Typo when entering user name - I'm now Greu!

Question: Typo when entering user name - I'm now Greu!

I'm just setting up a new computer, and not used to the keyboard. When I was installing the operating system I was asked for a User name. Before I had a chance to do anything it had accepted the name GREU and moved on to the next step. No back button! Bloody i7's, so fast!

I've tried doing a search in regedit for GREU, changed it in one place, but its still showing up all over. Is there a complete fix to this or should I resign myself to being known as Greu for the next few years?

Preferred Solution: Typo when entering user name - I'm now Greu!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My brother has a problem with his son's User Profile which is password protected. My nephew, who is only 14, will NOT reveal his password to his father (my brother) -and just to keep this short- my brother has no other options (trust me). So what I would like to know is if there is a flaw or secret that will allow one to "hack into" their own computer and checkup on this kid. (I think he is hiding something and his father is not enough of a man to take control).

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Just so ya know.....I agree that his father should shut down the internet service, and refuse to let his son on, but that just ain't happening! Pretty sad eh?

Thanks again

I am having issues trying to get to windows 7 to launch normally. It locked up and I had to do a hard shutdown. Now it will not launch normally. I get to the part where I enter my user password and press enter. Then screen then shows connecting with a cancel button but will go no further. I can get to my desktop in safe mode. I am suspecting a virus but haven't a clue how to resolve. I have MS Security Essentials running as my antivirus software. Any suggestions?

Answer:Windows 7 not connecting after entering user password

My first idea would be to use System Restore to return the PC to a date prior to the beginning of this problem.

When was that?

After having used my X230 for a year without this issue it started to be unable to go into sleep/hybernate. What I click the button to go into sleep then it appears to go into sleep (screen becomes dark) but actually does not. The sleep LED does not come on, the fan keeps running, and the only cure is a a hard reset. If I wait for several minutes then the notebook turns off and on restart shows the usual message which offers to boot into safe mode. When the user is logged off though, then going into sleep mode form the Windows login screen works fine. Experimenting with turning off wireless via the hardware button while logged in did not bring any clues. Device manager shows nothing suspicious. Already uninstalled recently newly installed programs. Each day I waste 20-30 minutes reloading all my programs and webpages several times a day. This situaion is extremely frustrating.

Answer:X230/Windows 7 crashes when entering sleep/hibernate (except when user logged out)

Hi Mpty,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with system not going to sleep/hibernate on your ThinkPad X230.

Is the system was updated by windows update recently?
From when you are facing this issue?
Try to restore the system to earlier state, the date you find the system was working fine.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

This issue has become specific as fixing one problem led to the other:
1) I deleted ntuser.* files while working in linux as they had ugly looking file extensions and I thought they are temporary files.
2) I started getting the message "The Group Policy Client service failed the logon. Access denied". This was the only user profile on my windows part.
I started looking on the Internet for solutions. I stumbled upon a solution to remove the sid field from the Registry ENtry "HLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList"
3) After this, when I login to the profile it shows "logging off" screen instantaneously.
My Present situation:
1) I can logon to this profile in Safe Mode.
2) I can make a new user profile and login to that profile in normal mode(Non safe mode).
However, I get old and trivial user settings and my stored passwords are gone.
I desperately want to revive my earlier User Profile. Please give some suggestion based on my situation.

Why would you expect Win7 to function correctly when you set about ruining it like that? Did you even create a System Restore point before acting so recklessly?

That's the first thing I'd check, working back before you ruined your install to a working configuration if System Restore will even run from the disk System Recovery Options .

If that fails, try SFC /SCANNOW Run in Command Prompt at Boot
from the Win7 disk or Repair CD System Recovery Options Command Line.

You may need to rescue your files and do a Clean Reinstall Windows 7 which will assure you get and keep a perfect install as long as you stick with only the tools and methods in the tutorial.

Fully up to date Vista Home Premium 32bit.

I lock computer by pressing WinKey+L or just wait few minutes and it start screensaver and lock itself. The problem exists ONLY when screen saver is running (tried third party screensavers and ones that were built in by Microsoft - no difference).

