Solved: Force load of web page vs. load from cache?

Question: Solved: Force load of web page vs. load from cache?

I have a very simple web page that automatically updates daily. However, very often when I view it I just get the version that is in my browser cache rather than the latest version from the web. I have to do a manual refresh from the browser to see the latest version. Not a problem for me, but other viewers of the page may not realize they aren't seeing the latest information.

Is there an HTML tag or some such that can be included in the page that will force a refresh and override any old version that the viewer may still have in their browser cache?

Preferred Solution: Solved: Force load of web page vs. load from cache?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

new to this and not to good on the technical jargon..

basically i used to be able to load websites up then they stopped loading now and again and now they dont load at all.\
for eg: ebay i can go to the website search it all but click on the sign in and it just wont load.
there are other web pages which just wont load at all and just get the load thing and a blank screen.. and then time out.

ive done the AVG thing, spybot search and destroy, spyblaster.. and reset my router but stil nothing!!!

using windows xp and IE8

Greetings gurus. Internet trouble. As the title says, my mail will not load in any browser. Page load is very slow and most things time out at least once. AT&T ran line tests on DSL and everything was clean. Not sure how this could be. Speedtest was run many times and no probs. I even did some gaming which strains everything with no problems. I'm open to the possibility of a virus. Ran Avira and MBAM but haven't gone further. Strangely the wife's Facebook games are a no-go. Also, wireless devices work fine. Heeeeelp!

Presario v3000 laptop, winxp sp3.

Everything was working fine this morning. Visited all the sites I normally do. I always visit some of the same sites in the evening. This evening I connected, opened FF and my home page would not load, nor would any other page. Tried IE, same. I haven't changed anything since this morning, so I'm at an absolute loss as to what could have happened.

While researching on the web with no solution, I discovered there are no ports listed in Device Manager, but apparently they do exist because it tells me it is connected.

I am presently using my old desktop comp on the same internet connection, so that is not the problem. All I did on my laptop since this morning is play onboard games and read an article or two I had pasted into Word Pad.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give.

I just downloaded Mozilla Firefox 1.0.6 and I can't get any pages to load PERIOD!

Everything worked fine before I made the upgrade - and I even tried IE, and everything seemed to be working there, so the problem has to be with Firefox.

I'm getting really pissed off. Everytime I install an update with Firefox, I encounter some weird problem.

I even tried uninstalling this and then installing it directly from the homepage, and still the same problem. I can't get any page to load.

Howdy Ya'll Being on dialup, I've done all I can to make using the internet as efficient as possible. I use Firefox browser and have installed the AdBlock Plus add on. That works really well, BTW. Additionally, I've installed a 3rd party addon called Preloader from Sourceforge. Once a page is loaded, revisiting that page is real snappy.

What this post is all about is every time I reboot my machine, the first time I visit any site its like I've never been there before. Typical dialup.. Slow step by step loading of even the smallest graphic. Just wonder if there is some setting in FF I've missed that might help this.

Checked cookies in my Firefox profile and there are a ton of them in there.

Thanks... Raybro

Answer:Solved: Firefox page load time

Your "ISP" could be the culprit to slow browsing. I tried several and have settled on "" [] with great satisfaction. I use SeaMonkey as my browser, and it allows use of a proxy, which TOAST accommodates. It makes all the difference in the world! Further, TOAST provides a multi-setting accelerator that really does work. I use "maximum" for sites where graphics display is not important and "very good" when I am downloading pictures, which I do every day.

p.s. No broadband available where I am.

While my Windows XP desktop was sitting idle, it developed a bug in IE 6. Any attempt to use it resulted in the "page cannot be displayed" message after it searched for site I noticed my home page had been reset to the Microsoft one. Normally it is, so I set it back to that and still got the same result. However, it does work if set to about:blank, and if I enter the address in google, it opens up as it normally should. 2) Changed DNS names to open DNS
3) Run a full scan with McAfee

My internet has begun to slow down lately. Page loads and transitions have been taking 10-15 seconds at times when they are usually "instant". I can't figure out why; I haven't really been doing much lately except browsing yahoo and youtube and normal stuff. I haven't installed any big programs or anything that would slow my entire computer down. I've also noticed increased lag in Counter-Strike. My brother has had more unsupervised time lately, when I'm not home, so I don't know where he goes or what he does. Although, I've run virus scans and stuff and they've been relatively clean, but for all I know it could be something more complicated than a little bit of malware. I'm confused as to what might be the problem. Any help would be great. If you need info on my computer or network let me know.

