Question: Lenovo A850

My lenovo A850 cant switch off airplane mode. why?

Relevance 100%
Preferred Solution: Lenovo A850

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Lenovo A850

Question: Is there is a physical wireless switch? If it's set to Off, you won't be able to turn off Airplane mode.

So set the wireless switch to On and the option to turn off Airplane mode should be available. Does this work for you?

Question: Lenovo A850

I want to buy a Lenovo a850..but I want to know if lenovo smartphone got any problem??
is this model is good?

Answer:Lenovo A850

This is a good review to take a look at for your consideration:
http://www.igadgetnews.com/2013/08/26/lenovo-a850-quad-core-phone-review/

I don't know anyone who owns the or Lenovo phones in general so I can personally say much. However, reading the specs and online reviews, its a decent phone with some decent specs (Has a quad core processor inside) so it cant be too bad. A lot of reviewers say its a good phone, but I cant tell you from experience, hope this helps.

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

Hi everybody i hope you are all doing great. Laptop Details:Lenovo Y50-70 Laptop (Lenovo) 203784720hq512ssd960m16gb ram I made a clean install to my lenovo laptop so I lost some essential applications that came with my laptop. I installed almost all the drivers and apps at lenovo driver support download page without problems but i could not find some of lenovo apps that came in my laptop when i bought it and I really need them. The only one available in the driver download page were Lenovo energy manger. The most importants for me that i need are lenovo onekey recovery app and lenovo updates. For onekey recovery I only need the app, not the files to restore the whole partition, because the recovery partition is intact, I did not format it. So I only need the app that opens it. Th apps I want to get back are:1. Lenovo Onekey Recovery app - The one I am more interested in.2. "Lenovo Updates' (lenovo updates is the name of the app) The scond one im am more interested in.3. Lenovo Settings4. Lenovo companion If someone can guide me to where to download each of them, it would be great. I would need for windows 8.1 64 bit or windows 10. Thank You, I hope you can help me.

Answer:Where do I download Lenovo Y50 Onekey Recovery, Lenovo Settings. "Lenovo updates", Lenovo Companion?

Go to the Windows Store and do a search on "Lenovo."   You will find almost all the apps you need are available there.

Hi there, I envounter some problem on my lenovo thinkpad Yoga (model 20CD-A00TME), not sure when the laptop started having this issue but it must been recent as I have done some updates on some device drivers and even the BIOS was updated. After the routing checkup from Lenovo Solution Center, it was found that there are some system devices which are disabled. Here are all the few system devices which are disabled and cannot be enabled: 1) DDP UMDF Driver2) Lenovo Primary iM Controller3) Lenovo Settings4) Lenovo Settings Camera Audio5) Lenovo Settings Power Current my laptop has Lenovo Dependency Package version 1.6.25.00. Initially, I thought these system devices were affected by the recent software update which were done in the past week but I have completely reverted the updates by performing a system restore. Just for references, here are the software updates which were installed & uninstalled: - Lenovo Peer Connect SDK (Version 1.0.0.7)- Intel PROSet/Wireless Software- Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Software for Bluetooth(R) Technology- Lenovo Quick Control- On Screen Display Even after performing the system restore, the 5 system devices are still in disabled state. What can be done to fix this issue? Is it related with the recent BIOS update? Is there anyway to get newer drivers for these 5 system devices? Thank you for your help & support. Kind regards,Poon

Answer:Primary iM Controller, Lenovo Setting, Lenovo Setting Camera Audio, Lenovo Setting Power disabled

Hi again, Found from the device status of these 5 system devices are having the same properties. Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) How to fix the incomplete or damaged configuration info in registry? Thank you.

I am totally disappointed in Lenovo's customer support. My lenovo 710s was bought less than 1 year ago (as of 10/6/2017, when I sent it in for repairs) and had 2 years warranty (1+1 year of extended warranty). I sent my laptop for repair due to a white spot issue on the monitor, affecting viewing of webpages and videos. However, the laptop was returned after 3 weeks without any fixes/repairs, as Lenovo claimed that it was a cosmetic issue. I wrote a message on their customer care website on 3/7/2017. However, they ignored me and there was no reply to date.  I thought Lenovo is a reliable and popular brand. However, it turned out to be a horrible decision, much to my dismay!

I've discovered the DirectShare capability that came installed on my Y560 IdeaPad that came with Windows 7. This application perfectly suits my needs since I still do certain work on my J115 (3000 series) tower system that runs Windows XP. The DirectShare app gives directions on how to install DirectShare on the other system but it does not make it clear whether or not WinXP systems are supported.  Anyone know?  If not is there a comparable freeware app that does this?  Thanks.

Hi there, since about 1 week my Thinkpad is driving me bananas with 3-5 BSOD per day, all ending with STOP and erro code either 7 or 8. I have updated the Intel drivers so far and am running the latest recommended set of Lenovo drivers but my working tool still seems to be moody. My model is an 7675 CTO with 4 GB of RAM Any further advise anybody can give me ???

