Preferred Solution: Acer Aspire 5920G Keyboard stops working now and again?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

This question is directed to an Acer user, if possible. Have just purchased second hand [used]. I'm a little confused over backup arrangments,i.e Acer eRecovery Management.I've created a recovery disk "Factory defalt disk" which works as I had to do a recovery. Am I right in assuming that the Full backup, with the option to do a fast back up later creats a recovery disk INCLUDING all the applications/windows updates etc etc. AB68

Answer:Acer aspire laptop 5920G Acer Recovery Mgmt

Hi, I believe so. I have created backup discs as well in case I wish to return to Vista later as I have downgraded to XP Home today. REason being Vista was giving me a lot of problems with my recording software.

Previously, this button would open Windows Media Center when pressed. Though it has stopped doing that and don't know why. How can I fix this?
All the other Mediatouch keys are working fine.

Hey There

First of all: I'm a studend, so I can't speek good english, cause I live in Switzerland (plz write in German if you can )

So my Problem:

I've found a Acer Aspire 5920G with Windows Vista. This was so slow and annoying . So I deleded the whole OS and installed Win 7 Home Premium x64. Now I'm searching some drivers for my Notebook. My biggest Problem is the sound driver.
In Vista, there was a tool called "Acer eAudio Manager". I want to install it, because you can switch the equalizer to movie, music and game (and it sounds awesome with the bassbooster=D). I've downloaded the driver from the website and there was a error:

"This software can only be installed in authorized machine"

what can I do to install this tool? Some other tools, like acer power management or acer enet management, works great.

I thought I ask in this forum, because there were some good topics about the mouspad and synaptic of the 5920G (wich helped me=D)

I hope you understand my question and can help me

Greetings

(And yes, I'm a real Linux fan^^ I've used always Ubuntu. This is the first time that I use Windows )

Hi everyone,I have an Acer Aspire 5920g.2 questions:The screen is broken, as in, externally is fine, but inside something broke and I have a big black stain on 1/3 of the screen.Qs1: Can it be repaired or do I need to buy a new screen? What price am I looking at to buy or repair? Will reparations be 100% good or is there a chance they won't  .... in which case better off buying a new pc.Q2: It has Vista, which I don't want! Will it run well with both W7 and XP ? Would you reccomend one of these two?I'll use this pc fo general stuff like skipe, chorome, office, itunes, VLC,  and to play WOW... of course! xDThanks,G.

Answer:screen Acer Aspire 5920g

If you go to a professional, to get a new screen, it could cost you $200+ easily.Doing the repair yourself, after you find and purchase a replacement screen, unless you've got some technical expertise, you could wind up with an expensive paper weight.Have you tried it with an external monitor?  That would be the cheapest way out, if you use the little PC at home.Just a thought.I have a Compaq laptop with a dead keyboard, but the little PC still runs great with an external keyboard, so that's the way I run it.  I don't throw anything away, if it has an ounce of use left in it.Good Luck,

Hi guys

I'm hoping you can help me with a annoying problem....

About 4 years ago i bought this Acer Aspire 5920g with Vista as the OS..
Back then i didn't like it, so i switched to XP.. Then Win7 came and i got that on board.

Now, i'm a sucker for reinstalling the OS, when i feel my comp is getting slower and always with a good result, when installing the drivers... Until now...

Now, when i try to install my gfx driver (It's an nVidia Geforce 8600GT) it goes bananas and ends up in a 256 color 640x480 resolution.....

I've tried and tried and asked friends, but no one can help me, so i'm trying you guys now......

WTF to do? :S

Thanks in advance

So here is my problem with Acer Aspire 5920G: (also I don't understand much about computers, bear with me)

One night I turn off my laptop like normaly, the next morning I turn it on for a surprise. The screen remained pitch black even though I could clearly hear windows boot up, along with other programs like skype popping up. Pressed a few random keys and thought I should restart. Same thing, no reaction from the screen what so ever, but I can still clearly hear windows starting up.

