Acer aspire 5739G laptop stopped working

Question: Acer aspire 5739G laptop stopped working

one night i left the laptop on because i was downloading sth ... in the morning the computer was turned off and when i tried to start the thing, it worked fine up until the screen that says "Starting Windows" (i have windows 7 btw) ... and i guess right before the desktop is supposed to show up i saw a blue screen for maybe half a second and the computer restarts by itself...well the same thing kept happening everytime i tried to start the laptop...after that i tried Safe Mode, Automatic Recovery Mode, Start at previous good config., and every other option that is available after pressing F5/F8 during startup ... since that did not work i booted the computer with my windows 7 cd and tried to reinstall the OS .... after i press "Install Windows" (or sth similar) it says "Loading setup" (or sth like that) and just stays that way --and trust me i waited long enough ... since that did not work out i got a windows XP cd and tried to install it ... it loads up well enough and rite before installation the blue screen appears again (but this time it just stays there) .... the only thing i can think of is maybe that last d/l i was talking about might have been a virus or sth .... and maybe i can resolve the problem if i could somehow load command prompt and format the hard drive (i have only one partition btw) ... i read somewhere that pressing "R" just when windows setup starts should take me to Recovery Console but that didnot seem to work out ... anyway any help will be much appreciated ... oh and btw, i have a 64-bit machine

Preferred Solution: Acer aspire 5739G laptop stopped working

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Today as I turned on my Aspire V3 laptop I found the system running extremely slow. Opening task manager I found RAM and Harddrive was almost running at 100%, then I checked it was McAfee scan that came with Pre-installation that is taking up all the resources. After about 10 minutes of running like this I decided to restart my computer. However after restart many system functions are no longer working. I can no longer access task manager. either CTRL+ALT+DEL or win-r wont bring it up. Tried MSCONFIG and again it wont start after I enter the keys. System restore similarly won't start after I click the bottons. There is no internet, clicking on device manager bottons won't bring up anything, driver update bottons similarly won't bring any response,  even reset to factory default botton won't work-was able to access the menu but when clicking on bottons nothing starts. - it seems as if the whole operating system is broke.  Since this McAfee program came with the Acer laptop (it literarily says McAfee Internet security -Acer on the program menu) was wondering if anyone from Acer knows about this issue and knows how to fix it. Thanks.

Answer:Acer aspire V3 laptop stopped working after McAfee...

Sounds like the reboot came up in safe mode. Try a shutdown, restart to see if it clears up. Rebooting while in something as intensive as a virus scan / repair is seldom safe. You should always let it continue until it's finished, even if inconvenient.

Hey . I have a Acer Aspire 5739g, it had Windows Vista 32-bit when I bought it , back then I have no problems with my CPU getting warm while playing games.

Then I installed Windows 7 32-bit, and then my CPU start getting really warm when im playing games like : Modern Warfare 2 & Battlefield Bad Company 2.

CPU only gets warm when im playing games and suddenly it just turn off by itself
And then I have to wait till its cold down before I can turn it back on

God Bless You

Answer:Acer Aspire 5739g CPU problems

Check to make sure that the fan is still working. Can you feel air coming out of the vents?
Blow out the vents with canned air. DON'T use a compressor or a vacuum as this will damage components on the system.
Make sure that you run the computer on a hard surface (like a table top) and not on your lap or on a bed/sofa (or anything else that will block the vents)

Answer:My Acer Aspire 4741G laptop sounds suddenly stopped working

"I already checked the sound driver, no question marks appeared"... Do you mean no exclamation points like this (!)? If you can hear normal sound from the headset the sound driver is okay. This could be caused by a keyboard setting. Make sure the sound is all the way up and that it is not muted

I just recently encountered a problem with my Acer Aspire E3-112 notebook keyboard that I had been able to fix and would like to share the solution with anyone who may encounter the same problem. I had used a USB flash drive to copy some files without any issues. Shortly afterwards, I noticed that the 8 key on the keyboard had stopped responding, but all other keys worked as normal. I had pressed Fn-F11 (NumLk) and the 8 key started working again. Pressing Fn-F11 again disabled the NumLk mode, and the 8 key also stopped working again. I tried rebooting the notebook, shutting down and powering back up, reinstalling keyboard driver, etc, but nothing worked. To rule out Windows OS related settings, I rebooted into BIOS, and noticed that the 8 key still didn't work when I tried to change the time, but the other number keys worked fine. The solution that finally solved the problem was to shut down the notebook, and then using a paper clip, push it into the Batery reset pinhole on the bottom of the notebook for four seconds. Upon normal powerup, the 8 key started working again. If your notebook has a removable battery, then removing and reinstalling the battery might have the same effect.

