I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Have a Toshiba Satellite 2435-S255. Installed a mini WiFi card from Broadcom that's 802.11b/g capable. This came out of another laptop of mine and I know it works and it's hardly been used.

I cannot connect to my WiFi router. I'm confident that I have the antenna corrections installed correctly. I have the switch set to on for WiFi on the side of the laptop. I've checked the Device Manager and the Broadcom Network Adapter is listed and shown as working properly. I do have MAC filtering setup on the router but I did get the MAC off of the mini WiFi and have triple check that it was entered correctly into the router. Using a DLink DI-784 which I've had no problems with my other laptop.

Any ideas? Installing this card in my girlfriends Toshiba so I can get her online.

Answer:WiFi problem with Toshiba Satellite

First thing you should do is turn MAC filtering off and any other security measures you have in place, encryption for instance. You should try the card in another laptop if possible. Are you using the utility that came with the card or XP wireless ocnfig utility? What is happening? No AP when you scan from the client? In other words, give some more details about your experirence other than it isn't working.

You didn't mention which WLAN driver you needed to install. Once you figure that out by looking in Device Manager you can get the driver from the page below.

I stil use very old Toshiba A350D. Notebook works fine with Office, internet browsing and other light task.
But last days i notice a problem with wifi connection. Well, the card constantly switches off automatically. I use Intel Wifi ProSET tool and Windows 7 system tools.
Windows 7 indicator shown no avilable connections and ProSET indicator shown wifi disabled and ask for turn on wifi with hardware switcher, when hardware switcher (mechanical slider with LED on front) is in the 'on' position and LED flashes.

When this happens, the wifi card is still detected in the Windows device manager. I reinstalled all drivers, but this didn't fix the problem.
The card can be switched on and off several times per minute, but most often when the card is turned off it is hard to activate it again.

Fn + F8 works well, if WiFi Link works properly himself.

Is there still someone who remembers this model and met with such behavior?

Hi Folks,

A colleague passed me his poorly laptop (the Toshiba C660-18C of the title) as he is unable to connect to the internet after the re-installation of Windows 7 HP 32-bit.

Story so far...

His computer was slow - full of junk and stuff - so he asked me if I had a Win 7 disk for him to start again with a clean install.

I provided him with a disk and the re-installation went without a hitch - except now there aren't any drivers for the Ethernet NIC or WiFi and so he is unable to connect by either wired connection or wireless.

I've had a look and can't figure out what the problem is.

Device manager doesn't give any info - nothing like 'Realtek PCIe EE Family Controller' or 'Realtek RTL8188CE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC' that appear on my wife's Toshiba C660. Also there is no 'Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter' (not sure if that is needed). There is no description at all of the hardware.

I have found from the Toshiba UK website the following drivers and installed them, but still no joy.
The Network Device ID Registry Setting Tool, Realtek Semiconductor Corporation LAN Driver, Toshiba Wireless LAN Indicator and Toshiba Hardware Setup.

I went with the Realtek drivers as the Toshiba website lists these as 32-bit. The NICs may be Atheros but the only drivers I could find for them were 64-bit (will they still work on a 32-bit OS?) - and these were on Toshiba Australia's support site.

Several websites have links for what seem to be the correct drivers - but t... Read more

I have recently installed an Intel 2200 Wireless Card into my Toshiba Satellite 1135-S1552.

The computer recognizes the hardware, and all the software and drivers are working fine.

The problem is when I try to Enable my Radio Switch. I need to be able to press Fn + F2, but on my Satellite the Fn + F2 switch accesses the Battery Mode.

Does anyone know how I can re-map my keyboard, or enable my Radio Switch???

Please help.

Answer:Toshiba Satellite 1135-S1552 WiFi Networking Problem

Perhaps you don't have to press Fn+F2?

On my IBM the radio is controlled by Fn-F4.

And you don't have to use the Fn+x combination anyway. The WiFi connection software can be used to turn on/off the radio. If you don't have any special software then disabling the wireless connection will effectively turn off the radio.

I got an old Toshiba Satellite running Windows Me. It has a Belkin PC PCMCIA/PC card that has worked on my neighbors network with the same computer.

The router says that the laptop is registered with DHCP and the LED on the card also says that the connection is functioning, so does the software. however, I can't ping the router or go on the internet!

One thing that is odd though is that even though I provided the correct WPA-PSK TKIP password and the card supports it, the software says: "Key Absent".

Does anybody have an idea as to what the problem could be?
Appreciate the help,

so i have a toshiba satelite a215 with a atheros wireless card in it. unfortunately they are built in to toshibas. now my problem started happening about three weeks ago. it was having trouble finding the network adapter or any of the wireless networks around me. Keep in mind i am in an appartment complex that most people don't secure their own internet. It started not picking up anything. and so i reset my modem and my wireless router to think that was the problem. it worked for once. and the next time it happend i had just got done installing updates to the computer. after using windows restore i had still got unable to find any wireless points. it is getting more and more annoying and more and more servere. just wondering if anyone could help me. anything would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:toshiba wifi woes. PLEASE HELP

Hi -

Have you updated the driver for the Atheros wifi card? Also go into Device manager and un-install ALL found under the Network branch, then re-boot; Vista will re-install the driver upon boot-up.
START | devmgmt.msc

I want to get a look at the wifi signal strengths and get an ipconfig. Download the attached zip file and extract the batch script file to your desktop. Got to desktop, RIGHT-click on the batch icon and select Run as Administrator.

