Windows Explorer unwanted scrolling

Question: Windows Explorer unwanted scrolling

I open Windows Explorer with the Windows keyboard key plus "e". I begin navigating in the left pane to the desired folder by using the scroll bars and expanding folders by using the + at the left of folder names. Not every time but most times the left panel will scroll of its own volition. Up or down, it does not seem to be consistent. Then I have to go back to the scroll bar and return the left pane to the view I wanted and was at. This happens on my laptop at work and my desktop at home. How do I configure Windows Explorer to stay where I put it?

Thanks.

Steve

Preferred Solution: Windows Explorer unwanted scrolling

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Windows Explorer in Windows 7 is aggravating me. In the left panel, when I click on the little + sign to expand a folder to show its subfolders, Windows Explorer scrolls the selected main folder to the bottom of the panel. I then have to scroll the expanded list of subfolders up the screen so I can see it. Windows Explorer does this most, but not all, of the time. How can I keep Windows Explorer from scrolling the list to the bottom of the panel? Is there a way to get Windows Explorer to put the line with the name of the expanded main folder at the top of the panel? Thanks.Steve

Answer:Windows Explorer unwanted scrolling

That's a known "bug" in the RTM (Released To Manufacturing) version of Windows 7 without SP1 installed. So installing SP1 might fix it. SP1 is normally delivered via Automatic Updates.

S7-391 running WIN 8.1    On startup and for up to an hour after the computer will scroll downward without pressing a key or touching the keypad. Can't tell if this is a hardward or software issue. After a time, it stops and all functions well. Seems to be localized to the UP button which doesn't work initially either. If I hit escape key it stops scrolling, whether in WORD, CROME etc. , but shortly after starts to scroll again.  Anyone have any thoughts?

Answer:Unwanted scrolling.

Sounds like a stuck down arrow key.

Question: Unwanted scrolling

Unwanted scrolling. Running XP on a Dell XPS with a Logitech wireless mouse. Scrolling will occur at any time and I am powerless to stop it. Sometimes the scroll is short but other times it runs for a while. It is accompanied by a clicking sound not unlike the clicking heard from an auto starter with a dead battery.

Question: Unwanted Scrolling

I have googled the crap out of this one on a few occasions and still haven't come up with anything like this, so I'm biting the bullet and crying for help.

The problem I'm having is unwanted scrolling in an inactive window. I have Explorer open using a web-based system at work and when I scroll down in that window the window I have arranged below with the Excel spreadsheet with the user acceptance testing script I'm plodding through scrolls even though the window is inactive. I think I've also had the same problem in Outlook, though not for some time that I've noticed, that scrolling down through my emails in my inbox has caused the email in the preview window to scroll down as well.

Any thoughts welcome.

Answer:Unwanted Scrolling

hmmm...goes away when I close and reopen Excel...

But this happens frequently, so if anyone might know why, I'd love to hear it.

I accidentally slept on my keyboard and mouse. The scrolling and sound settings are now very strange.

This is what happens... When I press the Windows key and the tab key, itís cycling through the windows way faster than usual and backward compared to its usual thing.

Also, when I drag the scroll bar up and let go, it doesnít stay there, it scrolls down automatically.
The sounds for an invalid mouse selection is also different, a more strange,

I have Windows 7 64 bit operating system. Everything else is working OK, including the sound.

Does anyone know what I should do??

Answer:Unwanted automatic scrolling et al.

Try replacing the keyboard & mouse. If the buttons are sticking or accidently got wet that could cause your problem.

When I've been on the internet lately the screen has been auto-scrolling to the bottom of the page. I did a virus scan to see if that was causing it somehow and got nothing. I'm not sure at this point whether it's a problem with my mouse or with Internet Explorer. I use a Dell Inspiron E1505 with no added external drivers.

Answer:strange unwanted scrolling

I had the same problem a couple of years ago, mine was the mouse. Do you have another mouse to try? Or maybe take yours to a friend or have a them bring one over and try it..

I just got a used Acer Aspire 3000-3004 I'm not sure.  It says 3004 on back but 3000 on everything else.  I first started it and opened IE to get Chrome installed, but IE was scrolling on it's own.  I thought this might be some kind of infection so I came here first to find out.  Has someone taken over this pc?  Wanted to get some advice before I even did a scan with free AVG antivirus.  I also have Recovery discs if that is the beast way to go, and, considering it is Used - perhaps this is the best thing to do.  I have another Laptop running Linux if needed, this new used laptop will be for Windows needs.