So I browse the internet and here's what I've tried:

- I removed the battery, held the power button for a while, re-inserted the battery, turn it back on >No help
- I switch my RAM cards with one another > Doesn't work
- Turn it on and point a flashlight at the screen to check the backlight, nada
- I check if the magnet for detecting if the screen is up or down is working, and it is, when I lower my screen it goes to hybernate mode, boots up if I click something
- I plugged in an external monitor (new and functional) and press the switch screen button combo, but its not reacting, the external monitor stays black too

It doesn't flicker or anything, its giving off no signs of life, but I'm puzzled because if the screen died it should clearly work on an external monitor, which it doesn't.

Has anyone encountered a problem like this? Any ideas on how I might fix it myself, and even if I can I'm still wondering about what it might be befo... Read more

I have an acer aspire 5920g and it fell on the ground it worked fine afterwards but when i went to turn it on after a few days all I got was a black screen the laptop turns on but the screen, when i use a vga lead i can see the screen on the tv perfect. I just need some help as i have no idea what to do. Please help?

Answer:Acer aspire 5920g black screen

Can you see any actual damage to the screen? Cracks etc. Look carefully all around.
Shine a torch on the screen. If you can see a dim image, there is a problem with backlight, inverter or cable.
If nothing, the screen or LCD cable is the culprit.
(cables/connectors could have been dislodged if lucky)
You'll need to open it up and have a look.
Disassembly links
Backlight links
Have a read of a few of those and see how you feel about having a go yourself.
Post back if you get stuck or need more info.

Hi guys,I have an Acer Aspire 5920g with Vista.I would like to install an operating system that is light, fast (priority) and as stable as poss.Would you recommend W7 or XP for this pc?I will use it for stuff like chrome, skype, vlc, office (word and excel), megamanager, itunes and to play wow. Answer:Acer Aspire 5920g - operating system

I'm not a gamer so I'm not sure how a particular OS would affect your game play.  Regarding the other computer usage you mentioned, I see no reason to change from Vista.  For the benefit of continuing this discussion for everyone here in the forum, please state the basic hardware specs for your computer.

Hello to All!

I stumbled upon this thread as I was looking for help after failing to install Win 8.1 Pro 64 bit from USB stick.
I'll describe below steps I took and how I got to the current situation:

1. I was using Win Vista 32 bit on the Acer Aspire 5920G-302G16Mi with the following specification:Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 @ 2.0 GHz; Cache 4 MB; Bus Speed 800 MHz
Chipset: Manufacturer Intel; Chipset Model PM965 Express
Storage: 160 GB, serial ATA, 5400 RPM
Graphics: GF 8600 MGT up to 1024 MG (256 internal memory)
RAM: originally 2 x 1 GHz, changed to 1 x 2 GHz and 1 x 1 GHz
2. I decided to install OS from the beginning and chose Win 8. Iso version was found on the web, claimed as an official and untouched one, and then transferred to stick thanks to MS tool.
3. During the 1st try I was able to see every partition. I deleted the system one (I still have logical one with some data) and created new one where Win 8 was supposed to be installed. Unfortunately error while copying data occurred. Following attempts with less and / or different RAM chips failed so I decided to transfer iso image to USB stick using other computer.
4. Using newly created bootable stick computer couldn't find any HDD drive (despite the fact that while using 'browse' option everything was visible).
5. Many tries of different SATA drivers found on the web (including Intel and other sites) gave nothing. On the Acer support site (Acer | Download) I also didn't find suitable drivers as I couldn't f... Read more

Does this happens only within Windows, or with any other OS installed? because that could be a hardware's fault.

Hello,
This is perhaps the most mysterious problem that has happened to
my laptop.

Problem: Once pressing the start button, it doesn't start up.
The cpu light display doesn't respond, neither does the screen (which is not even "on", but black,) neither does the keyboard, caps lock etc. But, the lights on the wifi + bluetooth and the light around the start button is on.

I've tried the whole "remove batter + power, hold the start button for 60sec, put back the batter" and nothing.

