Nvidia Riva TNT2 update drivers

Question: Nvidia Riva TNT2 update drivers

I am running a Vista Home Premium PC with a 32MB Nvidia Riva TNT2 video card.
I can't update the drivers for the card from any driver install pack I can find. I cant do it with Windows XP, either. Can someone help, so I can get the best out of my old card?

Preferred Solution: Nvidia Riva TNT2 update drivers

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Nvidia Riva TNT2 update drivers

Support for TNT2 ended quite some time ago. I'm surprised you can even make a TNT2 work with Vista at all. Even for XP you have to go into the legacy drivers and download one of the older drivers that still includes TNT2 support from the nvidia website.

Hi all, my neighbour who's PC runs on WindowsME had the following message appear when he started his PC up tonight.Error 0D000000F0. Then something about a video driver failing to load.In safe mode, I looked at the video drivers which where given as:NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64 x. I checked out the properties and it said the following:C:\Windows\System\NVDISP.DRVc:\Windows System\NVINI,vxdc:\Windows\System\vmn32.vxd [vdd.vxd]and RAGE PRO TURBO AGP 2X---------------------------------------------In Safe Mode, I tried the last 3 System Restores but each failed.Could someone kindly direct me to a site where I can download the video driver my neighbour needs. I think the driver would have to fit onto a floppy disk because I'm not sure if his CD drive works.I'm using a desktop with XP Home SP2 and a laptop with Vista on it.I do have a floppy drive on the desktop and a few floppy disks.I could not find the Last Good Configeration (I think its called)to try that. Many thanks,Mike

Hi. I was wondering...are the TNT and TNT2 drivers interchangeable? I need a Windows 2000 TNT driver, because the one supplied with the OS doesn't have Direct3D support :/...Thanks for your help!

Answer:RIVA TNT and RIVA TNT2 drivers interchangeable?

My guess, is Yes, they can be used. It definately isn't going to hurt to give it a shot, worst case you just uninstall. TNT2 was just before I began to pay attention to hardware.

I have a nvidia riva tnt2 model 64/model 64 pro pci bus videocard.
The other day I bought the follow up of MOH (sorry forgot the name because returning it to the store)but ofcource you already see the problem rightaway:error log file of the game told me the card was missing out on some functions. Can this card be updated so "heavy duty games won't be a problem in the future?(il2/fb-wolvenstein-cfs2 run good though!)

Thanx for listening!

Answer:nvidia riva tnt2 model 64/model 64 pro update wanted can get the latest drivers for the card, but it won't help that much, because it's a TNT2...and PCI....

If you wanted to play newer games, you'd have to get a new video card....but if you're running a PCI video card right now, then it may not be worth it...check if you have an AGP slot, is should be above the PCI slots on the motherboard, and slightly offset from them...if you have an AGP slot, then that's good, because you could get a good video card...but if you don't, you'll probably be better off getting a whole new system rather than just upgrading the video.

I'm putting a new motherboard in my PC (Asrock p4v88) and in the instructions for the board is a note (do not use a 3.3v AGP on the AGP slot of this board). I hope to fit my old video card into the new mthbrd, it is a NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 64 PRO. I haven't a clue what the voltage is of my video card. Can I fit this old card in or do I go out and purchase a new video card of a known voltage?

Thank you
Donald Ashton

Answer:Need The Voltage Of My Nvidia Riva Tnt2 64 Pro

I don't recommend using that card in that machine. Not only is there a risk of it damaging the slot, it's also an incredibly old and slow card, if your new motherboard has onboard video it is likely faster than that TNT2-M64.