In System Properties I removed the Tick in the box for "Allow Remote invitations to be sent from this compter"

It says 2GB of Virtual memory, that means it's got 2 GB of RAM right?

Another question: The C:Drive says that only 10GB is being Used and 69.6 of free space.  Is that possible with an XP install, seems very small to me.

Hi
I've Dell Inspiron 1564, Windows 7 Ultimate and everything was working fine until I installed UXStyle Core Beta and a custom theme. Now my left and right arrow keys are scrolling within a row but at the end of a row of files/ folders in windows explorer but its not going on to next row with right arrow and previous row with left arrow. I checked scrolling between lines in MS Word and everything's fine there. I've even tried switching back to default windows theme.

Any help?

Answer:Arrow keys not scrolling in windows explorer

Seems like uninstalling UXStyle Core Beta and a custom theme would fix the problem.

I've had to turn off the single finger/ single click feature in Touchpad Settings because it is nearly impossible to use 2-finger scrolling in browsers (Firefox and Chrome) without inadvertently activating a left click on a link. Of course I've set Touchpad sensitivity to the lowest setting but I can't  actually detect much if any difference between the highest and lowest sensitivity settings. Unwanted left clicks are just insanely too easy to make and none of the several official Lenovo Touchpad driver updates I've installed in the months since I bought this laptop have helped this issue. I know what a good Lenovo touchpad feels like - my Yoga 2 Pro touchpad was excellent. But that was before I believe most touchpad control settings became part of Windows 10 rather than left up to individual manufacturers? Now I'm back to the primitive method of pressing hard for a left click(s). It can actually be tiring to constantly to that and brings back unpleasant memories on using a 14 year old Dell laptop. Is this a recognized problem or is my X1 Yoga special?

Hi everyone,

This is my first post here. I just got a Dell XPS 8300 with Windows Professional 64-bit. So far, most everything seems to be working normally. However, in Windows Explorer (which I use a lot), the left-side Navigation Pane is getting all screwed up visually when I scroll.

As an aside, I would really like to turn off smooth scrolling in Windows Explorer, but can't figure out how to do it. I have "smooth-scroll list boxes" unchecked, but it doesn't seem to help. I can get TweakUI for XP to run in compatibility mode either (someone on another forum was able to use that to disable smooth scrolling). I wonder if the animated smooth scrolling is causing the problem.

Different types of scrolling cause different degrees of the problem, but it happens nearly all the time. Hitting F5 will clean up the screen, but I would rather figure out what's causing the screen repaint problems.

I've attached a screenshot of what's happening.

I've done many searches (on this forum and other places) and not seen much, if any, people talking about this.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Chris

Well, lately my explorer has been opening new windows when I double-click on a folder.

In the folder options I have it set to open in the current window. I tried to cycle it(select open in new window, then back to current window) but it still opens in a new window.. Any ideas as to why this is happening? I am certain its something I (or my cat while I was away, as she likes the keyboard) did.

I'm using WIN XP, SP3. Last week I caved to the inevitable and removed Windows IE7 from my computer using Add/Remove programs. I've double-checked and can't see any IE installed on my system and now I'm a happy, dedicated Firefox 7 user. Problem is, Windows keeps sending me a Security Update for IE6 that I can't get rid of: Security Update for Internet Explorer 6 - KB972260. Every time it does I uncheck the update listing and check the box that says "don't show this to me again" - but it keeps coming back. I can't find this problem mentioned anywhere else so am looking for help here. How can I permanently disable this unwanted update offering?

Answer:How do I get rid of unwanted and unneeded Windows Security Update for Internet Explorer KB972260

Because you can't uninstall IE. It will screw up your computer. You don't have to use it but you have to have it. That's not the answer you want but it's the correct answer.

My background is 3840 by 1080. I have 55 pictures in a Dropbox account of that size. When I click on one of the last ones, to make it background, or just to look at it... the scroll bar on the right goes right back up to the top.

Windows 8 and 8.1 did the same. It is so annoying, to always have to down to the bottom of the folder manually.

Windows 7 never did this. I wish they would make it as Windows 7 handled this..!

I've got a logitech mouse and the scroll button works fine in mozilla by that I mean when you scroll the wheel it moves then stops. But when I'm in internet explorer and use the scroll wheel the scrolling keeps move after I've stopped moving the wheel. I've tried the settings in the logitech software, but nothing stops the scrolling from continuing to move a few times after you move the wheel. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Don't know if your mouse works like mine (It's a DEll) but in scrolling, if I DON'T clik the switch, it stops just like it should. But if I do Click the switch & produce the little up/dn arrow thingy & then point it in a direction, it'll keep moving!

