Have tried to resolve issue with Canon powershot S50 connected by USB no longer functioning with W7.
On occasions the only response is the pop up message driver device failed to install.
The camer is recognised under " Device and Printers" When I trouble shoot response is to visit manufacturers site and download driver - not required under Windows compatibility listing.
Have gone to Device Manager and removed all reference to Canon Camera under Portable devices but get same result. Have had a Microsoft IT tech look at the computer but he is at a loss.

Same problem has occured on another computer running W7 Home edition.
Any help would be appreciated. Program worked when W7 first installed.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

OS: Windows Vista Buisness Edition
Device: Zen Vision M

Hi guys, I've had this Zen for almost a year now, it docks jst fine with my win 2000 rig, however it fails to work with my vista laptop.

I plug in the Zen, the "installing device driver" icon comes up in the sys tray, after a few moments it says "driver install failed."

It recognizes it as a MTP device when it is loading.

The zen screen shows it as "docked."

I have a Yiynova tablet monitor and its been working fine for about a month. I recently tried to download the beta version of a NVIDIA GeForce update (bad idea) and had to reinstall a previous version. After that, things started to go south for my tablet.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the tablet driver, and tried to plug it in a different USB port and it came up with the same message.

Is there a step that I'm missing?

I have dual screen setup, and that's working fine, but the driver that senses the pen just isn't installing, even though I installed the driver program.

I appreciate any ideas on how to fix this.

Answer:Yiynova tablet monitor "device driver failed to install"

The problem wasn't solved, but I believed I narrowed down the problem. The driver doesn't seem to fully install.

I am seeing several of these Warnings in the Event Viewer, Windows System logs. These are Event ID 219, Source Kernel-PnP.

That said, I am not experiencing any crashes, freezes, BSODs, and everything on my PC seems to be functional. So perhaps I can safely ignore these warnings, but I prefer to get to the bottom of something in case it will lead to problems in the future.

I have done some online research on this event, and none of the suggested fixes seem applicable to me. I have been vigilant in keeping all drivers on my machine up to date. I've checked, and there don't seem to be any newer drivers available for any of my hardware. I also have the Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework service set to "automatic" startup.

The details of this event are below.

Any suggested action to remedy my problem? Thanks!

Answer:The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device ROOT\WPD\0000?

Go to Start/Search and type devmgmt.msc, right click the devmgmt results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Device Manager, are there any devices with yellow flags? If so, these devices need drivers installed. Usually your video card driver.

Hi there!
I'm in a desperate need of help.
This is the situation (sorry for my bad English as always...).
Yesterday I left my PC running with a download in progress through MiPony.I told the program MiPony (for the first time) to shut down the PC at the end of the download.Until then the PC had no problem. Before going to bed I checked the PC and I saw that it was offThis morning I turned on the PC and I glimpsed a sign that it was starting a scan (the only letter I saw was I:\) but I could not stop it.The PC is turned on regularly. Only half an hour later I found out that an entire 3TB HDD in 4 partitions had disappearedI did some search and found this error: The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device ROOT\PARAGONBLOCKDEVICE\0000.I tried to reboot but same situation (no scan and normal situation) but NO drive.I checked the event log (attached) and I see the problem started after 4 different event regarding my network connection (It's a week that I have to reset the modem \ router several times a day)

I tried to update my older Radeon ATI 5450 GPU via windows update...

I received the message from windows update, and showed it failed update with the 0x800706be

However when I go to device manager and check the details of the installed driver it clearly shows the new updated version? So I wonder which is correct the device manager showing the new version of the driver or windows update?

Answer:Failed Update 0x800706be driver...but device mgr shows updated driver?

You can identify the problem using Device Manager, which you can access by:
Opening the Control Panel Window
Selecting and double-clicking System
Clicking Device Manager
In Device Manager check if there is an exclamation point, a yellow triangle, or a question mark against your Dell device. If there is, there is a problem with your Dell device.

This has been a problem for over a year now. 140+ identical PCs running identical images, with identical keyboards. Some have the problem, some do not, and it's incredibly unpredictable.

PCs are HP Compaq Elite 8300 SFF running Windows 7 x64 Professional.

People will be working at their PC, hear the USB disconnect sound, and their keyboard will become unusable for 30+ seconds.

Hi,

Since the 11/18/2012 event viewer (Event ID 219, Task Category 212) has been posting a warning:

The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device WpdBusEnumRoot\UMB\2&37c186b&0&STORAGE#VOLUME#_??_USBSTOR#DISK&VEN (followed by name of USB device)

It only occurs on start up if I have a USB memory device plugged into a USB port. The USB memory device functions perfectly and the error never occurs when I plug in and out a memory device after boot up.

The error only occurs for memory devices like memory sticks, external USB hard drive does not cause this error.

