Ram Works fine in single sticks, not working fine together :P

Question: Ram Works fine in single sticks, not working fine together :P

I've been doing some online gaming (world of warcraft), and I kept getting these Error#131 issues. This would cause the game files to become corrupted and then I would have to repair, or reinstall. The WoW tech site says that chronic error #131 messages are either a Hard drive, Ram, or Motherboard issue.

Running the Windows Vista memory diagnostic tool has turned up some odd results, the initial test with a 1gb stick in slot #1 and a 1gb stick in slot #2 came back with errors. I then removed the ram from slot 2 and ran the test on slot 1 with 1 stick of ram.... no errors. I did the same with the other stick in slot errors. this lead me to believe that it was slot#2 giving me the issue so I moved the ram from slot 2 to slot 3, thus having 1gb of ram in slot 1 and 1gb of ram in slot 3. After a little while......error#131 appeared.

So I then tested both sticks in slots 1 and 3 together and came back with ram errors, I then tested both sticks in slot #1, and then again in slot #2 and both tests came back fine. Any ideas on what this issue could be? I know both sticks are the same brand, speed, totally identical.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just opened a brand new T470s, running Windows 10 1709 x64 Pro. I noticed after Windows did some updates that the laptop was stuck on the Lenovo logo with the message "To interrupt normal startup, press Enter". I waited about 15 minutes, but there was no change.  I pressed Enter, but this did nothing.  I then powered the laptop off and then back on, and it displayed this message but then quickly moved past it to the rotating dots, configured Windows updates, and then successfully booted into Windows.I've done some testing, and what I've discovered is that the machine does not reboot successfully.  If some software wants me to reboot or I tell Windows to reboot, I get the behavior where it sticks on the boot screen with the Lenovo logo and that message about pressing Enter to interrupt the normal boot process.  If I shut down Windows and power it back on (or I power it off on that boot message screen and power it back on), it starts normally. I tried updating the UEFI and also Windows, but this hasn't solved the issue. Any suggestions or assistance is welcome!

I have searched for this problem and can't find it anywhere. Every few minutes my IBM Access Connections keeps shutting down, then restarting all by itself. I usually don't have to do anything to restart it, but once in a while it takes too long to restart, so I reconnect manually. I don't know if it makes any difference, but it didn't happen until I downloaded Google Chrome. I've installed Service Pack 3, but no change. And while I'm at it, my laptop will no longer restart when I click "restart". It just powers off. Hello, that´s a strange behavoir. It seems that google chrome had problems with AC and interferred with it.I would suggest uninstall and then install google chrome. See if AC is functioning as designed when google is uninstalled. Or try to download the newest verson of AC from driver page of Lenovo.Look at the link supports&downloads, on the very top of this page! greetsAndreas

Hi There!

I'm not terribly technical so please bear with me. I really hope someone can help as this is driving me nuts...

I'm running Windows 7 on an HP PC wired directly into the Internet. Everything has been fine (more or less) since I bought it a year ago, but yesterday - for no obvious reason as far as I could tell - my main browser (Chrome) stopped working. I tried Firefox and IE, but they wouldn't work either.

Then I saw the Internet was still accessible - iTunes was working, Skype was working, and so on. It was just browsers. I tried reinstalling Chrome and Firefox - nothing. Using my laptop for the initial download, I installed Safari for Windows and - much to my amazement - it worked, but to go over to that permanently seems like a plaster over a major wound. And in any case, there is obviously something very wrong (although probably not terribly serious - I hope!)

Last night and this morning, I've been hunting high and low for a solution to no avail. There are threads on this site (mostly several years old and closed) too, and I think I've now tried every possibility mentioned there.

If I start up in safemode with networking, it's fine.

The only anti-virus product I had was Norton (sorry!) which I've uninstalled. I ran the removal tool twice to make sure.

I've just started work again after the summer holiday and need this machine for my job. If I take it back to the place I bought it, I can wave goodbye to it for sev... Read more

I am having a really difficult problem at the moment...
I am an IT Tech and all our pc's work fine on the network AND Internet.
I have a clients laptop with me, it works perfectly on the network but NO internet what so ever. I done numerous virus scans, Malware removal etc but with no luck sorting the problem.

Also, if it helps, when I try to repair the wireless connection "Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the followng action cannot be completed: Disabling wireless adapter" also previously, same error message but something about the DNS when repairing the wireless connection. the drivers are up to date. Realtek RTL8187. I have configured it manually including the correct DNS.

Also if i try to disable programs to run on startup through msconfig while in the Administrator account it tells me i do not have administrative rights, even though the account does.

Need to get this sorted asap, without a format.

Hey all,
I have some proprietary software that works great on a single-core processor. When I try to run it on a dual-core or above, the software loads, works once, and then messes up.

The software uses modems to dial out to our payphones. We found a work-around by turning off one processor in the bios, but then, what's the point of having a dual-core processor.

Please help. The software is doing this on Windows XP.

Recently got some nostalgia and wanted to play AOE. I have the original, the expansion pack, and AOE2 age of kings.
The original AOE and the expansion installed, loads, and runs flawlessly, I didn't have to do anything special.

AOE2 however is giving me trouble.
I click to launch the game, the disc whirs in the drive, and then stops. No load screen, no error messages, nothing.

What I've tried-
Running it in every compatibility mode option there is, as an administrator, tried changing color resolution, tried a clean boot startup, nothing has produced any change.

What's going on here?
It's frustrating that the original works fine, yet this one does not.
I understand it's available on steam, but I own the discs, I don't want to pay $20 for something I already own.

Firefox 3.02 stopped working. I upgraded to 3.03, then tried a clean reinstall, then tried going back to Firefox 2. Tried running Firefox in Safe Mode. Also disabled Norton, and Windows Firewall. Also tried uninstalling Windows SP3. Nothing worked! IE and Outlook Express work fine. Before this happened I uninstalled the free Norton Corporate Edition which came with my new computer and installed my university's Symantec Antivirus I read somewhere that Norton uninstall can cause this problem, but don't know what to do.

hi,i had my laptop repaired for overheating and cooling fan issues from a hp service center. since the repair my laptop's touchpad isn't working. after that i formatted the c-drive and installed fresh windows 7 home basic on my 64 bit laptop. i installed synaptics touchpad driver but touchpad isn't showing in device manager. i then connected a usb optical mouse which works fine and then mice & pointing devices is visible in device manager. when i disconnect the mouse, mice & pointing devices disappears from device manager. also in mouse settings there is no tab for touchpad. i also uninstalled the mouse driver and reinstalled synaptics touchpad driver but no use. is it due to hardware problem caused during repair? or is it a driver issue? the touchpad worked fine before repair and i used synaptics touchpad driver earlier. how can i solve this issue?

