Certified/Signed display adapter/driver?

Question: Certified/Signed display adapter/driver?

MAIN Problem #1:

Hi I'm wondering if anyone knows if i can find a Microsoft Certified Display adapter/video card driver (are those the same thing?) for my :
ASUS AGP-V7100 Geforce2 MX video card.

runnig win98/SE on a VIA chipset

The reason i ask is because when i look at my drivers through the DirectX diagnostic tool 's display tab it shows my driver as 'nvdisp.drv' and in the 'notes' sections adds :

" The file nvdisp.drv is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs. You may be able to get a signed driver from the manufacturer of the hardware device"

but when i look through the ASUS home page i can't find my video card. I know my driver is from NVIDIA and i've found the right page to update from them but i'm also wanting to update my chipset driver from VIA and they warn of compatibility problems with NVIDIA so i'm looking for a "signed" "certified" or "standard" adpater/driver?
[current driver listed as ASUS AGP-V7100 SDRAM v12.60 in the device manager]

The reason i'm updating my chipset driver is because i need to update my diplay adapter. And I'm updating that because i'm updating my direct X. All because i'm having compatibility problems with my new CD burner's "NERO" software (OEM version). Upon intalling and rebooting i get " Initializing Device IOS Windows Protections error. Restart computer" and get caught in a safe mode/reboot loop until i uninstall the software. So i'm doing what i can to solve that but from what i've read updating your chipset driver can cause serious problems and it might not be worth the risk. (I've read about people needing to do a clean install of windows if there's a bad peice of software on your PC). I've EVEN read that i might need to start by updating my BIOS wich is way out of my league.

SO : Is there a FREE CD burner software/driver for my "A-Open" Cd burner that i can download off the net to avoid all this stress?

Any advice on what to do for any of these issues or links to sites with more info would be greatly appretiated.

Preferred Solution: Certified/Signed display adapter/driver?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My motherboard has an Intel BT driver but is not certified and therefore not accepted by Windows. (code 52). I followed the advice of "disabling driver signature enforcement" alternatively enabling the option 'ignore' for code signed drivers at User Config/Admin.Template/system/Driver installation.
Nothing works and the device manager still shows the yellow triangle labeled 'Generic Bluetooth Adapter' and under Name: Bluetooth Server and Type: Bluetooth Auxiliary.
Can someone help me to get rid of the yellow triangle - thank you!

Hi.I am having a Z580 (Windows 7 65 bit home premium) laptop.Recently I am experincing many problems with my wireless adapter. After a few seconds of switching on, wireless symbol will show "Limited Access". But now the same "Limited Access" happens and when i troubelshoot, (Reseting wireless adapter) the adapter goes off and it is shown that "Adapter is experiencing driver or hardware related problems". When i looked into device manager it is shown that ""This device cannot start .Code10"". Also when i checked the details, it is showing that "'the driver is not digitally signed"".Please help me solve this issue asap.

I have a compaq 420 laptop with C2D(21.Ghz) processor. I am not able to install video driver for Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family on Windows XP x64.
I am able to do the same for winXP x86.
The Intel video driver and control panel app (sp47937.exe) on HP site does not work for win xp x64(says the computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software). This thing works for WINXP x86.
I tried installing chipset drivers (winxp64_14428.exe) from intel site but that also says not verified by the vendor.
I have WINXP x64 Service pack 2 installed..
I am currently making use of Default Monitor VGA driver. The problem is this does not support Hibernate mode and the application for screen brightness etc does not work..

Please help Me install the appropriate Intel CHipset drivers for WinXP x64.

Answer:Display adapter driver

Hi Ash,

This won't be much help: X32 and X64 refer to the OS. X86 refers to the Processor and is a very old designation. Most all processors are X86. Go for an X64 driver.

Good Luck, Jim

I have this laptop for three years now. My display adapter is AMD Radeon HD-6310M and the driver is 8.792.2.4000 (1/25/11). I have been told to update my driver as that an old driver might cause BSOD which I have had a couple of times lately. Nothing terrible, nothing lost, just the inconvenience of waiting for a reboot.

In my adapter properties there is an option to update the driver but there is also a warning that "if the device fails after updating driver, roll back to previously installed driver" There is a button to "roll back to previous driver".

I am 70 years old and no great mind. My questions:

1. Should I update the driver?
2. What actually happens if "the device fails after updating driver ....."? Would I still be able to see anything on my screen, e.g. the button to "roll back to previous driver"?
NOTE: Somewhere else - I don't remember where - it says "This device is working properly"

Incidentally, when the two crashes occurred I had Thunderbird, Windows Explorer, Libroffice Calc, and two tabs of Chrome open. I don't know if that is of any importance.

Any advice to this old geezer appreciated in advance.