Checking back to around the 11/18/2012 I see nothing that I have changed/installed that might indicate something that has caused this. No other Windows 7 failures or issues.

Booting a second hard drive with windows 7 on the same system (I have this second installation for testing faults etc), the issue does NOT occur.

From checking forums and searching I have found a few others with this issue and a few articles on its cause

WUDFRd failed to load for the device

Event ID 219 is logged after you install Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2

I was just curious as to why it would suddenly start occurring after a particular date when as far as I can tell I have not made any changes to anything around this date.

Also I wondered if there was a fix to stop this, other than removing a memory stick before boot up!

Any thoughts?

Answer:The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device... error

I just started getting this exact same error message logged in Event Viewer when I plug a USB stick into a USB port. It happens with two different sticks from two different manufactures, but it does not happen every time I plug them in. It seems that it may mostly happen the first time I plug a stick in after I have booted up my PC.

Have you been able to find a solution to get these error codes to stop logging?

My PC started BSOD-ing a few days ago and now does it every few hours.

It starts with this error:

Been searching for days to find a solution for this problem (including fresh installs of Windows 10 etc), and today accidentally found it ... for my Asus Maximus V111 Formula at least, but it may also work on other motherboards

In BIOS, ensure that the XHCI Hand-Off is set to ENABLED (default is disabled)

I changed this, and now I can boot the system with USB devices inserted, and not get any Kernal-PnP warnings

At Windows 10 startup this Warning appears in my Event Log as Event ID: 219.

The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device SWD\WPDBUSENUM\{a1c931b2-3b00-11e5-9c14-806e6f6e6963}#0000000008100000.

I know why this happens. The device in the message is an internal SATA AHCI hard drive. All AHCI drives, even internal ones, are considered removal or hot swapable. It even causes the safely remove icon to appear sort of like it was a USB drive. It happened on Windows 8.x. Don't remember if it happened on Windows 7. I can't make any changes in my BIOS to make it not hot swapable as there is no option for this drive.

The fix to get rid of the message in W8 was to modify the Service 'Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework' Changing the Startup type from Manual to Automatic fixed the problem. However, on Windows 10 this method does not work.

I can't disable the Service as it's needed for other devices. Just wondering if anyone found a nice clean way to get rid of the warning message like in W8?

Answer:The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device .......

I have the same issue. I have upgraded from Win 7 home, had some issues so I did a clean install of Win 10 home, and I also tried changing the Windows Driver Foundation - User Mode Driver Framework from manual to auto and same as you it did not work. And, Yes, I have downloaded and installed all of the latest driver/firmware from my manufacturer for all my hardware but still have this issue.

Full event error: The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device {C5A047D8-CB5B-40E9-B9E3-316AB06B5A18}\WirelessKeyboardFilter`

Driver environment:
Windows 10 x64 desktop
I have a wireless Microsoft mouse
I do not have a Microsoft wireless keyboard
I have the associated transceiver that should work for both (if installed)

This problem started when my Microsoft wireless mouse driver was updated to version 1.0.102.0 (dated 3/16/2016).
This driver update also appears to be responsible for a few other device errors as well:

I believe this new driver assumes you have a wireless keyboard (without checking) and just tries to load a driver for it.

My temporary fix is/was to rollback the driver to the previous Microsoft version 10.0.10586.0 (dated 6/21/2006):

Anyone else run across this condition or have a known solution using the latest driver?

Thanks,

aardvark

I have this computer what for some reasons wont install USB Smartcard readers.
Its Win7 64.
I have tried different smartcards but they wont help, also i tried to install drives manually but still wont work. I uninstalled and installed drivers many times.

Also i tried, but didnt work:
Change the 'Windows Driver Foundation - User-Mode Driver Framework' from 'Manual' to 'Automatic'.

Also the error from events.
http://i.imgur.com/hP7Mu3L.jpg

I found something like this.
https://svn.eesti.ee/projektid/idkaa...r/atrfiltr.inx

Should i try it or would it be easier to just format the computer. Its a work pc and it wont take long time, there isnt that much stuff on it.

Answer:The driver \Driver\atrfiltr failed to load for the device...

Update Chipset and USB controller Driver.
It would be helpful if you can send us a screenshot of Device Manage while Card reader is connected.

Hi,

I'm been having issues a looong time with different sorts of BSOD's but I've been able to cook it down to this last one after replacing both graphics card and Logitech headset.

Latest error which occuring at least once per day:

Thanks,

aardvark

I have the same issue. I have upgraded from Win 7 home, had some issues so I did a clean install of Win 10 home, and I also tried changing the Windows Driver Foundation - User Mode Driver Framework from manual to auto and same as you it did not work. And, Yes, I have downloaded and installed all of the latest driver/firmware from my manufacturer for all my hardware but still have this issue.