We have website on which we have used various JQueries. We are facing rather unusual problem in IE 9.
For e.g-
When the page is loaded, on click of Jquery datepicker, calendar is not poped up, but when I press F12 and then refresh the page, the datepicker calendar is popup and I am able to select the date.
The problem resurfaces again if the browser is closed and open again.
We have this issue for datepicker, DataPagercontrol and phone masking Textboxs.
The Jquery version we are using is 1.8.9 which is then again updated to 1.12.1, but the problem still persists.
Please suggest.
Thanks in advance.

Tonight there was a lightning storm, I can't imagine how that could have had this effect, but I can't ignore the timing either. IE and Firefox just flat out quit loading anything

The address is not valid

Most likely causes:
There might be a typing error in the address.
If you clicked on a link, it may be out of date.

What you can try:
Retype the address.

Go back to the previous page.

But AOL explorer alone works beautifully......Though runs of speed tests are showing a shakey download/upload stream, although I'm still getting 8 megs/1 meg, and again IE and Firefox just flat won't work.

HELP please? Anyone?

Answer:IE just flat stopped working, but AOL explorer works fine

Have you tried a system restore to an earlier date?

I have tried a number of fixes from different forums and so far nothing has worked. I'm working off the same wireless network for both, I have had the Vista computer for about a year, and the internet as worked relatively well until about two days ago. The problem existed before I installed SP1 and has persisted after the install.

Can somone work with me on this to figure out what the problem is? Thanks.

When i plug in my memory stick at home and click on computer and on removable disk, it doesnt want to show me my files. The program quits responding and I have to take out my memory stick. Sometimes, it will show me my files but it won't let me access them. It will take forever to act like its loading and then it won't and "Computer" says it is not responding. Is it my device? I bought it Windows Vista compatible. I dont understand why I cant get to my files. After removing the stick so my computer will go back to being responsive, the program "My computer" will not recognize the device again. I have tried all my USB ports, they do the same thing. I have restarted my computer and it does the same thing. I need help!!!

>>>To Blind Dragon. I have no pop ups. I also use Norton Firewall Security.

>>>To jobeard, Windows Vista fails to uninstall USB devices on my computer. Also, when the program "My computer" freezes up, u cant do anything unless u remove the USB first bc it glitches the computer.

Answer:My USB isnt working with my laptop, but at school it works fine...

Obviously its not the device. It has something to do with your computer.

When you plug in the device just let it sit for a minute, vista should go and get the proper drivers/firmware for the device.

Watch you tray in the bottom right hand side of the screen. Does a box pop up when you plug in the device.

Do you have a firewall installed if so which one?

So it just happens 100% random out of no where and I get this error:

(note i ripped this image off google but this is the exact thing that happens)
so I found TWO temporary fixes.

One: unplug router / modem for 10 sec and replug

Two: Go to the network settings and disable the ethernet (note I am connected via ethernet cable, 100% wired)
disable it

Enable it BUT i have to enable it about 30 times before it enables.

When it's enabling, it doesn't enable, it shows the message that it's enabling and I refresh the background and it's still disabled. I have to keep enabling until it randomly works (if anyone knows why I have to keep enabling it 30 times for it to actually enable please let me know)
why does my internet randomly stop on my PC? it works fine on other devices while its not working on my PC and it takes forever to enable the ethernet after i disable it.

So this happened before. I bring my computer over to a friends house for a couple days, then when bringing it back to my house and hooking it back up the mic does not want to work with skype or any program that records.

Had this happen last week then it just fixed itself. As of right now everything is plugged in the right spot, all the checks and green bars move when i talk into it in the windows settings. Even when I go to monitor mic option i can hear fine, it is working.

Just for some reason it is not working with any chat program. It is not working in skype, steam, and windows recording. WTF is going on here

Answer:Mic stopped working with programs, works fine with monitor check?!

Check that the device the mic is currently plugged into is set as the default device:

The level indicator and monitoring functions will still work for non default devices, but only the default device will be used with applications (unless the applications themselves have the option to override this).

Hello, I am new here. I have an HP Pavilion entertainment laptop. Everything was functioning just fine. Then, windows update happened. It was a critical update that cannot be undone. I performed the update. Immediately after all of the preinstaled HP software quit working. I fought and fought and I have most of it working again but all of it is very buggy and crashes a lot. HP Help and support and HP health no longer work. I had to install the vista versions and I run them in compatibility mode. They still don't work rite. Another critical update was released and then my internet port on the side stopped working. My laptop cannot connect to the internet through it but will via wireless. In the hardware manager my internet card shows up as the driver failing to load. It is Realtek PCB family controller. Uninstalls and re installs don't work. I even used a registry cleaner (registry first aid) to uninstall it so as to remove all the registry keys. Letting windows try to install the driver fails as does letting the realtek software try. Also, every reinstall just adds a number to the end of it. I am on Realtek (3) now. I need to get this driver to work but it will not. I am not seeing a whole lot about it so I guess this isn't a common problem. Everything else I have works fine so far as I can tell. I also tried using the file browser to hunt down all things realtek related and delete them. Windows just gives me the new hardware box, puts back what I del... Read more

I have a networked computer that is experiencing the following issues:
1. Logmein traffic works perfectly, is it super fast and I have no issues.
2. Internet will not load, or loads impossibly slowly.
3. Dropbox does not load beyond 1KBs and then will drop out
4. Updates will not work/download
5. Downloads/ftp traffic fail

What I have tried.
1. switching ports it is plugged into on the router, to a port that another (perfectly working) computer is plugged into.
2. Changing IP address
3. Running the norton removal tool
4. Logging in under a different account
5. removing the hosts file
6. Setting IP to dynamic