I have a HP Compaq CQ56 Notebook with Windows 7 OS. The display adapter, also called a graphics or video card I understand, is an AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250. The driver version, as shown in Device Manager, is 8.770.2.2000. It is dated 29/9/2010. This driver was provided by the HP website and updated recently from the Driver Manager.

When I looked on the AMD drivers website and the AMD Drivers Auto Detect Utility I found that the recommended driver is titled '13-9-legacy_Vista_Win7_64_dd_ccc_whql.exe'. This is a more recent driver.
The AMD site adds the note that 'Chipset Drivers not included'. I do not know how relevant that note is with regard to the Display Adapter.
Would it be advisable to change to the latest AMD driver or just stick with what is there?

Answer:Which Display Adapter driver should I use?

Hi
Are you having problems with the display? If not don't fix what's not broke.

Hello All,

I am using Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller as the Display Adapter on my Desktop which has an Intel 82845G Mother Board. The Driver Version is 6.14.10.4020. It is over 5 years old and Intel are no longer updating this. It runs on Windows 7 only in the compatibility mode.

I am seeking suggestions for a third-party replacement for this Driver. I have no idea how to find the replacement. I shall be grateful for any suggestions from the Forum Members in this regard.

TIA

Answer:Looking for a suitable Display Adapter Driver

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the graphics controller itself is the problem. It doesn't support the shader model that vista or win 7 uses properly and has never been on the list of supported devices. This is a shortcoming in the hardware itself though.
So unfortunately your only real out is that if you have a desktop system. It's possible you can get a dirt cheap video card for it that will run win 7 properly.
If it's a laptop... you are kind of out of luck. Compatibility mode is probably the best you are going to get.

I noticed the other day when I uninstalled my display adapter driver, the Radeon HD8210, my text (fonts) was much sharper, not blurry. I'm the one that commented about the fonts being so blurry on my laptop a few months back. Now I see it is because of the AMD display driver. So, I tried updating the AMD driver only because I lost use of the brightness control. To make a long story short, AMD's website suggested a "scan" of my drivers and they would recommend a newer driver. So I did the scan and it suggested downloading the new Radeon Crimson Control panel along with a newer driver.
After a long time waiting for it to download and install, it caused numerous lock-ups or freezes on the computer. What ever it did, was so bad I couldn't even do a system "Reset" and I couldn't use the "Project" to another screen anymore. So now I'm having to do a complete format and re-install Win 10.
My question and hope is, that I can adjust the brightness, while only using the Windows default display driver. Brightness goes to full bright and I can't lower it. Any thoughts on if this can be done, maybe even a 3rd party software to control the brightness so I can stay with Windows display driver?

Answer:Any way to use only Windows 10 display adapter driver and NOT AMD?

a. have you tried adjusting the ClearType settings?
b. have you contacted HP for info on which driver they recommend?

Hello. My system threw a tantrum the other day when I left it unattended for several hours and the error msg suggested I might like to look at my display driver. Everything is working fine still and it's giving me no more grief, but it did make me wonder, so I looked at the driver details.Display Adapter - NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 100/200The Properties box shows the following info - Manufacturer NVIDIADriver Provider MicrosoftDriver Date 01/07/2001Driver Version 5.1.2001.0Driver Signer Microsoft Windows XP PublisherWhy does the driver show as 'Microsoft'. When the system was built would the graphics card have had its own driver software to be loaded? Or does Win XP have its own set of default drivers and it's not necessary to load the manufacturer's? Could I download the latest driver from NVIDIA (is it version 42.68?) and install it? Would there be any benefit? Or is it a case of 'leave well alone if it's working'?Sorry for so many questions again, but as always I can only hope that others might benefit from your help as well. Many thanks.

Answer:Display Adapter Driver details - what does it mean

If it's working ok, I shouldn't worry but there would be no harm in downloading and installing the latest drivers so long as you make sure that they're the right ones.I tend to agree with the "if it works, don't try to fix it" theory!BA

One day when I started my computer (Dell Laptop) my display is stretched out and fuzzy. When I try to change the resolution it gives me an option for 1024 x 768 only, when I know that it had higher resolution previously. One time a restarted it and it was back to normal, however it has been a couple weeks now and it hasn't returned. I'm assuming it has something to do with this:

Answer:Having problems with Display (driver/adapter?)

The first thing to check is the device manager. Type device manager, in search.
In device manager look for any yellow warning markers.
Check your graphics driver. Update if necessary.

EDIT
Just looked at the attachment, just as I thought. The yellow marker is there. Go to the website of the grapics card and update the driver. Its easy and you will be up and running.

Could anyone tell me what is the latest and how do I get it. I am VERY non technie! so I hope it is simple!! Also what is BIOS? (told you I was non-technie!!!!!)
Thanks GillW

Answer:Satellite M30 - display adapter driver

Hi Gill,

The latest available driver for your graphics is version 46.44 and you will need to check which version you currently have (in Device Manager). It is likely that you already have this version installed since the release date is May 2004.

