I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My Dell Inspiron (Windows 7, 64 bit) locks up while playing somewhat intense graphic games like Skyrim or Fallout 3 or Oblivion (why yes! I do like Bethesda Games).

While playing, and at random moments, the laptop will freeze/lock-up...the image remains, no response from keyboard or mouse, the sound continues to loop the last millisecond of sound to where it sounds like RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I'm then forced to restart manually. While it loads from the restart, it generally freezes before the Windows Logo has disappeared. One the second or third restart, it finally loads, but if I dare to play good graphics games again, RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR, you get the idea.

I've scoped all sorts of forums on this one and can't seem to find the answer.
Yes, I've updated the Chipset.
Yes, I've downloaded latest drivers from Radeon.
Yes, the fan is NOT blocked.
Yes, All temps are normal range (HDD around 47C, CPU's around 120C [EDIT: 120F], and GPU around 50C).
Yes, I've run Dell's diagnostics Software to no avail.
Yes, I've run the Bios Memory test to determine all is well.
Yes, I've run check disk with no errors.

Do I have something wrong with the inside? Blown capacitor or something? I'm not proficient with that sort of tinkering.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

I would suggest checking the memory modules first.

Try removing one of the modules and boot the laptop.

Hi, I have Dell N 5010 laptop, and I was using my laptop without any problem till last night. I turned off my laptop with proper shut-down. But when I tried to turn on my laptop today, it didn't get on. Then I removed the battery and pressed the power button for 1 min and inserted the battery, tried again to turn it on, but it didn't get on.
Later on I plugged it with the charger, adapter was on as green light was on in the adapter, but laptop was not indicating that it was plugged in as battery charging indication light was not on nor blinking. So kindly suggest me what I should do for this? What could be the problem.
Thanks and Regards,
Gur Swaroop.

Friends i have bought a Dell laptop about a month ago with windows 7 home basic 64 bit OS,320 GB hard disc and i3 processor. I want to install xp-home-32-bit as second OS.My problem is:
Where to get drivers for xp 32 bit. Searching on Dell site i found out they have drivers for windows 7 and vista 64 bits only for my model.
I am all ready for installation of xp except above issues. (i.e. i have all necessary softwares like nLite,EasyBCD,netframework etc.)
won't my win 7 64 bit drivers work on xp 32 bit ?
Can you tell me exactly which drivers are needed ? And where the make and version of each can be found on my laptop(Dell Inspiron 15R (N5010)) ?

Hi all, need help.
When I boot up my laptop it goes straight to windows error recovery page, we can choose start windows normally or launch startup repair. Whichever option we choose it brings us back to this screen. I have tried to run diagnostics and everything we've tested has seemed to pass. Any ideas or help it won't let us factory reset as we've tried doing that but all it take is to windows error recovery page.

Answer:Dell Insprion 15R N5010

Hopefully you have a set of recovery media (which you were prompted to make when you first turned the system on out of the box).  You'll need that -- if you don't have it,  what OS and version is on the drive?

Hi everyone, I have been having problems with my Dell Inspiron N5010 since yesterday. I was playing for an hour with my laptop cooler on but when I quit the game the temps were still high. My CPU stays at 65C-70C so does the PCH 70C-75C when doing nothing. The fan runs at full speed but it seems that it can't cool down. When I shut down the computer for 15 minutes it gets normal but after running for 2 or 3 hours it gets hot again . I cleaned the fan 3 weeks ago and it's been only 2 months since I bought the laptop. Here are my specs:
CPU - Intel Core i5 2.9Ghz
RAM - 2x2GB DDR III
Video Card - ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 1GB
Chipset - Intel Ironlake- M-IMC

All help would be appreciated

Answer:Dell Inspiron N5010 fan always on

Since it is only 2 months old, I would open a Chat with Dell Support.
It could be something defective, could be bad processor contact with the CPU cooler. We had one the sealant was crystalized it had gotten so hot.

Hello everyone!
I've bought an Inspiron 15R (N5010) back in November of 2010 from Holland (Quad core i7-740QM, Radeon 5650, Seagate 750gb 7200RPM, 4GB DDR3 1333Mhz). Now, two months later, I seem to be having some serious issues with it. It shuts down whilst playing video games (for now) and I suspect something is overheating: the CPU gets past 90-95 Celsius - monitored with SpeedFan!
Also... the heating vent and the palm rest (left side) get really really hot! Right from the start, I was thinking that the cooling possibilities are a bit overwhelmed by the specs, but hey, I didn't think it would become such of a problem! What's really strange is that it didn't act like this from the beginning... I thought it might be the accumulated dust, so I used a vacuum cleaner on the vents and air intakes at the bottom. The temps seem to have dropped a bit, but when I tried playing again, it nonetheless shut down again after a while (took a bit longer after the cleaning).
What happens exactly is that the screen goes totally black and after about 2 seconds, the system shuts down completely! Another weird thing is that, upon restart, Windows 7 doesn't report any error (no disc checks or anything) and the event viewer doesn't show anything relevant... I already tried the PC Checkup function in Dell's Support Center (3.0) and it passed every test. I ordered a cooling pad online to see if that fixes the problem but i'm already very disappointed, after havi... Read more

