Boot interrupted

Question: Boot interrupted

I have a fairly new Acer netbook that has suddenly started to have a booting issue. Before the problem started, the normal sequence was that just after the power button was pushed, the cursor would show up at the upper left corner of a blank screen, and two or three seconds later the words, "Windows starting" would come onto the center of the screen and the booting would continue as normal.

Recently, however, the booting process started freezing at the point with the cursor in upper left of the black screen. I learned that if I hit control/Alt/delete the screen would go black for a couple seconds, and then the booting process would resume as normal with the "starting windows" coming on again.

I should also mention that using control/Alt/Del doesn't always work the first time either. Sometimes I have to do it two, three or four times to get the booting going again.

Does anyone know what may have caused this problem, and more importantly, how to correct it?

Preferred Solution: Boot interrupted

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Boot interrupted

Whenever I'm confronted with a Windows or boot-up problem that has no other obvious cause, I test the hard drive first before looking elsewhere. The most reliable test is the drive maker's own testing or diagnostics software. The links are here:
http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287

I daresay the hard drive is fine but it's best to be sure of that first.

Question: Boot interrupted

This just started after using Windows 10 normally for two days.

In the boot process at the start I get a black screen headed by "Edit Boot Options" which then describes the correct boot path etc. and is followed by [ /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN ].

If I then click on "submit", the boot proceeds normally.

How can I get rid of this extra step?
------------------------------------------------------------
Solved by using command prompt as admin
"bcdedit /set optionsedit No"

When I recently tried to reboot my computer, the boot sequence stopped and gave/gives me the following message. "Hardware Monitor found an error. Enter Power setup menu for details." I've tried to enter the defaults but nothing I tried works. Also, when I press F1, Windows XP starts to load but then the screen goes black and the system restarts. Does anyone know what to do?

Naturally these things always happen at the worst time...last night I'm resizing a partition on an external hard drive and browsing at the same time, which I think had a hand in crashing my laptop. Apparently this happens all the time with Paragon Partition Manager, as Google suggested this topic (Interrupted operation: Insert the Recovery CD - Paragon Community Discussion Forums) before I even finished my query. It says I need to fix the Master Boot Record. Here's where I am right now:

1. "Interrupted Operation" error when rebooting. Windows asked for a recovery CD.
2. Changed boot order from HD to CD drive.
3. Refused to click through my OEM recovery CD because it only appeared to include the option to format my laptop
4. My laptop has a barebones optional OS which I can use only to play music and visit websites. From here I can see that my HD is still intact.
5. Tried System Recovery Options but OEM CD wouldn't allow it.
6. Bought a copy of W7 from Office Max in an attempt to get to the recovery options screen.
7. It worked, but before I could get to the command prompt to follow MBR - Restore Windows 7 Master Boot Record, Windows recognized a startup problem and offered to fix it automatically...so I accepted.
8. Automatic fix did not work. Not only does booting from HD still show "Interrupted Operation" message, the W7 cd no longer loads.

I'm extraordinarily distraught. My entire life was on that laptop, including my college transfer essay (and on t... Read more

Answer:Interrupted Operation, won't boot

Have a look at the partitions - are they still as they were, and do they contain a recognized filesystem.
Did you boot the Paragon recovery media to see what is going on?
Boot Paragon cd - rt click the Hard drive ( not a partition) and select update mbr.

Hey !

I had a very very disturbing experience in which I was forced to shut down the computer, but failed and accidentally sent it to sleep.
Unfortunately, it never managed to wake up. It stayed during half an hour blocked early in the restarting process... I took my chance with a hard-reset.

And then it becomes insane. It gives me the cold shoulder, just hanging in a "Reverting changes" task. It's been a good while too.

I stand in awe wondering how is it even possible to break my setup like this. Considering the damn thing came with no restoring CD of any kind, on a scale of it's all fine to you're screwed, how exactly would you rate me ?

Thanks for helping !

Answer:Interrupted during wake up, can't boot anymore

It might have a recovery partition where you could revert it to factory settings.

If you can get into the bios enable the boot menu which should activate F-12 to show the boot menu on startup.
If so choose 10 & get into recovery options.

Aloha,

I'm helping out a friend. He has a Sony Vaio laptop. He tried to download the latest XP system updates a couple times and turned off the computer during the download. After the first time everything was fine, but after the 2nd time he must have interrupted it at a critical point. Now XP won't boot, goes through the XP screen and once in a while a message pops up very briefly that says not enough virtual memory and then reboots.