Answer:Solved: Slow connection/page load problems

Well, I'd certainly be doing some complete virus/malware scans. Try an on-line virus scanner like Trend Housecall and also maybe Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.

Here is the problem. We have everything locked down on our network, with approved web sites on the whitelist. At one of our locations, a particular pc takes 5-10 minutes to load onlyone particular web page. All other approved websites/pages load fine. The other pc's near his load it almost immediately. It's actually a link he clicks, which opens this page in another window. The only other problem I noticed was a Java error. The guy said he updated java a couple weeks ago and ever since then, he gets this error msg when he logs on saying something like "server not found". All pc's are running windows xp professional and IE6.

Any help/suggestions are much appreciated!

Answer:Solved: One page take long time to load...tough one

clear cache/cookies/history and try again. Also try manually loading the page, instead of from the bookmark.

If this fails, try uninstalling the Java the user installed, and see if the problem goes away. If it does, reprimand the user. ;-)

Answer:Solved: Browsers will not load microsoft website but will load FB, Google etc etc

Either it's a problem server side for them, which would be an issue with your IP,
or a process/service altered some of your core system settings on your end which blocks the microsoft website for some reason....., you can try a different IP address just to make sure it's not server side for them, and then if that doesn't work I am not sure what to tell you other than reinstalling all browsers, and eventually refromatting if reinstalling browsers does not work.

IF it is an IP issue it could be something with your network, if a network admin blocked the microsoft website, or even theoretically your ISP if there was a strange issue with them, however that would be rare.

I run both IE 8 and Firefox on my Dell Dimension system. I'm having problems now with both browsers taking forever to load. This may be a virus or network problem. IE 8 just loaded now after 15 minutes (exactly - I timed it).

- Once it's loaded once, both browsers load in normal amounts of time.
- I haven't downloaded any new add-ons lately unless one browser or the other installed one in the background.
- The problem just started today after a reboot.
- I've also noticed that my network icon in the taskbar doesn't show up anymore when I first boot but by the time IE opens, it has showed up.
- Using ipconfig, I did determine that I am on the network and connected immediately after boot up (router also shows me connected immediately).
- I've tried running IE from the command line with iexplore.exe -extoff. It didn't make any difference. I don't know if this works with IE 8 though.
- When I click to open either web browser, the process shows up right away in Task Manager and remains.
- I have all the latest updates to both browsers that I know of.
- I've run a complete system scan with McAfee (fully updated as of today.)

Now I've run out of ideas on what to try. I appreciate any help!

ok this is gonna be a bit long but i want the details there. the issue pc is my old pc. it has windows 7 its an asus msn-la motherboard i cloned this drive and used it in my new pc. after a few months my new pc's drive died and i took the old drive from the issue pc(witch was not giving issues at this time) and stuck it into my new pc until my replacement drive came. when i got the replacement drive i cloned the drive again onto the replacement drive and then put the new drive in the new pc had no issues there. put the old drive back into the issue pc (this is when issues started) the pc booted up to the windows desktop loading screen fast but once it got there it sat there for like 5 min before loading into windows. once it loaded into windows it was un usable for around 10 min while it loaded background stuff. once it finally loads into windows if i try to open anything its still responding extremely slow. is there anything i could do to fix this or is this going to me a re install only situation? i did try to use a windows 7 disk to do a startup repair but it claimed i couldn't do it because i dident install from that disk.

I have a Western Digital 1tb drive that has been sitting here basically dead for years now. The drive works perfectly fine when plugged into an XP machine, but not on my Win7 x64 machine. I am aware this is a known Win7 issue. But, when we had a bad storm, and a power-failure because of it, when I booted my computer back up, after restarting from safe mode, it suddenly recognized the drive. Great! Next time I rebooted, gone! Fast forward a while later, another storm, another power failure, another magical reappearance of the drive! This time I happened to notice in the sys tray windows said it was loading the driver. Interesting (may had said that the first time too, and I just didn't see it). Regular reboot later, drive again gone. . .

so, my question is, how do I manually load a driver?

