Microsoft Wireless Laser Keyboard 5000 conflict

Question: Microsoft Wireless Laser Keyboard 5000 conflict

I have a new Packard Bell Imedia A5518 UK computer with AMD Phenom 9650 Quad-Core Processor, 4.00.GB Ram, 32 bit Operating System, running Windows Vista Home Premium SP1.

I installed my Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse and Keyboard 5000 and Wireless Desktop Receiver 3.1, with a USB connection (a Xmas present from my wife!), instead of the wired mouse and keyboard which came with the computer. The wireless mouse works perfectly but the keyboard doesn't work at all. I have tried to find information of conflicts with Vista on Microsoft Maze, but no luck, although there are many, many other conflicts shown on their website. I have also looked for any updated drivers, again with no success.

I am having to use the wired keyboard and mouse, but want to use the wireless set if possible. I would be grateful if anyone resolve this problem for me.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, i have recently bought a Microsoft Wirless Laser 5000 Keyboard from maplins. The keyboard works fine apart from the fact that the @ key and the " have switched places, the # key has replaced the pound sign key. which at the moment no button produces. the original # key now produces \. i suspect this has to do with the drivers. i have donwloaded the lastest drivers for the keyboard, but still the problem persists. Can you help me?

Hi People, very simple question. Maybe I could get an answer to my question that I should had asked when I was buying. This wireless mouse uses two "AA" batteries or rechargeable batteries. Question: What about turning it off for the night or whenever I leave my computer? So that I don?t change them every two-three days. Thank you for your help with such a stupid question.

Answer:Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 5000

The mouse should go into a low power mode so it doesn't use that much battery power.

formatted to no avail trying to solve this problem and found out unplugging this from the USB port made the Screensaver and all come on.

but I have yet to find a fix for it when it is plugged in, the HID Filter or whatever update did not fix this issue, if nothing else was probably responsible for it more then anything.

I even went into device manager power settings to disable them to wake up the computer and it didnt fix the problem either.

anyone got any ideas?

Answer:Screensaver dont come on with MS Wireless laser Mouse and Keyboard 5000

You could try taking the mouse batteries out. This will rule out that it is making tiny detections of movement even if unintended, while away. If the screensaver comes on, then you know it's doing this. Then, you can try lowering the dpi it uses, if it has that ability. Basically, test it out like this for a minute.

I had to replace my keyboard after 3 1/2 yrs since the keys were sticking and the letters worn off. I bought the Microsoft Wireless Laser 6000 Mouse with the wireless keyboard. It works great with one problem. If I enable "allow this device to bring computer out of Standby" for either the mouse or the keyboard, the computer never goes into a full standby. The fan is always running and so are some other parts of the computer. If I dont configure the mouse or keyboard that way, the computer will go into regular and complete standby but will need to be turned on with the power button to bring it out of standby. The Receiver is USB so Im thinking the reason the computer doesnt completly power down is due to the receiver needing to be active. Is there a work around or do I just stick with using the power button?

Answer:Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse and Wireless Comfort Keyboard

I'd stick with using the power button

When I type in Word 2010, frequently my keyboard will refuse to type. It will type a couple letters and then I have to wait to get it to go on. Then it will type a few more, etc. Another time it will type without an issue. Very annoying! I have changed the battery. Any suggestions?

Answer:Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard 5000 not working right

Try uninstalling and re-installing the driver that I assume you got with it, you could also check the manufacturer's website to see if there are any updates.

I picked up a used Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard 5000 off of Craigslist and really like it a lot - except for one very annoying thing - the function keys don't work as they are supposed to! Specifically, I always used the "save" function key (formerly F12 on my old, wired keyboard) and made things much faster for me when transcribing. Now, if I hit the F11 key (which is supposed to be the save key), it starts my transcription software (ExpressScribe) dictation and starts it in the v-e-r-y slow speed. What's up with that? It doesn't help if I try to reprogram the key - and yes, my function lock key is on. Any thoughts? I have to physically pick my hand up off the keyboard, go to my mouse and hit the little "save as" icon that I have added to my quick access toolbar ribbon (sigh) - really slows a girl down, ya know? Thanks for any suggestions!