Answer:The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device .......

Disabling hard disk hibernation solved the problem for me.

Just go to Power options -> Advanced Settings -> Hard Disk -> Turn off hard disk after -> Never

Hope it helps

Windows says device driver installation failed for hp laserjet 1012. This despite printer working correctly. Every time on reboot I get this message. How do I stop windows from trying to install driver for a working device???

Answer:Windows says device driver installation failed

You have to reinstall your printer drivers or you're probably going to continue to get the error. If you are unsure how to go about updating your device drivers for the printer, I would suggest you start here:

Windows 8.1 Pro x64 - please find the complete system log warning details below and a (related or not?) disk controller error below.  Motherboard is an ASRock B75 Pro 3 with an Intel B75 Chipset.
I keep getting these warnings.  I get them for all my Windows Portable Devices (disk drives) on boot up.  Here are my disks:
Disk 0 on internal SATA 3 connector off an

Disk 1 on internal SATA 3 connector off the B75 chipset on motherboard (internal drive, not enumerated as removable - gives no warnings or errors - Seagate ST100DM003-1CH162 C: system drive (has Windows 8.1 OS on it)

Hi,
I have recently bought Samsung galaxy S5 device. When I tried to connect it to my computer I nothing happend (what should have happen is that it will pop up the "What do you want to do? Go to folder/..." menu).
So I tried another usb socket. still the same problem. I have Ubunto install as a sperate OS on my computer, and there everything is working fine - so the problem is not in the cable/USB on my computer.

I went to Device manager and under "Portable devices" I see the "SAMSUNG Mobile MTP Device" icon with a yellow mark. I open it and I see "this device is not working properly because windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (code 31)". I also have "SAMSUNG Mobile USB Modem" under modem in device manager (but it says that this device is working properly).
I tried to remove the "SAMSUNG Mobile MTP Device" and double click it and choose "update driver"->"search online". It found the driver but was unable to install it (got a "access deined" screen).

**This is not a problem of registry "UpperFilter"/"LowerFilter" problem. I saw it online while I was google a soultion and this is not my case***

I also tried to install the driver by installing "samsung KIES". It didn't help.

"The installation failed because a function driver was not specified for this device instance"
I received this message while installing a USB driver. I have an 80GB External USB 2.0 hard drive attached that was working great a few days ago. I logged on one day to find this device "unrecognized". When I checked the device manager, it said that the driver was missing (?!). I searched for the driver on the MS website, and the device manager seemed to find a suitable one, but upon install I got the message above.

I found the old driver on my system which seemed odd to me, deleted it, tried to reinstall and received the same message.

I understand that USB 2.0 is backwards compatible, plus it was working previously, so it seems strange that it suddenly died.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

For the past couple of days i have been having a problem where my computer just shuts down on its own and then turns back on again. It mostly happens when im launching or playing a game but a couple of times i was just on the desktop and it restarted. I have checked the event logs and it keeps saying this:

The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device SWD\SensorsAndLocationEnum\LPSensorSWDevice.

I have searched all over the internet for the past couple of days and have found multiple answers (all of which didn't work). Some say its the psu and others say its the gpu. I personally think it was the windows update that i did three days ago because that was the day it started but i have yet to see anything online about a windows update causing this. I have already updated the graphics drivers and chipset drivers but it didn't change anything. Can someone just tell me whats going on because is just built this pc about 6 months ago and nothing like this has ever happened.

I have just started having USB install problems.

I have Windows XP SP2 and its updates.

This is what happens:

1 - PC recognises USB hardware plugged in (even something that was previously successfully installed)
2 - PC Wizard searches for the driver
3 - Wizard finds it and installs
4 - But then it says it cannot install this hardware, "system cannot find the file specified"!
5 - I cancel and it goes into a loop back to point 1

Sometimes I can cancel out of the loop and sometimes I can't. If I can cancel, then the device seems to work for what I try. These are devices that were previously installed and working. Devices appear to work, but now each time I connect a device (eg, my Canon i865 printer), it asks me to install the driver again.

I did not have this problem before most recent XP updates, but not sure if it's linked.

Any ideas what has happened and how to fix it? Thanks a bunch all.

Hi, guys.

When I want to install certain programs, there is a set of error messages that makes the installation fail. They're as follows:

"c:\PROGRA~1\Symantec\S32EVNT1.DLL. An installable Virtual Device Driver failed Dll initialization. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application."

If I push "ignore" then this message appears:

"c:\Windows\system32\autoexec.nt. The system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. Choose 'close' to terminate the application."

I have a feeling that this is caused by a Norton antivirus program I installed couple years ago that I had a heck of a time removing. Could there be a chance that some parts of the program is still lingering to cause this?

