I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Solved: computer beeping sounds when i turn on computer

There are three possibilities here, all related to your memory.

1) You have forgotten to fit your memory back in.
2) Your memory isn't properly seated in its slot(s)
3) You have killed your memory because of not following antistatic procedures.

I'm suspecting it is either 2 or 3.

Hello,

I am sorry if I am off topic but I ran into some power options problems. 3 days ago my computer started making very quiet beeping sounds, it happens mostly when I use Mozilla Firefox and Windows Explorer. My impression is that the sound is coming from the motherboard. When I restarted in safe mode the sound disappeared,
so after a very long elimination process I discovered that when I change control panel-power options-processor power management settings the frequency of beeping changes as well. Until now I was using balanced settings (min processor state 5% and max processor state 100%), if I choose high performance (min and max processor state are both 100%) the beeping becomes very frequent almost continuous, and if I choose power saver settings (min processor state 5% and max processor state 50%) I don't notice the beeping anymore but of course I don't want to keep using only 50% of my processor. I am using a desktop computer, not a laptop. Except for the annoying sound the computer works normally. I have Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit SP1. Thanks in advance.

Answer:Computer making beeping sounds

Hello Erik, and welcome to Vista Forums.

It sounds like you may have more at issue here. Check at this link at the list of beep codes for you brand of BIOS chip to see what the beeps you hear may mean. You shoud see the brand during boot up or entering BIOS at the top of the screen.

Since today my computer wont startup, i tried fixing the power supply cable but i think something went wrong since it wont startup anymore,
When i push the power button it starts to beep .. long beeps with an interval of 2.5 seconds.
I noticed aswell that my fan of my powersuplier does not run.. i was having trouble with the cable connections .. my guess is that i made a mistake there since i have no idea of hardware related issues like this. ( and i doubt that that thing is just broken now) but hey i dont know.. do u?
Thanks in advance.

This is coming internally form my computer..

I purchased Windows XP Home and installed it on my computer, but sometimes, especially if I am playing a game , it will make beeping noises, very much like the old arcade game PONG!!
weird..
I don't know what it is doing this, but I get the same sounds on different games, it will also do this when I am just in Windows and not playing a game.

This is internal and not from my speakers...
Any ideas?
Another Q I have is what is the diffeence between XP Home and Pro?

Thank you!
Matt

Answer:My computer is making beeping sounds internally all the time

There are a few diffrences between home and Pro, the obvious of the two being that pro looks more professional, a little neater.
Not sure about your noises though. sorry.

But after running windows update which had 68 updates it no longer starts. When trying to start it it doesn't show anything on the screen the tower just makes a beeping noise and then the fan starts running really loud it beeps like 4, or 5 times and then nothing but fan running really loudly can be heard with the light flashing. It's a dell not sure what model. I can put up any of the logs since it wont work whatsoever any help would be appreciated thanks guys !

Answer:Computer wont start makes beeping sounds

I do know that dell computers have beep codes to help you figure out the problem. i had only one dell tower beep and it had a bad ram module.it could be bad ram or a failing fan because the computer needs cleaned out of dust and dirt.

Just built a new pc last week. Reinstalled windows this past weekend due to the computer freezing and locking up. The PC will be running fine and then all the sudden it starts to get extremely laggy and then the mouse cursor freezes, no keyboard shortcuts work and task manager won't open on [ctrl+alt+delete]. I am not getting any visible error messages or a BSOD. The PC build was trouble free, board posted on first try and installed windows with no hiccups. The only way to fix the issue is hard reboot, but it's only a temporarily fix as the problem happens randomly. Followed instructions and uploaded the SevenForums Diagnostics Tool Dump Files. Any help would be much appreciated.

Answer:Computer freezes and makes beeping sounds no BSOD

I have an HP Pavilion A210Y, not sure of the inside specs though.
A friend trying to "Help" with some software issue the computer was having, took out the RAM and re-seated it to check something (can't you do that from the computer itself?), and when he put it back in and turned the computer on, before the keyboard or anything can blink, or the monitor even turn on, the computer gives a long beep, followed by silence, and continues to give one beep every few seconds. We tried a different RAM card, same thing. Can anyone please help????
Thank you in advance!!

