Preferred Solution: Ibuypower or eMachines?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Ibuypower or eMachines?

Hey.

I have never heard of an Ibuypower, but I do have an Emachine. I am still using an Emachine 333id model. I would say an Emachine. Go with what I know LOL.

I am on my 3rd machine (4th if you want to be technical). Built the third time. Build the machine if you can afford it. If you check my past post you can see just how fustrating it can be, but normally not that hard.

I have a eMachines ET1831-07 Desktop PC with an eMachines EMCP73VT-PM Motherboard and was wondering where can I get the full documentation or manual for this board? Or as detailed specs as possible. Information I am looking for includes but is not limited to:Memory Achitecture: I need to know what is the max size, speed, and type this motherboard will accomodate.External Graphics: I need to know what type of explansion slot the PCI-Express x16 Slot is, what card dimentsions it accomodates from slot to memory bank, or how many slots high the graphic card can be.Processor Upgrades: What socket is this motherboard? What processors are compatiable with this motherboard? What is the Front I/O Header Pinout? What is the pin placement for the power switch, power led, hdd led, etc.Thank you in advance,Josh PS. Why is it that the companies that build these stock units, fail to give us any documentation on the stuff that is inside them, seal the case for year, then after the first year REFUSE to even speak to or share the build's INFORMATION with the customer? What ARE we paying for?!

Question: www.ibuypower.com

http://www.ibuypower.com/mall/lobby.htm

has anyone heard good/bad things about this site?

I'm someone who lacks the ability to build their own PC and i've seen quite a few people recommend this site for building gaming rigs, so i was wondering if this is a good place to buy a PC from...

Answer:www.ibuypower.com

my desktop is an ibuypower computer which i think is pretty good but their tech support is really sh*tty and on top of that say if u purchase 2GB of ram and your motherboard will only support 1gb they will only give u the 1gb and they wont even tell that ur mobo aint compatiable with it. if u want to build a ocmputer there like i did i searches the stuff i was getting and made sure it would work with each other. but if u can get it built and it performs well its a kick ass computer like mine

Answer:IBuyPower & CyberPower PC

I should clarify -- is there an increased risk of getting a broken machine, and if that happens, how is the support? Resellerratings.com has some mixed opinions.

I want to build a Laptop computer for ~ $2000. Ibuypower seems to be the only site where I can find a laptop that is high performance, good price, and 15in. Everywhere else (that I can find) only has laptops that are either less good spec's, or good spec's and 17in.

Any input would be much appreciated !

Having issues with BSOD and i can't find out why or how it happens. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
thank you. I've never used a forum before, and have no idea what else to do in my position. I uploaded the files that you will need to solve this if you can, thanks again. Also my temps read around 40-60 because i play mmos, and my rear fan runs hard core alot even with case open, and idk if its just the fact that its a gaming pc or if it is telling me of a soon to come heat problem.

Answer:BSOD like many others. New iBuyPower....

Hi,

Uninstall Avast then use the removal tool. Set Windows Firewall and Windows Defender to Automatic and start them too, using services.msc.

Update Realtek HD Audio codec driver from their website:

RTKVHD64 RTKVHD64.sys Fri Mar 29 09:40:06 2013 (515599B6)

Update motherboard bios to newest version.

Likely that the memory is not configured well, mismatched, or defective.

Please attach a screenshot of CPU-Z first tab, one of memory tab and one each for each stick of RAM of SPD tab - along with newest crash dumps - if necessary after completing the above. (Or perhaps Avast removal is the trick instead.)

Does anyone out there know if the iBuypower computers or other computer out there on like Tigerdirect or the ZT brands from Costo are any good? I've never heard of them but keep seeing them popping up everywhere....

I've only ever had a Dell, HP or Gateway machine.

