Windows 7, 64-bit) all-in-one pc that I purchased in Sept. 2011 and it's been perfect until today. I went to turn it on and got the "rear chassis fan not detected" error, but since it's an all-in-one pc I'm not sure if it even has a rear chassis fan. I opened up the back of the pc and only saw the heatsink fan, but I'm not sure if this is the fan that's giving the error or if there's another fan somewhere that I can't see since it's hidden by the case.  Also, I downloaded and ran both SpeedFan and Open Hardware Monitor and neither show any fans listed.  Not sure where to go from here, any advice would be appreciated.

Hello people,

I installed a new SeaSonic 430W 80+ Bronze S12II-430 in my friends' computer. When I plugged the machine in and touched the chassis, I got zapped. I disconnected everything, looked inside the box, to make sure I had installed the motherboard and connected everything properly (no extra screw-holder thingies in the mobo panel, for instance). It all looked good. I then connected the power cord to the PSU, and leaving the switch off, touched the box with an electric screwdriver (and to verify my findings also with my bear hand....) to find it was live, alright, got zapped again.

Now, if the power switch is off, the PSU shouldn't be giving any power to any components within the computer, right? So, can I safely deduce that the PSU is faulty and return it to the store?

Thanks,
Daniel.

Hello, my name is Jogi. I was sent here by the BSOD team. Two weeks ago, my computer suddenly crashed while I was playing minecraft. Additionally, I was on skype with other players. The BSOD exactly happened when I clicked a link that was posted in the skype chat. Im not sure whether that guy posted a virus as the link was to a youtube video.

Then on from there I did multiple Scans with Norton at first. Nothing popped up. I posted my problem on the BSOD crash forum. They analyzed the data but they did not find a sure cause. I uninstalled Norton, and installed Avast as well as Malewarebytes. A boot time scan with Avast showed no viruses. On the onther hand the Malewarebytes keeps showing 2 trojan.agents in laptop. One is a memory process and a file. svchost.exe

Recently I pinpointed the exact time when my pc crashes. Whenever I try to install the Windows Security Updates, the system crashes. Yesterday while posting a reply on the bsod thread, Avast blocked like 20-25 malicious urls. with the process pointed toscvhost.exe. One of the members of the BSOD team said that a rootkit might have made a logical storage partition. My question is, How do I go about finding out whether a Rootkit Intrusion is the cause of the BSOD error 0x00000050?

P.s. I did use system restore to a point i think 9.23.12 the farthest I could go. Doesnt seem to work. One thing I did notice is that during the update... the system crashes exactly when it attempts to create a restore point. I really... Read more

Hi
In November last year I wanted to try and overclock my CPU through bios.
Couldn't do that!
Tryed doing it through windows but my 550 cpu just wouldn't go any higher than 3480hz without becoming unstable so I tryed to look for any vcore settings in my bios.
None!
So I looked all over the web trying to find a hacked bios for my (OEM) MS-7091 board but with no luck.

I recently bought a new ASUS P5GDC-V board and it booted up fine a couple of times then when I tryed to overclock I miscalculated and set my fsb too high. I thought the c.p.r. function would reset the settings, but it didn't and by mistake I removed the chassis jumper intead of the bios reset.
I replaced the jumper and reset the bios and now it keeps giving me the Chassis Intruded ! message although the jumper is in the right place.
Any help?

Answer:Chassis Intruded ! -I don't have a chassis!

Load up on your motherboard a new bios file, with asus its easy.

hello to all,
I am the proud owner of a new Cooler Master Storm Scout computer chassis.
Unfortunately, I have no idea how to use the LED fan lights! I thought I connected everything. But, the front panel button does nothing for the lights. I am supposed to be able to turn them on and off. The manual is useless. I have searched the internet but to no avail! Please help,
Any questions? Ask!
Regards-

Answer:Solved: Cooler Master Storm Scout Chassis LED Lights?

How many fans have lights? Also how many chords come out of the fans? Because I have a cooler master tower too w/ one blue 120mm LED fan that I plugged in and was perfect.

