Preferred Solution: acer travelmate mouse, keyboard and usb not working

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi

I have a just bought a new Acer Aspire 4810T laptop. It froze a while ago and after turning it off and on again the keyboard and the mouse pad are not working. When starting up the keyboard works when entering the set or using F2 key however after it starts up the keyboard and the mouse pad don't work.

Can someone help me on this?

Thanks

Answer:Acer Laptop keyboard and Mouse not working

hello
reboot your computer and after your bios has done its check, before windows begins to load, press F8 to access the advanced boot options. You can try to boot last known good configuration from there.
See it that helps first

Hi,The keyboard on my Acer Travelmate P-253-E has developed a strange fault. The built in keyboard has gone haywire with some keys producing the symbols they should, others producing no symbols and others producing multiple symbols and others directing one into the control panel. Yet an external keyboard plugged in via the USB port works fine (I'm typing in from this now). Can anyone  please help? Incognito44

Answer:Keyboard gone haywire (Acer Travelmate P-253-E)

If you can blow it out it might help, but you probably need a new keyboard.

I am trying to set up Skype on my Acer TravelMate 7510. I have set up everything, including sound, but cannot get the video function to work. I think it is the drivers on the Acer Omnicam software that is causing the problem and I have worked out that it is a Bison driver provider version 6.32.700.1 I do not know what this all means as I am very much a beginner in system stuff. Can anyone please help me to get the webcam working? Thank you very much - I have Windows Vista.

Hi all,am in need of a little help. We own an Acre Travelmate 2356XM laptop with windows XP. Has been working fine all the way through. Yesterday afternoon however the scroll pad and left/right click buttons stopped working. The laptop powers up fine, no noticeable difference in speed on turning it on. No warning screens to indicate it has found a problem. The keyboard itself works fine, all the functionality is there, all the programmes are untouched and we can still access the internet. The only fault (and it is a very inconvenient one) is that the scroll pad for the cursor and both buttons have ceased, it is as though either a soldered connection has failed isolating that area from the rest of computer or (clutching at straws here) a driver controlling these functions has failed. Have powered down and up several times with same result. There was no advance warning as though it was failing by degrees, Wednesday working fine, Thursday not. Any help gratefully accepted as it is my partner who uses the laptop and I know little about them my area is more desktop oriented, and with laptops being small and fiddly don't really want to approach with a screwdriver unless I know what I'm looking for

ok i have an acer 250 it had no wifi module fitted until i got one and wacked it in with antenna's installed ,i added the driver in xp it was all up and running as far as it could be seen from windows and searched for a nework that it couldnt find , i assumed a antenna problem so tried some different ones , but the same fault remained, i then changed the wireless card for another model of intel wireless added the drivers etc but still the fault remains ! so different antennas , and internal wireless cards but the same fault seems to point me in the direction of a bios or manual switch that is disabling the antenna from picking up networks , anyone any ideas.

just for reference i have checked my sid and many networks can be found by my other laptops just not this one Grrr

Keyboard & Mouse: Acer Desktop

Ever since I would say, the past upgrade for Windows 10, my mom's Acer desktop's keyboard has been really laggy. For example, when I go to wake it from sleep to unlock it, the keyboard's Number lock and Caps lock keys do not want to light up. It seems as if the keyboard doesn't want to respond in a timely manner along with the computer. The same goes for the wireless Logitech mouse.

Keyboard: Toshiba Laptop

The same as I mentioned above goes for the Toshiba Laptop that was originally mine, that I have given to my sister.

Thanks in advance!

After about 1 minute the mouse scroll and keyboard stop working until I left click mouse. Tool bar on browser also greys out but comes back after left click. Video and sound also are choppy. Not sure if this is related. Flash keeps crashing. Any ideas whats wrong? Windows 7 pro. Asus desktop. This occurs on Firefox, Chrome and IE. This seemed to start after Microsoft update and Flash updates

Answer:Mouse scroll and keyboard stop working until left click of mouse

Hello mpmckee,

First run Antivirus, Malware, and Spyware scans. Remove anything the programs find.

Note: if you need some suggestions on which tools to use, let me know.

Afterwards, test functionally of mouse and keyboard.