Answer:iBuypower and other non-namebrand computers

They're most often made from quite much better quality parts than Dell, etc as they don't get exclusively extra cheap motherboards and other parts like the big brand companies. They do sometimes use lower quality power supplies though, quite a feat considering what the factory built boxes have. I wouldn't recommend getting any of them without modifying it yourself and selecting a quality power supply for it, or replacing it yourself to save a few dozen dollars, as well as getting a longer warranty for the PSU.

Hi everyone...I'm in the process of getting a new computer and I'm currently looking at this online place called www.ibuypower.com ... basically that site lets you choose the components and they'll put it together for you. I searched the parts on NewEgg and the price actually came out higher hahah

Anyway, what's troubling me is that a look at their ratings at ResellerRatings.com is "great" http://www.resellerratings.com/seller2001-p3-s1-d1.html

So my question is has anyone here had experiences with that company along with suggestions, etc. Thanks in advance.

This was an "Opened and resealed" deal from nobetterdeal.com. I knew the unit wouldn't last for too long as-is but I did at least expect it to work on arrival. Out of the box it would turn on for about half a second and then it would die. After I got it opened, I reseated RAM and GPU and all of the other motherboard connections and then it would start. When I connect it to a monitor, though, the monitor  just sits there in a dormant state. BIOS doesn't even try to run. Neither the motherboard's connection nor the graphic card's will work. I know the motherboard is at least partially functional because the CPU and GPU fans are running. The tech told me it was either the motherboard or the PSU, but given that the stock PSU that they use on Amazon is only $25, I'm betting that it's the PSU, but I'm not an expert. I had the tech trace the serial number and it turns out that this website nobetterdeal bought the unit from amazon. com after a customer returned it. I have about 24 days to decide on getting a refund or keeping the parts. What do you think? Does it sound like the PSU? Or is it more likely the motherboard? Thanks!Specs: Motherboard: Gigabyte Ultra Durable GA-78LMT-USB3PSU: ALLIED ATX12V Model #:  SL-8320BTXOther Specs:     AMD FX-4130 (3.8GHz)    8GB DDR3, Power Supply: 300 WATT    1000 GB 7200 rpm Hard Drive    AMD Radeon 6670 1GB    Windows 8

Answer:iBuyPower Dead On Arrival

Update: I've tried starting the computer with 1 stick of RAM installed and no RAM installed. Didn't make a difference. I've also tried starting it without the graphics card. \Also, the CD-ROM drive will not open. I've confirmed that it's connected to the PSU and the motherboard, but no love. I'm not really sure what that implies. If it sounds like the PSU I think I'll take the plunge and buy another one for $25. If it might be the motherboard too..idk.

I found a really decent laptop from iBuyPower.com, but I have a concern about it.

When I google search P170EM, I find that it's made by "CLEVO". And that it's listed a LOT cheaper at other places. I'm willing to spend $1700 on a laptop with no questions asked. But if I can get it cheaper, and more options, then I'll go that route. So what gives? I also find that Sager NP9170 is extremely familiar to the one at ibuypower.com

Either way, what are some good websites that offer gaming laptops? I've been messing with iBuyPower, SagerLaptops.. I'd REALLY like to have a AsUS laptop but I can't configure them :'(

The Dell Online Store: Build Your System

Answer:Ibuypower Or Cyberpower Laptops?

Ummm , the styling looks a little old, like the " C " series Dell. It is also AMD. More then likely it is a good notebook. awahat you have to think about is worst case scenario, this probably will not happen, what if you have a major failure. How good are they with warranty. Will they send you the part like Dell does or will you need to send the whole notebook in. I see a lot of Dells which also means if a few years down the road you crack the LCD, you more then likely can buy one on ebay instead of paying double or triple from the OEM. Also site support like drivers. support email. How much do you have to spend ? Have you looked at alienware notebooks ( they are owned by dell)