Answer:Lenovo X61 Vista Ultimate Blue Screen of Death since latest Lenovo Updater ran

I have EXACTLY the same problem.X61 7675-CTO with 4Gb RAM Vista UltimateI am getting 5-7 BSOD per day and it is driving me nuts.I have to save my work every minute or so - because my ThinkPad could crash at any moment.I have reinstalled the Intel Turbo Memory diver, the Intel video chipset driver.I have even done a complete clean reinstall to factory default and then reinstalled all updates and drivers from latest versions at Lenovo.com  (it's easy to write a sentence like that but it takes me hours to complete)I still get random BSODs - even when the PC has no apps running (but I have plenty of services running thanks to all the Windows and ThinkVantage stuff that is installed). The lenovo support folks have said that their basic support can't really help me any further and I need to pay for elevated support. This PC is less than 60 days old...I spoke to someone in paid support (don't know what lenovo call their paid support) and explained the problem and told them there is no way I am paying to get BSODs resolved on a factory-state new ThinkPad - he agreed it was unfair and sent me back to first line support who restarted with the same old "have you tried reinstalling drivers?"Um, yes.I cannot afford to spend endless hours reinstalling the system and drivers trying to troubleshoot this.I decided to downgrade to Windows XP Pro and so ordered the install media from Lenovo (USD50 approx). The XP Pro restore media arrived yesterday and I can boot up into the Rescue and Recov... Recently i bought a Lenovo y500 laptop with 12 ram and 16gigs of SSD. It came with Windows 8 by deffault and what i wanted was to install Linux Ubuntu 12.04 alognside with the Windows 8. It didn't work out, because i could only log into linux. When i tried to log in in Widonws it said: "unknown command drivemap      invalid EFI file path, so i used the one key recovery. It loaded Windows but i noticed 2 things:1st. After loading the Lenovo logo the screen turns black without the cursor on it and stays that way for about 17-25 sec. That means that from 20 sec boot time now it is 40+.How could i fix that one?2nd. After creating the backup i divided the 1tb disk into smaller discs and after the rocovery they were the way i left them with all the games and media on them. I thought that the one key recovery would undo the partiton i have made. The 2nd one isnt bugging me out so much but the 20 secs extra boot time do. The changes i have made in bios are disabling secure boot and switching boot mode from UEFI to legacy. After that i switched secure boot to enabled and the boot mode to UEFI as it was in the beginning.

Answer:Lenovo y500 black screen after the lenovo logo slows down boot time

hi psskobraa,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Regarding your questions:
1. The additional 17-25sec boot time is probably caused by the UEFI Firmware / UEFI boot loader (see this flowchart) - this probably got modified when you installed Ubuntu. Can you try to boot back into the BIOS, press F9 to load default settings then press F10 to save It settings. If this doesn't work, is the boot time the same when Disabling Secure Boot and UEFI set to Disabled/Legacy first?

2. OneKey Recovery usually reimage the OS partition only (i.e. C:\) and will not affect any other partitions (i.e. D:\)

Ok here's the problem, I have a Lenovo Thinkcentre M91p desktop which I was preparing to sell, first thing I wanted to do was to erase contents of hard drive first by using Derik's Drive Nuker disc however the problem started when the PC starts it doesn't show the "Lenovo" logo splash screen with the F-12 option to access BIOS, I needed to access bios so I can reboot with the dban disc to erase the hard drive when that option was not available I opened up "msconfig" and made the mistake of changing the system configuration from "Normal start up" to " Selective Startup" with only the " Use original boot configuration" option checked because I thought that would show me the splash screen on start up but, that wasn't the case.  After I did that and restarted the PC everything was horrible, not only wasn't I able to see the splash screen but, also Windows wouldn't even load.  On start up the PC doesn't show the Lenovo logo splash window, it goes straight to windows but it only shows the pre-screen that pops up before the log-in screen, the one with the background image and the time on the lower left but, that's it....if I click on that window instead of showing me the log-in window where I'm supposed to enter my password it only shows a blue screen.  Now I can't access BIOS to fix anything nor get into Windows.  I need help please! Any suggestions will be helpfu... Read more

Does the Lenovo Care Key also work, if the HD is completly empy (without any partition-information)? I want to reinstall Windows Vista after a downgrade to Windows XP, but allways it ends with an installation of Windows XP! My idea is now to delete all partitions and then try to reinstall Vista with the recovery-cd! Will this work? Thanks for your feedback! (Lenovo 3000 N500 4 GB / 250 GB)Message Edited by alfbm on 02-06-2009 02:03 PMMessage Edited by alfbm on 02-06-2009 03:08 PM