If no change, run System Restore, choose a Restore point before the issue started.

Again test behavior of mouse and keyboard.

If the issue has been resolved, go ahead and reinstall windows Updates.

I currently have an X60 and have never had a single issue.  However I was recently infected with a Trojan, and after removing it with a reputable program, the keyboard and trackpoint mouse have stopped working. When I get the windows login screen, the trackpoint works fine, but the second I press any key, both keyboard and mouse become totally frozen. I can still use a USB keyboard and mouse with no issue at, but that is the only way. Any ideas as to how I can get them back up and working? Clearly, they (at least the mouse) are not totally fried b/c it works fine before I touch the keyboard. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, JT

I've had my desktop for a few years and never had a problem.  Just recently, it has started showing a Keyboard Error message on a black screen when I boot it up.  The wireless keyboard and mouse do not work, although it appears to boot up correctly.  Since I have a password on my computer, I cannot log in or do anything.  When this happens, I've rebooted 2-3 times, and it the keyboard and mouse will finally start working.  I have moved the toggle to different USB ports and this does not appear to make a difference.  How do I prevent this from happening?

This new computer is an Acer Notebook.  The key board and mouse pad stopped working.  If we plug in a detached keyboard and mouse  it will function, but then it would be like having a desk top, rather than a Laptop.  Has anyone ever heard of this happening?  We sent it back once, and the company ( under warranty replaced the Mother board)  but it happened again and the same way.Now heres the strange thing,  It happen exactly after he down loaded a Sprint wireless card to access the internet.  When it was repaired, he again put the Sprint wireless card , download the program, and when the program said, complete, not restart your computer to take effect,  once we restarted the computer, again the keyboard and mouse pad again does not work.  Does anyone know if Acer is prone to have problems?  I would of never purchased an unknown computer like Acer, but he won this notebook at his High school Graduation party, so we felt blessed......... or were we cursed?  Any ideas?  he's off to college in two weeks, and I dont want to spend another $ 60.00 dollars to ship it to mfg.

Answer:Keyboard and Mouse pad don't function on a Acer Notebook

I can understand your reluctance to spend money of shipping, but that's what warranties are for.  Does Acer not have a repair depot near you that you can take it to?In my experience Acer is usually more reliable than that, is there a possibility that the wireless card is bad, or that the tech didn't know what he was doing and made a mistake?

Recently brought a Acer Aspire M7711 from comet and today i brought a new HP 22" lcd monitor also from comet the model number is W2228H.So have set it all up and then i turned it on and seeing as first time have booted up obviously it asks you to put a few details in for vista anyhow i put batterys in the mouse and keyboard and inserted the supplied dongle and they both have a "connect button" on the bottom (mouse&keypad) so i've tryed pressing that even holding it down but nothing happens i did get a light on the mouse when i first put the batterys in, and same with the keyboard but then it just goes off ?. So i thought maybe if i use a usb keyboard and mouse until i set windows up then maybe it will recognise it but still nothing, so i am still stuck using my usb keyboard and mouse.am not sure what too do could they be faulty or am i missing something ?

Hi everyone - newby here. I have this acer (aspire 5100 series) about 3 yrs old with windows xp. It starts more or less normal but the entire board and mouse are not working. I have tried pressing F2 during start but it will not allow the keyboard to work. I have also tried Fn + F6 and every other key but it simply starts with a browser open and the pointer in the middle of the screen but nothing but the start button works. I have pulled the battery numerous times, it is not fried. I think there is a simple fix to this as I had a guy repair this problem a couple of months ago and he didnt reformat it. I think it may have something to do with a video driver or lack of..Any ideas greatly appreciated.

I have an Acer M5630 desktop, running Vista Home Premium, which came with an Acer cordless mouse (Model MG-0570T) and keyboard (Model KG-0570).

Although the Acer documentation refers to the driver providing task bar icons for low battery power, upper case lock, etc. there were no Acer drivers provided. The machine as delivered is using the standard Microsoft drivers which do not provide taskbar icons. I have contacted Acer and they say they do not provide drivers!

I would really like a battery low indication as the batteries don't seem to last all that long!