I can't get it to boot in safe mode either. Also tried to boot from the XP CD and again restarts on its own.

We'd like to fix it so he does not lose any info on the hard drive.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Mahalo,

Srf

Hello,

I just got a new Acer laptop with Vista and a Windows 7 upgrade. I installed the upgrade, and everything went fine, but after I shut it down it went into auto installing updates.

As I was on critical battery and couldn't find my charger, it shut down before completion. Now whenever I try to restart I get an error screen (which is only on for a second or two so I can't get the numbers off it) and then it tries system repair, which fails, and if I try system restore, this also fails.

I would have been happy to re-install the OS, as with it being new I have no important files on, but didn't get a Vista disc with the laptop and my Windows 7 disc is just an update disc.

Any advice?

Thanks,

Steven

Answer:Windows Update interrupted and now cannot boot laptop

Just took a photo of the screen as it flashed up and have the full message and error codes from the error screen. I've also put the Startup Recovery error messages/code below. System Restore says it runs fine, but then on restart it just returns to the Windows Error Recovery screen, then the Stop Error screen regardless of which restore point I choose (from 3)

Hiya

i _think_ this is the correct forum.

PC has Windows 8.1 on SSD and Windows 10 on HDD.

The install of Windows 10 was over a Windows 7 installation - and i had it keep all data and programs. Which is did successfully.

When booting in 8.1, it decided to repair the disk with Windows 10.
A fuse blew and now Windows 10 will start to boot (windows logo showing) and then will just go to a blank screen.

Trying to access the Windows 10 HDD from 8.1 - gives

Running EaseUS Data Recovery on the drive shows that the original data is there..

So my question is how can i rescue my Windows 10 with all my apps and data?

Answer:After Interrupted HD Repair Windows 10 wont boot

Hello buzzbuzz Welcome to the Ten Forums!

Having a fuse go or a breaker tripped on you isn't a garden party! I've been right in the middle of something and lost files, data from that type of incident on occasion. If you made the Recovery Drive for 10 or made up the live media for 10 then you have readily available options to work with in order to get 10 running again. (Notation due to the size exceeding 4gb a 5gb or larger usb flash drive will be required to see that made up)
That would be the Recovery and Repair Tools included on the live media for things like the Automatic Startup Repair tool, other troubleshooting options, that includes the command prompt option still, and the last resort of the PC Reset that will bring you back to Day One with the need to install programs again!

What you can do from the 8.1 side is right click on the G drive 10 is on and open up the Tools tab to run the Error checking option. That will start up the Disk Check tool to scan for any disk errors. And besides the startup repair option and the PC Reset you also have the option to see an in place Upgrade to Repair type install that will 10 going again. Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade - Windows 10 Forums[2]=Installation%20and%20Setup

These are some of the most commonly used repair options available. If you need to see the 10 installation media created having seen an online upgrade by way of the 10 app you will also want to follow the steps seen in the guide for downloading... Read more

Good morning,

I have a 4 years and a half old Sony VAIO computer with windows 7 home.

The computer was working properly until a month ago or such. Sure, maybe a bit slow since it's a bit old already yet it was working quite decently.

Unfortunately, one month ago the computer ran out of energy while it was starting (when Windows was initializing) When I tried to turn it on once again, I discovered it would go into an infinite loop trying to restore Windows 7 without success. I tried restarting it in every single mode, yet it wouldn't happen.

I tried to fix the error by using f8 and guiding myself by the assistance of the computer but did was a failure as well.

All I managed to achieve was to make a scan with FRST.

I would appreciate any help/advice on what to do next.

I'm not sure what's happening but I continue to receive "your connection was interrupted" on google chrome. I use edge/ie for work (I'm on windows 10) and sometimes I have to refresh those pages as they stop loading. I've flushed dns, reset winsock, unplugged router, and even tried uninstalling and reinstalling chrome but nothing has resolved this and it's quite frustrating. Literally every other site I try to go to in Chrome I receive this message. On these error pages, there is no option to refresh. It just gives the error and the page stops loading. I would greatly appreciate some help in getting rid of this annoyance. Thank you so much in advance.

My own fault, I got cold feet during installation because I had not realised that the downloaded version would go straight to install and I was afraid it would immediately overwrite my stable and established Win 7 64bit.

What I wanted to do was to save the downloaded Windows 8 installation file and then run it on a spare disk so that I could then dual boot.