I've been having this problem for the longest times and threw away a bunch of software because I simply couldn't install them. It's soooo frustrating. Please help!

Answer:Error Message: virtual device driver failed Dll initialization

It's a fairly common problem with an easy fix.

Download and run the file in this post from Elvandil:

It will fix the second error -- I'm not sure about the first.

I am using a Satellite L300 series laptop with a TSSTcorp CDDCDW TS-L633A CD/DVD drive, however the drive has presently stopped working, saying that:

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

I have tried uninstalling the drive and restarting the computer however when the laptop attempts to reinstall the driver I get an error message saying:

"Device driver software was not successfully installed"

Any ideas for how to get the disk drive up and running again?

Answer:Satellite L300: TSSTcorp CDDCDW TS-L633A Device Driver Failed

Hi

I think this can be solved very easily.
There are some threads which provide an solution;

Usually you need to delete this device in device manager.
Then you have to go to registry and have to remove the upper and lower filters from registry key.
Here you can get more details:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/270008/en-us

After that reboot the unit.

I had Norton Internet Security 2006 on my PC, uninstalled it and also ran the Norton Removal Utility (Ver.2008.0.1.19)

When I try to install a program, (Presto PageManager 7.15), at the end of the install I got 2 error messages:
The 1st is "AddPrinter Error: 1796".

The 2nd is related to Symantec: (16 bit Windows Subsystem)

?C:\progra~1\Symantec\S32EVNT1.DLL. An installable Virtual Device Driver Failed DLL initialization. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.?

I?ve researched the problem extensively. It relates to registry key Virtual Device Driver VDD. I tried to delete the key, delete the data value, etc. Nothing helps. When I remove Page Manager & try to reinstall I still get Error messages telling me the Virtual Device Driver is not setup properly or it?s data is wrong.

Try running SymNRT, the Norton Removal Tool from Symantec. It works better than any of the 3rd party Norton removers. It may be too late, but it might still be able to clean up any remnants. Get it here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/Norton_Removal_Tool_SymNRT_d4749.html You should probably also run a registry cleaner. CCleaner has proven itself both safe and effective; run both the disk cleaner and the registry cleaner using default settings and be sure to save the reg when prompted by CCleaner (just in case ). You'll be required to reboot after SymNRT (if it runs), and you should probably reboot after CCleaner. Then retry your installation. Download CCleaner from here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/CCleaner_Slim_No_Toolbar_d4191.html

Answer:Eepc 4g driver installing problem..cannot install realtek audio device driver

Post a make and model # if your PC is manufactured (Dell, Gateway, HP, etc.)

Use Everest to get a report of your system?s hardware, OS, and drivers. Upload the report as an attachment
Everest: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4181
When Everest is done scanning, click "Report" at the top of the Everest window, click next to get to "Report Profile", select "Hardware related pages", click next, select "Plain Text", click "Finish". Then when it is done processing, click "Save To File". Save it where you want to. (I would use Desktop.)
Click "Go Advanced" in the MG reply box, scroll down a little way until you see "Manage Attachments", click it, browse to your file, click "Upload", and close the window. Then submit the post. You may have to also type something in the reply box, like, "Here's my report.", so that it will submit.

Hello everyone. Hope you are all doing good today and able to beat the heat on this very hot day. I have this really old laptop HP Pavillion dv6000. Originally it came with Windows Vista installed back when Windows Vista was first released but eventually I upgraded the laptop to Windows 7. Everything was fine and working until recently where the laptop has no sound. I try to install the sound driver from the HP website and it says "driver installation failed: could not find the device for this driver." No matter what I do I cannot get sound on this laptop. If I go to YouTube and watch a video the video plays just fine but with no sound. When I click on the sound icon next to the time on the desktop bar a window pops up that says "troubleshooting has completed" Problems found: "Hardware changes might not have been detected." I am not sure what is up with this or how to fix it but any help is appreciated thanks.

Answer:It says "driver installation failed could not find the device for this driver"

A Vista laptop likely doesn't have Win7 drivers written...try re-installing the originals from the Driver CD and reboot...Plus it's likely you are trying nVidia or AMD drivers gettin it to work which is a no-no on a laptop....

Hi,

I recently have posted aboutan issue with recovering from a partition whichwent fine.

So I went through to do a clean re-install of windows 7 with a boot USB to get rid of factory bloatware and when I do. it gets to the option to write to a partition it sayscan't write to a GPT partition. Which is not really a big issue as plenty of tuts to.change to MBR which I have read.

But also if it dont make it to the option to write to a partition I get an error where windows says cannot find the device drivers installation. I have spent a day trying to find a way to get drivers on there. And I dont want to convert to MBR and still get the same driver error.

I have wrote the bo0t USB using different programs and still get either of those errors.