2 Notepad text files will open; save them and attach to your next post.

We've got a couple of Toshiba laptops (were purchased with the intent of eventually upgrading my router), and both have Wireless N (802.11 b/g/n adapters).

I upgraded my wireless router at home, and these two laptops only connect at 58 Mbps and 72 Mbps.

I have two, work-issued laptops that connect at just below 150 Mbps (IBM ThinkPad) and 290-300 Mbps (Dell) without fail, which eliminates the router as the issue.

I contacted Toshiba, and they can't help over the phone, without an advanced tech (Please pay $99.00. You may need to ship it in where they may hold it for 14 days. If they can't fix it, they'll refund the $99.00) - What a crock.

In my opinion, if they are sold as Wireless N capable, then they should connect at N-speeds right out of the box, without having to involve tech support.

Any suggestions? Is there a software fix? Do I need to open it and pull the card to do anything? I updated the WiFi drivers from Toshiba's site, but they made no difference.

Ever since I've been upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8, my Toshiba Satellite A665's WiFi has been unstable. Not often or frequently, but randomly there will be points where the wireless connection will flicker, briefly lose the network and reconnect,
suddenly go to limited, or just lose the network and I have to do a troubleshoot and repair to fix it.
What exactly is the problem? How can I fix it?

Answer:Windows 8 WiFi Problems with Toshiba

Firstly, please determine the brand of the wireless network adapter in Device Manager.

In the page, you can filter the drivers by selecting Windows 8 and ?Wi-Fi? in ?Refine Search by? drop boxes; and then dowhload and install the correct driver.

Hi, I have a Toshiba laptop (p-750) and a new TP-link TL-WR1043ND router.
The router works fine with my smartphone and Sony PlayStation but my laptop is getting disconnected all the time.

Thanks guys.

Answer:My Toshiba laptop gets disconnected from wifi

how is your laptop connected to the router - wireless or cable
how often are you getting disconnected

we need to see some further information - quite a long post - but some simple tests, just the explanation is long

Is this the only PC that disconnects - do other devices connected work OK - if so how are they connected to the router - wireless or wired

would you post the following tests when the internet is working OK, and then repeat ALL the tests when the internet disconnects.
Make sure you also indicate on the reply which tests are for what condition.

if you are connected by wireless, please include the xirrus screen shots for both conditions - see how below.

Please post back here the make and exact model of the separate modem, the router is a TP-link TL-WR1043ND

Please make a note of the status of the lights on the modem and on the TP-link TL-WR1043ND router when working normally - post that light status here.
Now when the internet disconnects make a note of the status of the lights for the modem and router here again. also note which have changed.

What firewall / security suite or anti-virus do you currently have on the PC - or you have ever had on the PC in the past - any trial ware - like Norton, Mcafee , AVG , Webroot etc

ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine ... Read more

I recently got a Toshiba Satellite pro C50D-A-146, brand new to replace my old laptop. The first day I used it at home everything was fine, connected to my wifi and had good download speeds. However now I've moved back to uni I'm having huge problems, it takes 5 mins to load a google search, streaming video is impossible. Various software frequently tells me I'm 'not connected to the Internet' whereas my laptop is telling me I am and have strong signal. The package we pay for here offers faster speeds than at home and both my housemates can download and*stream things rapidly, it's just my laptop that has this problem, even my smartphone*is quicker.
So far I've tried disabling/uninstalling various software thinking it was an issue*with*that, trying several different browsers, scanning for malware, a system reboot, refreshing the router and resetting it to factory settings.None of this had any effect at all.*
I know it's not the best laptop but I seriously think I should at least be able to use the Internet for basic things :/ any help would be great, thanks. I'm massively frustrated*

My specs are;

Toshiba equium T2080 1.73GHz 2GB RAM.

The machine is my uncle's, and it previously had vista installed, but was running supper slowly, due to years of spyware/adware build up. As they don't have the vista disk, i elected to install xp, as i have a legit copy from a prev machine. When i installed, the wireless chip is not showing up.

The toshiba software to locate your machine type and thus confirm drivers on won't work on the machine, and when i put the serial number into their website, it comes back saying no such product!!

Am i flogging a dead horse, and should i just go out and buy a copy of vista, or is there a driver that will work with xp?

thanks in advance for any help

Answer:toshiba equium wifi missing with xp?

This might help you get the driver.

From what I found on Google, it's probably an Atheros or Realtek wireless controller.