I have had no luck beyond that...any ideas? I am a CCNA here and this is simply driving me NUTS lol

hey guys
so i finally decided to install win7 x86 - everything went well - put all the standard stuff on there etc - i rebooted many times because of installations and updates
on my last reboot it just got stock in the bios screen (verifying dmi pool data..success! etc)
so i rebooted, same thing, took the disc out, same thing - turned off boot devices same thing
tried to use window's useless repair tools (whatever happened to repair install?) which didn't help - so i decided to format and reinstall - then it says it was unable to do that (partition error or something)

the annoying this that this EXACT..i mean EXACT same thing happened when i installed vista sp1 from scratch - this happened - and to fix it i had to leave my pc open overnight with the hard drive cables all the morning with my fingers crossed i tried the installation again - and it worked.

my d: always disappears (single hard disk sata 233gig (250)) - sometimes it'll vanish from my computer and stuff - but this can't be the problem because the d: is a single drive on its own - my c: is a25gig partition from my e: - so it's completely unrelated.

does it matter how i replug the sata cables (2 of them) into the mother board? - they're both being recognised anyway

this is really annoying though - mostly because there isn't really an explanation - and because this random stuff always happens to my pc! - is it my hard drive because that's the only thing that would half- make sense :-/

Answer:installs fine, runs fine, reboots..not fine

Did you delete/recreate the partition? If you haven't then do this first and try re-installing Win 7. I wouldn't recommend removing the watermark as that can have unpredictable results.

Did your ISP give you this router such as your leasing it etc? If so contact them for a replacement. If you own this router then I'd try factory reset button to set it back to factory default. If that doesn't cure this then buy a new router. They are pretty cheap these days.Your router could have been hacked, the access denied is strange!

I got a system in recently with a weird issue. It would reset after a few minutes, and then shorter and shorter intervals on restart continually. I tested for all the normal stuff (power supply, temperature, unplugged the video card) and checked the error logs but only the unexpected restarts were listed, with no suspicious events around them.

If I removed a memory stick it ran fine though. I thought it was a bad stick but I ran memtest on both sticks without errors for a few passes. Immediately though if I plug in both sticks the system won't stay on for more than a minute or two.

I adjusted just about every bios setting concerning memory without change, and tried loading bios failsafe defaults.

Anyways I'm considering between just telling the owner that the system can only support one ram stick now, likely due to some motherboard fault, or trying to do a bios update though I'm a bit hesitant that if there are issues with the motherboard maybe I should just leave the bios version alone.

I'd be interested in hearing others takes on the issue.

CPU- AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ 2.40GHZ
Motherboard- amd690gm-m2
RAM- CORSAIR CM2X1024- 6400C4 800 MHZ 4-4-4-12

Answer:System restarts with two memory sticks, fine with one

Often a faulty memory stick will work by itself, but then fail once running in duel channel.

Unfortunately this is very difficult to test with two sticks, so there's no guarantee that this is the issue. You may just have to buy some new memory.

Hi have a PB SW51 laptop, AMD Turion 64, 2gb DDR2 ram.

It has been running windows 7 32bit fine for over a year now.

Foolishly I decided to give Win 7 64bit a try.

The installation went like clockwork until final reboot to start windows (after installation complete)

The splash screen displays, then freezes, then I get BSOD telling me my BIOS isn't ACPI compliant.

After Googling for info I read about removing a stick of ram, which I did, and hey presto it boots with no problems.

I've run memtest86 for 3 passes on each stick of ram with no errors.

I know that Win7 64bit is best with 4gb of ram but thought I'd give it a try anyway.

Now I really wish I hadn't as I decided to reinstall the 32bit edition and am now getting the same error
with that.

please help.

Don't know why I'm getting this error now. As when I first got the laptop, over a year ago, I installed Win7 32bit without problems and it ran sweet as a nut.

Answer:Win 7 laptop freezes on boot with 2 sticks of ram, but fine with 1

Did you try with each stick of ram individually? If it works with one and not the other, replace the defective one.

This is happening on my desktop (am writing this on my laptop). It's failing to connect, with the exception being "secure" sites - https://....

I have searched and read articles until I am blue in the face, jumped through hoops and burning rings of fire, and near lost what little mind I have, trying to get this situation sorted.

We have four machines on our home network; two HPs with Windows 7 Home Premium; two DELLs with Windows 7 Pro.

I have finally managed to get our network sharing working as it should --- with a single exception, all four machines and all four "users" can access anything anywhere on any of the other machines.
However, there is one user (who is Administrator) on one of the DELLs that, no matter what I have tried, can only access a single public folder on the other DELL; anything else on the other DELL machine that the user on the DELL in question tries to access immediately gets a notice that they do not have the proper clearance to access and to notify the network administrator, etc., etc.

This user can access anything on the other two machines.

The other DELL can access everything on the DELL that cannot access it.

I can log in under a different user and access everything that the other user cannot.

When I try to simply add this specific user to the permissions list in advanced sharing, it will only let me verify user names "from this location"; it will not allow me to type the name of the other machine, nor change the "location" in any way; when I click "Location", the only choice it lists is the machine that I am on and will not allow me to add an... This is a strange one and i'm hoping someone can help me solve this!

I have a work PC with XP on with 2 x Nvidia 7300 GS graphics cards in. The system doesn't have an onboard graphics card and i've only got 2 so i can have dual monitors.

I tried to install Windows 7 Pro (32) on a seperate partition and it kept BSOD (hardware error 000124) on the 2nd reboot before finialising installation. The only way i've found of not making it BSOD (or just go to a black screen then restart) is to pull out one of the graphics cards and run it solo. With this done everything seems to work.

It will also happily boot into Safe Mode with both. I've got the latest NVidia driver from the site and it's been installed but that makes no difference to the issue.

Any ideas or should i just get 2 new gfx cards?

Answer:BSOD with Dual GFX cards, fine with single

craigeve, welcome to the forums.

For the stop 0x124 in almost all cases it is a hardware problem,

which in your case seems to be fixed by pulling one of the cards.

As for using two cards for dual monitors, why? Unless you have an oddball video card, it should have two ports (if not three; a combination of DVI, VGA and/or svideo; and if three, only two of them can be active at one time).

I have a Lenovo G560 laptop. Had this problem once before and computer tech fixed problem, but moved cities. Worked fine but recently had a windows update. Now when I press the right shift key and c nothing happens. Left shift and c displays a capital c. How do I restore the right shift c ?