The BIOS is a small programme held on the CMOS chip on your mainboard and it is responsible for handling the basic peripheral functions of your notebook so that your operating system can get on with running your applications. The BIOS is loaded when you power on your notebook and before the operating system itself starts up.

Hello guys!
Listen, I am totally out of ideas to try and fix my problem, so you guys are pretty much my last hope I'll try my best to explain the issue and what I've done thus far.

System Specifications:

Acer Aspire 5551
OS - Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
CPU - 2.1GHz Triple-core AMD Phenom II N830
Graphics - 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD4250
RAM - 4 GB DDR 3

Two days ago, my brother complained to me about his laptop, Windows seemed to have just froze, with screen tearing and weird lines all over the screen. I told him to restart his laptop. Upon restarting, the entire was black, with the windows logo stretched across the screen, all torn. But I could still hear the Windows noises it makes when it logs in, So this got me thinking, could it be an issue with his Display Driver?

I booted in Safe Mode to see if it would boot up, it works fine. No black screen, no tearing, nothing. Which makes me think that it must be a issue with his Driver. I asked him if he's made any changes recently to his drivers and he said no.

I next went into the Device Manager to find his Display Adapter, and I disabled it. I then restarted his laptop to see if it'll work, and it worked. No problem, no screen tearing, it logged him in fine. I next went about uninstalling and reinstalling his driver.

I rebooted it into Safe Mode and uninstalled his driver from the Devi... Read more

Please can someone help me before i completely lose my rag on this problem. I currently have Sims 2 Double Deluxe which has stopped working because of the 9.0c DirectX issue etc etc.

Looking more into this one it would appear that this is more likely to be Graphics Card related because in Device Manager i am seeing the Yellow Exclaimation marks under Display Adapters: I have two instances of Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family with the mark. The drivers i have are 7.14.10.1409 and they appear to be the latest.

The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1525 and i am running Vista 32bit. I am sure that this is the reason why the game will not play anymore but i have spent waaay too long on this one trying to sort it out.

I am totally lost. Someone please help me or advise.

hey behzadchtp, Windows Server 2003 runs on the same kernel / architecture as Windows XP. With it being a 64 bit OS, you'll need a driver that works on Windows XP 64 bit. Do you know if the adapter is nVidia or Intel? P.S. Lenovo's site probably won't provide these drivers. You can get them from www.intel.com or www.nvidia.com, depending on which card it is.

Hello!

I have an old noname custom-built laptop which has the following hardware:

Intel 855 mobile chipset (the desktop equivalent is 865, socket 478)
Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz socket 478 CPU
Intel 855G graphics adaptor
Realtek AC'97 audio
etc

Since the graphics card is too old, I cannot install Intel's XP drivers. If I do, after next reboot they are considered outdated and they always change to Standard VGA Graphics Adapter, which of course supports no Aero and no 3D.

After trying many registry tricks to enable aero without success, I gave up. All these tricks need a WDDM graphics driver and they are meant to enable aero in Windows Vista Home Basic WITH an WDDM driver installed. Since I used Standard VGA Graphics Adapter none would work. The same would be true if I could install latest Windows XP drivers, but then I would at least have some DirectX functionality.

When Windows 8 Developer Preview was released, I tested it in a similarly old laptop which had no WDDM drivers for its old ATI graphics card. But Windows 8 install Microsoft Basic Display Adapter instead of Standard VGA graphics adapter, which IS WDDM! Then I tried to copy all the relevant files (INF and DLLs) for the driver from Windows 8 in order to install it in Windows 7. Unfortunatelly installation fails, as it tries to install a service and cannot do that for some reason Anyone else that managed to use the Microsoft Basic Display Adaptor driver in Windows 7 or has seen anything relevant on the Internet... After running Windows updates, the Intel HD Graphics adapter has an error which takes out the use of multiple screens either through the HDMI out or USB 2.0. I have tried disabling and re-enabling the adapter, uninstalling and re-installing the driver. Searched on Intel and Lenovo sites for a driver that will work with no luck. The only thing I have found to work so far is restoring to before the updates were ran - which only last so long until the updates run again. Anyone have any ideas?

I have been trying now to install drivers for my Panasonic Digital Camera, which installs itself as a ZIP drive (it uses a 3.5 100MB ZiP disk instead of memory cards), and Fusion Dazzle which is an analog to digital convereter. Both plug in via USB. They used to work perfectly until I had to reformat and reinstall Windows on my computer.

I now get an error message that it is missing certain files (which ARE on the system) and it is looking for "C:\PCLEUSB.drv". When I point it to the correct driver location I get an error message saying that this driver has not been digitally signed to be compatible for Windows XP and will now exit installation.