I am not sure where to go from here. Is Microsoft Intellipoint the answer? There are lots of downloads for Logitech mouse/keyboard drivers - would they do the job - I guess it depends how compatible the Acer keyboard/mouse combo is with Logitech?

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

The battery tray icon can be had by right clicking the taskbar and selecting properties > then going to the Notification tab > checking the Power box > closing it then rebooting. As far as the rest, I'm not sure.

Answer:Acer Meriton M2RH requires PS2 Keyboard and Mouse Have USB

Probably not until you get it working. But you can get a PS2 keyboard dirt cheap at a local computer shop to have for this type of situation. Once you have a PS2 keyboard you can go into the BIOS and disable the Halt on Keyboard error and enable USB Legacy/Keyboard and jutst use your USB keyboard. You can also try a PS2 to USB adapter but they don't always work with every keyboard.

My son has an Acer 5532, windows 7 home premium laptop. He was using it last week and as he typed on the laptop keyboard it started to type jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj, and he was able to back space only to have it happen again. Shortly thereafter, he lost the ability to use the track pad or the keyboard on the laptop. I had him restart the computer and it was stuck on the boot drive and the a long shrill beep, I then closed the laptop and restart only to have same thing happen. After going online I tried every combination I read about and miraculously was able to get the laptop running, the keyboard and trackpad still do not work, I got around this by using the usb port to use wireless keyboard/mouse combination.

Please remember before you post, I am not super savy on the computer, you maybe have to ask me info, but I might need step by step info to provide it.
Thanks for your help!

Answer:Acer 5532 frozen keyboard/mouse beeping bios?

At first glance I would suspect a failing keyboard,a jammed key or multiple jammed keys, many PC's including desktops make a beeping sound if keys are held depressed while booting and halt the boot process.

Have you disabled your keyboard and mouse in bios somehow or disabled the halt on keyboard and mouse? We really need to know the steps you've performed to get it working,it will offer valuable clues as to the problem. Also neither will work again until they have been re-enabled.

There are a couple of things I would try out of the box, download and burn Linux mint to a disk, load it up and check the functionality of the mouse and keyboard, you will have to re-enable them in bios, leave halt on keyboard disabled for this test so the computer will load.

http://www.linuxmint.com/download.php

This will rule out any software or driver problems.

If your computer won't load at all with the mouse/keyboard enabled you will have to physically disconnect the keyboard from inside the laptop, download your service manual from ACER and follow the disassembly instructions. Removing keyboard is pretty straight forward usually, just a few screws, usually a couple of hidden tabs near the control keys and then un plug it.

Anyway I'm getting a little ahead of myself.

Did you accidently disable the touch pad? Check the keyboard for a key that does this.

Also, you may want to reinstall the driver.

Before this round of trouble I discovered a problem with one of my graphics cards when they were in SLI with Blue screens and other nasty little things occuring when running Windows; I removed my secondary graphics card from the system to see if I could get a more stable OS, which I did.

I decided to test to see if the other graphics card running on it's own would lead to a stable system, however I was getting zeros on the VGA BIOS bootup screen and other problems before I even reached Windows Vista.

I did sucessfully boot into Vista and enter my password (using the keyboard) and move the mouse around, however once I had logged into my profile Vista began asking me if I wanted to install the drivers for the keyboard and mouse, I selected to update from the Internet and when Vista did not find any drivers for either device it disabled them.
Eventually I got both the keyboard and mouse functioning again by reinstalling Intellipoint pro and the Logitech setpoint.

While using the second graphics card I noted some distortions such as zeros appearing on the VGA BIOS screen during boot up, so I decided to switch out the graphics cards again, again this caused Vista to forget about my keyboard and mouse, I am however able to get onto Vista a combination of a cheap usb mouse I had laying around and the Vista on screen keyboard.

The fix I used previously (reinstalling of Intellipoint and Setpoint) has not works,I have also attempted to manually install the drivers through dev... Read more

My Acer V5-471 keyboard is not working at all, some letters didn't work at all. What should I do?

Answer:My Acer V5-471 keyboard is not working at all, som...