Hi,

I don't remember seeing this when I first started Windows 7 so I must've accidentally enabled it somewhere. Don't know what it's called, so I couldn't do a proper search for it.

Basically, this tooltip shows up next to the scrollbar as I scroll up and down. It updates to show Explorer's topmost file in view, and I have no use for it.

Where can I disable this feature?

Thanks!

I own a Dell Dimension 8250 w/ Windows XP

Ever since I updated my computer to Internet Explorer 7 (from the most recent version, 6 or 6.2?), my scrolling has become very slow (scrolling down and up the webpage). I have no idea why either. Also, when I close the webpage, the actual webpage becomes white (goes away) and I'm left with my google search, command bar, address bar, you know... (as if you opened a pure white webpage) I have to go to task manager and "End Now". However, this does not always happen and I can close it normally (rarely happens). I tried downloading IE6.2 (or 6 whatever version it was), but it won't let me because it says a newer version of IE is already on the computer.

I'm not really sure if the problem is even from IE or if it's from some other program

Please help & thanks,

Mat

Welcome to the forum.

I can't answer your question ...
But to say that many of us have had to roll back to IE6.
I also switched to FireFox for my main "explorer"

IF you want to try rolling back to IE 6 ...
go to Add Remove > check the box that says "show updates" ...
Find and remove the IE 7 update >>> and reboot.

Is this a bug within Internet Explorer, or is there a way to overcome this within the program itself.

Using a Logitech Laser mouse, which came with the LX710, there is an issue when attempting to scroll through a long list of files inside Windows Explorer while using the wheel. The cursor jumps to the end, or to the beginning, but will not stop in between. On the other hand, if I access a long list of Word files directly through Word, the wheel functions perfectly.

**It was suggested I move this thread to the hardware forum. Copy and paste were the only ways I could figure out how to do this.

My computer is an HP Pavilion dv6000 running Vista Ultimate 64 bit. I recently had a hard drive replaced and the OS reinstalled.

This morning I was irritated to find that my IE is very choppy when scrolling. I looked this problem up online, and I tried the couple of ideas I read about...mainly making sure that "smooth scrolling" was checked in a couple places.

Also, the laptop seemed hotter than usual when I was using it. I downloaded SIW, and the temperatures are as follows:
ACPI - 121 F (50 C)
AMD - 116 F (47 C)
NVIDIA - 156 F (69 C)

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Answer:Internet Explorer scrolling is choppy and laptop seems hot

Temps are not that bad, but they could be lower, and lower is definitely better. However please be aware that these models suffer from overheating and eventual complete failure. You need to update the BIOS to help negate this problem. Also after updating the BIOS you can also buy a can of compressed air and blow out the fans and vents to ensure proper airflow.

Go here and find your exact model; this will be printed on the bottom of the laptop: http://www8.hp.com/ca/en/support-drivers.html

Also install the NVIDIA chipset and graphics driver from the HP website, or possibly newer ones from NVIDIA themselves if the HP ones are dated or don't help: http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_vista_win7_64bit_15.49.html

Since you also had this laptop reloaded, did they reinstall the Vista service packs as well? You should be running Service Pack 2 for Vista. You can check this by going to the Control Panel and then to System.

Also, these laptops came with a 32 bit version of Windows Vista Home Premium, did you or they mistaken install the 64 bit version instead of the 32 bit version? The 64bit version requires more RAM to run as well as the 32 bit version and these laptops generally shipped from HP with 1GB or 2GB of RAM, how much RAM do you have?

Hi, I have a problem with Outlook Express & Internet Explorer acting erratically lately. When I try to scroll on the side bar arrow it moves real fast to the bottom and all buttons I try to click in the tool bar also are acting erratically in that sometimes I have to click two or three times (ex: clicking the delete button etc.) . It does the same thing while in Internet Explorer. When trying to scroll in that I am unable to scroll as it moves quickly to the bottom of the screen no matter how slow I try to go. I have smooth scrolling checked in the options box and this just started happening all of a sudden. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am not familiar with temperature systems in computers but If you feel that is hotter than before, then that could be the reason for slowing down(I guess you meant "choppy" for slow). Anyway if this is the reason, then not only IE, some other programs also has to slow down. Check that and if that is true, please move this to the Hardware section

Hello everyone,

My fiance just got her first Windows 10 laptop recently, and the behaviour of Explorer is driving her nuts. The navigation pane on the left will not scroll horizontally (neither with a horizontal scrollbar nor auto-scrolling as it did in previous versions of Windows), or at least we can't find the right option to enable either:

This is pretty unusable as it is, so I'm hoping that someone can suggest something. She will switch to an alternate file manager (we've seen recommendations for Classic Shell and xplorer2) if necessary, but would prefer to stick with the Windows 10 file explorer if possible.