I'm hoping someone could point me in the right direction for the McAfee problem my boss is experiencing. I've searched the forums already and didn't find anything yet.
I have two laptops that are receiving a "McAfee Intrusion Detection Alert" every few minutes. The alert describes an intrusion type for "Remote COM Activation by Desktop.ini and the only option available is to ignore the alert. My company uses McAfee VirusScan Enterprise + AntiSpyware Enterprise 8.5.0 along with McAfee Intrusion Protection on laptops. Since my IT Team doesn't administrate the McAfee server, I'm not sure what is getting pushed down to our computers. I am more concerned as to why this is happening and what I can do to fix it.

Both laptops are Sony Vaio running Windows XP Pro w/SP2. I do not receive this error when I login, so it might be profile specific (guessing). Since McAfee is detecting a problem with desktop.ini files, I have removed all of them and it still generates the same intrusion alert.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Answer:Solved: McAfee Intrusion Alert

I would suggest contacting your IT support, product manager for McAfee or McAfee support/on-line forums for this.

My guess is the product is not updating correctly. This problem was resolved quite some time ago.

On my Norton Internet Security history there are looong lists of alerts saying things like 'intrusion prevention has been enabled' and 'default block windows file sharing' and 'default block EPMAP'.

Is this something I should be worried about? :S I just got this laptop about two weeks ago and I don't want anything to happen to it!

Please help.

An HDTIP toolbar recently appeared on IE using my laptop (Windows Vista) along with the occasional popup which I never had before. I tried to run SDFIX in safe mode, but for some reason it did not do what I expected -- just a black screen with "Safe Mode" in all four corners.

A copy of my HijackThis log follow. There are a number of different solutions out there but I don't want to make matters worse and would so appreciate one of you experts reviewing this and telling me the next steps to fix.

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Solved: HDTIP toolbar -- how does one rid themselves of this intrusion?

Turns out the HDTIP toolbar is associated with the malware trojan.downloader-zlob. Smitfraud and Combofix did not seem to run on Windows Vista, but after running numerous adware, spyware, virus programs with none finding anything out of the ordinary, SuperAntiSpyware succeeded and found three trojans. It seems to have cleared up the problem.

Hello and thanks for viewing my thread,
I am currently working on my laptop. A few days ago I got an intrusion alert on norton-antivirus and it was blocked so I was relieved and didn't care much. Little did I know that it would try to attack my computer every 3 minutes!
So the intrusion attacked my computer once every 2-3 minutes for 2 days straight, I had run a full virus scan but nothing showed up and the intrusions continued until...
"Windows cannot startup
File C:Windows\System32\config\system is missing
press R to repair after inserting widnows CD"
so I repaired my computer and formatted it yet the minute I was done the intrusions attacked once more and sooner or later, it destroyed my windows once more.
Will you please help me stop these intrusions? I think it has something to do with P2P software due to open ports so if you have any information please share it, and one day when you need help someone will help you
thanks!
(Not working computer:Operating system: Windows XP professional service pack 2, Intel hardware)

Answer:Solved: Intrusion Alerts, I formatted twice but won't stop!

It would help if we know the full story: http://icrontic.com/forum/search.php?searchid=904811

So you downloaded something with Utorrent that deleted C:Windows\System32\config\system. I am guessing you only did a repair install and still have malware on your computer. You need to do a full reinstall and don't use P2P anymore.

When I try to boot my W520, I get a BIOS boot up error : "2100: Detection Error on HDD0 (Main HDD)". I am using PNY XLR8 240GB SSD. It worked fine for a month. I also have PGP installed and whole disc encrypted. I installed an update of Intel Management Engine Firmware and Intel Chipset, both are the latest from lenovo site because I was experiencing expreme slowness from my harddrive. Programs would freeze. Webpages would take forever to load..The next time I rebooted, I got the error. If I leave the SSD out for a bit, and put the SSD back in, the disk will work for some time... but on next reboot, it is again detection error.. TRIM is enabled on my system. I am not sure how the SSD died so quickly. I am back to using my HDD but I am not happy. I want a solution... is this a intel chipset issue? Intel IMEI issue? Is  the PNY SSD just a bad model? I've googled plenty and dont really see a solution. Sometimes there is a firmware update.. PNY has no firmware updates for my drive.. I don't see anybody else using PNY on their W520, but plenty of people are experiencing Error 2100 with SSD on their W520.. somethings fishy.. help please! thanks in advance !