Nowadays a lot of web pages started using a stupid trick that they only start loading when you actually focus on the page.

It makes me MAD. I usually open pages in new tabs for them to load, and I switch to them later. But they only start loading when I switch to them.

How can I force it to start loading pages immediately? So when I actually switch to that tab the page would be fully loaded instead of having to wait for it.
On a side not pages that only load partially and you have to scroll down to the bottom for it to start loading more of it also make me extremely mad.

It steals time off my hand, time I could use otherwise.

Answer:Force load web pages

Which browser are you using? I know on FF there's a setting you can change. "Don't load tabs until selected". Make sure this is unchecked.

Problem solved. FYI to those who have similar problems. Reset your router to factory settings, change password and when you log on with the added computer close all windows that pop up unless its the window that asks for key(password) go to the routers home page and it will walk you through the steeps. No disk needed. Thank you John and others that tried to help!

Windows 7, 64 Dell XPS 8000 system. All browsers (Firefox, IE7, Opera) exhibit same behavior, which is when starting from the home page and browse to another page or tab, the page will stay open for a few seconds and then close and the browser displays the home page. Also, when trying to open Outlook 2007 from Outlook Today, I cannot open the inbox. The only way to do so is "open in new window". This is also true when trying to open folders. Soyo k7vme motherboard, AMD Athlon 2100+ processor, 768MB ram, XP home.  Hello again.  My computer is not loading the NIC driver at startup, only on restart.  When I start network adapter icons, no network adapter in device manager, no connection to the internet.  When I restart it's all good.  Every time.  I've tried bios update, network adapter update, bootvis, virus scans...the works.  Nothing is helping so far.  I got a bootlog of both the startup (no network adapter) and the restart (with network adapter) and did a line by line comparison of the two.  The only difference is that on the restart a driver was loaded that was not loaded on the initial startup.  fetnd5bv.sys.  Googled it and found that it is indeed a network driver, but even with the latest (I've tried previous also) version it still will not load on the first startup.  Is there some way I can force this driver to load every time?  Modify system.ini or boot.ini?  I've been dealing with this for some time now and it's starting to drive me nuts.  All help is appreciated!

Load from Cache is an extension, which let you to force load resources from the cache and it uses less bandwidth, and it gives more speed to the web and privacy during the browsing.

Official description:
This addon is very small and has one simple thing it does.

It modifies all requests so that they will always load from cache even on reload , revalidate headers or new browser session ,
no calls to the internet is made IF the ressource is in the cache already.

it effectively replaces all 304 requests to 200 cached requests.

new ressources/websites are still loaded from the web :)

This has 3 advantages:
- less bandwidth used

- almost no CDN-tracking anymore, google &co saves its scripts till 2034 in your cache but always revalidastes which makes no sense since the librarys don´t change. when enabled jquery & co will just be read from the cache

- faster pageloads (gain depends on the website )

you have 3 states of the addon which are super easy and quick to switch :)
Click the Addon Button

Turn on forced cache loading for everything BUT html, xhtml, aspx and xml (this ensures that websites are updated for 99% of the web at least)

PowerMode ... load everything from cache!
very fast, but forums, live updating sites have might have problems updating their content.

**post is kind of long but the main question is at the very end if you want to skip down**

I have Windows Vista Home Premium.

Resolution is set to 1280x1024 and color is set to 32 bit. Not sure if that matters or not, but here is the problem/annoyance...

Whenever I play a particular game, an older game, Starcraft, the display/color settings are changed for it. Because of this, I think, the icons in the notification tray are changed/look different. Whenever I exit the game, and the settings are changed back, the notification tray icons(or some of them) display the same as they did when the settings were changed for the game, they look pixelated and have fewer colors.