Hey all, new to the forums and in pretty serious need of some help. I bought an IBUYPOWER prebuilt gaming rig last... April I think, and its been working great for me. Recently however ( the last month or so), the sound keeps going out. It went out for about a week before randomly coming back (nothing I did), and now its been gone for about 2-3 weeks. The sound icon down by the clock shows a red x and says that no speakers are plugged in. I've tried a bunch of things to try and get my audio back on, but no luck. I'm not sure what I would need to provide here for anybody to help me, or what I SHOULDNT post for security reasons, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Some important notes
*I have Windows 7
*I have two jacks for my speakers, one in the back where you would typically expect to find one, but also an additional one in the front panel. Neither one apparently works, leading me to believe its a driver issue.
*Gosh idk what else to put down! any help would be greatly appreciated, I used to think I was capable with computers but this seems to be beyond me

Hey!
What seems to be wrong us that the UEFI can't seem to detect the harddrives when determining boot order? That's my best guess. I really have no idea. If I load Bootable media, such as my installation drive, it detects it just fine and all my components are fine and I'm able to format and install as I please.
However, I'm unable to access the UEFI configuration, as the pc just stops.
Twice in the past few days it's been able to work itself out and boot as normal, so I know it's not a harddrive issue, but it's extremely rare.
I formatted and installed a fresh windows on a secondary drive to see if that would help to both avail.
I have a video showing what happens, but I can't upload it

Back in December 2009 I bought a computer from iBuypower. I have just recently noticed how slow the install is because I got a new copy of Windows 7 for my 13inch MacBook Pro(2.66 Core2, 4GB RAM) and it seems to run games faster and be more stable. Could it just be a early version of 7 that is causing the problem? or is it hardware?

I have a 2 year old laptop and two weeks ago it stopped charging. So I took it to a repair shop that fixed it and then this week it stops charging. My wife and I noticed a funny smell the past few days. I am short on cash so we i opened my laptop up and took my motherboard out. It is dark brown all around the dc jack and there are melted parts that dripped down.
Can anyone tell me what should be my next step? Can I fix this? Or is it not possible?

The main screen with 'emachines' name comes up and that is it. stuck there.. cant get out of that . and computer does still have power on.. only way to get back into my computer is to connect this travel drive (512mb) into my usb port , that is the only way i can use my computer now.. other wise it will come up but then will go to ' sleep mode' do you know why and how to fix? thanks hope this even makes sense to someone.. ; )

Answer:HELP emachines ?

Try reviewing the manual for the system as far as settings in the bios for power to make sure that is set for user defined there. Most likely you have to go into the power options and set everything to never like display, hard drives by default are set to 20min. and hibernation is eveidently enabled. The two ways to get at those settings are through the control panel or right clicking on the desktop.

For the fast and easy simply right click on the desktop and click on properties to bring up a new screen there. Select the screen saver tab and then to the bottom half of that screen for the power options button. The next screen will bring up the power settings. Set these all to never there and that should prevent this.

My son in law has some computer knowledge and checked the power cord and the power supply both which are not the problem. He said he does a burn spot on the motherboard. Question: Emachines with XP

Emachines T2642 desktop
256MB Ram
40GB Hard drive

I bought the computer about 5 or 6 years ago for my children and its got pretty slow over time. I am not sure if I should upgrade the memory/ and or hard drive to speed it up, or use something they call Register Cleaner. I have no knowledge of the register cleaner or how to use it but read a little about it. I heard that I can transfer all my kids data to a External Hard drive to free up room, if thats true can someone explain to me how to do that? I need some oppinions here please.

Thanks,

Mike

Answer:Emachines with XP

Well, you could try defragmenting your hard drive. Hard drive fragmentation occurs over time from deleting and adding files. To defragment your hard drive(this is for Windows XP, I forgot if it's any different on 98/ME), open my computer, right click the drive, click Properties, click the Tools tab, then click the "Defragment now" button. Note that it could take some hours, but when it's done your files will be arranged to make reading and writing faster.

As for transferring your kids files to an external hard drive, the process is pretty much the same as moving them from folder to folder. You attach the drive, and so long as there are no problems with Windows detecting the drive, you can go to my computer, open the hard drive like a folder, and drag the files you want to save onto the drive, and they should be copied.

