fn Button Reversed (not number lock/ scroll lock)

Question: fn Button Reversed (not number lock/ scroll lock)

Hi, im using a Packard Bell butterfly touch and until recently this had been my linux machine with my full size laptop running windows, however with windows 8 I decided id utilize the touchscreen on this machine and have a swap around. Replaced Ubuntu with Windows 8 fine however now on some of my keys the fn key is reversed (Ive included a picture to show which keys). The keys affected imply that number lock is on, however it is not and i have ensured so using registry editor, stick keys is not on either.

Any help much appreciated as this is driving me mad and makes typing very awkward...

cheers

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello! Since the most recent build of W-10 (9879), my caps lock, num lock, and scroll lock lights do not function on either computer on which I have W-10 installed (a desktop with a USB keyboard and a laptop with an integrated keyboard). The keys still work to correctly toggle the functionality, but the keyboard lights don't work. In case it matters, my keyboard's actual backlights and my mouse's internal light (not the laser, the internal LED) are working correctly, it's just the CL, NL, and SL indicators that don't function.

Anyone have any ideas for fixing this?

Answer:Caps lock, num lock, scroll lock lights no longer function

Welcome to Windows TenForums, Vaindil.

It doesn’t seem to work on anyone’s system and there doesn’t seem to be a fix yet. You can read here into the beginning of the next page if you like.

I'm using an HP Pavilion dv6000 Notebook series. I noticed that my Caps Lock LED is not working but its FUNCTION is working fine.. same goes with Scroll Lock. Sometimes electrical components needs to have all power sources removed and reintroduced to work properly.  Try performing a hard reset first, if it doesn't work then try updating your BIOS.  If neither works...It's pretty much dead and not worth fixing.  To Perform A Hard Reset Shut down the computer by going to the Start menu and selecting shut down. (If you have no display, hold the power button down for  5 seconds)Disconnect the AC Adapter from the notebook.Remove the battery from the bottom of the notebook.  There will be a switch/button to eject the battery.Wait at least 1 minute with all power sources disconnected.Re-insert the battery and reconnect the AC Adapter and then attempt to power on the notebook.

Hi,

how to disable Caps lock, num lock, scroll lock screen messages?

I have desktop pc with two keyboards usb and bluetooth. Also TOSHIBA Bluetooth Stack software, but in device manager: keyboard > hid keyboard device both using microsoft drivers. And I dont have any software installed for keyboards. Also bluetooth has separate system tray indications (it is also disabled) so its not that. I made some googling and found other fix it with Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Widcomm\BTConfig\General KeyIndication set to 0, but I dont have it in registry. Acualy I dont have anywhere in registry KeyIndication. So any ideas how to disable it? Thanks

Answer:Caps lock, num lock, scroll lock screen messages

Hi,

You'll find that the messages are controlled by a piece of software that came pre-installed on your machine when you bought it. Try looking for a Hotkey managing app to see if the notifications can be disabled.

For some time now, i have been experiencing that my Num Lock, Caps Lock and Scroll Lock all lights up (not blinking) all at the same time, I tried to google it but i can not find any solutions or explanations for it.

Does anyone know if it is bad? and what is causing this?

I am having a wired keyboard with nothing fancy just a standard issue Logitech keyboard.

Answer:Num Lock, Caps Lock and Scroll Lock all lights up (not blinking)

Can you toggle those functions off, one at a time? Sometimes restarting the computer will use the last state it was in, I'd fully shut down and pull the power cord from the computer and the keyboard cable then put them back and try again.

Answer:Lenovo W510 scroll lock stuck - no scroll lock key

Hi, Anton8

I did some research and found this document from Microsoft that may help. If Scroll Lock is turned on, but there is no Scroll Lock on your keyboard, then you may want to try using the On-Screen Keyboard and see if it is enabled there, There is also a setting on the status bar that should allow you to disable it.

Hope it helps,Adam

Well, I have no idea what caused this but the tablet buttons (even the on/off button) the lights for caps lock and scroll lock as well as the automatic screen orientation change when I flip it to be a tablet have stopped working. Also the screen does not turn off anymore when the lid is closed. Reinstalled pretty much all of the drivers, no effect.Any ideas? Is this thing already broken?

