Wireless optical mouse remote sensor

Question: Wireless optical mouse remote sensor

I read a few threads about the wireless mouse problem with KVM switch. I was thinking of using another wireless mouse remote with the same model number but when I tried my son's who has the same wireless mouse as I have: Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 2 model # 1007, it did not work. It has a different CMIll number and color. Is there any way to get the mouse to recognize another remote.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Wireless optical mouse remote sensor

It's interesting that when I found the same exact mouse with the same CMll number that it still would not recognize the different remote. So if you somehow misplaced your remote it would not work with any other mouse. You wonder why that is so?

Hello and many thanks for taking time to view this thread and I would like to thank anyone that takes the time to help me with this very very annoying problem.

I am running Vista OS, my laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1710

I cannot use the touch pad pointer due to having restricted use of my arm so the mouse is extremely important to me.

My mouse optical sensor stopped working altogether, so I brought a new HP mouse and guess what, the mouse buttons and scrolling wheel work but the optical red sensor light wont work. This is the 3rd mouse so obviously the system or something.

I have checked the mouse drivers are up to date but at a complete loss now if someone can please help.

many thanks again

Hi

I'm shopping for a wireless optical USB mouse for a notebook.

I'm just a little confused about how they are being marketed.

Can any wirless mouse be used on a notebook or is there a specific type that need to be used?

I don't want a mini model, I prefer the full size mouse.

Thanks

Answer:Wireless Optical USB Mouse

If your computer meets the system requirements for the device, it will work. It doesn't matter if the computer is a laptop or a desktop.

Lately I have been having problems with my Intellimouse wireless
mouse hanging up and the pointer acting sluggish and freezing.
Thinking it could be a driver problem, I uninstalled than reinstalled
it`s software but the problem persists. Battery level is fine and
installing new ones does not help. I recently purchased an 80gb
Maxtor 5000le external hardrive and ran a full backup of my C
drive. Is there some way this could have caused my problem ??
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:New Optical, Wireless Mouse

What OS as you need to go into Device manager to remove the Mouse and shut down or if it's a USB just plug in and then put the disc in when windows asks for it. DO NOT plug in a PS/2 mouse or serial mouse with comp switched on

I bought a microsoft wireless optical mouse (2.0A) and it didn't come with a receiver of any kind. I have been trying for hours to find out if I need a receiver. I assume that I do because it isn't working. Can anyone help me??

Answer:Wireless Optical Mouse

As far as I know, there are two types of wireless mouses. And they both require receivers. The difference lies in the way they are powered. One is powered via the mousepad and the other via batteries. Is it a second hand wireless mouse?

Answer:Wireless Optical Mouse Problems

From your description, I would guess that the system is picking up mouse movement when there isn't any???

Try turning down the mouse's sensitivity and see if that makes any difference. If that helps, then come slowly back up until you find the point at which it fails again.

One other thought, is there any other wireless device that could be causing interference?

My co-worker just got a new machine a couple of weeks ago. It's a Dell Precision T3500 workstation with the following specs:

- two dual-core Xeon W3530 processors
- 12 GB 1066 MHz RAM
- Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
- 320 GB 7200 rpm WD HDD
- nVIDIA Quadro FX580 512MB graphics card

The system came with a basic mouse, but the mouse being used is one that was already in place, a Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0. The problem is that many times several button clicks are required just to register a single click on the screen. My co-worker is getting pretty annoyed with it. I don't see any drivers for this mouse on the MS website or the Dell website, but you'd think Win7 would already have the correct drivers for this mouse, which worked fine on the previous laptop with Win XP Pro 32-bit.

Probably the correct driver but the sensitivity may need to be adjusted in the mouse settings. You can check the driver by typing device manager in search and looking at the mouse tab. If it is listed and doesn't have a yellow triangle on it, it is working.

I have recently started using an MS Standard Wireless Optical Mouse.
It works OK apart from one small problem. If I leave the PC at the Windows XP logon screen and the monitor turns off (as per the Power options) when the monitor is reactivated the insertion point has disappeared and cannot be made to reappear (eg. by clicking in the password area) so I cannot enter my or other users passwords to login again.

Answer:dell wireless optical mouse

In Control Panel, click on Mouse and look under hardware (I am assuming you have a USB or PS2 mouse to use).

