Solved: Logitech Webcam and Windows 7 Not Working

Question: Solved: Logitech Webcam and Windows 7 Not Working

I have a Logitech C250 webcam. As soon as I upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista, I was no longer able to connect to people through Logitech Vid or Skype. I plugged the camera into my second computer with XP and it works fine.

I have uninstalled the drivers and software from my Windows 7 machine and got new software and drivers from Logitech's site specifically for Windows 7, but it still won't work. Logitech support is worthless. They blame my connection but it works just fine on other machines.

Any help would be great!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I am the proud owner of a new computer (Acer Aspire M3979) and I have connected most things ok but I am having a problem with my wecam (I think). I have a Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000 and I plugged it in and it worked straight away. I always use Skype to talk to family and I have only done this twice on the new computer. Both times the conversation was fine but at the end of the call the light on the webcam stayed on even though Skype was closed. After this the computer logged off but would not shut down and I had to force a shut down.
I thought the drivers may not be compatible with my Windows 7 64bit system but apparently I have the latest drivers and all should be working well. Any suggestions please? or will I need to buy a new webcam? Any help much appreciated.

My Logitech C525 webcam microphone is only working intermittently. I have tried uninstalling the camera via the Device Manager in "Audio inputs and outputs" and "Sound, video and game controllers", and re-installing the latest driver from Logitech, but with no success. It appears that there may be a conflicting driver in my HP desktop. The problem started after an HP software upgrade on 26th September 2016.Under "Playback devices", I can see my Webcam C525 listed. When selecting microphone properties and "microphone levels", the microphone is muted. When changing to "un-mute", (and increase Microphone to 100%) the microphone works for up to 1 minute before switching automatically back to mute.  Thank you for your help.

Windows xp sp2, logitec webcam c250.

Installed according to directions on logitec (ran CD, connected hardware when prompted). Worked fine. Can see self in the logitec video screen, take pics, etc.
Chose not to use the headseat that came with the webcam as it had a mic built in to the camera and I only had one place to connect the head set would have pre-empted my speakers.

Downloaded and installed skype and ran through their series of video and voice tests. All was fine. Placed several calls...good. Also installed LogMeIn free version so I could support this set up after I left home for a business trip as my Mom is not all that savvy.

Two days after I got it all working, the Mic no longer works. When I run the test in Skype with the echo service, I can hear the recording, but it shows at the top the mic volume is too low and sure enough, it does not play back the messages I leave for the test.

I have found a post on here (several in fact) about checking certain skype settings and will do that when I get home tonight. Meanwhile I had my Mom move the camera from the USB port to another one thinking it was maybe a port gone bad. No such luck.

I also wondered if it could be caused by the install of logmein? It doesn't work whether I'm remoted in or not so it's not the amount of traffic causing the issue, it would almost be like some kind of interupt conflict but a) I thought that was pretty much a thing of the past and b) I wouldn't e... I have a logitech webcam and have used it before with no problem. I purachased the same webcam for a friend. We seem to be unable to connect. He has Windows XP and I am using the Windows 2000 platform... Is that the problem and if so....can it be solved?? We are trying to connect via MSN netmeeting.

Hmm. I know that MSN Messenger doesn't allow video conferencing unless *both* users are running Windows XP. I don't know how NetMeeting works, though (I'm assuming you mean Microsoft NetMeeting, not "MSN Netmeeting"). Just a thought.

My question is can I download software from logitech, or software that you would recommend? I matched the picture on amazon, and I believe that it is the Logitech Quickcam USB Zoom Web Cam ( 961325-0403 ) Just so you know, I'm above average in computer skills, but I'm not a geek, I don't know C+, A+, etc.

HI,

I am running Windows 7 on my laptop, which has a Celeron 900 2.2GHz single core processor and 2GB of RAM.

Up until yesterday I was happily making Skype calls simultaneously with watching videos in VLC. I was using a Logitech Quickcam, but this started to malfunction and go black whenever I moved the laptop, so I assume there was a problem with the cable or something.

Today I replaced the Quickcam with a logitech C270 (which is HD compatible but I realise I don't have the resources necessary for this). Since then I cannot use skype and watch videos at the same time; the video slows down to a crawl. I used the drivers provided with the camera and have checked for updated versions just in case and installed those too.