Kannst Du mir weiterhelfen? Oder noch nen Tipp geben? Gruss Roby

So everything has been working fine on my laptop until about 10:30PM EST tonight. I bought it new in August 2011.
Specs:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
CPU: Intel Core i7-2630QM @ 2.00 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
HD: 750 GB
BIOS: 45CN36WW

It's always been a fine machine with NO problems.
However, last night there were Windows 7 updates that were installed and then restarted my computer. I had not gotten a chance to check exactly what they were though. About 10:30 this evening, flash crashed in Mozilla Firefox which is not that uncommon, and from there Firefox closed, and so did my Microsoft Word and Excel apps that were open. From there, my computer began to shut down and restart. When it went to restart, all it could do was go to the opening Lenovo screen which gives you the F2 (setup option) and F12 (multiboot menu option) as it typically does. Besides a thin strip at the top that appeared after about 30 secs that only displays moving static that eventually will just stick, that is where the boot process ends. No Windows 7 screen, and certainly no opportunity to boot into safe mode to check for any problems. The screen freezes and goes nowhere.

So basically, all I'm getting in terms of boot options are lenovo features, not windows 7 features, meaning it won't boot into windows 7 or windows 7 safe mode no matter what I try. The biggest problem here is that I have no windows 7 disc to even try to boot from my dvd drive.

Anybody have any suggestions on what the probl... Read more

Are you able to get into the advanced boot menu by tapping F8? It might not be listed on the startup screen but it should still be there.

If not you can burn a repair disc from any PC with Windows 7. Theres steps from Microsoft Here.

I recieved my Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 11e a couple of days ago and it came with a lot of bloatware, or at least what I thought was. I started uninstalling a lot and everything seemed to work fine. I restarted it, but when it came back, I noticed the touch screen would not work. I went into the Device Manager and realized that one of my I2C drivers had the triangle with the exclamation was on one of them. After trial and error, I realized that disabling and re-enabling the driver would allow my touch screen to work. After a restart, however, I was back to square one. My wife bought her the same Lenovo Yoga and I have been compairing the two. I just noticed that I am missing the I2C controllers in the System Devices in the Device Manager as well. I have tried booting from an installation from hers and even copying the drivers and System32 folder to no avail. If anybody has any solutions, please help. I have tried everything I knew and everything I could find. Thanks in advance.

What happens when you install the i2c driver for your machine?  Before doing so please verify the machine type (20D9, 20DA) as there's another machine type option available.  Downloads found by using SUPPORT above and entering Yoga 11e.

Hey folks,

Got an M93 with Win 10. Lenovo solution center asks to do upgrades on BIOS and a bunch of drivers. Did that, and now I can't boot the computer.

Tried pressing F1 after pressing start button, no help. Can't enter BIOS, still stuck at lenovo screen. Also tried Ctrl+Alt+Del on that screen, blacks out then stuck at lenovo screen again.

Please help and inform, thanks!!!

Answer:ThinkCentre: Stuck at Lenovo splash screen after lenovo solution bios upgrade

I would try resetting the BIOS using the jumper, or by taking out the CMOS battery, wait a minute or two, and then replace it and try booting up. See page 73 of the Hardware Maintenance Manaul linked below for location of the Clear CMOS/Recovery jumper (# 20) https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/thinkcentre_pdf/m83m93p_hmm.pdf Clearing the CMOS (BIOS)1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the computer. Then, disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the computer. 2. Remove the computer cover. 3. Locate the Clear CMOS /Recovery jumper on the system board. 4. Move the jumper from the standard position (pin 1 and pin 2) to the maintenance position (pin 2 and pin 3). 5. Reinstall the computer cover and connect the power cord. 6. Turn on the computer and leave it on for approximately 10 seconds. Then, turn off the computer by holding the power switch for approximately five seconds. 7. Repeat step 1 through step 2. 8. Move the Clear CMOS /Recovery jumper back to the standard position (pin 1 and pin 2). 9. Reinstall the computer cover and connect the power cord. Good Luck,

How do I stop the creation of the "Lenovo" folder being created in my start menu every time I restart my system? I have my start menu orginized how I want it, its not the chaos must users have. I delete the folder every time, and it just comes back. Not a major issue but sure is annoying! Any suggestions or help will be appreacated.

Answer:Lenovo Y580 Creates "Lenovo" folder in start menu after every reboot.

A Lenovo folder on your start menu? Where exactly on the start menu  is it, and have you tried opening it? ?t may be an entry in the registry? Have you scanned your system recently? Please go here  http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/ and see if a scan will find malware. Checkmark all appropriate boxes and disable your antivirus just before you start the scan Please remember to turn it on again afterwards. You can also do a shot(quick) scan by going to Start>type mrt.exe into the RUN box, enter then choose Quick scan. Let us know the results,if it is malware the malware forum would be the place to go to, if not malware, then we can take it from there.