I have the same problem with Aspire V3-571: Various keys have stopped working: Home/PgUp/PgDn/Plus&equals/ Numerical 4/Numerical 9/Up arrow. It must be either hardware (keyboard or ribbon cable from it becoming dirty) or the Keyboard Driver.  Acer say to reset the computer to Factory Settings but surely that will not cure hardware faults and means I will lose all my installed programs (even tho these are cloned to an external drive.Any ideas?

Answer:Mouse pad on Acer 5290G has stopped working

Welcome to the Forum

Make sure mouse pad is still turned on.
On the older acer to turn on or off.
FN & F7 turns off the touch pad. Not sure if it is still the same.
http://en.kioskea.net/faq/1902-disable-enable-the-touchpad. This May not be applicable to your computer, but I think that it might be.

Go to search type device manager and make sure that the driver is up to date
make sure thare are no yellow warning markers in the device manger

I have an Inspiron E1505 laptop. I was trying to reinstall drivers for my CD drive that was not working properly. I believe I accidentally uninstalled keyboard and mouse drivers. I remember deleting 'upper and lower filters' from the registery. Now when I turn on my laptop, the desktop appears but the mouse and keyboard will not work. I tried plugging in an USB mouse, I get a message that says new hardware found but the mouse still doesn't work. If I need to download drivers, how will I get them to work if the I can't access the mouse or keyboard? BTW - I can't locate my XP CD. I can use the keyboard in F2 mode but not in safe mode. Thanks in advance, Jay

I am working on a Dell XPS400. When the XP login screen comes up, the keyboard and mouse will not work. They do work with a bootable disk (UBCD).
I have restored the registry to a time when it was working. No luck. Same thing. I have tried safe mode, command prompt and every other option in the boot menu with the same result. Have also tried XP repair. It gets to the part where user input is needed for computer name and no keyboard or mouse. I have run out of ideas. Anybody have any? Thanks

I got a wireless setup keyboard and mouse from A4Tech, plugged them in, keyboard is working fine, but mouse not. I thought it was a mouse problem, so i bought a wired USB mouse....same problem - keyboard is working, mouse not. Interesting that when i plug in a mouse, windows sais Hadrware installed, everything ok. But not ok, mouse not working.

Answer:USB keyboard working, USB mouse not!

I had a similar issue with my Logitech MX3000 keyboard/mouse combo. The receiver has two cables (one for mouse, one of kb) and when they are both plugged in using USB, the mouse won't work. Using a USB to PS2 converter on either cable, and it works fine.

Hi - I have messed up the keyboard and mouse drivers on my Windows 10 installation, so now when I boot up I have no input possibilities. What are my options?
I don't have a "recovery" disk - but I do have a Windows 10 install USB.
I don't have any restore points.
I have tried restarting many times - with and without the keyboard and mouse attached.
How can I "reset" the input drivers?
Thanks.

Answer:keyboard / mouse not working

I found a way to solve this issue, by disconnecting my keyboard and mouse, and connecting a different keyboard and mouse. This seems to have caused Windows to try to find the correct the drivers, and overwrite the incorrect ones I had installed. (Simply moving my old keyboard and mouse to different USB ports did not help).

I have the same thing as Tinyman...no keyboard or mouse by attempting to add safe mode with networking. What is UEFI?
Where do I find this USB viewable option as I am connected by USB?

I went to set up (F2 at boot) > and then searched around for anything that relates to USB and found that USB is enabled and on high speed. Hope that is not it and I am missing something, because I still have no mouse or keyboard.

Keyboard and mouse are the ones that came with the Dell XPS 7100 system.

I'll try different USB ports and report back...didn't make a difference.
What am I missing? (except for my mouse and keyboard...lol)

The keyboard and the mouse has stopped working on one of my computers. I have tried using ones that I know work from my other computers and still nothing. I have also tried to use usb keyboard and mouse. They also do not work. I saw that the keybord and mouse pin connection is part of the motherboard components. That is why I tried the usb. I am just guessing at stuff. Any advice on what the problem may be or what I can try ? Am I correct in thinking that it does not matter wether I use usb or pin connection if something in the board controls those two things ? Thats makes me think that its not just in the pin connection. Ugh I have have been fooling with this all day and it is back to my real job tommorrow so I hope I can resolve this or just give up one or the other. Thanks !!