Does a HID mouse show?

Is it enabled and trouble free?

In Device Manager, uninstall the driver and uninstall the device.

Reboot so P&P can redetect the device and install the drivers again.

I've got a wireless mouse (Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000) that has stopped working. The mouse itself works fine, but the USB receiver (Microsoft Notebook Receiver v2.0) doesn't seem to be connecting. When I plug it in, the light that indicates it's connected flashes briefly then goes off. I've tried changing the batteries, that doesn't have anything to do with it. Also, in the device manager under mice and other pointer devices, there's only one device. It's called "Alps Pointing-device for VAIO". My computer is a laptop, so I think it's the touch pad built into the laptop.

Finally, I've tested the receiver on other computers, with the same result. So it's definitely a problem on the mouse's end. Any ideas?

well ive' got this wireless mouse and just wanted to know if other peeps with it have the same thing happen with their wireless M$ mouse. first,my mouse doesnt turn all the way off when my comp is shut down or its idle for a long time. the laser just blinks every half a second or so.is this normal? also,it scrolls kinda jerky when i use the weel on it.any one else have that prob? and just curiouse, how long will the batteries normaly last in this one.i just got it yesterday so i was just curious. the jerky scrolling gives me a headache when trying to scroll while reading and if i just didnt end up with a crappy one by bad luck,im taking it back and getting a logitech or something, screw moneysoft. thanks for the reply

Answer:2 Q's about microsoft's Wireless optical mouse 2.0

It's normal for the light to blink... It's jerky... The batteries don't last long... I gave mine away and bought a logitech MX and couldn't be happier. Microsoft Intellimouse stink.

The other best choices based on experience are:

Fellowes optigel optical wireless mouse, (better than logitech and Microsoft)

Gyration optical wireless mouse, The range is killer, and can be used in mid-air, but kinda odd feel when useing on a mousepad.

I've just purchased a MS Wireless Optical Desktop 700 (Keyboard and Mouse) for my laptop, replacing a Fellowes Microban PS/2 keyboard and a Microsoft USB Optical Wheel Mouse.

My questions are (and I have RTM):
1. There is an rectangular window with a Battery icon beside it, on the Keyboard. It does not light up when connected. Does it only light up when batteries are flat, or going flat?

2. Also on the Keyboard there is a closed Envelope icon and button. Pressing it does not appear to do anything. I assume it is to connect to Outlook, Outlook Express or what?

3. How can it be programmed to do something, anything.

The MS manual is hopeless and doesn't mention anything re the above.
4 pages on Health warnings on using keyboards and Mice and not much else.

I hated the Fellowes keyboard. Really flimsy and badly designed legs that collapsed to a closed position at the slightest forward movement.

It is good to get rid of those cables to keyboard and Mouse.

Bazza

Answer:MS Wireless Optical Desktop 700 (Kbd and Mouse)

Was there any software with it? I have a Logitech one, have the same button with the envelope and I can adjust it to open anything, although the default is Outlook Express.

An educated guess with regards to the battery icon would be as you said, when it's going flat. Can you find anything on google, any reviews or anything?

Hi allI've been happily using an a4tech wireless optical mouse. I turned my system on today and the found new hardware wizard came up and the cursor wountn't move even though I tried tuning the mouse in several times. I used esc to close the HW wiz window but of course it still sits in the task bar. I tried every USB port on my system but all with the same result. I plugged the mouse into another system ( XP SP2, same as mine) and the mouse worked perfectly, back into mine and the same problem occurs. Are then any settings in XP that could have changed and created this problem. The device doesn't have any software or drivers it is designed to simply plug into a USB and off you go. Running Win 7 64 bit on a Dell laptop. Previously had an older MS wireless mouse that worked fine. Went to upgrade to IE 9, and the mouse quit working. After repeated tries at un-connecting/re-connecting the USB, restarting computer, all met with failure. The system still does not recognize the device in the USB port. Have tried other ports as well with same result.

