Preferred Solution: Internal Speaker makes what sound like an alarm sound

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Can anyone help please. I have had my HP Pavilion TS 11 Notebook PC for a little while now and from day one there has been no sound fom the internal speakers. If I plug headphones into the headphone socket the sound is there. There is a circular symbol and "dts/Sound+" written on the notebook if that helps. How can I get this rectified? Kind Regards Steve

I have a thermaltake skull case with the temp. sensors and i did unplagged it from power but the sound was still on. The weird thing is when i minimize the game, the sound goes off right a way, eventhough the temp. is still the same. Can anyone suggest what actions can be taken.

Thank you

My brand new Yoga 900 Microsoft signature edition is making an odd knocking sound straight out of the box. When I power up the Yoga 900, the sounds comes from the right speaker - it's as if someone is tapping on the bottom of the laptop. Muting the sound from the control panel doesn't help. What could the problem be? Thanks! Zain

Answer:Yoga 900 speaker makes knocking sound

And I've found out that the laptop isn't playing sound... problem with audio driver? But when I try to update the driver, it says the most updated driver is installed.

My name is Anbu, I am using Portege R700 Series. I am facing a strange problem

When i am using head phone for listening (I am plugging only speaker pin - Green colour), it works properly i.e i am hearing sound from head phone only.

If I *plug both Mic & speaker pin* of the headphone (Both Red & green colour pin) into the respective slots, both *laptop speaker and headphone speaker makes sound.* Ideally only +head phone should work, not laptop speaker+

Help me in finding the what is the problem behind this & how to resolve

Answer:Both Portege R700 speaker and Headphone makes sound

Is the Mic a Mono or Stereo Mic?

Do the headphones have a Mic built in?

Have you tried updating or reinstalling the Sound Driver from the Toshiba website?

Are you using HDMI Audio/Video output or use a Port Replicator?

i check my sound card driver is ok, the cable between motherboard and speaker is connected. i also reinstall the sound driver, but the end the speaker in the computer didnt have sound, can someone tell me what is the problem that occur??

Answer:internal speaker dont have a sound

the case speaker doesnt rely on your sound card, all it provides is basically beeps and such. For sound from your sund card you need external speakers connected to the sound card sockets.

I have this old computer which I dont use anymore, but there is something about it that left me quite confused

It has a sound card, but the external spreakers produce no sound. Instead, the internal speaker produces all the sounds (which gives terrible quality because the case is closed, and its a crappy speaker anyways). I never changed any of the computers settings, but one day it was like that and never changed back.

Any explanations (I dont use the computer and prolly wont (it doesnt even have an OS installed (ready for trash))?

Just want to figure this one out. Its an old compaq p-i with < 128 RAM (I think its like 32MB)

If it doesn't have an operating system installed, what sounds are you hearing besides the BIOS beep(s)?

Dell dimension e520 running win xp

there is no computer sound when pc shuts down and can't get
sound on external speaker.

Please help

Answer:No internal or external speaker sound

first go to control panel and check the audio option of your computer and see if the computer recognizes a sound card.

after clicking audio go ahead and check the settings. if everything is grayed out it means you don't have sound card installed, you need to check device manager and see if you have your sound card there and if see if it's installed with the correct driver.

check also if the external speakers are connected to the right audio port at the back of pc.

hope this helps!

Hi, I've been searching google thin and tried numerous fixes and nothing so far has worked. I just bought an used Lenovo ideapad u410 and a week later the internal speakers suddenly stopped working. External/headphones still work flawlessly, but the internal speakers won't make a sound. So far I've tried these things:Updating drivers manually.Deleting drivers and let windows update them itself.Deleting drivers and installing the default windows drivers.Checking the internal speakers is set as standard, not muted and that the jackstick isn't stuck or jammed.Restoring the computer to factory settings.Restart audio services.I probably tried some other stuff too that I forgot. When I got the computer there was windows 10 installed, so I tried to do a clean install of windows 8.1. This made the sound come back for a few days, then it disappeared again like with windows 10. I then tried upgrading back to windows 10, didn't work. Rolled back to 8.1, didn't work. I'm considering doing a clean install of windows 7 at this point, because I'm desperate. At the momemt I got 8.1 installed and I have tried installing and deleting the drivers numerous times, with no success.Anyone got any ideas as to what I can do next besides doing a clean install of windows 7?