I did a search on this Forum and could not find anyone who has reported a similar issue so I decided to post this. I have a Jambox Bluetooth speaker and I was able to pair it successfully for a few days after setting up my new Lenovo X220T Tablet on 6/6/2011. However,  today (6/12/2011), when I tried unsuccessfully to play music through my Jambox speaker, I discovered that the Bluetooth choice had totally disappeared as an option when I brought up the Software Wireless Radio software with [Fn] [F5]. Also, the existence of any Bluetooth capacity had also disappeared from Device Manager. Additionally, when I then attempted to install the Bluetooth driver for the X220 Tablet from the Lenovo website, the driver would not install and indicated that it was not able to install because it could not find Bluetooth on my computer.I spoke with a customer service representative (CSR) at Lenovo service in Atlanta, GA on 6/12/2011 at 4:30 PM PDT. We restored the original BIOS settings and the Bluetooth, which had disappeared earlier, now showed up in wireless devices. The Lenovo CSR ssigned me a case number. However, oddly enough, he could not find a record of my machine in the system even though it had arrived on 6/2/2011 and I attempted to register the machine twice online over the past week..The CSR recommended that I call Lenovo at +1 (888) 776-0920 8:00 AM EDT to provide the case number and ask them to register my computer in the system manually, even though I made the two at... I've been using conservation mode for my new (1 month) lenovo laptop every time I put the AC adapter in it. I thought that this was going to help me endure my battery life, but in the end I've stacked with the fact, that battery's stamina went much more lower. For example, I could use my laptop in a battery economy mode/conservation turned off for 5-6 hours, now it barely lasts 3 hrs with the same settings and the same pattern of usage. Just for record, 21 minute of watching a film costs my battery from 10-20% now, while before it was not an issue at all, I hardly can tell that it drained me more than 5%. Also, right now, while typing this, I've noticed, that behaviour of my percentage bar is also really strange: first it shows 75%, then, after 5 minutes, it showes 73%, without getting through 74%. And as a one big plus to that, my battery status says that my battery is normal, just normal, while before it was great or something like that. I find it strange because it is 1 month old notebook, as I mentioned earlyer. Now I am trying to recalibrate my battery, for the 3d time, hoping it would help me, but I really wish to hear your opinion about that, maybe there is something that I don't know about, something that can help me. P.S. It is 70% now, gezus

Hello this is my first post and I hope someone could lend me a hand. I have a Lenovo B series laptop, more specifically a B570. I've had it for over a year and a half now and it was working fine until I started to see some problems. My first encounter was sartup issues. The machine normally laggs whenever Windows boots up to the user screen. I checked for that and the problem was variface login and the fingerprint reader. Seems like they both caused a delay with the boot. Anyways I got pass that by not shutting down but hibernating.  A few months back I decided then to shut down my machine and that was my mistake. It started up and then lagged, I normally corrected this by jus holding the power botton and starting it up till it works. That worked for a while till that moment. I realized when I powered it down, it refused to pass the Lenovo boot screen and whenever I select F2/F8 all I get is "please wait..." and that lasts for hours. I tried replacing the harddrive, formatting it externally NOTHING. I tried troubleshooting such as RAM replacement n all but still no luck. Even removed the RAM and didnt even get a beep or nothing. Lights are on also. I even resored to CMOS battery pull and NOTHING seems to work. I also noticed that when this happens the processor fan stops spinning also. I really need to solve this issue due to me going to university and all.  Please Help! Thanks.

Answer:URGENT HELP! LENOVO B570 wont pass Lenovo Boot Logo.

hi Netflame,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community.

Can you try the following:
1, Remove the AC adapter and Battery then press & hold the power button for 30secs (this drains the power off the unit).
2. Reseat the CPU (see page 62 of the hardware maintenance manual)
3. After reseating CPU (if applicable, re=apply a thermal compound) and reconnect the following:

a. Fan and Heatsink Assembly
b. Systemboard Assembly
c. Memory Module
d. Keyboard Bezel

4. If applicable, use an external USB keyboard to boot into the BIOS, otherwise, reconnect also the Keyboard and try to boot into the BIOS by pressing or holding down F2. You could also try to press F12 to enter BIOS setup.

If you get into the BIOS,  press F9 to set BIOS to default and press F10 to save and exit BIOS. After exiting, power off the computer and reconnect the remaining peripherals.

If the above procedure doesn't work, you probably have a bad CPU, bad GPU, or a bad motherboard and you need to call lenovo or a local repair store to have it serviced.

Caution:
The CPU is extremely sensitive. When you service the CPU, avoid any kind of rough handling.

Edit: added maintenance manual link

Hope this helps.

I have some problems with the Lenovo software. Lenovo Account Portal does not launch Lenovo Companion and Lenovo Settings. Also, Lenovo Solution Center is missing from the Start Menu. The second problem is that some tiles are blank in Start Menu. Seemingly it's the apps that aren't Metro. I'm not sure when the problem started, but I think it was like that since I got the PC. If I right click the apps, the only option will be "Pin to Start", and with some apps: Share and Rate. Here's a picture of the problem:I did already try:Restarting the PC.Doing scannow, DISM, and scannow again.Fixing Registry errors with CCleaner.Updating BIOS and drivers. What can I do to fix the problem?