Being an older wireless mouse, went and purchased a newer HP optical wireless mouse. No driver included to install (no software at all). Same results in each port tried (3 in total) as the previous mouse. Device not recognized and not installed. Plug and play is on per what I can find in the system. New batteries were tried for both devices. Placing the mouse and receiver in different distances between while hitting the 'connect' buttons did no change. verified the new mouse is on the compatibility list for Win 7 64bit. Tried running the troubleshooter but it takes me continuously to the device page telling me the device is not recognized and not installed.

Tried a system restore to yesterday, before I did the IE 9 upgrade/install (via online). Noticed System Restore said 2 windows updates were done at the time I did the IE upgrade. Completed system restore - no change for either mouse after trying all the above again, with system restarts as well.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I have an Acer Aspire 5105 laptop with Vista SP1 as the OS. Yesterday I bought a wireless optical mouse (Trust, MI-4920NP mini mouse) so that my young son could play some games on the compute without having to use the touchpad. When I inserted the USB connection, I was informed that the device was installed correctly, but the pointer does not respond at all to the movements of the mouse, and the touchpad remains the only means of moving the cursor.I've tried inserting the USB plug into other USB ports, but the result is always the same.I know that similar problems have appeared on the Vista forum in the past, but I've been unable to see how they were resolved.Florio

Hi,
I got a labtec wireless optical mouse and it doesn't work on my computer. I have got it to work on other computers, but on mine it just detects the usb device and the mouse pointer doesn't move. When I restart the computer I get a warning saying I should connect the usb device to the port on the rear of the computer, but that doesn't work either. I have tried switching channels on the mouse and I tried moving closer to the usb plug in, but neither worked. I am fairly sure I installed the software correctly for the mouse.

My computer is a Dell, pentium 4 2.0 Ghz, with 512 Mb RAM.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Thank You,
Andy Chepil

I'm starting this thread because I haven't seen anything that's quite the same as this problem. Using a basic Microsoft Wirless Optical mouse, IntelliPoint software (4.11). Over the last few weeks, it's started to jump, always a little down and to the left. If a document or web page is open, it causes it to scroll down just a bit when it does it. It's not opening or closing applications on its own, as others have done.

I've tried altering mouse pads, changing batteries, reseating the cables, etc. Driver version is 4.10.851.0. I can't find an updated driver for it, though there's an option to upgrade the software. Any other suggestions at all?

Thanks a bunch!

Hi,
Wasn't sure where to find support for these products so thought i'd try here.

I've just purchased a "Technika Advanced Wireless Optical Mouse".
It's supposedly plug-in and play so it doesnt come with any additional software. The problem is getting it to work with my desktop the mouse works perfectly on my laptop but everytime i plug the receiver into my desktop i get the message "USB Device Not Recognized". I've tried using different batteries turning the mouse off and on again re-connecting it to the receiver switching USB ports downloading additonal mouse drivers and rebooting my PC none of which made a difference.

I'm stumped.

Both my desktop and laptop use Windows Vista Home Premium.

Got it brand new, connected to my new Dell desktop and it started working.
Unfortunately, if I pause for a few seconds, like to read something or type,
the pointer momentarily locks in place. If I click it or move the mouse back
and forth, it immediately kicks back in and starts working fine.
But, that split-second pause becomes very annoying after just a few mins of using it.
Can you imagine having to click before using it everytime? Am I missing something
here? (scratches head)
I went into control panel, looked at settings, to no avail. If only I could find a "sensitivity" setting of some kind? I had to unplug it and re-connect the old mouse.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Hi,

I have a problem with this mouse where after I plugged in the USB (the mouse functions fine) the computer does not go into idle mode. For example, the screen doesn't turn off after a certain period of time; screen saver does not activate; my MSN does not go into IDLE mode. After I unplug the USB everything will work fine again. How do I fix this problem so that idle works with the plugged in mouse?

I have windows vista. HP Note book pavilion dv2000.

Answer:Notebook Wireless Optical Mouse 3000

There might not be much you can do. The only reason I say this is because I have had the same exact issue on a customer's laptop. The reason it wasn't going into powersave, or any idle mode, is because the USB adapter for the mouse would always be sending activity to the computer. There are different types of firmware to help this problem, however I have had much less luck with machines running vista versus XP.

Also, I've had the same problem with lots of linux machines.