Answer:Lenovo u410 no sound from internal speaker

If you right click on the speaker icon in the tray and select playback devices, do your internal speakers show up there with a Green check mark, and if not, if you right click in the Playback window and select Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices. do your internal speakers show as disabled?    If so, right click on them and select enable and then set them as the default.     Also try disabling the other playback devices (unplug them too) to see if that helps. It sounds like yoiu may have already checked that, and it is not the issue, espeically since it sounds like (no pun intented) ,that you have restored the system, but it never hurts to check.  Drivers and software aside, most sound card jacks mechanically mute the internal speakers when an external jack is pugged in, so perhaps the jack itself is broken and is not switching back to the internal speakers when the headphones are unplugged.   .

my problem is simple: when playing music on the internal speaker the sound seems to be "adjusted" to avoid peak signals...then, for a couple of seconds the volume is eased back up to normal... this is not a problem with headphones or external speaker connected to the back-panel... i know there is a function when ripping and burning in wmp, to adjust volume across the entire cd, but this is turned off. anyway, it shouldn't affect playback. my problem has persisted since the pc was new, 3 months ago. it makes for a lousy listening experience!! no dynamic, except the sudden drops in volume caused by "the ghost in the machine"... please answer me quick! I met a strange issue. The sound from the internal speaker is automatically shut off when my T410s CPU temperature is high (e.g. >72 ░C after playing some youtube videos for a while). But the sound from the headphone works fine regardless the temperature. The sound from the internal speaker is usually back after I press the volume up/down button, but it only lasts for a short while so that I'll have to press the volume up/down button very often to get the sound continuously in high temperature. This is really annoying. So I was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this problem? Thanks. BTW: I bought my T410s (model:2901CTO) with windows 7 pro about 3 years ago. TPfancontrol was used.

Hey everyone, thanks for reading.

After switching to a new power supply, the motherboard no longer POSTs and when turned on the internal speaker makes a continous 'clicking' sound, not a beep. its a very very short quiet click.

I was switching a power supply on a friends computer as he was upgrading his graphics card, and so also updated his power supply.

His system was a pentium 4. and the motherboard is a Gigabyte GA 8I915P-G.
The new power supply is 480w.

I did nothing but switch the power supplies. The only thing I suspect that caused this is the original power supply only had a 20pin ATX power connector onto the motherboard. Whereas the new PSU had 20pin + 4pin 12v ATX. Without thinking, I put in the 20pin and also the 4pin.

After I switched it on and it didnt post. I looked at the voltages of the new power supply, and the sticker I took of the 4pin female slot on the motherboard. The sticker said 2.2v 4pin, And the PSU said 12v 4pin. So i'm suspecting I may have fried it.

Does this make sense? Have I fried my friends mobo?

Thanks for your time, I hope you can help.

It's a new Dell and it has been making crackling sound since I got it.
I spent an hour on the phone with a technician who restored the laptop with Windows 8.1 to an earlier point in time and it stopped crackling for the rest of the day, but the next day, the noise was back.
The worst are "ding" sounds, they have more crackle than ding. Video playback is bad but at least we can understand what is said. Youtube is bad. mp3 audio is bad. Crackle is there with earphones too.

Hello. If it made the noise right out of the box you probably should have returned it as defective during the brief return period.
Does it make the noise only when running on battery power or also when plugged into house current?

Did my searching and couldn't find this one...

When I modify the speaker volume using the "Volume Mixer" icon, it generates a sound. When I adjust using the "Speakers/Headphones" icon, it does not make a sound.
I would like to mute the Windows 7 sound that happens when I adjust the sound, preferably without effecting the other system sounds? I can't find out which system 'event' it is that causes a sound to be generated when I modify the speaker volume. I'd like to mute it, i.e. no sound when I change the volume.

I can not get sound from my front jacks but I get sound through the internal speaker. If the rear jacks are enabled then they will work.

Device manager shows: 2 high definition audio devices (not realtek). One for the rear jacks and the other for ATPI Inernal ATPI jack. No playback device listed for the front jacks.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the devices but the front jacks wont install

Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

Answer:HP400 sound from internal speaker and rear jacks but not front jacks

High Definition Audio Drivers are only the generic, basic function, Windows installed sound drivers. They are not the full feature drivers that the hardware drivers provide. Check HP for a correct sound driver, if available.