Answer:W520: PNY XLR8 240GB SSD with error "2100: Detection Error on HDD0 (Main HDD)"

Hello,
I don't have a ThinkPad W520 or a PNY SSD, but could it be simply that the SSD is coming loose inside the ThinkPad's chassis?  I suppose this could occur if a 7mm high SSD was inserted into a 9.5mm high 2.5" drive bay with a ~2mm spacer to "pad" the unused vertical space.

Answer:Error 2101 Detection error on HDD2 (mini sata) X220

HiIt seems newer drive is needed or its firmware. Chek out SSD manufacturer site for fw update.Since x220 BIOS 1.16 or something like this one, msata SSD error detection has disappeared. Except of rare cases with some Crucial (or Corsair, didn't remember) and Samsung drives. Also do not use OCZ drives.

I've had my T430 for about a year, and other than two Corsair RAM sticks failing my computer has been running smoothly. Last night, my computer suddenly froze up and now it won't recognize my SSD. I'm currently using my stock HDD, but now I can't access any of the data on my SSD. I've tried running the SSD firmware update from the Lenovo site, but it wouldn't show my SSD under the memory devices (I'm not sure if this particular SSD is supported by the firmware update either). I don't think lenovo customer support would help in this situation, since my stock HDD runs fine and I didn't buy the SSD from them, so any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem that I ran into for no reason.  Does anyone have a solution for this?  Luckily I was able to login to safemode once and did my data back up after I could not login to safe mode.  The moment I connect to net work this problem happens.  On a side note I bought this T430S on ebay 3 months back with 16GB Memory, 500GB SSD which was running pretty good.

Hi, I have a month old T440s. It has the original 256GB SSD drive (didn't open\replace anything). After uninstalling some antivirus software win8 had problems booting. To make a long story short, I tried different things to fix the MBR and eventually got to the point of trying to do a full factory restore, which didn't work (it couldn't find the recovery partition). When I boot up now, I get the "2100: Detection Error on HDD0 (Main HDD)" error.Aside from trying to restore using Lenovo CD (shipped to me, will be here in a couple of days), what else cn be done and what caused this ordeal? I don't mind about the data on the SSD, I just really need my laptop functioning ASAP. Thanks for any advise you may have!

Hello! First post on this forum but been browsing for some time. My machine: ThinkPad S430, type-model: 3364-5HG, Win 7 x64, 500 GB HGST HDD. My problem is notably similiar to this one: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht082504.The problem occurs on very irregular basis, at times a couple of times a day but other times it goes weeks between the interrupts. It starts with some sort of short mechanical sound from the HDD, similar to the one when you turn the laptop of by pressing and holding the power button (only do this if I absolutely have to, it feels like choking someone with a pillow). After the sound, the screen freezes for a couple of seconds before the short bluescreen mentioned in the link occurs. The rest is as follows by the link above. Basically the only difference is the HDD brand (HGST in my S430 and Samsung in the link). After reboot (with power button during the automated reboot after bluescreen when the error code occurs), the laptop works fine.  It's getting quite annoying when this happens and also the suspension of not knowing when it will happen next is not good for my heart. What to do? Thanks in advance! Regards,Nicholas

Further, the boot itself has become very slow - shows blank screen until the Thinkpad logo is displayed, followed by which the error message pops up. Thanks in advance for pointers!!! P.S: I looked up in the community for similar errors - only couple found and no solutions.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Thinkpad Edge E530 - i5-3210M -upgraded 8GB RAM - 750 GB, 16GB mSATA HDD Performance Booster

That error is coming from BIOS, it means there is something wrong detecting the mSATA SSD.  It could point to a hardware problem.  It is definitely not a software problem.  I would call the support line in your country, and ask what they recommend about it.