Question: Emachines

Hellooooooooooooooooo!

A few years ago I purchased the Emachine 'Emonster'. It was "made" for gaming. It was 600mhz I think came with 64mb of ram. The computer was good for a few months - then it was all downhill from there. I had problem with just about everything. Finally 2 years later I took it out "Office Space" style .

Now - While the computer was running horribly looked up reviews and I heard many people have problems with emachines. Why do so many people have trouble with these computers? They have a good price. The specs look ok. My friend once told me the hardware just doesn't work well together. I just don't understand it. Although I will never buy a emachine again, could someone tell me why the computer seem to fail alot?

Question: Emachines Help

Hi.

I've had this Emachines T2200 running Windows XP for a long time, without really any errors besides a cooling fan, and CD drive dying on me. The problem that I noticed today with it is that whenever I try to use the Emachines Restore to Factory Settings CDs the computer will go into a blank screen, and won't turn up to recovery mode. And when I try to reconfigure the settings of the BIOs to see the boot sequence to make sure the CD runs first, that doesn't even load! Whenever I try to press F8 or F6 a beep is heard and that's it. After that, Windows will load up.

If anyone can spare some time on this could you help?

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Emachines Help

BIOS is uaually accessed by pressing F2 . . DEL or ESC . . . F8 gets you to safe mode . . For help entering BIOS: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/bios_manufacturer.htm

Question: emachines

Hi, I have my sisters pc here, trying to fix it for her, it is an emachine T4160, she has had it for a couple yrs now, anyway, I have reformatted her harddrive for her, but when I try to use the restore cd, when it is complete and reboots, I get this error:
technical information:
STOP
0XF9677640,0XC0000034,0X00000000,0X00000000
I even went as far as to load windows 98 in it, and everything loads, but it came with xp home edition, and I want to put it back in for her, but I don't have xp home, I have xp pro, anyway, I can't find any help from www.emachines.com, what to do?

Answer:emachines

There should be more to the STOP error. Does it not reference a module? Can you boot to safe mode? Because by owning that computer/restore CD, you own a license to XP Home, you can install from a normal XP home CD (copied from a friend for example).

Answer:emachines

It depends on your Motherboard, you either have an IDE or SATA connection, it doesn't matter that it is an eMachine. This post belongs in hardware.

Post your system info, click Start/Run and type dxdiag

After it scans your system save the information to your desktop and then attach it to your post (use Advanced)

Question: emachines!!

i have an emachines T6528 and a T2040. I've tried to download several linux os's and never can open them!  when one of them start downloading a windows icon is shown and after the download is done it won't open!! says something like "windows can't open this program". well, i bought a toshiba laptop and went to the download ubuntu 6.0 website and it's downloading an ISO file which is what it HAS TO BE! why wont emachines download ISO's???

Answer:emachines!!

Do you know for a fact that your download attempts stopped before the file was completely downloaded?  I don't think that's what you're saying, is it?  I believe you do not understand what to do with the ISO file once you've downloaded it.  You have to burn it to a CD.  This creates a bootable CD.

Answer:win xp emachines 360

If you have the recovery/restore disk set just run that and do a full restore, if you do not have this disk set then either order them from eMachines or try to find them via the internet possibly thru eBay or the such or purchase a Microsoft Windows install disk of the type of windows that you prefer like windows xp home and then do a clean install with formatting the hard drive and you should be all set.

I have a eMachines T3256. My house's power went off, then came back on the other day. Now, when I turn on the computer, the hard drive light comes on and stays on, the cooling fans work and that's all. The power switch on the front won't even turn it off. I have to unplug it. There is no POST beep or any indication that anything is happening. I've unplugged all cords from back, left the CMOS battery out for several hours, reseated the memory, removed the modem, still nothing. I don't have another CPU to stick in it.
I tried a new power supply, same result. I don't have a large budget. Any ideas what to try next?