Hello all,

I am having an issue here and I am not quite sure how to resolve it. I have a Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 8000 and I also have a wireless home network using a D-Link WBR-2310 wireless router. I am using Windows Vista, and when I am using the mouse with my computer and the wireless network enabled the mouse pointer moves very erratically and does not move smoothly at all. The computer is plugged in directly into the router with an ethernet cable, it is not using a wireless NIC card.

I am fairly certain this is from interference from the wireless router, i have tried different channels to see if I would get less interference but none of that seems to help any. There does not seem to be any settings for my mouse where i can choose what channel it is running on, it runs on Bluetooth. The wireless router is running 802.11g and as far as I know, this and Bluetooth both run at 2.4ghz.

Any ideas/suggestions?

I have just bought a Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard 5000, which came bundled (in one box) with a Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000. The box says they are both compatible with XP.
The keyboard started working the moment I plugged the supplied USB tranceiver into the computer, but I can't get any response from the mouse.
The optical LED beneath the mouse lights up, but the pointer won't move on screen and the mouse buttons don't generate a response either.
I have downloaded the latest mouse driver from the Microsoft website (and restarted the computer), put new batteries in, made sure any other mouse is unplugged, and tried the tranceiver in different ports, but to no avail.
With previous wireless devices there is a "connect" button on the receiver, but there isn't one on the USB device.
My assumption is that the mouse itself is faulty, but before I trail back to the shop for a replacement, are there any checks I can carry out to try to establish where the fault lies? Presumably as only one tranceiver is supplied, it should recognise both the keyboard and the mouse??
I've tried the solutions on the Microsoft help pages, but without success.
Many thanks.

Answer:Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000

Have you tried looking under the mouse as there could be a button you need to depress this to get the mouse talking to the USB dongle. Also double check that the batteries are inserted with the correct polarity.

I have this great mouse and it works okay with the generic driver with Windows 7. However the software it came with lets you program the buttons and also see the power left in the batteries and the wireless strength.

If I install the software it came with the scrolling is not adjustable. It's way too slow. I can't deal with it because the scrolling is so slow but I want the extra capabilities the software has.

I have tried other USB ports for the signal-sender it comes with, replaced the batteries, cleaned the mouse, ect......

I think it has something to do with the software or maybe Windows 7. It works fine in Vista.

Has anyone seen this? Do you know what might fix it? All I need is to make it scroll faster. Is there something besides the registry I can do?
EDIT: HERE IS THE ANSWER FOR ANYONE HAVING THIS PROBLEM.
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/windows7/support.mspx

Answer:Microsoft wireless mouse 5000

The Wireless Mouse 5000 is advertised as working on a wide variety of surfaces. Unfortunately, on every surface (rubber mouse pad, gel mouse pad, plain paper, desktop surface, etc.) the mouse will function normally for a while and then the pointer becomes sluggish and unpredictable. I initially installed the IntelliType 7.1 software that came with the mouse and tried the fix suggested by MS, which is to uninstall the 7.1 and install the 8.01 version of the software for Windows 7.

The mouse exhibts the same problems with version 8.01 as with 7.1.

I have one around 6 moths old. Recently it started sticking. Not just where my wife spilt something on the keys (she said she didn't but, you know....) but also the spacebar, backspace keys too. I often have to hit them three times before they type.

Are these things safely cleanable? Or should I just dump it and get another (keyboard, that is ; not wife,. Mind you...........)

I am considering purchasing the Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 7000 as the Logitech MX Revolution I have had replaced twice since I initially purchased it in Feb 2008 has developed the same fault again, i.e. The Freespin wheel has begun to wear out and as such intermittently the Freespin feature stops working, the last MX Revolution suffered the same fault and eventually the fault got worse. Very disappointed as otherwise I find the mouse to be goodAnyway that's beside the point:I was wondering if anyone uses the Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 7000, and the Intellipoint V6.2 software and could tell me if it is possible to set the mouse up with the Intellipoint software to allow the two buttons where your thumb goes to go back and forward a page on IE7 & Firefox?