I am using the most current drivers from the manufacturer and they say that they are Windows compatible and I am the first to have this problem. So far, they have been unable to assist.

Any suggestions?
Ed

I recently got a docking station for my laptop (Dell precision M65 w/WinXP Pro SP3 all updates) and when I plugged it in (after all the plug-n-play stuff detected the new docking station stuff), the mouse plugged into the dock USB port would not work (it worked fine previously when plugged into the laptop USB port). I undocked and plugged the mouse back into the laptop's port but it still didn't work.

I went into the device management applet and and tried to update the driver. There was nothing under "Mice and other pointing devices" except the PS/2 touchpad. Under "Human Interface Devices" there was an entry called "HID-Compliant device" If I deleted that device and then did a "scan for hardware changes" I would get the "found new hardware" popup in the tray and then breifly see "Dell USB Optical Mouse" during which the mouse would work but within 2 or 3 seconds it would switch to "HID-Compliant device" and then inform me that my hardware was ready to use at which point the mouse stopped working.

After much screwing around with the device manager and various other USB mice, I found that I could use the "Update Driver" right-click menu item to force the driver to "HID-Compliant mouse" by bypassing all the "Automatic" stuff. This resuted in a working mouse, but I have to do this every time I turn on the laptop.

Am trying to install HP Deskjet 630c printer and it keeps telling me this driver is not digitally signed. I just put Windows xp on the computer. What does this mean and can I get help? I am not very computer literate and any help would greatly appreciated. Many thanks Paula.

Answer:driver is not digitally signed

"Not digitally signed" means Microsoft have not tested this driver and verified it to be compatible with Win XP. This does not mean it will not work, you should click on the "continue anyway" to install your print driver. If this is a concern you should check the HP web site for newer driver tested by MS.Kim

I'll try to keep this brief:

> Upgraded GFX cards to 2 x Asus EAH4980 (ATI Radeon HD4890 architecture) from NVidia 8800GTS

> Performed full format on HD and reinstalled Windows Vista X64 Home Premium as well as SP1 and SP2

> Installed chipset drivers etc.

> Installed bundled VGA drivers (8.592)

> Installed miscellaneous software/games

System was running very stable and performing well in Benchmarking tests and games. I then tried to update the VGA drivers to the latest versions, first from ATI's own website - Catalyst 9.8 with VGA driver displayed in Device Manager as 8.640 - and then from Asus' website - displayed as 8.630 in Device Manager.

No matter what drivers I update to I am met with BSOD errors as soon as I try to run any kind of media on my PC. The dump files/dxdiag info etc. is attached to this post.

Upon investigation I note that one driver is not loading and is listed as 'not digitally signed', namely

ATKDispLowFilter.sys

This driver is an AsusTek release. It appears to load ok before I perform these driver updates. I can find no reference to any issues with it either on Asus' forums or elsewhere so this doesn't appear to be a common problem.

I've tried to locate a signed version of the driver to no avail.

Any solution would be very much appreciated.

Phil

PeerBlock is a fork of the popular Peer Guardian 2 software. Well the folks that are developing it have just received a legally signed driver for PeerBlock which means that it will run on Windows Vista and Windows 7 (32 & 64 bit) without the problems that were plaguing Peer Guardian 2.

Hi, I finally have my File System mini-filter driver working great, and tested it a lot on Vista 64-bit using the testsigning boot option. All was fine.

However, when I turn testsigning OFF and try to start the service (the driver), I get the StartService failed with 577 - windows cannot verify the digital signature. Note that the driver in INSTALLED, and the Registry is updated, etc. I just can't start the service (even when running as Admin).

It is signed using a Microsoft cross-certificate, based on the original certificate issued by GlobalSign, as directed in MSDN. You can examine the certificate using the driver's properties, and all looks fine.

I also tried installing the certificate, but that made no difference. This should all be correct, except that it doesn't work!! Any idea what is going on here? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I thought I was all done with this project, but since it doesn't work, I am currently screwed. THANKS!

Hey,

So I just upgrade to Vista x64 and 4GB of memory (courtesy of OCZ).

However, when installing the x64 version of MagicDisc/MagicISO I get the following error:

Can I get around this?

Answer:Required Digitally Signed Driver?

Uhmmm... yes, you can by pressing F8 at boot time and choosing to ignore the warnings about unsigned drivers, but you have to do it each and every time you boot. There is a way to permanently disable that driver signing requirement but I'm leery to give out the info anymore since it hosed a few people's machines recently.

It wasn't my fault that they chose to continue using shitty old drivers, but they blamed me for the mistake they made anyway.

Vista x64 is a more secure and stable OS than the 32 bit version, and that's one of the primary reasons why: the driver signing requirement. Disabling it or 'getting around it' will more than likely end up causing you issues at some point.

Google can find the specific method to disable the signing requirement permanently, or a search here might find it since it's been posted about 3 times over the past 4 months or so.