I have the same problem on a Dell Inspiron R15 N5010 I5 Radeon 5650 4GB DD3 . Had the first shutdown 2-3 months after purchasing . Cleaned the cooling fans externally , but nothing fixes the issue . Idle temperature 55-65 C . Playing temperature close to 95 , and above obviously because it shuts down at 105 C . Is there a manufacturing problem with the cooling fans ? Any suggestions for fixing the problem permanently ? I will buy a cooling pad but please PM me if that doesn't work at all .

My Name is Tyler and I have had my dell Inspiron N5010 for less than 6 months and it has been nothing but trouble. I have been getting Countless BSoDs since day one. I was watching a movie on my Laptop, when all of a sudden the screen went all scrambled (Kind of like the static on a TV, except finer and with colors) and the screen went a purple color.

I figured it was something like a bsod, so I just held the power button down to turn it off, then tried to restart it

Keyword, tried!

I pressed the power button like usual, and the light came on, but it start up or make any sounds at all, it just sat there for nearly 2 minutes then the lights went off...

Tried again a couple of times, but no change...

It's a Dell n5010 laptop, running Windows 7 64-bit home premium... About 2 years old.

Answer:Dell N5010 won't turn on

Hi lucasnd,
Thanks for posting.
Apologies that your N5010 won't turn on.  Were you unable to contact Tech Support for assistance?
I have a few questions,
does it not turn on at all even plugged in to the wall outlet?
Have you tried a different battery?
Is the power button light blinking in a particular pattern?
If you are unable to get it to come on, you can always remove the hard drive and put it in a hard drive enclosure to get the data from it.

I have installed iolo system mechanic in this laptop but this has slowed down my startup up to 1 min. Before it was very fast. An analyser says that this is caused by hdd an he suggest to replace. here are the WPT LOGS: http://www.mediafire.com/download/7xevd9bdcdq2nx0/bootPrep_BASE+CSWITCH_6.7z

iolo software is notorious for slowing pc's if you can logon your pc please download

1. http://www.iobit.com/advanceduninstaller.html this will do a powerful scan after uninstalling to remove all items of the programs you do not want

2. also try going to start and type in msconfig and open that and click on startup tab and try to disable it there to see if it helps and disable anything else in startup that you do not use, if you dnt know what an item is leave it and dnt mess around with the other tabs

3.better system cleaners are out there the most popular ones are ccleaner and privazer and they are both free but if your looking for an AIO type cleaner then advance system care 7 is pretty good

Hello,

My cousin has this laptop the Dell inspirion N5010

Windows 7 64 bit service pack 1

Core I5 2.53 GHZ

4 GB ram

anyways for some reason the WiFi only works for like 10 to 15 minutes and then it just like stops working and the computer needs to be restarted for it to work again. The thing is though that it still shows as connected with full bars and it says internet access and everything seems normal but when browsing the web it just stops so you are browsing fine and all of a sudden it stops and won't go to a page and just says connecting and looks like it's trying to go to the page but doesn't. The thing to is that it happens and both my house and over at hers. At first I thought it was maybe there Comcast Modem/router combo but then it still did it over here at my house. SO I am wondering if anyone has any ideas as to why everything seems normal but the internet just stops.

Thanks,

Any more info needed just ask and I'll try and get it.

edit: I decided to now plug in Ethernet to the laptop after the WiFi went down and it still doesn't work. it says connected but I still get nothing. I went to the status window and it shows ipv4 connectivity Internet and ipv6 connectivity no internet access Media state enabled Duration which just shows a running time and then speed which is 100.0 Mbps

I have a Dell Inspiron N5010. I have noticed that the fan was not working hence leading it to shut down automatically to prevent it from overheating and damaging the components. I have seen a few fans online that I could purchase. However, I am worried about their authenticity and life of the fan since it is not a Dell original fan.
Can I get a Dell fan from somewhere in india?

