Problem connecting to Internet with cell phone

Question: Problem connecting to Internet with cell phone

For about 3 months now my Sanyo SCP-4700 cell phone has been involved with an intermittent problem. When trying to connect to the Internet via Dialer201, a message (Port disconnected due to hardware failure) pops up. After changing ports, port settings, Input/output range settings, and modem settings also memory cards, software (Dialer3), data cables, the problem still persists

When I agreed to a contract with Spinet, in that all calls I make would include data calls, I set up my computer with a clean windows Me image. I then installed Dialer201, then saved this operating system image to two hard drives a CD ROM disk and another storage type disk. At this time I was using a Sprint Quallcomm Kyocera phone.
The Sprint Quallcomm Kyocera phone worked well with this set up and I never had any persistent problem connecting to the Internet. Unfortunately this phone failed after a year and had to be replaced. Like the Kyocera, the Sanyo phone has shown no persistent problem with the operating system I have been using, until three months ago.

In order to remove the possibility that this is a software or an operating system problem, I have restored the original operating system image a number of times and still the problem persists.

When the message; Port disconnected due to hardware failure pops up, the port becomes non active and at this point when trying to connect, Dialer returns message (Could not open Sprint PCS Phone port (COM1)). And from there, the only way to be able to attempt to connect again is to restart the computer or wait about 15 minutes.

On 7-31-03 I upgraded the Sanyo phone’s PRL from 10014 to 10019 automatically by calling *2 but the problem still persists.

So my questions are:
1) Is this a common or familiar problem?
2) Is there a way to reactivate the port besides restarting or waiting about 15 minutes?
3) Would a newer phone firmware version solve the problem?

Preferred Solution: Problem connecting to Internet with cell phone

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have purchased an old Compaq Armada 7400 Notebook. I am wanting to connect it to my cell phone to access the internet, but I have no clue as to what hardware I need, or how to go about it. Does anyone know about this subject, or of any helpful links?

Thanks in advance! Oh, another problem is that this laptop only has one bay which can hold EITHER the floppy drive OR the DVD/CDROM drive at a time....SO...how in the heck could you wipe it and do a clean OS install, when removing one of the drives while booted locks the thing up?

Answer:Solved: Connecting Laptop To A Cell Phone?

Ok, what you will need to do is make sure that your armada has an IR port, and that your mobile has one as well. You will need to go to the website of your Mobile phone manufacturer and see if they have the software to support connectivity this way.
And you can do a clean install using the CD media that your Operating system comes on. It's not necessary to boot from a floppy first, as the Cds should be bootable.

Hi all.

I am considering purchasing a phone with Wifi capabilities. I have a wireless internet connection at home which is routed by a Motorola SGB900 Wireless Surfboard gateway.

I already have 2 wireless computers (1 laptop and 1 PC) connected wirelessly. If I purchase a Wifi phone, will I be able to connect to the internet via this wireless connection?

My work also offers free wireless to all employees and I am able to connect my laptop there. Will a Wifi phone be able to connect to my work network?

Also, will the Wifi connection cost me anything from my phone provider as using WAP does?

Thanks all

I personally use a cable modem with a wireless router to connect my computers and gaming systems to the internet. For some of my games that I play online with my Nintendo Wii I have had problems connecting with my friends online. I read online forums and found that the fix to this problem is for me and my friends have to locate the IP address of our wii, and then go into my router settings and temporarily put the Wii outside of the DMZ while playing the game. I have done this and it works fine.

However I have one friend that uses his cell phone to connect his Nintendo Wii to the internet.

Does anyone know how he can put his Wii console outside of the DMZ using his cell phone. Sorry I don't know what the make and model of his phone is. Does DMZ settings only apply to wireless internet connections? Would using your cell phone to connect to the internet be considered Wired or Wireless internet. Technically there is a cable that runs from the cell phone to the Wii, but i would assume since it is a cell phone it would be considered a Wireless Internet Connection (or Satelitte Internet Connection). I appreciate any advice or suggestions you might have.

Just found out that the phone is a LG Venus and his carrier is Verizon.

If that Helps.

Answer:Internet thru Cell Phone

Well using a Cell Phone would be considered wireless. But i dont think that you can set it outside the DMZ due to the fact that you are not connecting it via a router. It is using the providers service. So i really dont think there is a way to set it up to work like that.