ATPI (ATAPI) suggests this is an old Windows XP PC that was upgraded. There may not be any better drivers than the generic ones you have now.

Also check the front panel audio connection to the motherboard (reseat the connector).

My Y50 had the left speaker clicking sound and muffled sound from day one (last month) March 2015After much time and pain I worked out the problem was the cooling fins next to the cooling fans were flexing and I presume touching the left speaker wire which runs along under neath the cooling fins. I could get the clicking sound to happen every time if I applied a small amount of pressure on the cooling tubes that sit on top of the cooling fins.I then placed a small piece of cardboard on the left side under the cooling fins to raise them only about 2 mm and this has fixed the problem. no more damm clicking sound and muffled sound Hey Lenovo fix you effin Y50 laptop !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, first post, first Lenovo.I am a teacher.  A Lenovo A57 9702 was donated to our school and I got it.  It has a Vista basic sticker on it, but has been upgraded to Vista Business.  I think it?s a brand new machine.  My problem is that the only sound I get is from the onboard speaker.  The front and back sound jacks are not outputting sound.  Plugging in speakers or headphones won?t even cut out the onboard speaker sound; it?s like they are not even connected. If you have a clue, thank you!

The different sound effects that make your voice sound deep ,less muffled voice, tunnel ,echo ,slow talking ,sound like you talking in small room ,car or out side.

I wont it for both music/sound/audio streaming from the internet and music/sound from the computer , I have on the computer. And be able to go in setting and turn it or off or add or remove effects.

I'm not sure but I think it was sound blaster live I had ,that had some thing similar to add effect to sound coming through the computer speaker or headphone.

Note I have windows 7 .So some thing that works with windows 7.

Creative (ie: Sound Blaster) has had that type of setting in their software for years. The Creative/Sound Blaster software is for their chipsets only. There could be a similar audio tool that works with any audio source, but I'm not familiar with any.

If I click on the speaker Icon on the bottom right it shows the speaker graph going up and down as sound is being produced. I tried the head phones and nothing coming from them either. I tried playing a CD and nothing from there either. I first noticed it when I was trying to play something from YOUTUBE and thought it might just be the site but then I tried off line as well. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. This is the first day that I have noticed it. Thanks for any help. I have checked all the settings I can think of but probably have missed something somewhere.

Go to the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel. In the Playback section, set your "Speakers" as the Default Playback device (if it's not now set). Then see if you have speaker and/or headphone sound.

If this is the wrong forum for this question then I apologize in advance.

I'm having some problems when I try to record music.

I have my microphone plugged in, but whenever I sing/play into the microphone, the sound only comes out from the right speaker. Therefore, when I mix my songs using my software, the sound is still only coming out of the right speaker, which is very frustrating. This also means that if I listen to my songs on my iPod, the music is only coming out of the right headphone.

If I listen to songs from CDs or whatever, or just any other sound on the computer, the sound is coming out of both speakers simultaneously as is normal. I only have problems when I am using my microphone.

I am using Windows XP (2002 Home Edition) and Realtek HD Audio Manager. My speakers are ViewSonic Speakers, which entails a subwoofer and two smaller speakers (the left and right ones). I plug my microphone into the blue 'Line In' port at the back of my computer rather than the pink 'Microphone' port, because this is what works best for the recording/mixing software I am using, but even when it is plugged into the 'Microphone' port I have the same problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much,

Answer:Sound problem: Mic sound only coming out of one speaker

Either the Microphone cable is not plugged in correct.Try not to plug it in all the way/or push it in further. Sometimes you have to play around with it to get them to work. Or you might have the balance on the microphone on one side which is a setting in the Sound Icon. Double click on The Icon and then options and then on Properties. Make sure There is a check mark next to Microphone and then click OK. You should see the Microphone settings on the screen and make sure the balance is in the middle. If none of this works you might need a new Microphone.

I have hp dv1738od and have upgraded to Windows 7, previously Windows XP. Everything seem to be working ok except, for the sound. Window 7 automatically installed the driver, and said the sound card was working properly. But there was no sound through speaker.

I removed the driver and reinstall the driver that I got from HP website that work for Window Vista. Installation went through with no problem and Device manager indicated no isssue on sound driver. However there was still no sound coming out from the speaker, only through headphone jack.