I have a Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse v. 2.0a which is supposed to have very good battery life, but i'm forever getting pop up mesages telling me my mouse batteries are crtiically low, even a day after I replace them for brand new ones. I have the latest drivers for the mouse, but I keep getting the messages, some times many times in a day, sometimes once every couple of days. The battery level and signal strength are both high in the wireless mouse hardware profile in control panal. Is this a regular problem people have with these mice or is it just mine? Maybe someone had the same problem and knows of a solution?
Cheers!

Hello everyone

i bought a hp wireless optical mouse 2.4ghz yesterday

it is not connecting even though it is plugged in with new batteries

i got the message that USB INPUT DEVICE INSTALLED BUT STILL NO SIGN OF WORKING

plz help me

Thanks

Answer:hp wireless optical mouse 2.4ghz problem

Sometimes getting them to connect the first time is a major pain, just keep touching the little connect button on the mouse and the receiver (if there is one on the receiver)
I would make sure they are as close to each other as you can manage while trying to get the initial connect response.

Yesterday I purchased a new wireless internet keyboard and optical mouse package from the brand "micro INNOVATIONS", Model KB985W. This is the first time I ever got wireless keyboard and mouse so I was a bit puzzled when I first saw the receiver.

Anyways, I turned off my computer, unplugged the cables of my old keyboard and ball mouse. Than I saw the strange cables of my new keyboard and mouse, which apparently designed to connect the keyboard and mouse port together, which is than connected to the receiver. So I connect the new keyboard and mouse together and into my computer I put in some batteries into the new keyboard and mouse.

I turned on the computer and..... nothings working. Can't move mouse, can't even Ctrl+Alt+Del. Double checked the cables to see if they're secure and tight. Done. Checked if batteries are positioned correctly. Done. I even see the red light from my optical mouse.

I refer to the manual which gives me 8 instructions in case it doesn't connect right away.
1) Install batteries in the mouse properly
2) Install the batteries in the keyboard properly
3) Turn off the PC and connect the receiver
4) Turn on the PC and press the button on the receiver
5) Press the button underneath the keyboard leg
6) Press the button on the receiver again
7) Press the button underneath the mouse
8) Install the software (They gave me a CD)

Now I followed every single one of the steps to every last letter and step 8 is just patronizing since... Read more

Hi, everyone,

I just bought a wireless lap top mouse on Ebay and I am starting to regret that I did. The package does not have a model # or name but after some search I found that it was made by Tonzo Industrial Co.,Ltd. It appears to me, and this is just a guys but I believe this company is no longer in business as their site is down and the contact email is a hotmail address. I'm not going to email a hotmail address. I am including a link so that you can see what it looks like. http://tonzo168.en.busytrade.com/products/info/710089/Wireless_Optical_Mouse.html

Here's the problem - simply put - it doesn't work. It worked at first and then suddenly it would no longer move the cursor. I have done everything I could find in trouble shooting of other wireless mice. Including holding the button underneath the mouse, holding the button on the receiver, holding them both at the same time (to sync them) Checking properties in Device Manager (plug and play). Rebooting etc etc. The batteries are fine. Sometimes I can get it to move and inch and then it will stop again. I have taken the batteries out as well and reinstalled them. I've also tried several different surfaces with it. I don't want to spend the money to send it back as it was cheap in the first place. I think I might just buy a non wireless mouse for this laptop. This is too much pain for a company computer. Thanks for any help in advance.

Answer:Battery Life on Wireless Optical Mouse

No but I know a way of testing it! Take the mouse fully charged to a supermarket. Place the mouse on the conveyor-belt but comtinue to hold it so it doesn't move, but the conveyor does. Then just patiently tell other customers to use the next line......cause well.....you're busy. The conveyor will act as your movement.....
Time it until it runs outs. It'll only be a couple days.... :amazed:

I've had a DELL laptop for awhile and have long since had problem with the sporadic mysterious "scrolling mouse." SO far as I have learned, it is a known problem without a TRUE fix, thus I use an alternate mouse.

8 months ago, I began using a Microsoft wireless notebook optical mouse. And its been GREAT. However, 2 weeks ago it stopped working (or I should say 'connecting'). Changed batteries, no help. Seems to work sporadically, it will connect sometime and then I'll later get the error, "...USB device not recognized....One of the USB devices to this computer has
malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."