I stopped the installation after the Win 8 file had downloaded and had started installation (Checking files stage).

My problem:

Although I now have a product code for a copy of Win 8, I don't know how to get a copy of the ISO which I had hoped to receive.

If I cannot get an ISO, will the downloaded version give me a choice as to where I install it? However, I cannot even see how to restart my interrupted installation if that is what I have to do.
What a mess! Help Please

Answer:Interrupted installation.

Check this post by BillWindows.

Then boot from that to completely wipe your disk and reformat, make sure you have your key for when you start the installation. If you have a Windows Live account use that. Make sure you feel comfortable doing this and have anything you need backed up, this worked for me, I hope it works for you.

My computer hasn't been used in a while and upon booting it up it started installing updates. Apparently the battery (non-removable) is dead because the cord came unplugged and it shut off. Now when it attempts to boot up it shows a blue screen with a sad face and says it encountered an error and will reboot. After restarting it shows a 'preparing automatic repair' page but then just goes black.

A few weeks ago I had a Boo/Whistler virus. I used TdssKiller. Avira and/or Avast then found and removed a few others.

Since then, my internet connection constantly fails. In Internet Explorer, I have to constantly use "Diagnose Connection" to keep the conection working. In Task Manager, I see numerous Internet Explorer process running with huge memory usage (which I can End Task without closing any of my own open IE windows). Also, Task Manager no longer has a title bar.

The primary problem is the internet connection constantly failing.

Malwarebytes, Avira, and Avast scans don?t show any viruses (although Avast seems to indicate Boo/Whistler virus on a boot scan, but it doesn?t fix it).

Connection Interrupted The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.

I saw this problem on another thread but what solved it there doesn't work for me.

I am still having this same problem. I did not have AVG when it started, I do now. I've tried rebooting router etc. also. I believe it's windows related. I have it on both IE and Firefox. Not every link but a lot of them.

The problem occurs on webpages with a Google Lead Services ad or on the google search results page ( sponsored links)

I've tried adding google and google lead service to a Host File. Not sure I did that right but it didn't work.

Any suggestions?

Is it my imagination or do interrupted downloads in XP not restart from the point of interruption like Win98SE did? I have had some connection problems with my dial up service this morning and have tried several times to download a file, but it always starts over. This was a very useful feature in Win98SE, is there something I need to turn on in XP to get it to do this?

Answer:interrupted downloads

It not a standard feature for Windows 98 either. Go to Download.com and look for third party download utilities. V.92 the new modem protocol reportly also supports it and Call Waiting.

Hi I have a Samsung laptop which I shut down during an update. Now it will not recognise any files or folders and windows is causing it to hang

Answer:Updating interrupted

Welcome masternotgeek,

You will need to go into Windows recovery and attempt to use System Restore to a point before the updates were install. You can do this either by using a recovery/install disc (if you have one) or, when the laptop is starting up, press F8 a few times until the Advanced Boot Options list is shown, where you can hopefully select Repair your computer.

From this point, you should be able to find System Restore and follow the dialogue to restore your system to an early point/date.

Running windows 7 Ultimate. We lost power last night due to a storm and my system was running on battery backup. Well in my hustle to shutdown my computer, I selected the WRONG shutdown and windows started installing updates. Of course the battery backup died and the system lost power while it was doing this.

I powered the system up today, and it came right up. I know it was on 2 of 11 when the power dumped.

what do I need to do to finish the updates and ensure future updates continue to be downloaded ?

thanks.

Answer:interrupted updates - Now what

I can't think of anything you can/need to do really. It should finish installing the rest of the updates the next time you update your computer. If you think there is a problem causes by the 2 updates you did not installing properly you can use system restore or there are tutorials all over the internet for manually removing installed updates. Does this answer your question or did I miss something?

"Interrupted Operation - please insert Recovery CD ..." is the message I get after trying to recover space on an external Hard Drive by using "Paragon Partition Manager Personal Edition 10". I now realize this software is not meant for Win 7, but it appeared to work. The screen showd partition recovery, then it rebooted and hung up. I powered down/up and it gave me the above message. I used the Win7 installation disk 'repair' feature, and found no errors. The DOS prompt in this recovery disk allowd me to see that the C drive was intact and that the Windows directory was present.

I do not want to re-install Win 7 as I need the data and software. What do I do?

Ironically (!?) I wanted to re-partition the external HD so I could backup the C drive image (lol).