Answer:Right shift and c not working, Left shift and c works fine for a capital c

hi richiestac,
Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
Just to verify, have you considered doing a System Restore to fix the issue and also to isolate if the Windows Update that got installed is the one that messed up the functionality of the Right Shift key ?
If doing a System Restore isn't an option, you could try the following:
1. Ensure you're using an English keyboard layout (see this guide)
2. Boot the machine in Safe Mode and observe the functionality of the Right Shift key
   - If the Right Shift key works then there's most likely an application in the background that's remapping the key. Perform a clean boot and observe the functionality in normal mode.
 - if the Right Shift keys still doesn't work on Safe Mode, install Passmark's Keyboatd Test Software to check if the Right Shift key is physically registering.while being pressed. If the key registers but turns off when it's held down then it's most likely a defect on the Right Shift key and a replacement key or keyboard might be necessary.
Let me know how it goes.

Hi, I am having a mojor headache with a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120. The screen has started switching to blackout at random times and is happening more and more. It doesn't matter whether W
Jayindows has loaded or if I enter the bios,or boot from CD,or leave it sat waiting for me to select a boot device. It more often than not goes black but you can still see what should be on the screen, it's just not lit at all to see clearly. The laptop itself is still working fine as it works on an external monitor and makes system beeps, cd spins up etc.
Have tried the following:
Adjusting various settings in the graphics properties and within the bios but makes no difference.
It also switches back on if I press FN + F5 to swap monitors but goes off again after a few seconds.
It's not overheating as it's been stood all night and still happens sometime during boot when stone cold.
I've tried booting with / without the battery - no difference.
I've tried booting without the HDD - no difference.
I've tried removing the battery, pressing power for 60 seconds, then add battery, power and boot up again - no difference.
I would have sworn it was the inverter but it does the same thing with an inverter I know works! don't think it can be graphics as it works on an external monitor and doesn't go off.
I'm out of ideas and seeking a genius to sort this for me please!!!

Apologies, the bit that says " *It doesn't matter whether W*

I recently purchased a new laptop from PC World which has Windows 8 on (recently upgraded myself to 8.1) and was set up in store by their 'Knowhow' team.
My laptop connects to the router fine (this is confirmed as I can access the laptop on other devices such as my old laptop or my smart TV) however there is either no internet access, or I have access for 2-3 minutes and then no further access.
If I connect to the router via an ethernet cable there are no issues at all and I have connected to my university wireless routers and routers at a friends house with no issues.
There are no issues when accessing the internet through the wireless with the other devices in my home so I'm assuming the issue lies with the wireless link between my laptop and router however after searching forums for this type of issue I haven't been able to fix the issue. I have already tried a few things however I'm happy to do these again and post the results if needed to cross fixes off the list.
If it helps, my laptop is a Samsung 5 series NP540U3C-AO2UK and the router is NetGear, provided by Virgin Media who also provide our internet.
Thanks in advance!

Have major graphics display issues with Firefox & IE! Chrome is the only browser I can view web pages & buttons, icons, stationary etc. perfectly. All browsers have been updated. I can hardly use Firefox or IE.
I prefer firefox but the buttons, email stationary icon links & other web page graphics are invisible. My email stationary tools are invisible. When I mouse over the graphic links (icons) I see the ALT tags & the links do work even though invisible!

For example, the font color chart shows no colors, only black outlined boxes, like a grid with no colors to select. Can't see any the Emoticons, Bold, no tools what so ever.
The graphics are lacking. Very bare bones.
A picture can explain it best.
The Chrome browser is the only browser I can use without any issues.

I took out my Nvidea graphics card a year ago when it went bad & am using my
inbuilt SiS graphics. I've tried everything with no success.
I'm wanting to check my webpage & landing pages in different browsers but I can't until I can resolve this.

Appreciate any help in this matter!!!

Linksys PCI G Wireless Adapter has stopped working after a semester at college. The network was wired there, so my desktop was plugged into it for 3 months, but the adapter itself was safe.
It worked before I left for college, and I just got back, set everything up again, and it is detected in device manager, I enabled, disabled, reinstalled drivers after removing the old ones, and tried installing and uninstalling it.

When at college, because this is a Vista machine, I had to update my drivers that manage my wired connection, because they were not working when I first got to college. I was wondering if this may be the cause of the problem.

Ok, We just updated our modem from a Motorola SBG900 to a SBG6580.

Speedtests are substantially better.

We have 2 laptops, 2 desktops, 2 Xboxs, and a PS3 all running on the network. All of them are running amazing...except for (of course) my desktop.

I can run speedtest on my desktop and get around 12Mb, but when I try to browse the internet, websites take stoopid long to load and sometimes won't even load. But to make things even more strange, when I stream a video from youtube or something, it will take years for the video to start streaming, but once it does, it flies.

Talked to Motorola and all they could say, is if you have an internet connection, its fine.

No settings were changed at all from the time we turned off the old modem to the time we activated the new one.

Virus scan checks out. Tried on both Wireless and Wired. All drivers updated. Was about to format my computer but I lost my damn Win7 install disc. >< Please Save Me.

Briefly, I've been using my monitor instead of the laptop screen for over a year now. Everything works fine. Suddenly yesterday the monitor went black! It's actually still functioning on some level but doesn't keep the display. I was doing something on the internet, possibly saving a password in RoboForm, maybe just wandering. There are no error codes or indicators.

When I reboot, having previously changed the setting to dual - laptop & monitor, it briefly flashes the Vaio splash screen, then black, then briefly flashes the Windows splash screen. Then black. The laptop screen is fine. I've tried both 'Single Display - Monitor' and 'dual display' - Laptop as Primary; 'dual display' - Monitor as Primary, and in none does the monitor work - laptop screen always works.

If I unplug the VGA output from the laptop, then plug it back in, the monitor briefly (maybe 1-2 seconds) shows the desktop images perfectly! Then black! It seems that everything is actually working just not properly! It's making me crazy. I did try downloading the most current graphics driver from Intel...nothing. The monitor continues to show a green light (indicating that it is receiving a signal). The audio (plugged from the monitor into the front of the laptop by a separate plug) continues to play thru the monitor.