It then ceases to work. Other times, this message appears once I plug it in.

On the M$ support site is says to ensure that the hidparse.sys, hidclass.sys and hid(one I forgot).sys files are in the appropriate folder....done

I've searched other forums about this and didn't see a good fix for this....

Anyone with any thoughts?????
THanks in advance

I picked up a Gateway wireless optical mouse, Model # MR-0350T, with a receiver Model # RR-0403U, at a computer show.  When I connected the receiver to my USB port, my computer began the new hardware recognition process. I realized I did not have 2 AA batteries for the mouse and aborted the installation process.  After I picked up and installed the batteries and reconnected to receiver to the USB port, the new hardware process did not automatically commence.  The light on the mouse is lit.  However, I cannot get the mouse to function.  I do not see it in Device Manager, and have not been able to find a way to install it.  I tried dicsonnecting the receiver, rebooting and reconnecting the receiver, without success.  Apparently, I must obtain the specific driver for this mouse in order for it to function.  The Gateway site does not have a driver for this mouse.  Does anyone know who manufactures this mouse for Gateway, and where I can get the driver?  My OS is XP Professional.

My Standard wireless optical mouse refuses to scroll smoothly or at all if scrolled at normal speed in office programs, internet, e-mails, etc. If the wheel is spun rapidly it scrolls inconsistently with no control. Settings in Intellipoint 5.2 make no difference. This has persisted accross a full XP Home reload from scratch twice (HDD failure then Mb, CPU, etc upgrade) with all drivers updated and software re-installed following each XP reload. If a tailed Intellimouse optical is plugged into the PS2 port the scrolling for this is as expected - one or more lines per wheel "click". Mouse software is Intellipoint 5.2 (Version 4.0 tried without success). Norton WinDoctor run over registry. Manual edit of relevant key in registry tried. I found another link alluding to Power DVD causing this and a screen saver problem and so uninstalled Power DVD and mouse hardware/software. Screen saver and mouse (after software for the mouse was re-installed) both came good, the mouse only for a couple of days though.

I have tried shifting the receiver and switching transmission channels with no change. The hardware is less than a month old and batteries are good. All USB ports checked and ok, tried swapping USB ports with no change including different motherboard usb's and powered hub usb's.

I got this USB mouse for Christmas, so it's about 3 months old. I haven't had a problem with it until this evening -- it suddenly just stopped working. It's not the battery, because the red optical light thing is still lighting and whatnot when I move the mouse. The cursor is just not moving when I move it, and the buttons aren't working (I've tried using the touchpad to hover the pointer over a link, and then click with the Microsoft mouse -- nothing). I restarted the computer and it worked again for maybe 10 or 15 minutes and then stopped again. I don't like using my laptop's touchpad if I can avoid it, I prefer a standard mouse. Updating the drivers doesn't help, and I've also gone through the troubleshoot process, which also didn't work. I downloaded and installed the IntelliPoint software recommended by Microsoft, which also did nothing.

Apparently this is an issue with Microsoft mice, because there's a page on the Microsoft support website to fix the problem (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321122/en-us). I've gone through this process twice, and each time, the same thing happens -- it works for 10 to 15 minutes, and then stops working. I've had to go back with System Restore both times because the instructions tell me to disable my touchpad as well, which leaves me with no functioning pointing device until the System Restore fixes it. I've tried restoring back to about a week ago, long before the pr... Read more

Answer:Windows 10 has problem with wireless optical mouse and internet

This sounds like a common driver issue, where you need to update the hardware drivers on your computer to work. You could check with the manufacturer's website to see if new Windows 10 drivers are available. Download them and have them available before installing Windows 10.
I had an issue with having to update my display driver, which because the screen was drawing information slowly, it made everything seem slow.

(Sorry, I originally posted to the wrong forum!)I bought this mouse for my laptop a couple of months ago, and have to say that it has worked very well up until a few days ago. Now I find that when I use the roller wheel to scroll a page, it seems not to hold, and the page frequently jumps back, if that makes sense. With a 'normal' mouse, I'd just clean the ball and the internal rollers, but I've got no idea what to do here, or even if there is a way to resolve the problem. This mouse was not that expensive, and I don't intend replacing it just because the roller is not working as it should, but if someone knows how to fix it then I'd be interested to know.Florio

it does not feel as smooth as my black logitech wired mouse that I was using before this.