If ScreenSaver is running and I physically press turn off button on system unit, my computer exit screensaver, bring applications that are running to the front of screen, and lets me to work with them while Vista attempt to shut computer off. To make the matter worse, it almost always bring dialog about waiting for some applications more time or cancel shut down attempt. If I cancel it - i get full access to previously locked session without entering user name or password....
Could it be that this problem just my system specific?(not likely)

I have the MS security. I worked at a company for 14 years, they gave me 4 laptops over that time. I moved to a new place and the neighbors have managed to get into my network as the system admin. Unfortunatly, my job ended due to lack of projects and the
company told me to keep the computers so I no longer have direct access to my actual system admin. He set my profile to local on my computers. I have admin rights but this person keeps going in and making changes to everything. They even made it to where I
could not access wifi and deleted my profile at one time. I am not technical but I did a system restore to retrieve it. I have looked everywhere and MS security does not see it as a threat so does nothing. I would like to set myself as my own system/network
admin. This person has deleted/changed stuff on my childrens kindles because they are set up in my name. I have been blocked from posting to facebook etc. I have no idea what to do and really would like my privacy back. I check event viewer and see that they
mirror my recent activity and do all kinds of stuff with my security that I cant change. They are very good at what they are able to achieve and I know so very little about IT. I feel like David and Goliath, only I forgot the stupid rock at home.

I mistyped a url earlier (I believe i typed 'radiosahck' instead of radioshack) and was redirected to a strange website (something about internet surveys I believe) I closed it right away and did a quick scan with malwarebytes to make sure nothing was wrong, and it came up empty. I'm probably being a bit paranoid here, but is this anything to really worry about?

Answer:Odd URL typo redirect...

Redirects can be something to worry about, as you have no idea what content is being hosted on the re-direct. Most popular anti virus programs, have real-time scanning, where it's constantly scanning your computer, and as soon as you're redirected to a bad website, it will block any content that's harmful to your computer. I use Eset and it does this.

Question: Microsoft Typo

Microsoft made a typo in their WinSAT application, How can we let them know about it?

Answer:Microsoft Typo

Hi Steven,

You can try contacting them by following the link below. Whether or not you will get a response I cannot say. I have managed to locate the error in the 'WinSAT.exe' file (notice the space between the letters), and you can edit it to replace the erroneous 'o' with an 'i', however by doing so you will probably cause it to fail an SFC scan. In my opinion, it is such a minor error that it is probably best left ignored.

Okay helping a friend via long distance phone calls and the random email. This is the only info I have, if someone could shed some light on this and help, we both would appreciate it. Here is the email she was able to send:

"Still messing with that damn trojan. AVG sees it and asks the usual, delete, heal, or move to vault. No matter how many times I choose delete, or heal or even move, it comes back again and again. This is what was causing my IE to try and dial out (at least, that's what I get from looking online for info on this damned thing) and share my info with the hacker. Avast does not seem to see...this file. It is saving itself (and apparently restoring itself) in my Windows folder as a dll file. prntsvr.dll to be exact.

The name AVG gives is PSW.Dumarin.C. The last thing I tried was to turn my

So I was browsing around in Windows Defender (Windows Settings > Update & Security > Windows Defender > Open Windows Defender Security Center > Virus & threat protection > Virus & threat protection settings, then scroll down to Controlled folder access.)

The sentence "Protect your files and folders from unauthorized changed by unfriendly applications" has a typo in it.
(Refer to the attached picture)

Either:
? The word "changed" has a typo in it and should be the word "changes" (with an 's' instead of a 'd'), or
? There is at least one missing word in between the words "unauthorized" & "changed"
Somebody should inform Microsoft about this typo.

But Also: I noticed that this is a new option, since the last time I was browsing around in there. What does this option exactly do? It was originally off, but I turned it On. Yet I must say that I have seen a few messages pop up in the right corner of the screen, stating that Windows Defender blocked some programs from making changes. One of them showed explorer.exe from modifying the Favorites folder without me doing anything with Favorites. Exactly what does this option do? Is it kind of like some sort of strict "Firewall"? Because if so, then I like that.

Answer:HAH, I Found A Typo In Windows!

Blocks access to your files and documents by unknown apps (malware/ransomware). It's off by default because not all 'good' apps are in it's 'trusted' list. It takes a bit of fiddling to get all your apps to work after you turn it on.