Welcome to the forum!

Could you tell us a bit more about the history of events that led up to your problem today?   What Operating system do you have installed on the system?

When was the last time it was working properly, yesterday?   Did you shut it down, or hibernate or sleep?

If you restart now, can you get into BIOS?  If you go into BIOS, can you see your hard disk recognized?

If you try to restart and press F12, can you get a boot device list?  If so, is your hard disk recognized?

Do you have any disks in the optical drive?

If you check the USB ports, are any of them broken with pins bent touching each other?

The newly bought 6 months old Lenovo X1 Carbon 2nd Gen frequently crashes when it is left unattended for 10-15 min when it is connected to the external Lenovo monitor. I gues it has something to do with monitor turning off settings but can't fihure it out, it is stupid that I see blue screen so frequently because the system can't figure out how to turn off the external display... lost so much work and so very much disappointed at both Lenovo and Microsoft... I had an X220 which I loved but next time I am going for a Mac! - a very disappointed customer

I used Lenovo Settings on my Lenovo Yoga 3 11 for the battery conservations mode. So I was forced to install Lenovo Companion since it recently replaced Lenovo Settings.Ever since I did this, I have noticed the following:* Screen brightness keeps changing by itself slightly* Screen contrast keeps changing by itself slightly* Colours look muted and unsaturated, and filtered. Makes the sceen look worse than it should.* trackpad is only ignorred if the tablet mode is fully flat. The slightest opening causes the trackpad and keyboard to become sensitive. All of this irrespective of whether Dynamic Brighness Control is enabled or disabled in Lenvovo Companion hardware settings, and regarless of whether recommended hardware settings are used.Anyone else noticed anything similar? I'll report back after I've uninistalled the app to see whether any of these behaviours disappear.

Answer:Noticed issues ever since I installed Lenovo Companion (which replaced Lenovo Settings)

So I deactivated "Change brightness autoatically when lighting changes" in Windows Display Settings. This seems to have been the cause of the brightness and contrast changes, but the colours still look blander than I recall. Sorry to suspect Lenovov Companion so quickly, but the changes coincided with it's installation. Admittedly Windows 10 Fall edition just landed too.

Here is my problem and here is the solution!!!My B540 Ideacentre would not pass the Lenovo splash screen. The only operational keys I had was F1 (BIOS) and F12 (BIOS options). F2 went to a light blue screen so no chance of even a one key recovery. Warrenty had expired four and a half months ago. I contacted Lenovo and after the guy told me to try F2 twice he said it was a HDD or other hardware failure and would cost around £200 maybe and also would take about two weeks.  AT THIS POINT YOU SHOULD NOT BE ANGRY FRUSTRATED OR PANIC. REMAIN CALM AND STOP AND THINK WHAT ACTUALLY WAS HAPPENING WHEN YOU LAST USED YOUR PC. For me I remembered Windows had auto downloaded 8.1 and was asking me to install. Also my keyboard had lost shift W T Y keys. This told me that it was not a hardware issue but a software issue and perhaps from this update. My HDD was not clicking or beeping and this PC has a 2TB Seagate Barracuda which has a good reputation. Luckly for me I also have a Seagate external expansion 2TB and a 500MB expansion which was the HDD from my old HP Touchsmart which I converted into an external hard drive by buying a HDD enclosure with cooling fan and all leads from eBay for £25 and this is where the solution is. If you can create an expansion drive so easily and access the HDD then why cant I do it with the HDD from my Ideacentre and of course you can. So first unplug your PC or laptop. Next remove the cover and unclip the HDD (which is easy with the B540.... Read more

hi JMey,

Welcome to the Forums.

Some apps like the PowerDVD 10 BD (desktop version) can be re-installed (see link below).

Besides the PowerDVD, do you remember the names of the other programs that got deleted?

If you can't recall the other proprietary preinstalled apps that got deleted then you may want to consider going back to the factory image (Win 8.1) by pressing the OneKey Recovery button then upgrade the unit back to Windows 10.