Your best option with that would be to contact the provider and see if there is a way.

I live in the middle of nowhere, though there is semi-decent cell service at my house.
My question is, would it be possible/practical to replace my dial up connection with a internet capable cell phone, and the appropriate data cable? I'm specifically talking about T-mobile T-zones (the best coverage in my area is T-Mobile).

Answer:Cell phone for internet connection?

From my experience stick with your dial-up connection. It will save you money, and time. Just wait for a proper broadband service to come to you.

I can get Internet on my cell phone anywhere but not my laptop. Why? and how can I fix this where my laptop can get Internet anywhere like my cell phone. You go to a hotel and they charge you for wi-fi so you can hook up to the Internet with your laptop.

Answer:How can I get my laptop on the Internet like my cell phone

With mobile phones, you more than likely use a data plan. If you do have a mobile phone that supports using a hotspot, as well your service provider allows it, you could set up the hotspot and connect your laptop to that. I believe it uses your own data though. Many providers as far as I know sell dedicated hotspots that you can purchase plans for.

I'm not much into cell phone tech and am happy with my 300i but it's starting to show it's age. My contract is up too so it's time to replace it. I'm on at&t in Colorado and would change networks but I need to keep the same number (business use). With that in mind I'd like a phone that can access the internet so I can check my gmail and web calendar and also access things that are handy on the road like news, weather and maps etc. I don't text much either. Any additional functionality would be handy like reading ebooks, camera, video etc. I don't particularly care about media like mp3 or video. I never use my current phone for playing mp3s and can't see that changing. I also see my internet usage being quite low so what plan would suit me?

I like the flip phone I have now as it's protected and very small but would like a decent sized screen for browsing. I use an online calendar with my wife so just being able to sync isn't as useful as real time checking of dates (we share a studio and need to check the availability before booking it).

As for cost, lowest possible. I'm not into flashy phones so the latest greatest isn't what I'm after. Tech from a while back would probably suit me fine.

What model/plan in your opinion is the best buy for me?

You'll have to ask your cell phone provider.  Some have this ability, many don't.  In any event, you will pay extra for this service.

I have a niece who has a pc with Windows XP who would like to be able to connect to the internet through her cell phone, and as I understand this, it can be accomplished by installing a bluetooth card in the pc, and using a cell phone that is bluetooth compatible. Does anyone know if this works? Is it any faster than dial up?

Answer:Connectiong Pc With Wxp Sp2 To Internet Via Cell Phone

Hi DC3,

I tried that last year with lots of problems. You have to have a "data" type connection. Very expensive here vrs standard dial up or even cable modem. They wanted $10/500K downloaded. That would be one night for me. I tried it for a month, but it never connected correctly. That was a year ago so things maybe better now... hopefully cheaper. It was a cool thought, but I opted out.

Good luck,

Rigel

I'm going on holiday tomorrow to Morocco.

I'll get a local SIM for my mobile (it is an ancient S3 mini). I want to use it to access internet (either tethering using the USB cable or making a WiFi hotspot I don't care) with my PC.

Is there anything I should consider? Do I need to get a data SIM rather than a voice one or it does not matter any more?

Basically, should I get a data SIM (more expensive) or a normal (voice) one? Or is it the same from a computer point of view? Obviously I'll check the rates.

Answer:Pre-emptive help with cell phone internet access

The way I understand what you want to do is that you want to have the phone get internet access from your computer? The phone has WiFi.... if the computer is going to connect to the internet with WiFi, then why can't the phone just connect to the same WiFi? Or is your internet connection to the computer going to be by ethernet (wired) only?

If you want the computer to access internet through the phone, then to make the connection between the phone and the computer, I would recommend the EasyTether app. It will connect the computer to the phone either through a USB cable or through bluetooth. EasyTether has worked great for me and does work on Windows 10. Again, if the phone is connected to the internet by WiFi, then the computer should be able to as well. If not, then you will need a data SIM card for the phone.

this was not done with the card you can buy from verizon, rather, from a cable from the phone to the laptop

Answer:Cell phone mobile internet on a laptop

You will need a USB cable. I am not fimilure with your phone, but when I plug in my Fusic phone it is recognised as a modem by default, I have to go into setting and tell the phone to act as a USB flash drive to transfer music and such, perhaps you have to do the opisite and go into the setting and tell it to act as a modem device.
I have never tried to use my phone as a modem but you got me wanting to check it out, I have unlimited internet so it won't cost me anything.