I compared my ping in-game between playing with the tv on and playing with it off. My ping does go up in every game once my tv turns on. With the tv off i can get about 20-40 ping. With it on, maybe 100-800. Possible apps/programs in my tv that might interfere with my signal?

wifi or ethernet?

Unless you are using apps on the TV, I wouldn't expect them to be generating enough traffic to cause any impact.

I've been having this problem for a few weeks now, and have googled but still have found nothing but "I have this too and it sucks".

You guys have been very helpful in the past, so I was hoping something will be suggested that will work!

Recently, I can go surf the web like normal, but certain websites come up with a "connection interrupted" error from firefox3 on my windows xp computer.

Connection Interrupted
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.Click to expand...

It's only a few certain pages, gamestop.com and cnn.com are two that I can remember. I know I originally clicked on links to get to both sites, but even when I type the urls they don't work. But it's gotten to the point where I'll be searching for something (this problem, for example), click on a link, and it won't work.

Here's the weird part. I'll open I.E. and get page cannot be displayed errors. So, I went over to my parents computer (in which I am connected through a router) and lo and behold, all the websites work.

We have the same version of firefox, the only thing I can think of being different is that I have SP3 and have been installing updates and they have updates turned off. Going off of that, I set my restore point to about 3 weeks ago, and am STILL having this problem.

I know it can't be m... Read more

Answer:FF3 Connection Interrupted

I don't think it has anything to do with Firefox. IT sounds more like the connection to the internet is being lost and that's a problem you should address with the ISP. You are describing intermittent lose of signal. If you have a wireless connection, it could be the router.

It would be interesting to know if your parents had a different ISP or a different connection method.

I was partitioning my hard disk using the Paragon Partition Manager when in the midway of the processing, my laptop screen turned black and the power button starts to turn on and off indicating that it went on a sleep mode. After seeing this, I immediately pressed a key but nothing appeared on the screen however, the power button already lit up steadily.
I pressed the power button then it boot up and gave me this message on the screen: "Operation interrupted and please insert a recovery disk".

I tried inserting my Windows Vista Starter OEM System Builder Pack and follow the steps indicated in this tutorial http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html but I wasn't able to fix it. I only ended up getting this message, 'Windows cannot repair this computer automatically.'

Btw, my OS is Windows Vista Starter and the brand of my laptop is Compaq CQ40.

Anyone who has an idea of how to fix this?

I had my friend help me install my SSD, mainly because I hadn't seen them in a while and because I like to have an extra pair of eyes in case something goes wrong. The install was fine, but I used EaseUS Partition Master to migrate my Windows folder from the HDD to the SSD. My friend offered to check on the program, since it seemed to be taking a long time. When he came back downstairs, he informed me that the program seemed to be stuck on 70% and he reacted by doing a hard shutdown on the system. I didn't think much of it because when the computer booted again, it was much faster than before and all of my programs that normally load at startup worked with no errors.

I guess I have two questions:
1. Should I be worried?
2. If something happens in the future, is there a way to undo the move from the hdd and basically restore it back to the point where the SSD wasn't installed?

Answer:SSD Migration Interrupted

Make routine bi-monthly full image backups of your OS and Data partitions on trusted external media -- that would be cleaner than trying to reverse the present set up. However, let's await what others say.

So I'm using the firefox browser in my newly-reformatted computer.
And I'm have some download problems. Everytime I would download a file it won't show up in the downloads but there will be a file created in my harddrive folder as specified under the firefox options on the "downloaded" files. The problem however is that the file is only 30 kb and is a .part file and not completed. I always have to re-download the file for 2 or 3 times until the file is finally completed downloaded.

I'm thinking it must be something to do with my kapersky antivirus. If not, then thats why I'm posting here to see some measures I can take to fix this, hence to prevent it from happening again.

So I just reinstalled from factory restore disks that I had lying around and it took me forever to go from RTM to fully updated. Once I was fully updated I ran compcln.exe to remove old service pack data and whatnot and I also went to remove some other programs. In the middle of this my computer just stopped and nothing was happening. I had to do a power cut shut down and tried to re-run compcln.exe but it told me it had already been run and cannot be run again. Does this mean it worked or do I need to find a way to run it? Are there third party tools that can remove old service pack data or check to see if any is left over?

Thanks, I really don't want to have to re-reinstall and go through all of those updates again.

Just do a system restore

For your additional information. After you have it working the way you want make a copy of your HD. If you ever have a problem you can use that image to go back. The downloads updates etc, will still be in place.