Answer:Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 7000

I think you will find the software is upto v6.3 well thats what im using at this time with a 5000 and yes the buttons can be configured. The two buttons on the left side (thumbside) have been set to lower button (magnifier) top button (Back button)

Bought a Wireless desktop 7000 just after New Years Because I had issues with my Microsoft bluetooth desktop in Vista. I Had one hickup in windows 7 with this bluetooth set and found a driver updated and just had to roll it back and has been fine. So to avoid problems I went to regular wireless in the hopes to eliminate any issue. Well after using the new keyboard and mouse the mouse started to freeze and got progressively worse till it became unuseable. When it freezes the keyboard would stop as well but no disconect sound just freeze then come back. I figured bad desktop set so i put the bluetooth set back on and no problems. I put the other set on a laptop running XP and have been useing it without an issue all day so the set must be fine. I know My PC is way outdated but it actually runs 7 perfectly even with dreamscene on. My usb is the SiS 7001 controller and i've tried drivers new and old, switching ports, resyncing, new batteries, every power save option is off, still the same issue. Funny is that the bluetooth receiver requires 400mA of power and the regular wireless receiver says only 100mA, so it can't be a power issue. I'm lost, i got a brand new keyboard that i can't use. Any help is greatly appriciated.

Answer:Microsoft Wireless laser desktop 7000

Hello CuzzinChris, Welcome to the Forum.

If I understand your post correctly, there are 2 sets of wireless input devices involved here.

First you had a MS Bluetooth set. Then you replaced that with a MS wireless set. Is that correct?

If so, did you completely uninstall the old Bluetooth devices from the Device Manager before you disconnected them from the computer? This sounds a lot like conflicting drivers.

I recently replaced my old keyboard and mouse with this Microsoft system. I am having a problem with the volume control buttons on the keyboard not working. The Mute button works fine, as do all of the other Special function buttons. Pressing the Volume Control buttons does nothing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software several times. Trouble Shooting the system says everything is working properly. I have checked everything I can think of, but the problem persists. It does seem strange to me that the Mute Button works, but the Volume buttons don't. Can any one suggest something to check or a setting I may have missed? Or do you think I've got a bad keyboard that I need to take back for another one. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

BTW I am using Windows XP Professional.

Thanks,

I just ran my Microsoft Windows Update a couple of days ago which included Microsoft - Keyboard - Microsoft USB Dual Receiver Wireless Keyboard (Mouse and Keyboard Center). I think this is the culprit causing my problems. Now both my mousepad on my laptop and my mouse are active at the same time and I am unable to uninstall or turn off the mousepad. I've tried uninstall two different ways and neither worked after restarting and shutting down as per instructions. It is driving me crazy because it is extremely hard to type as the cursor will jump on the page and insert my typed letters into the wrong place. I have to get it uninstalled! Typing this is a nightmare and I am not dragging my thumbs on the pad or touching it in anyway. Any suggestions?

This is my first post to this forum, so excuse any mistakes I make out of ignorance.

I am a writer and experiencing right-hand disability issues due to computer use, so I installed TalkIt TypeIt Ultra 2 \/oice recognition software. I like the software. So far, so good.

I also had to get a USB microphone (Logitech USB desktop mike) and that's when the fun began. Tried a head-set mike first, but it could not "get" me clearly enough. Anyway, there appears to be a conflict between the mike and my keyboard (happened with the headset mike, too). It's a wonky conflict that comes and goes. If I could just figure out the pattern, I could adapt to it, but it seems unpredictable to me at this point.

Keyboard: Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000

Problem: Intermittently, suddenly the \/ key won't work (like now, so I had to make it using a backslash and forward slash) and also the 1/exclamation point key does not work (though the 1 on the numeric keypad does). These appear to be the only keys that don't work. I can get by without the 1 since there is the keypad, too. Most writers don't use exclamation points. But the \/ is kind of necessary. You'd be surprised how many words use one. Also, the shortcut to Paste is really nice -- but I can't use it now.

My only work-around at this point is when it won't work, I turn on the microphone and speak the word with the \/ in it, and it types it just fine. Extremely irritating.