I have an LG Alltel AX 490 cell I'm trying to send a Java game to, but I don't have mobile web, which is what all the mobile media uploading websites seem to need. They say to open up your browser and enter a url address. Is there any other way to do this?

Answer:Can you upload files to a cell phone without mobile internet?

Offhand, I'd say yes, by using either a USB cable or Bluetooth transfer. But I do not know the specifics of your phone. Look into the phone's documentation.

If your phone uses additional memory, like SD or microSD memory, then you may also be able to use alternate memory reading devices to place the needed files on the memory chip.

Many times the apps and other various files may need to be specifically designated folders to be used. Again, that is something that the documentation should be able to tell you.

Hi Guys,

I have once again run into a problem that seems to plague me and I am at the point where if I can't solve it this time I am going to take a baseball bat and smash my laptop and cell phone into tiny pieces, scatter them around the neighborhood and go out and buy new stuff that actually works and start all over again. Here's the drill:

Laptop: Dell E6501 Latitude
Built in WiFi antennae
running Win 7 Pro with all updates installed

Cell Phone: Samsung Galaxy S3
Has WiFi Mobile HotSpot capability as well as Tethering capability.

I did a search of the archives on this site and per the suggestions just updated the drivers for the WiFi card.

I can activate the Mobile HotSpot function on my cell phone. My laptop sees the SSID for my cell phone but refuses to connect. I get an exclamation point in the system tray over the signal strength that says "no internet access".

This problem has been plaguing me for 5 years. Sometimes I can access the internet from my cell phone via mobile hotspot or tethering and more often than not I can't and I am way beyond fed up. This should not be this hard. If the manufacturers can't make a feature work reliably then they don't need to be putting into a device period!!!!!

I am not in the mood to be doing screen shots of ip config or any other unnecessary nonsense to try and fix this. I want the easiest solution possible. Any suggestions will be appreciated and I will try anything. If this doesn't wo... Read more

Have you tried resetting your phone or update the firmware to see if the problem goes away? Or taking the battery out?

Answer:LG cell phone problem:P

Do a Google search for the phone's instruction manual and I'd be willing to bet that somewhere there's a tiny button (perhaps under the battery casing) that will allow you to do a "Factory Reset" which may help your problem.

Other than that-- no clue. Good luck, though!

Recently my Brother tried sending 8 pictures to me and my other two Brothers, yes there are four of us.

Brother sending pic's is using; A 4S iphone w/ ATT but says, "that's never mattered before".

My wife and I have Verizon and I never received the text message to my LG_VN150 phone I can receive and send, but it costs me.

He then sent the text to my wife's' cell phone a Galaxy S3 and she never received them. And, finally to our gmail account, four of the pic's for a total of 443KB made it, the other four were replaced with:

The total of all eight (about 1MB) should not have exceeded attachment limits for our email. I have asked him to download the pic's to his desk or laptop and send them to see if we can isolate the problem to his 4S.

Of the other two Brothers one did not receive any, I'm not sure of his equipment or plan; and one had no problem and received all eight, I believe he also has ATT.
I'm thinking some protocol with the Brothers 4S ATT text messaging is overriding the pic's but I haven't found anything on it yet and would like to know if any other members have any thoughts on this matter?

Hi all

A friend wants me to connect his pc to the internet but he has a problem. The phoneline is downstairs and his pc upstairs.

Obviously one way to connect is by running an extension cable upstairs but he would rather not do this so I am considering wireless as an alternative.

My question is this:-

What type of wireless access point should I recommend - standalone AP or router? Also any suggestions as to best make/model for someone on limited £££s would be appreciated.

Thanks

Answer:Connecting pc to internet without phone point

What kind of internet are we talking about here? If its broadband (DSL or cable), you could probably get a Wireless router from somewhere fairly cheap. If its dial up, there arn't many devices that will let you dial up automatically and access the net wirelessly.

FW pointed out that you could get a wireless access point with a serial port so you could attach an external modem to it, and use that.