Any help???

Answer:HELP! Keyboard and Mouse Not Working!

What type of keyboard/mouse have you tried? Have they all bene USB or have you tried a regular PS/2 keyb/mouse?

Next question has to be can you get into the BIOS setup? This normally involves repeatedly hitting either del, F1, F12 or Ctrl-S as soon as your computer is turned on - if it isn't one of those keys then it should be listed somewhere on the POST screen (the first or second screen that comes up when your computer starts - it normally tells you about how mach RAM and what drives are in your computer). If you can get in there, the keyboard is still working, but you're having a driver problem in Windows.

If you either can't get into the BIOS using those keys or can't see what key to use on the startup screen, try overloading the keyboard buffer. As soon as your computer is turned on, hit as many keys on your keyboard as possible. I'm talking about mashing the keys for all you're worth. If it's working, then you should hear the computer's internal speaker start to beep warnings at you. Again, this is a sign your keyboard itself is working but you have driver problems in Windows.

If you've found the keyboard to be working, try starting Windows in Safe Mode - do this by hitting F8 whilst the computer is starting up. If done correctly, you should get a mune saying how you want to start up - you're looking for the Safe Mode option. Let us know if they're working in there.

Hi,I have a dell desktop computer, about four years old, that I just recently started experiencing a problem with.  I few weeks back I bought a new keyboard because the keys on the original keyboard were sticking.  I bought a wireless keyboard and mouse that work by "connecting" to a thing that plugs into a USB port on my computer.  A few days back I experienced a bit of trouble, where the computer would not recognize the mouse or the keyboard.  I restarted the computer a few times, and pressed the "connect" button on the mouse and keyboard and got it to work just fine.  Last night, I experienced the same problem, except this time I can not get the computer to recognize the mouse or keyboard.  I have tried using all of the USB ports on my computer.  I have tried restarting and also completely unplugging the computer from the powersource and then restarting.  Finally, I have tried using the original mouse and keyboard that came with the computer (that still work, but apparently just not with my computer right now). You might also need to know that my computer is password protected, so I can not get to the start menu or anything, because I can't use my keyboard to enter in the password.Any and all help would be much appreciated.  Thank you!

Okay so this is my wifes computer, its an old, Dell dimension 2400.

Okay, so the problem started with the USB drives not working properly... they would not recognize any new hardware, but still recognized things that had already been installed, and would work them just fine.

she tried to use microsofts website to solve the problem, but to use the "fix it for me" option, she had to download and instal the .net framework 2 or higher, so she installed 4 because it was the newest.

after she restarted her computer, her computer no longer recognized her PS/2 keyboard or mouse.

however, on start up, it will recognize the keyboard, because you can hit F2, F8 and F12 to go to the different menus, and use the keyboard just fine.
I have no clue what the problem is... but does anyone have anyide of how to fix it? not much you can do when the keyboard and mouse don't work.

thanks :3

also, any sugestions on how to fix the USB problem after the keyboard/mouse problem would be appreciated ^.^

Answer:PS/2 Keyboard and Mouse not working.

dells are hell for this issue, press delete or watch for the quick flash up on post saying something like press f12 for boot up configurations or bios
anyhow get to bios eventually, look for usb and keyboard support make sure its enabled

after go to dells utility which all dells have usually press f10 on start up to access full range of tools , there are usb port checks available there

if you end up back at square one with no improvmnet, go to device manager start run type devmgmt.msc check no red Xs in there or yellows

if that is ok then possible reinstallation required and/or your mobo is faulty (very common on dells)

Welcome to the forums!Have you tried booting into Safe Mode?  (As the computer boots up, you press the F8 key repeatedly until you get the boot options menu.)  You should get a black screen with white text that is titled "Windows Advanced Options Menu."  Please select Safe Mode and see if you can use the keyboard and mouse in safe mode, and then perhaps re-enable the USB.

Answer:Mouse/Keyboard not working

Did you fiddle with the connectors while under power? PS/2 ports are not hot swappable. Look in Device Manager to see if you have any listings for those devices. Should state in the description if they are PS/2 or not. If present in Device Manager, remove them and reboot.