I'm rather frustrated -- I don't see why installing a new webcam would cause me to be unable to watch videos and video call at the same time when I've done this easily up until now.

I notice both SVC host and "Interrupts" have 10%+ CPU usage during these times in Process Explorer (what is the "interrupts" process?).

Please help?

Thanks in advance

Okay, so I'm usually able to solve problems without help, but this one has me at a loss on where to look next. I'm looking for any suggestions and will report back on my results.

1) I have a Logitech C525 USB webcam connected to a computer running Windows 7, 64 bit, SP1, fully updated. The camera appears in the "Device Manager" under "Sound, video and game controllers" as "HD Webcam C525" with "This device is working properly." with either the Logitech driver (13.51.823.0 dated 9/21/2012, the latest driver I could get from their website) or the standard Microsoft driver (6.1.7601.18208 dated 7/12/2013) * I've tried both.

2) Furthermore, when I start a XP virtual machine under VM Workstation running on the same computer, and assign the webcam to it (taking it temporarily away from Windows 7) everything works exactly as expected inside the virtual XP machine.

3) Under Windows 7, both Skype & the Logitech Webcam utility detect & correctly identify the camera, offer controls to pan & zoom, etc. but, no matter what I try, I cannot get anything in Windows 7 to show me the camera video (I only get a black screen with the spinning "waiting" symbol).
I've already asked this problem on another (obviously inferior ) site with no replies. I have no idea what is blocking the video from appearing in Windows 7. As promised, I'll report back any results, and thank you very much in advance to everyone for... Read more

Answer:Logitech WebCam Video Blank, But Only in Windows 7

I'm not sure I can help you, but I have the Logitech C920 Web Cam running Windows 7 and it works perfectly. I also have VMware, but have never had it run under XP or Linux. However I do Know that it cannot be assigned to VMware and Windows 7 at the same time. Have you tried uninstalling it from the VM before shutting it down? I'm sure you have installed the Windows 7 driver from Logitech and not the XP driver. That is only a guess, but worth a try. By the way, welcome to Seven Forums.

EDIT: In case it makes a difference, mine, in Device Manager is under Imaging devices.

Hi all

Since I updated my computer and reinstalled windows 10 Creators update, my Logitech c920 web cam is showing the video offset to the right both in the camera app and in skype. When I load the webcam software it shows it correctly however. I thought it might be a scaling issue but it isn't. I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times with no luck so far - does anyone have a similar problem or any ideas I can try?

Bought a new Logitech webcam C270 Have installed, uninstalled several times then went online with logitech support and we uninstalled again and then downloaded from their website. In device manager under the tab imaging devices it gives us the error message that Windows can not load my device driver for my Photosmart C6200 or for my Logitech C270 webcam.

We did an uninstall and reinstall and it still says that. The support tech said that is all he could do that I would have to go to Gateway and download my OS driver. Talked to them but they can't help me because it would cost a fortune because my computer is older and not covered under their plan.

HELP

Answer:Windows can not load my device driver for my C270 Logitech webcam

Since both devices show as not being able to load the driver, have you tried uninstalling the Photosmart C6200 software as well?
Could be there is a conflict between the 2 drivers.

If that does not help, it could be a problem with the USB port setup, so updating the motherboard drivers[/URL] is indeed a next step.