Well, it appears he's knocked something loose. Did you try reseating all the expansion boards, and any cables on the MB and disks? Of course, you need to carefully check the memory module seating, since that seems to be where things went south. The memory modules snap into the sockets, and the cam-lock ears should come up alongside the modules.

I unplugged my old Dell with Win XP, and tried turning it back on but the little button light just blinks. If I hold it, it turns off. Its like its in sleep mode, and I did have to push the button to turn back on. The internet cable board lights up in back, one little green button, but thats it, plus a slight beeping noise as the button light blinks. Help me Obie-Wan!!

Pretty sure I turned it all off, because I was using the other old crappy computer with that plug. :cry

What model of "old Dell" do you have? There may be a power supply or BIOS problem (you say that the computer beeps) that one or more of the experts may help you diagnose.

Answer:my computer wont turn on it sounds like its jus coming out of sleep mode

Maybe try last known configuration.

Remove all floppy disks, CDs, and DVDs from your computer, and then restart your computer.

Click the Start button , click the arrow next to the Lock button , and then click Restart.

Do one of the following:

If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you will need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then shutting down and restarting your computer.

If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to highlight the operating system you want to start, and then press F8.

On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight Last Known Good Configuration, and then press ENTER.

I have read various submissions regrding the beeping sounds being made within various tower units.
My issue goes along the same line but the symptoms are different.
yes the beeping starts at start-up. After I have signed in with the password/ sign-in name.
But the beeping is not constant. It is erratic at times. Low piches and High pitches. Sometimes at the same time and others slow and fast. The beeping happens when I start some programs but is not specifically related.
And the beeping happens at any time from start up right through the use and until shut down. And times where no sound is heard for long periods.
In one of the members comments was mention of the 'Event Viewer' report.

I am rather avid gamer, but recently a problem has popped up. When playing Steam games (primarily CS:GO and Path of Exile), my computer will start beeping (my computer, NOT coming from the tower itself), and I lose control of my mouse and keyboard. The mouse and keyboard will continue to do whatever the last input was (if I had been pressing q before, it will continue to cast the skill on q, if I was walking forward with w, it will continue to walk forward).

It is worth noting that other high APM games such as Diablo, Starcraft, and League of Legends do NOT create a similar problem.

Some things I have already tried:

Flashed BIOS
Updated all motherboard drivers
Ran diagnostic on all hard drives (especially on the hard drive that steam is palced on)
Reinstalled Steam on a different hard drive
Changed USB port of mouse AND keyboard
Used alternative mouse and keyboard
Ran MalwareBytes anti-virus

Hello. Within the last day or so my computer has been making wierd beeping noises from the computer speaker every 2 minutes or so. I have a program called WeatherBug, and when it's activated and a warning is issued it does that same tone in 5 beep bursts. The funny thing is that I don't have weather bug running when this happens. And when I start WeatherBug and it makes these noises, there are no warnings.

Please post back with any ideas.

Okay, the problems started this morning. I went to bed last night with a long download in progress, so I left my computer on to finish the download even though I usually shut down at night. I got up this morning to see that my computer was off, and I didn't remember turning it off. So, I walked over to it and turned it on only to hear four beeps, the only way I know to describe the sound is to say that it sounded like a European ambulance. About two seconds after the beeping, it turned off. I pressed the power button to turn it on again, and same thing. I went to the other computer in my house and began searching online for the cause of this. Several things I read pointed to overheating due to dust buildup. So, I thoroughly cleaned out the inside of my computer, removing a small amount of dust that had caked on the actual CPU, got it out of the heatsink and fan, the fan on my graphics card, blew out the power supply, ect. I put everything back together, and turned it on again. This time it came on, no beeping, and it appeared as though it was going to work, but after about fifteen seconds it turned off again. I went back online and found people saying that a faulty power supply could also be causing this.