Some Background:
I recall this happening 3 other times. Each time having to do with my external harddrive. I remember the exact same problem occuring from some interference with the harddrive, and then my laptop miracolously works the next morning. I.e. being off for ca. 9-12 hours. This time when it happened, I plugged my external harddrive in while the laptop was starting up. Once the laptop was up and running, the laptop couldn't "see" the external harddrive, so I switched it off and the problem started.

Some info:
The external hardrive is plugged in via a usb cable, I use vista 32bit...

Any suggestions?
Thanks a lot!

Hi Folks, I just sold an Acer Aspire 5920g. I think it was manufactured in about 2008, but I'm not sure as I got it off someone else in 2011. The buyer complaned that the battery only lasts for 45 minutes.. is that bad for a computer of this life? I only used it a couple of times.. would the battery have decayed over time even while I wasn't using it? Thanks for any advice!Andrew   Computer description:Manufacturers description: The Acer Aspire 5920 with the Acer Gemstone chassis is an advanced home entertainment system equipped with Intel Centrino Duo processor technology, dedicated NVIDIA graphics, HD DVD-ROM drive and Acer CrystalBrite Technology. andy1357,

The age of the computer and the fact that it has been sitting can be a huge factor in the reason the battery is only lasting 45 minutes.

If the battery sits for a long and is not charged, then it can cause the battery life to diminish as the voltage of the battery has dropped below a certain level and ruins the battery.

test the hard with the drive maker's own diagnostic software for DOS which loads from a bootable CD. The links are here: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm...The download is usually in the form of a "CD Image" ISO file.Create a CD from that file using IMGBURN: http://www.filehippo.com/download_i...Then boot your faulty laptop from that CD.If the hard drive passes the long/extended test, consider performing a Factory Recovery but only if you already have backups of your data because FR will overwrite all data on the C partition and possibly other partitions too.

A friends laptop, during boot the screen showed 2 groups of about 10 vertical lines running from top to bottom on the left hand and right hand side of the screen whilst the ACER logo-wallpaper was visible. After booting I changed the VGA drivers to standard VGA and during reboot the problem disappeared. After loading the NVIDIA Drivers update from the Acer website, during the shut-down-restart process I had a BSOD.
Now during boot the screen is lit up but remains blank - with a CD in the CD Drive I can hear the laptop accessing it .
I removed the HDD and placed it in my desktop and this booted up normally. Could this be a Graphics card problem on the laptop or should I reaccess the HDD from desktop and delete the VGA driver files. If yes where and which (on the laptop HDD) could I find these files.
Failing all of the above is a there a "blind way" to access the boot from CD/USB option as I can't even access the BIOS so as to change the boot oprions and reinstall the OS.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I can use the keyboard when starting in safe mode but not when windows starts??? The Tried reinstalling the driver but didn't work

Answer:Acer Aspire keyboard is not working

When Safe Mode works properly but Normal Mode does not, it typically means that a driver or some software has just been installed that is interfering with Normal Mode. The types of software that can do that are drivers, antivirus products, third-party firewall products, CD/DVD burning software or virtual CD/DVD software. If you can remember installing anything like that, uninstall it in Safe Mode then restart.

I'm pretty sure my Aspire PS-131 is an All In One rather than a notebook. Feel free to move this if it's in the wrong place. This morning, seemingly all of a sudden, my PS-131's bluetooth keyboard stopped working. I charged it until the light turned blue, but the tablet no longer registers the keyboard on the Bluetooth screen. Sometimes an Unknown device will appear on the bluetooth screen, but I can't connect to it.  I have no idea what to do and I can't find anything online about it. Has anyone else had this issue? Does anyone else have an idea about where to begin? I've tried contacting Acer's live chat, but the serial number on my tablet isn't verifiable.

Answer:Acer Aspire E1-431 Keyboard is not working at all (All key).

Try using the keyboard on another computer and see if it works. If it's a USB keyboard, you should be able to use it on your father's laptop. If NO keys work on EITHER computer, the laptop is most likely ready for the garbage dump. I suppose you could try opening it up and cleaning it, but if it's not a very expensive keyboard I wouldn't even bother. Just replace it.