I've posted to this thread 3 times now because of Vista and I'm getting sick of this OP system!!! One day, my HP DVD-ROM decides not to work. Theres power, but when I put a disc in it won't read it (it will spin but nothing gets done) I have since found out that my driver has somehow failed and I need a new one. Well guess what? I CAN'T REPAIR VISTA WITHOUT A DVD ROM!!!! AHHHHH!!!! HP does not have a driver available to Vista, I checked. (Can I rip my hair out now?) My next option was to plug in another DVD Rom (an old one) and repair Vista through that one. I tried this approach this morning. It was installing the driver, and then... FAIL! It failed to install the driver!!! (RAARRRR!!) What am I supposed to do? Toss out my ROM and get a new one because the driver is corrupted? If it really WAS just the driver, then wouldn't the other ROM have worked??? So, what if I go out and buy a new ROM and that one fails too? I mean, what are my options when I don't have a ROM to fix or reinstall Windows????? Put my HD to a magnet?!
Please someone help!

I summed up everything in this first post (that happened meanwhile) so you can quickly catch up with the thread!
Hi,

We have a new monitor but I'm unable to use it's native resolution.
We're using it with a notebook (Intel GMA x3100 GPU) and it seems the graphics driver has no clue which resolutions are supported.

There's a monitor driver available url=http://www.lg.com/hu/termektamogatas/lg-M2232D]here[/url] (you can download it to examine it even if you don't own this product)
When I run the monitor driver setup, it wants me to select the display driver output. (There are two of them)
I selected the one I had the monitor connected (It said Non-PNP display). It had no effect so I installed it on the other one too but still no effect.
What should I do?

I did a system restore to try again (as there is no uninstaller for the driver)
Now it is doing the same, it says install successful, but just then I get another popup saying install failed...
Updates to sum up the things we've already discussed:I tried installing the monitor driver, both normally and manually in Device Manager. No effect.
I tried unchecking "Hide modes that this monitor can't display" -> Many resolutions appear, but most of the supported ones are missing, even the native resolution is missing (1920x1080)
Graphics driver is up to date

I tried a older driver that also failed. The last time this happened I used system restore and it fixed it. I don't have any restore points, after I recently had a virus it turned them off. I turned off updates in my nvidia control center in case windows and the nvidea control center were trying to update at the same time.

Windows updates also haven't worked right for about 3 months. I got the virus about 2 weeks ago and its should be clean and not a issue.

I upgraded to Windows 10 a while back. Every time I open the computer I get a pop-up notification telling me the USB device is unrecognized. I have no USB devices in any of my 3 USB ports.
I sent my computer in twice. No help. They just uninstalled everything and reinstalled everything and told me it should be fixed. It is not. I then went about updating every driver in my Device Manager. I uninstalled the Unknown USB Device and then updated
other drivers. Certain drivers (such as PCI Express Root Port #3 - 9C14) when updating would also reinstall the Unknown USB Device, which I would then uninstall and keep working down the list. At the end of updating EVERYTHING I scanned for hardware changes
and "found" the Unknown USB Device.
From what I can tell, and I know very little about this stuff, my computer can't name one of my USB ports. Since it can't figure out what it's called it can't download the proper driver for it. Since it can't download the proper driver it can't work properly.
The practical result from this is that one of my three USB ports does nothing when I put in any USB item (connect my android phone, thumb drive, presentation clicker, etc).
I've looked on tons of forums. My current thought is that if I can tell my computer what the deice is or download the right driver and tell my computer to use that driver for this device it should solve my issue. But I don't know how to know what the name
of the USB port should be (I imagine it woul... Read more

Talking about the Broadcom Bluetooth installer at Broadcom.com - Home.
Everything works fine until the Instalshield process. Fails, saying "Device not plugged in" for Bluetooth Peripheral Device and Multimedia Audio Controller. Bluetooth Radios and Human Interface Devices are OK.
Do you think my Bluetooth adapter is possibly just too old? It is a Belkin F8T012.
Broadcom.com - Home doesn't offer support.

Answer:Broadcom Bluetooth driver install failed

I wonder if you ever got any help. - When I download the latest Windows 7 Bluetooth package from Broadcom Widcomm whatever. It stops at the install and says, "an older version of this software has been discovered. Please remove it, then return to this installation. I tried that, and removed everything I could find remotely associated with bluetooth, but get the same message.

Looks like nobody cares on either end. - Guess I have to buy a dongle! - The headset, picks up the bluetooth on my TV, the bluetooth in my (2 year old) car even! - Some kind of range war between Sony and Broadcomm perhaps?

Or is it that you're not buying anything so we wont help you. Which seems to be the new norm in dealing with Sony.

Out of warranty? -1st 15 mins support free, and they know how to stretch that out. Then it's credit card time.