Hi everybody,

I just bought myself a shiny new Toshiba NB520 running Windows 7 starter 32 bit, and am having trouble getting my wireless internet up and running. I can access the wifi from my phone no problem but my laptop seems to think it doesn't exist. When I want to "Set up a new connection or network/connect to the internet" it asks me "How do you want to connect. Now my only option is to "connect using a cable" which is not what I want to do. As far as I know my wifi is turned on. I have set WLAN settings to automatic and started. Is there something I have missed? Also the laptop will not pick up my phones bluetooth. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Toshiba NB520 wifi issues

It would be a good idea to make sure you have the wifi switch on the laptop turned on if there is one. If not it might make use of the "Fn" function keys. FN+F8, and hopefully that is responsive.

Are you able to see any networks looking at the available wireless networks in the task bar?

I have been unable to use my Toshiba Satelite Pro M10 using WiFi in my kitchen. I presumed it was the walls between the Wireless router and the kitchen, however, a friend on mine managed to get a strong signal with his HP laptop.

I then tried a PCMCIA WiFi card in my laptop (assuming the power of the built-in WiFi might be less effective than another card). This card was weaker than the built-in WiFi.

I presume the problem is with the power supplied by the machine (running a Centrino processor). Does anyone have any knowlege on this?

All views/advice highly appreciated.

Hello! About two weeks ago, my friends computer started bugging out with the wifi. It started when she unexpectedly shut down her computer, when she brought it back up, the wifi symbol wasn't up, so she shut down and restarted her computer correctly; the wifi symbol still isn't appearing. It's showing the symbol for hooking a computer up through ethernet cable. I went to wireless on her computer to see if it was toggled off, but "wifi" isn't appearing at all, it's just showing "bluetooth". The Toshiba is a Satellite C855D-S5104. Thanks

Hi, Since upgrading to Windows 10, the wifi on my Toshiba Satellite U920T keeps dropping out on my BT home hub based wifi network. The symptoms are:
- WiFi OK for a few minutes after reboot
- Then shows no Internet available, and then drops.
- After that it may, or may not, reconnect but it only lasts a few minutes.
- It's usually not possible to select another WAP to connect to (possible, but it hangs)
- Seems (not sure though) to be better when I'm right next to the WAP.
- Not all the known to be available WAPs are detected until a reboot is made.
- While I'm having problems with the Tosh, other devices (Win 8, Android) are working fine when connected to the same WAP. (Honestly!)
I have an impression that the wifi adapter is no longer coping with weak or fluctuating wifi signals, but that's an impression only.
So far I have done all these things with no improvement:
- removed the WiFi adapter device, rebooted and let it re-install
- Downloaded the most up to date drivers from Intel (it's a Centrino Wireless N2230 adapter)
- Released and refreshed the IP address
- Tried a command to remove old VPN software (there was not any, as I don't use VPN on this machine)
- I even made sure that the Netgear wifi extender which I use in some parts of the house had the latest firmware and reset that.
Now I have run out of ideas - any thoughts on what I might try next?
All ideas appreciated!
Thanks, Dave

Answer:Why does my wifi keep dropping out on my Toshiba after upgrading to Win10?

None, except that Windows 10 has knocked out my wifi completely, and there's no hope from my computer manufacturer. On HP's site it says that machines purchased before August 2013 but with Windows 10 have to get any software updates from Windows now. The alternative is to go back to your old operating system. Go to hell.

I have Toshiba Satellite P55-a5312 with Windows 8(64 bit) since 2013, then upgraded to 8.1 in 2014. Afterwards I installed Norton antivirus earlier this year and everything was working fine. About 1 week and half ago, I upgraded to Windows 10. Two days ago, my laptop suddenly was disconnected from wifi. When I opened the network and internet window in control panel, the laptop no longer detects the home router but can still detect other routers in the neighborhood. We have multiple devices in the home, i.e. phone, laptops, etc. They all can detect and connect to the home router except for my laptop.

I had tried the following;
Rebooted the laptop
Command prompt ipconfig/release and renew
Disabled/enabled the wireless adapter(Intel N7260)
Uninstalled/installed the wireless adapter(Intel N7260)
Attempted to upgrade driver but there is no driver to update (I haven't yet attempted to find a driver from
the Toshiba website)
Reset the router
Restored to a previous point to the last time the laptop was connected to wifi
Stopped and restarted the WLAN Autoconfig in Task Manager; its set to Automatic

I it possible it might be a security suite issue or driver issue or windows 10?

Answer:My Toshiba laptop stopped connecting to wifi

Uninstall Norton and run Symantec's Removal Tool. You can reinstall it after testing.

Make sure you have the latest wireless driver from Toshiba's web site. If that one does not help try the one directly from Intel's site.

Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the screen shot and attach the screen shot in a reply on the forum here.

Please help. I know very little about computers. Please excuse me if I explain things wrong and use incorrect terminology.

I hadn't used my laptop for a while, and yesterday, it didn't come on when I tried to turn it on. I ended up taking out the battery, then holding down the power button for 30 seconds. The laptop worked fine after that, and I was able to access the Internet. When I went to shut it down, it said that it had updates to install, so I told it to install the updates and shut off when it was done.