It is entirely possible that my PSU bit off a bit more than it could chew. I had been busy for the last month or so, and didn't really have time to clean out the inside very well. I've also had this computer for going on three years and have installed a new ... Read more

Hello everyone!

I was erasing unecessary things off my computer and I'm not sure if I accidently erase something that I wasn't suppose to or not. All I know is that my sounds on my computer are not stopped working at all. A few times my computer would say a hardware has been found, but everytime I try to install it, it tells me that the hardware couldn't be found. I went to control panel and my computer says "no active mixer sounds." Nothing happens when I try to update my drivers in the Device Manager. In Sounds and Audio it says "No audio device." My System Restore button won't work either so I can't restore my settings. My computer didn't come with a disk so I can't reinstall the program. I'm not sure if this computer came with a sound card, if it did, I wouldn't know where to look for it. Can anyone tell me if my sound drivers needs to be updated, or could there be a virus on my computer or something. Please someone help me to find what out what happened to my sounds. Thanks

I have a Compaq Presario FS7600
Windows XP Professional.

What does it mean when you turn on your computer and it makes a sound like a car alarm?

...My computer's been freezing a lot lately and sometimes not booting up all the way (when this happens we turn it off for a while and then when we turn it back on it's OK). Then last night I accidentally left it on Standby all night, and when I hit some keys this morning it didn't wake up. So I hit the restart button and walked away for a minute. Then one of my cats bolted out of the living room all freaked out, and I heard this loud noise that sounded like there was an ambulance driving through my apartment. It turns out it was coming from my computer. The screen was completely black and it was just making this noise. So I hit the restart button again and it did the same thing. I've never heard a computer make a noise like this before, but I'm sure it's a hardware problem... I just don't know which part of my hardware it is that's having the problem. Can anyone help?

I am using a Dell Dimension E310 and have lost my sound.

I posted this to the XP forum and we exhauted all ideals from there.

From all appearances the speakers work. I borrowed some speakers and these did not work either.

Right before I lost my sound I had installed more RAM. The other forum said this would not have affect on the sound.

Any help is appreciated.

Answer:Solved: No sounds from computer/speakers

Once you know that the speakers work (test them on another computer) and that the volume is turned up on the pc, make sure in your bios that onboard sound is indeed enabled (if its onboard sound you're using)

I would also click the start button > run > type dxdiag and check the sound tabs. See if there is indeed a driver installed.

Go to your control panel, sounds and audio devices. Check to see that you have your speaker settings set to desktop speakers if thats what you're using, do that by clicking speaker settings and clicking advanced.

Click the audio tab and make sure that the sound playback is set to the correct audio device.

Click start > run > type services.msc, scroll down to windows audio, make sure that it is started and set to automatic.

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head right now. Try those out and let me know how it goes.

Well, today when I woke up I tried starting my computer, but it started making beeping noises and the light on the expansion bay started flashing. I looked up the problem, and found it it's beep code. The beeps my computer is making is as follows:
short, short, long
short, short, long
short, short, long
short, short, long
short, short, long

There is a one second interval in between each set. I went to the HP site and found this page: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&docname=bph07107#N1010 . However, I'm not sure if it applies to my BIOS or not. I have a HP Pavilion Media Center m8120n TV PC, 3GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce 7350 LE Graphics Card, and about 500GB of HDD space, and an Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600.

I tried looking for the specific BIOS on my computer, but couldn't find it. So I can only assume what they say is my problem is what it actually is. Which is that my computer was "Unable to initialize video or video card required but not installed". This computer is about 4 years old, and I have never changed the card, and have not updated the drivers for several months. How can I fix this problem? I read on other forums where people where having problems with their RAM they had to try putting it into a different slot, however, I'm not sure if my computer has multiple PCI-E slots to do this. Do you have any display at all?

If not, then it's probably certain that the beep code is correct; that your video chip needs butter (because it's toast).