To Recap: Display on 'Monitor only' has worked just fine for a year. Now it won't show any image... Read more

My new ASUS motherboard arrived this morning. removed and installed the new motherboard and booted up for the first time POST was successful which is a blessing for any system builder. Hi,I've been experimenting with new designs for my new site and came up with a menu like this after some fiddling with css:click hereas you can see the menu buttons are all the same size and the whole box is the link.I'm working on another project at the moment and thought i'd try and implement that menu into it, and play around with it and see what i got. so i copied the EXACT stylesheet code, and put the same class on the links as done in my site and this is what i get:click hereas you can see, they are quite different!so, does anyone know why its doing this? i've probably missed something stupid out. but i'm getting angry with this now!please ignore the colours, i was just putting in random colours!so any help is great. i probably wont be aable to reply again until tomorow. Thanks,Tom

Answer:css - works fine one place, not the next

For a start you have different body margins. One is set with the following style snippet which should really be written into your main CSS file in the body section:<style type="text/css"><!--body { margin-left: 1px; margin-top: 1px; margin-right: 1px;}--></style>The other page has html coded margins, which is a bit of a no no:<body leftmargin="2" topmargin="2" marginwidth="2">Now, you've also used the table value of height="99%" which is not an acceptable attribute if you are chasing valid code, so that's one thing to look into. You've used broadly similar HTML but both pages break on any browser other than IE. Your first link in Mozilla has the Home and About Me links on one line, slightly hidden by the Photos link on the next line, the wallpapers and links buttons are on the following line followed by Portfolio, then CV, each on their own line and then last there's a long gap of a line or two and your Contact link is all on its own. All the links are the same width as the text in them, so in the case of your CV button, the button is two characters wide.I've only had a brief look at the actual CSS file but there are some issues with it.To my knowledge there is no CSS value for border-align: but you have that included in your CSS file. You have a psuedo-class specified as which is illegal.Let's say you want link's on a menu to do certain things. You create your menu formatting first then you create you menu links, as {CSS stuff in here}.m... Read more

Hi everyone,

My current configuration is:

Athlon XP 1800+
512 MB
HD 80GB Hitachi
Asus CD-RW
Windows XP

I changed the power supply for a new 350W one and it works fine, but I haven't been able to boot the system yet.
If I connect everything up the only thing that will turn on is the fan of the processor and the power supply itself, but neither the HD or the CD-RW will.
But if I disconnect the data cable from the motherboard both components will turn on.
The HD is set as master and the CD-RW is slave, and they are plugged with the same data cable and same power chord.
I tried another power supply and everything works fine, but using that one on that computer is not an option.
I googled a couple of things like "change power supply" but none of them worked out.

Thanks very much in advance

Hey all. First time poster, long time lurker!

Ive had my i5 rig running on XP pro for a bit and then decided to upgrade to win7 Ultimate. installed 32bit fine, decided to go to 64bit. Install gets all the way through then reboots (which im told will happen). once its rebooted, install gets about 80% of the way through and says 'Windows 7 cannot configure your hardware to complete the install' or something of the like. what gives?!

ps- the 64 bit install was on recently formatted drive!

Computer specs:

Intel i5 760
Asus P7P55D mobo
Asus EAH4650 1GB VGA
2 x 2GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3 RAM
1 x WD Caviar Black 500GB HDD (Install drive)

help! please!!

First thing I would suggest is that you remove all non essential external hardware, (usb drives Etc), if present.

One other trick that has worked (more with vista than win7) is to remove one of your memory sticks for the install

I've recently bought the Lenovo Z510 i7, and like anyone here I was also unsatisfied by the partitions pre-deployed by the manufacturers. I made my researches before taking any risks (it was obvious that there is the One Key recovery application that depends on the recovery partition to function properly).I needed to repartition C: and extend it, get another 100GB partition for Ubuntu (I'm a Linux fan BTW) , and a larger personal one.So I took the risk and followed the following thread which seemed risky, rational and helpful : But what I realized that after partitioning and without changing the serial number of the partitions in step (8) I made a test to checkout the functionality of OKR .... and TADAA!!! it worked fine  ; both the lenovo key and the application on windows responded with any issues. Also I tried to start a backup process and it started. But to be honest I have not tried to recover anything (thinking that as long as the backup was initiated, why won't it restore). Finally, I can't assume if this is applicable on all ideapads with latest OKR versions or NOT, so my OKR version is and further research about this version would be great since it seems that lenovo guys have made some changes to allow the application to respond normally toward partitioning. If you came with any results or updates please share, it might be of great bene... The funny thing is that if I immediately play an mp3 with winamp and keep it, it never freezes..!!! so thats what I am doing to prevent from freezing.

What is the problem ??
I am sure it is a hardware problem.. it freezes with XP, 2000 as well as 2003. Surely the key to solve this problem is that it never freezes when an mp3 is playing !!

I tried my old video card which is a Nvidia GeForce2 MX400 and I get the same result. Maybe it is not compatible with the two other motherboards. I also have a New ECS 848-P motherboard and when I try switching the motherboards I get the same result. I know the CPU works because it is brand new too. i know i'm completely new here but I'm having some issues with my system. i recently got some new parts to rebuild my system, trying to stay on the cheap side and watch my budget. im not a hardcore gamer but i do play some fairly new titles. what i've bought so far: ath. xp2700+, 1gb (2x512) ddr400, radeon 9600pro 256mb agp8x, and a board which is the only part i have not recieved yet.

yesterday I put my cpu, video, and ram on my dads board just to check things out. everything worked fine. installed the video drivers, etc. installed a couple games, farcry being one, and tested a few things. all was good. well my dad wanted his pc back . so i took all my parts out and put his back in, (keep in mind i use a wrist grounder or whatever you wanna call it). later on that night I redid the same thing again. i put my parts in, turned it on, did a few things here and there and the thing freezes on me. i had done everything exactly as before. i restart and this time the windows log in screen doesnt show up but just shows a black screen with a mouse pointer. after a couple more attempts i finally get into windows. i do a few things here and there, try to play a game again and it continues to freeze. now it works for around 5-10 minutes and freezes.

also the fsb is 333 which the mobo supports.

I have a 2007 Compaq is Compaq Presario..C555NR. I am very new to this world & have many problems doing the simple things. I can do E-mail & surf the web, otherwise no luck. My p.c. is very, very slow in starting & closing, so like a dummy, I tried a few things today. Not much luck, but now the arrow or cursor will not scroll up or down, I lost something fooling around where I didn't belong. It works o.k. for all the other moves..but..up/down..I tried looking up some help items like from HP, but the tech stuff was too deep for me, I was lost. So I am here asking for some very simple , easy for me to follow ways to solve this..if it's too deep--I;ll drown. Thanks for any help.

Have you tried to reboot the computer? Sometimes rebooting will correct that type of problem.