hello, ive had an Acer Aspire L320 for quite a while now,

ive had it upgraded by a computer shop to make faster with some more ram and brought up the hard drive space to 320Gb and it was running fine till yesterday.

it has been running 24/7 for a while with maybe a restart every 2 months or so, and had no problems with it and now i plugged it in (after a LAN party needing space) and it wont even turn on. it turns on the fans when i plug it in and when it press the power button it doesn't respond and continues to run the fan.

I have alot of experience building computers, but this is my absolute worst nightmare because its so cramped inside. can someone direct me to what i should to to fix it or what to check and/ or replace

My touchpad suddenly stopped working and I don't know what to do about it. I've beening looking around the web for tips and tricks but to avail. I tried Fn+F7 and various similar combinatins but they don't work. I also tried going into my mouse settings to see if it was disabled. It was enabled and said it was working just fine. I then decided to do a MBAM scan because I thought it could be a virus that is casuing the problem and no threats were detected. I then read that pressing F2 during start-up and enabling the touchpad through there is an option. I tried that and the option to enable touchpad wasn't on my laptop. Finally, I read that going back into windows 8 and doing some stuff with the BIOs could help, but this is a used laptop and apparnetly used to operate Windows 8 (can't confirm though) before I got it but I don't think I can change it back. The only temporary solution I have is using an extenral USB mouse, but I want to use my touchpad as well. Help, what do I do? Thanks in advance!

This is probably in the wrong location. I could not find a Laptop area for R7 or just a general Laptop.Anyway. I am running Windows 10, never had a problem with the touch screen until recently. The "Basic Information" screen says I have no pen or touch input is available.....not true. this is a touch screen. I've used it consistantly, and without problems. I don't know what to try to fix the issue. I read somewhere that it might be a "power management setting" I tried to see if it was, I opened the Properties on each of my 3 "HID-compliant vendor-defined device" to see if there was a power management option. One did have it, but it was greyed out and unchecked. Can change anything there. I tried removing all the "HID-compliant vendor-defined device" and they reinstalled on startup, but no touchscreen.I'm wondering if the latest Windows update wiped the touchscreen out!!! Please can someone help? I'm an artist, and using the touchscreen is very important to me.-Karen

i have tried the num lock key. The number simply don't work.

Answer:Keypad on Acer Aspire laptop isn't working

How are you turning your numeric keypad? On a laptop the numeric keypad is integrated with the keyboard. In order to turn it on/off you usually have to use the Fn key and one of the function keys. On my laptop it is Fn and F11. You will see the light for the numeric keypad turn on. You turn it off in the same fashion. The procedure varies for every model of laptop so read the manual for the proper procedure for your model.

I have an Acer aspire 5755G and some of the keys have stopped working (6,8 and 9 of the top row number keys). Very occasionally they might start working again for a few minutes, or if i start tapping them hard they may start to work for a bit. But in general they don't work at all.

I plugged in a usb keyboard and all of the keys work, so I am assuming this is a mechanical problem.

I am going to attempt to replace the keyboard myself as i managed to find one video, its in a diff language but I think I can see how he does it Thay th?o s?a l?p b?n ph?m Acer Aspire 5755G keyboard replacement fix assembly guide - YouTube

However I thought before i go ahead I would ask on here is there anything else you suggest i do which might fix it. I assuming there is no way this can be a problem in the os/bios and its definitely hardware related?

I don't have any warranty left either

Thanks

Answer:Keys not working - Laptop - Acer Aspire 5755G

Hello Robwan,

Usually, if just a few keys stop working... it's a bad keyboard. This happens a lot with Gaming Computers, due to the heavy use of certain keys.