I continue to get intermittent screen messages that I have a problem with my Nvidia graphics driver, occasionally causing shut downs and generating error messages to microsoft.
Although possibly completely unrelated, I also find that my computer shuts down on its own if left alone about 30 minutes, and when turned back on, goes through an odd reboot on its own whcih returns me to where I was before leaving.
The microsoft proposed solution is to download a new driver off the Nvidia website though they also say Nvidia has no solution to the problem. When I go to the Nvidia website, I can find a downloadable driver for XP. ( , though the instructions request me to:
1- disable download accelerator utilities ( How do I find if I have any? I recall loading one at one time, but can't remember if it was on this computer, or find anything suggesting this on my start menu)
2-turn off my virus protection- can do
3- remove Nvidia display drivers from the control panel using the add/remove function.- I can't find any. However, I do find reference to them in my systems folder listing a TNT2 nmodel V dated 4/7/04. It seems odd that I have a listing in the latter, but not in the former. It also seems odd that they would request the removal of the old one first. Will my monitor work if its removed??
Thanks for any assistance

i can't even bet a boot with a nvidia riva tnt2 model 64 w/8mb ram on a MainBoard TXpro-II or a knock-off replica thereof. funny thing is: the card workes fine in another comp with a diff mobo (this one, a spearfish with a xeon 450 pentium 2) and to add to insult, a couple of old junk video cards WILL work in the TX-proII. i also have an Aopen socket 7 mobo i could use for this system but the exact same story applies: the junk video cards work in it but not the tnt2 card which i just bought. by junk video cards i mean they have bad memory chips on them and they have garbage mixed in the on-screen display which makes them kind of useless except for getting a system to boot at all. if it matters they both have S3virge chips on them. running win98 fully updated with ie 5.5 also fully updated. have the latest nvidia drivers avail but of course haven't gotten that far. i did, however remove all the old drivers from device manager and found no nVidia references in the registry to delete at all. any clues would be highly appreciated. thanx, JL

I recently reformatted my computer's harddrive, and I've been working on getting everything back to it's normal working order. I'm having issues with my video card. It should be installed correctly, I haven't taken it out at all, and it worked a while before the reformat. I think I have the correct driver installed (This one).

But when I plug the monitor into the video card's plug, the monitor won't show anything, it's just blank with the little light, normally green, glowing orange. When I go to the System Information, the only video card that shows up is the one on the motherboard.

Am I using the correct driver? Any other possible solutions?

Answer:nVidia Riva TNT2 Model 64 issues

G'day Redalert95, I gather you have onboard video and that is working but your card is not. It is not a good idea to plug video leads if the machine is running, it could quite easily kill something.
It is possible that you may need to disable the onboard video in BIOS to allow the daughter card to operate.
This makes it odd that it may have changed from previous settings which were apparently working OK.
If this might be correct it may be pertinent to replace the battery at this time before going any further.
Your board manual BIOS settings should help determine what is happening. In some machines if you plug in a video card the onboard is automatically disabled, but your note does not infer this to be the case, therefore it seems you are going to have to carefully follow the BIOS set instructons in the manual. You likely have an onboard enable somewhere. The LED showing orange instead of green simply indicates no information is being received by the monitor.
You should not need any driver to be loaded to give your card operation for the monitor to operate in a basic mode.
The proper driver will only give the thing all the colours and abilities you are used to normally seeing.
Be extremely careful and ensure the power lead is removed anytime you plug items like cards, and ensure your follow antistatic rules.
Cheers, qldit.

If you are still using this old video card in your Windows XP desktop(like I am in one of mine), the NVIDIA ForceWare 61.77 and 66.93 drivers are the ones that you want to install and use. If you try to install and use the 71.84, 71.89, or newer versions, they will NOT install. I have done some experimenting and have confirmed this.

Hello Experts,

I have purchased a Graphic card PALIT DAYTONA nVIDIA RIVA TNT2 M64.

I am going to install it in GIGABYTE P4 Titan GA-8IRX, REV: 2.0, DDR RAM, motherboard. This motherboard support only AGP 4x (1.5V) card due to Intel 845 chipset can’t support AGP 2x(3.3V).

nVIDIA RIVA TNT2 M64 card has a jumper port JP1 which is open. Is it AGP 4x mode by default? Or I have to set jumper to make it AGP 4x.

Please suggest me how I install the card in the above-mentioned main board. I am waiting for your advice soonest possible.

Thank you.

I've downloaded and installed the Nvidia 61.76 video drivers(the most current version for 98SE) for this video card, but it refuses to get out of 16-color, 640 X 480 resolution mode. Every time I start up and Windows loads, an error message appears with the following:

There is a problem with your display settings. The adapter type is incorrect or the current settings do not work with your hardware.