Hi can someone please help clear up my concerns because I accidentally interned the wrong DNS address on my new router.
After entering this typo I almost immediately that my connection was unstable especially on Linux and yesterday evening when I logged back into my router the DNS settings were set to there defaults. But I was able to surf the web kinda in Windows though it timed out often and certain webpages wouldn't even open, and now when ever I enter the correct DNS settings it disconnects from the internet.

Here's what I entered

222.67.222.222
220.67.220.220

Instead of

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

I'm really feeling uneasy and stressed about this, any advice?

Why does stuff like this happen whenever your in poor health or any other of life's trials and complications?

Answer:Open DNS typo on router

Two things you might check:

1. In Windows, do your Network Properties have a DNS Server entry(s) that point(s) to your router (probably 192.168.1.1 or close) or do they point to the published OpenDNS IP addresses? Easy check: From an Elevated Command Prompt: ipconfig /all

2. After you corrected the DNS router entries, did you have the router do a cold reboot?

I believe you shouldn't overly stress yourself over this if you didn't make any financial transactions. But new passwords could be needed.

I am experiencing the red typo lines when there are no typos. This happens on occasion when I'm typing emails and posting or responding to forums. It seems to occur when there is an actually typo and I correct the error. After that the entire post/email from that point on will have the red typo lines.

Memory corruption caused by an unknown driver. Please run memtest and driver verifier.

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program.

Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

for your information:

Spyware authors and phishing fraudsters yanked an old scam out of the playbook Wednesday by directing malicious code at Internet users who may be prone to typing or spelling deficiencies, according to security researchers.

Finnish security firm F-Secure said they discovered an attack aimed at Web surfers attempting to land on Google's (Quote, Chart) homepage, but who may have mistyped the Web address.

Internet users who punch in "Googkle.com" are treated to a host malicious code, as the computer gets slammed with a heap of the unwanted software that is automatically downloaded and installed. The malware includes: Trojan droppers, Trojan downloaders, backdoors, a proxy Trojan and a spying Trojan. A few adware-related files are also installed, the firm said.

Hi,

I am having a problem when i misspell URLs.

When i type things like google.con instead of .com, i am redirected to a host of different search sites, including searchathand.com, and daplaces.com. I am pretty sure i must be infected with something, but i have ran several online and offline spyware and malware scanners and nothing seems to find a problem.

I am running Firefox version 1.5.0.6, but the problem also occurs in IE as well.

Advise please!

Cheers

Edit: I seem to have found what i think is the culprit for this...but this leads to another problem.

Is there a way to tell Microsoft Word to "guess" what I mean every time I make a typo? For example, I type "tsanding," and instead of changing it to "standing," it underlines it red. I know I can then right-click it, and select AutoCorrect > standing, so that, from now on, if the same exact typo arises in the future, in which I accidentally type "tsanding," it'll change it to "standing." I've thus far collected *hundreds* of specific typo corrections in this way. But that's very time-consuming, and is only a weak attempt at preventing typos I may be likely to make in the future (based on the fact that I made the exact typo at least once before). Is there any way to establish that I want Microsoft Word to go ahead and correct every single "underlined red" occurrence from now on, based on its best guess as to what I meant? (except in cases where the typo was so bad that it has no guess at all) That way, when it corrects something I *didn't* want corrected, I can then go back and add what I wanted to its dictionary, to tell it not to consider that word an accident from then on.

Answer:Is there a way to tell Microsoft Word to "guess" what I mean every time I make a typo?

Found this in the Word Help files. On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options. In the Replace box, type a word or phrase that you often mistype or misspell ? for example, type usualy. In the With box, type the correct spelling of the word ? for example, type usually. Click Add. Is this what you're talking about?

So I decided to buy Windows 7 from eBay. I didn't trust the people selling product keys only, so I purchased a brand new retail package. When I shop on eBay, I always look for sellers that are really close to me so shipping is fast. So I found a seller, said to be located in Maryland (which is two states away from me), with a great price and great feedback for his W7 sells. I was pissed because when the guy sent me the tracking number, I found out that the item was coming from Beijing, China, not Maryland! But I figured, well at least he shipped it.

THEN, I get an email from eBay saying the listing for the item I just purchased because the copyright holder reported that the item may be a counterfeit. At first I was pissed at eBay because now I had to record of the transaction in my eBay account and could not contact the seller directly from within the item invoice, since eBay deleted. Plus, he had several other sells of this same item, all with positive feedback of the W7 package, and eBay did not remove the listings for them. So I was like, why me? Luckily, I had his email from paypal and contacted him. He assured me that he is the legal owner of the item and that he sent proof to eBay saying so. Still never got my records back.