Some of them reload/redisplay/change back, and some of them don't. Changing the taskbar property to auto-hide and allowing it to "dip down and come back up" will make some of them display correctly, and moving my cursor over some of them also seems to have made them "reload", but one has remained pixelated and with fewer colors and hasn't changed back.

Aside from restarting the computer, is there a way to get the notification tray icons to "reload" after the display settings are changed back when the game is closed?

Background Info:
I have album artwork displayed for every album/directory in my music directory (D:\Music) by using a folder.ico and a desktop.ini file. This method was used as a work-around to fix the deficiency in Windows Vista and 7 to no longer display front-facing album covers using the folder.jpg file. This work-around looks fantastic and actually looks better than XP because it's borderless. It also has the advantage of staying loaded into memory, which I have plenty of, until I restart the computer, unlike the use of folder.jpg, which has to be reloaded every time the directory is opened and scrolled.

However, when I first open my music folder, it has to load all the artwork and I have to manually scroll through the entire directory until all of the folder.ico files are read. I have a very large library and this takes some time. I can set D:\Music to open at startup, and it will read the folder.ico files for the visible albums/directories, but then I still have to manually scroll after that.

Is there any way to force Windows to load the folder.ico files for every folder in my D:\Music directory at startup, with no intervention from me?

Desired Result:
When I go to open or scroll through the music directory, all of my album artwork has already been pre-loaded into memory and thus it is a seamless flow of album artwork with no waiting.

Hi all. My school forces me to have antivirus, which I've managed to successfully go years without using, so I installed their corporate sophos protection, which they provide for free.

Now my computer has a 2-5 second hang at the logon screen where the screen becomes non-responsive. Is there a way to prevent it from loading before my logon and force it to load after logon? Like 2 minutes after logon? The only reason I have it is because it's required for any and all internet access.
I intentionally keep my laptop barebones and free of bloatware in the name of speed. This logon lag is exactly what I want to avoid.

Whilst attempting to remove a spyware/virus (the entire malwares/virus no longer seemed to be there but the malicious processes acpiz.dll and WINotify.dll would lurk in various system processes, I tried some program which was supposed to delete that malware but it just seemed to corrupt everything worse) I seem to have corrupted whatever program Windows uses to display that start bar. Windows loads 'normally' till it gets to the point when startbar should appear where it does nothing. alt-tab displays nothing either. Only way I can run anything is by booting in 'Safe Mode with Command Prompt'. From cmd.exe auto-starting I can start explorer.exe and then other programs. However since it's in Safe Mode I can't start internet which is what I really want to actually be able to research my problems.

Only way I got internet now is that I tried restoring a System Restore Point (it didn't fix the start bar) but that loaded non-safe mode windows with a link to the Windows Help Center program, from which I could start IE and then browse to the hard disk. I can't really have this as the only way to access internet..

Okay, what I most want to know right now is how to make normal (non- Safe-mode) Windows boot up either explorer.exe or cmd.exe straight away before it tries to load the startbar. I'm probably due for a new computer anyway (it's kind of old) but I want to be able to use internet and access files in the meantime. I assume th... Read more

Answer:'Startbar' program doesn't load, how to force Windows to run cmd.exe/explorer.exe?

Try running SFC /Scannow from command line (you will need the XP CD) to reinstall the missing or corrupted Windows files.

Otherwise I suggest I would find a friend and get him to copy the XP CD for you to use (as long as you have your Product ID still, this is legal, you just need the files).
Alternatively, get hold of Vista or a Linux CD.

Hi there.
I recently had a trojan dnschanger on my laptop. I tried using malwarebytes program to remove it several times and then gave up and sent it in to get repaired at a shop in town. They told me there was no infection and sent it back to me. I reran the test and sure enough it was gone. but...

What had originally made me try using malwarebytes to scan ( avg, spybot s&d, and adaware did not find anything) was that my browser was acting strange. When I do a Google search and click on one of the results, it will load a blank page saying 'done' in the bottom corner, then after 5 seconds or so it will then load the page i wanted.

For instance, I click on "hxxp://" search result and it puts this:

into the top bar and sits on the blank,'done' page for 5 or 10 secs then goes to the "hxxp://" page after.