Good luck, either way...

G'day. I'm trying to install my old VisionPLus DVB-T card into a Windows 7 O/S box and it won't recognise any of the old drivers. When I try to install the TwinHan Digital tv software, Windows can't/ won't install them.

I've downloaded and tried the latest (DigitalTV 3.4 Build 19-02_20090212) and windows comes up with "Driver not found". I've tried to install in compatability mode but still no good.

When installing the above, it identifies my card as “PCI CX-87A with MCU DVB-S/-C/-T/ATSC card”.

Out of all the available drivers on Twinhan's site, which would be the best for my card?

Good evening,

I just reinstalled XP on a friends machine that was pooched. It is a Dell DIM4400. Everything is working except for the sound card. It is a built in sound card. When the computer boots up the new hardware wizard comes up asking for a driver for a realtek AC97 Audio device. I have tried everything I can to install the driver but each time I try I get an error that the driver is not digitally signed and it won't install. If I try in safe mode it installs but I get a blue screen upon startup and have to reboot. I do not have the orignial Dell cd but I have tried every driver from the Dell site that should work on this model of computer. I have updated the chip set drivers on the motherboard etc. I just can't get this sound card to work. Any advice??

If you have a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 and you install a driver that has a Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) or Authenticode signature on the computer.
But in Device Manager, when you expand the corresponding device, right-click the driver, and then click Properties and then click the Driver Details button on the Driver tab, you may find that the driver file is displayed as unsigned! This issue occurs because of incorrect logic when the Authenticode flag in the catalog file of the driver is checked.
To fix this issue download and apply this hotfix from KB2619914.

Answer:windows require a digitally signed driver xp 32 sp2

A signed driver is not necessary in Windows. It is an extra security layer, as drivers can become corrupt by malware. If you obtained the driver from a trusted source (like the device manufacturer's website), you can go ahead and tell Windows to install it.

I recently purchased a new pc that came with win vista 64 bit premium home installed. I am now reloading all my old programs and I keep getting ?windows requires a digitally signed driver" error message. I also can't seem to play my old movie files, all of which played fine when I had Win XP. Apparently Vista does not want me to make my own decisions, so I am wondering how I might go about disabling all this extra secure vista crap. Can I go into Control panel and disable the BitLocker Drive Encryption? Or do I need uninstall 64bit and install the Vista 32 bit? Would that be a smooth transition? Would all my stuff work again if I had the less securitized 32bit Vista? Thanks for any help you may provide.
Regards,
William

Answer:windows requires digitally signed driver

Welcome to the Vista forums

1) You don't want to disable UAC (User Account Control) as it does a lot to protect your computer from various malware. If you really feel the urge to turn it off, then you can in control panel in the User Account section. Once turned off, you'll get the red shield in the bottom right saying it's disabled. Disable security warnings by opening security centre and going to "change how security centre warns me" or something and choose the "no warnings" option.

2) Just download the Vista codec pack (just Google it and you should find it) and DivX and you should have no problems watching videos.

3) You can install unsigned drivers on Vista 64 bit, do this by running an elevated command prompt (right click on command prompt in Start menu and click "run as administrator".

Type this and press enter bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS

When you reboot, you should be able to install unsigned drivers.
Also, I looked on the HP website for your computer, and it has 6GB RAM, so going to Vista 32bit would only allow you to use about 3.5GB RAM. I also saw it only has an Nvidia 6150e onboard graphic card. Are you using this? As if you upgraded this to a graphic card, you'd notice better performance on Vista as well.

Hi

The last few times I started my computer, the system comes with the warning:

"Windows requires a digitally signed driver
Driver: Broadcom NetDetect Driver
Service: BASFND
Publisher: Broadcom Corporation
Location: C:\Program Files\Bra...\BASFND.sys"

Windows suggests to uninstall the program or device that uses this driver and check the publishers support site to get a digitally signed driver.

The problem is that I have no idea of which program or hardware is using this driver. All the drivers I have installed in my computer are from the computer manufacturer.
I have also been at Broadcoms homepage and there is plenty of things to download there. But I dont want to ruin anything.

Suggestions on what to do?

System: Windows Vista 64

Answer:Windows requires a digitally signed driver

Broadcom is your onboard ethernet, I don't see why it would suddenly complain unless there was an update.:confused You can disable driver signing but it only cures the symptom and not the cause.

Hello,
I'm at my wits end. Anyone who can help would be my hero.

Acer 5253 laptop, Win7 Home Premium 64bit SP1, AMD C-50.

Trying to use a USB mouse. I have 3 logitech mice. None work because hidclass.sys and hidusb.sys are not digitally signed. If I f8 and disable driver signing enforcement, all 3 mice work, so I'm pretty certain that's the issue.

Tried "Update Driver" via device manager. Windows determined that I already had the best driver and wouldn't do anything.