Hi,
I'm running win 7 and have downloaded all drivers and still need some help. The specs say that this model comes with AMD ATI Radeon HD 4330 on an intel core 3 (inc. Intel? HD graphics) and it has an HDMI port. The problem is that when I plug my HDV cannon camera HDMI to the Dell HDMI port and run either the camera software (zoombrowserex) or my video editing program (wavepad video), neither program can find my video camera to capture. I have gone into my prefs for the camera and made sure it is hdmi out but I have no idea why the Dell hdmi port is not finding the signal. A friend suggested the the Dell port is a video out ONLY, but I'm not so sure. Any suggestions?

thank in advance,
Rick

I have dell n5010 machine running 32 bit of windows 7....i couldn;t find supporting drivers at Dell wesbite as Dell provides drivers only for the 64 bit on its website....Can someone help me what can i do ...

Answer:Drivers for Dell N5010

All you need to do is get the drivers form the source. I just installed Windows 7 x64 Home Premium on one of these laptops last week. Windows 7 finds most of what you need, but the chipset drivers can be found at Intel.com and then you should know the rest of the hardware...and where to find them. Intel or Nvidia or ATI for graphics depending on how you configured the laptop.

Anytime you are installing an OS that isn't listed on Dell's site, just go to each part manufacturer's webpage to find the drivers you need. For example, if you have an Intel Wireless card, go to Intel.com and download the drivers for the model you have. People make this out to be a challenge, but it's actually very simple.

the spec is intel core i3 CPU  6 GB 3 GB HDD

Answer:Dell Inspiron N5010

Needs a first-generation Core CPU -- only these will work.  If the system has integrated video, you CANNOT use an i7 quad core (these have no GPU aboard).
The i5-480M CPU was shipped in this model and will work.  So was the i7-640M CPU.

I very stupidly shut down my computer during the "system updates... do not power off or unplug" and now Windows 7 is exceptionally slow to log in or do anything at all.

I system restored it to a point a week before the shutdown incident and I also then installed all the missing updates but it is only marginally better. It still takes about 30 - 60 minutes to log in.

Any ideas on what is wrong would be greatly appreciated thank you! :)

Answer:[SOLVED] Windows v. slow after shutting down during system updates

Hi ariana44,

Is it the same when you boot in to Safe Mode? Tap F8 whilst the computer is first starting up and then choose Safe Mode when prompted. Report back whether this improves it or not.

Was it Service Pack 1 that you were installing? You could also try uninstalling it, then rebooting and then try re-installing it.

Earlier today the laptop was overheating and i blew into the fan, then it stopped spinning. Now i can't access the computer because it shuts down when i turn it on. What do i do?

Answer:Dell inspiron 15R (N5010) fan problems

Hi Anzel,

How long does the laptop take before it shuts itself down?

If it takes a while, you may follow the steps listed below:
1. Please ensure that the vents of the system are clean and allow free circulation of air inside the system. You may use a can of compressed air to clean the vents. Before you clean the air vents of system:

- Turn off the System
- Unplug the AC Adapter
- Unplug all external peripherals
- Remove the Battery
- Check the vents on the computer to see if they are covered with dust and not allowing heat and air to pass through. See example in the image below:

-Use Compressed Air to blow the dust out of the vents
Note: Do not use your mouth to blow the Dust out of a Laptop. If using a can of compressed air use the can according to the directions on the side of the can as you can cause damage to the computer if used incorrectly

2. If the previous step does not resolve the issue, update the BIOS to latest version.
Note: Before flashing the BIOS please check the following: Battery should have 10% or greater charge; Adapter should be connected; No external devices should be connected; All other programs should be closed and documents saved

Link to download the latest BIOS for Inspiron N5010: Driver Details | Dell United States

HI,

I'm planning to upgrade my Dell Inspiron N5010 RAM from current 3GB(2+1) to 6 GB(2+4).
I heard that some Dell Inspiron Laptops require same RAM to be present in both slots so that the O.S can detect the installed RAM, else only one slot will be detected( ex: 4GB RAM (Usable 3GB)).
So, can I go ahead with having a 2GB RAM in one slot and 4GB RAM in another?
So, can you suggest me any best brand(verified by Dell) to purchase the RAM and also the recommended frequency it should be supporting?

Many thanks in advance!!!

Answer:RAM upgrade on Dell Inspiron N5010

Hi venkat_bollineni,
This system model supports a maximum of 8GB memory. Memory modules must be installed as a perfectly matched pair to take advantage of the dual-channel memory bus. If not a matched pair, the system's memory bus operates in a single-channel configuration. Basically, when both DIMM connectors are populated, the system has optimum dual-channel performance unless channels A and B have different amounts of memory.