It is driving me crazy. This is doing it in firefox 3.5.7 and also in ie 8.0.7600.16385 - (i rarely use ie)

When I right click My Computer on Vista Start menu the page says "The page failed to load"

I enclose a screenshot of the error.

I was also get "the application has failed to start because WINBRAND.dll was not found" when running

From RUN

This has now been fixed by downloading WINBRAND.dll and copying it to c:\windows\system32

But "The page failed to load" still happens when right clicking My Computer and choosing properties.

I did a SFC / Scannow and something weird happened. The Command Window had an error (apologies - forgot to note which but will rerun in a moment) however the CBS Log File showed no errors and indicated SFC ran successfully.

I will post the results of SFC in a few moments

I've been working with the hard drive forum after my older Gateway computer crashed, and they've helped me install the drive, re-load the software, add SpyBot, etc. but now I have a problem with IE 6.0, where I can't get to open so I can check my email. I've been able to get other sites to come up, however, when I type in the address and hit go nothing happens (other than the text highlights in blue). I checked under Privacy and cookie handling and was listed. I checked allow (didn't help), and then deleted it (still didn't help). I tried lowering security to low (didn't work). Is there something else I should do? When I went out to the Microsoft web site, I saw that there is a IE 6.0 sp1 available which I haven't downloaded yet, but I'm not sure that it will help, since I can get other web sites to open. Any assistance you can provide will be appreciated!

Answer:IE 6.0 won't load web page

Hi Cktrout5,
I am not a network guru, but I would download IE6 sp1 and see what happens. This should not have any ill effects on the OS and it will not only repair your IE6 (if thats the problem), but will give you better security and performance. I would also download all the Updates at the Microsoft Update site (if you have not done that already). What firewall and anti virus are you using? This may help the network guys out if they knew that.
Let us know how you make out.

Answer:cannot get a certain web page to load !!!

If cookies being disabled is the problem, you should be getting a blank page with some very small writing stating this from that website: "Welcome to the Partscenter Web site.
We have detected that cookies are disabled on your browser.
Please enable them and reload the page, or the site will not function correctly".

Anyway, to enable cookies, this is how:

From internet explorer: Tools > Internet Options. Within the Internet Options window: Privacy tab > Select a setting for the internet zone > set privacy level to Medium. Failing that, for test reasons, lower the slider right to the bottom to 'accept all cookies'.

Whether it works or not, please post results on here.

Does anything show in the task bar at all? Sometimes they get minimized and you have to right click on it and then click on maximize.

Other than that, my second thought would be viral. If you'd like to check out that aspect, then please do this. Click here: to download Hijack This.

It’s very important that you save it to its own folder on your hard drive, such as program files (not temporary files or the desktop), so that it can create proper back-ups and be able to restore them if necessary.

Close all open windows and open Hijack This. Click “Scan”. When the scan is finished (it only takes a second), the scan button will change to “Save Log”. Click on “Save Log” and then save it to NotePad. Click on “Edit” – “Select all” – “copy” and then “paste” into the thread.

DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET, most items that appear in the log are harmless or even needed.

Great forum!

I'm running XP Home, (but even my old 98SE had the same problem):

I cannot get any ABC web page to load! I don't know if it is a problem with the go domian or if it's my dialup/phone line or what, but every time I try and read a news story or any ABC, the page tries to load but I finally give up after waiting several minutes. I have had other sites that are 'slow' to load (about) but eventually they will.

It wouldn't be a big deal except there are times I need to look up programming, etc for my business and it's really annoying. My ISP guy had me do a ping (forgot how now) but it responded correctly and he's at a loss now as well.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Learn where menu and toolbar commands are in Office 2010 and related products - Support - Microsoft Office

She can't tell me any reason - like error messages - only that they won't display. (She's not very tech savvy)

I was assuming that it would not be security setting, being an MS page and all, but I don't know enough about this stuff.

Anyone else know?

Answer:IE 7 won't load page

IE8 comes automatically with Windows 7, unless she bought the OS recently in Europe, where this is forbidden by European Union. Nevertheless, I fail to see why she would use IE7...
If she really uses Win7, and really wants to use IE, point her towards BeautyOfTheWeb so she can download Ie9 RC.