Logitech does not furnish drivers for Win7. They rely on the native drivers.

Acer does not furnish mouse drivers. They refer you to the manufacturer of the mouse.

Tried copying the files in question from a 64bit machine that showed them to be digitally signed. Renamed the ones on my machine and pasted the ones from the "good" machine. Resolved nothing.

chkdsk /r found problems and repaired them. Didn't help.

sfc /scannow found problems that it could not resolve. Looked in CBS.log and found no references to either of the sys files in question. No resolution.

System Restore only had one restore point, and it was from 2 days ago. Problem was already noticed by then. I suspect that it's been this way since I purchased the laptop a couple of months ago anyway, but if there had been a restore point back at the very beginning, I'd have tried that.

I have x220 with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Windows Vista x64 decided to implement a 'security measure' by which all drivers must be 'digitally signed' to be allowed to install and run. I have a program which is compatible with Vista and x64 bit operating systems, however as its drivers are not digitally signed I cannot run it correctly - I recieve the message 'Windows requires a digitally signed driver' and access to the driver is blocked.

Is there a method of bypassing this?

Answer:'Windows requires a digitally signed driver' - How can I bypass this?

When you boot your system hit F8 and you can bypass it there. You will have to do this every boot. There are a couple applications out there that will do this for you but the names escape me right now.

My harddrive went out and I put a new one in. It was a brand new drive and I loaded Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit from my laptop's recovery disk that came with the inital purchase. When I started to add the drivers 2 of them came up as unable to verify the signatures. Most importantly the driver for my Wifi adapter, which is an Intel Wifi Link 1000 BGN says this. Windows refuses to run it in that state. So I have no internet and it says that the adapter is not installed or is disabled. When I go into the Device Manager the adapter is there with a yellow "!" and has an error code 52 (for unsigned driver). It shows installed and enabled though

I installed the driver from the intial driver disc and it says unsigned, I was able to get the latest driver from Intel's website and that too says it can't verify the digital signature.

When I boot into the F8 screen and disable driver enforcement I am able to get online.

I'm not sure if this is related or not, but regardless of how I boot, Windows updater and troubleshooters do not work.

I'd appreciate any help.

Hi,

I'm having a really annoying issue where the only working driver I can use is the "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter". Every single other driver I have tried will all cause me to experience BSOD and the error message "Display Driver Has Stopped Responding". The issue appeared a month ago and it has took me up until yesterday to single it down to be a driver issue and not some kind of hardware fault.

My graphics card is a Sapphire R9 280x and so I use AMD Catalyst Drivers. The issue first came about when updating to 15.7.1 back when I was on Windows 7. I updated to Windows 10 to see if this would resolve my error but it still persisted exactly as it did before. So far I have tried using 15.7, 15.7.1, 15.8 beta and I have even tried just using the driver that Windows will install for my graphics card and all of these cause the errors I mentioned before. Using the basic driver allows me to watch videos and browse the internet fine however games are unplayable as the FPS is between 1-10 when usually it would be 60-120.

I am desperate to find a solution to this as I am just starting university tomorrow and I really miss being able to play games with my friends.

Any suggestions will be welcomed as I am willing to try anything at this point.

I have tried using over 3 different AMD drivers (15.6, 15.7.1, 15.8) and all of them give me errors such as "Display Driver Stopped Reponding and Recovered" and also BSOD with the error "VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (atikmpag.sys)". I would get these errors doing almost anything on my PC such as browsing or opening files however I rarely got them whilst playing games.
I found out today that if I uninstall my AMD driver it will use the "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" and this basic driver allows me to browse the internet and other things perfectly fine without a single error. Using this would be fine however it means that I get insanely low FPS in games (Under 10FPS) in games that I would usually get 60-100+ FPS. So I really want to find a fix for this issue.
My graphics card is an Sapphire R9 280x by the way
Any help would be welcome.

Answer:Why can I only use "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" as my graphics driver?

This is probably the wrong site to ask.
If you follow this through video_tdr_failure atikmpag.sys (Asus R9 270x) [Solved] - Asus - Graphics Cards
Suggests upgrade your motherboard BIOS. And check you are using the latest driver from AMD not the one through Windows Update.
The Microsoft Basic driver is not what you want to use as it doesn't use any of your cards features.

Hi,

This is my first post on these forums, so please excuse me if anything is wrong.

Details of the problem: I have a Sony VAIO laptop that runs Windows 7 Home Premium x64. I recently downloaded the same version from digital river that has SP1 included and installed it on my laptop. I installed the drivers that I had downloaded from sony's esupport site which went fine. After I rebooted and tried to install the rest of the drivers, I started getting the Code 52 error: Windows cannot verify the signature of this driver. I've seen that every driver can be installed immediately after the system has been booted the first time (after a clean install). Once rebooted, it starts giving the code 52 error. I can't install my iPhone drivers (through iTunes) or PS3 utilities because of this. I'm wondering what changes during the first reboot. I must also say that these very same drivers were used on the previous build of Win 7 HP that I was using except that it did not have SP1 integrated.

