Preferred Solution: My monitor makes a sound!?!!?!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: My monitor makes a sound!?!!?!

This is very common on all TVs and also large-screen monitors. The integrated high-voltage transformer (IHVT) has windings that are laminated in place under the black surface skin. Through age, heat, and vibration, the laminations deteriorate. What you get are 15KH noises that a lot of people…can't even hear. The reason you hear it coming and going is that different brightness [settings] require different currents through the transformer, [which] causes the laminates to start singing. You need a new IHVT.

This sound usually indicates that the monitor is on its way to equipment failure. I believe that a new or refurbished monitor is your best option, unless by chance, your monitor is still under warranty.

For your safety i would like to note......Do not open the monitor!
Computer monitors are a prime example of hardware that should be serviced only by qualified technicians. The electricity that builds up inside these units can kill you, plain and simple. Furthermore, even unplugged, monitors pose a serious threat; it can take days for the electric charge to dissipate from within one.

I have a Viewsonic Optiquest Q7b-3 monitor. For the longest time, it was working just fine on me... until just the other day. Now, whenever I plug it in, it won't turn on. If I hook up the monitor to a PC or a Laptop, the little light under the power button will flash about three times, stop, and nothing will show up on the monitor.

About half a year ago, it did something similar to this, but I was able to fix it by replacing a domed capacitor. It worked perfectly... Up until now, of course. I opened up the monitor, and after looking at all the capacitors, none of them seem bad or even domed this time.

Here's the thing though; while I have it opened up and it's plugged into the wall, I can hear a faint buzzing noise. The faint noise sounds sorta like "Wee-ooh wee-ooh wee-ooh wee-ooh", and will continue until I unplug it.

Anyone have any idea's? It is now trashcan-filler, or do you think it is still repairable?

Any replies will be appreciated. Thanks in advance~

It's a new Dell and it has been making crackling sound since I got it.
I spent an hour on the phone with a technician who restored the laptop with Windows 8.1 to an earlier point in time and it stopped crackling for the rest of the day, but the next day, the noise was back.
The worst are "ding" sounds, they have more crackle than ding. Video playback is bad but at least we can understand what is said. Youtube is bad. mp3 audio is bad. Crackle is there with earphones too.

Hello. If it made the noise right out of the box you probably should have returned it as defective during the brief return period.
Does it make the noise only when running on battery power or also when plugged into house current?

Did my searching and couldn't find this one...

When I modify the speaker volume using the "Volume Mixer" icon, it generates a sound. When I adjust using the "Speakers/Headphones" icon, it does not make a sound.
I would like to mute the Windows 7 sound that happens when I adjust the sound, preferably without effecting the other system sounds? I can't find out which system 'event' it is that causes a sound to be generated when I modify the speaker volume. I'd like to mute it, i.e. no sound when I change the volume.
thanks

Answer:System Event - Changing sound makes a sound, how to mute it?

Maybe the solution is in this tutorial

Back around the first of the year I sent my xps 17 L1702x back to the depot to replace a bad motherboard. Ever since then I have noticed a buzzing sound in the speakers when the volume is half way up or louder. I can press down on the top of the hand rest area, and the buzzing stops Has anyone else experienced this problem? I would hate to have to send the computer back to the depot for this but it's driving me crazy!

As one of the Power Options, I set my computer to "turn monitor off" after 15 minutes of inactivity. I am expecting that only the power to the monitor should be off. Background programs should keep running. Especially, any internet downloads shouldn't be affected. But it disconnects my internet. How do I fix that?

Note: I am only talking about monitor power off, not system "standby" or "hibernate."

Thanks

My computer monitor, HP LP3065c it's 30", makes a very very faint noise when it comes on. Is this normal?
If not what can be done? I've had it since it was first released on the market several years ago and I'm wondering if it may be getting tired.

Thanks for your help.

Answer:Monitor makes a noise

Likely the backlights coming on. As long as there is no flickering, and the noise doesn't continue when it is on, it's likely normal. If it increases, or stays on, well...you'll cross that bridge when you come to it

I'm looking for a way to turn off my computer's monitor with my remote wonder. I need a shortcut or an .exe file that simple turns the monitor off or puts it in sleep mode like in the power management options in the screensaver menu.

Is there a way to do this? Thanks.

Answer:Shortcut/EXE that makes Monitor hibernate?

This probably isn't exactly what you are looking for, but you can try this:

rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState

The computer is supposed to standby or hibernate based upon the setting at:

Control Panel / Power Options / Advanced / When I press the sleep button on my computer.
I tried it on my work pc and it hibernates even though I have it set to Standby.