Thanks to everyone!

Answer:How to get horiz scrolling in Navigation Pane in Win 10 Explorer

linuxgarou said:

Welcome to TenForums @linuxgarou

One suggestion would be to hover the mouse over the dividing line between the navigation pane and the list of files (it's the right-hand edge of the navigation pane's vertical scroll bar). When the pointer becomes a double-headed arrow you can click-and-drag to make the navigation pane wider.

I have mine set to about twice the width of the one in your screenshot.

Edit: and so apparently does Ztrucker in the following post.

Example: You have a folder open with pictures in it. The Explorer window for said window is in List view mode, and at least 2 rows are visible. The file you want to open is in the 2nd row. When you click the file, it automatically scrolls the list so that the file you selected is in the left-most row, rendering any double-click on the 2nd or subsequent rows ineffective. Instead of opening the file, it selects the file, immediately scrolls it's row back, selects the new file that has scrolled into that row in the same position and scrolls it back as well.

Is it possible to institute a small delay on the automatic scrolling to allow for double-clicking or disable the behavior entirely?

Sorry if this has been covered before, I couldn't find any relevant info through searching.

I have goggled and done al the thongs commonly posted out there with no change.
When viewing scrolled down a list of folders moving the folder I want up to a level where I want it on screen, then opening the folder to view the content inside, when I back out of this folder the lish has now scrolled the folder to the bottom of the screen. I want the scrolled position to be as I left it.

I have unchecked accent color and other various so called fixes seen on the Webb. I have a laptop running Win10 Home x64 and a Desktop running Win10 Pro x64 and they both do the same thing.

I would owe someone if they helped me fix it without Classic Shell. Have Registry Experience, Will Travel.

Thanks

Answer:Internet explorer screen picks up ad or video when scrolling...

Try adding techguy.org to your IE8 Compatibility View Websites List.

Or, you might need to Disable Compatibility View if it's set for all websites:

Untick the Display all sites in Compatibility View check box.

I am running Windows XP SP3. I recently, idly clicked on the MSN Explorer icon. One page into the set up process I decided I didn't want to continue but as there was no Cancel option I just closed the window. Almost immediately my IE8 shortcut icon changed to an MSN icon. Trying to open IE8 only resulted in a set up window for MSN Explorer and the same thing happened trying to open Outlook Express. I deleted the MSN shortcut and managed to open IE another way and then created a new shortcut icon.

The 'read mail' envelope icon in the toolbar of any IE window still tries to continue the MSN Explorer set up, so the only way I can access email is through the Outlook Express icon under the Start button. Today I trying to access online albums from within Picasa3 and all I could get was the MSN setup window. How can I get rid of this incredibly annoying software? I cannot see any listing for it in Add/Remove.

Answer:MSN Explorer - Unwanted, won't let go

It is in add/remove programs under windows components.

I must delete these every time or I contiuously get what sounds like TV commercials and pop up ads that show as Internet Explorer. All was going well as long as I went into task managed and deleted the two listings of iexplore.

Now one instance keeps coming back and I have to go and delete it.

Can anyone tell me what is causing this and how to fix it?

Microsoft Update recommended updating to IE8 from current version of IE7 and it also recommended a Service Pack2 update. After downloading the updates, I attempted to open IE8 and soon received an Data Execution Prevention message. Since I wasn't able to open IE, I did a system restore and upon rebooting I found that the IE version now available was completely changed. No toolbars, unable to download IE7 or IE8 from Microsoft site, unable to download any malware applications, right-click on mouse or keyboard doesn't work, unable to copy/paste, etc. The IE version is very generic looking with an icon, left/right arrows, address bar, google search bar; no other functions available like favorites, tools, page options, etc.

I've noticed a recent problem on both of my Sony Vaio machines running Windows XP. I have IE 6.0 installed on both machines and have downloaded all windows patches and driver updates for my PCs.