I have been experiencing some problems recently w/ interruptions in my web browsing. Speed checks on my internet have revealed no issues. I've tried using Firefox, Chrome and IE. While using chrome to access gmail and at one point my gchat function was telling me that my administrator wasn't allowing access(not even sure what that means). My main problem though is that web pages are sometimes not loading and quite often loading at very slow rates, despite having a strong internet signal. Videos often don't play or load at extremely slow rates.

I'm running Windows Vista on a Dell Inspiron 531S. It seems like this problem is coinsiding with my recent switch in security. I was running Norton Antivirus, and a week or so back I changed to AVG free V8.0. I've run scans with spybot, ad-aware and AVG and no problems were reported. I've yet to hear any problems like this about AVG, which is why I switched in the first place (that and it was free), but I can't help noticing the correlation. Is there anything I can do? Does anyone know exactly what it could be and/or how I can get back to surfing the net at my normal speeds?

Answer:Internet being interrupted?

Ok, well apparently no one has any clue why this is happening. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do in order to figure this out? The only other detail that I can provide is that when I uninstalled Norton, Windows activated it's firewall. I would think that this would not interrupt webpages from loading and such, but then again, who knows?

Question: chdsk interrupted

Hi,Ive had pleanty of experience reinstalling/repairing xp and it usually solves big problems. My mother lives some 250 miles away and she called me this evening in a panic saying her computer wont start. What i understand from what she told me...When she started it, it ran chdsk. She had no idea what this was and when she saw the word "delete" scrolling down the screen, she thought it was erasing her HDD and switched it off.... sigh.Over the phone, ive tried her to get advanced options up by pressing F8 and also the bios by pressing del. I wanted to know this incase i have to drive up there with a recovery cd. However, nothing showed up except for a blank screen when she powers it on. The only visual she is getting is from the monitor like "power save" or "LG".So im quite concerned now that this HDD is dead and not recoverable. No backup uunfortunately and lots of important data hanging in the balance.I told her she should not have swtiched it off and also that i was 95% sure her documents are safe, but im having my own worries now due to no Mobo logo or anything showing on screen after boot. Its a Packard Bell and its about 6 years old.Whats your first thought on this problem? Many Thanks

Question: chkdsk interrupted

I was working on a dell dimension 4700 and ran chkdsk /r from the recovery console when the plug got kicked out by the client during the second(I believe) stage. It booted back up normally and I left. The client emailed me later saying she was getting an error that some files were corrupt and chkdsk needed to be ran again.

I am wondering if running it with the same switch will fix the errors or do I need to run /f? Cant you run both /f and /r like this: chkdsk /f /r??

Thank you, I just wanted a second opinion before I go back and run this again.

Any other devices using the same internet access? If so, can they download OK?

Open a (black) Command Prompt window:
Hold the Windows logo key and press r; in the Run box type cmd and click on OK.

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

This is quite frustrating since I have an iPod and I can't install Quicktime either. Doing a google search the problem has something to do with SP2, and so far the only solution is to remove SP2 which I do not want to do. Has anyone else encountered this before?

This has been an issue for at least a few months now. I bought my laptop before I left for college and never really used it at home that much. Whenever I come back, however, the WiFi will stop working after a few hours (it will work initially after I come back, but will stop after a few hours each time). On Chrome, it says "Your connection was interrupted" while on Edge it will just say that it cannot connect to the Internet. My computer says that it is connected to the Internet. I have 5 other devices connected to my Internet which all work completely fine. My computer will work completely fine when connected to a network other than the one at my house. After the initial error message, the WiFi will stop providing Internet to my laptop. All other devices work fine, but my laptop then says that it is connected to a network with no Internet. After a while, it will say that there is Internet once again, but it will refuse to connect saying repeatedly that my connection was interrupted.  I have tried flushing DNS, reinstalling adapter drivers, updating Windows, disabling and re-enabling the WiFi adapter, and changing DNS settings to get DNS from Google's public DNS. All to no avail. Connecting to a mobile Hotspot created by my phone will allow my laptop to use the Internet, but once I try to connect to my home WiFi, it fails again. All other devices work fine. On occasion, the laptop will show that it is identifying the WiFi network, but this process never finishes. Af... Read more

On one of my favorite sites: oneacross.com
I continue to have problems switching to it with my bookmark from Mozilla Firefox.
It shows this message: Network link interrupted

Is it part of my DSL having a problem or is their something inside Mozilla that I need to reset?