I've been doing a lot of searching online and can't find anyone that has had the same exact problem that I am having. Similar, but not quite the same. I have had my computer connected to my TV through a VGA cable for about 6 months, never unconnected. I use the TV as my second monitor. All of a sudden one morning nothing would display on the screen, either the monitor or the TV. I messed around with some things and found out that it was the VGA cable. When I unplugged it, whala, the monitor appeared again. I can plug it back in and it will work fine, then eventually a few minutes later the screens will go black again.

What could be the cause of this and what can I do. Anyone!?!?

I've been working on this two months. I have a relatively new Dell 23 inch monitor and everything is wider than it should be. People look fat who are slim. They appear normal when printed out. I've used all the buttons including auto adjust, etc. and, although I am fairly computer literate, I guess I'm lacking where monitors are concerned. Could someone who knows what they're doing walk me through this.

Thanks.

I have purchased a refurbished 17" Dell E771P CRT monitor - only temporary until I can get a better one of course. The problem is, I have noticed that when I have white on the screen, i.e. when all pixels are on, it makes a sort of a humming/electrical noise, which is much worse when first switched on especially when it's cold like it is now. It only happens when displaying white, and it gets louder with a full screen of white. I've tested this by maximising white windows (e.g. Notepad) etc, and it definitely doesn't like white! If I display a full screen of red, green or blue there is no problem.Should I be thinking about returning the monitor? It's got about two months left out of the 90 day warranty but if it's not serious, or there is a way I can fix it, I might just put up with it.It's running at 1024x768 @ 85Hz (any less than that and I can see the flickering).

Answer:Monitor makes noise when displaying white.

Sorry - didn't finish typing my posting! I should have mentioned that it seems to happen at any refresh rate and resolution. Anyway any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance,Gaz

I have a Dell Dimension 8100 that started giving me fits a few days ago. No problems whatsoever until one day it would only boot into safe mode--before I could tell it to do that the monitor died. Tried the monitor on another PC and it worked fine. Then I tried another monitor on the Dell, and the same thing happened as with the first monitor, only now the monitor dies before it even loads windows.

I haven't made any system upgrades recently, and it still has most of it's original hardware (I added 1Gig of RAM a year ago).

Any idea what the problem might be, or how I can get the monitor to stay on long enough to try and run a few tests? I'd appreciate any help I can get...

-Tenthmile

Answer:PC almost makes it to safe mode, but then the monitor dies

It could be a few typical things: PSU, these come with a cheap 250W generic PoCrap. The video card. It could also be overheating, try removing the side and putting a table fan on it. To troubleshoot for the PSU, try disconnecting the pwer line to Floppy drive and CD/DVD and any other hardware, but not the HDD (you need this to boot to the OS).

Hi im having a very annoying problem. My pc has an ATI Radeon 9250 256mb AGP graphics card and since last month a really annoying thing has started happening. It's like when i play games for around 10 mins the monitor of my computer sometimes turns off or the screen goes blank and i hit the windows key and alt + F4 to close the game then an error comes up from ati about the vpu or something. Then it tells me to restart the computer and if i dont, everything moves around slowly like when i drag windows around. Im guessing its overheating but the weird thing is its been fine for months and i never had this problem. Im not sure why it suddenly started happenning now. I tried reinstalling the drivers / updating the drivers and even reinstalling windows. Im running XP Home SP3. (it was happening with SP2 also)Please can somebody help. Thanks

Hey TechSpot,

I accidentally set my video resolution to something my monitor can't handle, and have no way of setting it back. I've noticed, recently, that my computer makes a high-pitched sound, but there's more to it than that. It only seems to appear whenever the monitor is displaying a large amount of white or bright pixels. I'm talking about having notepad open, visiting this website, anything that uses bright colors. This is by far the most weirdest thing I have come across, yet. Even more so than my browser disappearing when I change it into windowed mode. Can you give me some tips on what I can do on this really strange case? Thanks in advance.

-Tony

EDIT: Actually, it does something different. The monitor kind of "gets used" to the pixels on the screen, and when the colors drastically change (i.e. opening up other windows with dark colors), I get the noise again. So, now it's "used" to the bright colors. If I visit my darker website, it starts making the noise, again. So, what do I do about this?