---------My laptop model is Inspiron 17R 5720 and Im having the exact same problem after the Microsoft Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607: August 31, 2016 - KB3176938, done Sep 4th. I was also already running Win10 and it didnt mess with Webcam Central - till yesterday when I gave the reboot necessary to install the update files.Pan/Zoom/Position Arrows show as available to be used but if you try to use then, nothing happens and back to full zoom. Only thing it allows me to do is to change to Face Tracking.I called Dell Suport Center and for about 2 hours I ran diagnostics and tried possible solutions with the tech assistant but he wasnt very helpfull at all. All diagnostics came back with positive/OK/passed results and they offered me a paid support to fix the problem. Not exactly a good solution, is it?It was clear though MS updates messed up with the webcam driver - I checked myself at Devices/Imaging there was an update for the driver done exactly when MS updates were done. Unfortunatelly, the rollback option wasnt available. For that matter, I decided to uninstall the whole Windows KB3176938 and CAPICOM (what ever that is) updates done using Control Panel/Updates but no-go. I've owned this laptop for quite a while and had been using Webcam Central to control the Integrated Webcam on my Alienware M17x R4.   I never had any issues using Windows 7, 8, 8.1, or even Windows 10 until my system updated on 8/20/2016 with a scheduled Windows 10 update.
After the windows 10 update my system restarted and the next time I went to use my webcam I noticed that I couldn't control the pan / zoom / or tilt or alter any of the settings in webcam central.  If I attempt to change anything it automatically changes back instantly.  For example of I move the slider to zoom, or attempt to change the pan, it auto goes back to where it was and will not allow me to change the settings.
I also notice that my mouse pointer flickers over the webcam central GUI, meaning, there seems to be some issue with the GUI after the windows 10 update, I assume is also whats causing the settings not to be changed.
I have tried uninstalling both the drivers and software and reinstalling to no avail, same problem is present after reinstallation of both drivers and the webcam central software.
Wondering if anyone else has run into this and whether there was some type of resolution.
I was able to get the pan / zoom / tilt working with 3rd party webcam software, however I would prefer to go back to using webcam central.

Hello,

I have just got a Logitech MX 1100 mouse from amazon and can't get it working. Well I got a replacement and even that doesn't work.

I've:
Inserted the battery's the correct way.
Turned it on and the green light comes on.
Inserted the USB receiver and installed the software
My computer recognises the receiver and says its ready for use
The Logitech software detects the mouse as been MX 1100
It detects the mouse in device manager

I've tried it on two computers and multiple USB slots and it doesn't work on either. Surely it can't be another dud.

I'm using win xp sp3.

Thanks

I'm creating this post just fyi should it help anyone else with this problem. Here's what I tried and, at least in my case, how i solved a "mouse left click doesn't work" problem

I have a Logitech wireless laser mouse and use rechargeable AA batteries. The other morning i powered on my computer as usual and tried using my Logitech wireless mouse but left click didn't work (although rt click and mouse movement continued working just fine)

Things i first tried that didn't help:
> Reinstalling Logitech Setpoint and mouse drivers
> Reinstalling Logitech USB transceiver firmware
> Pressing the "reconnect" button on the USB transceiver to reconnect transceiver to wireless mouse
> Changed the mouse batteries a couple times and also tried recently recharged batteries

Then i had a hunch (well, it was really more of a last ditch hopeful guess - but it seems to have worked!)
I removed the batteries and let the mouse sit overnight without any battery inside it. When i put batteries back in the next morning, the mouse has been working fine again ever since. Go figure :stickout:

Answer:Left click on Logitech wireless mouse stopped working (Solved)

Good stuff there J. I don't know anything about wireless mice but i am wondering if it "reset" itself. Just a thought and a small one at that.

Answer:Logitech Webcam

Welcome to T.S.G Desertguy.

Is it ok after a re-boot? If not, heres a brief how to.
When the Windows Installer performs an installation it creates a registry key called "In-Progress"....... which is located at HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Installer\InProgress. When the transaction is done, it removes the key........ Other installations check for this key before they begin. If the key exists, the installation does not start and produces Error 1500.
can you open regedit and find and delete this key?

A friend of mine recently gave me a USB Logitech webcam. However, there were no instructions on how to install it, or any CD with drivers.

I assume that I am going to need drivers for this. It is a QuickCam® Express (earlier version)

Since I have never hooked up a USB WebCam before, could someone give me some advice?

Do I need to download any drivers?

Will the Cam work with Real Player or Windows Media player?

What other software will work with the Cam?

Try that link for the drivers. If you aren't running XP, look to the left column. Other OS is listed. If I remember right, you need to install the software, reboot, and then plug in the camera.
There are numerous programs and websites that will let you broadcast to their site. The cam has it's own program for recording. Good luck.

I bought a Logitech Webcam Quickpro for Notebooks and I got it to work just fine. But when I try to talk to someone who uses iChat, I can see and hear them perfectly and they get a blurry screen of me and no sound. I have a Compaq Presario and he has a Mac. I keep getting a good microphone check and I can see myself clearly on my screen, so I don't know if it is his computer rejecting the PC or mine being non-user friendly, but any help soon would be appreciated!