Just set up my new M83 ThinkCentre. The Lenovo Solution Center is flagging the Storage device as needing attention. The Lenovo Recovery partition (Q - set up in factory, I presume) was set up with 11.9GB and is 87% full. I presume I should ignore the alert because I'm not going to use it unless i had to recover the system back to the factory installation. I don't want to set the reminder to "never" because then i won't be alerted when the main partition in my C-drive approaches capacity.  Should I increase the size of the Q partition? If yes, how would I do that without affecting the content? Or should I just ignore the alerts and live with the annoyance. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

I was excited to see that Lenovo has finally released the B520 system and am ready to order one....however, I'm hesitating for a few reasons.  The technical information on the consumer website is a bit sketchy. I really wish there were links where those of us with computer savvy could read the details specifications on the system. * I notice that it has the Geforce 555M graphics card. On the comparison page there's no distinction about which model(s) are equipped with the Geforce 555M 2G DDR5 chipset vs. the 555M 1G DDR3 chipset. The specs sheet says "Up to Nvidia Geforce 555M 2G" but below a small caption reads "NVIDIA® GeForce® GT555M 1GB/2GB (DirectX® 11)"Which is it for which models? * In all of the ads leading up to the launch of the system, the system boasted about it's Solid State Drive technology. I even saw a video of a demonstrator bragging about how quickly it booted. Yet on release day, this feature is absent from any listings. * The memory says "Up to 16GB DDR3 1333MHz memory" in the spec sheet, yet no system offers this. * The spec sheet refers to "rear, USB 3.0x2 optional", again no mention of this in the comparisons between models. I really don't know who approved the descriptions of hardware offered in this newly released model, but it's poorly written and explained.  I'm disappointed that this information was presented in a logical way that was clearly illustrated to potention buyers.  As it stands there is enough c... Using Windows 10 version 1511 and all updates.  Used the Lenovo System Update and everything has been updated.  I wanted to turn on the built-in camera on my Lenovo Thinkpad Edge 530, the F5 key, and it came up with a message saying, "This key combination opens the Lenovo Settings Program. You do not have the Lenovo Settings Program installed on your computer. To launch the program using this key combination, install the program first." I went and downloaded the Thinkpad Settings Dependency for Windows 10, restarted the laptop and it still doesn't work. Even the Lenovo System Update program has it and I also downloaded it.  I restarted the laptop again and it still doesn't work. I then went to install the Lenovo Settings App on the Windows store and it doesn't look like the right one plus it still didn't work. My other problem is with the Lenovo Companion App from the Windows Store.  It worked before but now it ask to "Please install or update the Lenovo System Interface Driver for full functionality of Companion, then restart the app after installation."  I have installed the Lenovo System Interface Driver multiple times and it still popped up that message.  Yes, I have restarted the laptop and Companion.   Is there a reason why these issues are happening and how to fix it?  Thank you in advance.

Answer:Lenovo 04W3814, will it pass whitelist on Lenovo Edge E540 (Bios 2.16)

Hello and welcome,

The BOM is a little hard to find:  http://download.lenovo.com/parts/ThinkPad/e540_fru_bom_20140728.pdf

Looks like the answer is no.  Nothing in the BIOS readme mentions adding any wifi cards.

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my Lenovo G500s  1.1 years (1 year & 1 month). It worked perfectly until last month. It started to freeze. I restarted the computer (btw I was using licenced win8 back then) and then the lenovo logo showed up and it stuck there. I was waiting for about 10 minutes, but nothing happened. I turned it off manually, and then turned it on,it was still frozen. after some trial of startup,  it worked normally. After 2 days it happened again. I thought it was the system, so I deleted the windows8 and installed windows8.1 licensed, it worked for a month and then again (last night) it just freezes at startup (lenovo logo shows up). Till now its frozen. I restarted it several times, it didnt work. I also pulled out battery & started on AC power which didnt work too. Obviously, i dont have warranty. Does anyone knows what could be the possible problem? I dont Know what to do. plz help...Thanks in advance!

Answer:Lenovo G500s hung at startup (lenovo logo shows up and then it hangs) & cant acess BIOS

Hi AIS,

Welcome to Lenovo forums

As I understood that you are facing the issue with the laptop hanging at the Lenovo logo.

As this is the issue with the hard drive, i would like to suggest you to remove the HDD if possible and try to boot the system to the BIOS.

Hope this helps! Do post us back for further queries.

I recently purchased a Samsung 840EVO 250G SSD hard driver and made it as my main system drive. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on the SSD. However, after I installed Lenovo Energy Management Windows 7, it prompted me a message telling me to restart the PC. When I do so, the computer wouldn't able to boot again. A flash of a blue screen showed up after the Windows 7 logo done and the computer rebooted again; and it keep looping and looping. I am able to fix the blue screen by system restoring. However, the Lenovo Energy Management was still not installed. I'm just wondering, has anyone encountered this problem before, and what are the solutions of fixing this problem. Thank you.

I had a virus a few days ago. I tried to delete the virus after downloading a scanner. My laptop rebooted and had a blue screen that gave me options to fix, reset to factory, etc however the keyboard wasn't working so I couldn't put in my password. The only option without the password was to reset totally so I did. After a while another screen popped up saying there was an issue with the resetting. Long story short when I reboot only the lenovo splash comes up, F2 and F12 at the bottom of the screen, and the curser in the top left corner blinks a few times and then disappears. I can't get it to boot for nothing. I am able to plug another keyboard in but now all I get is the black screen and have no options to reset. I've read that the bios is probably the issue but have not clue how to get this set back up. Won't read usb flash. Please help.