I went to get my HP dv4 Pavilion laptop after work tonight to check email and i opened it up and moved around the mouse to wake it up...the lights on they keyboard all came on as if it were starting but the screen stayed black. I waited a few minutes because sometimes it's been known to take a few seconds to actually kick on...but nothing happened so I forced shutdown by holding the power button. Turned it back on and the screen came on(with a "your system didn't shut down properly error screen) but it still started, but now the Caps Lock and Scroll keys had blinking lights on the side and top, blinking together about every second. I tried tapping the buttons and nothing happened. What caused this and how can i get rid of the blinking. I've read from doing a google search that shutting down, taking the battery out and unplugging from the A/C adapter and holding the power button for 15 seconds takes care of the problem...but I would like to make sure that is safe before trying as this is a fairly new laptop(just got it at Christmas time). I'm running Windows 7 if that makes a difference. would also like to add that I just noticed that my little batter icon says it is plugged in but not charging....it's sitting at 80%....this is a brand new ac adapter that I just got last week...so I hope it's not that.Thank you for any help you can give me....and sorry if this isn't the right forum....it seemed to be the best fit.

Hi,I have an inspiron 9400 that has been having some issues lately.  As of right now, when I push the power button, the power light comes on but it does not boot or even post.  The Num lock stays on and the caps lock and scroll lock lights blink for about 40 seconds then the whole thing shuts off.  This can obviously be only a few things but, how to I figure out what those blinking lights mean.  I have search dell support but have found nothing.  Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Answer:blinking Caps lock and Scroll lock/ no boot up

Try reseating your RAM securely in their slots.  I have read that blinking of any of the lock indicators is a sign of memory failure.

Hi,

I've just a simple questions (maybe): I recognized, that pressing the NUM LOCK key causes the LED of that key to flash on, ok thats`s normal, but also the CAPS Lock key LED turns on weak.

Now, when I'm pressing the CAPS Lock the LED gets brighter.
Switching off NUM Lock turns off the LED, thats ok, the CAPS LOCK is still burning bright (because it was pressed as well).
Pressing CAPS LOCK again turns the LED off.

Funny thing is: Pressing the CAPS Lock forces the LED of it and the LED of the NUM LOCK to turn on.....

Any ideas or hints?

Apparently Windows 10, and I don't know for how long before that, has had a feature that when you change Scroll Lock / Num Lock key settings there is a notification that flashes on the screen. I have never used these keys and so have never noticed this annoyance before.

However, due to an update in VirtualBox which saves and restores the state of these keys between virtual machines and the Windows Host, I now see these notifications and they are very very annoying. Especially if you are capturing a screen shot.

As you can see from this screenshot of a virtual machine window, it's trashed by the windows 10 overlay. It took me sometime to prove to myself that the problem is the interaction between the VM in virtualbox and Windows 10. I'm not suggesting that this is VirtualBox fault, since someone probably wants the key settings saved / restored in the VM. And I'm not saying that Windows 10 should never display this, since some folks probably love this feature.

But I need to turn it off.

I've looked through the settings and can't see a way to turn this off.
Can anyone show me how to turn off this display in Windows 10?

Thanks much,
wg

I need help. I will explain when I believe the problem began. I Had windows xp running with 3 harddrives and a Cdrom drive. My CdRom drive began to give me problems, so I was going to swap it with one from one of my other computers. At the same time I wanted to change the way I had all my drives connected. I had originally had the 80 gig drive as a Primary Master, with a smaller drive acting as the Slave. I also had the Cdrom as Master Secondary drive and a smaller drive attached as the Slave. Now everthing was running fine, exept that my cdrom drive would read the discs only if it would start up with the disk in the drive. If I tried to change it, windows would ask me to place a disk in the F: drive, when there already was one. I thought to replace the CdRom drive with another working device. while at the same time I decided to change up my Connections. I took the "new" cd rom drive and made it Slave Primary to the Master 80 Gig drive. then I took the two smaller drives and put them together as sencondary devices. when I tried to turn on the computer all that happens is, as soon as I touch the power my 3 lights on my keyboard come on. Num Lock Caps Lock and Scroll Lock. I know the drive is turning on because I can feel & here it wirr. I tried taking everything off except for the 80 gig drive and I still got the same problem. Later on I noticed that there are a bunch of smaller connections that come from the front of my computer power, sleep, and reset buttons. ... Read more

First one is: When I click jpg, gif, or any image files that uses the photo viewer as a default viewer, photo viewer pops up twice, one with the file I selected and one with the collection screen. Second one is: I use a PIN as my login password. The number lock on the log in screen doesn't work. I almost always have to press NUM Lock button in order to use the number key pad. I checked the BIOS setting and Num Lock is on.