Any suggestions?

Here is my current hardware configuration:

I have a problem with Direct draw. whenever i try to test direct draw thru dxdiag, my screen flickers a few times and the my computer hangs. I have now diabled direct draw acceleration. I have tried the latest Nvidia Detonator xp drivers (2.1.83) as well as the default drivers that came with xp. There is still no difference.

I could use direct draw and direct 3d with the same hardware setup on my previous system, Win ME. All the directx games ran fine there.

Please let me know what the problem is as this is the only glitch in an otherwise impeccable system..

Couldn't find a quick answer to this but if the "old" machine runs okay as it is then it should have no problem with the TNT2 card. They are a pretty old card and were designed for the machines of the day which (by today's standards) were pretty slow and didn't need a huge amount of power to get them going. Answer:RIVA TNT2 Model 64

125/150 (core and memory frequency, respectively) is usually the standard for a TNT2 M64. Examine the memory chips carefully; these can be the key to why the memory is set lower than normal (usually, look for special numbers for the memory cycle time, e.g. a "70" might indicate a cycle time of 7ns, which equates to a default frequency of 143 MHz).

Answer:Nvidia TNT2 M64

some of your ram might be should pickup the whole thing or not at all.I have a tnt pro 2 with 32mb.
try removing it puting your old card back in restart then shut down and put the tnt back in and make sure it is in evenly and firmly pushed in if it's not you could have problems.and then restart again.reinstall the drivers.
All internal work must be done with power off.
if you changed from pci to agp make sure that enabled is set in the BIO for AGP. It should work but it is a little finiky if it wasn't pushed in just leave the case off untill you get it right because you might have to remove it a few times untill you get it right. good luck

I have an Elitegroup motherboard with SiS620 chipset, and I've installed a pci nvidia tnt2 m64, but now lockups occur in 3d games, and sometimes in the Windows GUI.

Sometimes alt+ctrl+del will get me out of it in the GUI; it gives me a blue "system busy" screen and then I can click cancel on the close program dialog and everything's fine.

Sometimes it stays locked when I hit alt+ctrl+del, and it always stays locked in games.

I'm running the detonator 5.13 beta drivers, which are said to tbe the most stable. I have tried the latest drivers (12.xx), but with those the problem is worse because once it locks alt+ctrl+del never works, and the lockups are more frequent.

I've tried adjusting latency timing, looked for conflicts and tested power settings and everything seems fine... what could be the problem?

Answer:nvidia tnt2 m64

Wondering how you disabled your sis chip, this from the sis web site about adding pci card to a 620 system

If you add on a PCI VGA card on a AGP/Super AGP VGA based board (like 5600+6326, 530, 620), you
will need to set up the display priority. Every board maker has her way to do the setting. Some of them will implement
it in the BIOS, in the item "Integrated Peripheral","Initial Display First", you can choose "PCI slot". However some other
makers do the setting by jumpers, you need to refer to your manual or contact the makers for further help. The best
solution is to ask help from your board maker. However if you don't know who the maker is, you can track from the
store where you buy the computer, or ask any local pc dealer if they know there's a way to help you. After you
finish the hardware part, you can remove the our vga driver from your system. Please go to "Control
Panel","Add/Delete programs" to remove the driver. Please don't care about the exclamation mark that appears in the
Device Manager, if you have already install your second card successfully. It won't influence your VGA display.

Recently I bought this new v.card and can't play any games(like Urban Chaos, Age of Empires 2). I just start the game and it automatically exits in a few seconds. Sometimes it does start but then after some time of playing it exits again and the comp. crashes('hangs'). I could play these games with my old card though!
I have already downloaded the latest drivers and really don't know what to do else. Could it be that these games don't 'know' this card and don't want to work with it or what?

I have a Compaq Presario 5000 (5WV373) that had Windows ME and was working properly. I just formated the computer and installed Win 2K as a default installation. Everything is working properly but the Nvidia card. I couldn't install it. I only have 16 colors, 800x600.
This Nvidia card came within the Compaq and I lost all the installation CDs so I was at and I download the "56.72 winxp nVIDIA DRIVER" but it doesn't work. I execute it but when it finish nothing happened, the driver is not installed, the Nvidia card doesn't work.
I would appreciate any help to make this card work!!!!!