I currently have two PC's with wireless keyboards and mice. One is a Medion and the other a Microsoft 1000. The Medion has a function to change the wireless channels in the event of a conflict, I am not aware of that function on the Microsoft 1000. A third PC has wired keyboard and mouse and my intention is to have this one also to have wireless Keyboard/mouse. Has anyone knowledge of possible conflicts?

We just recently purchased a new computer but am struggling to get our printer installed.  My printer works on my desktop ( I work from home so yes I have a desktop).  The printer also works with our other laptop via USB. Something happened sometime back that disrupted our Wi-Fi connection so I just never got it back up and running.   Anyway, we have this brand new laptop. I have been on the Support website and downloaded the drivers. save the files to the computer , unzipped them and executed the setup. The printer shows on my computer but it still says the drivers are missing.  It doesn't work hooking it up to the USB port etc....

I am ready to send my new computer back...so frustrated.   Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The mouse works fine but the keyboard is now completely non responsive, i've fitted new batteries and have followed the connect instructions but nothing.
The operating system is Vista and by using the on screen keyboard can log in and checked to see if the keyboard is working and the message is YES.
I have purchased another keyboard and mouse ( Microsoft again ) but still the same thing no keyboard, i'm guessing now that it's not the wireless keyboard but the PC itself any ideas please.

Thanks

Hello Stefano,
Do remember whether you had installed the optional windows update called " other hardware Hid Non-user Input Data Filter" ? This optional is specifically for wireless mice and keyboards. If you don't have that, it could be the root of your problem.

Answer:Microsoft Wireless Keyboard Problem

Could be that the PC is too old to accomodate a wireless keyboard.
Check that the powersupply for that keyboard-sender is ON before you boot.
You sure it's wireless PS/2 and that the keyboard is not also USB?
If so, check USB settings for keyboard in BIOS.

This isn't a keyboard issue, it's your video driver. They probably have a hotkey that inverts the screen image.

since you said that the you have successfully paired your mouse this means that it shouldnt be a driver issue (this is a bluetooth pairing correct?) at least with the bluetooth dongle...
is this the first time you pair the device or have you paired it before with another OS in the another system (prefferably a Windows Vista) and can you confirm it works?

I upgraded my keyboard, from version 1.0., that was sticking. The old keyboard had two leads from the receiver that went into the small, round keyboard ports (I think). The new one has the receiver plug into the USB port. The problem is that I can't get keyboard control until Windows has booted up. This is a problem because I need the Enter key to make an OS choice during bootup. I am having to use the old keyboard to get to Windows when the new one takes over. Hardly ideal!. Suggestions, please?

Answer:Microsoft Wireless MultiMedia Keyboard 1.1

I have the same problem with my wired keyboard which is USB. I keep an old ps2 keyboard handy for when I need to go into setup. Theres probably an easier answer but I don't know what it is.

Hi,
I recently purchased a "new" computer [2nd hand - but reformatted] - Dell Optiplex GX280.
I have only recently connected a wireless keyboard to it [it was a keyboard/mouse combo I used for years on my old computer with no hassles but the mouse didn't scroll up nicely anymore - just worn out - so now I only have the wireless keyboard from that set].
I also attached a new Logitech wireless mouse that works fine.
My problem is this; when I first connected the keyboard, it appeared to work fine - but ALMOST none of the extra features worked; I figured that was because I hadn't installed the driver yet - so that is what I did [Microsoft intellitype pro 2.2].
BEFORE I installed the "necessary" driver, some of the specialty keys worked [email, for example]; after installing the "necessary" driver, only the basic keys work - none of the extra [multimedia] keys.
Anybody have any ideas?
It seems weird that installing the relevant driver would reduce funtionality, rather than improve it.

Answer:Microsoft wireless multimedia keyboard 1.0A

After reading another forum, I just happened up on one liner that solved my problem.
The receiver has 2 jacks; a USB for the mouse [that I no longer use - as previously mentioned] and a purple PS-2 jack for the keyboard.
I read in the other forum that you could use just the USB jack to power both. So I removed my $22 PS-2 to USB adapter from the keyboard jack and plugged in the USB jack [which hadn't been plugged in because it was solely for the mouse [or so I thought].
Now the multimedia keys work fine.
Gee, thanks Erwin0265 for solving my problem - lol.
Seriously though, I hope that this post may help others having sinilar problems.
Cheers
Erwin0265

I recently purchased the wireless keyboard and mouse. The mouse shows a red light underneath, (purpose unknown) but this light flashes all the time including when the computor is not in use and every thing switched off, obviously using up battery power. Is this a fault or can this be expected. Any ideas please.