Welcome to Tech Support Guy

The first thing is to download and install SP3 as soon as possible
Support for XP with SP2 has finished and did so on July 13 2010
That means that no security updates etc have been offered to you since then

You may well find that SP3 will solve the issue for you

As you cannot of course connect you have two choices - one sort out the connection
1. If it is the wireless that will not connect - connect it hard wired from the ethernet port on the laptop
Also ensure that wireless is stwiched on on the Dell - usually Fn plus an F key

OR if you cannot

2. Download SP3 to another computer and then install to the Dell
http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=24

I know it says do not use on one computer but it will still work and t MAY solve the connection problem for you

3. If you are on broadband and you refer to the modem, as the modem/router provided by the ISP eg BT etc then it does not make a sound
If you refer to the modem in the computer that WAS used for a dial up connection and is not used on broadband
The computer has a modem port where a telephone line was connected for dialup and a ethernet connection I would think, where the line is connected for broadband from the modem/router provided by your ISP BT etc

YOU MUST not connect to the wrong port on the laptop

Additionally I cannot find a Dell Vostra 100 laptop where are you please as some models are only available in some areas
If by chance it is the Vostra 100... Read more

ive checked everything that is slightly related to sound and they all they are 'working'. but they are not working because i don't hear anything... ive also tried downloading Realtek ATI HDMI Audio Device Driver 1.59 from http://drivers.softpedia.com/progDo...I-Audio-Device-Driver-159-Download-24796.html

ive tried other sites too but for those, i need a user name and password, and i have no idea what that is... i don't know if i even have one. so since i cant give them a user name and password, i cant log onto the downloading page so i cannot download...what is WRONG with my computer??

I suspect this is a hard drive idling. I have Win8.1 installed on one HD and opensuse on another HD. When I am using the Win8.1, sometimes I get a hissing sound from the case. The sound that the hardware makes when I shutdown the system, except there is no shutdown, no error, no flickering of the screen.

I see a lot of threads on other forums suggesting that this is a PSU issue. I hope that my brand new Corsair is not to blame. The last reply on this page suggests that it is the secondary drive shutting down to conserve energy. I would be perfectly fine with that but is there any case that going on-off it damages the drive? Should I cut the power to the drive completely?

Answer:PC makes shutdown sound

HI Sailor, long time not chat.

I would check in the power options and set the HDDs to always on (especially if a desktop PC) and location is Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings

Then scroll down the list to Hard Drives and set to always on > apply and reboot and test.

Hi. Ok, here's what's going on with my computer. Originally, I had a CRT monitor hooked up via the VGA port on my graphics card. Everything worked fine. Then I just bought an LCD monitor, a Samsung SyncMaster 731B, with a DVI input. I tried to hook up the DVI to my graphics card, a Gigabyte Radeon X700 Pro 256MB PCI-E, and when I would boot up my computer, the POST would run fine, but when I got to my desktop, the screen would flicker from black to the desktop; black to desktop; on and on. I finally figured out that my cheapo power supply did not have a 24-pin motherboard connector; it only had a 20-pin, so my PCI-E graphics card wasn't getting enough power to do the DVI output I think. So I went and bought a new Antec Truepower II 550 watt power supply with a 24-pin motherboard connector, and my monitor works via DVI for my desktop and any routine, not heavy workloads. Then I try to play Battlefield 2 and the same problems arise with the monitor flickering to black and then going back to the game, flickering to black and then back to game and so on. When I stop playing, the flickering stops. Why is this happening? And what can I do to stop the flickering? I just spent 80 dollars on the power supply that has more than enough power for my computer or so I thought. Here are my specs if they help any: AMD Athlon 64 3200+, Gigabyte GA-K8N Ultra-9 mobo, 1 GB Corsair Valueselect DDR 400 Dual Channel, WD SATAII 160 GB Hard Drive, Gigabyte Radeon X700 Pro 256MB PCI-E v... Answer:My video card makes my monitor flicker black

Does anyone at least know or could take a guess as to why my monitor flickers? I know its not the monitor because I have tested it on different computers and it works. Is my video card just designed poorly, or is my mother board crappy and not allowing enough power to the video card? I don't think anything is overheating; I stuck my hand in my case and touched the video card and it wasn't too hot. Thanks!

Okay so I have been using VGA for a long time. I got a second monitor today and it uses the old VGA cable. So I hooked it up with the VGA and it looks fine. I then plugged an HDMI cable into my PC and first monitor. Everything seems like its worse quality. Colors are brighter or darker than before and the text is blurry. This is only with HDMI and it was fine with VGA. This is a 19" TV but I have been using it for a couple years now without trouble as a monitor. Background. Wifes Pc was having a problem a while back and I Restored Windows on it. Ran great for a while but I found it came up with Someones elses Name on it. I think it was a refurb and the box it came in didn't say so. This is a Gateway Pc. Now every once in a while my Internet goes real slow. To fix it I shut off my wife's PC. Goes from 1Meg to 8-10 when restarted. Now today her PC goes into Screen saver but nothing shows up. The screen goes blank and the monitor light blinks.I turned off the monitor and then back on and it shows one of the pictures from the screen saver for a second and then goes to the desktop. Also the HDD light is constantly flashing. I thought it was from the live tiles on Windows 8 so I shut all of them off. Still the light flashes. Before I call Gateway back up or Format it this time I thought you might have an idea on this. I also ran SFC /scannow and the log file shows errors and couldn't fix some files. And I ran a chkdsk and it showed errors that could not be fixed. I have a feeling I will have to make them replace the HDD. Thanks for reading and any help is appreciated.