I read tons of forums, and some has suggested that it may be the jack connection. I tried plugging in and out numerous time, and that did not solve the issue. Sound could be heard for like a sec, when headphone was being plugged out but it goes away quickly. To determine if it was hardware or software issue, i reinstalled Window XP and there was sound through speaker. So for sure it is not the speaker issue.
If anybody can help me out, I greatly appreciated.

Answer:HP laptop no sound from speaker but there is sound through headphone

Hi imek and welcome to the forum!

I would assume that you are running the 32-bit version of Windows 7. If you are, you're in luck. Please download the latest BIOS and software for your HP Pavilion dv1738od, here.

I would suggest that you try using the audio driver found in this page to check if that resolves your issue. If it doesn't, it is highly recommended that you update your BIOS, found in the link provided, that might correct the issue you're having.

Let us know how it turns out

My wife HP Pavilion DV6175ea laptop running windows 7 ultimate 32 bits was fine with the sound until a month ago. Note that upgraded from vista since the windows 7 launch.
From that date till now it as no sound from the speakers but it is ok from the headphones.
Tried different audio drivers but no results.
Tried to insert and remove headphonde jack several times with no results.
Any ideas of what can be the problem?

Answer:HP laptop no sound from speaker but there is sound through headphone

Laptop speakers are generally very delicate and if played on full volume can be blown very easily. My Dell Vostro's right speaker has gone like that while I was watching a movie on VLC player with volume more than 100%. So people using VLC player, should be careful with the sound controls within the player. This is my experience with laptop speakers. I hope you did not have this problem.

On the system tray right click on the speaker icon, select Playback devices.

On the opened Sound Dialog box, make sure that Speaker icon has a green check mark as shown below. Click on Configure button and test the speakers working or not. Complete the speaker setup and close the dialog box.

Check the properties and make suitable adjustments in available tabs.

Installed a Creative Soundblaster card and it automatically disables the onboard sound and when looking on recording devices Realtek doesn't show. Can I go into the BIOS screen and re-enable onboard audio (providing it allows me to) and will the Realtek HD Audio once again appear in recording devices along with the "what you hear" option the Soundblaster sets up when installing the soundcard ?  Basically, can you have both Realtek and Soundblaster show in recording devices at the same time and have the option to disable one when your not using it ?
The sound card I'm using is the Soundblaster Audigy RX 7.1.
Thanks for any help

Hi Everybody!

All of a sudden my speaker icon is missing from taskbar & sound is only coming through the LEFT speaker. The RIGHT speaker is still working but you can only hear SOME sound and it's very low, all the rest of the sound is going to the LEFT speaker now and the volume icon on the taskbar is gone now so I can't even check the settings there. This all happened out of nowhere! Everything had been working fine for a long time before this happened. I don't understand.

Is this some kind of malware problem rewriting the codes or something? I saw this could be the problem on previous posts. I am NOT knowledgeable with computers but I learn fast if you can walk me through the steps.

I have windows 7 professional on a 32 bit system.

The option "Show or hide volume (speaker) icon on the taskbar" in the Control Panel is grayed out and I cannot change the setting on it.

I've been looking thru past threads and I'm still not finding a solution that works for me.

Any suggestions would be very appreciated!!

Thanks so much!!!

I call radio programs and I record them by playing a software that records the sound. Now when im on the phone I want to turn off the sound externally so its not playing in the background while im on the phone. But I dont want the sound to be off internally so that it can be recorded. Before u say it cant be done, i had a Toshiba labtop that did this. You can keep the sound going internally but extrenally it let you turn it i have a new labtop...and it does not allow that.