I use Windows XP Sp3 on my desktop computer with a Microsoft Wireless Multimedia Keyboard 1.0A. After having tro re-install XP, I have lost the use of the My Documents, My Pictures and My Music buttons although the WebHome and Mail buttons still work. I don't appear to have a software CD for it and it was pre-installed by my computer supplier. Can anyone please tell me how I can bring the dead buttons to life please? Do I need to get software for the purpose? I couldn't find software on a Google search.

Answer:Microsoft Wireless Keyboard Buttons Dead

Yes, you need to install the keyboard software to access any special keys.

The software you need is a free download from Microsoft called Intellitype: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26949

Have you tried new batteries and pressing the connect buttons on both the receiver and the keyboard? Have you installed the Microsoft IntelliType software: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/m...ion=IntelliType Pro 6.2 32-bit for Windows XP

Do you also have a wireless bluetooth mouse? Does it work?

Hi,
Just started with windows 7 coming from XP (same PC, fresh install of Win 7)

I've had my USB Microsoft Wirless multimedia keyboard and mouse for a few years now and it has never let me down.

I have not installed any specific drivers for it, on Win7 it was working from the off so i left it at that.
But on two occasions, although the multi-media keys still work (open explorer, email, volume etc) the alpha and numeric keys stop working. Windows gives me a "dink" sound when i press them but nothing actually types in a search field or whatever. (in fact for some keypresses other things or messages start popping up from IE8 for example like the key mapping has gone crazy).
On the first occasion this happened i was installing a game (Call of duty world at war 2) and noticed the problem after the install had finished.
The second time I was ripping a Blu-ray to my HDD with CLown_BD, ANYDVDHD etc.

Although I didn't realise it at first, the mouse has also been playing up in the form of not working when i double click to open a file, instead it opened a properties window.
Only a re-start cures these issues when they happen.

I've checked the batteries so its not that.
Checked microsoft updates relative- no joy.
Checked the "update driver", but windows found no better driver than the one being used.
Installed latest intellitype software too.

Any ideas??

Answer:Microsoft wireless keyboard working intermitently

I have the same exact mouse&keyboard as you. I've been using them since beta and they've worked fine for me. For me I simply plugged the receiver in, and let it DL and install the drivers on it's own. No extra maintenance or drivers necessary. (also all of my keys function perfectly) I have several games downloaded to my computer as well. btw I think you mean 'modern warfare 2' They might have gone bad somehow. :/

I purchased the Microsoft Wireless MultiMedia Keyborad 1.0A and the Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse package 12/03, and absolutely love the freedom it gives me.  Lately however, the keyboard does not respond properly when I depress the keys.  I must constantly move the keyboard to a different location (for instance, on my lap) to get the keys to work.  I put in fresh Duracell Coppertop AA batteries, but the results did not change.  Both the mouse and keyboard sit on top of my desk, with the mouse to the right of the keyboard.  The tramsmitter, which connects to the computer via USB wire, sits under the desk.  The mouse works fine.  This setup has not changed since 12/03.  Since I do a considerable amount of input via the keyboard, this is a major inconvenience.  Could the keyboard itself be the problem?  Any suggestions for resolving this problem?OS is WinXP Home with Service Pack 2, PIII 1.2G, 512mb, 80G & 20G HD.

It would lock up everytime I tried to type from the wireless keyboard that I have had for months before the trip to the repair shop. My PC will only accept a basic keyboard. I have downloaded the software driver from Microsoft but it still won't work.

All fixed thank you for your support! The keyboard was fried...I found out after I reformatted the drive and reinstalled windows and the basic keyboard worked and the wireless one did not.