It's not even a warranty issue. This is something that should work. I just never had any use for bluetooth on my Vaio before.

I have just recently built a new computer due to my old laptop freezing now and then while using Windows 7. After putting together the build I first loaded Windows XP and then shortly there after installed Windows 7 RC1. Trouble was I was getting random BSoDs that related to the memory. So I ran memchk and everything was fine. This lead me to believe a random driver was causing the problem. So instead of trying to figure out which I decided to take an offer from my University that allowed me to install Windows 7 RTM a day early.

First thing I did was burn the ISO to a CD using imgburn at 8x burning speed the verification said it was good. So I go to install from in Windows RC1 and first thing I notice is that the option to format the drive and set up new partitions was missing. So I figured okay, that's MS' way of getting people to upgrade/completely reformat.

So I restart my computer and it loads everything from the CD and looks like Windows installation is about to start when random it stops and goes to a screen that has the following:

Code:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.
To fix the problem:

1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart the computer.
2. Choose your language settings and click next.
3. Click "repair your computer
If you do not have this disc contact your system administrator or system manufacturer for assistance.

I am truly at a loss as to what or where to start with this. I don't think it's a faulty hardware as I am able to run XP just fine.

Anyway I am truly perplexed any and all help would be appreciated.

We have seen many problems with burning the ISO to DVD at higher than 2x speed. You will get errors, then somewhere in the install process it will fail.

Re-burn at max 2x speed.
Or, use a 4GB USB memory key, there has been a lot of successful installs this way and it's fast.

Hey guys,

Windows Vista 32-bit
AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual core processor 6400 +
2gb ram
Nvidia Geforce 9600 GT

So I went to Nvidia and downloaded the latest driver, at the time it was 260.89 I believe and it failed, and so does the most current driver (260.99). But when I tried to download it my first time (260.89), it totally changed everything:

1. Now I can't play ANY games because it gives me error messages like "Unable to initialize renderer"
2. DxDiag only shows "N/A" next to basically everything under the Display tab.
3. The sleep option is now grayed out

Whenever I try to download the drivers again the Graphics Driver installation always fails.

So what the hell happened? Does anyone know how to fix this?

Answer:Nvidia 260.99 graphics driver install failed

Hi Nohone welcome to Techspot,

have you tried doing a rollback on the graphics card? this will hopefully revert your drivers back to the origional setup. You can do this from the hardware setup OR via system restore and re-set your computer BACK to a date before you installed the drivers. This wont effect your personal files but MAY effect any new software you may have installed.

Also make sure you ahve downloaded the correct drivers for it i.e. the VISTA-32 bit drivers instead of the VISTA-64 bit drivers.

A link for the latest driver for your graphics card can be found here:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvista-32bit-260.99-whql-driver.html

Hope this helps

That 400W PSU is just a minimum recommendation they give, and it doesn't really account for the other hardware components you use. With your 430W PSU you're already close to that limit, and if it isn't a brand-name PSU it probably isn't sufficient (cheap/no-name PSUs usually won't sustain the power output they're rated for).

Are you sure the videocard doesn't have a place for a 6-pin connector? Why would XFX advise you to get a PSU with one if you didn't need it? Better look again just to be absolutely sure...I do think that ATI card would benefit from extra power.

Hi all.

I have a friend who is having trouble making his Toshiba Satellite L50-A (PSKLWA-004001), Touchpad work. He said it hasn't been working several months so he has been using a USB mouse instead.

I first tried installing the driver from 'mytoshiba' and no drivers were available for windows 10 (64bit) so I tired the windows 8.1 driver and that didn't seem to work.

Then I saw that Synaptics had a windows 10 driver (same at pinned thread) especially for the touch pad so I installed the PS/2, SMBus one which I believe is the one built-into the laptop and it installed, restarted and no luck there either.

I did the latest windows updates and then it also detected an update for the touchpad driver, so it then installed via windows update and still no luck.

I know that this is not a simple case of Fn+f5 because the function key settings show that the touchpad is enabled and strangely the device manager does not have any device listed under mouse/pointing devices other than the USB mouse.

I believe this is a case, of the right driver has been found but is not installing, but I could be wrong .

Answer:Synaptics TouchPad Driver - Failed to Install

Strange that hasn't worked. An outside chance is to try using
DriverMax (2 downloads /day free).
I would never advise the use of such tools except in exceptional circumstances. I can say it has found two quite different drivers for me over the last couple of years I couldn't seem to find.