I have a problem, I have an emachine T5026 I bought new in 2005, I've replaced the power supply twice since then but it was worked very well for me cruising the spider web listening to music and watching movies. Last fall it started locking up and it became more and more frequent over the course of a month or two until I could barely boot windows before it would lock. At this point I believe I executed an unsuccessfull or incomplete system restore, and the computer has collected dust for the last six months...
Earlier this week I bought an emachine t6520 for a few bucks on craigslist, the young man said he didn't know what was wrong with it. I thought I could use it to resurrect one of the two pcs. I pry it open and it's missing the hard drive, so I take my old sata hdd out and pop it in the new pc. (I think I read that the original hdd in this computer was IDE just fyi). I press the power button and the power supply lights up and lets the smoke out of it. Maybe it had already been smoked. So I put my old psupply in the new pc, it fires up but will not boot in normal mode. I am now online but I am in safe mode. Windows will not boot in normal mode and it will not boot to a last known safe point. I tried to restore to an earlier date but there are no resore points whatsoever to choose from. As well, the os doesn't recognise the sm bus controller, video audio and simple communications controllers. I downloaded a chipset for this motherboard but... Read more

Question: emachines!

Here's one for the books [I think!]. I've installed a new hd in a late model emachine [Emachine was the first mistake]. I cannot get the system to recognize the floppy drive. It will boot from the CD-ROM. When I attempt to use either the Millenium Restore CD or a Win 98SE CD, the system will boot, attempt to install the CD-ROM drivers and report "no drives found" and abort. [The BIOS recognizes both the hd and the rom]. When I type DIR at the a: prompt the CD is read instead of the floppy. In all applications it seems the ROM is being identified as the floppy, or "a" drive. If I remove the CD-ROM the system will still not identify the floppy drive. Any ideas out there will be appreciated.

Question: EMachines

Greetings All!!!!

My poor old pc is finally on it's last leg and this fall I must purchase something new. I have heard that E machines might be what I should purchase instead of a desktop pc......but sadly I have no knowledge of how good Emachines are.......I did hear a couple of years back that they were awful! Their motherboards and such burned out easily and you couldn't be on the internet for long periods of time as that "wore" them out. But pricewise an Emachine is more what I can afford. Here's what it is used for: I live in a small religious community and we use it for research on the net, lots and lots of writing, downloading music and making cd's (various church music only), e-mail, a small amount of pics, and some office use. We do not use it for any games or such......mostly our needs are for office type work. So I am a bit confused as to whether we need a desktop pc or will a E machine meet our needs. Any guidance from ya'll would be most appreciated! Oh yeah...we do have 500 dollars saved towards whatever our purchase will be!
Thank you all inadvance for your help!!!!!
Br. Peter, OSB

Answer:EMachines

I swore the last eMachine that died at my work would be the last ever. It wasn't so much the electronic components as the proprietary, too small power supplies that wore out after all-too-short a period of time. And expensive to replace-- if you could find replacements. I found it cheaper to transplant them to new cases to wring out the last bit of useability.

If I were to recommend a good place to spend your money, I would have to point you to Dell's Outlet division. Refurbished units that are indistinguishable from-- and warranted as-- new. They often have additional discounts at month's end, and, if you wait for free shipping to enter the mix, you can get quite a bargain on a much higher quality machine. $500 might well get you an entry level Dell and a monitor, too.

Hello all,

Has anyone on this forum had any luck on getting a OS CD from eMachines? I had to replace a HDD and they, eMachines, have been giving me the runaround on getting the OS. They keep sending a canned answer about using the Restore Disk, witch we all know that will not work on a blank HDD. So my question is, Is there any way of getting a disk from eMachines.

Answer:Getting a OS CD from eMachines

Hi -

The restore disks should install on a new HDD.

eMachines nor any other OEM will provide you with a full retail copy of Vista unless system purchased with such.

Have you tried the recovery DVDs? I had similar situation with my HP system and used KillDisk to format the HDD, then used HP OEM recovery Vista x64 DVDs to re-install. All worked out just fine.