Has anyone had a similar experience? I know that the digital signature check can be disabled using bcdedit.exe but I want Windows 7 to work the way it should: it should stop me from using unsigned drivers while installing signed drivers correctly. Does any one have any clue to what's going on with my Win7 on my laptop?

Answer:Driver Digital Signature error when using signed drivers (Code 52)

Hi ajayav, Welcome to Sevenforums.

Boot into Advanced Boot Options and disable driver signing checking.

The Advanced Boot Options screen lets you start Windows in advanced troubleshooting modes. You can access the menu by turning on your computer and pressing the F8 key before Windows starts.

Disabling driver signature enforcement has helped a lot of users in fixing the issue.

You may also delete the USB "Upper Filter" & "Lower Filter" Entry and check if that helps.

This is more of a bug report rather than a question.

When installing the latest version of Message Analyzer 1.4 (Build 4.0.8110.0) on a clean installation of Windows 10 Pro (Build 14393.222), it shows an error saying 'A Digitally Signed Driver Is Required' Message Analyzer -- WFP Callout Driver.
I'm guessing maybe due to the new driver signing requirements in Windows 10 1607 Anniversary Update...

When I downloaded/installed Everest Home Edition I got and error message shown in the attached image although Everest seems to work fine. How do I make Vista accept non-digitally signed drivers that I trust? This is on my HP 6715b in specs, Vista Business x64[regaining space - attachment deleted by admin]

Answer:Everest Home Edition download. Message = driver not digitally signed

To be on the safe side, reckon the download was ruined by some kind of malicious software. Perhaps on your system.Ask a friend to download it and see if he gets the same thing.EDIT:Just did download from the majorgeeks. Works on both XP and Vista. Scanned with Avast and no threat found. You have malware. Or a bad download.

Hi all,
I am wondering how do I digitally sign my driver so that it can be installed on a Win7 Ultimate SP1 in a VMWare virtual machine. I have used Visual Studio 2013 to sign my driver and cat files using a certificate I obtained from GlobalSign. Both of these
files passed the signtool check, but when trying to install in this virtual machine it generates an error code 52.
Thanks in advance for any help

Hi,Our 7040 minitower has two standard (not ++) DisplayPorts. Our monitor is dvi-D (dual-link). Dell supplied the tower with a DisplayPort to dvi adapter. The advice received was that this adapter wouldn't work because it was passive. However, hooked it up and the dvi-D (dual-link) monitor displayed perfectly.Would anyone know why this adapter succeeded (when apparently it shouldn't have)?

Answer:How did this passive display adapter do the job that should have needed an active adapter?

Its not a passive adapter.
HDMI is bi directional and passive.
Display port is not.

This driver (or part of it) is not digitally signed, hence during silent install in SCCM TS Windows 7 x64 it will "hang" waiting to accept the unsigned driver (NOT during Apply drivers, but Sequence that runs setup.exe - I install ALL graphics drivers this way!)

Heyy everyone,

This is my first post on this forum, and it has taken me a while to post this thread since I have been trying to research and figure out my own problem myself by searching many, MANY, other related forums but so far have had not much luck. Also, obviously I couldn't find an individual who had the exact same specs as my computer who had the same issues, so I am going try and get help through this thread specifically for my computer. First I will explain everything that is going or happened and then all the specs are at the end of the thread.

Recently I downloaded a trial of World of Warcraft just to start playing it again for a little bit. I played it for about two days and then after playing it for about an hour or two straight, all of a sudden, the video card craps out, screen flashes, goes black, and then comes back within seconds. Then a message error pops stating 'Display driver igfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered.'.

Within those two days I was playing though, I was doing a lot of updates on my computer since I reformatted my laptop recently. So I thought maybe it had to do with the updates and decided to do a system restore. Of course with my luck, the system restore failed, and failed a couple more times after trying again but at different restoration points/dates. So then I decided so continue with my updates since I still had to install services pack 1, more updates, service pack 2, and more updates.

With every res... Read more

I know there are several threads but they are with different cards and they didn't solve my issue...

I bought a new MEDION AKOYA P5334E and the system arrived installed normally with win7 home edition.

I've installed on the computer the win7 enterprise edition (x64) and many drivers could not be find. I've installed nost of them, except the display adapter.
It's stuck on "standard vga graphic adapter".
I have the AMD Radeon HD7570 card but no matter what I try is not working!!!
tried to uninstall the current driver, tried to download the driver from the AMD website (when executing it - it's running but does nothing).
when executed the auto detect from AMD website, I got the message "we were unable to find your product or OS"

Will be greatful for any help!!!
Thanks a lot!!!
Ori

Answer:display adapter is stuck on standard vga adapter

Welcome to the Sevem Forums, Oraz.