This morning my wireless mouse stopped working. Well, I hate the wireless mouse, so I bought a new one, that's wired. Just a generic one. I plugged it into one of the USBs in the back and it wouldn't recognize it, so I tried one of the USB's on the monitor and it was working. Then I noticed my keyboard wasn't working. No lights on it at all. I thought maybe there was a problem with the USB ports on my computer. I checked to make sure it was recognizing my external hard drive and it was. So, no problem there. I tried plugging in the keyboard to another USB on the monitor, and then neither my mouse nor my keyboard would work. I restarted the computer, but now I can't log on to windows because my keyboard isn't working! Any thoughts would be appreciated. Please dumb it down a little bit for me though...-Laura

Answer:Mouse and Keyboard not working

First, if you plugged in a mouse or keyboard while the computer was running, it will not recognize it, you must plug them in before starting.Second, for your keyboard especially, but even your mouse, you MUST choose a rear USB port that is DIRECTLY on the motherboard (Not on an expansion card, Not on the front, Not on your monitor, they're good for almost everything else) if you want them available during boot up and in the BIOS settings. If your keyboard works this way again but you still have trouble with your mouse, you might have a conflict with your wireless mouse driver. Go to control panel/add remove programs, and uninstall mouse software, then go to Device Manager and uninstall mouse from there. Restart, and it should reinstall the mouse correctly.

I have dual boot for XP x64 and W10. I tried installing chipset drivers for MSI P35 Platinum and the USB ports stopped working. I tried PS2/USB adapter but not sure if it has ever worked.

I also tried safe mode, debug mode and other possible start up options. Everything works in BIOS and also when I boot W10, but in XP keyboard and mouse are not responding. What options do I have?
I tried searching for PS2 mouse, but could find any in two local stores. Just 20 different USB or wireless mices.

Now I am thinking about ordering PS2 mouse, but if the PS2 ports are not working either, what to do?

Ok, so the obvious question is are you plugging in the front or back of your PC?
Have you tried both (as the back usb are directly off your motherboard where as the front are attached to your case)?
Ooooh, only just realised you didnt state if they ARE usb or ps2 connections, this makes a BIG difference?!?

More or less as the title says.I've already tried every usb port.
Tried a Usb -> PS/2 adapter and that didn't work.
When the computer loads the keyboard seems to work, though when it reaches the password screen it somehow dies..
The mouse seems to work in the password screen and for about 30secs after the comp is loaded..then it dies...
I can now no longer get into my vista boot to change anything (unless there is a way to fix w/o mouse and keyboard)

Is there any possible fixes for this =D?

Answer:Keyboard & Mouse Not Working.

Is this a desktop or laptop? Have you tried safe mode? Is this at home or office? The easiest fix I have found for this type of issue is using remote desktop to the pc and allowing the drivers to install.

I need some help because now i get the windows start screen where it says start windows recovery or start normaly.... I really need some help. This started because i needed to use the windows control panel to boot up with yesterdays settings due to too much messing around with an android emulator called andy. I disabled the norton program, tried to install it, got trough the installation, but when i actovated norton again. The norton program would not activate Sonar protection, after battling with virus scans.i managed go get everything else but the sonar working so i activated the reboot with yesterdays settings alternative... And forgot that i had this issue with usb keyboards and mouse not working on the computer before the logging in part of the os. The tower has only 2 usb 2.0 ports but those wont work either...
I appreciate every inch of help i may get.

I work at a condo and our security system is all run through a server. We have a tower PC connected to it to make changes and for our security screens. It operates with Windows XP.

Today we shut it all down, and relocated the monitor, mouse and keyboard.
When we fired it back up, the mouse and keyboard, both PS/2 interface were not working.

I tried uninstalling the devices, but they do not show up in the device manager, even with "hidden devices" enabled, they still dont show up.

Well, to be fair, the PS/2 mouse worked for a bit. We shut down, switched the PS/2 between mouse and keyboard and restarted with no luck. After a few tires, the mouse failed to work.

Currently I have a backup USB mouse and keyboard, but because of the location of the server, we are running extension cables for the PS/2 devices. (they do not work even if plugged directly to the PC).

I suspect one may have been disconnected while the machine was still on.

Suggestions?