Machine: T520 bought Feb. 2012O.S. W~7 Pro 64-bit I want to wipe the harddrive, buy a Lenovo W~7 PRO installation DVD, and do a completely clean installation. Lenovo User Guide (.pdf) Ch. 8, Adv'd Config, Installing Windows 7, p. 295 (212 of 298) says:Start Thinkpad setup, then choose UEFI versus Legacy, then insert the installation DVD. This obviously does not apply when the harddrive has already been wiped (necessary to 100% eliminate all traces of irreversible damage caused by a virus, including the re-installation partition (Q-drive). When an intallation DVD is purchased from Lenovo, is not the first step to insert the DVD ?!! Then presumably there is an installation wizard resulting in a restored O.S. ?!! If not, please tell me what surprises are in store, and where I can find a reliable written resource to consult !!! Thank-you.

Answer:Clean install from a Lenovo installa. dvd: UEFI vs Legacy + Thinkpad setup acc. to Lenovo user Guide

Hi,

By Start Thinkpad setup presumably the manual means go to BIOS and configure for UEFI.

Strange wording indeed.

Hi, my name is Ben and i own a 2 year old Lenovo Y530 laptop with windows Vista Home Premium.Everything was working fine, when one day about a month and a half ago, i got the "blue screen of death".Better known as an error code, where your computer crashes.I then proceeded to re-install windows vista, where then it failed to install the updates, and only after a very short amount of time of actually being in the desktop of the computer, it crashed once more, giving the classic error message of it might be something new that was installed, or new hardware, when in reality i didn't install or add/remove any new equipment whatsoever.I bought this Laptop in the US 2 years ago in late 2008, and then moved to Israel. So here is the real problem, after checking the HDD for bugs, or viruses, it was fpormatted, and put back in, also following a system recovery from Lenovos one click recovery system. And found that neither the HDD, or the OS was trhe problem. So since i live in Israel, i sent it to my local Lenovo shop, where they said they do not fix these types of lenovo laptops! So how am i supposed to get to the bottom of this issue? if my local computer lenovo store does not fix my model of computer?I would like an answer ASAP because i need this computer for school and such, and the information that was lost is irrelevant, i would just like the computer to be functioning and stable again.Thank you, and much regards,Ben.

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Y530 Crashed, not working, no tech support, need expert/lenovo technician advice

To be covered by warranty, your laptop must have IWS (International Warranty Service). That's the only way to get covered. http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/UserFiles/IWS/20100909035858_62.htm Best regards.

Hi. I've got Lenovo G580 (20150) and I'm trying to install the geforce graphics card present in the system. I don't know exactly what the gpu model is but it's something akin to Geforce 610M. I've got Windows 8.1 installed and the drivers from Lenovo support page for this laptop don't work (I tried drivers for Win 8.1/8/7). During installation the drivers installer says that it "couldn't find appropriate hardware". I also tried various drivers from sites like driveridentifier but none worked. I even installed Win 10 and Windows Update found but couldn't install the drivers. I also have  Win 8.1 freshly installed. It's definitely not an OS problem. I also don't have recovery dvds/partition... Here are the graphics identifiers:PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1140&SUBSYS_397717AA&REV_A1PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1140&SUBSYS_397717AAPCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1140&CC_030200PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1140&CC_0302

Hi daerragh, Welcome to the Community, nice to have you here. Have you tried downloading the driver from Nvidia.com, as per the device id the video card is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 620M. You can also use the NVIDIA driver autodetect to get the right driver. Cheers,

Lenovo G570Model 4334 Hi Whenever i switch on my laptop it stays on the Lenovo start up screen for about 30 seconds, and then powers off. During the 30 seconds the laptop fans runs louder than usual but nothing else happens. Ocassionally it does get past that stage but then takes a long time on the 'starting windows' screen. I've used the onekey recovery to return it to my backup and even returned it to the factory settings but the problem persists. I'm unsure of what to next and how the problem can be solved. Any Suggestions? Thanks.

Answer:Lenovo G570 - Stays on Lenovo start up screen, then powers off

try to load safe mode when you see lenovo logo at start-up. ( f8 )if it works, press f8 again to load "last known good configuration"otherwise, check your ram sticks ( remove/replace/swap ) and check if your hdd is working properly.do you have any heating issue by the way? did you make changes recently?

Hello! I am new to Lenovo and picked up my 1st laptop yesterday when my HP died. I have always had HP and grew tired of how easy they break & poor battery life, so I wanted to try a different band. I love the computer, the keyboard, track pad & screen are amazing. I bought the ideapad 320-15IAP for about $330 (Including tax) The specs at the store advertised 4.5-5 Hours of battery life, but I have not been able to get a charge better than 2 hours. For someone that uses my laptop at work and on the go, this will not do. Can any one offer up any advice? Does lenovo sell stronger batteries for ideapad that I can replace with this current battery?  My next issue is the Windows 10 update that you are forced to do, I have been trying to install it since 9PM last night, it is now 9PM tonight, a full 24 hours, and it has not fully installed. I have done my fair share of google searches and many people have had these same issues too, but no good solutions outside of deep computer hacking, I don't want to have to do that on a brand new computer. Thanks for any and all help!