When I started it up today, it seemed slow to get to the Toshiba screen. It looked liked it was still installing updates, which I found odd because it had shut itself down yesterday after installing all of them (I thought). I shut it down again after the updates (or whatever that was) had completed, and I was able to access one site very briefly. However, now I can't access the Internet at all. The Internet Explorer page comes up for a few seconds and then closes again to the Toshiba page. When I check my connection, it says that the Wifi is connected. I can't figure out why I can't access the Internet. Please help.

Edited to add that I'm using Windows 8. Also, I just tried to scan with Norton, but the scan won't work.

My friend has a toshiba satellite L645D-S4040. I reinstalled windows 7 on his laptop but when I tried reinstalling the wifi driver it wouldn't work. I tried the realtek, the broadcom, and the atheros, and uninstalled each before I tried a new one. I even rermoved the wifi card and reinserted it, and that did nothing. I reinstalled win7 again and tried all of the above and still nothing happened. What could be wrong here? thanks!

Answer:Toshiba satellite wifi driver wont install?

Is there a hardware button on the laptop to enable the wifi adapter? You may need to press Fn + F8 key combination to enable the wireless adapter.

I didnt know if this should be in the Network or Hardware forum, but i'll try posting here I have a Toshiba satelite C660-11H and since i need bluetooth i swapped the Realtek RTL8188CE wifi adapter for an Intel Centrion 1030. Now i have bluetooth working fine, but i can't get wifi working , drivers installed nicely but i cant switch it on/off using Fn F8, and the intel program that came with the drivers says "Hardware Radio switch is off" I tried swapping back for my old wifi card and then magically wifi shows up in the Fn "Flash Cards", with no drivers installed for that card or anything, but when i use the intel card i have no wifi among the "Flash Cards", the F8 slot for wifi on/off isnt there at all. Is there any way i can force the wifi switch on? i'll even hard wire past it if i have to the latest bios i found for the C660 is 1.8 and thats the one i have installed. Seems other toshibas had problems with the intel cards they were delivered with and that issue was fixed with a bios update to 2.x, I am also curious to know how it detects a wifi card, since the wifi switch appears again if i swap back for my old one, I've noticed the intel card has less pins on the mini pci-e connector. Maybe i could bridge something to trick it?

Answer:Solved: Toshiba Satelite Wifi support issue.

I moved your thread from Networking to Hardware. All I know about installing a different integrated wireless adapter into a laptop is that often it won't even boot with the "foreign" hardware, sometimes works OK, and may give mixed results (as you are getting).

I recently purchased a Toshiba Satellite L875D and it will not connect to my home network. I have use a CenturyLink provided cable 660 Series Modem connected to an Apple Time Capsule router / back up drive. When "connected" to my home network it shoes full bars but is "limited". I have also tried connecting directly to the modem and the router with no luck. My iMac, iPad, all the families iPhones and two other older laptops run perfectly with this set up. Only my new laptop running Windows 8 is having this problem. As a result I can't update to Windows 8.1.

I have limited computer skills (as far as diagnosing and troubleshooting something like this) but any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure why the wireless isn't working on your Toshiba L875D.

Toshiba has a special page to help walk you through the upgrade to Windows 8.1. You should use a wired connection for this.

Hi guys,

Posting this for my brother who's laptop I have at the moment trying to fix his wifi but I'm completely stuck so I thought I'd finally sign up here.

He has a Toshiba Satellite a500-15m on windows vista home edition.

His laptop has suddenly stopped connecting to the internet through wifi at his house but can connect perfectly well through ethernet. It can connect to the wifi itself but constantly just says limited connectivity. So I tried the usual fixes, checked his hardware drivers, removed all wireless networks and tried reconnecting it, and then I even tried a TCP/IP Stack repair but no luck. Oddly enough it connected fine for a few hours the other day but that seemed like an odd blip.

I know the wifi works fine as I'm running my laptop through it fine and have used all of my old windows based laptops through that connection on multiple occasions. There is no firewall turned on the router and the security settings are pretty standard so it must be a connection issue on his laptops end.

Anyway here is the relevant IPConfig from his laptop:

Before I begin, I appologize if this comes off as abrasive. I am trying my best, but am incredibly frustrated. So, I'm sorry in advance if I come across as bitchy, since thats not what I intend.

I have a Toshiba satellite c855d, with a realtek rtl8188ce wifi adapter, came with win 8, wich I updated to 8.1, then 10, then reverted back to 8.1 with a clean install after the bulk of my drivers not cooperating or being available and the computer crashing or hanging something fierce as a result.

I have had challeneges with this computer and wifi, off and on, since it's purchase. From the (exhaustive, albeit amature (I get computers, but am not formally trained, and am less up-to-date on both resources and troubleshooting techniques than I used to be)) research I've done over the last few years, it would seem that this has been due partially to win 8 being high maintenance when it comes to wifi signal, toshiba being lazy and completely lacking in interest or care for consumers of their product, and my model of realtek wifi adapter badically sucking butt.