Does it have a video card installed? If so, pull it, and see if you can get display through the native video output. If it is without a video card, go to a local shop, and see if they have on old one, compatible with your system, that you can use to test with. If it tests good, you probably need to buy a video card...

If your computer is disconnected, you can probably get away without any grounding strap. Nothing in life is guaranteed tho'.

Why is my computer making playing these sounds when...?

Anyone ever heard of the old computer game "Commander Keen"? If you're really familiar with it, do you remember the sounds that played during certain actions during the game? I.e. shooting your gun, entering a new level, etc.

Well, one day when I was really bored a while back, I downloaded the game just to see how well I remembered it all.

I uninstalled it forever ago, but sometimes my computer still makes a couple of the sounds from it. I have a dell laptop, and with that I have a Microsoft wireless keyboard. now, whenever I power on my computer and open windows, the first time I press a key such as alt, tab or ctrl (on my laptop keyboard only) it plays a couple of those sounds. And doesn't do it again until I reboot my computer and press one of those keys again.

Also, it only plays on my laptop speakers even though I have my Logitech Z-5300 THX 5.1 Speakers hooked up and on. All of my other sounds (including warning and system sounds) play over those.

Even though it wouldn't be something you could set in your Sounds and Audio Devices Properties, I checked there anyways and everything is at its default sound. I’ve never changed any of those.

Does anyone have any idea what the heck is causing this?

Answer:Solved: why is my computer making playing these sounds when...

WOW "Commander Keen"! I have not hear about it in years.

When uninstalling a program many leave peices of themselves behind. So I recommend you try a System Restore selecting a date before you installed it. Otherwise you are going to have to search the Windows Registry and delete any forgotten peice, which is hard and dangerous to do.

About three weeks ago my computer started making the sing-song sound of an ambulance siren, but much softer. In the past week it has happened twice in one day and happened again this morning. If I turn it off for a while and then turn it back on, it's fine...until the next time.

Do I need to be concerned about it crashing? What causes it and how do I (or someone else) fix it?

Thanks.

Answer:Solved: computer making sounds like ambulance

Sounds like it is overheating.

Have you overclocked anything? Added components? Are all the fans spinning? Try blowing the dust out of the tower with a can of air, pay close attention to the fans, make sure they are clean.

My Dell Dimension 8400 Windows XP (512MB RAM) has been making a low humming noise non-stop for about 3 days now. I just went through the malware/virus removal processes and the system is working relatively efficient but this humming noise is rather irritating. Sounds like the system is just struggling.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

I'm using Windows Vista btw. I was wondering if it was possible to set my computer up to turn itself on at a particular time. Is this actually possible or am I just a crazy man with a dream?

Answer:Solved: Will my computer turn itself on?

Turn on or wake up? If it's actually turned off then I know of a way but don't recommend it. Basically it involves 'crashing' your PC by turning the power off without shutting it down. Probably 80% of the time it'll be OK but if you keep doing it one day the odds will catch up with you. (You'd need to set the BIOS for the PC to come back on after a power outage, too.)

If you leave it on, just in standby, then you should be able to do it with a scheduled task.

My wife has a Compaq Presario V5000 running Windows XP Home. It will not turn on.

Here is the sequence of events as relayed to me:

My granddaughter (age 6) was playing on the computer;

She tried to download a game;

The Norton Anti-virus popped on with a warning;

She went ahead and tried to download it anyway;

It did not load but a virus may have downloaded;

When my wife tried to the computer back on, it turned on for a minute or so then shut itself off and would not turn back on;

I have tried to restart it with both the power cord and the battery, battery alone, and power alone... nothing!

If I could get it back on, I could reset a restore point, or even reload the whole system.

Do you know if there is a reset button or some other way to get it turned on?

Thanks,

Charlie

Answer:Solved: Help! Can't turn off computer!

Well, your options are to just wait and keep trying, or do what you will have to at some point> restart the computer.

There is a keylogger installed on your computer, did you realize that?

Do you think it was doing something, updating Windows, etc?

Has the problem happened before?

Can you start up in Safe Mode? Or, Safe Mode with Networking, which has Internet access...try that.