Clicked restart in the start menu but when the computer restarted my USB drives were not working at all. Keyboard, mouse, flash drives don't work. Also, the ethernet cable slot was no longer working. I shut down by holding down the power button, tried safe mode because I can use the keyboard before I've completed startup. Also, the computer auto logs in to the main account, so I can get past the user screen. Safe mode didn't work. I tried other stuff but don't really remember.I had Input Director installed but the ethernet cable slot that it works through doesn't work so I still can't access the messed up computer..Any ideas?

Answer:Mouse and keyboard not working

Upon checking of what type of software you installed, Input Director, controls keyboard, mouse and able to set a master/slave system. Wherein a Master system is able to manipulate, monitor added PC set as slave by entering IP address/es. Which could suspectly be for sudden ethernet card/cable(?) problem. I would try first checking Hardware on Device Manager to see if there are no conflicts or certain marks on USB Controllers. Check on Input Director configuration(Master, Slave) or "disabling". Look onto IP address for ethernet card issue. IF nothing else falls, "uninstalling" the software is the other best thing to identify whether its a hardware(ethernet cable/card) issue and "installing" it after you have done restoring your desired installation.

i updated my mouse & keyboard drivers and then restarted my computer. now none of them works.
They work in BIOS but they don't work in safe mode or windows. so it is impossible for me to roll back my drivers.
I checked and usb ports & mouse and keyboard were enabled in BIOS.
I reset my BIOS by removing the battery & stuff. but it didn't solve my problem.
I unplogged my computer and then plugged it again. didn't solve my problem.
I tried restoring and repairing. (by F8) but it didn't work.
I tried using different keyboard and mouses. but they don't work either.
I tried using PS/2 but it doesn't work either.
PS: when i try to boot, sth comes up as deamon tools update. which is normal & has always been there. but do u think it may be related?!

my keyboard: Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 2013

My mouse: Razer naga Moltencore mouse

my motherboard: AsRock

Answer:Mouse & Keyboard not working

Did you try "system restore" from advanced boot options? Or is F8 not working? What happens if you go back in time, so driver is rollbacked. Mouse and keyboard work in recovery environment?

Please help! I changed my keyboard from the generic ps2 to orteck (which is my brand of keyboard) I prompted windows to go out and check for an updated driver. It was not digitally signitured. I said go for it and when I rebooted I have keybord in dos but not in gui mode. I also lost my ps2 mouse. I am running window 2k and tried last known configuration. I have tried using a serial mouse, I have tried using a serial connection to the keyboard, I have tried using a usb mouse but cannot configure it in windows. Please does anyone know what to do. I have tried connecting to a hub but cannot get into the pc with my laptop because nothing is configured. Will Windows repair work? Is there a way to put different drivers into Dos?
I am out of my mind!!

P.S. I also do not have an erd.

Answer:Keyboard and mouse not working help!!!!

We often forget that a system restore or a last known configuration just might fix the
problem.

How to start your computer by using the Last Known Good Configuration feature
To start your computer by using the Last Known Good Configuration feature, follow these steps:
Start your computer.
When you see the "Please select the operating system to start" message, press the F8 key.
When the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, use the ARROW keys to select Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked), and then press ENTER.
If you are running other operating systems on your computer, use the ARROW keys to select Microsoft Windows XP, and then press ENTER.

Hey everyone,

I've tried a few forums and received no help so I'm hoping I've found my place..

I have a Logitech G11 keyboard and a Logitech G5 mouse. Both are USB. They worked fine up until about 3 weeks ago. Both the mouse and keyboard work perfectly fine during BIOS. I can run the setup commands and all that jazz fine. However, once windows boots (I'm running on Windows 7 Home) neither work. The lights on both aren't on and there is no response.

I've thought about the possibility of it being the USB ports but it is not, the keyboard and mouse work fine in other PCs, it detects my external harddrive when I plug it in, and USB keyboards and mice are equally unresponsive once windows is booted. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

PS, if it is a driver problem, how am I supposed to get new drivers without a working mouse or keyboard? This is an aggravating problem because I've replaced every piece of hardware inside my case in the last 6 months except my video card, and some small problem like this always seems to keep my machine from working at all.