Does anyone else have this problem? Could my tabletop be too shiny or something?

Do I need a driver update? Is the wireless receiver too far away/being blocked?

It feels like the mouse pointer on my screen "skips a frame or two" whenever I try to point at things.

I've tried to adjust the Pointer speed but that doesn't really help.

If it's the surface, do you have any recommendations for good mouse pads?

Anyone else have a similar problem?

Sorry for so many questions :-)

Thanks.

Answer:I have a Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0 (came with the Fingerprint keyboard)...

Personally i hate wireless. i had the same mouse as you, think i paid like 60 bucks for it and it sits in a box of junk with other computer parts from the stone age. have you ever tried to play a game with wireless? its horriable. they skip, get bad connections, and you constantly have to press the button on the bottom of the mouse then the button on the wireless tower to reconnect the signals, and the **** batterys make it pretty heavy.

As for the shiny thing, your right in the sense that the duller the surface the better the laser will pick it up. has to be dull and smooth for the best proformance.

Driver update i dont believe so all tho you can check microsoft and see. it could be to far away try moving it right next to your mouse for a short time and see if it gets alittle better.

For the pointer speed, wireless mice has really bad DPI compared to wire mice like Razors and higher End Logitech.

Hello!

I recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and since then my wireless mouse has not been functioning. It appears as "2.4G Keyboard Mouse" (there is a wireless keyboard from the same maker as well that I am not using) but there are no setting I can access or anything like that. In the device manager it is labelled "HID-compliant mouse" and the driver for it is updated to the latest version but the mouse is not functioning.

The website of the manufacturer (http://www.serioux.com) is shut down and I can't find any original drivers available by googling so my question is if there is another "basic/general" driver that I could use to make the mouse work.

Best wishes,

Linus.

I am about to do a clean installation of Windows XP-Home Edition and am using a Microsoft wireless keyboard and wireless optical mouse. Until now, the receiver for these has been connected via USB, but having read other posts surrounding this subject, I have now connected via PS2 and everything is working OK.

I think that I should now be able to complete the installation without any trouble from the keyboard or mouse and that Windows will "recognise" them in the same way as wired items.

Am I correct here, or would the recommendation be to go down the "wired" route until the installation is complete ?

Hello. I am just trying to get some opinions on the subject of wireless remotes for a mouse. I can't believe it but someone on Amazon.com sold me a wireless laser mouse without a remote (MS wireless mouse 6000). Incredible.I have found that you cannot just use any remote to any mouse, even if it is the identifcal model. In fact, I have this same identifcal MS wiresless 6000 mouse but doesn't work with it. Is there something you can do to get them working? There is a section on Amazon.com where you click more and I guess that's probably where it said no remote. It sure wasn't made obvious-like in bold or something. He definitely intended to trick me. You have to completely read everything with people like that around. Not to mention, it wasn't even cheap.

I have tried to use a wired mouse and all works fine so I think the problem is a bios or windows issue.

Can anyone suggest me a way to resolve this problem?

Hi
I now am running a new machine which I got as BareBones, so had to fit various components and installed Windows 7. All went well and I enjoyed the new experience.
However, I have recently been a bit puzzled why, after shutting the machine down, it would seemingly switch itself on and boot up. This was without me touching the PC. Quite weird, I felt.
Yesterday, I discovered it was due to the USB mouse I use. I have used this mouse for a couple of years or so on my previous PC without any issues. I tested this 'theory' a few times last night. This morning I merely moved the mouse on the desk and the PC switched on and booted normally and the same again this evening.
The PC, monitor, speakers are all plugged into an extension lead which is designed to turn off all equipment that is plugged on it, when the PC is switched off.
Has anyone any ideas as to why this is happening with this machine, please?
Also, is there anything I can do to prevent the mouse being a 'remote control', short of removing the battery each time I switch the PC off and without buying another USB wireless mouse that can be switched off? Using a wired mouse is not an option, though.
Thanks for any suggestions offered.
Cheers

I am using a very cheap receiver from Amazon with the PC Remote Control drivers provided by Eventghost. From my other readings the best way to identify the remote is the presence of "www.tigerfly.com" in the GUID.