(i'm going to try and explain this the best i can)My Acer Aspire E15 laptop's keyboard has stopped working so I'm typing this with an external keyboard. I've only had this laptop it for a little over a year and having the keyboard just stop working is very dissapointing and a little frustrating. Anyway, I was wondering if there was any possibility of getting this repaired, because I've been informed that the keyboards of these laptops are connected to the motherboard in a way that would require getting a whole new motherboard just to replace the keyboard. I don't know if this is true or if there is anyway to repair my keyboard without replacing the whole **bleep** motherboard, so if anyone knows it would be awesome if you could help me out.

Answer:Acer Aspire E15 keyboard not working?

Not sure where they got that info. However you can replace the keyboard. That does take some doing. But I think a person would most likely replace the whole top part. That is track pad and all. I would say look on eBay for you type and see if they have any. When you take apart you remove power, battery, 14 or 16 screws from the bottom. Remove drive from the bay. Use old credit card to separate the 2 half. Then there is some ribbon cables that would need to be removed carefully. If you got the whole thing. Then put in New one same way you took out old. However if you just got the keyboard you will bee to take out 8 to 10 more screws peeling tape from the ribbon cables and to access the small screws then the keyboard can be removed. For me I would try and find whole top plate would be less work.James

I just recently encountered a problem with my Acer Aspire E3-112 notebook keyboard that I had been able to fix and would like to share the solution with anyone who may encounter the same problem. I had used a USB flash drive to copy some files without any issues. Shortly afterwards, I noticed that the 8 key on the keyboard had stopped responding, but all other keys worked as normal. I had pressed Fn-F11 (NumLk) and the 8 key started working again. Pressing Fn-F11 again disabled the NumLk mode, and the 8 key also stopped working again. I tried rebooting the notebook, shutting down and powering back up, reinstalling keyboard driver, etc, but nothing worked. To rule out Windows OS related settings, I rebooted into BIOS, and noticed that the 8 key still didn't work when I tried to change the time, but the other number keys worked fine. The solution that finally solved the problem was to shut down the notebook, and then using a paper clip, push it into the Batery reset pinhole on the bottom of the notebook for four seconds. Upon normal powerup, the 8 key started working again. If your notebook has a removable battery, then removing and reinstalling the battery might have the same effect.

Does anyone have any further suggestions that I could try? At present I'm using the 'virtual keyboard'.Thanks

If it were me, I'd try the K/B on another computer. If it works, then you know the K/B is good and the issue must be the computer it's presently connected to. This would mean the issue is likely software(drivers). You might want to check the manufacturer's website and see if there are newer Windows 7 drivers for the device. If there are, download and install them and reboot and see if your K/B doesn't work then.It matters not how straight the gate,How charged with punishments the scroll,I am the master of my fate;I am the captain of my soul.***William Henley***

Question: Acer 5920g BSOD

Hi,

I've been having this problem for some time now (more or less since I've installed win7 beta), but it's getting worse.

I get BSODs with different messages, inluding:
- ntfs.sys
- atapi.sys (or something like this)
- there was another one, relating to volume manager... can't remember exactly
- lots of generic STOP with no driver details

I think the problem is somewhere in IO stack. I can more or less replicate BSOD by intensive disk IO tasks (compiling, running virus scans...). Unfortunately, since IO dies, minidumps are NOT written.

Where do I start? How do I debug this? I've ran clamav and it found no virueses and it did NOT crash my system (so I guess HW is ok). I'll try scanning for rootkits from a livecd (if i find one). Windows rootkit detectors just crash the machine (high IO).

Ideas?

Hello everyone! First post here so be nice

I recently bought a new screen for my acer aspire 5920g to upgrade the 1280x800 supplied screen. The new screen is WSXGA (1650x900), I've managed to get to the point of exchanging the screens however it seems as though acer only have wired up half the LCD cable. Now, I thought no problem, i'll wire the rest up myself. The only issue is that i'm not sure it is possible, there are not another 8 connections on the motherboard plug to wire up...... does anyone know if this is possible?