However, having to reset my adapter every several hours is hardly normal or acceptable in my mind.

And, while I understand that fluctuations in wifi signals can vary drastically, I dont understand why the network I wish to connect to is only visable when my adapter needs to be reset, and disappears once I do so, nor do I understand this newest excitement, in which no less than 10 networks of varying strengths are visi... 'Lo Again,

Was wondering if anyone knows offhand if my 13-year-old Toshiba laptop can "take" a wireless card. If it matters, it's an original Pentium 90 running Win'95. The problem is, I don't even know where to begin to look for an upgrade slot/compartment on a laptop (this is my first one, fresh off Ebay).

Also, can Win95 itself even handle wireless networking? If necessary, I have my own copy of Win98 that I can install; will that work? (Unfortunately, I can't put any form/shape of Linux on this thing, as the particular piece of software I require--ExamSoft--only runs on Windows).

Answer:Can a Toshiba Satellite 205CDS be upgraded to accept a WiFI card?

Do you have any PCMCIA slots in that machine? If yes then what type?

Do you have an ethernet adapter there? If yes then you could get yourself a small access point.

I am trying to figure something out My router is out in the living room, in my bedroom I have 2 different laptops setting side by side, my Toshiba wifi strength says "Fair" and the laptop right next to it says "Excellent" and has full bars. I have been noticing deteriorating performance for a while.

I searched online and saw a post saying if you open and close your laptop a lot (which I do) it can wear out the wifi wire because it goes through the hinge. I have already updated the drivers for the wifi so that's not it.

Has anyone ever heard of this? If it's true it sounds like a hard fix. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I'm a new user of ubuntu on nb100 and I've got a problem when there is no wifi connection:

The Toshiba ubuntu wellcome menu with all choices (games, administration, internet ...) work very quickly when a wifi access is ok and on, and if you are in other case it works very very slowly.

Other cases, it means:
- in ubuntu you stop lan connexions,
- or you are in a place without wifi connexions

if you've already programs loaded these program work normaly, it's only the toshiba ubuntu menu which doesn't work properly. when you swap from one program to Ubuntu menu, sometimes you have a blank screen instead of working well

I hope somebody can help me

this problem occurs when you use the graphical interface ubuntu menu written by toshiba i think, because if you're using the ALT-F1 function, all is going quickly.

Answer:NB100 with Ubuntu - Toshiba wellcome screen very slow when no wifi access

Do you have DHCP enabled? Try using Static IP Addresses instead.

Maybe its attempting to assign an IP Address and timing out after a minute.

We have a Toshiba Z835-P330 (PT224U-001001) laptop with Windows 7 x64 that got its Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000 (112BNHMW) wireless card replaced with an Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 (6235ANHMW) because of wireless connectivity issues (getting dropped from wireless anywhere from 3 to 6 times a day --> required to reboot to get reconnected). We have dozens of other laptops that are similar to this model -- same chassis -- but run Windows 8 and have an Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 that also gives them the same exact wireless connectivity problems. Our solution is to replace the wireless cards with something else.

So far it has been working great, except for this Z835 Windows 7 user we have. I have the latest Intel software for the card downloaded and extracted on the laptop in the Downloads folder. I need to run the installation and after installation it works fine... for a few days... then the laptop somehow magically forgets the drivers and the user has to re-run the installation to get wireless working.

Any ideas? I plan on buying another DIFFERENT wireless card than the Intel 6235, and if the problem continues I will suggest either an upgrade to Windows 8 or laptop replacement altogether.

PS. Toshiba has been full of suck. All the ultra thin silver-colored laptops we have received from them have wireless connectivity problems, dropping users from wireless connectivity 3-6 times a day with no way to reconnect but by doing a full restart. We have trie... Read more

Got a problem I cannot seem to solve. I need to communicate with a wifi router that is not itself directly connected to the computer in order to change its channel to improve overall signal quality for the two Wi-Fi routers I have and deconflict with a neighbor's Wi-Fi. The router I need to adjust is connected to the internet through the cable router. It is not directly connected to the computer - thus the Genie program won't talk to it. If I do wire directly to that wi-fi, the internet connection is lost (no cable port to wire it up, unfortunately) and the Genie program won't let me do anything either. So I need to know how to adjust a Wi-Fi router that is acting merely as a wireless antennae to a different router, rather than a direct connection to the internet.

(Background info to save time)

I have a very long house with a lot of metal in it. The Cable drop for internet is in the basement at one end. The cable router has a built in Wi-Fi serving half the house, to which I have (via a LONG cord) connected a second (NetGear) wifi router. Until recently, these have worked fine for the limited internet surfing we've done. This was necessitated by not having good signal at either end of the house if Wi-Fi was in the middle, or no signal at one end if Wi-Fi was left at one end of the house or the other. Thus, two Wi-Fi's.