Anyway, this prompted me to search counterfeit Windows 7 retail packages. I found some interesting info, but my package doesn't fit any of the counterfeit profiles Microsoft says to look out for. The top hologram is built onto the ... Read more

Answer:My Windows 7 copy looks counterfeit. Typo on back cover. Came from China (eBay). Pics

It's fake, that's pretty obvious. The hologram thing is most likely a sticker on top of the actual disc surface - you can use a fingernail or razor blade at the very edge and lift it up a bit, that's 100% proof. The part numbers don't seem to match up with the actual Windows 7 Ultimate part number, and it just has a fake quality all the way around.

If you contact Microsoft, show them the pics, explain where you bought it from and your situation, there is a small - small but it exists - chance they'll provide you with a key just for making the report and identifying the seller you got it from.

No guarantees, but at the moment you're better off reporting it to them and going from there. Sure can't hurt to let them know, either way.

I'd report it, personally, without even really thinking about it. It just SCREAMS fake.

I am at my wit's end, I don't know what the deal is. I just finished building a killer PC running i7 980x on an Asus P6X58D Premium motherboard with GTX 470 graphics card, Intel 160 GB SSD, Corsair 850 TX power supply. The RAM is 6x2=12 GB of the Corsair 1333 MHz 9-9-9-24. I am running Win7 64 bit.

POST is fine and the BIOS looks good.

I have had nothing but trouble whenever I use more than one stick of RAM. I couldn't install Win 7 at 12 GB, getting hung up and BSOD, so I was able to install only with one stick of 2 GB. Same thing now - if I boot with 4 GB or more, it's BSOD. With 2 GB, I can work like normal.

I ran memtest on each stick individually and on all 12 sticks, and there were no errors after multiple passes.

What is going on???? Anybody have any idea?

Thanks.

Question: entering keycode

Hi, my daughter dropped her laptop and smashed the screen. We've bought her a second hand one to replace it and have installed Microsoft Office, printer drivers and allsorts of other stuff. During an automatic update, we found that the copy of Windows XP on this laptop did not pass the authentication process. I want to change the windows key number to that of the old laptop. I still have the disk and number. How do I change the number without having to re-install windows and all the programs that we have installed? Any help would be appreciated.ThanksDenny

Answer:entering keycode

I don't know if it will work. Firstly the version for both has to be the same IE one cannot be XP Pro and the other XP Home they have to be the same, both Pro or both Home. And I am unsure never having done this whether it will pass validation as it should identify that all the hardware has changed. The XP on the old laptop will probably be OEM and therefore won't transfer. You could try it but I'm afraid I haven't a clue as to where to start.

Hey All,
I'm getting my first SSD, a Crucial m4 128GB. I will be installing it in a system I built about 5 mounts ago. I wish I would have included it from the get go, but my budget and lack of patience didn't allow for that. I have read thorough the tutorial on moving my OS to the SSD a couple of times, but I'm leaning on just doing a clean install. I don't really have any data on my current HDD that I need to save, and I don't mind reinstalling the apps. I have on it. I will be making a image of my system and backing it up before I start in case some type of problem should arise. I do have a couple of questions.

1. Will the repair disk I made work, or will I need to make a new one once the SSD is up and running?
2. At what point should I change my controller to AHIC?
3. Should I go ahead and wipe the spinner clean after I make the image and back-up, or wait till I have the SSD set-up.
4. Is just reformatting an acceptable way of wiping the spinner clean, or is there a better way?

OK, I know that was more than two questions, and I may end up having a couple more.

Thanks for any and all input!

(current system spec. in my profile)

Answer:Entering the world of the SSD

1) Was the repair disk created from a Windows 7 SP1 install?

2) Change to AHCI before you install the operating system on the SSD.

3) Disconnect the original hard drive until you have completed the operating system installation and then you can decide what to do with it.

4) In my opinion formating is adequate unless you were going to dispose of the drive.

It shouldn't all of a sudden be asking for a password. Is this the same drive in the same computer as when it wasn't asking for a password? And you're sure it's a hard drive password it's asking for?Could someone have added a password without you knowing?Could it be asking if you want to create a password instead? If so you may be able to turn that off in cmos/bios setup.