Answer:Acer 5920G LCD upgrade

I would say no, it is not possible. The LCD screens are always matched up with the motherboard type and video pinouts

Hi All,

My laptop had a blue screen and keyboard stops working as well, I plugged the external keyboard and re-install the windows, now half of the keys are working and half dosent.

I am wondering has the kyboard damaged, I am also not sure if the I replace the keyboard will it work?

is there any settings in bios or any utility can fix the problem, could some one please advise?

Thanks
Nysoh

Answer:Keyboard stops working - USB external keyboard is fine

Hello Nysoh

On this virtual way nobody can say for sure what the problem is but if the internal keyboard is not working properly first step is keyboard replacement. If the problem still persists then troublemaker can be keyboard port or keyboard controller.

As far as I know BIOS has nothing to do with this issue.

Hello and sorry for my english is not my mother language. I have an acer 5920g. When i turn it on one day the screen was all vertical lines and the half screen became white and the other half pink and i couldnt see anything. It did it from the beggining before even show the bios diagnostic. After a lot of tries and after i connected with external monitor i managed to fix it and the laptop booted normal with no problem (with and without the external monitor). I did a couple of restarts to make sure its ok but after 2-3 restarts i show in the screen some hotizontical green lines in some parts of the screen and it get only in the loading vista bar. After a restart it shows again vertical lines in all screen and it doesnt seems i can fix it this time. Has anyone any idea what causes it and how can i fix it? Also i have the same laptop (5920g) with same characteristics but seems motherboard is not working and i wonder if the problem is in graphics card if i can change it from the other laptop i have. Is there possible to change the card in 5920g laptop??? thanks a lot.

Answer:Acer 5920g graphics problem

The graphics chip on the motherboard could be damaged by heat. It also may be that the video cable from the LCD panel to the motherboard is damaged

My Acer 5920g Laptop WILL NOT charge,

I just received it back from Acer and they said there is no fault. I have 3 different AC adapters (none of which will charge) and two batteries (neither of which will charge). I thought it may have been the plug at the back of the laptop but they say that it is working. I only have a few months left on my extended warranty.

I have wiggled the cord, I have bought new a new battery (which worked until it ran out of charge), two new chargers (one of which worked for one day, the other not at all) and sent it to the manufacturer. The OS is Vista.

Can someone please give me some idea what to do next? I have seen external laptop chargers, but I'm worried it will just be another waste of money. HELP!!!

Hey,

Since I changed my default laptop 2x 1gb ram to 2x2gb from kingston I get random bluescreens, sometimes in the first seconds watching a vid with vlc, sometimes when I haven't touch the laptop and start moving the mouse, and some other situations. 9 hour memtest shows no errors, haven't tried them separately.
Going back to my old ram (which was fine before) is not an option, since it makes starting 32 bit programs impossible (something about syswow64). BIOS update won't work while in w7 & the boot cd's I made keep loading..

Hi and welcome

With only one BSOD and very little info in it. I am going to have to be more general than I would like. This kind of crash can be caused by three things. Hardware (incompatible or bad), Software (the OS or other), and memory.
Since you have already run memtestx86 I would start by upgrading the drivers listed below. They are 3 years old and I suspect you didnt do a clean install whan you upgraded to win 7

Run a system file check to verify and repair your systems files. You may need to run it more than once. Run it untill the replort generated says no errors found.

Answer:slow startup on acer 5920G laptop

Hi,

Have you choosen what your computer starts up?
(Start >> Run >> Msconfig >> Startup and then deselect what you do not want to start up) but dont disable your firewall and Anti Virus.

Have you ran chkdsk
(Start >> Run >> cmd >> chkdsk if it comes up with convert lost chains press Y for yes)

Have you scanned for spyware, ad-aware and malware?
(I would use AVG Anti Spyware Plus Here is a quick link AVG ANTI SPYWARE PLUS

See if that makes any difference.