Hello, I have a problem with connecting my SE K700i cell phone with Windows 7 notebook via bluetooth. I have paired them, file transfer is available, the problem is remote control (HID profile) - when trying to connect either desktop, presenter, kmplayer or any other, it always shows "Bluetooth connection failed. Hi

At work we are on a network, however occasionally we get people with laptops who wish to access the internet using their own ISP. I assume I could link them up to our network but this seems a bit too lengthy and complicated. We have a spare phone line which dials outside and is all working fine. Using a simple dial up modem cable and linking the laptop to the phone line how can I connect their laptop to the internet? The people who have a need for this tell me they can access the internet anywhere in the world by simply plugging their laptop into any phone socket, so obviously have an ISP set up which works fine. However the other day I linked up one of their laptops to the phone line but an internet connection could not be established when it tried to dial up.

Do I need to "create a new internet connection" and enter the telephone number that is being used to dial up, and assuming they can get internet connection anywhere in the world simply by just plugging their laptop into a phone line, how can I get their laptop to connect to the internet?

Thank you for any help

Matt

Answer:Connecting a laptop to internet using a phone line

Sounds like it may be the phone system in your office. If they are trying to connect using a phone jack, that is wired through some sort of digital phone system (aka PBX), then they will be unable. A dial-up connection requires an analog line, like one used for a fax machine, that does not go thru a PBX.

Certainly, these visitors can also be hooked into your network (if you trust their machines) and download their email, but, unless they are running VPN-type software, wold not have connectivity to their own networks.

The Goal: To connect my laptop to the internet through my digital phone.

I have a digital phone with a 3000-anytime-minute plan and I seldom use much more than half the minutes allotted in the plan. I understand thare is a data cable I can get for my phone that will allow me to use my cell phone as a connection to the internet from my laptop's modem.

I have seen "data kits" for sale on the internet; but, none of them mention anything about using them for internet access. They mention fax and other things but not internet.

I called T-Mobil and unlike it was in the olden days, no one knows anything much for sure when one asks questions not in their flow-charts.

Does anyone know anything about these data cables?
Can one actually use one to connect to the cell phone and dial up the internet?
Does anyone know what the transfer rates are?

T-Mobile does have a data package that runs supposedly at 53K and it sounded quite attractive until I found it is cell-phone-access-only and dialup from a land-line is disallowed. I will not accept that restriction.

Is there any information in the phone's user manual about it needing special software or drivers installed on the computer? If so, have you installed the software?

EDIT: Here is a link to Nokia's USA site with information on the PC Suite Software that supports the n95. Not sure if they have a different site for Australian users.

I do all my work calls through my cell phone. Is it possible to highlight a phone number and then right click it and have it dialed through my cell phone? My cell phone and laptop are recognized via bluetooth, seems like this would've been a feature well before now.
It would be nice if it would be functional from Outlook emails or even webpages for businesses or candidates.
Thanks!

ok like an idiot i was trying to get free software off bitlord and ended up with a virus instead. all i knew was my computer was being way too slow and i cant use my internet which should be working according to my network connections and the cable modems green lights. so i followed your antimalware guide - which was saved to a usb drive just in case this happens - as much as i could without a connection, got rid of more than a few viruses/trojans, and now my computer IS much faster but still will not connect...so i try system restore! and everything works smoothly up until the screen after the calendar which asks that you save/close any open documents/windows where the next button will not work. i did as much searching as i could with a cell phone but could not manage to find a solution so here i am to bother yous and i would greatly appreciate your help.

Hi

Its very likely you still have some malware left on your PC, and the logs would be needed so that our malware experts can review them to see what is left and how to remove it, just in case your saved guide is an older one, I will post the guide again below with instructions as its updated a fair amount and the tools used do change and update.

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.

If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can running steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.

I have a brand new lenovo R61i 7650-E8G. I have uninstalled some of the preistalled free-trial software (including antivirus software).  When I try to establish a vpn connection via Windows vpn I get a bluescreen with the following message: stop: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x00000000, *0xA74CC5D8*, 0x00000000). Also, when I try to connect to the internet through my cell phone I get a bluescreen with the following message (both with bluetooth and usb cable):stop: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x00000000, *0xA62DC5D8*, 0x00000000). I receive the bluescreen every time, the number *0x________* is different from time to time.  With my previous laptop (DELL Inspiron 6400) I did not experience these problems and windows vpn connection and internet connection through cell phone worked without any problems. I am confused what to do? Please help..