I need assistance to enter a formula -"If" cell Q1 is less than $0.00 then proceed with the calculation Q1/(E1+I1)-1 and the result / answer (formatted as a %) should be 0.0%.the respective amounts are :-Q1 = $0.00E1 = $10.00I1 = $ 9.00if Q1 was $21.00 the answer is 10.5% .Any assistance as to how to write the formula is greatly appreciated

Answer:entering an IF formula

Your instruction make no sense.First you say: "If" cell Q1 is less than $0.00 then proceed with the calculation Q1/(E1+I1)-1Which means to me, that the contents of cell Q1 must be LESS than 0 for the calculations to occur.then you say:if Q1 was $21.00 the answer is 10.5% How can Q1 be $21.00 and still produce your result, when you just said that the only time to calculate is if Q1 is less than Zero.See my confusion?MIKEhttp://www.skeptic.com/

Question: Entering Data

Occasionally, questionnaires ask you to click on a down arrow and click on one of several responses, for example, your State or age. Generally, the box is highlighted and says "Select". If I am in Internet Explorer 8, I can't remove "Select" or get the choices. If they are asking for my State, I can enter an M and get Maine, then enter M again, and I get Maryland. If it's something different than State, I have to guess what letter to enter. Why? and how can I get the choices?

Answer:Entering Data

so let me get this strait the arrow button is not working, well you could try looking in the options or you could try using a different browser like firefox, if the same down arrows don't work then it is a fault with the website if they do then it is the way that IE reads the web coding

Is there any way for XP to just go straight to the desktop when I turn the PC on without having to go through the Welcome Screen etc?

I tried typing "control userpasswords2" into 'RUN' and made sure I turned off "User must Enter a Username and Password to use this computer" but then when it got to the login screen I got a message saying "Unable to Log You on Because of an Account Restriction".

I then tried turning the optin back on, but left the password field blank. Now it DOESN'T require a password, but I still have to click my little Username icon in the welcome screen in order to log on.

Is there any way round this? Basically I don't want to see the Welcome Screen at all, I'd prefer it just to go straight to Desktop when I turn the PC on.

Thanks.

I have an issue I've been trying desperately to figure out for the last two months. I can't find the power management options to stop my sound card from entering D3 while the computer is running. Basically, if no sound is playing for a period of time, approximately five minutes, the sound card switches from D0 to D3 and shuts down. Unfortunately, if any speakers are plugged in they start to hum. I can observe the switch in the "Power data" section of the driver details so I know it is the problem. Here is the contents of "Power data" if they help at all.

Code:
Current power state:
D0

Power capabilities:
00000089
PDCAP_D0_SUPPORTED
PDCAP_D3_SUPPORTED
PDCAP_WAKE_FROM_D3_SUPPORTED

Power state mappings:
S0 -> D0
S1 -> Unspecified
S2 -> Unspecified
S3 -> D3
S4 -> D3
S5 -> D3
The current state switches to D3 when the humming starts. Very annoying. There must be a way to edit the power management configuration on a per device basis but I can't seem to find any relevant information in my google searches. Any help would appreciated. Thanks.

Hi guys I had this problem before but it seemed to solve itself but now it's come back! My IE7 (running IE7 on a two month old Vista HP laptop) appears to enter safe-mode or something similar, just out of the blue it'll stop allowing me to right click on things, the tools menu is greatly reduced, & the menu bar disapears without the ability to come back. I've checked & it's not in safe-mode, i've tried resetting IE7 but it doesn't help! Logging off or restarting explorer will sometimes solve the problem but it soon comes back. It seems that if I leave it a day then it resolves itself. It happens a couple of times a month but I've no idea why?!?! Any ideas suggestions would be much appreciated! (I've tried running it in the no add-on's version but to no avail).

All was well but it now my T41 wont enter hibernation or standby when the lid is closed and doesnt display the standby option on the shutdown popup either. Have tried changing the power management profiles but there is no option to standby when the lid is closed only 'do nothing'.I have tried updating as many drivers as possible through levono, even BIOS update. I dont know if it is a power management problem or a display driver problem (no other issues with display) Please help as this is driving me mad!!! I hate having to boot up, check e-mail, then shutdown. I work as on-call and need to check e-mail several times a day. Any other info that ppl feel they need and I havent had the foresite to add please post and i will reply promptly.