KillDisk - http://www.killdisk.com/downloadfree.htm

Make bootable KillDisk ISO CD w/ ImgBurn -
ImgBurn - http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download

After Vista installation - be sure to validate OS at WGA site.

Hi all.

I'm new to the forum so I do apologise if I've posted this in the wrong section.

Basically, I recently purchased an eMachines 420 desktop computer from eBay for my nephew. It came with no operating system or any CDs so I put my own copy of Windows XP Home Edition on it. However, I looked all over the internet for drivers and I even spoke to eMachines customer service but they said it is too old so they havn't kept any drivers for it on their website.

So I downloaded Everest Home Edition and produced a report. It would be great if you guys could have a look at it and perhaps point me to the right drivers.

Link to report: files.me.com/yani2k8/x0wkj8

Thanks in advance!

Sorry, but if eMachines cannot provide them it is very unlikely that anywhere else will have safe drivers.

Dells systems always come with monitors(their just basic but they're free) and i have heard that emachines quality has improved alot. But Dell has excellent support.

Hello, I'm sorry if this gets posted twice, I had a problem posting the original thread. I bought an e-machine T5230 and did not like vista so I wiped the hard drive and installed XP SP2. I am having problems installing the nvidia drivers for the network controller and onboard audio. I downloaded quite a few drivers from various sources(nvidia's site included) and have had no luck getting them to work. If I run hardware wizard it recognizes the devices but when I install the drivers it will install but give me error code 39. It says the drivers might be corrupt or damaged. Here are the specs for the system

CPU: AMD Athlon? 64 X2 dual-core processor 4400+
64-bit processor with AMD64 Technology
(2.3GHz | 2 x 512MB L2 Cache | 2000MHz System Bus)

Chipset: NVIDIA? GeForce? 6150SE chipset

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. And, just a note I know the hardware works because it was functioning properly before I wiped the drive.

Question: eMachines T3065

I just want to know if the eMachines desktop computer model T3065 has a wireless card already in it.(This machine was bought in 2001)

Answer:eMachines T3065

Hi

Its very unlikely, but what you can do is look in Device Manager and in Network adapters should be a listing for a Wireless device.

Quite rare for a desktop to come as standard with a Wireless card and i did check the standard build specs on this and only ethernet (wired connection) is listed, and given the age, even more so but check the above or you can follow the below and we can check for you.

Download and install Everest to find this info, at times a summary log of your PC can help, to do this

Install Everest and run
Click Report (top menu) > Report Wizard > Next
Choose System Summary Only > Next

Answer:need xp drivers 4 emachines

You probably need to install chipset drivers. That particular PC was designed for and marketed with Vista, so it's not surprising that you're having issues. Use this link and scroll down until you get to the chipset INF drivers. If they don't fix the problem, then there's a good chance that your onboard USB is either disabled or faulty. Let us know how it goes!

(btw- media readers plug into the onboard USB header which explains why it's not working too)

Answer:please help emachines w5243

:wave Welcome to Major Geeks! :major

The BOOTMGR is left over from the Vista installation. You need to perform a low-level wipe of the PC, completely erasing the boot sector, partition table, etc. If there is a 2nd 'recovery' partition, you can probably access it to reload Vista. However, if you want XP, you'll need an XP installation CD with a valid, legal Product Key. There are numerous tools that you can use to completely wipe the drive, including the software from Western Digital. They have a bootable CD you can download (from this link), and when you boot to it, it will guide you through formatting/cleaning the drive. You can also use one of these free programs to accomplish more-or-less the same thing:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/BootIt_Next_Generation_d646.html
http://www.majorgeeks.com/CPM_Cute_Partition_Manager_d5369.html
http://www.majorgeeks.com/Dariks_Boot_and_Nuke_d4596.html
http://www.majorgeeks.com/Partition_Logic_d4780.html
I'm sure that other MG members have suggestions too. Anyway, once the drive is wiped and/or formatted, you can follow the steps in this guide to install WinXP from the CD. To save time, you can try following the steps in that guide first, and then if that doesn't work (it should), then you can try the other programs.... good luck!