Try CTRL+ALT+DEL a few times to restart or to try to, it still may not.

If the computer has a "Reset" button, use that to restart, and make sure you boot to Safe Mode, with or without networking....

To get to Safe Mode> Press F8 several times just as you see anything on screen when you start up....you should then get a menu to select things from, use your keyboard up/down arrow keys to move to Safe Mode and press Enter to go there.

This problem had happened in the past; unfortunately, it has become more severe today. I usually just push the power button a couple of times and it would turn on, but today it has completely failed me.

I usually leave my computer on 24/7, so I decided to shut down my computer today before I head out. When I got home, I pushed the power button of my desktop, and it wouldnt turn on. I can't remember the last time that this occured cause I rarely turn off my comp. I opened up my case to see if any of the cables were loose, but none were. I even checked the connectors to the power and reset button, but still no cookie.

When I push the buttonr on, I realize that none of the fans spin, the motherboard light is ON. I'm suspecting that it's a PSU issue, can somebody please shed some light?

Thanks

G'day BOB, which light are you describing the monitor or the mini-tower?
It sounds like you may have a simple power lead or connection problem to the mini-tower if you are describing the Monitor led.

I pressed the power button on my computer one day, and nothing happened.. What's wrong with my computer? When I press the power button, there is no response whatsoever. There are no beep codes, there are no fans spinning, nothing seems to happen at all. I've found that a green light on the PSU is lit up, and there is a yellow light shining on the motherboard. My PSU is Bestec ATX0300D5WB, motherboard is 0RY007 from an Inspiron 530 computer. This is a list of things I have tried so far:
Replace power button
Replace processor
Replace processor fan
Remove all but one RAM stick
Remove all but the necessary components
Clean inputs to the motherboard with a toothbrush
Reset BIOS (removing and replacing battery)

I could try replacing the PSU, I have 2 available, but I don't know for sure how the wattage works. Can someone explain what this green light and yellow light mean?

Can you enter safe mode by tapping F8 continuously after pressing power button until you see a choice of options and then choose safe mode with networking. If you can see those BTW, you might want to try "last known good configuration" first, and see if that does it.

Answer:Solved: computer will not turn on!

Hi!

If you are afraid to do the screwdriver thing (also works if you contact the 2 cables of the power switch) try replacing the power switch with a new one. In most cases the power switch is identical to the reset switch. So you just need to remove the plug from the reset slot of your m/b and place it on the power slot. If done correctly the reset button will turn on/off your PC.

Hey guys,

Had a powercut the other day and now when I try to turn my computer on, all I get is a fast blinking light at the front. NOTHING else. Took me a while to even realise anything was happening at all.

I think I've had a similar problem before, and I had to get a new power suppy or something. I've also browsed similar threads and found this advice:

1> Open Case and Re-seat CPU...
2> Re-seat the CPU and Fan Power Connections...
3> Buy a New PSU...

I was wondering if anyone could help me out, by confirming this or providing an alternative. I wouldn't know how to "re-seat" anything, I'm pathetic when it comes to hardware, but I don't particularly want to fork out the money for a new power supply.

Thanks,

Recently, or should I say, half a year ago, my computer's power source experienced some problems, and so I had to replace the power source. After everything was plugged in, my computer looked like it was ready to be turned on. However, it didn't. The power button didn't seem to do anything. Inside, though, I saw that the little green light on my motherboard was lit up (if that helps).

I tried constant time to check what the problem was but couldn't fine anything of notice, until just a few days ago, when I told myself to stop being lazy, and fix the damned thing. I noticed that whenever I insert the power cable, and try to turn on my computer with the main switch on the front of the computer tower, I saw how there was a slight twitch of the fan on the power supply. This was the only thing in the whole computer that moved, but the twitch didn't do anything "good", and my computer remained off.