Answer:Weird Screen saver makes monitor Have no Signal

OK I figured out the Screen saver problem. Either my wife or one of the grand kids changed which I don't thing they know how to the Power settings. They had the PC going to sleep at 5 minutes which is what I had the sceen saver set to come on. Also the Monitor was set to sleep. So that is fixed but the other thing about the HDD light flashing is still happening. Not when the screen saver is working but any time while just sitting there.

I've had a dino of a computer purchased in...2000.
My daughter uses it to play games on.
It's no longer hooked up to the internet.

Two nights ago, we tried putting in a game disk and it kept reading it as a sound file and bringing up media player. From there, it started making a horrible noise.
Best way to describe the noise is the same when you touch the sides of the body in the game Operation and the nose flashes. But a LOT louder.
We shut it down.

Brought the disk to my computer, worked fine.
Brought it back to the old one and then, it also worked fine.

Next day, did the same thing so, thinking it was the computer itself, took it apart, put the drive in my computer, worked fine. Blew the dust bunnies out and reinstalled the HD
Plugged only the tower in, nice and quiet.

Instead of hooking up the monitor directly to the computer, I plugged it into the outlet and turned it on. There was the noise.
It was coming from the monitor the entire time.

It makes that horrible noise, flashes a fast star pattern, in the middle of the screen to the tune of that noise. It's a repeated type pattern like an alarm.

It's also in the middle of the hallway now about to be tossed in the back of my truck heading for the dumb but I thought I would come in here first to see if anyone might know what the problem is.
I'm also tossing out the power cable just incase

Oh, also, for a year now, the monitor would not shut down with it's power button.
We had to shut... Read more

Answer:Monitor won't shut off, makes horrible noise and flashes

Not sure, but if its from 2000 then the best and most practical solution would be to replace it. It doesn't sound like an at home repair, and not likely worthwhile either. 150 -160 will get you a new monitor, either 17 or 19" with a three year warranty: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010190020&bop=And&Order=PRICE
And there's better deals if you shop around.

Hello! Registered to ask help with this problem. My computer has been making odd buzzing sound under stress for some time now. It happens usually when I try to play newer games but sometimes just using web browsing or Youtube induce lesser sounds. I've changed CPU cooler, GPU and memory sticks during this time, and that hasn't changed the situation. Here's a recording of the sound: http://vocaroo.com/i/s0lzb1fnc9RK

I moved the phone around to locate the source of the sound and I think it's coming from bottom half, below GPU, possibly near PSU. Is there anyway to test if it's the PSU?

I'd appreciate the help, this has been bugging me for quite some time. I know I shouldn't wait around with a computer making disturbing noice, but what can I say.

(One detail I noticed is that Speccy gives my memory sticks speed as 933MHz when is should be double that.)

Hello!
My PS/2 keyboard makes a ticking sound with each keystroke. There is a different sort of click for alphabet keys, numbers and arrows. The same ticking sound is heard also when logging in or shutting down. The ticking sounds play for all users. I have tested a wireless USB-keyboard and there was no sound. I have not tested with another PS/2 keyboard yet.
Systems sounds are all off, but ticking continues. The clicking sound responds to volume control, e.g. volume off=no ticking.
The Filter Keys function in the Ease of Access center are un-ticked.

What could be causing the sound? Please help!

Answer:PS/2 keyboard makes ticking sound

It was the Asus Xonar DGX soundcard that was picking up interference from the PS/2 keyboard port. I don't know why it started doing it, but this appears to be a hardware problem instead of a Windows 7 problem. I switched to the mobos soundchip, and everything is nice and quiet when I type my important documents (or actually, play Skyrim).

Here lately when I turn my computer on, it makes a different beeping sound than usual. Sometimes it will not stop at all. This may have to do with overclocking but not sure. I was trying to reach 3.4ghz but never really could get it stable and that seems to be when it started. Right now I am at stock settings and it still does it. Does this mean there is a problem with my cpu or memory?

I also just reinstalled Windows Vista if that helps any.

I did not see your mb in your sig. What do you have?

First time when i used Privazer I experienced the Hell Side of my pc, Luckilly i had creaded a Privazer restorepoint and registry backup before the cleanup action was initiated. U can re-enable hibernation in the Advanced option >>Memory Indexing, followed by unchecking pagefiles.sys , this woul help regain some strength of ur pc. It will regain its speed after a few start ups as the cache memore is to be refilled.

Hey guys.