If you have the restore disc that came with the PC for restoring Vista, you can use that too after using one the 'wiping' methods previously listed. I think it's not working... Read more

Hi,
I bought an emachines computer with windows xp preinstalled. The machine is only about 5 years old. The hard drive is occasionaly making a whiring noise. I guess that it is going to go bad. I am going to buy a second hard drive and install that to back up my personal files. I would like to buy another HD to just run XP on. My machine did not come with a restore CD. Is there anything that I can do?
Thanks,
Mike

Answer:Emachines Preinstalled Xp Os

You could try contacting emachines for a set of disks. Normally they should only charge you the postage.

So, it's been quite awhile since I posted here, and I am having an issue identifying the eMachines PC I am currently using.

The story is kinda of long, so feel free to skip past this if you feel its unimportant, although it may contain some identifying markers. Around 2006 I had a PC die on me, and I bought a used eMachines PC from a friend really cheap. Right now it's having various issues and I am planning to reformat and reinstall windows.

The problem with this is I didn't get anything from my friend besides the tower, and it wasn't in the best of shape. Any identifying marks are gone. All I've got to go on is what is inside the PC to identify it, but I am having trouble with that, as well.

I need to identify this PC model so that I can find correct drivers for the motherboard and its components, so that I can do a good reinstall of Windows.

I have EVEREST, and thats helped me generate a small report, which I will include as a text file. Any help would be appreciated.

I feel its good to mention the video inside of this isn't what came with it. It's running a AGP card I installed myself awhile back. This isn't meant to be an awesome computer, I have one of those, this one is for web surfing and the like. Even though its not that important, I would still like to have proper drivers for it to work right.

I also tried finding info on the motherboard, but I couldn't even find it listed on the manufacturers website.... Read more

Answer:Help identifying my eMachines PC

I'm not sure if MSI allows direct links but this looks like your board from what I see in the Everest report. The driver link is in a bar towards the top of the page.

If the above link doesn't last you get there from MSI>Downloads>Paste MS-7060 in the Search box.

****
I would avoid any BIOS updates unless you are having a severe problem. I don't think eMachines does anything to change the manufacturer's BIOS but I don't know for sure. So I would only update BIOS if you can find a support page from e Machines.

My Wife Got A Message On Her Emachines Computer To Download An Update & She Clicked On It. After The Progress Bar Got To 5 Increments, It Just Hung There. Ctrl+alt+del Didn't Work. Got It To Shut Down By Holding In The Power Button. While Rebooting, We Got:
Boot From Cd :
Press F11 To Start Recovery
A Disk Read Error Occured
Press Ctrl+alt+del To Restart
It Restarted The Computer & Gave Us The Same Message. During The Next Attempt, I Pressed F11 & Tried To Make It Boot From The Hard Drive, Appearently It Won't. Somewhere Along The Line I Got The Message: "file\minint\system32\biosinfo.inf Could Not Be Loaded. The Error Is 295. Setup Cannot Continue. Press Any Key To Exit." After Exiting, It Just Reboots Into The Same Loop. My Uncle Suggested We Got A Trojan Horse. If I Could Find A Way To Make The Computer Boot From The Hard Drive - That Might Cure The Problem (or At Least Let Me Access The Anti-virus Program). Does Anyone Have Any Suggestions On How To Fix This Problem?

Answer:Emachines Error 295`

Download And Update from whom? Was it Windows Update?

If the msg was NOT from Windows Update, she may have been hit by a virus or other Malware.

IF it was Windows Update; before download and install, did she exit ALL applications she was running. You should NOT install Windows Updates with applications running, they MAY interfere with the installation. That is why the Notify only... option in Automatic Updates is safest, and from what you describe that is what she has set.