Just today, I gained the courage to lurk on a few forums to see if anybody had the exact same problem as me, and had theirs solved. I'll try to be as detailed as possible. I have a Windows Media Center Edition 32 bit running. I left it on this morning, when my wife left at 3:00 pm it was still working. When i got home it was off, i found it strange because the light off the usb hub were all on & that signifies that the computer was on. i turn off the computer with the switch on the back & left it for about a half hour (once or twice recently it had happened & that worked, believe it had over heated & shut down as a safety precaution, i live in an attic apartment). It doesn't have a motherboard light like previous computers, but the network(rj-45) light turn on for a second, turn back off, then stayed on. I press the power button, the cpu fan spins a second the stops, then nothing happens, press the power button again, nothing happens. I cant tell you how frustrated I am, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys,

I just got a Toshiba Satellite L655, I absolutely love it, everything works fine..

Except when I try to turn the sound down using FN + 3 or FN + 4, It's supposed to turn the sound down but it doesn't.. When I press the FN key a thing pops up and lists the keys I can use and what they do.. But the 3 and 4 keys aren't there...

Any help on how I could get these to work would be great!

Thanks!

Answer:[SOLVED] New Computer, cannot turn sound down.

A friend of mine owns a Gateway SX2840-01. It came with a 220W power supply, so when he wanted a new video card (a Nvidia GTS 250 512MB GDDR3), he obviously needed a new power supply. And, because it came with a micro tower, he needed to take it out of the case to fit the video card.

So he connected it to a Corsair 650W power supply and put it into a different case. This "new" case was an older Compaq midtower that his parents used to own. The Gateway and Compaq power switch connectors were both quite weird compared to the computers I've built for myself. Rather than having individual PWR SW, PWR LED, etc. plugs, all of these were sandwiched together into one giant, stupid, proprietary plug. And, naturally, the posts on the motherboard aren't labeled, so plugging alternate ones into them was a nightmare. We tried using the one from Compaq case and that worked only as far as getting the power LED to light up briefly without the computer ever turning on. Which makes me very nervous.

So, getting frustrated, we put it back into the original case, hooked it back up to the original power supply, and removed the video card.

It still won't turn on.

How? Could there be a problem with the power button? Could there be a problem with the motherboard now?

I don't know the model of the original PSU, but the motherboard model, FWIW, is MBSD101001005010E9EK00.

Answer:Solved: Computer suddenly can't turn on

He put the computer back in the new case again this morning, seemingly the exact same way as last night. Now it works with the new PSU and GPU. For some unfathomable reason.

I'm still curious about what went wrong, but at least it's not a problem anymore!

When I push the power button the light on the front will blink one time but not turn on. If I hold the button the fan will half way run but as soon as I let go of the button the computer will turn off. If I put a paper clip in the port hole in the plug on the MB from the power supply I run a jumper from the green wire to the black wire and the power supply will turn on and run until i remove the jumper any ideas on what this could be?

i have a computer that has a hard drive problem, software related i believe or maybe a bad sector on disk but i can't run scandisk and you can't really install new programs b/c you get read memory error or save mem error etc...

anyways this was a month ago and the computer had not been turned on since and just recently i turned it on to look something up on it and the computer won't turn the monitor on. everytime before it always booted up and had no problems except that read mem error every so often.

i replaced the video card and that didn't help, i put in a serial to pci card and plugged the monitor in that way and that didn't help. i plugged the monitor into a number of other computers and it turns on and works fine. it's just this one computer that won't turn it on. computer has winxp pro sp2 the motherboard is brand new but i'm wondering if maybe the sockets on the board went bad, but how? it's sat there for a month with a dust cover on it and haven't had any surges or anything, it has not been moved or dropped or anything, just a big paper weight. any ideas or suggestions? btw no hardware/software changes on the computer so that would not be a factor. anything to help is appreciated.