System Configuration
P3 866Mhz,
Intel 810e (or 815) Chipset
40GB Hard Disk
1 Samsung CDROM drive - 52X
1 combo drive(cd writer + DVD)

Till recently I was running Windows 98 SE plus Windows XP Professional.
Recently I needed to install Linux on my system so I removed all partions from my 40GB hard disk and created new partitions for windows leaving around 6GB unformatted for Linux.
After formatting the windows partitions, I installed XP Prof. from the bootable cd.
Next I installed Mandrake Linux 9 on the system.
Things worked fine for a day or so after which Windows started hanging and restarting unexpectedly and with increasing frequency.
Amazingly, this restarting problem occurred in Linux too..
Doubting the installation, I repartitioned, reformatted, reinstalled XP from various installation cds but to no avail. The restarting problem still exists.
Now I have installed Windows 98 SE where there is NO problem of restarting.
Again, if I try to install XP as an upgrade to 98, either the setup itself hangs/restarts or if I am able to complete the setup ,XP continues to restart and hang randomly..

I think I have checked the RAM to be in place and not loose.
Besides, the CPU fan has been unmounted and cleant of all dust..
But this has not helped the situation.

Incidentally, I discovered, that the grounding of the PC plug point was not working properly and I was getting current on various parts of the CPU cabinet.
Though I’ve got this fixed now, could this be rel... Read more

Answer:xp keeps restarting but 98 works fine

Any chance of substituting another power supply?

It's possible Win98 is starting ok, just due to putting less of a load on the PSU -- although I would expect that to be true of linux as well...

You might have had some damage there due to the bad grounding or excess current drawn.

And you certainly could have damaged motherboard components as well -- have a look for swollen, charred or leaking capacitors for one ....

I really think this may belong in the Hardware forum, as I probably won't have much else to say. If you want me to move it, just say so.

We have a computer (just so happens to be a dell) that we are having problems with. For some reason it seems to not like windows nt and only windows nt. Two nights ago the computer crashed. When you start windows nt the does some what of a lock up at the windows nt screen. you can still move the mouse but it just sits there. When you try to reinstall, it starts loading the drivers from the cd into the ram. Once it gets to cd-rom file system, the screen flashes and reboots the computer. We have swapped out every piece of hardware except the processor and mb. The computer has absololutly no problem installing windows 2000 or windows xp. I find this a little odd. Any ideas what might cause this?

Answer:cant install nt xp works fine

Do you absolutely HAVE to use NT? If not, use 2000 or XP and be done with it.

Hi, I've been having a really annoying problem. I decided to upgrade my video card from my old Radeon 7000 VE AGP to the Sapphire Radeon 9550 AGP.

So I brought the card home, removed the 7000 (and drivers etc.) and plugged in the 9550, and basically the power started up (fans started working on comp and processor) and there was a single scratchy click around the video card, from that point nothing happened (HD didn't boot, there was no POST - there was no display, my monitor didn't get a signal, fans were still running)

I thought it was a faulty card, so I got a refund and bought a Sapphire Radeon X1650 pro AGP. exact same problem - the video card still made that clicking noise and stopped (the fan on the vid card was still working though)

I've tried the following:
-removing old drivers before replacing the card
-disabling on-chip VGA frame buffer on the bios
-resetting the CMOS manually
-cleaning the contacts on the video card
-removing the power from all other devices except mobo, vid card, and hard drive
-replacing the monitor cable

the weird part is, whenever I plug in my old radeon 7000 it works fine! (it's working fine now as I type this message) everything I do, the problem's being localized to the video card (either that or i'm really unlucky in that the two cards i got brand new from two different stores were both defective) again, the slot works fine with the other card (the only difference I can tell between the new cards and... Having issues with one of my PCs in my Home Network. I run DSL/Wireless Router and all my wireless devices run good but my ethernet connection on my Main PC's has issues. Hard to explain but it seems to work fine after booting machine but after a short while of surfing, it loses speed. It doesn't lose connection, just speed. Have done multiple speed tests and the same bad results. I have tested my laptop on the ethernet connection and seems to work fine. Replaced the PCI ethernet adapter in the machine and did not fix the problem. Tried all ports on the router, same results. Any assistance would be great!

Hi there,

Not sure if this should be a networking or a operating system question, I guess it's a little of both.

Here's what's happening. I have a cable modem going to a wireless router. My PC(1) is plugged by wire into the router; another pc(2) and Mac Powerbook running wireless. Everything was running great until roommate was using PC1 a couple days ago. Now PC1 will not connect to anything but PC2 and laptop run fast and fine on wireless. I have cleaned with SpyBot and Ad-Aware, as well as Avg in Safe Mode and nothing comes up (usually that's all I have to do to fix it). I checked winipcfg and my network adapter is there with an ip address but if i release, it will not find another ip to renew. Also tried to restore to a couple days ago, no dice.

Here's where it get's weird. If I click just about any folder (my computer, my documents, my network), I get a fatel errod saying that Explorer has made a fatel error and will shut down. I click okay and it just goes back to the desktop, but doesn't shut down.

Roommate talked to ISP tech support (before i knew about the issue) and they were no help aside form wanting to send someone out, which i know is a waste of time since the connection to the modme is fine and that's all they will touch.

Anybody have any ideas? Computer with issue is running Win 98SE (I know I sucks but i never use it anymore...that's why rommmate was using it. haha).

I currently have Win Vista Business. its a 32 bit os. My system says I am compatible to run a 64 bit system. So I went and downloaded the new win 7 64bit, burned iso to disc, then unplugged my hdd and hooked up a new1TB drive to partition. It gets to the loading drivers and white line loads across screen then I get the new screen saying error. Something about source and an error that my configuration may have changed recently, would I like to try again or quit. shows a status starting with x0

It should work if my system says its 64bit capable.

I download the win 7 32 bit and it went through like a charm. But I dont want 32 bit I prefer to start out with 64 bit.

Could it be something with my system? operator error? or just bad iso file. Ive been back and forth for two days.

Has anyone else run into this problem?

Answer:error wem intalling win 7 64 bit but 34 bit works fine

Hi webhead1,
What CPU is it?
If that 1tb hard drive is brand new, it needs formating before you can use it.

Sorry my first post is in the tech section.. but i've spent the past hour or so reading through here trying to find an answer and no luck.

I've got a linksys NIC and an onboard NIC.. both are doing the same thing..

It has no problem conneting to the internet through my DSL connection (which i'm on now), but when i plug in the cable connection (both through my linksys switch and directly from the modem), it won't recieve any packets but does send. My roommate's connection works fine when we're both hooked up to the switch.