Answer:network link interrupted

Hi,

I haven't been able to reach that exact website either. I tried to ping it and I got this:
Code:
--- oneacross.com ping statistics ---
72 packets transmitted, 72 received, 0% packet loss, time 71353ms
Is it possible that the site is down for maintenance, or updating. It is also possible that there is a problem with the server that it is running on. Right now there are a lot of options. I would recommend that you keep trying to reach the site and see if there is any change. If there isn't in a day or two then we can do some more work on what might be the problem. But for right now it looks like it is a problem on their end.

Cheers!

Hi!
Tried troubleshooting my problem in many different ways and I though now is the time to check for any malware with you guys.

So basically what happens is: since yesterday some websites don't load saying that the connection was interrupted. Now, I noticed that this doesn't affect google, I don't know why. Also, sometimes, say once every 5 minutes the website would be able to load but partially (ei missing some content like pictures, formatting etc).

I haven't changed anything in my laptop which might have caused this problem to start. I connect to the internet via a wireless router but non of the other machines connecting via this router have this problem. Both pinging and tracerouting the websites from the cmd works fine and yet the websites still get connection interrupted error. Running an Avast scan didn't yield any viruses or other problems.

I'm both files generated by DDS and HijackThis.

Hi,

Since getting my computer over a year ago I have had problems with the internet. I think the problem is with my machine as the same thing happens, even if connected through a different router (I have tried several) on a different network.

While using any browser, periodically the pages top loading and I get an error message - eg: google Chrome could not find www.... it usually comes back within about a minute.

Whilst using skype, I cannot browse the internet and talk on skype at the same time, if i do so the call cuts off. Sometimes the call cuts off even if I do not attempt to browse. Here are the technical details for the computer:

Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-57, x64 Family 15 Model 104 Stepping 2

I was downloading Ubuntu and left the computer on because it takes ages. Microsoft took it upon itself to give itself permission to automatically install updates, did this and restarted the computer when the download had done about 500 MB of the 600 or so MB. This is saved and says it is "part". Can I restart the download, but just get the remainder, not restart from the beginning? Thanks.

Answer:Interrupted Download - Can I Get The Rest?

Assuming the file is not corrupt, you could remove the .part extension from the file and rejoin it with a FTP client that supports resume, such as Filezilla. You would do this by using the FTP client to save the file to the same directory. This of course assumes that your download source will be from an ftp address.

So if you know that the macros are trustworthy you could enable the option.

Does the document open after the error !?? Does it happen only with this document or all documents ?

So I initiated a system restore last night due to connectivity issues however, it was interrupted by my wife shutting it down after thinking I had left my laptop open accidentally last night. Now, it has been loading on a black screen after the initial HP screen for over 2 hrs. PLEASE HELP!!!

Answer:System Restore Interrupted

If this laptop came with Windows 10, you might get it to repair itself by hitting F11 multipule times at startup.  If that gets you nowhere, make a Windows 10 disk on another PC by going to the M$ Media Creation Toolor See this:http://www.thewindowsclub.com/windows-10-media-creation-tool-create-installation-media-upgrade After getting the Windows 10 disk, boot this troubled PC to that disk and pick repair instead of install.

When i dial my isp I normally hear the modem dialling. But suddenly it has started behaving oddly - it gives a first little burble and then there's silence for 15 - 20 secs. Meanwhile the connection icon is still showing that it's connecting. Then it dials properly. My other computer, using same isp and phone line is not affected so it's something that's happened on one system only. Suspect my son's fiddle fingers during the Christmas holiday! But if so, what did he fiddle? (OS is ME)

I'm having a problem with something calling itself "WindowsZirvede" that pops up two blank windows - one large and one small at start up. The computer stops start up but does allow the windows to be closed at which time everything seems to operate normally.
Even though everything appears to operate normally after closing the windows, I would appreciate if someone would check my HJT file and offer any advice on how to remove this.
Any help is appreciated.

Answer:Computer start up interrupted by ????? Please help!

Welcome to TSG
Before we start fixing anything you should print out these instructions or copy them to a NotePad file so they will be accessible. Some steps will require you to disconnect from the Internet or use Safe Mode and you will not have access to this page.

Download SDFix and save it to your desktop.
Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(this is the drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix). DO NOT use it just yet.

Reboot your computer in SAFE MODE" using the F8 method. To do this, restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup [but before the Windows icon appears] press the F8 key repeatedly. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".