I have recently purchased a computer from a freind in hope to refurbish it and sell it on. When I bought it it had not RAM no Hard Drive and what they said was a broken PSU. I have changed the psu and added some ram and a hard drive but when I plug it in and try to turn it on nothing happens. I have checked that all the leads are in correctly and even tried to just use a jumper instead of the power button to turn it on. The little green LED comes on at the top of the motherboard but other than that it is completly dead. I have tried two different powersupplys and changed the bios battery aswell. Any other idea why this could be. I hoovered the computer out to clean the dust but I dont see as how this would damage it because I have done it to many other computers. Any Ideas. Could I be bad capacitors or something like that.

This is crazy. I was on the computer reading my email one day and suddenly it went off. I tried turning it back on with no luck. Then I got an old PSU that I took off of a computer someone left me. It's an Okia 550x swithching psu. That worked ok. Then another computer I was working on would not turn on. I tried another power cord and that seemed to be the problem. After that I put my original Corsair TX550W back on with no luck. In trying different PSU's back and forth, I had it lying down on a stool next to the desk. I tried the Corsair with it lying down and it worked. I turned it off and sat it back on the floor under desk and it would not work again. I contacted Corsair and they wrote me back and forth a few times and had me do some things. Finally they told me to send that one back they don't make them anymore. So they sent me another TX650W this time. I got it last eve and put it in today. The same thing is still happening. I have made sure everything is tightened down good and I still am having the same problem. Any Suggestions anyone??

Question: beeping sounds

I was running my desktop just fine for months. I restarted it to apply some AVG updates. Now it is not booting up and I'm getting beeps/beeping from what sounds like the internal speaker. Constant beeps, short in lenght, very fast, no stopping. My Dell Dimension 8250 w/RDRAM and nvidia GX420 Video will not boot either and will consistently hang up on the XP boot-up screen where you see the F2 and F12 options. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try unplugging the pc, remove the watch battery from the motherboard, and hold the power button for a few seconds to discharge the power. Put the battery back in, plug it in and turn it on. What happens?

hey guys, im not a computer expert, and i really need ur help! i have a pentium 4, windows 98 computer... for a few times already, my computer when you turn it on would produce these long beeping sounds... nothing on the monitor is shown... i tried to repeatedly press restart and sometimes i would be lucky that the pc works again fine but the monitor shows some stuff wherein i would just pick the SAVE CHANGES thingie....this would happen several times but it would come back to it working perfectly fine... one time, my brother encountered the same problem of the beeping sounds and when it stopped the same stuff showed up but he picked DISCARD CHANGES... the monitor then had this INSERT DISK. DISK BOOT ERROR thingie appeared... we finally contacted the computer store whre we bought it, the repairguy said the hard drive (im not sure though) was dirty and loose... he then fixed and cleaned it ...  for little less than two weeks, the computer worked fine but then the beeping sounds were there again... eventhough i try to restart it like before it won't work ok... what do you think is the problem? are my files safe? i wouldnt wanna contact the comp repair guy bcos the fee is quite expensive! please help! what do you advise?

Ok so my PSU fan went out everything still worked, but I didn't want to ruin anything so I went to Microcenter bought a 600W Coolmax PSU, and a CoolerMaster V8 CPU Cool/Fan Set, installed the V8, then the PSU, booted up and everything was running fine, all fans were working and the CPU Core temp was 28C for 10mins solid, rebooted into BIOS changed some overclocking settings according to my friend that has overclocked before, set RAM to 1:1 ratio, unliked 800MHz, and the FSB to 1337(I know funny haha 1337, but it made it an even 3.0GHz from a 2.4GHz) after saving that I rebooted into Win 7 32bit and everything was running fine, ran a 100% CPU test for all cores and it went up to 58C for 10mins solid, which was acceptable, I decided to try out a game "Cities XL LE" got into the main menu and the computer suddenly shut off, tried turning it back on and then I got no signal to either monitor I have dual monitors.

Ok so this is what I have done so far, tried 2 different Monitors, not the monitors, swapped the psu, not the psu, swapped the memory, not the memory, swapped the GPU, not the GPU, I also had everything(hdd, mouse, keyboard, cdroms, dvdroms etc..) disconnected from the MB and the PSU while I was swapping components I only had the VideoCard(GPU), PSU, MB, and CPU connected, the only things I haven't swapped out is the CPU and the MB itself, what do you guys think?