Answer:bluescreen 0x0000008E when try to establish vpn connection or internet connection using cell phone

Hi, unfortunately I can't give you any advice, because I'm stuck with exactly the same problem. I've tested it with different VPN Types (PPTP, L2TP) and different VPN-Servers without any success. The VPN is established successfully, but when Windows recieves it's network configuration it stops with a BlueScreen and 0x0000008e. According to your cell phone issue, it seems that it is only related to the mechanism that assigns network settings provided by ppp, and not by the network drivers. It can be reproduced by using WLAN and LAN with chipsets and device drivers from different vendor. I hope that someone from Lenovo Support Team reads this posting.Message Edited by flaiti on 10-23-2008 03:59 AM

I have an LG D380 and I used to connect it to a Win 7 laptop via USB, never had any problems. Now I have ASUS N751J and when I try to connect the phone to it, the phone connects (on the phone connection is set to MTP), I see the message "connected as media device" on the phone and I can see the phone's internal storage on the laptop in the explorer.

This lasts about a second, then the phone disconnects and disappears from the laptop as well. Then it immediately connects again... and disconnects, so it's an endless loop of quick connects and disconnects.

Does anyone knows what can cause it?

I tried two different cables and all 3 available USB ports, doesn't make any difference. As I said before never had a problem with another ASUS running Win 7.

Does anyone know if there is a way to hook up a cell phone to a fax machine?

thanksClick to expand...

interesting thread here...
my 1st thought is to keep it simple...
send text data from cell to PC...
then fax from there...
.
also there are programs for getting fax to e-mail, ...
like E-fax whatever...
and then you can read email (fax message) on your cell...
.
of course the real question I have for you is what phone do you have that can attempt this?
.
I believe there are cell phones out there on the market that can kick my PC's butt...
ya' know what I'm sayin'?

I myself can send and receive faxes but without printing, just strictly through e-mail.

I need to get my printer ink refreshed, (my color got things all dried up) meanwhile at least I know what fax I got,

sometimes I go to the library and open my e-mail and print from there...rolleyes
black n white not so much of a problem.

I just got a Samsung Intensity 2 and am looking to transfer my contacts from my old phone.
I had a Palm Centro that has infrared and have seen the infrared used to transfer that information before, I just have no idea how to do it.

Any ideas, or should I take them to the Verizon store and let them do it?
The nearest Verizon store is about 20 minutes away.
TIA.

Answer:Got new cell phone.

Hi. Verizon has a service that is free for their phones called Backup Assistant that you just have to activate. Have you already activated your new phone? From what I'm seeing, the Palm Centro is compatible with it. The problem is if you have already transferred your number to your new phone.

It's pretty easy, using Verizon's site, to transfer you number from one phone to another, set up backup assistant, reactivate your new phone, then again activate backup assistant. Verizon has it all layed out for you, or you could call their customer service and they'd do it all for you.

https://wbillpay.verizonwireless.com/vzw/nos/ba_nab/overview_def.jsp

So I guess the questions are:

-Have you already activated your new phone?
-Do you have an online account set up with them?

Answer:Cell phone

Without any clue as to model numbers, its a hard call to offer constructive advice, but the Palm unit will allow the export (from the PC based copy on Palm Desktop) of the addresses and numbers to a .csv file.

If your new phone has connectivity to the PC, then it may be able to import them, but that would depend widely on the model and your own ability to connect it to a PC.

Alternatively the Palm will usually allow IR (InfaRed) beaming of the addresses, and if your new phone will receive IR data then that may be possible.

So my 2 year contract has been up for my cell phone, but my iPhone 4 is in absolute perfect working order. Of course, every time I have to call Verizon Wireless for any questions, they like to tell me that I am eligible for a new upgrade.rolleyes The last thing I want to do is upgrade (and pay $300) just so I could get that obnoxious 'Siri' voice with the iPhone 4S. On top of that, I pretty much despise Apple as a company based on my own experiences with their products and particularly their support. On top of that, I can't stand that when you buy anything Apple, they make it very difficult to use it with anything non-Apple...including their itunes songs (which I stopped buying about 3 years ago in favor of Amazon's mp3's).

SO, now with the announcement of the Apple iPhone 5, I decided to go out there and see what else is just as good or better than an iPhone.

In my research, I found the Samsung Galaxy S3, but that's a droid and I'm not a droid fan, which is why I went with the Apple.