I know you can plug in something to the headphone jack and thats better then nothing....but...obviously just pressing a button is more assume if u keep putting something in the headphone jack over and over and over that there is wear and tear on that jack waters

I know on a desktop u can just have speakers already plugged in and turn them off but this is for labtop

Answer:Speaker problem - No sound from one desktop speaker

It very much sounds like a defective female jack receptacle on the "speaker/lineout" output. I assume that your results from the headset status was done from the headset/microphone jack as opposed to the "speaker" jack? If these are powered speakers you can try them in the headset output and at least determine if both speakers work. Alternatively you can also test your speakers on another computer to eliminate the possibility of a defective speaker.I don't know if your audio software provides for a left/right speaker mute if so you might check to ensure whichever side is not producing audio is NOT muted. I again assume this is a recent occurrence to something that had previously worked properly? Have you recently changed anything associated with the sound? Is your sound on-board or a standalone card?truenorth

Answer:Speaker problem - No sound in one desktop speaker

When you borrowed your friends speakers, was it the same speaker, left or right, that didn't work?  If so, it must be a bad jack on your computer.  Plugs and jacks work on simple physical contact with a spring like action and sometimes they get warped.Sometimes you can push the contacts back into the right position, and sometimes you can't.  Open up your case, power off of course, plug in your speakers, and see if you can see where the plug and the jack are missing contact (not always possible).

Hi I bought a E470 Thinkpad with windows 10 ~2 months ago. The computer has been sitting idle for the last month (in sleep mode) and when I started it today I have an issue where the internal speakers wont output any sound. However connecting headphones or other external devices lets me outout audio (through said device). I've looked through various topics online (non-lenoveo related). The most common issues people have are the following:-Speakers are disabled / not selected as default device  *Pretty confedent this isn't my problem as everythin seems fine in the audio properties/settings-The driver is broken and needs reinstallation / replacement  *I have reinstalled the driver "Conexant Smartaudio HD", same problem after restart  *I have replaced the driver with the "High Definition Audio Device", same problem after restart-There's a sensor in the mini-jack socket whats faulty leading the computer to believe headphones are connected  *I don't know the correct way to go about diagnosing this, but several users on another forum fixed the issue (on different computers) by "poking around" with a toothpick in the audio jack.  Other observations / useful info:The computer does not appear to "know" that there is an issue with the audio. The internal speakers are not disabled, in able to adjust the volume bar. I suspect this is a hard drive idling. I have Win8.1 installed on one HD and opensuse on another HD. When I am using the Win8.1, sometimes I get a hissing sound from the case. The sound that the hardware makes when I shutdown the system, except there is no shutdown, no error, no flickering of the screen.

I see a lot of threads on other forums suggesting that this is a PSU issue. I hope that my brand new Corsair is not to blame. The last reply on this page suggests that it is the secondary drive shutting down to conserve energy. I would be perfectly fine with that but is there any case that going on-off it damages the drive? Should I cut the power to the drive completely?

Answer:PC makes shutdown sound

HI Sailor, long time not chat.

I would check in the power options and set the HDDs to always on (especially if a desktop PC) and location is Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings

Then scroll down the list to Hard Drives and set to always on > apply and reboot and test.

Welcome to Tech Support Guy

The first thing is to download and install SP3 as soon as possible
Support for XP with SP2 has finished and did so on July 13 2010
That means that no security updates etc have been offered to you since then

You may well find that SP3 will solve the issue for you

As you cannot of course connect you have two choices - one sort out the connection
1. If it is the wireless that will not connect - connect it hard wired from the ethernet port on the laptop
Also ensure that wireless is stwiched on on the Dell - usually Fn plus an F key

OR if you cannot

2. Download SP3 to another computer and then install to the Dell

I know it says do not use on one computer but it will still work and t MAY solve the connection problem for you

3. If you are on broadband and you refer to the modem, as the modem/router provided by the ISP eg BT etc then it does not make a sound
If you refer to the modem in the computer that WAS used for a dial up connection and is not used on broadband
The computer has a modem port where a telephone line was connected for dialup and a ethernet connection I would think, where the line is connected for broadband from the modem/router provided by your ISP BT etc

YOU MUST not connect to the wrong port on the laptop

Additionally I cannot find a Dell Vostra 100 laptop where are you please as some models are only available in some areas

Hi i just noticed my monitor sometimes makes a high pitch whistling soound, should i be worried?

Is it like (this might sound stupid) leaking radiation waves or something which could be dangerous to me?

Answer:My monitor makes a sound!?!!?!

This is very common on all TVs and also large-screen monitors. The integrated high-voltage transformer (IHVT) has windings that are laminated in place under the black surface skin. Through age, heat, and vibration, the laminations deteriorate. What you get are 15KH noises that a lot of peopleůcan't even hear. The reason you hear it coming and going is that different brightness [settings] require different currents through the transformer, [which] causes the laminates to start singing. You need a new IHVT.