Recently purchased a Gainward GTX 570 Phantom. When I start the computer up it makes a strange "clicking" noise. There are no loose cables or anything...+the gainward phantom fans are covered anyway!. I tried replacing its slot from pcie_1 to pcie_2 and same thing occured.

When I first bought it made the sound for about 30 mins. After I installed drivers and unistalled old AMD drivers and the let the computer run for a bit, the noise stopped.

However when I start the computer up now, for about the first minute I hear the same clicking noise>

I want to ask if is this something to be concerned about? Do some fans just sometimes make weird noises while "warming up"? I used GPU-Z and fan speeds+temp. seem perfect.

(P.S I have warranty, but I already had to RMA my last KFA2 GTX 570 and replace it with this last week, so unless its a potentially bad thing I dont really want to RMA it.)

Answer:GPU makes Clicking Sound On Startup

Well its not a normal sound so you definitely need to be concerned. There may be something in one of the fans or one of the fans may be faulty. Or it may be a power issue.

What is the brand, model, and wattage of your power supply?

Yellow!

I am having this weird issue with sound card lately. It only happens on WinXP. Never happened on Win98, but i need to be using WinXP, cause of most applications.

When i run some applications, the sound gets rusty, cannot explain what the **** it means, or what is the source of the problem, cause driver is the same as on Win98, and on Win98 this has never caused problems like that.

The BSOD it caused resets my PC automaticlly.

Answer:Sound Card makes BSOD

Hi again,

There could be several things. Let's start by making sure that your PnP is set to "Disabled" in the BIOS setup menu. Also, many sound card drivers do not work on both the 98 platform and the XP platform. I would suggest that you search google and download the latest drivers that are XP compatible.

Also, might be good to list your motherboard type and general setup including the brand and model of sound card.

When ever i play music my sound will crackle every once in a while. When i try to play some games the crackle will be constant. I put in a new sound card think that it was my onboard sound card causing the problem but it was not. I have all the volume controls set to 50% and it still does it. It does not matter what volume they are set at it still does it. If anyone knows what this could be please help me.

Answer:Sound Makes Funny Noises

So tell us something about the new sound card you put in and what speakers your are using.

Disconnect your current speakers and use headphones (as a test) does the crackle continue?

I looked through a few threads here on this forum that have a similar title but most of what I read isn't helping me. So I started a new thread.

My laptop makes a clapping sound every now and then. It is definitely not a hardware problem, it's coming from the speakers. I can mute it, increase/decrease volume etc.

It isn't a regular interval at which it happens. Sometimes the sounds are as closely spaced as 5 or so seconds, sometimes half an hour but mostly they happen every 2-3 minutes. There is no visual cue as to which software is causing this sound to come.

I tried looking through the processes that are running but that doesn't seem to be helping too since everything seems quite legit. This problem has started happening only since the past couple of days and is extremely frustrating when I am trying to work.

Can someone here help me as to how I should go about figuring which software is causing these sounds to come?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Answer:Laptop makes a clapping? sound every so often

Open Task Manager and write down or take a screenshot of what processes are running after you hear the sound.

Ok, so I know what I've done is kinda stupid, but I'm a noob at hardwares so it just happened lol. Here is my problem: I opened up my pc today to clean it a bit. I'm 100% sure i haven't moved anything and haven't touched any important parts of the chips and stuff when doing it. Except for one of the fans, I removed it to be able to remove the dust. There's been some panel under it that i got curious about (I didn't know it's the CPU), and just removed the cover and took out the processor lol. After taking a look at it I put everything (including the CPU) back the EXACT same way it has been before, plugged in the power cable and tried to boot the system. But now all it does is making a steady beeping sound (short beeps, it ends when i switch off the computer), screens are black. The fans are working though.

So I suppose this problem is related to the fact that I messed with the CPU, but I swear I've put everything back the way it was before. Please, if anyone knows a solution for this problem, help me.

My CPU is an Intel Core 2 duo E4500.

Hi

I think it's my harddisk (Samsung HD501LJ), thought I am not sure. The sound is high pitched and comes only sometimes. But it certainly sounds like something is spinning. The sound goes in the interval of a sound per 1,4 second, or so. Sometimes it's a single sound, other times its double or even tripple. It continues sometimes for several minutes and then it can be quiet for some time. I have scanned it with checkdisk, and no probs.

Do you think it's the harddisk? Can this be a serious problem?

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Something makes creaking/squeaking sound

It's probably your hard drive or a fan. When you're hearing the sound, carefully stick your finger in the fans to momentarily slow them down. If the sound goes away, then it's the fan.