The other one I found that I Want! and will definitely buy if it's as good as it looks is the Nokia Lumia 920, which will be Windows 8 based: http://www.nokia.com/us-en/products/phone/lumia920/ Typically, I don't get excited about phones, but this thing, based on specs and ability, looks awesome. Not to mention its awesome looking.:drool The problem is Verizon has traditionally not carried the high end Nokia or windows based phones.

Answer:What cell phone do you want?

iPhone 5 basically is slimmer and has a bigger screen without HD that Android has been doing for years. If I didnt have all these paid for apps on my iPhone then I would go Android at this point. The iPhone 5 brings very little to the table this round.

Hello,

I purchased Motorola Phone Tools and a USB cable to transfer some of my mp3's to my cell phone. When I uploaded them successfully, the quality was greatly reduced and I can't figure out a way to modify them - it sounds very scratchy when I set it as a ringtone. I don't see any option that the program gives me to modify bitrate, etc (my friend uses BitPim which is not compatable with my phone, but his ringers are much higher quality). If anyone can help me increase the quality, I'd appreciate it!

some extra info in the "preview" section when I'm about to send it to my phone:

44,100 Hz
Quality: 16 bit stereo

Thanks!

Question: Cell Phone

I know this is not a computer type of thing but it is about Cell Phones.

My Sister has a Boost Mobile Android Cell Phone and now she is going to get rid of it and get a Virgin Mobile Android Cell Phone.

Virgin Mobile told her she can take her old Cell Phone Number to her new Cell Phone.

So I went into her old Cell Phone Settings and went into Backup And Restore option.

It was under Settings all the way near the Bottom.

In here I see Backup With Wi Fi
so I put a Check in it.

Then I see Backup Data
So Tap it and I pick my Sisters G Mail Account Name.

And this is it I did not see anything like a List
Cell Phone Book
Contacts

So is my Sisters Cell Phone Phone Numbers Backed Up?

Answer:Cell Phone

That would backup her data and contacts and maybe apps data and such.

When you call Virgin to activate the new phone, you'll be asked the old phone's number and the new phone's serial number and within a short time delay-maybe 20 minutes the number will be transferred to the new phone and the old one will no longer have service.

I have a cell phone that uses a small memory card. It came with an adapter to fit inside the size of one for a digital camera. I want to put music on the card then put it back into my phone. Is there a cord I can use? I tried putting the card into my digital camera and dragging music files over to the camera but that didn't work. Any suggestions?

Answer:Music to my Cell Phone

You need to get the right cord for your phone, a USB cord, and also the right software from your phone's manufacturer's website.

I have a Nokia 3560 and every once in awhile, instead of sound coming from the ear speaker, it sounds like its coming from the bottom of the phone (where the charging and accessory plug are). and whoever i happen to be talking says they hear themselves echo. its almost as if the phone is acting like a speakerphone. its highly annoying. does any have any ideas on what the problem is? its a fairly new phone. i called nokia, but they outsource support to people in india and i cant really understand them and they cant understand me.

Answer:A cell phone is hardware....right?

FWIW, some cellphones do have a speakerphone capability, my Samsung has it, and I find it very useful. It's great in the car or on the road for conference calls from hotel conference rooms.

Is it bad that my cell phone resting place is right next to my external hd?
I just noticed too that my bose computer speaker is very close to the hd as well, do these devices have magnets that will negatively affect the hd?

Answer:Cell phone and external hd

Yes, they have magnets. The speaker ones are likely more powerful. Don't know if they'll significantly affect your HD, but I would guess probably not. Better safe than sorry though, so just don't get them too close, if you can help it.

Just purchased a new Motorola Razr V3xx cell phone. I would like to transfer pictures from my laptop to the phone via USB cable. I have the cable but now I'm informed by Motorola that I have to purchase the software (data connection tool package) Is there any way to pick up this software free or is there another way to download my pictures to the phone besides using the memory card which I also can't use on my laptop.

Hi! I hope someone can help me. I can't find the drivers anywhere to install my cell phone so that I can download my own ringtones. I have searched everywhere I can think of with no luck. I have a UTStarcom CDM 7126M cell phone and an Acer Aspire 5920 Notebook with Windows XP Pro. My computer recognizes my phone but can't locate the drivers to install it. HELP!!!

Answer:Need cell phone drivers

You may try going to your cellular provider to see if they have a CD which should have come with your system. I have been searching the web but no luck yet. Will keep looking. You can try the website http://www.driverguide.com Free but you have to sign up.