My problem is this. When I put the computer to sleep and begin watching another source, the commands from the television remote are detected by the IR receiver and wake the PC.
Is there any way to select which signals would wake the computer?
I currently have the power management settings configured to not allow the IR receiver to wake the computer and use the power button to wake it, but this is not ideal.
Thanks in advance.

Several years ago I picked up a Logitech dual optical mouse and've loved using it: the shape and weight as well as its precision have been great for both regular computing and gaming. However, it's starting to fall apart (it seems slower to respond and a couple days ago the "feet" on the bottom started coming off) and so I'm looking to replace it.

My question is, my current mouse's specs list two optical sensors at 800 dpi each. Flipping through a couple computer hardware websites it looks like a lot of mice are single-optical and still 800 dpi... Am I going to be losing pointer precision by going back to a single-op mouse?

Like I mentioned, one of the things I love about this mouse is its shape: it's not exactly centered but kind of wiggles off to the right at its tail end so it contours my hand better. I also like the single thumb button on the side. Can anyone recommend a replacement mouse, whether it be Logitech or otherwise? I spent $30 on this mouse back when I got it and would be looking to spend about the same now.

Move the lead around where it enters the mouse, they're prone to damage there. If no joy, do a search for'Crazy Mouse'.

Hello, I recently bought my IdeaPad Y400. I've had it for a couple of months and it has been wonderful to me up until this point. The mouse pad's sensor picks up my fingers when I'm using one finger to move the mouse around the screen.  However, just recently it cannot detect my two fingers and reacts to my two finger scrolling as if it were my one finger moving the mouse.  The weird part is scrolling is the only problem. If I tap the sensor pad it still recognizes me wanting to click the mouse. Please help! Thank you in advance

Answer:Mouse sensor not scrolling

Dear Clemilishablee

Welcome in Lenovo Forums

Please follow the below steps ,

1- Please go to Control Panel and then Mouse, you?ll see a Device Settings tab, where you can click the Settings button to get into the advanced settings page.

2- Head to Scrolling ?> Two-Finger Scrolling on the left-hand side, where you can enable vertical or horizontal scrolling with two fingers?you?ll probably want to enable the Edge Motion setting as well, which keeps scrolling when your fingers hit the edge of your touchpad.

3- Then to Press on Apply

Please let me know if the issue still persist

Thanks
Alaa

The Mechanical mouse has a round plug, the Optical mouse has a long rectangle conection. Will the optical mouse work?

It was working just last night and when I woke up and used it this morning it was not working anymore, No one used it when I was asleep since I keep it in a safe place every time I am done using it. The mouse also has no support forums or technical support. Here are what I have tried:

Model: Dragon War Leviathan ELE-G1 USB Laser Gaming Mouse
Different computer (Windows 8)
Re-installation
Restarting pc
Cleaning the mouse
Using different USB ports (usb 2 and usb 3)
Using a usb extension
Giving it a tap on the floor (LOL)

Its a cheap gaming mouse for about $10 and is just a few months old... I guess you get what you paid for... But it will still try anything to get it to work, pls help me THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

Hello Ian mate I found this if it of any help http://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/X...tonControl.htm

and it might be as well to take it apart and have a look if the first bit isn't of any value. Just look for loose wiring or even parts that not connected see pic it is very general but will give you some idea of what you are looking at or for.

This is going to sound really pathetic folks but having had to clean out a load of dust and dirt from my Logitech optical mouse, I now find there is a small sprung object over......
The wheel is back OK and the mouse even works but there is a "thingy" over.. It is about 3/4 inch long with a small hook at each end and a couple of loops in the middle.

When you use the wheel itself, it just doesn't feel that it has the correct tension and therefore I am assuming that the small object should be attached to it in some way.

It did not spring off when I first opened the mouse and in fact I didn't notice it until I was re-assembling. It just sat there in the bottom of the mouse on the right hand side.

Does anyone know of a diagram of the inside of an optical mouse showing where this object should be used? I know it doesn't cost very much to buy a new one but it is a question of honour now finding out where it should be placed. Know what I mean!!