This sound usually indicates that the monitor is on its way to equipment failure. I believe that a new or refurbished monitor is your best option, unless by chance, your monitor is still under warranty.

For your safety i would like to note......Do not open the monitor!
Computer monitors are a prime example of hardware that should be serviced only by qualified technicians. The electricity that builds up inside these units can kill you, plain and simple. Furthermore, even unplugged, monitors pose a serious threat; it can take days for the electric charge to dissipate from within one.

My alarm on my Lumia 635 doesn't make any noise. I shouldn't have to have notification or ringer or app volume o, which I do not. The past few mornings the noise hasn't sounded, but when I finally do wake up there is the box on the screen asking for snooze/dismiss. I KNOW I haven't been sleeping through it, and I doublechecked setting an alarm for a second later while I could watch and make sure while I was awake. Same thing happened. I really need the alarm to work, and I don't know why it all of a sudden stopped. I haven't had any recent updates, and I can't think of anything I have changed on my phone since the problem started either.
I hope there's an easy answer.

I looked through a few threads here on this forum that have a similar title but most of what I read isn't helping me. So I started a new thread.

My laptop makes a clapping sound every now and then. It is definitely not a hardware problem, it's coming from the speakers. I can mute it, increase/decrease volume etc.

It isn't a regular interval at which it happens. Sometimes the sounds are as closely spaced as 5 or so seconds, sometimes half an hour but mostly they happen every 2-3 minutes. There is no visual cue as to which software is causing this sound to come.

I tried looking through the processes that are running but that doesn't seem to be helping too since everything seems quite legit. This problem has started happening only since the past couple of days and is extremely frustrating when I am trying to work.

Can someone here help me as to how I should go about figuring which software is causing these sounds to come?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Answer:Laptop makes a clapping? sound every so often

I just got a brand new e540 laptop in the mail last friday, and I found through using it, that it makes this really annoying sound. I myself cannot quite describe it, but it doesn't sound normal. It comes on at random intervals, kind of reminds me of the sound that a very very older desktop computer would make. The sound is really annoying and drives me up the wall, and I can't quite tell what it is. I've never had a laptop that has made a sound like this, even my older models didn't make this sound. Since, I can't quite describe it, I have a link to a small recording I made with my mobile: Anyone have any idea what it might be caused by, or if that's just how this laptop is supposed to sound? (I'm not well versed in computers) and that if it is abnormal it's something I can get repaired under my warranty.  The laptop itself has worked fine, it's just this sound is driving me insane. When I am using the laptop normally, it will happen at irregular intervals, and sometimes the laptop will be silent, and then if I run chkdsk this sound intensifies and gets much louder and persistent and much more annoying. I don't have time to contact support until this friday so I figured I may as well make a forum post here for now.

Hey guys.

Recently purchased a Gainward GTX 570 Phantom. When I start the computer up it makes a strange "clicking" noise. There are no loose cables or anything...+the gainward phantom fans are covered anyway!. I tried replacing its slot from pcie_1 to pcie_2 and same thing occured.

When I first bought it made the sound for about 30 mins. After I installed drivers and unistalled old AMD drivers and the let the computer run for a bit, the noise stopped.

However when I start the computer up now, for about the first minute I hear the same clicking noise>

I want to ask if is this something to be concerned about? Do some fans just sometimes make weird noises while "warming up"? I used GPU-Z and fan speeds+temp. seem perfect.

(P.S I have warranty, but I already had to RMA my last KFA2 GTX 570 and replace it with this last week, so unless its a potentially bad thing I dont really want to RMA it.)

Answer:GPU makes Clicking Sound On Startup

Well its not a normal sound so you definitely need to be concerned. There may be something in one of the fans or one of the fans may be faulty. Or it may be a power issue.

What is the brand, model, and wattage of your power supply?

I think it's my harddisk (Samsung HD501LJ), thought I am not sure. The sound is high pitched and comes only sometimes. But it certainly sounds like something is spinning. The sound goes in the interval of a sound per 1,4 second, or so. Sometimes it's a single sound, other times its double or even tripple. It continues sometimes for several minutes and then it can be quiet for some time. I have scanned it with checkdisk, and no probs.

Do you think it's the harddisk? Can this be a serious problem?