I will be appreciate any help.

You've posted 2 different problems that should have been separate posts. I don't have a solution to the first but the second is probably because the keyboard driver has not yet loaded before getting logged in. I saw the same during setup of a new ASUS Notebook just yesterday that came with Win8.1. Disconcerting was the lack of a light or screen indication that the NumLk key had been pressed, just noticed the same is occurring on my Dell Inspiron 15R that has been Upgraded to Win10 although it is a rescued/rehabbed Notebook, it does have the light on the front edge of the case, just does not turn on.

Hi everyone.I have an acer 6930, running windows 7.I have a problem with the following; it starts with the volume word being displayed on screen permanently, along with this, the volume up & down control is disabled. When this is on screen the caps lock is locked on and the number lock is locked on so i can't use the numerical side of the keyboard. I've also noted that if I'm surfing the net, instead of a new page opening up on a tabbed page(so i just back space to the original entry) I get new tabs opening every time I click on something on the page.

Answer:volume / cap lock / number lock problem

If the numlock is lit and you can't use the numeric keypad, you have a keyboard problem. Numlock being lit means the keypad is active or enabled.Check your browser settings. How new pages open and links respond is controlled by the browser.Download the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool and run it.http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down...It changes, so download and run it weekly. Question: CAPS LOCK reversed

Here is a post from jonto12 in 2009 that has expired but I have the same problem:

Reverse Caps Lock, Clicking Links Open New Windows - And Other major problem... Virus
Reverse Caps Lock, Clicking Links Open New Windows - And Other major problems... Virus? Cant type numbers, on and off for over a year - really need help.

last night , I experienced a strange series of occurences on my computer (Windows XP/ PRO) that I thought had ended - .

when I was typing, that I was doing so in all caps - even though my Caps Lock was disabled.

When I enabled Caps Lock, it then started typing all lower case letters.

Other keyboard symptoms: the period and the comma were not available, only able to type > or < with or without the Shift key. Also, the Shift key didn't work with most keys for characters. There were also issues in selecting text in a field.

Another nuisance during this period is that when I clicked on a link, it would open up a new browser window, as opposed to the link opening in the same window.

Frustrated, I restarted the computer. I made sure no keys were stuck. When I rebooted, it appeared I was still experiencing these weird symptoms. I had double clicked on an icon on my desktop, it had selected more than one icon and opened the first one to the right.

Answer:CAPS LOCK reversed

I also switched from hibernate to standby. No change.

One other thing. When I open Word the first letter I type is a small cap which is correct. The next letter is a Large cap and it stays that way until I turn off the computer and restart it.

A little earlier today our caps lock keys seemed to be reversed. When I pressed Caps Lock, I got lower case. When it was unactivated, I got all upper case. Now it is not doing that anymore. What could have caused it? How do I fix it if it happens again? My son and husband play computer games a lot that require hitting lots of keys. Could that have done it?

Also, I don't know if it is related, but when I was checking my e-mail, instead of replacing the window already open, when I clicked on mail it opened a new window. A new window was opened for every e-mail I opened also.

Thanks so much. You guys are great.

I must have hit some command keys in error - caps lock is reversed, numeral keys always produce symbols, entire page highlights when I click on a section or file (e.g jpeg). How can I fix this? Running Windows XP.
Thanks!

Answer:[SOLVED] caps lock reversed, etc.

Hi JodyO and welcome to TSF !

Have you tried pressing the caps lock key again or pressing the shift key to deactive the caps lock ?

It could also be the shift key that's stuck, try to repress it several times.

Go to control panel => accessibility options and check that the sticky keys are not enabled.

Lastly, try to reboot the computer, and unplug/replug the keyboard.

CAPS LOCK reversed

Has anyone else experienced this problem? The more people know about this, the better! please help - I have formated the entire machine and drives - problem just reappears.