I also took out the CMOS battery for 5 mins while having the PSU drained of power and n... Read more

My computer was in sleep mode; when I tried to wake it, I heard the sound of the hard driver and the fans but the light would keep blinking and nothing showed up on screen.

I forced a shutdown, and when I turn it on back again, the light stay steady blue but nothing on the screen. Then, I turn it off by force again, unplugged it, plugged it back again. This time the the computer started by itself, and I heard the sound of fans running and it doesn't stop. The times I've that sound were when I turn it on after being unplugged, but the sound would stop and the computer would boot into the HP screen that showed options to go to the BIOS.

The monitor is alright, i tested it. But I am empty in hand because i can't configure the bios.

I'd greatly appreciate some help, please, to reverse something I think I caused.

My Windows XP SP3 laptop will no longer turn off using Start / Turn Off Computer;
computer will neither turn off or restart.

This started while I was freeing space on my laptop, during which I did both
some Remove programs from Control Panel, and manual file / folder deletions.

Was freeing space getting ready to look into why new, blank DVD-R discs are
reading as having 0 used and free space, on Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-R2312, which
reads 'used' discs correctly.

Hello,

I have a very strange and periodic question that I was hoping someone could lend some guidance on. I have a computer that when I turn it on, I can see the power turn on, all the fans and hard drive turn on but there is just no video feed/signal to turn the monitor on. Now, this is very periodic. There are times when I turn it on and there is no problem, it will boot up and all. This lack of video feed is right from the beginning even in the post, I cannot even get into the cmos. Could the video card be acting up?
Yet, once it is on, there seems to be no problems. I have even left the computer on and played some video games for 3-4 hours and still no problems.
I look forward to your advice.
Thanks!

Hello.

I have a strange problem and i'm not even completely sure it's hardware related.

I formatted my PC's hard drive and installed XP. I didn't have any troubles with that and it wasn't unusual in any way. Unfortunatelly after that my PC has problems turning on. It restarted a few times during system instalation, updating and installing other programs (which is normal), but after I turned it off for the night, the START button doesn't seem to work properly. For the first and second time I've managed to turn it on eventually (I've unplugged the power cord and plugged it again, I played with the ON/OFF switch, I waited). But the problem didn't vanish. Now it doesn't respond at all. Maybe it will turn on after a while (like two last times), but I'd prefer the problem to disappear completely.

I found this article - http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/547 - but I really would like to avoid opening the guts of my PC. Is it possible that the problem is software related? It appeared only AFTER the format and has never existed before.

Answer:Solved: Computer doesn't turn on after format

Hi, I'm so sorry if this question has been asked and answered previously, to be honest, I wouldn't even know where to begin with searching for it in previous posts.

I've never had any problems with my computer in the past, I look after it as well as I know how but have recently been having problems with The Sims 3 (a lot of people are having issues with it). My problems related only to the game play and I had them sorted out and fixed finally. I played today when it crashed on me.

After about an hour of waiting I still could do nothing to get the crashed game off. I had tried all the key commands I know, including the obvious ctrl + alt + del but still it was going nowhere so I switched my computer off at the tower. I know, stupid, but I could see the waiting game was getting me nowhere.

Anyway, now whenever I turn the computer on, it does the initial load, then it takes me to that black screen asking if I want to run it in safe mode or start it as usual and after that screen, it starts to load up windows but stops and takes me to a blue screen. This is the message on the blue screen -
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

My computer seems to be on, but the monitor doesn't come on, nor does any of my devices that are connected to the USB ports. I have to switch the power supply rocker switch off and on and then turn the computer from the front power button to finally get the monitor to turn on. Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't and I have to do it a few times before it works. Is this a power supply issue, motherboard issue, or driver issue? I don't mind it that much because the computer still works, but it is getting annoying. Your advice or info is much appreciated.

P.S.---This all happened after I tried to over clock the CPU and the frequency was too much that I had to reset the mother board.