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Something makes creaking/squeaking sound

It's probably your hard drive or a fan. When you're hearing the sound, carefully stick your finger in the fans to momentarily slow them down. If the sound goes away, then it's the fan.

You should also run Samsung's utility to test the hard drive. I've never used it before, so read the instructions carefully:

Could this be the speakers are actually doing this and not the PC? Plug a headset in and see if you get the same thing.

Hello! Registered to ask help with this problem. My computer has been making odd buzzing sound under stress for some time now. It happens usually when I try to play newer games but sometimes just using web browsing or Youtube induce lesser sounds. I've changed CPU cooler, GPU and memory sticks during this time, and that hasn't changed the situation. Here's a recording of the sound:

I moved the phone around to locate the source of the sound and I think it's coming from bottom half, below GPU, possibly near PSU. Is there anyway to test if it's the PSU?

I'd appreciate the help, this has been bugging me for quite some time. I know I shouldn't wait around with a computer making disturbing noice, but what can I say.

(One detail I noticed is that Speccy gives my memory sticks speed as 933MHz when is should be double that.)

Yesterday everything worked fine. After waking up and wanting to look at a video, it just started making loud noises and you couldn't make anything out what was being said or played.
Then i switched to my headphones, but the same thing happens there.

Here lately when I turn my computer on, it makes a different beeping sound than usual. Sometimes it will not stop at all. This may have to do with overclocking but not sure. I was trying to reach 3.4ghz but never really could get it stable and that seems to be when it started. Right now I am at stock settings and it still does it. Does this mean there is a problem with my cpu or memory?

I also just reinstalled Windows Vista if that helps any.

The title explains the problem. I can't find anything that would set this off. Everything else seems normal. It's been doing this all morning. Probably, if I reboot, it'll stop - but I want to find the source of the 'bing.' How can I trace it down?

Answer:My PC makes a sound (bing) every five minutes

Not the typical tick, but may be the HD. Go to the website of your HD mfg and give the hd a test.

Whenever I run a certain video game, 5 minutes into it, an internal speaker repeatedly makes two annoying beeps, the first one is a high pitched beep followed by a lower pitched beep. It sounds like an old police siren. If anyone can tell me how to stop this I would be very grateful.

Answer:Need help with an annoying sound that my computer makes

Not really suited for the security forum so pm a moderator and ask it to be moved to hardware as it may be a heat issue on the processor.

I have installed Windows XP because i had to get rid of Windows 7 beta(Because it keeps shutting down every few hour!) Now most things works pretty well, except for sound. I know that this have some thing to do with driver, does not show the volume speaker icon at corner.
I tried Google and i could not find anything useful to problem. Then now i have found this helpful community. I know most simple computer stuff but not drivers

If you can help, that would be great!

Thanks A lot.

Answer:Sound does not work, makes me maad

Go to the PC manufacturer's website for the onboard sound driver. If you have a separate sound card, go to the sound card manufacturer's website for their latest driver. If you have onboard sound for a custom built or self-built PC, go to the motherboard manufacturer's website for drivers. Without knowing which you have, I can't be more specific.

My PS/2 keyboard makes a ticking sound with each keystroke. There is a different sort of click for alphabet keys, numbers and arrows. The same ticking sound is heard also when logging in or shutting down. The ticking sounds play for all users. I have tested a wireless USB-keyboard and there was no sound. I have not tested with another PS/2 keyboard yet.
Systems sounds are all off, but ticking continues. The clicking sound responds to volume control, e.g. volume off=no ticking.
The Filter Keys function in the Ease of Access center are un-ticked.

What could be causing the sound? Please help!

Answer:PS/2 keyboard makes ticking sound

It was the Asus Xonar DGX soundcard that was picking up interference from the PS/2 keyboard port. I don't know why it started doing it, but this appears to be a hardware problem instead of a Windows 7 problem. I switched to the mobos soundchip, and everything is nice and quiet when I type my important documents (or actually, play Skyrim).

Hello Geeks!

Recently my 2 year old CD/DVD burner (NEC) has started making a clicking sound when spinning a CD (it's especially noisy with burned CDs) as well as accessing newly loaded CDs and DVDs rather slowly. Any idea what this might be a sign of?

Not sure what other info you might need on this, but let me know if there this.