You should also run Samsung's utility to test the hard drive. I've never used it before, so read the instructions carefully:

I just got a brand new e540 laptop in the mail last friday, and I found through using it, that it makes this really annoying sound. I myself cannot quite describe it, but it doesn't sound normal. It comes on at random intervals, kind of reminds me of the sound that a very very older desktop computer would make. The sound is really annoying and drives me up the wall, and I can't quite tell what it is. I've never had a laptop that has made a sound like this, even my older models didn't make this sound. Since, I can't quite describe it, I have a link to a small recording I made with my mobile: http://vocaroo.com/i/s1I9fUxFAN1t Anyone have any idea what it might be caused by, or if that's just how this laptop is supposed to sound? (I'm not well versed in computers) and that if it is abnormal it's something I can get repaired under my warranty.  The laptop itself has worked fine, it's just this sound is driving me insane. When I am using the laptop normally, it will happen at irregular intervals, and sometimes the laptop will be silent, and then if I run chkdsk this sound intensifies and gets much louder and persistent and much more annoying. I don't have time to contact support until this friday so I figured I may as well make a forum post here for now.

As of a day ago my pc won't start. I hit the power button, lights turn on on the tower, the monitor shows nothing, and there is a very quiet repetitive buzzing sound coming from the speaker on the motherboard. I think it buzzes six times and then nothing. I can then hit the power button again and all the lights instantly turn off.
Yesterday I opened it up and blew it out (it was VERY dusty) but that didn't help.
Any ideas?

Answer:My laptop makes a clicking sound on its own

SAS and Spybot are both antispyware and you should not use them both. Secondly, Spybot is outdated so you should keep SAS and add another anti malware software  http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free. Make sure to uninstall Spybot then try making a full scan on SAS and Mbam alternately after updating both security softwares.

Sometimes the fan makes odd sound, something like it had problem with moving
something like 'wrrrrr' and then it stops making the noise and works normally
What can be wrong ?

I also noticed that if I close the windows abnormally and restart it the fan is working full speed all the time
no matter how busy CPU is,
What can be the reason ?

Many Thanks

Answer:Fan of Satellite M40X makes sometimes odd sound

Hi mate,

doesn?t sound very healthy. I assume that your FAN has a serious problem and I think before starting a long discussion about it would be the best that you contact a authorized service partner in your country and send your machine to them since your problem is really hardware-related.

To find the nearest service center in your country follow this link:

I have installed Windows XP because i had to get rid of Windows 7 beta(Because it keeps shutting down every few hour!) Now most things works pretty well, except for sound. I know that this have some thing to do with driver, does not show the volume speaker icon at corner.
I tried Google and i could not find anything useful to problem. Then now i have found this helpful community. I know most simple computer stuff but not drivers

If you can help, that would be great!

Thanks A lot.

Answer:Sound does not work, makes me maad

Go to the PC manufacturer's website for the onboard sound driver. If you have a separate sound card, go to the sound card manufacturer's website for their latest driver. If you have onboard sound for a custom built or self-built PC, go to the motherboard manufacturer's website for drivers. Without knowing which you have, I can't be more specific.

Hello,

For a while my computer have been making a electric leak like sound whenever the CPU usage gets high. However, lately it started to make it more often. For example with anti-virus searches and malware search softwares, the CPU usage goes up to 80 percent and this weird noise comes from the CPU.

This sound sample i have recorded for you to picture the sound. This was recorded with microphone very near to CPU. The background humming noise comes from the fan, but I am very certain that this leak-like sound does not come from fan because it does not have a specific pattern and only occur with high CPU uges. The CPU usage was around 80% in this recording.

rapidshare.com/files/336732081/buzzyNoise.mp3

For information, my configurations are:

Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 GHz
2 GB RAM
Motherboard MSI 915P/G Neo2 Platinium ed.

so not that bad.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Anyone know if its normal for a cpu to make a quiet ticking sound when ac power is plugged in. This happens even with the bare motherboard/cpu on the bench with nothing else attached. It's a laptop, the machine died with no warning. Before disasembly there were no lights or any other activity when plugged in; could
hear this ticking sound, and took apart to find out what was making it.
I've never noticed a cpu by itself to make noise before.
Thanks in advance for any info.

UPDATE:
I removed the cpu and "YES" its still making the sound without it.
Anyway, I removed the cmos battery and left it overnight. After reassembling the laptop now the disk drive light comes on steady as soon as its plugged in. Still wont start. Light goes out a couple seconds after power disconnected. Now I dont hear the ticking sound anymore as well. Maybe its a bios problem.

Answer:CPU makes a quiet ticking sound

no the CPU isnt supposed to make any noises at all. Seeing as there are no moving parts in a CPU, the only reason it would be making a 'ticking' noise, is if you are actually hearing an electrical spark, which of course is bad news.

Hello everybody, first of all my apologizes for my approximative English, i haven't studied it for long and i don't use any translator. So why i post here ? Simple i searched since last week first on French forums and now here because i have no more options to solve my problem, i'm about to reinstall xp, this is the last chance i accord to this windows 7 ultimate "issue".