I have installed Virtual PC 2007 onto my Vista X64 and created a W2K VM. If I bring up notepad in the VM and start to type the case is upper. When I hit the CAPS Lock key my X64 OS shows a message near the task bar of the state of the CAPs lock key. The state it displays is always reversed from what I am typing in notepad on the VM.

I have installed SP4 in my W2K VM, this was supposed to fix some issues with the CAPs lock. I would suspect that the state of the CAPs lock in the VM would be separate from my Vista X64 OS.

Thanks,

Hello, I got my new Lenovo Ideapad U410 (Windows 7) yesterday and I'm just starting to get things going. The one thing that has been bothering me is that I can't scroll uing the touchpad. It must be the Page Up button/Scroll Lock using the Fn Key, but I've tried it and absolutely nothing happens. The Fn Key works for the upper keys (F1, F5, etc.) but not for the buttons on the side (Home/Pause, End/Break, PgUp/ScrLk, PgDn/Insert). I figure I should reinstall keyboard drivers? I'm really sorry, I've looked through different threads but it seems they all have a different solution and I'm getting a bit confused haha.  Thank you!

Answer:U410 Scroll Lock / FN Key not working - I can't scroll using the touchpad

Hi, since you got the laptop yesterday, did you install / uninstall any drivers? Or did the problem exist  right up? ?f the former please roll the driver(s) back. ?f the problem occured later on,you could do a system restore, if you have a restore point, or even since the system is so new,you could restore to factrory settings. after backing up. Otherwise please call Lenovo support, they'll advise you.

Question: Scroll Lock

Hi all,

I have a Philips freevents laptop and find it works well for what I use it for (browsing the internet and emailing).

I have a small problem in that the scroll lock key seems to be premanently on. i.e. when editing email, i cant use the arrow key to move the cursor back one letter, additionally the delete key does not work. The delete key is the scroll lock key when using the function key.

I have tried to switch off the scroll lock by holding the blue function key and pressing the delete key, but this has no effect.

Has anyone else had this problem and is there a solution you guys can assist me with this frustrating issue. I hope the issue is just me missing the obvious.

Thanks

I don't think i've ever used this since i migrated to windows 3.1. Think i used it for something like CTRL-BREAK back in DOS.

Every keyboard i've used since then still has it but i've never actually did find out what it's for.

Answer:What's the scroll lock for?

The idea was to stop scrolling text in DOS, basically. Theoretically if you pressed Scroll Lock it would cause text to stay within the window, meaning if the text scrolled down - as it filled the screen, like holding Enter would cause the prompt to jump to the next line, the next, etc, then "scrolling" off screen as new text replaced the old.

What you'd end up with is text that got to the bottom then started from the top and went back down again, sort of "locking" it into the given frame of the display. I used it one time in all my years, just once, and it did work, but that was way back around 1983 or something, never saw it as being useful since it overwrote what I was tried to read just as badly as having the content scroll offscreen. Either way I couldn't do what I wanted to do sooo...

Quatroking......  here you go courtesy of Computer Hope ........   Scroll lock keyKey found on a computer keyboard sometimes located close to the keyboard pause key. The scroll lock key is intended to temporarily stop the scrolling of text or halt the operation of a program. Today, many programs commonly do not utilize or function properly with this key. So, I have no scroll lock on my Dell XPS. This would be no problem for the average user, however I play a game where the scroll lock is VERY important and it cannot be keybinded to any other key. I NEED the scroll lock button. I have an FN key as well. and yes there really is NO scroll lock key including all of the FN combinations so please don't tell me there is. If you're curious it of the exact system it is a Dell XPS L702X

Is there a registry entry, or a third party program I can use to switch any of my other keys into functioning as the scroll lock key?

I'd appreciate any help, thanks!

Hi everyone,

If anyone can assist it would be much appreciated. I am in need of switching the delete key to the scroll lock key, so the delete key cannot work for ctrl alt del function.

I am running windows 7 home prem 32bit and have tried running pretty much every program like sharp keys and key mapper with no luck.

Thanks,

Answer:Delete to scroll lock

Sorry, but I don't think that will be possible. The Scoll Lock, together with Caps Lock, Num Lock, and, if you have one, F. Lock, are what are known as toggle keys in that they toggle the functions of a group of keys on the keyboard. Quite why we still have Scroll Lock I'm not sure, since I've never come across anything where it might be used.