The problem involves scrolling text boxes, such as you would find on any web-based email service, such as Yahoo! Mail or Hotmail. The text box is the box that appears when you go to reply to an email. It is basically the place where you edit text to be sent in a reply email. When I try to scroll up, either page-by-page or single line, the text keeps jumping down to the bottom of the message. Scrolling down doesn't produce any problems.

Needless to say, this can be quite annoying. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Answer:Textbox scrolling problem in Internet Explorer for Win XP on Sony Vaio Machines

I have a Sony Vaio and have never experienced this problem. However, I did have a friend that did on his machine (not a vaio) and it was due to incorrect mouse drivers.

Are your drivers current?

I just recently purchased an Lenovo X200 Tablet and whenever I scroll down the page in Internet Explorer, I get intermittent freezing or stuttering. The stutter/pause happens for about 3-10 seconds and then resumes to scroll. It appears to happen mostly on pages such as Amazon.com or Ebay.com and despite having the webpage fully downloaded, it still occurs scrolling up and down the same page. I tried updating my wireless network drivers thinking it could be poor wireless internet reception but it still occurs; there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with my router or internet broadband as I tested it on another computer.  I don't know if it has any relationship to the "buzzing" or "whining" noise, Centrino whine that people have spoken of in the forums, that I also hear with my computer when it's extremely quiet. If anyone has experience or can advise what's going on, I'd appreciate it.

Answer:Intermittent Freezing and Stutter while scrolling webpage in Internet Explorer on X200T

I would try using a different browser first like firefox to make sure it isn't an issue with IE and not something else. I personally do not use IE as the default browser and have never experienced such issues in firefox with my X200 tablet. let us know the results.

I have a big problem with Ie6, if I type an addresss in with the form click here it redirects me to another site,(the same site all the time). But if I type click here it takes me to the site that I wantAny ideas on how to stop it doing this?

Answer:unwanted redirection with Internet explorer 6

I had a thing a while ago which installed pop-ups into IE6 every time I searched using MSN search from IE6. If you're confident using the registry you could probably look to see if there's any entries under the "search" or "address" for IE6 that look like they shouldn't be there or have addresses that are out of place. I fixed my problem eventually by installing the google registry fix to make google my default search from IE.

Whenever I boot up the machine, the following happens -1. A dialog box headed RUNDLL pops up saying that it can't find "programs/wild tangent/apps/CDA/cdaengine0400.dll".This is presumably because I've cleaned up wild tangent in a previous sweep, so it isn't there to load, but the registry is still looking for it. Although this is a minor problem, I'd still like to get rid of it....and then2. Without any prompting, an Internet Explorer page appears, with the address line click here, which immediately changes to another page with the address "you have been paid". If closed down right away, that's all that happens, but if the machine is unattended, several more pop-ups appear and (if closed)continue to re-appear every few minutes PLUS unwanted toolbars are installed. As well as at boot-up, this also seems to happen on a timed basis, I'd guess every 12 hours. This is very irritating and we don't even use explorer, we use Mozilla Firefox. Now, we've got Norton and I've followed instructions from majorgeeks.com on cleaning and sweeping the machine, I've got CWshredder, Adaware SE, Spy Bot, Spyware Blaster, CCleaner, McAfee Stinger, Kill2Me, etc and I've run them all. Without success. (System restore only works of course for the toolbar installations, etc., not for the general problem.)Any new suggestions? We're running XP and Explorer 6. Thank you in advance.

Both my wife and I have been experiencing this problem on our windows phones, and I am wondering if it is plaguing anybody else. I don't get any results when I search for it....
Right now, about 80% of the time when we got to search results, our even type in a web page address, seconds later the page is redirected to a site called play.traffpartners.com. This page never works, buy instead results in a "could not lost page" error. It is getting frustrating to say the least.
Has anyone else had this problem? Has anyone found a solution? It happens both over cellular and over Wi-Fi connections.

Answer:Internet explorer unwanted redirects

Set your phone to cellular, clear ie internet cache and you should see that you don't have the problem while using cellular data. The problem is probably within your own router. Your router has been hacked or is not properly configured. In any event, you should reset your router to factory defaults, see if the is new firmware available for your router and make sure you change the user/admin router configuration passwords.