My N5010 Will not power on with or without the battery installed. The power button blinks white every four seconds.  The AC adapter is working fine.  I have removed the battery, unplugged the AC adapter, and held down the power on switch for 30 seconds without success. I have removed and reinstalled components such as HDD, memory, etc. without success. I have installed a new DC Jack Board WXHDY and it still will not power on.
Can anyone suggest anything else to try?

Hi everyone

My sister's DELL N5010 has started bluescreening and atikmpag.sys is always mentioned on the memory dump screen.

The actions I have taken so far are:

Update BIOS from A10 to A15 (latest)

Full system reimage back to factory fresh install - BSODs continued.

Used AMD Uninstall Utility to remove the current driver, downloaded and installed following driver from Dell website:

AMD ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650/5470/4200/550v Graphics Driver
R272410.exe | Video|Release date 29 Jun 2010

BSODs still continue

Not sure what to do now; other drivers are available on the DELL page Product Support | Dell UK but out of those I reckon only the AMD one is appropriate. Not sure about the Intel HD Graphics Media Accelerator Driver.

I would like to try an older driver, but they're not available on the DELL website.

I'm attaching the DM Log.

Please tell me if I'm barking up the wrong tree, and let me know what to do next.

Many thanks in advance.

Answer:BSOD atikmpag.sys Dell N5010

Never rely on the display drivers from Dell, they are outdated and OEMs don't tend to provide driver updates for old systems. Install the generic AMD drivers. Try the latest 15.3 beta driver if the stable build doesn't fix the BSODs.

The Windows installation is also missing almost 5 years of critical updates including SP1 that addresses a lot of known issues, you should ensure that all required updates are installed after installing the driver update.

These were all caused by your video subsystem. Probably the driver, perhaps heat, or the card itself.

I would start with the driver since it is the most frequent thing to fail

When upgrading your graphic driver you MUST remove all traces of the current driver. In order to do that we recommend using Guru3D - Driver Sweeper

When it is removed then download and install the fresh copy.

Hello!

I own a Dell Inspiron N5010 with Intel Pentium Dual Core P6100 @ 2.0ghz , ATI Radeon Mobility HD 5650 1GB, 2+2GB RAM and I want to know if I can upgrade my processor, the  package is 989 rPGA socket.
Any answers, solutions would be appreciated.

Answer:Processor upgrade Dell N5010

Yes, to any of the mobile Core i first-generation CPUs.  The second-generation Core i CPUs (the ones with four-digit numbers) won't work.

Note that upgrading the CPU voids any remaining warranty.

2. Downloaded the latest driver from Dell support for ATI Raedon 5000 series graphics card and installed it.

My Dell N5010 laptop keeping shutting down after several minutes.  I've replaced the battery, and then  installed a new solid state drive thinking the hard drive was the problem. I started running diagnostics after installing the new hard drive, but the system shut down again after a few minutes of running.  Not sure what else to check, plus I'm unable to record any codes.

Answer:Dell Laptop N5010 Shuts Down

If the system is running abnormally hot, it can shut down -- if so, the three things to check:
1.  That the fan is running.
2. That there's no dust on the heatsink assembly
3.  If the system is running hot and 1. and 2. are OK, replace the thermal pads that sit between the GPU/CPU and heatsink - they do dry out over time and result in poor thermal transfer.
If none of these is the cause, chances are you've got a bad mainboard.

Answer:Dell n5010 power on but no display

Hi superguragaon1,Thanks for posting. In a system is old, there could be several reasons for no display.  First, does the computer show anything on an external monitor? If so, it's probably the LCD, if not, then it's probably the video card. Check those things out and post back.

I have read somewhere in the forums that my dell inspiron n5010 can support ddr3 12800 1600mh so I went ahead and purchased some ADATA ddr3 1600(11) agx8 so-dimm AD3S 1600W4G11-S

You can see the link I bought it from here:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151237358173?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

I bought 2 of these 4gb ram modules and installed them in my laptop. When I turn my laptop on it trys to start but shows some lines on the screen and sometime like an old tv running analogue signal and showing snow. It then turns off on its own after about half to one minute.

When I go to the bios I can see that the system has recognized 8gb of ram but it says speed 1066mh.
I don't know what the issue is so if anybody knows or has a suggestion to fix this please reply to this post.

Answer:Dell Inspiron N5010 Ram compatibility issue

RAM speed is CPU-dependent - if you have an i5 or lower CPU, 1066 MHz is the fastest you'll get even with faster memory installed.
Try the modules one at a time in each socket - you may have a bad module or a bad memory socket.