Open the SDFix folder and double click RunThis.cmd to start the script.
Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
It will remove any Trojan Services or Registry Entries found then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
When the PC restarts, the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt.
Finally copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt in your next reply along with a new HijackThis log.

I'm embarrassed about this, but I've caused my notebook computer to freeze up and I don't want to touch anything until I've spoken with an expert, here. I started the day with a problem many have had and I know you are probably sick of answering the same question, so I read for hours and then attempted the fix by myself. I was having the error message with Kernel 1256 in it: Something like, "Your system could become unstable. A potential problem has been detected and Windows has been shutdown buggy application to prevent damage to your computer" and "During a scan of the files at system startup, potential errors in the system registry were found. . . kernel error 1256" Plus there were 2 new icons on the desktop, having to do with Windows Update. All of this is a very common problem in the world this month. So I used FixVundo.exe in safe mode, then used Killbox.exe to help delete a couple files, then I rebooted and everything seemed OK. However, reading on this forum told me there could be some hidden problems and I should also run Combofix. I thought Norton Antivirus was completely disabled because there was no icon in the tray. I set up Recovery Console and then ran Combofix. Everything ran perfectly until it began to prepare the Log Report. Norton popped up with "Malicious Script Detected" (Combofix\SvcDrv.vbs) "Your computer has been halted" . I know it's very bad to interrupt Combofix, but I don't know what else to do exc... I was in the process of completing a repair installation of Windows XP Pro when the computer lost power. It had completed the initial stage and had just restarted and had the 39 minute countdown. I am unable to resume the installation and the repair no longer recognizes the Windows install. I've tried using the Recovery Console (bootcfg, fixmbr, fixboot). From what I understand, I need to restore the previous registry in order to continue. Where does Windows XP Repair backup these files?Your help is greatly appreciated.

Answer:Windows XP Repair Interrupted

You may want to read THIS article. It will restore the registry from the Recovery Console. You can either use an existing System Restore point or the registry files Microsoft stores at initial installation.

Since approx. 1 year I own an HP Envy 17 laptop with intel Dual Band Wireless AC-7265 adapter. From the very beginning this Wi-Fi card is giving me problems. When using the 2,4 GHz band the Wi-Fi connection has a speed of approx. 50 Mbps but is every 5 minutes interrupted. On the 5 GHZ band this problem is not noticed. However the 5 GHZ signal is much weaker and the speed is not very high (approx. 10 - 20 Mbps). I tried all possible combinations in the 20 advanced settings of the network adapter, worked on the power scheme of the laptop, etc.  I switched of the Wi-Fi protection, firewall, etc.I installed the latest drivers (from Intel and from HP).  Nothing works. Since I don't have this problem on other laptops with Realtek cards my conclusion is that the Intel AC 7265 is the problem in combination with the Cisco router. Any suggestions for improvement? Is it possible to replace this useless Intel Wi-Fi  card by a Realtek card?

Ok, I was installing a brand new 500GB Western Digital hardrive with Windows XP. While the setup was formating the new hardrive I accidentally unpluged the tower and interrupted the setup. It was only at 6%.

I figured I would just start the setup again and it wouldn't be a problem, but when I restarted the pc to boot from the Windows XP cd I received the error message:

"Error Installing Operating System"

I really don't know think anythign is wrong with the setup cd.

Any ideas would be great.

Thanks

Answer:Windows XP installation interrupted

Hi chainblaze, it might be an idea to download Western Digital's diagnostic tools to check the integrity of the hard drive as you may have accidentally caused some damage to the device when shutting down.

Hi. I'm new here. So here my problem. Recently my laptop drop from a quite high. After the accident, i cannot boot my pc. I tried to boot from windows recovery, and it failed. Then, i tried this method from this link Create installation media for Windows 8.1 - Windows Help and downloaded a recovery into an empty usb drive. After that, i switch on my pc, and plug in the usb drive. Then i choose setup from the usb (there are other options to choose from which is the windows that failed earlier). After that, the screen turn blue, with the word "setup is starting" on it, with the mouse pointer spinning (indicating it busy and really are starting). After a while (around 15 minute), the screen does not changing. I expect the screen to change to a long bar (like usual setup process), but it is not. I thought something goes wrong, and i force shutdown it by pressing the power button ( i know this is bad idea and i regret it now). Then i power it back, and this is where my problem start. The pc just showing the "Lenovo" word, before it restarting over and over again. I tried to press delete button, holding shift, f8, everything i read out there so that the pc shows me soemething like pc recovery, or recovey from usb disk or anything. Nothing happens. I tried to search for the solutions but i not found a similar problem like mine. Most of the infinite loop, their pcs shows some word, or they can press anything, but not in my case. Take the laptop, along with proof of purchase, to any business-oriented computer store, and have a tech quote you on a reasonable exploration within laptop to determine damage[s], then you will get an estimate to fix damage[s]. I doubt any software is going to work at this time.