Please Read carefully, two cases in this message: Yesterday, i noticed a big issue within my notebook. I have a Y550 (P8700 cpu, 4 GB DDR3 RAM, 500 GB HDD, GT130M) and interestingly the battery only lasts 5 minutes before saving state of computer and turning of. I called Customer Support, because it has only been approximately one year since my purchase. The support staff (don't remember his name) told me to use Lenovo Energy Management Program to check to capacity of battery. Well, i did try that but it didn't help my case. He also told me that Lenovo gives only 6 months warranty for battery, but other components has 2 years warranty. It is totally unacceptable and false information. Because, i checked several online forums and resources and finally looked at Turkish Commercial laws and website fo industry and trade ministry. The statement is: Batteries and Recharging Tools are under two years warranty. So, Lenovo's policy is 6 months, but offical statement by Industry and Trade Ministry of Turkey is two years. I read a user's topic (he owns another company's high end laptop) and he had a very similar case like mine. After receiving a reply like mine, he applies to a court against company and company had to replace his battery under warranty, even after 6 months.  Today, i called Lenovo Turkey again, (toll free line) and a madam (her name is Saadet) responded to my call. She tried to help. However, her responses was same as the day bef... Read more

Answer:Problems with Lenovo's Policies and Lenovo Turkey Customer Support

p8700 supports vt but you need bios update which there's not any available for vt.
( you can use feedback form to inform lenovo, but it may take some time and/or they may not publish new bios update )
for replacing battery, you should contact vatan computer, let them ship your laptop back to support line.

I'd purchased a Lenovo Y450 laptop @ the IT fair last June and had encountered several downtime and system issues with the machine.(1) Slow performance (had done a recovery even in less than a month)(2) No sound @ times from the laptop (when restarted a few times, the sound came back...)(3) Some weird sound from the laptop during startup - as if from hard disk(4) Wireless connection - keep getting cut off.*My older laptop does not have these problems... pls advise asap.*My husband called your service hotline the day before and was told the technician will call him back today. He got a call @ 9.14am but was missed. When he called back, the technician by the name of Lawrence, commented "when u see a miss call, u should call me back" !!!I purchased Lenovo product, believing it can serve my purposes and from forum reviews, it seemed to be a reliable product. However, I was utterly disappointed with both the service and the product...I would like to get an explanation on the disappointing service encountered as well as the product deficiency

Answer:VERY disappointed with Lenovo Y450 series and service support from Lenovo!

Yup, I have the same problem too with my Y450. - sometimes there's no sound from my Y450. but after restart, the sound came back as normal. It's pretty annoying cuz each time i need to restart my Y450. - Wireless network could not automatically connect each time my Y450 restarts or boot up.  really disappointed..

The lenovo thinkpad s1 graphics drivers are so old... its so annoying. i am using intel latest may release for intel hd graphics 4400 and it has better performance and quality even though it uses 1gb ram than the lenovo 2014 july update which has 2gb!! lenovo.... somebody pls incorporate the new drivers into the old one.... could that be so hard?? u guys need to carry your customers along.....why edit the graphic cards when u dont plan to ugrade the drivers.. 4400 is still one of intels high graphics cards and they are updating...lenovo are just interested in making people buy laptops and not upgrading them...that super laaaaaaame!!!!!!!!

Answer:PLEASE LENOVO PLS PLS PLS!!! UPDATE YOUR GRAPHICS DRIVERS FOR LENOVO THINKPAD S1 YOGA

I don't see why you want to update your graphics drivers. If it works, it works. If there aren't any bugs there is nothing to worry about. And as far as gaming performance goes, it is still going to be slow and barely going to make a difference. If the generic drivers from Intel, Nvidia or AMD work use those. But make sure that brightness keys etc work correctly.

I have an Asus R558ur which work fast than IdeaPad 310, The quality of my Asus laptop is better than this Lenovo laptop. The Asus laptop cost me 36K and this Lenovo laptop cost me 45K. Lenovo laptop comes full of garbage apps (MC Afee), blah blah, If I run both sides by side. From now on I will never use any lenovo product and will never guide anyone to use lenovo anymore. Done! 1. Asus laptop has a keyboard and better shift key ( In Lenovo it's small).2. VS run faster on Intel 6200u based Asus then Lenovo. 3. Lenovo runs Lenovo.imcontroller and too many s** in the pc. Why the hell Lenovo not even tested the thing they ship. Did Lenovo hardware team even test the keyboard quality before shipping the product? Quality of Lenovo product is worst