In any case, even if it was possible, you would still have the alternative Del key on the numberpad to deal with.

On my laptop, while typing in MS Word, my scroll lock will get turned on. Is there a key stroke that I am hitting in error, and if so, what is the reverse so I can turn it off. Whenever this happens, I am in a meeting taking minutes, and I have to completely shut down my computer in order to fix the problem. Help!

Answer:scroll lock key strokes

There is a scroll lock key on a standard keyboard but it's usually in the upper right hand corner where it would be hard to accidently hit. On a laptop, you would probably have to press the function key and the scroll lock key to activate it so again it would be rather hard to accidently turn it on so I don't know how you are turning it on. Can"t you just press the scroll lock key to turn it off instead of rebooting?

Hello, I'm use to using the Fn key to enter numbers quickly.  With the T520, I cannot figure out what I need to press in conjunction with J to enter 1.  I don't want to use NmLk because I need to use the alpha too.  What am I missing? Thanks-

AFAIK, Fn+J=1, but NumLock has to be ON. Hi, thanks in advance for any advice...I have seen lots of threads regarding this on a PC, but not for a Mac. I am using Mac OS X version 10.5.8 running Excel 2008 version 12.2.3.

The scroll lock is stuck on, yet there is not a scroll lock key to disengage it. (This causes the spreadsheet to shift while the cell doesn't change.) I have tried rebooting, unplugging the keyboard and mouse, and various combinations of shift/control/option/apple with caps lock, num lock and F keys to no avail. Just under the horizontal scroll bar, and next to the Caps and Num lock indicators, "SCRL" is illuminated. There is a scroll lock indicator on my keyboard which is not illuminated.

Well, we do have many things missing on this Workstation (see other comments), but here is the latest discovery. All last week I needed to do some cross referencing of Excel worksheets and Access databases.  I use "Synkronizer", and excellent Excel comparator who's author fears piracy and links the application to the machine and checks EVERY USE!.  So I'm not at liberty to move the application easily.  When needed I export an Access table to Excel, and compare, merge, etc, then reimport into Access or work in Excel....  Long story. BUT the issue.  ^K (Ctrl-K)  which is the cryptic Scrl-Lock key on this so called workstation with 4 dumb wasted keys in the upper right hand, does not work within two Excel sheets. The work around is within Excel, using [Syncronized Scrolling], and [View Side by Side]. BUT now it forces an horizontal scroll, when a vertical would be desireable. What a pain! After I got back, I tested the same thing on my desktop, WITH A REAL SCROLL LOCK KEY, and it worked correctly. If there was a REAL scroll-Lock key on the W540, this would not be an issue. What is the point? The W540 is NOT a Workstation. If you do not program, work in Excel or Access, then this is a moot point.  The W540 is a dumb terminal for cloud applications, surfing, eMail, watching YouTubes and videos. For this one, there is really NO workaround. Am I wrong?  Has someone tested the multiple windows scroll... I have an interesting problem that I have not been able to fix. It all started when my keyboard died and I had to get a new one. I bought a fairly cheap one from ebay, with illuminated keys. My old keyboard also had illuminated keys, but it has transparent keys and EL backing for the illumination as well as it's own on/off button to turn the lights on and off.

The new keyboard has black keys, with transparent letters and uses LED lighting for the illumination, but the backlight turns on and off with the scroll lock for some crazy reason. I use my keyboard in the dark quite a bit which is why I always get these illuminated keyboards, but when I boot into windows the scroll lock is always off by default.

I wanted the backlight on as soon as I turn on the computer, but my motherboard's BIOS has no option for it ( Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3l , Award BIOS I believe ). So I wanted it on at least for the login screen and after login to desktop. I did some google searches and found these keys which should enable this:

"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Keyboard\InitialKeyboardIndicators"

and also

"HKEY_USER\Control Panel\Keyboard\InitialKeyboardIndicators"

Setting these keys to a value of "6" is supposed to enable the NumLock and ScrollLock at the login screen as well as after login to the desktop. Well, it doesn't work and the values keep changing back to a value of "2" which is NumLock only.