You'll need to download the riva drivers, not the geforce ones. Uninstall the geforce drivers BEFORE you install the rivas.
EDIT:I am wrong. I used to have a TNT card but it was years ago. Sorry.

You should try an older driver - the new ones have issues.

Try an early 40 driver or even the oldest one they have:

I have a PCI [not PCI express not AGP] Nvidia TNT2 card and need it to work in a dell dimension, Windows XP Home Edition.
I did what anyone would do... installed it, went to Nvidia site, looked up the right family [TNT2] for the OS, and downloaded this MONSTROUS 40MB file. When I run the install program it simply says "did not detect any appropriate hardware" and shuts down. The card does come up with the correct ID at boot time [correctly identifies what it is] and, with windows in SAFE MODE, the display is driven off the Card, not the onboard. The Windows OS again correctly shows the card in the Device manager [no bangs... calls it by the right names etc.]. So all that looks good, but absent the real NVIDIA drivers, when I boot into normal Windows XP, not safe-mode, it acts as though it is a two monitor rig. and unfortunately, the display from the nvidia card seems to be the #2 display, thus not exactly usable. Then I go to reboot, and the next time, it will not even display to the monitor once windows XP boots. very frustrating.

I NOTE that the Dell Dimension 3100 bios does NOT allow the option of shutting off the onboard. it only gives two choices "onboard" or "Auto".

So, anyone have a clue what's going on here?

OK, here goes. I have a 32MB Nvidia TNT2 Ultra video card. However MOST of the time, the system won't recognize it as anything other than a standard VGA card. Every now and then it'll actually show as the correct card and when that happens it works GREAT (for a while), then all the sudden it's back to standard VGA again.

This happens in 98SE and 2K, I have 2 older Rage cards that I have no trouble with. Unfortunately I DON'T have another machine that I can put this card in right now.

Have all the latest drivers (that I can find) for everything, problem has persisted through a reformat and reload.

Any help at all appreciated.

One thing you might try but it's a strech, download sisoft sandra and run the benchmark program, once in awhile it will show a problem and how to fix it. I haven't used it for a long time but it use to have a diagnostic that would check the systme bus, agp bus, etc.

Hi - I'm new to the boards and have a question I hope someone can help me with. I have an old Dell Dimension 4100 that is running windows me and it has an nvidia tnt 2 video card. My son recently purchased Call of Duty and it doesn't seem to work on this system. I keep getting an error message that I need to upgrade my video card. I think I need a pci express card, but I'm not sure so my question is how do I figure that out and can anyone recommend a video card that is not too expensive? The system is 6 years old and I really don't feel like investing a ton of cash into it. It does have 256 mb of ram, that I know as well as an pentium 3 processor, 20 gig hard drive (small I know in this day and age) and is running @ 933mhz. Thanks in advance for the help.

Answer:Upgrading an nvidia tnt2 card on an old dell 4100

You need an AGP video card.Given the age of your computer you probably only have an AGP 4x slot so I would recomend an ATI Radeon 9200 or 9250. anything more powerfull than that wouldn't give you any significant improvement due to the speed of your processer and slot. upgradeing your ram to 512 mb wouldnt be a bad idea either.
Video card:

regardless of what video card and ram you get that game will probably only run on medium settings due to your processer.

i currently have the 258.96 drivers and i see in the drivers website there is a new driver release update..

i'm not sure if i should update, since almost all the time, the only improvement i see in the release notes are for high quality games like Final Fantasy, Call of Duty, etc. that i don't play..

so what i am asking is, whenver there is a new driver release, am i supposed to just download and install it? that's what i have been doing all this time, but now i'm not sure...

people are going to say yes and update it always, cause it also usually fixes more than game problems!

i always say if it aint broke dont fix it

sometimes new drivers cause new problems
so unless your having a problem somewhere leave them alone
it would also be a good idea to backup the drivers you have now so you can go back if an updated driver causes problems

So I noticed there is a way to update the Nvidia drivers in the Nvidia Control Panel. It's under the Manage 3D settings - then Manage updates...
I did an update to 372.70 (from what ever the Win 10 Anniversary update provided).
I am just wondering if this is safe/recommend to do.
I dont seem to have any issues with detach and I didn't have to go through any of the other procedures I've seen posted on updating the drivers for Nvidia.