Model: T450sEquiped as:Intel i54+4GB RAM256GB SSD (M.2) Configured as boot disk running Win 7 x64500GB HDD as additional storage Issue:Seemingly at random, approx once every one to two weeks while PC is on and at the desktop but not actively being used (meaning no user is sitting in front of it performing tasks) it will error and crash.  The error is a black screen with the following error: 2101: Detection error on SSD1 (M.2) Press Esc to continue. According to the user Esc does nothing and the only escape is to long press the physical power button until a power down occurs.  On reboot the system comes up without issue.  No user has actually seen the crash take place.   MY QUESTION(S):1st.  Is this most likely an issue with the T450s not being able to reliably boot from the m.2 slot or is this more likely an issue with the SSD installed in the m.2 slot?2nd.  Is this something altogether different?  Any (knowledgeable) advice or info appreciated.

Answer:T450s Thinkpad - ERROR 2101: Detection error on SSD1 (M.2)

It is hard to diagnose without seeing it, but my experience has been that the Gen4 and later CPUs (like yours) support a very low power state that is incompatible with some devices. (that would make it a problem with the card) Make sure you have the latest BIOS and power manager software installed. Look in the device manager and find the M.2 SSD. There should be a power management tab. Turn off the option to allow the system shut the device off to save energy.

I have an issue with a Lenovo X1 Carbon Touch Windows 8. It has a 512GB SSD. (Believe its Samsung)  Earlier today the computer frooze while saying plug in your charger, so I had to hold down the power button to do a forced shutdown. Upon turning it back on I got this error after hanging on the Lenovo logo for a good five minutes. Error: 2100: Detection error on SSD0 (M.2) The SSD is not visible anywhere not in BIOS or anywhere else. I've tried reseating it however it doesn't help. Answer:X1 Carbon - SSD Failure? Error 2100: Detection error on SSD0 (M.2)

Sorry for a 2500 GBP laptop I'd expect better really. This is the SECOND X1 Carbon I've had out of 4 to fail me with the SSD. I've lost all my data (Yes I know I should have backed it up) that I'll never be able to recover. Ultimately I've given up on the brand of Lenovo, my company who supplies exclusively Lenovo hardware to our customers are now switching to Dell as a direct result of the lack of support and poor hardware/firmware design. Just ordered 2X Dell XPS 13's as a replacement for my less than 6 month old Lenovo X1 Carbon, never thought it would come to this but the lack of support, knowledge and consitant hardware failures has left me no choice, I can't operate or do my work on an Lenovo X1 Carbon, fingers crossed the Dell will be better as it cant get any worse than Lenovo. To anyone who has Google'd the error and found this thread some cold facts; According to my resources this error can be caused if the system is not shutdown, BSOD or sudden power loss. If it doesn't resolve itself, there is a good chance it wont. Cycle the computer numrous times, let the battery run flat. Try it a few more times. Reset the BIOS, Update the BIOS. Prevention is better than cure, supposedly updating the SSD Firmware might have prevented this from happening in the first place.Lots of reports that this is an issue with BIOS and Firmware issues that result in an early death. I can confirm this having happened twice to me on different generation and model... Read more

I have downloaded the drivers and included them into the XP install disk. i made an iso file from the boot disk and then added the drivers to the ISO and then burned it back to a disk. And still no luck. I do press F6 but it still goes to expect it from a floppy drive, which the laptop does not have.

the HDD in the system is a sata drive and Sata mode is set to AHCI in the setup utility of the comptuer.

Help!

Try setting the mode from AHCI to IDE in the BIOS, then boot from the Windows CD.

All right, I just built a computer, and whenever I plug the dvd burner into the motherboard, it won't get any power, but when I unplug the IDE cable from it, it gets power just fine. I've tried using a different cable, different CD drive, and unplugging unnecessary things (video card, ram, hard drive, etc.), and same result every time, anyone got any suggestions? Here's what I got:
AMD Athlon 64 3700+
ASUS n-force 4 motherboard A8N5X
1 gig stick ECC PC3200 ram (x2)
250 gig SATA hard drive
Geforce 6800 PCI-E 256 MB vid card
500 W power supply