However - my son is now of an age he wants to play FPS games on the laptop; meaning he needs good ping. ... Read more

I recently updated my Inspiron 14" 5459 to the Windows 10 anniversary update, i noticed that when my wifi access point changes or wifi signal drops or turning off wifi, my laptop semi-freezes, you could still scroll with the mouse or track pad and select open tabs but that's all, clicking other icons and even the windows start menu does not work, if you wait for more than 5 minutes, everything goes back to normal. Waiting around for about 5 minutes is annoying so what I do is press ctrl alt delete and from there restart the laptop. my wifi adapter is updated to the most recent version and also both graphics card (intel hd 520 and amd radeon m335) is also updated to the latest version.  Any suggestion on how to resolve this issue?

Answer:after Windows 10 anniversary update, Inspiron 5459 freezes if wifi is turned off or wifi access point is changed, is there a solution to this problem?

Please confirm the wireless card from the device manger or the network control panel. Also please update the BIOS firmware to the latest version. The BIOS update should ideally be version v1.2.2. Also please try system out with  a LAN cable as well to confirm if is indeed caused by the wireless. Though this may not run a complete diagnostics on the network you can run a hardware diagnostics on the computer using the following steps

Shutdown the computer
Hold the 'Fn' key and turn on the computer
Let go of the 'Fn' key after 2 seconds

This is will initiate the H/w diagnostics. Please let us know if it completes or if  you run into any errors. If  you do run into any errors.

Hi All,

I have two wifi APs in the home and I have it all set up so that one is the Internet by cell phone tether and the other is the cabled network via the router wifi.

Works just fine - except.

On wifi 1, Internet I have it set for "Connect automatically" which at boot up it does.

On wifi 2, Network I also have it set for "Connect automatically" which at boot up it does NOT do. I have to go in and connect manually even though the "Connect automatically" is checked.

It seems win8 sees "Connect automatically"and does it but then stops checking other connections. Probably a "feature."

Is there some way to force both "Connect automatically" to happen?

Answer:Wifi Auto-Connect to two-wifi APs, problem

There is a group policy setting for this, but even if both are connected you will only be using one of those connections at a time.

I upgraded from 8.1 to 10.0 2-3 weeks ago. Wifi worked fine until a couple of days ago. Now the icon says "Not connected - No connections are available." But there are! I'm sending this from my Windows 8.1 notebook and it says there are 4 wifi's available and all have a strong signal. When I go to "Control Panel > Network & Internet > Network Connections" it shows Wi-Fi as disabled. When I double click on it it goes thru the motions and shows it as Enabling and then "Enabled", but the Wi-Fi area still shows it as "Disabled". It is an "Intel(R) Wireless-N 7260" (whatever that is I don't know as I'm a definite novice and not a techie)! Then I went to "Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Troubleshooting > Network and Internet". When I tried to repair it, the message said "Problems found...There might be a problem with the driver for the Wi-Fi adapter."I have no idea what caused this to stop working or what to do to get our wifi back!

I would uninstall the driver, go out to Intel and get the latest windows 10 compatible driver and install it.

There is a driver for your wireless adapter and it is windows 10 compatible.

Intel site is here :

go to the latest downloads section, click "view all" and download the driver for your card be it either in a 32 bit or 64 bit system.

Question: Toshiba Problem

I got my laptop about a year ago and have had no problems with it. One day I went to turn it on and all of the key board lights would work but no backlight or screen display came on. After a minute or so none of the lights (Capslock or Function) would turn on and most of the compute sounds would stop. I have hooked a monitor up to hit and it also showed nothing. It is a Toshiba Satellite or something like that. Any ideas what is going on?

Question: Toshiba Problem

Hi everyone. I'm having a bit of trouble with this Toshiba. Everytime I try and turn it on, the Windows XP loading screen comes up, then a flash of blue screen comes on for about a second, then the computer shuts down. I've started it up again, trying it on safe mode, trying it on settings that'd worked before it shut down, and nothing works. Can someone tell me how to fix this problem?

Hey guys this is my first post. Here goes: I've had a toshiba satellite laptop for just over a year and recently (the past 6 weeks) the fan has been running really high, most, if not all the time. I'm not running that many applications or anything differently than I have been before the problem started. Also, occasionally, it will just shut off. I took off the fan cover to make sure it wasn't clogged with too much dust and found nothing. I've read other forums here that suggest that the noise is the fan hitting something or the bearing has gone out, but I'm fairly confident that is not the case because it will sometimes run low. Any information on this problem would be appreciated, if not I will be taking it to a service center soon. Thanks.

Hello, my colleague has a Toshiba Satellite M30 laptop, 1.8GHz Centrino processor, 1Gb Ram, XP home, NVidia card.
Since a while he has been experiencing slow speed and sometimes the laptop stops responding and starts responding again after a while. He has installed google gadgets and it shows that sometimes HDD read speed becomes zero. The mouse moves but everything else just hangs. In a few seconds, everything is back to normal. We have done all, clean temp files (CCleaner), Defrag, clean registry. Checked the HDD with various utilities and all showed it to be ok. Downloaded a software called HDD Health and it showed HDD temp as 35 and health as 100%. It showed system temp as 65-70 so we disassembled the laptop to clean the dust on heatsink. There wasn't much and it did not make any difference.
Please advice what else can we do. He thinks fan speed may have become slow, can this happen?