Answer:Solved: Microsoft Wireless keyboard and Mouse

Nope, real easy. I have a Logitech set, and all it took was plugging it in to a USB port (mine has a 'base station' for the wireless mouse which is also the receiver etc), and installing the drivers. Then once installed, press the 'connect' button on bottom of mouse and kb. Yours is probably very similar.

Microsoft Wireless keyboard 6000 v 3.0/mouse 6000 v2.0

I have been having problems with my wireless keyboard and mouse on my new Windows 7 64 bit pc. Frequently, the transceiver goes in and out. Therefore I have to move the transceiver to another usb port. The products start working fine then I get the BSOD and have to restart my computer. When I restart, there are no more problems for that session.

However, when I shut my pc down for a period of time and start up again later in the day, I get the BSOD after like 10 minutes in. At that time, I have to start up my pc again. Which again, I have no further issues for that session. The mouse cursor stops moving right before the BSOD.

The drivers on the mouse, keyboard and transceiver are up to date. I have replaced the batteries. I dont know what else to do.
Could someone please help me?

I cringe every time I see the BSOD and have to start after improper shutdown. It is getting frustrating. I had no prior problems with my wireless keyboard and mouse on my old pc (vista).

I have an ASUS CG5290 desktop and it came preinstalled with Windows 7. I've managed to take a picture of the BSOD. Could someone please help?!?!?

Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated!

i recently got a new wireless Microsoft keyboard/Mouse combo. The mouse is too large for my hand. I do a lot of Photoshop and my hand is killing me, so I tried to install my old Logitec (comfortable) mouse. No go..
I downloaded the newest Vista 64 bit drivers for both. The Microsoft keyboard has a stick-type USB. The Logitec mouse has a little USB thingie that sits on the desk. Only one of them will work at a time.I've tried every configuration I can think of and can't get them both to work at the same time. The thing is, when I got this new computer (with Vista) they both worked together fine..until I installed a new video card. Now they won't play nice together at all.The mouse hangs once in a while and akthough I have set it to be as precise as it can be..it isn't.
My Wacom tablet mouse won't work either, or I would be happy using that.

For your Logitech mouse DONT use the microsoft driver, just download and install the driver from the:
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/su...oads/&cl=us,en
Advice:live some space between the resievers, especially if they are not a bluetooth is better to put them high for better signal. You can use a usb external cable.

I have posted before about this issue but i think i have defined it a little more now. What happens is that keyboard can always be used in BIOS but when I go onto Windows it does not work at all. If i boot using another keyboard the driver Standard 101/102-key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard is instlled automatically and then when i plug the microsoft k/b in it works fine. This driver cannot be downloaded i dont think. As soon as i reboot the driver is gone again and the keybaord doesnt work.
I tried the keyboard in another computer - plugged it in and it worked straight away. Can anyone see what to do?

it does not feel as smooth as my black logitech wired mouse that I was using before this.

Does anyone else have this problem? Could my tabletop be too shiny or something?

Do I need a driver update? Is the wireless receiver too far away/being blocked?

It feels like the mouse pointer on my screen "skips a frame or two" whenever I try to point at things.

I've tried to adjust the Pointer speed but that doesn't really help.

If it's the surface, do you have any recommendations for good mouse pads?

Anyone else have a similar problem?

Sorry for so many questions :-)

Thanks.

Answer:I have a Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0 (came with the Fingerprint keyboard)...

Personally i hate wireless. i had the same mouse as you, think i paid like 60 bucks for it and it sits in a box of junk with other computer parts from the stone age. have you ever tried to play a game with wireless? its horriable. they skip, get bad connections, and you constantly have to press the button on the bottom of the mouse then the button on the wireless tower to reconnect the signals, and the **** batterys make it pretty heavy.

As for the shiny thing, your right in the sense that the duller the surface the better the laser will pick it up. has to be dull and smooth for the best proformance.

Driver update i dont believe so all tho you can check microsoft and see. it could be to far away try moving it right next to your mouse for a short time and see if it gets alittle better.

For the pointer speed, wireless mice has really bad DPI compared to wire mice like Razors and higher End Logitech.