I've been using my old reliable MS ball mouse for like 8 years. I recently realized I could use a mouse with a wheel for the extra functionality, I mostly do gaming. How are the optical mice compared to the standard ball mouse? I've seen some nice optical/wheel mice around $20, but I seem to remember long ago reading something negative about them for gaming. Shrug. Any help would be appreciated =)

Answer:Optical mouse VS standard mouse?

dunno about other people, but personally i cant stand optical mice.. i had like .. 3 .. 2 of them logitech, and they kept either lagging or freaking out on the screen... id recommend the old mouseball cuz i never ever had problems with those, however, they get dirty and probably die faster ... im shocked that you have had one for 8 years, as mine die like . every year sometimes sooner... however.. theyre cheaper soo...
but you should check for more input from other people .. but mouseball has my vote =D

I recently replaced the palmrest on my T520i only to discover that the new palmrest didnm't come with a touchpad sensor mouse board. I'm not referring to the sticker that goes on top of the touchpad but the actualy board that goes beneath it on the underside of the plastic case.I ripped the old touchpad sensor mouse board from the old palmrest and tried to attach it to the new one without any success. So, I purchased a replacement touchpad  sensor mouse board from eBay (Touchpad Sensor Mouse Board Synoptics TM1240) and I'm hoping someone here can help me figure out how to properly apply it.Here are some photos for reference:The other side of the Touchpad Sensor Mouse BoardThe adhesive side of the Touchpad Sensor Mouse BoardThe underside of the palmrest. The Touchpad Sensor Mouse Board goes in that rectangle.I guess I want to know how I should orient the touchpad sensor mouse board. I would also appreciate any general advice on how to best complete this task. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Looking for a low cost implementation to post ambient temperature readings from a sensor to servers via a COTS router.
1) Have a temperature sensor connected to a micro controller which sends data via a Wifi Module with a TCP/IP Stack to servers 2) Have a temperature sensor communicated via Zigbee to a coordinator that is plugged into a router and communicates with the servers.
Would like to keep the cost of the solution below $20. Another constraint is the battery life. Wifi modules with TCP/IP consume more power and cost more.
What particular devices/chips/microcontrollers would you recommend to solve my data communication problem and fit within my budget? And I found some at http://www.kynix.com/Product/Cate/123.html ,are they suitable?

Question: Optical mouse

I have just got a new computer from Mesh and it's fine except for one thing .When I shut the computer down, the optical mouse stays lit,now to my mind that means the power is still going to the system.I have phoned Mesh who say that it's alright but I have another computer (also a mesh )with an optical mouse and that doesn't stay lit on shut down. What do you think? viejo

Answer:Optical mouse

I've got a MX700 cordless mouse which flashes red when its sits on its cradle. This is because its got its own battery. If its a mouse with a tail, it could be drawing power from pc if it is left on standby. Do you unplug/turn off your pc at the wall or is it left in standby?

I've tried everything logical!

but I cant get my PS2 Optical Mouse to work on XP.

It's supposed to be compatable, so no drivers or software came with it.

Any ideas?

Answer:XP & PS2 Optical Mouse

My first idea is that you need to give more information. Like the name brand and model of the optical mouse. Is it wireless ? Is it new ? Did it EVER work ?

If it did, what happened just before it went bad ?

Was there an "old" mouse? Did you uninstall that mouse's drivers ?

Does the optical mouse work on another computer ? Does another mouse work on your (main) computer ?

Does a conflict show in the Device Manager ?
Does the device show up in Device Manager ?

Is it plugged in ?
Is it plugged into the PS2 port, and not the keyboard port?

Does it need batteries and if not are they still good ?

What do you mean by "can't get it to work". Is it completely dead, or do you have partial function?

Does your BIOS have a switch to enable/disable a PS2 mouse and did you make sure it is enabled ?

Does your Motherboard have a jumper to enable/disable a PS2 mouse and is it enabled?

What's the history of your system ? Is it new or used? Have you owned it for a long time or did you just get it ?

My second idea is that you should first let go of the notion that WinXP has anything to do with your malfunctioning optical mouse. Unless you have some red-haired ******* step-child of an optical mouse manufactured by some highly isolated cult located off the Fiji Islands, and imported by Boolong-Bang tribe for distribution in the United States, chances are that your XP and your mouse are just fine, and that the problem is more in the...