My Toshiba 2595XDVD got rained on ( actually it was condensation from an A/C vent that dripped onto it). The water dripped onto the screen and ran down it. Now the LCD is completely dark, hook it to another monitor and everything works. If you look real close when it is booting up you can see a faint image in the LCD. It looks like most of the water ran down in the area of the inverter. Is this enough info to tell if it is the screen or could it just be the inverter?

I've been having a problem with my laptop for that last 6-8 weeks and it would be brilliant if anyone can suggest a possible cause/cure.

I have a 10 month old toshiba R500 protege (Core 2 Duo processors at 1.7 GHz, Intel GMA graphics, 2 GB ram, 120 GB hard disk drive, Vista)
** it has been useless. I've already had 2 disc drives and a new hard drive.

The problem seems to arise every 2-3 weeks in between bouts of the laptop working fine.

What happens is the cpu will jump to a least 90-100% and stick there for between 2 and 10 minutes. Obviously this slows the whole computer down, but never crashes it.

I have tried to narrow down what is causing it, but this will happen when either itunes. outlook or IE are open, and has happened with them all open, or just one open at a time. This has really left me stuck as to what could be the cause, and other people suggestions of either too many windows open, too much flash, etc havent been much help because of the numerous culprits.

This just happened with itunes open on its own. This seems to be the most common cause of it, especially when playing music or syncing an ipod/iphone. I have all my music on an external drive which could possible been a factor??? who knows?

I managed to note down the below info from the task manager:

Process Window:
Itunes was at 36 in the CPU column with 110.00k in the memory column

Performance Window:
Cpu: 100%
Memory: 1.24 (of 2g of memory)

Answer:Toshiba Problem: CPU @ 100%

disconnect from the Internet and then boot.

look to see if iTunes still goes berzerk or the system is still stable. If stable,
go to iTunes and delete the config info for your iTunes account (add it back later)
and terminate iTunes.

reconnect the Internet and wait to see the results again ...

Answer:LENOVO B590 WIFI Problem - Auto Disconnect + SCREEN FLUCTUATE PROBLEM

hi chetansoni,
Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
Regarding your problems, can you try the following:
1. The Wi-Fi auto disconnect problem that you're getting is most likely a driver issue. May I know what version of the Broadcom driver that you're using?
If the WIndows 8 driver from the B590 drivers page doesn't work, try to install this driver (Windows 7 version).
Broadcom BCM43142 Wireless LAN Driver (802.11b/g/n)
10.6 MB
2. As for the horizontal lines, do you get this when you boot the machine up or tilt the screen to a different angle? If yes, then this is most likely a hardware issue (could be a faulty LCD cable or the LCD itself). To isolate, try connecting an external monitor and observe.
In this case, I recommend you contact lenovo and report the issue as you may need to send the unit for service.

Hi Lenovo For the past 3 days i have been doing some research and observations in order to try to make sense of this wifi issue and maybe someone will come up with a solution. Lets start First of all i assume that when this laptop was being developed some form of testing was done before it was released, so the wifi must have worked well within lenovo offices. Also not everyone is having this issue - some people claim no problems at all, whilst others whathever they try they can't seem to be able to fix it.  Some even send their laptop for repair, other even had it replaced, yet the problem still persisted. So the problem seems to be related to one factor - the router people are using. Some people have a router that works well with this laptop, and so have no issue. Other have a router that is "not compatible" with the wifi card and so no matter how many lenovo yoga 13 machines they have it will still not work. I also noticed in my situation that when i use my android phone or tablet as wifi hotspot i have no issues, yet when i use my home router its a nightmare. Also i noticed that chaging the way how the laptop connects to the router can make a difference; 1, At first i used a fixed IP with alternate configuration - this was horrible (continous disconnection, routers wifi crashing, takes ages to connect)2, Then i used fixed ip in the general configuration - ths was better, yet still problems (yet disconnections were less, yet ... Answer:Lenovo Yoga 13 WIFI Problem - making sense of the problem

I had the same problem.  I came across someon that found a fix.  My Yoga is restoring right now (I tried windows 8.1, it didnt work outwell) so I can't tell you the exact steps but it goes something like this. 1.) right click my computer 2.) click properties3.) Device Manager4.) open properties of WiFi device (under network adapter)5.) Go to Advance6.) there is an option to use use either 20_40w or 20w under one of the energy/power related options in this list.(This is part I can't remember off the top of my head) - Turn to 20w instead of the variable rate.6.) Change the Bandwith option from 20_40w to 20w.5.) OK out till your at your desktop (might require Reboot, I dont remember)  That is how I kept my WiFi from destroying my Wireless networking in my house.  I was rebooting my WiFi network hourly before.