See if you have a system restore date that existed before the problem started. If you do, use it and it should fix the problem.

If not, start the computer in safe mode and run checkdisc clicking it to repair problems.

I have a Dell Inspiron with Windows 7. My problem is that with any video, music, instructional or otherwise, it will play for only a few seconds, stop then start again after approx. a minute or so. This keeps repeating and makes watching any videos impossible. I first noticed it on You Tube, but now it is on any videos anywhere. I tried to preview a musical greeting card to send to a friend, and the audio on that did the same thing. I have only basic computer knowledge and don't want to do anything that might cause my computer to crash and not be able to fix it.

I was in a hurry, and shut down Windows 10 during an update.
Now I am locked out. My password does not work.

I turned the laptop off 3 times at the login screen and on the 4th start I was in Safe Mode. I selected a restore option and was asked for my password. It was accepted, so it is still good.

It appears that the problem is a defective login process. Is there any way, short of a reinstall, of fixing it?

It would be *really* nice if MS would tell what was preventing shutdown. I've hated messages that just say there is a problem, but give no details, since day 1.

Answer:Locked out after interrupted update

Hi, if you have a previously created system image or disk image, a routine procedure we strongly and repeatedly advocate, you will be quickly and easily able to restore your PC from your previously created image set, held on external storage.

If you have nothing like that (e.g. created by Windows Backup and Restore, Macrium Reflect, Acronis True Image, Aomei Backupper.....), you are in significant difficulty.

There's a very much outside chance you might get your PC to boot normally by restoring the backup copy of the registry, but there's absolutely no guarantee of that.

If you did get that far, I think you would find inconsistencies with your system files which would probably need an in-place upgrade repair install (which is like Windows installation but keeps almost everything) and can only be run after a normal boot.

I have been trying to send a small video by attaching it to an email (Outlook Express) but am failing. The facts as I see them are: I have Windows XP, and am on 2MB Broadband (BT). I am attaching file: MOVO3742.MPG (39.6 MB), or alternatively, file: MOVO3742.zip (30.4 MB).In case my screen saver is causing a problem, I have re-set it to start after 30 minutes.I have also tried disabling my Norton Anti-virus.I have had no problem sending still picture/text packages of say 2.64 MB.The error message I keep getting for my video files is "Your email message to ---------- was unable to be sent because the connection to your mail server was interrupted. Please open your email client and resend the message from the sent messages folder."Any ideas please?

Answer:server connection interrupted

That is way too large a file to send by ordinary email, no wonder you are getting a time out. Also I doubt that the cipients mail box space will be large enough to accomodate such a file. Try GMail, but even then you would need to split the file into 1MB chunks to send. HJSplit, a free download from tucows would do this for you. For Gmail both you and your friend would need to register an account there. GMail = Googlemail

A client brought her eMachine PC to me. Stated that Windows had been updating itself. On a restart she stated it had seemed to stall at 100% and the "Do not shut down" message. However she got tired of waiting and restarted. Several times.

On start up it now reads:
Failure configuring Windows updates
Reverting changes . . .
Do not turn off your computer

The rotating 'working' circle shows and the dots after 'reverting changes' are moving, so I have to assume Windows is not frozen and may still be salvageable, though it has been this way for close to three hours.

Keep waiting or should I get ready to nuke it?

Answer:Windows 7 Updates interrupted

Repair Install/Startup Repair?

I read somewhere that disabling Secure Boot in the BIOS, reenabling after the updates issue is fixed, could help. You probably know better than I if that would help.

I was wondering if my AGP Card is getting good flow and cooling towards it.

Right next to it, there is a big 120mm fan, pushing lots of air right next to the Video Card. I'm wondering if this is creating a sense of negative pressure or not enough cooling for the video card.

Please check the attatchment, then tell me what you think.

Thank you.

Answer:AGP Fan Air Flow Interrupted? (Diagram)

Why would that interrupt your airflow? What was another way of doing it you have in mind?

I have an 80mm fan blowing in on my video card, in the side case window. It works perfectly fine. I still retain my S-shaped airflow model, too.