Answer:Nvidia Drivers Update

Welcome to Windows Central.
There should be no problems with getting drivers through the NVidia control panel since those would be official updates. What one should watch out for are the beta drivers from NVidia (which can also be downloaded through the NVidia control panel). These beta updates do not get downloaded through the Microsoft Update service.
Nonetheless, in my experience, Microsoft Updates for NVidia are somewhat delayed by a few days or weeks (or hours), but they most likely all ended up being the same update which is available through the NVidia control panel.

Hi guys:

I'm having since last Nvidia drivers update. Before this update i'd cleaned every fan inside the cpu because there was too much dirt.
I checked if i connect everything right and i did. Then i uninstall these drivers and no more BSOD.
This week i give it a try one more time. First 3 or 4 days no BSOD, but yesterday and today i have 2 BSOD.
Can anyone tell me what is wrong and how can i solve it?

Thanks in advance!!!

PS: i upload my Sevenforum diagnostic and i run it from safe mode.

Answer:BSOD since Nvidia update drivers

Hi tanocapo.

The earliest BSOD (of 12/10/13) is a stop 0x116, which is a graphics related issue. And we have noniced that all nvidia display driver versions later of 314.22 WHQL are troublesome. Install the NVIDIA DRIVERS 314.22WHQL only.
Uninstall All nvidia items in Control Panel > Programs and features3D Vision Control Driver
3D Vision Driver
Graphics Driver
HD Audio Driver
nvidia Update
(Are you using nvidia chipset drivers? If so, dont uninstall anything other than those are listed).
Now follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling
Download 314.22 WHQL. While installing, Select Custom (Advanced) install. In the next page, follow this settings:
But, unfortunately, all the later BSODs (including that one of today) is a stop 0x124, which indicates some kind of hardware failure.

Seeing the BIOS date, I am assuming that the computer is more or less 5 years old? (no update to windows 7 is available in ASUS's site)

BiosVersion = 1203
BiosReleaseDate = 06/25/2008

Answer:update drivers for NVIDIA software

Hi there,

Go to Add/Remove Programs, and remove anything nVidia. Then go to C:\ and right click on the NVIDIA folder. Tick the box next to read-only and click Apply. Then untick the box and click OK. This will reset the folder permissions. Now restart and try again to update the drivers. Also, make sure you are not using a "Limited Account".

Hope this helps.

I tried updating my nvidia forceware drivers recently. When I check the driver version in the device manager the old driver version is still listed. I tried uninstalling the current driver in the add/remove programs list and then installing the new ones again, but I still had the same problem. I've heard talk on some forums of programs like driver cleaner, but some people had serious problems caused by that software. I shouldn't need driver cleaner to simply update the drivers on my same old nvidia card, right? how can I get my system to recognize the new drivers? Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Answer:nvidia display drivers won't update

Uninstall the old driver in Add/remove programs in Control panel and then install new driver again.

So last night I get the bright idea to download updates from Windows Update. After all, they are supposed to be the authority on Windows software. If its part of Windows Update then it must be certified, qualified, scrutenized, and all of that good crap.

Well not so. I downloaded a SATA and Network "update" for Nvidia via Windows update. It said I should. I spent the rest of the night trying to figure out why my NICs quit working and my sound got all fubar.

To fix the nic driver thing, I had to delete the *.sys file for the driver in Windows/System32. (I found the details on this forum.)

The SATA fix was a little easier. I couldn't "uninstall" the update, but I was able to select the SATA driver (not the disk driver) in device manager (and you only need to pick one of them) and roll back the driver to the previous version. Specifically this fixed a problem a lot of people are having with the x-fi chipset.

Good luck,
And may the bits work with you.