ADMIN EDIT - I believe we have a solution the second symptom and title of the thread contained in the related KB article link above this thread and found in the post marked with the solution.   I've started a new thread and am moving all comments related to Symptom #1 below to the new thread here
I have two problems with my brand new T530. These problems might (?) be related to each other.
OS: Win8.
1. My wifi suddenly turns off several times each day: PC disconnects from network, cannot see any other wifi network but the wifi light is still on. "Troubleshoot problem" solves the problem for a while but later it turns off again. I tried both "Resolving Power Management Scenario 1" and "Resolving Power Management Scenario 2" suggested by lenovo support but these do not solve my problem.
Network adapter: Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6205
Any suggestion?
2. In Device Manager uder Network adapters "WAN Mininiport (Network monitor) #2" has a yellow mark. In the properties there is written: "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)". I tried to update the driver but the device's driver is up to date. I tried to uninstall the driver but it is impossible.
Any suggestion?
Thank you!

Hi guys first post
I recently had a bit of trouble with some spyware / adware that was causing some of the keys to mess up on my laptop keboard and when clicking google results would link me to a slighlty related site to my search selling something or advertising. Also occasionally it seemed the down key would get 'stuck' on so it mas continuoisly scrolling down the page, through menu's, files etc. I ran a few virus scans (Eset, superantispyware, malwarebytes) and deleted 4 pieces of adware.
Anyway the problem with messed up keys and random linking has ceased but occasionally it seemed the down key would get stuck on again. Even when i restart and it says would you like to start windows normally or with recovery console it is scrolling through them

Im currently typing this through a usb keyboard and i have completely disconnected the laptop keyboard from the motherboard.
I've run more virus scans and haven't found anything and the only thing im left thinking is it could be a software/driver issue or the actual keyboard

Can anyone help?

Answer:Toshiba Laptop Problem

Re-connect the laptop's keyboard then go into the Bios Setup, if the down arrow is still 'stuck' the keyboard is probably to blame, if it isn't stuck you may still have some malware or windows itself is messed up.

Let us know.

My Brother lives in Turkey. He has just bought a Toshiba satellite A350 Laptop with built in webcam. He has had Vista uninstalled and Windows 7 installed. The webcam used to be accessed by hovering the cursor to the left of the screen and a toolbar would appear with the option to use the cam. Since windows 7 as been installed this option is no longer there. He now has to go to Skype to turn on the feature. There seems to be no easy way of getting the toolbar back. For some reason, about 5 minutes in after the laptop boots, the computer turns off and restarts. The fans are running, and I don't have enough time to check the temperatures. It seems to me that it might be heat problems and it just shutting off. I would assume it could also be a virus, but when I try to run the Full System Restore disc it shuts off on me in the beginning of the boot. Any feedback will be heavily appreciated. Really need to get this fixed.

Hi I was wondering if anyone can help me. I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop, the problem with it is the screen flickers a lot after being on for a while. I took it to a computer shop for them to have a look at it but when they called me today they told me. The laptop has a hard drive problem. I personally dont think it does as i have not any had hard drive problems, no errors nothing. He said that he would put a new hard drive in for me, i told him not to bother. Can a faulty hard drive cause a flickering screen or is this guy trying to rip me off? I am waiting for him to get back to me when i can pick the laptop up and I will be getting someone else to have a look at it.

I just encountered a problem with my Toshiba laptop that has me wondering. 8 months ago I bought a Toshiba Satellite L755-S5246 laptop. The laptop has Windows 7 Home Premium, 4 gigs of RAM and the Intel Core2Duo B960 processor.

The laptop has met all of my expectations and I have been happy with it. Last night when I got it out I noticed that the battery had 45 minutes left on it as measured by the Battery Meter (which I know can be inaccurate). I wasn't worried because I only had a little to do but all of a sudden and without warning my laptop shut down on me. When I got out the power cord and restarted it there was a warning next to the Battery icon in the System Notification Tray that said something like: "there is a problem with the battery. Switch to AC to avoid sudden shutdown and loss of data". Since I was already on AC I didn't worry and my laptop worked fine but I am concerned. I have had my laptop for 8 months and already the battery has failed? What is going on here? I know they do fail but I have had laptop batteries last for 4 or 5 years. My girlfriend bought her Toshiba (a different laptop, I know this) two years ago and uses here much harder than I do and the battery is still going strong.

Is this a documented issue with Toshiba or just a fluke for me? I can certainly buy another battery but I will not be happy if it fails in such a short period of time. Any thoughts on this? Thanks all for the help.

Hey guys,
I am working on a Toshiba A85-2107 which a friend brought to me because he couldn't get the drivers installed properly for the ethernet adapter and the modem. The computer is running Windows XP SP2 (Home OEM) The problem ended up being that there is a resource conflict which is something that I am really pretty intimidated on fixing myself, so i am asking the masters for help!

The conflict says (right after POST) Conflict on PCI Device on Motherboard Bus 2: Device 3: Function 00

I know to change the address ranges I will need to use the Device manager.
WIll you guys please help me to resolve this!? Thanks so much guys!