I am having flickering problem when connected to 2 external monitor using display port cable on my docking station.During troubleshooting I've decided to update the driver and now I am not able to re-install the Nvidia optimus driver.I've downloaded the latest version from the web, but for some reason it always error out during install.Device manager shows the device as standard vga adapter with yellow exclamation mark on it.Manually installing the driver would fail with error 28.The weird thing is, my monitor stop flickering in this condition, and I am actually tempted to stop and just ignore the driver issue. However, I am still very curious why my driver install keep failing. Optimus Driver version I am trying to install is 9.18.13.1269 Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello, here is my issue. Have a peer-to-peer environment at work. All XP machines except a new one that came loaded with Vista Home. Have 2 networked printers both are Samsung ML-2550 printers.

Problem is every time I try to install them on the Vista machine I get a "not enough memory error"

This machine has 1G of ram and I stopped the pre-fetch program and still no go.

Anyone have any ideas?

Also, I went to Samsung's support page and there are drivers for Vista, one is a GDI, one is PCL, and the other is Post Script. I don't think any of these will help with the network driver issue but please prove me wrong.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Answer:Failed Network Printer Driver Install

Are these printers hooked directly to a computer or to a print server? If you have them hooked to a print server, plug in to the computer directly, and install to LPT1 or the USB port, once this is done hook the printer to the print server, and change to port in the printer properties.

If you are hooking them directly to the computer, make sure that printer sharing is turned off while installing.

Start with the PCL6 printer driver.

Scenario:
I have one windows XP computer downstairs that is hooked up via ethernet with the modem/router, and I have one windows 7 computer upstairs connected to the internet via adapter. The adapter is from buffalo, the model is very common: WLI-UC-GN

Problem: I switched the computers just for convenience, so the winXP went upstairs. I tried to put the adapter onto it, and the driver failed to automatically install onto the computer. This unables me to access the internet, even though the internet works for everyone else because my adapter failed to work. I do not think it is the adapter; what I think it is, is that windows XP is too outdated to recognize the fairly new adapter (2 years old, not really new, lol.) I tried installing the driver on their website onto a flashdrive, then transferred it onto the windows XP, but it still does not work. When I first plugged in the adapter, windows xp actually did get some recognition, however when I went thru the process of installing the driver, it crashed, and when i un-plug and re-plug, the automatic installer does not pop up anymore

This is very inconvenient. Please help, this windows XP computer is old, but has very nice specs because it is custom made!
P.S. the internet was perfectly fine before the transfer of computers

Your best option may be to open device manager (with device connected) and uninstall any related device, making sure the 'Delete driver software for this device' is checked.Once you have done this, unplug your device, uninstall WMDC 6.1 and reboot your machine. Then follow the instruction on my first reply, this should sort it for you.If anyone is helpfull, please click the 'Vote as helpfull' icon.

I've been using firepod for a coupld year. Recently I found out that my IEEE1394 card chipset is not compatible. So I panic and uninstall the firepod driver. However, I decided to re-install it and I got BSOD during setup. I finally straighten it out (my PC had malware and software conflict) and when I tried to install it again, it kept saying it can't find the uninst.exe. I've done all the cleaning and a search didn't find any firepod related files. Yet the setup disc kept saying there's an existing version installed. I've cleaned the registry, the startup folder, control panel, actually HD folder...Where else could the "existing version" be?

I have a Precision M6800 running Win7, and a Nvidia K4100M Quadro.
I upgraded to Solidworks 2016 and ran Solidworks 2016 Rx to make sure everything in my system would jive well with the new software. The report said I should install the newer driver 354.56. I ran the update but it fails, and it doesn't directly mention what is failing just that the driver fails. The update rolled back the older driver but now upon a reboot I have a black screen that lasts for about 3-5 minutes before I get the login screen, which is very abnormal.
I've ran the driver in admin mode, and did a custom install to do a clean driver install, also I can't get the driver to install in safe mode either.

Just got a new Asus Zenbook UX31E and am having a certain problem where if I plug my external drive (Samsung S2 1TB, USB 3.0, 2.5") into the 3.0 port windows tries to install a driver for the new device but fails. Now the drive powers on when connected but wont load up as an accessible drive and is not found is disc management.

I've tried the HDD successfully in another laptop with USB 3.0 and it works fine on my Zenbook's USB 2.0 port so I'm guessing there's no problem with the HDD itself. Also I have tried a small flash drive in the Zenbook's 3.0 port which worked fine.

I have tried updating the USB 3.0 driver to the latest version via Asus' driver database but have got the same result.

I would of thought with such a prestigious laptop someone else would of run across this problem but all my googling has turned up ziltch.

Any ideas/suggestions much appreciated!

It might be worth while using Driver Fusion to help clean things up a bit.

D/L Driver Fusion and install. (During installation, make sure to untick the checkbox that suggests installing the tuneup app)

Uninstall your nvidia drivers normally via Programs and features.

Then run Driver Fusion select Display>Nvidia and then delete.

Then install whatever driver version you wish. (Latest or last known stable version).
Hopefully this will get you up and running again.