I have just gone back to factory settings, and have done twice before in the last five years with my PC. I have Windows ME and have tried several times to enter what I know to be the correct product key. I have entered it carefully, not confusing 8 with B, for instance. I have tried to clear the buffer (I think that's what the helpline called it) and I have gone to the bios screen to update the date and time, yet still it tells me the key is incorrect. (I went to factory settings believing I had a virus, but I am now convinced the fan needs a clean as it switched off more frequently in hot weather.) :-/What are my options, please? I'd be glad of any advice. All Microsoft helplines send me off to nonsense that doesn't help at all. I no longer have a valid warranty. Thank you.

Answer:Problem entering product key.

And what kind of computer is it? And do you have a restore CD or some sort of hidden partition or what? If a CD, what does it say on it?

Ok this is annoying, i just did a clean install on my laptop and the last thing i installed is the Auslogics Disk Defragmenter suggested by this forum.... it is a good defragmenter but ive downloaded the new version and it installed adwares along with it.... the reason i know is because when i start my PC, a software called boostspeed is installed and i already got it uninstalled and next... google kept asking me to enter captcha due to traffic which i dont know from whre... so how to solve this? damn im so mad!! ive wasted my time formatting and clean and trying to install the updated version of application and this is what i got :( damn Auslogics!

Answer:Google Keep asking entering Captcha

Hello Tech Support Forum,

(It's been nearly 10 years since needing you last - great to see you are alive and well!)

Recently I've encountered major (and frustrating!) problems with registering on websites that require information. As there is too many to really to name, I'm pretty sure it has more to do with me than the websites. Hotels.com, Smarterasp.net just to name a few.

Basically when filling out a form, I generally get to the last area requiring my email address. When I place it, it says "invalid email address" I double/triple check and try again, same answer. I change the email, I use friends, a company, multiple (upwards of 5-6) still nothing. I clear my cache on IE, I even use Chrome! same thing. It was suggested I save my input to a notepad and paste it in, same result. I've done it from different O/S Win 7- Xp - Win8.... I can certainly imagine 1 maybe 2 of the major sites I'm visiting to have a glitch in their form...but so many?

As a side, today on Smarterasp.net, I'm simply trying to create email addresses for my website. I create 3-4 without problem, as I create #5 it says the first name includes digits or spaces. It doesn't, I double check and redo...same issue.

Really looking forward to advice on this issue.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Entering Fields on Websites

Once had a user with the same problem. Come to find out she was actually hitting the spacebar at the end of her email address and didn't realize she was doing it.

An email address canNOT contain any spaces within, or at either end.

Answer:stopping me from entering my programs...?

Hi bR33AnA?

If you suspect malware as the culprit of this, then please follow the below guide,

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
CounterSpy - ONLY IF you were not able to run Windows Defender
Bitdefender - from step 6
Panda Scan - from step 6
runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
HijackThis

NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single mes... Read more

I am working on a project in excel and cant figure out the formula.., is there a way to simply take a cell and multiply another cell containing a percent and to place the total (whole number) into another cell... Is it really that difficult or is it just me trying to hard to figure it out..lol please helpExample: I need a total from one column and then multiply 5% to give me a total for the next column.

Answer:I am having difficulty entering in a formula

in the cell where you would like the multiplied percentage number to show up it would look like this=a5*5%where a5 is the summed total. to get the total plus tax u would use 1.05

Does anyone else have the problem that I have in entering text in this forum?
Many times I cannot proceed because the cursor seems to have a mind of its own!
When I type a line of text, and end the sentence, hoping for a single line, I find that the next sentence is tagged on the end of the previous one!
THis does NOT happen in other instances of typing on Websites.
Also, is the Tags item REALLY necessary?
It just will not accept 4 items, sometimes, and holds up the sending of queries.
geedad

Answer:Entering text in this forum

"I find that the next sentence is tagged on the end of the previous one"
You have to start a new paragraph
if you don't want it to continue from the end of previous sentence.
Unfortunately the preview box doesn't always show you this, so you don't quite get what you think once you have posted.
As for the Tags, it just says maximum of 4 so it is ok to put only 1 tag word in.