Re-install windows 7 and see how it works. If it works well, then probably some pre-installed programs are killing your PCYou can also try disabling start-up programs:1. go to Start>>RUN2. type msconfig3. select Startup tab4. uncheck all programsthen reboot and check how it works

Hello ,

I have my dell for 1 month and i haven't got any problems till yesterday when I decided to transfer a song from the Laptop to my cell phone via bluetooth. The transfer started and everything was going well , when suddenly it stopped and a message appeared that says There is a problem with your driver , get the latest driver ... or something like that Then I downloaded the driver from dell.com and started installation . Everything was ok until the installer started deleting old files and it deleted all the c:// drive ,but that doesn't matter because after some check that windows made,it recovered most of the information. And after that I decided not to touch anything else and leave the bluetooth not working. But today i decided that I have to fix it and downloaded the driver and the BT software again. But today i first uninstalled the the old driver and software , and then installed the new ones . But my BT doesn't work . It is discoverable from my phone and i can turn it on and off , but when press Show BT Devices in the tray icon it opens a window and start browsing and can't find any devices ( I tried with my phone and a BT handsfree ) And the Nokia Ovi Suite can't find the phone.

ps Excuse me if there are any mistakes , I'm not a native speaker

Do you know who made the bluetooth device? it's not actually made by HP, if you can find the manufacturer it's practically guaranteed they will have a more current driver available.

Hello, I have an inspiron N5010 laptop (out of warranty), which was working fine all these years.
Unfortunately, yesterday when I tried to turn it on, the system initiated normaly but the screen remained blank and then it started beeping 8 times every 3-5 seconds. According to what I found online, 8 beeps indicate an LCD failure. When I tried to connect it to a TV monitor via HDMI cable nothing came up, the monitor detected the connected device but it had no signal. Since the screen is blank, I cannot run the diagnostics neither enter the BIOS setup. In case of an LCD failure I could replace it by myself, but I cannot be sure if that is the problem. Could you please tell me what can I do to distinguish if it is LCD or GPU failure?I have to mention that the laptop was suffering from overheating, hence I used a cooler to reduce the temperature. Thanks

Answer:dell inspiron r15 n5010 - memory upgrade

Try each module by itself (one at a time) until you isolate the b ad module or the bad socket - either one of the two modules is bad, or one of the two sockets is.  If it's the module that's bad, send it back for replacement.
If it's the socket that's bad, you'll need to decide whether it's worth putting a major repair such as this into a system that's as old as this one is.  if so, replace the mainboard.

Hello everyone
i bought a new laptop two days ago, a Dell Inspiron 15R
and i'm happy with its performance

main specs:
CPU Core i7 Q740 1.73GHz
Ram 4GB DDR3
GPU ATI HD Radeon Mobility 5470 1GB (Up to 2737)

but i'm worried coz i noticed that it warms once i start it up
then heats so much when running a game (Homefront)
here's the temps (by SpeedFan):

At normal situation
(when i don't open or use anything! just the firefox and SpeedFan):-

And these temps when i only run homefront game on the main menu!!!
before i even play it.
- Are these even normal??
- Does this affected something in my laptop? because if so, i'll return it and take a new one xD
- What do u suggest?

what the hell's wrong with dell!? everyone advised me to buy a dell laptop, and unfortunately i faced a problem in the second day! i hope everything's normal, i really need ur help and info, i don't care about games i just wanted to test its ability on games that's all, but i'm thinking about heat when working with other things like editing hd videos, graphic designs etc..

thanks,.

Answer:Dell Inspiron 15R (N5010) Heat Problem..Help Please!

My desktop is around 40 degrees when stressed, so I was shocked originally by those temperatures. I did some digging, and laptop temperatures are typically a lot higher, around 70 degrees when stressed
Considering that this is an i7 as well, I would consider this a fairly normal temperature, just make sure you aren't obstructing any ventilation grills.

Hi All,
A friend I work with asked me to check out this laptop that belongs to her daughter. She said the touchpad wasn't functioning properly, previously her older daughter had been using this laptop. This laptop is currently running windows 7 home premium 64-bit, w/service pack 1 edition. The older daughter has one user account setup on this machine..she is listed as the administrator. The second daughter has her own account and is listed as a standard account. The first thing I did upon checking out the the issue with this machine is update the Synaptics Touchpad software to the latest version available for this machine (V7.2). What is really strange to me is the fact that the touchpad seems to function correctly on the administrator account, but when I switch to the other user account (standard user) it doesn't function correctly like it does on the administrator account. To be honest..I changed the standard user account to a administrator account temporarily so I could at least have access to run some test on the system..( namely, sfc /scannow ). After doing so I was informed no problems were found, I can plug in a usb mouse to a usb port on the machine and it seems to function correctly. I'm at the point now I don't know what to do as I've never ran into this issue before. That's why I thought I'd see if anyone else has had this issue before.
Thanks,
David