Answer:Don't trust M$ Update for Nvidia Drivers

Mobo, gxf and sound card drivers are better left to the manufacturer. Once bitten twice shy.

i use the program "geforce experience"but it seems like i can download the drivers fine but when i get ready to install them(i usually do a custom install)it seems to randomly stop at some point when its installing them

the last time i tried installing them it was at "installing 3D vision driver"and the green bar thing went across all the way to the end but it didnt finish.i had the same problem with the last drivers i tried to download and install using geforce expierance using Windows 7

Answer:Problem with Nvidia geforce drivers update

What I would do is to uninstall via Add/Remove the Nvidia drivers, then download and re-install the drivers but not from within the geforce experience app as it may have gained a bit of corruption hence the stalling on install.

Latest Nvidia GeForce driver, just download the correct one for your Windows be that 32bot or 64bit

Okay so I was having a BSOD problem that ANTHONY pretty much told me how to sort out, good right?

I downloaded the driver for it and then I got a message saying "The contents of this file cannot be unpacked. The executable you are trying to run has been corrupted. Please obtain another copy of the file, and its integrity, and try again."

So I tried re-downloading, same thing.
Used a download manager, same thing.
Run as Admin, same thing.

Then I clicked on my connection on the far right of my task bar opened up 'Properties' and then 'Driver information' Navigated through all the options till I came across "Search your computer for drivers" Or something along those lines.

Hit search and see the file I've just downloaded as the only file to select.

Nope, It instantly BSOD's me...Done it multiple times incase it was just bad timing but apparently not.

Could someone maybe shine a torch of help into the dark room which is my Driver problem?

Thank's for reading.

Ok so I per normal started ipdating my Nvidia 1080 graphics drivers. It doenloaded and as always selected express install. It did the flash from desktop screen to black and back twice the third time for some reason it stayed black with the monitor saying no signal. I rebooted and it gets to the Windows logo then black screen no signal every time. I see everything like the hit F11 or DEL button to go to bios screen and can see bios. If I do the three interupt at Windowd logo screen I can get to the repair menus and can go into safe mode to desktop and do what ever there. I tried to system restore to before the video drivers update but it just after reboot goes back to no signal. I tried uninstalling the drivers with the same results. I am pretty sure it has to be corupted drivers as I can see the other pages and see safe mode desktop etc. I am truly stumped. Ty for reading and the time ya take to assist.

I have recently purchased the Ideapad y510p notebook, with dual graphics cards. Every time I try to update my drivers for my video cards I get this: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL This is extremely alarming to me, as I had the same error message with my old computer. I run Windows 8.1, and I need this fixed.  First, what does the error mean, and how can I fix this?? Thank you!

Answer:HELP I get error message when I try to update my Nvidia drivers!

hi Austin165,
Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
The IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSOD error may refer to a buggy device driver, a system service, a virus scanner, or a backup tool that is incompatible with the new version.
The error may also refer to a faulty hardware but since the error happens while updating the video driver, this is most likely a driver issue.
Just to verify, did you get the video driver from Windows Update,  Lenovo website, or from the Nvidia website?
Things that you can try:
1. Temporarily turn off any running antivirus software before updating the video card driver
2. Try using the official lenovo driver first and see if the update pushes through (see this link).
3. Remove any instances of the the Nvidia Driver first from the Control Panel (large icon view) > Programs and Features and reboot (this will force Windows to use a generic display driver). After the reboot, try installing the official lenovo display driver (see Step 2) and observe.

Curious to know where to go from here as far as installing drivers. I wanted to reinstall the most current driver I had for this card due to some weird performance issues i was noticing and most of my research online was pointing to a possible corruption of drivers. So,... i UNinstalled the driver thorugh Device Manager. Rebooted, and tried to reinstall the drivers with tons of dissapointment.

So far, I've tried DDU and REVO. Both in Safe Mode. Ive tried a different PCI slot on the board. I've tried a different card ( a 970 GTX ) card. And with that being said... most would assume that maybe the board is bad. However,... if i right click on display through device manager and let it install the best fit driver, it'll install one from 10/2016 build off Nvidia's site. And now... even tho it said it failed, through GeForce Experience, says that I have the most up to date driver installed. However, if I try and reinstall or clean install th driver, it errors out on everything.