If you need more info please ask. Any help is greatly appreciated! thanks in advance

Answer:DSL works fine, but cable can't recieve

So you have 2 network ports on your PC.
You have 1 switch (linksys router maybe?)
You have 2 ISP's
When you connect one ISP (DSL) to the switch, you have internet access.
When you connect the other ISP, you lose access. (Only when DSL is also connected?)
You have both network ports on your PC connected to the switch?

If you unplug both NIC's on your PC and connect only 1 of them directly to the Cable ISP modem, can you get any access? If not, you need to contact that ISP to troubleshoot the issue.

Hi all, Please bear with me, I have tried a number of methods to fix my problem and have come here for some possible support. I have a new L420 and I wished to upgrade the HDD to an SSD. I purchased an OCZ 180GB SATA II SSD. Took out the old HDD and installed the new SSD, everything appeared fine and I processed to install Windows 7 64bit from a bootable USB drive. Everything was fine until the install needed to restart the laptop. I would get a 'Operating system not found' error from the BIOS. I rebooted the machine and booted from the USB drive again. Restarting the installation it appeared that nothing had been put on the SSD. It said that the drive was unformatted, despite selecting the Format option during the first install (2 drives where created, a 100MB SYSTEM drive and 167GB PRIMARY drive). I tried the windows DVD and got the same problem. I managed to get windows installed and working after using the Recovery Console and formatting the drive BEFORE starting the installation. Formatting it this way made just 1 partition of 167GB, named SYSTEM. All appeared fine and I turned the machine off for the night. Next morning I turned it on, all was ok, but then I rebooted the machine. Got the 'Operating system not found error' again. The problem now is that the drive not longer appears in the BIOS. I have put the SSD into my desktop and it detects and works fine. I was also able to be made the bootable drive for the desktop.I... Read more

Answer:L420 - SSD works fine in other PC/laptops but not here?

Welcome to the forum!
Nothing to do with your ThinkPad and everything to do with OCZ.
There are many posts all over the web describing issues similar to one you've experienced with OCZ SSDs.
I'd be willing to bet that if you were to attempt the install using an Intel SSD, you'd have no problem.
BTW, I own both Intel and OCZ SSDs personally. My opinion on the latter can't be properly expressed on this forum, but it's NOT a good one, let's leave it as that...
Good luck.

Hello, everyone. A computer of a friend of mine, an HP Pavilion dv7 laptop with 64-bit Vista installed on it, recently refused to open any webpages with any of the browsers installed (IE8, FF and Chrome), while other applications which do not use port 80 by default work just fine (i.e. MSNmsgr, WinUpdate etc.)
The problems started after I removed a few viruses off the computer and Removed the trial version of Norton, which has expired prior to that. I tried to do some troubleshooting -- disabled the Windows Firewall, uninstalled AVG (which is also known for causing issues) and ran "netsh winsock reset catalog" with no result, so now I don't know what else there is I can do, so I'm looking for some help.

Answer:Internet works fine, browsers don't

Try these simple tests.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands one at a time, followed by the Enter key:

NOTE: For the items below in red surrounded with < >, see comments below for the actual information content, they are value substitutions from the previous IPCONFIG command output! Do NOT type <computer_IP_address> into the command, that won't work. Also, the < and > in the text is to identify the parameters, they are also NOT used in the actual commands.

Do NOT include the <> either, they're just to identify the values for substitution.

PING <computer_IP_address>

PING <default_gateway_address>

PING <dns_servers>

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

<computer_IP_address> - The IP Address of your computer, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above. (For Vista/Win7, the IPv4 Address)

<default_gateway_address> - The IP address of the Default Gateway, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

<dns_servers> - The IP address of the first (or only) address for DNS Servers, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

A technician came to install a new video card yesterday, and in the process replaced my front chassis fan with a better one.

The computer was on all day yesterday afterwards, so I just noticed this now:

Shortly after turning the computer on and before Windows loads, I get a message that says "Front Fan Failure. Press F1 to continue or F2 to enter Setup".

I pressed F1 and I'm using the computer fine.

The front fan is the fan the technician replaced. The new fan IS working (I can hear it and Everest Home Edition reports it spinning)... perhaps a setting needs to be changed for the computer to recognize this fan?

It would be an annoyance having to hit F1 every time I want to boot up Windows now.

Please let me know how to get rid of this error message.

I have an IDE to USB adapter which is over ten years old. It works on my Windows 7 laptop but not on my Windows 10 desktop. My Windows 10 desktop shows a drive letter under My Computer for a short time but it doesn't give a volume name or capacity and the drive letter disappears after a short time.

How can I get information from my Windows 7 laptop to help me get the adapter to work with my Windows 10 desktop? If I go into Device Manager in Windows 7, I see the model number of whatever IDE drive I connect followed by USB but really I think I'm interested in the driver that makes the converter work?

The converter doesn't have a model number although the PCB has U235 REV.C printed on it. There is an IC chip with CL811USB 0351MHGA6-24 on it and I can find information on the CL811USB controller but nothing indicating that there is a driver for Windows 10. Would it make sense to try to extract the driver being used on Windows 7 and install it on Windows 10?

This is weird.
Cable internet works fine when I go straight from the modem to the computer ethernet port.
However, if I do anything through a router I can barely get a signal or a connection even to google.
Here's what I've tried so far....
I have a Belkin45 Router and a Netgear WGR614 Router
I have gone straight from the cable modem through each router into the ethernet port of the computer...nothing
I have gone from the modem to the router and used my Netgear wireless USB and I get a signal from the router, I scan the network and find the router no problem but still can not connect to the internet. Did this with each router and found each one no problem.
I have tried 6 different cables
I keep getting server not found or time outs.
Like I said, weird.

Answer:Internet works fine...until going through router

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

Make and model of the broadband modem.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Make/model of network card or wireless adapter.
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP2, Vista, etc.

Let's try this with either of the routers:

Reset the router to factory defaults by holding the reset button down for 15 seconds with power on.
Turn off everything, the modem, router, computer.
Connect the modem to the router's WAN/Internet port.
Connect the computer to one of the router's LAN/Network ports.
Turn on the modem, wait for a steady connect light.
Turn on the router, wait for two minutes.
Boot the computer.

I just installed SDK from Microsoft(which you probably have) and now your program runs fine. So it is obviously still dependent on some component included in the download.