Answer:Logitech Webcam problems

I am looking forward to hearing some thoughts on our problem as I have the reverse situation -

I am a Mac user and have been trying to iChat with a sony PC user who just got Logictech Fusion cam. I see and hear her fine but she cant hear me...not even ambient noise of room. I do hear the speakers working for IM alerts etc. so they must be okay...

Then when I try to enter a programme to use it, it switches off, only to turn back on again when I exit the programme.Any suggestions to rectify this porblem will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.Ps on an unrelated matter - how do i start up my pc (Packard Bell) in safe mode?

most pc's are started in safe mode by continually tapping F8 during boot up, as for cam i would suggest uninstalling it it and re installing.johnny.

It's one of the older models hasn't been installed for a couple of years ( all white thing) anyway, took it to use on another computer and it is near damn impossible to activate. No drivers from the logitech website ( and they all seem the same) what the hell? I estimate this is about 2-3 years old should work no problem. Anyone got a clue? Ridiculous.

Answer:Ridiculous Logitech Webcam.

Do you have model data?

If you connect it and boot, then ignore the drivers install, then go to regedit and look under HKLM, System, Current Control Set, Enum, USB look for entries 'Vid_046....' - these are Logitech items.

See if the model info appears.

hello,
any idea how I can get my webcam to work in win7 RC 7100 64 bits
the only way I got the drivers to install was to execute them in vista SP3 mode and I get a message like : these drivers are not made for this windows and then I click continue anyway, everything looks like it's working but once it's installed it asks me to plug-in the webcam and then win7 looks for the drivers on windows update and once this is done I can't see the webcam on my computer, huh?

sorry that sentence was horrible

lol yeah it was hard to follow....

I am surprised that Windows doesn't have these drivers...
What I did to get my webcam (old one) installed was to focrce the install Windows Vista 32 bit drivers.

Have you tried installing the Windows Vista 64bit drivers?

Also, you can take the application downloaded, extract it, then use just the drivers only.

If you download the 64-bit application for Vista, save it to a temp location. The use an archiver like 7-zip to extract it. After you extract it you can see the drivers in there. Point the device manager there to look for them. If it doesn't install automatically, force it to by manually selecting it.

If you have absolutely no idea what I am talking about I think I can zip up the driver set contained in the setup file.

I have borrowed a webcam from a friend. I have now finished with it and uninstalled the software, well i thought i did, until i found a folder called logitech gallery and image studio in prgram files and on the all progarms list, i can't seem to find an uninstaller for this though. In the add/remove programs list, it doesn't give me the option of uninstalling or removing it, and a logitech book icon is in my computer, and when i right click on it, there is no delete option, can anyone help an annoyned person, who just wants to uninstall an unsed program that is not mine to keep, thanks, Rhuddlan.

Answer:Logitech webcam software

have you already uninstalled it via add remove?a lot of programs leave behind debris like shortcuts and folders.just delete the shortcuts and the folder/s left behind.if there is something that doesnt want to budge maybe try re installing everything again and then try add remove once more maybe.

I am considering purchasing a Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 HD. I see from Logitech's own site that the system requirments include speakers. I currently do not have separate, external speakers, for sound I use the speakers built into my Digimate 19" LCD screen, which my HP Pavilion PC running Win7 happily connects to. Can I use the Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 HD via my LCD screen's built-in speakers, or are separate external speakers essential, (as opposed to preferred)?

Answer:Logitech Webcam Pro 9000

As long as they produce enough volume, you can programme skype/Logitech webcam to use those as default. Great choice of camera, by the way.

Email is recieved using a POP account (post office protocol) and sent using an SMTP (simple mail transfer protocol), no doubt the settings in the webcam software aren't setup correctly, they should match those used in Outlook \Outlook Express, if you use neither on your PC and instead use an HTTP agent such as yahoo mail or MSN mail (Hotmail) then you will need to ask your Internet service provider for what they should be.

As an example I use NTL broadband so my details are

pop.ntlworld.com
smtp.ntlworld.com

Others will be in the same format as this.

I can't seem to get the cam to come on. I plug the cam into the USB port and I see nothing that tells me the cam is active. The instruction booklet states if you are using Windows 8, the software required is downloaded automatically when you plug the cam in and installed silently in the background. I'm new to Windows 8 and am totally lost trying to figure out this new OS. I did manage to figure out how to get to the Device manager and looked at Imaging devices and it shows up there and says it's working properly. I can only assume that the issue has something to do with the built in cam and that it may have to be configured to override that one. If anyone can lend a helping hand, I sure would be grateful. Thank you.