Question: Cant load page..

Can load in safari no issues
Page gets found then doesnt load in Firefox
IE7 redirects to google search ""

Any network issues that cause this?????

Answer:Cant load page..

Sorry but i don't think this is a browser issue, it may be a setup issue, i'm running firefox and i can view the page fine...
I'm assuming with you it says "waiting for..." for ages?
What OS are you running and what is your ISP?

Also do you have anything installed that would modify your hosts-file? e.g. Spybot S&D
I don't know what would be causing this but post back and maybe we can sort it...

I have been trying to get to for a few days now, and can't get it to load. At first I figured maybe the site was down... didn't occur to me until today to ask others to see if it loaded for them, and it did just fine.

So. I checked my hosts file.. nothing there.
tried pinging via cmd, can't ping.
tried loading the site by IP, doesn't load.

Seems to just be me... what else could I do to resolve this?

I'm using IE6 and windows2k... also tried loading in the latest Opera and that didn't work.

Answer:certain web page will not load

I came across a website that has been giving me a lot of problems. I had to register for the site and I can login and get to the homepage, but I cannot click a single link without it hanging up. I cannot even reload the homepage after this happens. I have found that if I delete the cookies from that site, I can reload the login screen and sign back in, but it acts the same as before. I am using Firefox, and when I try it in IE, the homepage won't even load.

I went to the library at school and loaded the page fine, so it isn't the website. I was even using the U3 Firefox browser on my flash drive in the computer at school when it worked, and that same U3 browser won't work at home.

I am set up on a wireless connection through a Linksys router, and what I have read that may be a source of the problem. I have tried disabling the firewall on the router but that didn't work. This is the only website I have ever had trouble with so I really have no idea what to do.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Answer:Web page won't load...the only one

I did some further investigating and found that if I set my cookie option to "ask me every time" and accept all cookies when I log in except for the PHPSESSID cookie, and keep denying it, the site works fine.

Anyone have any ideas as to why that cookie doesn't sit well with my browser? This cookie is in the parent cookie folder for the site, so is there any way to block only that "sub-cookie"?

Question: Won't load a page.

In fact, it won't even recognize that there's material on the page to load. It's very strange. I need to log into a certain website for my housing application for university (it's a ".jsp"), and after I enter the information I just get a pure blank mozilla screen. Very strange. I tried with IE 7 and have the same problem. I tried fiddling around with the security levels on each but that did nothing.

I doubt there truly is nothing on the university website... what do you think the problem is?

Answer:Won't load a page.

Check all your security software, browser addons, firewall settings, etc to see which one is blocking javascripts, java or scripts (the wording might be different depending on the program).

For example, I use the NoScript addon for Firefox. With it enabled, all scripts are blocked so a .jsp site would appear blank. When I disable NoScript, the page loads as normal.

Answer:can't load web page

This issue may occur because of some "add ons" are any application which are running in background. However good news is that we can still resolve this issue. Please try doing the following steps which may help you1. Cloose all applications 2. Close / disable startup applications (such as skype, messenger, or any background application) 3. Start/Settings/Control Panel/Internet Options/Delete Browsing History/Delete All (in passwords) 4. Also delete files and settings stored by add-ons (check) and click ok 5. Close all windows, and files, (just in case) nothing has to be open 6. Go to Start/run 7. Type in the open: %temp% 8. Press enter 9. Start deleting the temp files 10. You might not be able to delete some of the files, because ther are in use. Leave them alone. 11. When you get the error: Error Deleting file or folder click ok and continue deleting some of the files by type 12. When you are done. Reboot the computer 13. Now try to open the websites that you were unable to openPlease do reply the result at your convinience.Thank you :)

Question: Page will not load

This is getting on my nerves. There's a site ( that I am unable to go to. I can't go to it nor any subsites under it. I can, however, go to When I first go to it (using favorites) it says "Action Cancelled". When I hit reload it says "The page cannot be displayed". I know the site is up, everyone else I know can go to it.