Hi all,
Does anyone know why a Microsoft wireless mouse / keyboard combo. would cause a computer to be very slow booting up? By slow, I mean many, many minutes. I think the wireless receiver says it's version 2.1 This is a friends computer, and I don't have it in front of me right now. It is a newer computer, with XP so there isn't a problem with it being short on memory, or processor speed.

Microsoft Lifecam 5000 Problem - I have read a lot of posts on the microsoft website when I googled the problem and I tried most of it. Nothing worked.

I have reinstalled drivers, software, tried different usb slots, RR computer countless times.

Basically - the computer knows that its connected and can see it - but then it wont work. For example - skype recognises that its a LifeCam 5000 and the light on the cam turns on for a bit, but no picture. It has worked before on Skype but now it won't for some reason.

The LifeCam software says that there is no webcam connected to the computer, which is also weird if skype can see that it is connected. So I am stuck.

Anyone have any idea's please!!

Answer:Microsoft LifeCam VX-5000

Hi Bob

Whats the Windows version you have and Service Pack (if applicable)?

What app are you using to view the webcam images etc?

Could try THESE steps in the meantime to see if they clear this up, basically its trying to update the drivers.

Also disable your security applications andthen try the webcam, possible a security app may block the live stream....

Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 3000 v.2.0 Favorites Open Firefox not in IE9.

How do I get the favorites 1,2,3,4,5 keys to open URL's in IE9 not Firefox?

Answer:Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 3000 v.2.0 Favorites Keys Open in Firefox not in IE9

Whatever method you use to open your web-browser, your default web browser will open. So you need to make IE9 your default web browser.

Or, if the keyboard was supplied with software, you may need to make sure that the keyboard is set to open Internet Explorer using that software's settings.

I am about to do a clean installation of Windows XP-Home Edition and am using a Microsoft wireless keyboard and wireless optical mouse. Until now, the receiver for these has been connected via USB, but having read other posts surrounding this subject, I have now connected via PS2 and everything is working OK.

I think that I should now be able to complete the installation without any trouble from the keyboard or mouse and that Windows will "recognise" them in the same way as wired items.

Am I correct here, or would the recommendation be to go down the "wired" route until the installation is complete ?

Answer:Solved: XP - Clean Installation. Microsoft wireless keyboard and Optical mouse.

I recently installed XP using the same rig, also connected to the PS/2 socket. It went fine, no sweat.

DELL INSPIRON 5000 & ext keyboard

I have a friend who has the above laptop and would like to be able to use a full external keyboard.

Does that laptop have a PS/2 port and if so can you just plug in an ext. board? Please register YourTraySpell

Answer:DELL INSPIRON 5000 & ext keyboard

I don't see why it wouldn't have at least 1 PS/2 port, and if so I also don't see why you cna't just plug the keyboard into it. That is what I used to do with my laptop.

According to DELL's website for the Inspiron 5000, it does indeed have a ps/2 port which can be used for either a standard mouse or keyboard. Shouldn't have to do anything but plug it in.

Good luck.

My Bluetooth mouse is not working. PC settings seems to see the mouse but cannot connect to the mouse. It tries but, the mouse willnot activate.

If the PC Settings screen says it sees the Bluetooth mouse but also says "offline", I remove it from the list. Then, I click on the Bluetooth icon then click on "add Bluetooth device". This sends me to the PC Settings screen where I click on "Add Device". It looks and finds the Bluetooth mouse then tries to connect with it. That process never completes. It shows the device but indicates it is "offline".

Has anyone had similar problems with the Bluetooth mouse or any other Bluetooth devices?

This is a bit of an issue for me because I have arthritic hands and it is easier for me to use a mouse than a trackpad or my fingers.

The laptop is an HP TouchSmart tm2. It has 4 gB memory and a 280 gB hard drive. Running Windows 8 Consumer Beta, Build 8250.

The mouse worked just fine under W7.

Answer:Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse 5000

I use that mouse with my VAIO SR290 notebook and Windows 8.

Try removing any instance of the mouse from Devices and Printers (leftover from previous attempts). Then turn on the mouse, press the little button on the bottom to turn on "discovery" mode, then try to add the mouse again.

Best of luck to you!