My laptop is a lenovo y510 with a sound chipset using the "realtek high definition audio drivers", on xp sp3 the quality was perfect, on w7 it's a mess. First there is a delay, for example i open a folder, i test the audio on the task bar, etc the sound takes approximatively +0.5 second to active himself, except when i play a continuous sound (music/video) here the sound appears in the normal delay, very strange...

Second problem, static, crackling, i can't listen music or any kind of sounds while i'm working (maximize a window, scroll a word/excel document, etc...).

Third problem, the worst, my onboard speakers (5.1) ALWAYS create crackling at the begging and at the end of any sounds, even when i plug the external speakers, and if i up the volume of my external at nearly maximum i can here the sound from my onboard too (weak but present) !

I tried everything people advised me, all drivers from 1.84 to 2.47 (include different compatibility) and windows updates ones, disable power management, powermizer, tried everything on the control panel in sounds settings, flash the bios, update ... Read more

Answer:Sound problem makes me crazy...

Some news, end the process audiodg.exe completely fix the whole problem...

I guess now this will be easier to answer, is this process vital for security or something like that ? How can i disable him from the start ? I don't want at any boot go to the task manager and end him manuely...

Thanks

Firstly, apologies for the vague thread title, I couldn't think of how else to describe it

Right, when the monitor (rather old 16" Sharp LCD monitor) is showing the colour white (such as a Google search results page, GMail inbox etc.) I can hear a rather audible high pitched buzzing sound, no matter what brightness the screen is on. Any ideas as to why? I'm sure there is a scientific/electronic reason as to why, it's just I'm not sure what that reason is

Answer:Monitor makes a high pitched noise when showing white.

I have read that the condition can be caused by low quality capacitors.
And I understand the fix (workaround) is to lower the refresh rate as low as it will go.

Also could be the power inverter for the backlight (same reason: cheapness).
Some people say you can epoxy the edges of the inverter to fix this. Not advisable IMHO - just replace it.

And if the backlight is fluorescent, then you could be hearing that common buzz that fluorescent lights make when they are close to burning out.

I sometimes used an old Dell Laptop just for my own enjoyment and it would run Windows 7. Then all of a sudden the Laptop stopped working. Whenever I tried to boot it up the screen/monitor wouldn't turn on and it would make a beeping sound. I decided to throw the laptop out because it wasn't useful anymore, but I would really want to know what the problem actually was. Also, since I've had the computer for quite sometime I suppose it was about time I had thrown it out..

Thanks,

Ethan

Answer:Laptop not working. Monitor broken? Makes weird noises..

The beeps might have meaning.  What is the model of the Dell laptop?  And what is the pattern of the beeping sound?

I don't really know whether this is related to the graphics cards or drivers or monitor or some driver/software issue but here it is: Windows Photo Viewer (my favorite image viewer) makes photos yellow, and also the empty space behind the photo. It only happens in this program, Photos app displays it just fine, so does photoshop. It's definitely a software issue, because everything else is displayed just fine, and it it was monitors fault, it wouldn't be visible in a screenshot:
And example of two firefox windows open:
Whenever I move the Photo Viewer windows across screens, it looks like its (de)applying the sepia filter. Again, it only seems to happen in this particular program, I haven't found any other occurrence. I have latest AMD drivers (and the issue has been since I got the new monitor - on the new monitor of course), I just removed both monitors drivers and let windows install then on its own, I don't know much about calibration, ICC profiles and such. What can I do?

Thank you

Answer:Windows Photo Viewer makes pictures yellow on 2nd monitor

If you go to Control Panel > Color Management, does it show the correct ICC/ICM profile for that monitor (Display 2)?

If you want to rule out the ICM profile, you could always make a note of the profile name and temporarily remove it by going to Control Panel > Color Management > Advanced > Change System Defaults > Display 2 > and then remove the ICC/ICM profile, so there is no profile associated with that monitor. To re-add the profile again afterwards, go to the same place then add the profile you just removed (it should already be listed, but if not it'll probably be stored in C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color).

Hey guys I have a problem with winmx. Whenever I run winmx and Im listening to music, I get a quick hiss or static sound for about 1 second or less.

I have always had this problem with this system. Even after I upgraded my sound card to a Creative Labs 5.1 sound card. It still does this.

This only happens when I run winmx and I have not experienced this problem with any other peace of software.

I've tried changing the drive letter, but that doesn't help. The usb appears in the storage management window but states no media. Also, the computer recognizes the flash drive in printer and devices. But from that window all i can do it dismount the flash-drive.