Any other suggestions from peoples experience with this card and this OS?

Answer:Cannot Update NVIDIA GeForce 1080 Drivers

I would try running sfc/ scannow from an elevated command prompt to check for corrupt Windows files. From one of Brink's famous tutorials:

If SFC/ scannow finds and (hopefully) fixes any errors then I would try the install process again.

DDU is the tool many would use to resolve an Nvidia driver installation issue. Did you try the DDU process but first making sure you are disconnected (and don't automatically reconnect) to the internet? That should ensure Windows or GFE isn't trying to install a driver during/after the DDU process. Then I would launch the Nvidia driver install, clicking on clean install and putting a check box on only the graphic driver and PhysX.

Answer:how to update to new nvidia drivers Y570 GT555M

I experienced the same problem with my Y570. After much research on Nvidia forums I found out that answer is quite simple: GT 555M with optimus (shared Intel chip) technology is not supported with the latest Nvidia driver release. You can read this on Nvidia website before downloading the driver. We will just have to wait before they relese optimus compatible drivers. Also if you have a graphic performance issues, make sure to switch on your GeForce 555M card by with the small switch located at the right-hand corner of your laptop. Hope that helps.

I have an nVidia GTX-750Ti graphics adapter in my system. Yesterday afternoon, I checked the nVidia website to see if there were any new driver updates. There was, so I updated it. The version of the latest driver set is 378.49. Last night, Windows Update started downloading a driver with the version number 99.9.x, or something similar. I knew that wasn't correct, but there was no way to stop it.

Once the downloaded driver was installed, there was an immediate blue-screen crash. After that, there was a loop of blue-screens and restarts. This went on for several minutes.

There were other issues going on with Edge loading scam pages so I wiped the drive with KillDisk. I have a minimal Windows 7 Acronis TrueImage backup which I kept just in case. This is what I am running now. I also have a Windows 10 bare-setup image I created following the initial install in December.

I cannot see the point of restoring the Windows 10 image, and everything else I had, if an incorrect update is going to trash it again. I would think that the update system would be aware of what drivers were being used, and not try to change them if there was no need, and there really was no need.

So, I am in limbo and trying to determine what my next step is, if there is one. This is where the update pick-and-choose system would have helped.

XPS 14.  About 3 years old.  Ran the Intel Driver Update utility which told me there was a new driver for the Intel HD 4000.  But it goes to great length warning me that Dell has thier own preferred version and I should use that 3 year old version.  Nvidia wants me to update the Geforce GT 630M.
Is that just overkill warning?  I know I could always roll back but the warnings sound so serious ;^)

Answer:Update drivers (NVidia and Intel) despite warnings?

It is serious. You never use any driver unless it comes from Dell. They customize drivers for laptops and any updates must come from Dell. Laptops rarely need driver or bios updates. Sign up to be notify if Dell ever has any updates.

Windows 8.1 RTM added 10GB of Nvidia files to DriverStore.

My Windows 8.1 Pro x64 RTM clean install used about 16 to 17 GB of disk space. After installing Nvidia GeForce 326.01 drivers via Windows Update, the disk usage went up 10 GB!

Checking the contents of C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository folder found 37 nv* folders (totaling 10GB) containing Nvidia drivers, all with a creation date similar to date & time of Nvidia GeForce 326.01 driver installation through Windows Update. Probably explains why the Windows Update progress bar lingered at 0% for several minutes when the Nvidia drivers were being installed.

This didn't happen on the same computer with Nvidia GeForce drivers installation via Windows Update on Windows 8 Pro x64 RTM.

I noticed a similar inquiry posted on the Microsoft Community forums but no significant replies.

Has anyone experienced this? I'm inclined to just delete the folders.

Answer:Issues with W8.1 Nvidia drivers from Windows Update

Instead of remove these folders. Just uninstall the update:
Invoke Windows updates from Control PanelClick on Update History->Installed Updates then uninstall it (whatever the KB# is for Nvidia GForce)Go to and download the driverUse custom install from nvidia installer. On the next screen, select "Clean Install"