I have searched and searched for h... Read more

You need to open Notepad and copy-paste the folowing script:
Set wshShell =wscript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
Dim i
i=0
do while(i<=0)
wscript.sleep 200
wshshell.sendkeys "{SCROLLLOCK}"
i=i+1
loop
Now save it as .vbs (any name)

As a last resort you need to create a task to your pc to start it on log in.
In windows 7 Start on search type : task and you will find the Task Scheduler , start it and create a new task in "Task Scheduler Library" by right click and Create Task ;now in trigger section create new trigger and select Begin The Task : At Logon and Any User , then in action create new Start a Program and select your script , finaly in Settings Section select: Allow task to be run on demand , also Run task as soon as possible... and as last "If the task is already running , then the following rule applies : stop the existing instance. Now reboot your system and it will turn scroll lock on .

Hi all, I pretty much always scroll by holding down the middle button and pulling down on the Trackpoint. But somewhat recently I've noticed a new problem -- it seems a number of sites now change pages when the middle button with Trackpoint veers a bit to the left or right. For example, I'll be scrolling down, and then all of a sudden I'm flying off to other pages (because my pull on the Trackpoint isn't perfectly vertical). Has anybody else noticed this on certain sites you visit? Is there some setting that might help stop this "page changing" behavior? Thanks!

Ideal state would be just change the values - in a result numlock would be turned on by pressing "scrlk" key, and scroll lock would be turned on by "fn+scrlk". Num lock would help me a lot, since I don't use Excel very often. I would be very glad for all suggestions! Thank You and wish a nice day! Skrble

THE "HP On-Screen Caps/Num/Scroll lock Indicator" shows up in Programs and Features, but the size cell is empty!! Indicator lost during a previous "fix" of an unrelated problem. HP states they can neither replace the file nor download the file contenets. What, Where, and How can I retrieve the indicator as I have a &[email protected]*+ remote keyboard? HELP!

Answer:HP On-Screen Caps/Num/Scroll lock Indicator

Hi, khdphd, and welcome to the forum....

They say they cannot download the file? I have always seen every HP that uses those hkCMD.exe files to be able to download them for that computer in the event of a reinstall.

Did you look at software available for download for your computer? If it is there, then you can download it, uninstall the current version, reboot and install that one and it should load the original files back in place.

Try uninstalling hkcmnd from Programs and Features (it may be named something a bit more fancy)

And I know what HP *said* - but look anyway.

I just got my X100e for school.  I seem to have a repetitive problem when using excel 2007.  The scroll lock function gets activated and I cant disable it short of re-booting my laptop.  Any thoughts?  NOTE: there is no Scroll Lock Key on this model.  Thanks for your help.

Hey,
First off, thanks for reading. I have a bit of a bizarre problem. After turning on my laptop (Windows 7, 64bit), it seems that the keys C,X and B have bound themselves to Scroll lock, and i have no idea why. I've delved into the setting and have no idea what to do next, nothing seems to work. Can any of you help? Thanks

My scroll lock key will randomly blink periodically, but not always.  I generally have the same programs open -- Word, Excel, Firefox, Thunderbird, a .wav player program, a text expander, etc. -- and I have not been able to narrow it down to coming from any particular program.  When the scroll lock light is randomly blinking, though, it affects my text expander *and* it affects the spell check in MS Word (at the flash, it looks like it is making an edit to the spell check).  Does anybody have any ideas of where I could track down why this light is blinking and how to get it to stop?

I get the blinking caps lock/ scroll lights once a month or so. Restarting or doing a hard reset usually fixes the issue. But is there something I can do to resolve this? Apparently the 4 blinking sequence signals a graphics controller issue, but not sure what this means or how to fix.

Anytime I power-on the laptop within 6 seconds the caps lock and the scroll lock lights start blinking and I don't even have a log-on screen ( whole screen is dark) with laptop still running - but I can't get access to sign on - not responding. It just started doing that 48hrs ago.

My numbers lock & scroll lock are coming on & off by themselves (along with "exception beeps"). In addition "b,n,*, & /", appear in text windows without me typing them. Sometimes they appear a few times, other times they repeat many times. Drop down menus appear & highlight different options without me doing anything. Sometimes a highlighted option is selected / clicked on without me doing it. At times my mouse becomes non functional, it freezes I can not highlight and use backspace to clear the offending text. Other times, the back space will not work without the mouse being froze. Less often, a new page that i didn't click on, will open.