Seven beeps is a mainboard  or CPU failure - more likely the board than the CPU.  Given the cost of a board and age of the system, the best course of action is to shop for a replacement system.
If you must repair this system, the board you need is this one if you have Intel graphics
www.parts-people.com/index.php
and this one if you have ATI/AMD video:

Try to get into task manager or do anything else and they will pop up only after the computer un-locks. I have run spyware and other programs to see what might be causing it to no avail. Hi,
I have Dell Inspiron N5010 with GPU overheating issue, fan always working at highest speed but GPU temperature did not decrease bellow 67C and computer shut down when playing games.
Already replaced CPU thermal paste and CPU temperature dropped from 88C to 52C but GPU temperature did not drop so I want to replace thermal pad because it looks like that thermal pad damaged and there is a gap between GPU and thermal pad which attached to heat sink.
online sellers have different thermal pads thickness and they range from 0.5 mm, 1 mm, 1.5mm, 2mm to 2.5mm
Form what I understood if thermal pad too thick it wont help to reduce GPU temperature so please can you advice me which thermal pad should I use for Dell inspiron n5010, mother board type CN-052F31, dg15 mb 48.4hh01.011 bios, AIT HD 1GB GPU.
Thank you very much

Hi
I have Dell n5010, I was not using it for 1 year and some insects were gone into it. when I powered on it LCD was jerky and half of LCD was not clear. I disassembled everything and cleaned it all. still problem was there.
Next I re-hot the AMD 1GB graphic chip. That worked well. But problem came again in a day. Again I re-hot and it works. but seems like it is not permanent solution.
Now What I want is to remove VGA chip. will laptop work with intel graphics if I remove VGA chip?
are there any way to disable it in hardware?

Answer:DELL N5010 Graphic chip Remove

There is no way to revert the system to integrated video short of replacing the mainboard with the one having only Intel video -- and while you could have a shop replace just the video chip (it requires specialized equipment to have this done), it's likely to cost as much or more than replacing the system board.
The boards with integrated video go for about $100;  you'll need a new heatsink to go with the board (another $20 or so);  this is far cheaper than a replacement of the chip.

Hi,
I have 2.5 years old Dell Inspiron 15r n5010 with Intel Core i3 processor (M370 @2.4 GHz) and 3gb RAM. Right now I have Windows 7 (64 bit) installed on my machine.
I have two questions:
1. Can I install Windows 8.1 (64bit) on my machine?
2. There is no driver available for Windows 8 for this series of laptop on Dell's site. In that case, can I use Video, Wireless LAN, Bluetooth drivers of Windows 7 (64 bit) for Windows 8.1 (64 bit)?

P.S.: Dell provide drivers for Windows 8 for Inspiron 15r n5110 series of laptop. Can I use n5110 series of drivers on my n5010 series of laptop?

Thanks

A client brought me his laptop (dell Inspiron N5010) and said it wouldn't connect to the internet, i tried wireless (Broadcom DW1501) and ethernet (Realtek PCIe FE) and niether work, i then booted Linux Ubuntu 11.04 and the broadcom adapter connects fine, no problems, so i think it might be a driver problem, but i can't connect the computer to the internet so i can't update the driver, my client also said that he had a virus but fixed that, should i try a system restore?

Hey guys, person just brought this laptop to me running win7, claiming his wife says it freezes when online and a popup appears, I am waiting for his wife to call me to explain further as I am not seeing any of those issues, the net is working fine and no popup appears anytime, I can navigate around his system fine, laptop works fast and normal. What I am noticing is that it will not shut down using the start tab, also won't restart, it will only hibernate so only a hard shutdown is working. Also pressing ctrl+alt+delete is not bringing up the task manager, any ideas please?

Answer:Dell Inspiron N5010 shutdown issue

Sometimes malware will keep Task Manager from opening using Ctrl+Alt+Del. Go to c:\windows\system32 and copy taskmgr.exe to the desktop. Rename taskmgr.exe to something else like fix.exe and double click it. If Task Manager opens then the computer may be infected.

Are you talking about Hibernate or Sleep. Personally I would disable Hibernate.