I'm using Avant Browser, I've tried turning off ad blocker and popup blocker. I've even added the site to the allow list. I've looked at the Host file it doesn't seem to be redirecting it to the localhost. I cannot for the life of me figure it out. I tried IE and it doesn't show up on there either. Please help. I've tried everything I can think of and I'm hoping someone out there can figure it out or think of something I haven't tried yet.

Answer:Page will not load

I'm having the same problem with Mozilla FireFox. I don't think the problem is with you or your machine. It may be busy.

I am looking at purchasing a PVR here in Oz and for post purchase support I need to access the companies web page

Each time I try to access it I have dramas and it wont fully load. It seems to hang with "25 items remaining - waiting for" or similar in the botton LHS tool bar.

It seems to be all the pictures on the page that wont download.

I'm running Windows XP SP2 and IE7.

I'm only on a 56k dial-up connection, could that be the problem? Could this site just be too much for dial-up to handle? Seems weird when every other site I go to works fine.

Is there some way for some guru to tell me why this site in particular is causing me dramas?

I've contacted their email support and they say they are having no problems with their website. Other users on broadband are having no worries either.

Maybe I have to get broadband for this site?

The site is

In talking with our network department, they said they've seen this as a random problem with certain people. The way they've gotten around it but don't know what's causing it, is to use mac proxy to change the system's MAC address.

Any ideas on the cause?

I can connect to net and use OE but my Internet Home Page won't load, nor will any other web page. The window comes up blank and when I try to X out of it, an error message comes up saying 'Window still in use. Closing it may cause problems'. Whether I click on yes or no, it refuses to go away. I end up having to restart. I am having to use my work internet connection to try and find a solution. Should I try and reinstall IE from Mesh recovery CD or is something else stopping it?

My Belkin wireless router's page ( won't load. I just get a blank page.
Please help.

Answer:Router page won't load

It could be 2 things. 1) the router has hung.
Try rebooting the router.
Open a command prompt and try to ping your router.

2) it could be something wrong with your browser.
If you are using IE, then try running IE without any add-ons. That shortcut can be found at All Programs > Accessories > System Tools
If that doesn't work, you can try to reset your IE to out-of-box condition. IE > Gear > Internet Options > Advanced > Reset button.
If that doesn't work, try another browser like FireFox or Chrome.

This could be a little off topic, but I have to ask this. I'm trying to look at videos on YouTube, but I could only hear the video and not see it. It cannot load properly. What is going on?

Answer:Unable to load page

You didn't say what browser you are using so these directions are a little more complicated than they might otherwise be. The Adobe Flash Player download page is specific to your browser, so...

Go here then, at the top of the page, click on "Downloads" then "Get Flash Player." The next page that opens will be the download page and will be specific to your browser which will be identified in the text below the "Download" button. Follow the Installation Instructions on that page.

Please let me know if this solves the problem.

Hi all. I'm running a p3 500 Mhz with 128 mb of ram, and a 10 gig enhanced IDE hdd. Recently, I've had to do a clean install of 98se, and all seemed to go smoothly. However, after downloading all the updates from windows update (including ie6 sp1), I have a minor, but confounding problem. When I launch ie6, it will not go to my home page, and clicking refresh does not work. I have to click the home button in order to get there. Also, I have a small stand-alone program called weatherbug, which launches on windows startup, automatically connects, and gives me the weather. Weatherbug still dials up but stops once a connection is made. Any ideas? Btw, i recently got a new modem, as my old one was fried. It is a u.s. robotics 28.8 external. Dont laugh, where I am 28.8 is fast. Thx all.

Answer:ie6 will not load home page...what gives?

Try winsock repair. It will recognize your version of Windows.

I have my notebook computer (xp pro) and my home computer (xp home) sharing a kvm switch. My web home page is a personal page. For some reason on the new home machine when I go to the excite home page it doesn't load photo's and icons. However the notebook does this fine. So I've totally disabled all of spyware blaster's protections. I've set internet security options to low. I've turned firewall off. And it still doesn't load correctly.
Any ideas?

Answer:Web page won't load correctly

By all means, don't set your security options to low... The problem you're having isn't related to your browser security settings. I assume you're using IE as your web browser. If so, open Internet Properties >> Advanced tab; scroll down to Multimedia to view the current settings and go from there...