There must be a way make it a fully independent executable. Does anyone here in programming know?

I've attached the .txt file to this post.

I got a little problem getting the static ip configuration to work on one of the Windows 7 machine, DHCP works but i need to be static. Here is the layout of my network:

1. Modem conected to:

2. 4 port wireless router conected to:

3. 8 port SMC giga switch conected to:
3a. Windows 7 computer - static ip
3b. WinXP computer - static ip
3c. Network printer - static ip
3d. Network camera - static ip
3e. 5 port SMC giga switch

3e. The 5 port SMC giga switch conected to:
3ei: WinXP computer - static ip
3eii. Windows 7 computer - with two lan cards
Lan card 1: its a 10/100 card that works both in DHCP and static form. (its disabled right now)
Lan card 2: ITs a 10/100/1000 card that only seems to work in DHCP form. Once i set it up as static, the computer wont see the network (without connection).

1. Both Windows 7 boxes are configured the same way except the ip number of course.
2. The ip range on the network is in the
3. Gateway and Primary DNS:
4. Subnet:
5. I have disabled IPv6 (read in forums that might help) still doesnt work.

I have ran out of ideas.. :s

Answer:W7: DHCP works fine, but NO Static IP

I assume you tried various static ip addresses within that subnet and are keeping track of which ones you are using. Have you tried connecting the pc directly to your router?

Also, consider disabling dhcp on your router.

Does your adapter ip settings look similar to this?

Out of curiosity, what is the make of the LAN card and what drivers are you using? Windows or OEM?

Help... Firefox is fine to surf the web, but we need IE for work related stuff. IE gives a port error, avgfree doesn't find anything, mbam found and resolved two issues and won't update. Latest update was 8/3.

IE doesn't connect, spybot and adaware doesn't load?

Please help.

Answer:no IE, no Mbam updates but FF works fine

Some types of malware will disable Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and other security tools. If MBAM will not install, try renaming it first.Right-click on the mbam-setup.exe file file and rename it to mysetup.exe.Double-click on mysetup.exe to start the installation. If that did not work, then try renaming and changing the file extension. <- click this link if you do not see the file extensionRight-click on the mbam-setup.exe file, rename it to mysetup and change the .exe extension to .scr, .com, .pif, or .bat.Then double-click on mysetup.scr (or whatever extension you renamed it) to begin installation. If after installation, MBAM will not run, open the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware folder in Program Files.Right-click on mbam.exe, rename it to myscan.exe.Double-click on myscan.exe to launch the program. If that did not work, then try renaming and change the .exe extension in the same way as noted above.Double-click on myscan.scr (or whatever extension you renamed it) to launch the program. If using Windows Vista, refer to How to Change a File Extension in Windows Vista.Be sure to update MBAM through the program's interface (preferable method) or manually download the definition updates and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. Then perform a Quick Scan in normal mode and check all items found for removal. Don't forgot to reboot afterwards. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware. When done, click the Logs ta... Read more

Hi there

It's a reliable source so I don't have any issues with this particular developer -- if you want to try and run an "Unofficial" but working XP SP4 then it's available here in this link Discussion Board :: View topic - Starting a Windows XP Service Pack 4 Project.

Test this stuff as always on a VM rather than on a REAL machine. It's working fine for me.

I have a load of old legacy hardware so I do need to keep an XP machine around for a while yet -- such hardware as a VINYL cutting machine and studio (for creating VINYL records - actually VINYL is beginning to make a bit of a come back too - so I'm glad I kept this business as a hobby !!), some Minidisc recorders - great at GIGS etc for live recordings -- quality fabulous and it's much easier to change standard batteries than the builtin stuff in modern recorders - those older recorders are extremely high quality as they were used a lot in professional recording - especially on the road. I've also got a blue print machine, an old but excellent high quality photo and negative scanner etc so my XP machine is likely to outlast BOTH windows 7 and windows 8 !!!!.

I have some more legacy hardware too and a PHOTOSHOP license -- not going in for ADOBE's Subscription model. The version of Photoshop I have on my XP VM runs just fine - I don't need the absolute latest version as I can use the Camera software to convert the RAW files to things the older version of PHOTOSHOP handles.

Answer:Windows XP unofficial SP4 - Works fine in a VM

What's that?

Wait... XP SP4?!

They can't be serious with this stuff... MS looking?

Should be interesting though, as a VM of course.

After two days of trying to install 7 pro 64. I worked out that by removing 2gb of ram I was able to install 7 without any problems. Before it would take hours and then eventually give up. If i try to add the other 2gb stick of ram it hangs at the windows logo.

Ive tried 7 32 bit and that worked fine with 4gb. Also vista 64 bit and that was fine also.

Any suggestions?

2.4ghz dual core, corsair ram, asus pn532 something, 1tb sata

Answer:Works fine with 2gb but doesnt work at all with 4gb?

We are discussing this already, as we have many times. Have a look.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit doesn't support 4GB RAM?

Hey a few weeks ago i got a freshly installed windows 7.. works great, everything is good and clean. But last night I restarted my PC, suddenly sometimes when I right click the menu doesn't show up and the effect of the menu disappears. Ive tried searching for viruses and Trojans, a few showed up and avg removed them, but it didn't solve the problem. Also when I right-click. The CPU usage becomes like 80%. Look at the attachments below

see what i mean?

Also, don't think its vista... Its just a theme called Vista VS to make Windows 7 look more like vista

Answer:Windows 7 Works fine except for Right clicking

That is not have extensions installed, WinRAR, PowerISO, AVG....etc.

I have downloaded 6.2 and still have 4.2. I have tried to delete 4.2 but it won't dump to bin as it says there is a file in use. The same file appears in the 6.2 folder. I have deinstalled 6.2 and tried again to no avail.6.2 works OK but if I sign out 4.2 seems to sign me in. I also have the problem that 6.2 signs in then signs out saying I have logged in on a different computer - then I have to log in again!Any ideas?

Answer:messenger 6.2 works fine but can't delete 4.2

I just installed a LINKSYS WPSM54G wireless print server and after a few problems have it working. But what is now happening is that my firewall is handling more traffic than usual. (The wall is zone alarm so the blinking red and green icon seems OK for the holdays ).

What I found (via system event viewer) was that every 3 seconds my printer was pausing and then unpausing. The LINKSYS people say that it's suppose to work like that !
Any other ideas?