The problem started Friday afternoon. That morning I loaded a document. When I went to print it at Office max that afternoon, the file wasn't in the folder and the other documents appeared to be in a unreadable programs. When the employee tried another computer, the same thing. When I got home, the thing won't even load.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

With information lacking, it is hard to help you troubleshoot.
You haven't told us what version of windows you are running, if the mouse is USB or PS/2 and did you try it in safe mode (was the behavior the same or different). Also what model Dell and when did this start happening? How old is the mouse? Is it wired or cordless?

My laptop: Asus K52JR with Windows 7 Ultimate, Intel Core i3 CPU M350 2.27 Ghz, 3 Gb of RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470.

The problem is that the laptop freezes and makes a sound (from speakers), like a broken Audio CD, then bsod and restart.

First time I had this problem - two weeks ago - I sent it back to be repaired. They changed my HDD. Because my Windows wouldn't start and it appeared a message about hardware/software problem. I mention that the first time when it freezed I was watching a movie and downloading something with uTorrent. It crashed and I got bsod. But it and worked fine after. Another time (when my laptop eventually didn't start anymore) I was playing an online browser game and downloading something with uTorrent. I didn't got a bsod. I had to force it to shut down.

Now, after they installed a new HDD, it worked for two days. But again it freezed, maked a strange sound and restarted. This time I was playin the same online browser game, I was talking with people through Team Speak 2 and downloading something with uTorrent.

I said all these details because I don't know much about computers, and I wish someone could detect my problem.

Check the cable my mouse started doing that when my dog chewed part of the insulation off my cable, and also check for lose connection especially if it's USB.

It started 2 months ago... If my laptop is making instant internet-activities (like multiplayer-games, YouTube, or downloads), the sound is crackling. And it's because of the Beats Audio driver.I found out, because, when i'm using microsoft standard sound-drivers or realtek drivers without HP Beats modification, the crackling disappears. Where can I get an older Beats Audio-driver for my laptop? Or how can I fix it but still use Beats Audio? Others have the same problem: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/Crackling-sound-on-Pavilion-X360/td-p/3849598 HP Pavilion 17Windows 10 (clean installed + necessary drivers) Best regards,Angela Merkel :3 :* <3

So, after a couple of days of using my brand-new acer aspire e15 (nvidia 840m, intel i3) I started noticing a little "rumble" sound every once a while, a little click that can be heard approximately once every two minutes or sometimes even more often (expecially when putting more acrtion into CPU). No luck getting any help online, it doesn't seem to be a hard-drive failure sound or anything that serious, sound more like the fan hits something while starting up, at least from what I could gather without opening it up. Should I just contact the warranty service right a way or maybe it's supposed to be like this? Any help appreciated.

Answer:Brand new AspireE15 makes a little grinding sound ...

There is no moving parts in the lower left corner. This is a hard one to diagnose without actually having it in your hands.Did you check if you left a CD in the drive? If I heard a rumble and clicking in mine, I would think HDD.I know a few days use isn't enough to get a lot of dust in it, but maybe something got into the cooling in packing, etc. Try blowing out the intake and exaust ports all the way through and see if anything comes out.

Every time I use my sound card, It makes my computer reboot. Right now I have it disabled in windows device manager so the computer is running fine. As soon as I enable it , the first time i use sound or something like the screen saver kicks in the computer reboots by its self. The sound card in a PCI card called Muse XL by hurcules. I dont know if this is and irq conflict or something else but i dont know how to find out either

Answer:Sound card makes my computer reboot

Something easy to try first, move the sound card to a differnt pci slot from the one it's in. that should force it to use another irq

to view irq usage go to start/run/type msinfo32 and press enter, left hand frame, choose hardware environment, choose irq's. You will see the irq's usage listed in the right hand column.

I bought a W541 with 4gb of ram and 1 750gig HD with the intention of upgrading the ram to 32gb and installing 2 hds in raid myself. After I got the computer i found out that if I didn't order it with RAID it wouldn't support it, so I ordered another of the same computer with RAID to replace it. While I was waiting for the replacement I installed the ram in the computer and it worked fine. Now I have the new computer, the only difference is that it has the RAID chip, and thats working fine, but when I installed the ram all the computer would do when you turned it on was make a high pitch buzzing sound. I thought maybe it had gotten a static shock while I was switching it so I sent it back for another 32 gb kit. Today the new kit came in, and its the same thing, all the computer does is make a high pitched buzzing sound.  Any ideas? TL;DR: W541 with raid will not even post with 32 ram upgrade. I bought the G.Skill Ripjaws 1.35V F3-1600C9Q-32GRSL, but that shouldn't matter as it worked in the first computer.

Answer:32 GB Ram upgrade, computer only makes a buzzing sound

I have not used that RAM, but it should work. All I can suggest is that you make sure you have the latest BIOS. Looking at the change log, at least v 2.09 fixed a memory detection problem.