The laptop was bought for my son at Uni, hes finished and bought himself a different laptop. He gave the laptop to his Mum. I want to give a new fresh machine so I fut the Laptop back to its factory settings.
Having a new laptop again and the opportunity to upgrade to Windows 10, I am concerned that the fail safe option Dell had with windows 7 will be removed by Windows 10.
Is this what will happen and if I need to reset back to Factory settings can I still do that once windows 10 is installed?
Will it still be a dell reinstall or does it now become a windows thing.
Helpful replied most welcome

Thanks Steve

I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 with an AMD Graphics card and it has the common problem of a broken DC jack. Works sometimes and sometimes it doesnt. Where can I find out the part number for the power board without having to open up the laptop as I dont have to hand? I have checked on ebay for replacements and there seems to be more than one option with part numbers. Also do Dell still sell these spare parts? The other option would be to desolder and solder on a new power port to the board Thanks in advanced

Hi edwmike,
Thanks for posting.
Apologies that your system is not working as you expected, but the n5010 is not supported by Dell running Windows 10.  The drivers will not be available, however you can try the Windows 7 or Windows Vista drivers may work, or you can see if the wifi card manufacturer may have released a driver for Windows 10.

Hi there,
My Dell Inspiron laptop had an issues the other day which might to get a blue screen of death and then crash. I since tried to turn the laptop back on however, it was getting 8 beeps and staying on a black screen. Sometime it would boot and login before the black screen would appear. Usually, 8 beeps would mean the display has gone however, after further testing and research i feel that the motherboard needs replacing. I am therefore looking to replace the motherboard however, I'm not sure which one to get. The part number for the one I have now is: 0VX53T but I am unable to find this anywhere. I've seen one on eBay (part number: Y6Y56) - would this be compatible? Here is the link to the one I've seen:

Thanks,
Priy

I have dell 15R (N5010) and have problem with audio drivers. When i upgrade to Windows 10 my audio drivers doesn't work and no have sound. I spoke with Microsof community, he send me to dell... It's rly funny because dell leave users of older laptops because they no have profits for that. The warranty is over so bye :) Someone can help me?

Answer:Dell inspiron 15R n5010 no sound, Windows 10

Warning to anyone reading this thread:
Make sure you know your model name before installing a driver!
The subject of this thread is "Dell inspiron 15R n5010 no sound, Windows 10". The problem is that there is no model with that exact name. There is an Inspiron 15 N5010, and an Inspiron 15R N5110.
They are different models and use different drivers. In other words, the audio driver for the N5010 is not meant for the N5110, and vice versa.
To complicate matters, somebody named aimeehuang posted in this thread and put in a link named "dell 15r n5010 drivers download". But if you click on the link it goes to a page for Inspiron 15R N5110.The person named "aimeehuang" is not a regular on this discussion board and probably got the model names confused.
Check your model name. If you have an Inspiron 15 N5010, use the IDT R280657 audio driver. It is meant for Win7, so install it into Win10 using compatibility mode (instructions below).
If you have an Inspiron 15R N5110, use the IDT 6.10.0.6421 audio driver. It is meant for Windows 8. It might install without a problem into Win10, but if there is a problem, install it using compatibility mode (instructions below).
1. Download and save the audio driver to your desktop or any convenient location on the hard drive..2. Double click on the new folder to extract (unzip) the driver files.3. The extractor wizard will create a new folder for the driver files. It will be at "c:\dell\drivers\xxxxxx". Write... Read more

Hi all
I need to change my OS from 64bit to 32bit, but all my drivers are for 64bit OS (win 7) so where can i find 32-bit drivers for my n5010 (15R) online and on Dell official website?

p.s : i searched dell.com website and seems they only support 64 bit OS (vista/7) so how on earth should i find 32 bit drivers compatible with my laptop hardware?

Thanks for Your time

Answer:Where can i download 32-bit drivers for my Dell Inspiron n5010?

First of all, you will have to perform a clean install of the OS if you want go to a 32bit version of Windows 7.. That being said, Windows should install the necessary drivers.

Hi everyone,
First of all, please excuse my English ;)
Someone gave me his former laptop N5010, the HDD was broken. I spent some money to buy a SSD and to upgrade the RAM, everything was working fine, and I don't know why I tried to update the BIOS...
I downloaded the A15 version on the Dell website, started the EXE file, and while updating from A4 to A15, the screen went black. I waited for a long moment and decided to remove the battery.
As a result, now the laptop is not working anymore.Black screen with beep while "booting".
I followed many "tricks" to recover the bios, they were all marked as solved for everyone but me, this one for exemple : http://bit.ly/2cdODDc
I extracted a rom file from the EXE bios update with Windows CMD prompt C:\BIOS.EXE /writeromfile , with Phoenix Tool I created a bootable USB, put the BIOS.ROM (renamed BIOS.WPH) on the flash drive, removed the battery, plugged the flash drive, hold the end button while plugging the AC cord ... But nothing interesting happened ...
I tried this solution from Dell's community : http://dell.to/2bRo4me
Still not working...
So, if you have any ideas, it will really help me.
Thanks,
Vincent,

I have a Dell N5010 laptop that is about 5 years old and has Intel HD Graphics. It is running Windows 7 Home Premium. The highest resolution it will display on the laptop screen is 1366x768. I would like to purchase a monitor so I can use the laptop like a desktop.