If you still have the DVD of Windows 7 home edition and if it is also 64-bit then you might find the graphics adapter driver there which might get installed. Otherwise try installing Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD7570 in Windows XP SP3 mode.

Another option is to try installing the Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD7570 that you have downloaded in the safe mode. In case the this driver gets loaded in the safe mode then it shall install too.

Each time I start up settings in display properties resets to
Screen resolution 640 X 480
Color Quality low 8 - bit
I rest them to
1024 X 768
32 bit
apply and restart and they reset to the above.

The correct monitor and Adapter are selected.

I ran a update search for each and it says I have the latest driver version.

If I need to update the monitor and Adapter driver what version and where do I need to go?

Any Help would be appreciated.

I used to have the videogame Medieval 2 Total War on my new alienware laptop (using Windows XP) and it was fully functioning. I ended up deleteing it because I thought it was taking up too much space. Now I can install it but when I try to run the actual game I immediately get a message saying "Medieval II Total War has encountered an unspecified error and will now exit" and after reading through forums I saw a comment about someone having this problem and fixing it by downloading the latest ATI graphics.

I think I might know the problem but I am clueless as to how one goes about fixing it. A few days before I found out about this site and managed to find the virus that was slowing my internet, I was quite frustrated by the slow loading speed of my internet so I opened task manager and began ending random processes, I realize now this was not a good idea. I think I may have done something to ATI.

When I try to run the ATI setup (which has been on my computer the whole time), I reach the ATI Display Driver when it tells me "Setup did not find a driver compatible with your current hardware or operating system" then after clicking OK i received the message "Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup"

Answer:"Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup"??

You most likely need to get the mobile graphics driver. You can get it at.

I had to reinstall windows 7 on my acer aspire 5560g laptop, I installed the drivers on the Acer site. I found the legacy updates for my cards and installed them. And I am still having problems.

The monitor is not showing the native resolution of 1366 x 768, it's topping out at 1024 x 768, it's refusing to let me use the built in screen savers. It's supposed to be a duel graphics system and the device manager lists two under the display drivers. Both are listed as standard vga display. One with the little yellow exclamation mark. It's driving me nutty. Can someone help me?

On a side note, the slider for screen brightness has also gone missing, and the fn brightness control doesn't work either.

Answer:Display adapter now listed as standard vga display

You are missing the graphics drivers. To save you some time here I gave you a link:

Only been here an hour and already on to my second problem, lol.

So my only other problem is one little hardware adapter that has 64bit drivers... but they're not signed.

Is a "Syba" Serial to USB Adapter (SY-USB-S)...

basically I need to use it so that my battey backup can talk with Windows and give reports on power spikes etc... as well as control the shutdown of windows when I'm not around if there's a power outage.

Now, it's not a huge deal as the battery backup will still work of course, but the extra features won't work until Windows can communicate with it. Unfortunatly the backup only as a serial connection (and my motherboad doesn't) so I'm forced to use the "Serial (RS232) to USB" adapter.

So I'm wondering a few things.

1) can I force Vista x64 to use the unsigned driver from the company?

2) can I trick Vista x64 into thinking the driver is signed? (or someone mod the drive to that it is signed by me?)

3) Anyone know of a signed driver from another company that will work with this item? I assume a few companies use the same chip inside the device. All it does is make a bridge from USB to serial so it's a pretty simply device as well.

4) Anyone know of another Serial to USB adapter that has singed drivers that I could purchase to replace the current one?

Thanks again for any advice or help,
TK.

TL;DR: use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) from safe mode, after you uninstalled normally. Hi. I accidentally installed the win8 version of the display drivers for Lenovo Ideapad Z575 on a Windows 7 OS and it let me install it just fine, however it didn't work, Catalyst Control Center wouldn't start at all for one (can't remember the details because I forgot to make this post at the time when it happened) and I tried some ways of uninstalling it and reinstalling the latest win7 one again, I wasn't able to. So installing the win7 version after thinking that the win8 version was actually gone really didn't fix the issue. Seemed that the win8 version files remained somewhere in Windows folders and the win7 version being older didn't overwrite the newer version files, so the win7 version was still using some win8 files... I tried uninstalling the win8 version normally but also with a program(can't remember it's name, maybe it was driver magician? EDIT: nope, it was Driver Fusion, anyway its gui was red+white) which requires booting into safe mode and it deletes some registry keys (but likely doesn't also delete the leftover files). So, the only way that did work was uninstalling the display driver via Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU)I don't remember exactly, but I think I ran DDU(in safe mode) after I uninstalled the display driver(catalyst) normally, to perform any leftover cleanup. Not much more to say, except that this o...