Recently I upgreaded my Aspire 5920G to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8 which was all working fine. As soon as I did this the network card would no longer start. I searched information on Inte'l's site and discovered that they are not supporting the particular network adapter for Windows 8.1 nor does it appear does ACER or Microsoft. Pity that Microsoft doesn't give any warning of this issue ahead of you upgrading even if you use their compatibility wizard prior to upgrading.Once it happened I frantically turned to Dr Google to find a solution and the best I could come up with was some forum about their being a confilict with the Richo Card Reader driver and that if you updated the driver of this and then reinstalled the network adapter then it would all work. I keenly followed this plan but to no avail. However if I disable the card-reader then my network adapter works. So this seems obvious to me that there is a conflict between the two drivers. Is there a way of solving the conflict - I'm not a computer genius but can follow step by step instructions!

Answer:Aspire 5920G and Windows 8.1 Card Reader and WIFI ...

I do apologize but there is no work around that I am aware of beyond what you have found. We only support Windows Vista and 7 on this product and as you have found out it looks like the outdated hardware is not supported by Windows 8.1. I understand this is frustrating, however this is a compatibility issue that we cannot resolve if the operating system does not support the hardware configuration.

Few days ago I've installed Xubuntu on my Acer Aspire 5920G notebook. I saw that blue media buttons (these on the right side of the keyboard) started to work as a mouse wheel. Using 'play/pause' with 'stop' I can scroll vertically, and using 'next' with 'prev' I can scroll horizontally. It's quite annoying, because I often use them accidentally. When I was using Windows, there wasn't any problem (buttons didn't worked). Is there any method to disable them (like in Windows)?

FN Key  + F5 (enable/disable trackpad)
Double tapping the top left corner of track pad.
Uninstalled all trackpad drivers, restarted, let windows install drivers.
Uninstalled all trackpad drivers, restarted, installed Toshiba Drivers
Checked BIOS for disabled Trackpad.
Lastly, reinstalled windows 8.

I got nothing. I'm stuck.
Any suggestions?

I just bought this a couple weeks ago and worked ok out of the box but didn't have alot of time to really play with it. When I did get time I wanted to play Microsoft Solitaire Collection to find out it wasn't installed on 8.1 however I am eligible to upgrade to 10 for free so I did. Upgrade all fine but after a few minutes of toying with it the touchscreen stopped working. So I asked cust support for help. They say it's Windows 10, I say but it WAS working on 10. They insist its windows 10 and tell me I'll need to reset the machine. So reluctantly I do and poof still no touchscreen. Couple days go by and a few reboots later and it worked again for a few minutes then gone again!!??!? So I try drivers, updates, support and nothing. Figure finally screw it I'll just go back to 10 since I enjoy it more plus my progress on solitaire is saved lol. Day after I upgraded for the 2nd time I'm sitting on the couch with my morning coffee while the pc finishes booting. Just on a whim I tell my youngest Zackary Optimus to touch the screen and see if it works and lo and behold IT DOES!!! My excitement was short lived as after 2 games of solitaire a little browsing and mixing a couple of 2pac tunes the touch screen stops yet again!! Any ideas, suggestions, or help?

I have had my aspire e1 touch for a couple months now and a couple weeks in it randomly wouldn't detect the touch ability.  I have to shut the laptop down and back on again for it to work (simple restart won't work)  It's a new computer so I haven't upgraded any os, it's running with the Windows 8.1 it came with and I have chrome as the browser.  It seems to happen when I wake it from sleep, not in the middle of using it.  When the touch is not working, the device manager doesn't even detect that touch is an option (it's hidden, but grey and cannot be enabled) Not the worst problem in the world, but terribly annoying!  Is there an easy box to check/uncheck to fix this?!  Anyone else experience this? Thank you in advance!!

I installed all the drivers for the laptop. All the drivers on this site are downloaded and installed: http://www.acer.nl/ac/nl/NL/content/drivers/5452;-;Extensa%202509. The Touchpad works for 2 seconds and then (i think) the drivers crash. I do get some DistributedCOM events in the eventlog of windows.  What I tried: FN +f7 = doesnt workinstalling older drivers = doesnt work Could someone help me?

I brought the erecovery disc from acer and it stops at 99% ,now what???