I would like to clean up my file tree and remove programs that seem to keep coming back or are still showing up in the startup group/registry. I keep getting multiple folders called "documents" and I would like to know how to fix it and keep it simple. I admit I did make new documents folders and rename them. And stupidly installed Quickbooks in the documents folder. Also, I have downloaded a lot of crap and either the programs keep coming back or they won't install or keep appearing in the console. Also I cannot get rid of the Asian characters. I made a mess, I admit it!

Hello there and welcome to Bleeping Computer's security forum. My name is David, I will be helping you with your log today. It is a good idea to print off these instructions. Hello, just wondering if anyone could help resolving choppy scrolling in IE11. When I scroll using the touchpad on the laptop, the cursor pointer comes up with the little blue spinning wheel (hourglass back in the day) like the computer is processing something. The pages scrolls but it's very lazy and I have to swipe across the whole touchpad area to just make the page to move few rows. Same issue when ctrl+scroll is used to magnify the page, same choppiness.troubleshooting done:- When I use the vertical scroll bar the page scrolls just fine- installed two Other browsers, no issue there- disabled smooth scrolling, no change- tried all drivers available

go to here and download 'Hijack This!'.
First make a folder on your computer in my documents called Hijackthis and then Unzip it to that folder.
Then doubleclick the Hijackthis.exe.
Click the "Scan" button, when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.
Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log back here in a reply.
It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required,
so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

Download it, it will self extract to c:\.

Restart to safe mode.

How to start your computer in safe mode

Before you boot to safe mode you should copy these instructions to notepad and have them on the desktop.
In safe mode Navigate to:

C:\drpeper\Find backup and Delete Peper files.vbs

Doubleclick the....... Find backup and Delete Peper files.vbs file

*Note: If your Antivirus is running a scriptblocker, when you run the .vbs file, you will recieve an alert warning you that the script is running. "Allow" the script to run.

On the first prompt copy and paste:

IqzqA.exe

And hit ok.

On the second, paste:

I have run Hijackthis and I am nervous about Fixing the problems without really knowing what I am doing. The Hijack log highlights lots of R1's and makes reference to www.nkvd...

Any adivse on this would be gratefully received

Answer:Internet Explorer Hijack - Unwanted Search Toolbar

Hi Andy,

Generally, it is a good idea to start with the Cleanup Tutorial HERE:
READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan and Virus Removal

This will remove a lot of stuff that would otherwise clog a HJT log.

Please note the steps that you are able to complete and the ones that give you problems. Note that you need to be in Safe Mode with System Restore OFF (if you have it - you didn't give OS) and have the Viewing of Hidden Files ENABLED as per the instructions in the link. Make sure to do the Online Scans.

Post back and let us know how you fared. Also, send us a HijackThis Log. Make sure to follow the instructions below:

Note that your HijackThis should be up-to-date (v1.98.2) and MUST be extracted to its own safe folder ? C:\Program Files\HijackThis!

If you need a Fresh Download of HJT, get it HERE: HijackThis 1.98.2

Also note that, before you scan, you MUST close all running programs including your web browser, e-mail and items in the system tray.

Please save your HJT Log as a .txt File and attach it via the "Manage Attachments" tool in the Additional Options section when you post.

Somebody will take a look when they get a chance.

Best luck
PP

Dear sir,

The problem I have since 4 days is unwanted pop-up screens from adultfriendfinder (see attachments for the screen and the script message. At first I can click yes on the small script message and close the screen and at a certain point this doesn't do anything. also as a cause of that internet explorer stops working and has to be closed and will open after closing it but more and more screens keÍp popping up and explorer doesn't function normal anymore. I can not serve the web normal anymore or there's a pop-up, mainly adultfriendfinder. I have blocked the pop-up screens in my internet explorer but it doesn't stop these pop-ups though. I used the program -Cleanup- to get rid of the temporary internet files but also this doesn't seem to do that much anymore.
I have Norton antivrus installed on my computer but this program doesn't see any problem. I talked to a technical person there and they said I have one or several viruses on my computer and they can get rid of them for 99,95 Euro's. I told them no thanks. I already am registrered with them for years and they don't help when there's a problem.

Details about my system are as follows:
- Internet Explorer 8
- Windows Vista Family edition
- 32 bit

The Hijack file and the error screens are attached.

If you need more information please let me know if you require more details.

Thanks in advance for doing such a great job for us,

Jolanda

Each time try to open internet explorer the view and track download box appears.
Then it asks if i want to save a tiny file that i know nothing about.
It wont let me save it or open the drop down box
When I close it internet explorer is no longer there.
Any assistance would be much appreciated