I seem to have lost my video card. The device manager is only showing the onboard card and not the PCIEx. Could this be a driver issue and should I try to install drivers for a missing device? I dont have the cd with the VC drivers, so I would need to open the case to see what kind of card it is? Do I have to use a disc to reinstall the drivers? What will happen if I disable the onboard card and/or uninstall its drivers? And if it cant see the device does that mean it is malfunctioning?

Answer:Install a driver without device

I'd try reseating your video card... If its not seen by windows, somethings wrong.

Reseating, i mean open the case and take it out and put back in.

I tried this on all my USB ports. The problem now is that when I plug the phone into a USB nothing happens at all - it doesn't try and load a new driver and since the driver it installed before didn't work it doesn't use that.

How can I remove all trace of the phone from the PC so that it will have another go at installing the driver (I used the CD that came with the phone before, but I have since got it to work on another PC by letting it search the web for a driver)

Answer:USB Device Driver Won't Install

Go to Device Driver, find the phone, and try updating the driver (searching the web). If that doesn't work, uninstall the driver, and then begin again with installation as you did on the other PC. Just in case you need it ...

Right click on My Computer - Properties - Hardware - Device Manager
You may have to hunt around that list for your phone; when you find it right click on it to see the choices I mentioned in the first paragraph.

Hi Everyone,

I recently downloaded an updated 32/64-bit touchpad driver from the Gateway support website for my 64-bit Windows Vista Ultimate OS on my Gateway laptop, but when I try to install it I receive this message from the Device Driver Installation Wizard:

"You have to run the 64-bit version of DPInst.exe on this machine.

Contact the vendor that provided you this package."

Why am I receiving this message and how might I be able to overcome/correct it???

One would think that the 64-bit version of DPInst.exe would come included on the Vista 64-bit OS....?? Or is this a hardware issue??

Any and all help to rectify this matter would be most appreciated.

TIA

Answer:Can't install device driver

Through extensive research I've discovered the answer to my problem....It's not a software or computer problem at all, the problem actually lies within the driver package itself. From what I understand the appropriate installer/s (DPInst.exe) is supposed to be part of the driver package. Unfortunately in this case Gateway has forgotten to include the 64-bit version. I guess my only recourse is to contact Gateway and bring this to their attention.

I have a toshiba laptop that I'm upgrading to vista...when I run the Toshiba Upgrade Assistant it starts to install vista components. There's a total of 22. The first 2 installed fine, but the third, the Intel(R) Graphic Media Accelerator Driver for some reason fails to install. The pop up installer says that the installation was complete, but then a pop up comes up and says that it failed to install and restarts my computer. Is there anyway to skip the graphic media driver install so that I can have all the other components installed? This problem doesn't really affect the running of vista, but every time I start my computer the installation thing pops up, but I want vista to complete its installation, ya know? Ok, so if anybody can help, that'd be great!

Answer:Failed to install Intel(R) Graphic Media Accelerator Driver

Since it's a Toshiba package you are installing, rather than separate components yourself -- I'd contact Toshiba and ask them about it.

Unless the installation package gives you the ability to custom install, I don't know what answer can be given here.

You could do a system restore to revert to the pre install date, but then none of the updates would be installed.

You also might try disabling UAC and see if that's a factor. This can be done through the program "msconfig" > Tools and requires a reboot.

First, let me apologize if this has been answered, but I tried to search and the browser keeps returning a memory error. I have 4GB, so I don't know what the problem is.

I'm trying to install Windows 7 on a newly formatted Harddrive on another computer. It gives me the language screen, and the "Install" button, but I get the error that the DVD/CD drive does not have the correct drivers. I have tried to F8 during boot, and disable the device certification check. It still gives me the error. It allows me to browse to a location, but I can't find a driver for my HP 200i DVD drive. The HP site does not have a Window7 driver available.

Drivers available on the web are exe files that I need to run, but I need don't have an operating system yet. Is there a generic drive that will allow me to install W7?

Answer:Device driver install problem for W7

It sounds like you're using a SATA DVD drive to try and install Windows. You have two options: You can use a different DVD drive that uses IDE instead of SATA, or you can go into your BIOS and attempt to have your motherboard emulate IDE for the SATA ports. If I remember correctly, the way to do that is to disable the AHCI option in your BIOS. Reboot, and see if it doesn't work this time.

Hi

I have an Mp3 player which is an MTP Device. i would like to connect this to the computer and therefore would like to add the MTP Device from the device manager.

First, I go to Control Panel - Add Hardware and under Portable Devices, pick MTP Device under MTP-compliaint device.

IT comes back with the error "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device (Code 31)"

Now I go to device manager, find the device and update the driver from the Internet, and it saids that it is the most current version, even though it can't actually find the driver???

What is going on? How do I install the MTP Device driver in Vista?