Answer:acer recovery disc stops working at 99%

Make sure the BIOS is not protecting the boot sector of the hard drive. You may need to examin the drive for proper partition setup if the recovery application is not doing that for you.

Every time I try to install Windows XP from the CD onto my friend's computer, I get to the blue screen where you're able to format/partition the hard drive and then his keyboard stops working. I don't know how to get around this because I can't continue the installation w/o the use of the keyboard. Unfortunatly, he has Windows ME on his computer right now so this issue needs to be resolved! Thanks in advance!

My ps/2 keyboard, every 3 or 4 days, simply stops working - no response at all in any application. I switched keyboards, but the problem persists. Reboopting works every time. The Device Manager shows it's working properly. As far as I can tell, no specific application is triggering the problem, although it usually occurs when I'm working in IE7. I have Windows XP.

Any thoughts?

Answer:Keyboard stops working

The only thing i could think of would be a port problem. You might try using a ps/2 -> USB adapter(if they exist <.<) to bypass the ps/2 port.

I'm having an issue with my laptop keyboard not registering what keys I type. It's been starting when I'm using Microsoft Works. I've tried a few of the different Fix It- Microsoft ATS that seemed to apply, and that works for a little while, but then the problem returns when I'm using Microsoft Works. Once the problem happens, I can't use the keyboard again at all in any program until I reboot.

There was a Windows update yesterday that I installed that I thought could be causing this issue, but I was unable to find a System Restore point available to go to that was prior to the update to see if that helped.

Other things I tried are cleaning the registry, doing a scan/Deep Clean. I'm running low on ideas, anything else I can try? Below are my system specs:
Dell Inspiron 1525
Vista Home Premium 32bit
Intel Premium Dual CPU T2370 @ 1.73GHz
Memory 2 GB

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Answer:Keyboard stops working

Welcome
Some suggestions
Stop using those reg cleaners, they may have even been the cause of the problem. If they were not, they may cause different problems in the future
Go to search, by start button, type device manager and look for any small yellow markers near the keybaord drivers. If there are, update.
If they are not, update to the most current from the company website (the company that made the keyboard)

Answer:My keyboard stops sometimes working

In this case, check if reinstalling keyboard drivers help. To do this, follow the steps below:1. Press "Windows Key" + "R" to open Run window.2. In the Run window, type control panel and hit "Enter" key.3. Go to "Keyboard" and then click "Hardware" tab.4. Click "Properties" and go to "Driver" tab.5. Click "Uninstall" to uninstall keyboard drivers.6. Restart your computer and Windows will load keyboard drivers automatically. If the issue persists even after reinstalling drivers, it is recommended to take your laptop to nearest Acer service center as it is under warranty. To do this, the following link can be helpful:http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/service Hope this will help you.

Hi everyone, so I'm having a big problem. My keyboard was just fine few days ago, but now it stopped working, it's really annoying because I have to you desktop keyboard or what it is. Sometimes it works for a moment, but suddenly windows starts to show that usb device not recognized. Anyway, I searched for the solution for my problem many times. I tried to re-plug in my keyboard, shut down pc and turn on again, I also tried to search for drivers, but then it showed that there isn't any drivers, I tried to up to date them, but it's already up to date, I unistalled drivers and turned on pc for drivers to be installed again, but it showed that it failed. And ethernet controller, SM bus controller and universal serial bus (usb) controller are with yellow thing near to them, all the time (control panel>device manager>other devices). My other devices plugged in with usb work just fine, but keyboard doesnt do it at all. Can it be the problem or something else, or i just need to buy a new keyboard? Please help!

Answer:Keyboard always stops working

It sounds as though you are using a USB keyboard? It is not a wireless keyboard is it? Did you try plugging the keyboard into one of the other USB ports for which the devices are working instead of the same one which is not working? Did you run Windows Update to look for drivers? Do you have internet access on the machine still or is it not working due to the Ethernet controller problem? If you have access, and if Windows Update doesn't get you the drivers, you might try IOBIT driver booster free if you are having trouble installing drivers. It will look for missing drivers and will update them for you.