Answer:Skype & Logitech webcam

One of the main problems that I found was feed back from the loud speakers situated behind me and facing straight at the microphone. I got round this by switching of the mike in the webcam and using my house phone for sound. To do this I used an Actiontech box costing about £25.00 . Now I can make excellent contact arround the world.

Hi all, this one has me totally foxed. Just bought above item, installed software, camera works (sort of). I can take a photo and camera shows correctly on screen with moving pic, however, the moment I try to do anything else the program freezes and after a couple of seconds Not Responding appears in the Window frame.
If I attempt to change Resolution - Not responding
If I attempt to change from Photo to Video - Not Responding
Even just closing the window via the red X top right - Not Responding, have to click on X continuously until window closes.
I have been in touch via email with Logitech and have followed their instructions 'to-the-letter', still no difference.
Made sure everything on laptop (still quite new), including Nvidia drivers updated, with Win7 totally complete with all recent updates successfully
installed. I have removed some programs that might have been causing conflicting - all to no avail.
I would be grateful for any clues or suggestions as to what I might try next.
TIA .........

I'm wondering how best to get it out of the computer. System restore isn't working after my one success with it a few weeks ago, so I can't use that. I was hoping logitech might have one of those removal tools like the antivirus companies have, but I couldn't find any.

Hi,

Install the latest driver using the Device Manager. Right click on it, Update driver software, browse My Computer, Let Me Pick, Have Disk, Browse....Now find and double click the .inf. Click ok then next and it will install.

You can find the driver extracted folder in one of your user variable temp locations, when running and before closing the normal installer, most likely.

My sister has a Logitech Quickcam Messenger. She is using messenger 6.2 and I was using 4.7. She was able to connect to me on voice but when she tried to turn her webcam on, it said my version was outdated for that feature. So I installed 6.2 and now we have video, but no voice. She has the same problem with her father-in-law in Greece, so this seems to be a messenger issue, as they were both on 6.2.

What is Advanced SystemCare? If you think it's causing a problem try uninstalling using Revo Uninstaller.

I bought a Logitech Webcam C250 recently. When I first plugged in the USB cable the system recognised that something was plugged in because an alert sounded, but it didn't trigger the Found New Hardware Wizard.

I unplugged the webcam and tried to install the device from the Logitech disk. I came to the screen asking me to plug in the USB cable, which I did..and waited...and waited, but nothing changed it just kept on asking me to plug it in. So I tried different USB sockets (ones that were definitely working okay). Still no change. I clicked 'Skip' to complete the software installation. The software is now installed but the system cannot 'see' the webcam. The Logitech dashboard tells me that there's no webcam to be found and invites reconnection. But clicking 'Reconnect' does nothing.

What can I try to solve the problem?

System information: Windows xp Home edition version 2002 SP3.
Intel CPU 2140 @ 1.60GHz
Gigabyte Intel 945 S-series motherboard utility

Answer:Logitech webcam not 'seen' when plugged in

Usually with USB devices, especially printers, it is stressed to install the software before plugging in the device. You did it backwards and I suspect that created a problem.
Contact Logitech support and ask how you can cleanly "uninstall" the webcam that is not detected, telling them that it was plugged in before the software was installed.

- which is a bit odd..

I uninstalled the XBox App from the Start Screen, just in case the webcam was defaulting to that software,
- but no luck yet.. (??)

I have a Logitech Orbit webcam with mic - use mic for my computer courses and every sooften it decides not to work out of the blue.

Sometimes, well most, I unplu it plug it back and and comes up with USB device not reconized blah blah blah then other times unplug plug back in works great.

I have read this a problem do to Windows Vista and lots of people seems to be having same problem - anyone with any ideas of fixing this as when it decides not to work it is VERY flustrating.

I think my next webcam/mic will not logitech as their support staff hate to say it SUCKS!!!

It presumably worked on you brother's PC right up until he gave it to you?????
When you say he gave you the software, this was a disk that originally came with the camera???? And you used this disk for the installing???

You can go to logitech's site here and try downloading option 2 (driver robot to recognize your connected cam). Click on the cam image. If you're using XP it should open up your install wizard once you run the file from logitech. Take it from there.