My question: is there anyway to tell what the max resolution my laptop will push to a HD monitor? I don't want to spend extra getting a 1080p monitor if my laptop is not capable of reaching that resolution. Also, if I did get a 1080p monitor and the laptop cannot push that resolution, will the monitor still be usable? As in, will the screen display correctly, just at a lower resolution, but with a correct display ratio?

I am a computer novice so I greatly appreciate any comments. Thank you very much.

Answer:How to tell max resolution Dell N5010 laptop will push to monitor?

The resolution your laptop runs at now is not far off 1080p anyway, if you have a 1080p TV, just use the HDMI connector on the laptop and see if it works on your TV, if it does then you know for sure then that it will support 1080p. But just to give you some comparison, My processor is slower than yours, my RAM is the same as yours and my computer has dual 1080p screens attached to it.

I think you'll be fine.

Hello my Dell Inspiron's GPU is failing, resulting in digital vertical stripes on screen and freezing. This is the second time it happens. I resolved it for a few months with a simple baking. However. I wouldn't like to repeat this many times and I am looking to buy a new motherboard. However I don't find anything on the internet about 0YXXJJ. I would like to get the same one. If not, please advice which one should I buy? I have Dell Inspiron n5010 currently running Intel Core i5 480M @ 2.67GHz, Arrandale 32nm Technology
Current Motherboard spec:
Manufacturer Dell Inc.Model 0YXXJJ (CPU 1)Version A10Chipset Vendor IntelChipset Model Havendale/Clarkdale Host BridgeChipset Revision 18Southbridge Vendor IntelSouthbridge Model HM57Southbridge Revision 06 BIOS Brand Dell Inc. Version A10 Date 11/17/2010 PCI Data Slot PCI-E Slot Type PCI-E Slot Usage In Use Data lanes x16 Slot Designation J6B2 Characteristics 3.3V, Shared, PME Slot Number 0 Slot PCI-E Slot Type PCI-E Slot Usage In Use Data lanes x1 Slot Designation J6B1 Characteristics 3.3V, Shared, PME Slot Number 1

Answer:How can I find Dell Inspiron n5010 motherboard replacement?

YXXJJ is the plastic chassis, not the board.  In all honesty, you'd likely be better off replacing the system than repairing this one - it's too old.
If you want to replace the board,  this one should be a drop-in for yours

Having problems such as frequent mouse disconnections (a wired one) and frozen sessions I decided to look if there was any update to my model's BIOS and indeed there was one.I downloaded the .exe from Dell.com, then run and followed the instructions. Suddenly, while the program was deleting old BIOS, the screen went black and the computer showed it was still on. I left it 5-6 hours at that state, but nothing happened. I pressed the button once, twice, hold it for a while, but nothing, it was still on. Later I decided to unplug it from power, and when the battery died, I turned it on again. However, nothing happens and there is a whistle warning me that there is no BIOS (I guess).
What can I do? Is it possible to flash a BIOS again, or should I buy a new motherboard (or system board)?A guy at a random service spot told me it is possible to flash BIOS again without buying a new motherboard, but I am not sure about this.

Answer:Bios Update Bricked my Dell Inspiron N5010

BTW: Have you read this, which is specifically about the N5010:
www.linkedin.com/.../solved-recover-dell-inspiron-laptop-corrupted-bios-how-roland-ihasz
I noticed those instructions don't tell you to reinstall the motherboard battery, but you should do that at the end, assuming the method solves the problem.
If you want to try this, do it after you try clearing BIOS by pulling the motherboard battery, as I outlined above.
And you follow that other guy's method to re-flash BIOS entirely at your own risk!

I noticed this sort of problem while my Dell N5010 notebook still had the original Windows 7, but I didn't give it much thought. Later, when I upgraded to Windows 8, I noticed that again and took a picture while 8 was being installed. And a few days ago I took another one just to make it sure.

Look at the pictures and you'll see that the background shows a pattern that looks like a scratched texture, black background with red crayon or something.

Thing is, that appears while the system is booting and stays there even when I set my desktop background to black as a solid color.

What can I do to make that background pattern go away? TIA.

PS: Sorry I asked this here first, but I just can't stand the Dell support...

Answer:Dell N5010 notebook background color problem

I would suspect either a problem with the video hardware or the display itself.

There is a Dell community users forum, with "users helping users" just like this forum. That is a good place to start. I used to work that forum, for 10 years, until I got rid of the Dell PC's I had.