Before doing anything else, try:Boot to your WinXP Setup CD
At the window with a Repair option on the bottom Statusbar, use that to open the Recovery Console
At the Recovery Console Command Prompt, enter CHKDSK C: /R
Let CHKDSK run, reboot to your HD

My neighbor has an eMachine and we can't get the darn thing to start up. I press the little power button and it won't cut on. I have looked around outside and in the computer and everything is plugged in correctly. I'm not sure what to do.

What are the possibilites?

It has a 1.0Ghz Celeron (PIII typle) and 128MB of PC100 RAM.

What should I do before she takes it to some repair shop? (never encountered this before...)

Thanks!

Answer:eMachines Won't Start

there are a wide range of possibilties. first if nothing at all happens when you press the power button. (no lights no sounds etc.) then the most obvious culprit would be a dead power supply. e machines are not noted for quality power supplies to begin with.

has the owner of the machine recently added or removed any hardware from it?

Question: emachines Bigfix

Hello, a couple days ago mom's emachines computer crashed and I had to use the restore cd, which means we lost everything. We purchased this computer in December of 2002. Anyway after restoring to original, the bigfix option keeps inundating me with upgrades and patches to install, many of which are now two or three years old. Trouble is that most require restarting the computer after installation, and this is getting to be ridicuously time consuming. Does anyone know if I can just skip these updates (or most of them), or do I have to take them one at a time...install and restart...install and restart...etc. Also, while all this is going on MS keeps wanting me to subscribe to automatic updates which I'm not sure about either (confusing to have more than a single fixer trying to update mom's computer and again I'm at a loss as to know what to do). I'm not even sure I'm in the right forum for my questions, please forgive if I'm in the wrong place, I'm a rookie ;-) By the way, we have an emachines T1742, 1.7 celeron..with XP and MS explorer browser, in case this information might help. I sure hope someone can offer some advice, tks...RayG

Answer:emachines Bigfix

What do you mean by the "Bigfix"?
I've never heard of that before.

You can just tell Automatic updates to clam up: It's useless if you regularly check Windows Update (IMHO).
Same goes for the "Security Center" icon that pesters you from the system tray becasue you've turned off (gasp) Automatic Updates.

Start>Settings>Control Panel>Automatic Updates>Tick beside "Turn Off Automatic Updates" and Click "Apply" and then "OK"

Start>Settings>Control Panel>Security Center. In the "Resources" pane on the left-hand side of the window (Your left, not the monitor's left), click "Change the way Security Center alerts me">Un-check all three boxes that you see there>Click OK>Close the Security Center window.

Be aware that if you do this, you'll have to actualy check the windows update site from time to time if you want the latest updates. (From MSIE, Click Tools>Windows Update. Otherwise, Type www.windowsupdate.com into the adress bar in MSIE.) Also be aware that you just freed up a bunch of system resourses becasue you've stopped these semi-useless processes from periodicly wasting othewise usefull CPU cycles and physical memory.

Happy surfing.

I bought an emachines computer a while back (bad idea lol). When I bought it, it already had windows 7 installed onto it. I got no pre packaged windows 7 key and disc or anything like that.

Anyways, now I am now looking to build my own PC. I was wondering if it is possible to switch windows 7 from my emachines onto a new pc? What I really am asking is when you buy an emachines with windows 7 already installed on it, is it like you own your own copy of windows 7 that you can put on other computers, or is it a locked version that can only be used on this one specific hard drive?

Thanks for your help.

Answer:Windows 7 and Emachines

It can only be used with the PC it came with

Right now, I'm not on the eMachines so I can't post the TSG SysInfo.

I have an eMachines 730 computer without the recovery discs (I lost them), I'm prepared to do a full reinstall of XP Home Edition (the disc contains SP2) which I have and is genuine. My only concern is I don't think XP has the drivers integrated into setup and I spoke to eMachines about finding the drivers however they said that the computer came out in 2001 and is discontinued! It is for that reason that I turn to you!