If an external keyboard works, I'd consider replacing the onboard keyboard. You can also test using the on-screen keyboard, as well.

http://laptoppartstore.weebly.com/re...-keyboard.html

A new keyboard can be purchased on ebay or keyboard.com

Hope this helps,

Hi Guys,

I'm currently facing some issues with my Acer Aspire 4830T laptop, Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit). Currently the sound on the laptop does not work at all. The playback device I am currently using is '(WsAudioDevice_383S(1))'. I have tried everything to try and fix the issue and no solution has come up to fix it. Sometimes, when i boot up the laptop 2 playback device appear on startup. This is called Conexant High Definition audio driver but it is only available sometimes and doesn't even appear on the playback devices section. I have tried going to device manager but it doesn't even appear there as well.

As well as this I have tried to reinstall it by using the Acer eRecovery tool which allows me to install default driver for my laptop. However, every time I try to install the Conexant High Definition audio driver, it says 'could not find the device for this driver'. Has anybody got an idea of how to fix this. BTW I also tried installing other sound drivers like Realtek HD audio but it just said the same thing.

This is what my Device manager screen and my playback device screen is currently showing:

Answer:Sound on Acer Aspire 4830T Laptop not working at all

Conexant is correct according to Acer, what you have is wrong and I'm not sure how it got there.

If there is no direct hardware driver installed (e.g. Conexant) Windows will install the generic, basic function, High Definition Audio Device. This system should also have HDMI Audio (Possibly Intel HDMI Audio).

Suggest you uninstall the WsAudio Device, in the Device Manager. In the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the WsAudio entry to highlight it and then LEFT click "Uninstall". Also check the box to uninstall the drivers. Then restart the PC and when Windows starts, assuming there is no hardware problem, Windows should install the High Definition Audio Device. This is not a full featured sound driver but should give you PC speaker sound. If this works OK you can then install the Conexent driver (what is listed on the Acer site for this model).

My Asprie 5739 appears to have gone into sleep mode.  When I push the power button the power charge LED below the touch pad blinks, but it does not boot, even when I hold it for a long period of time.   I removed the battery and power, then plugged it back in, tried holding down the power button with the same result.   Left it unplugged for a day, same result. Have tried to hold the power button + FN F4, still not response. Any ideas; can't find anything similar in the forums?

Answer:Aspire 5739G will not come out of sleep mode

Bbob,

If you have removed the battery and unplugged your adapter, then the notebook is no longer in sleep mode. It sounds like a hardware issue at this point.

You can try an external display to see if maybe your LCD has gone bad or is disabled, but if that doesn't work then it would require service.

Hello,

So I got this problem. I was installing Microsoft .NET Framework 4 or rather reinstalling as I needed the updated version well for something, I guess I didnt realize it was at 4 already. Anyways it was sucessful and upon reboot

I had Code 39 errors, or atleast thats what it says for the devices not working my Device Manager. Currently not writing from that computer...

Using Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

Anyways the ACER 5739G-6959 Specs:

Intel? Wireless WiFi Link network connection supporting 802.11a/b/g/Draft-N wireless LAN

Anyways, I have no viruses. I have confirmed this. I have tried well reinstalling drivers... however I will try soon to further unistall all drivers then install them fresh, but besides that other suggestions?

Answer:Code 39 Errors with Acer 5739G?

"We dont get restore CDS anymore from companies"

This is true, but do you do get a hidden "Recovery" partition on the hard drive instead, and you're supposed to create your own Recovery discs from that (using the pre-installed Acer eRecovery utility) as soon as you get your new laptop home. I guess you never read the manual properly.

Go to the Acer website & download all the drivers you need (ie the one's showing errors in Device Manager). The driver download page for your Aspire 5739G is here (just select the correct Operating System): Acer Support: Downloads & Support Documents - Notebook / Aspire / Aspire 5739G

I own an acer laptop running windows 7 that works great except I have a small problem with the touchpad. Whenever I press a key on the keyboard the touchpad dosen't work. I figure this is some problem with the driver. I have tried rolling back the driver which got rid of the problem but then also added a whole bunch off other problems because it was a really old driver. anyway this makes it basically impossible to play any games(unless I use an external mouse) because you have to use the keyboard and touchpad at the same time.

This isn't a huge deal but it would be nice to play games on the go without having to carry a mouse around.

Answer:touchpad driver issue for acer 5739G

anyone? theres got to be some way to fix this. Why would acer sell a gaming notebook that doesn't allow you to play games.

I've just got my Acer T180 desktop back from the repair shop. Everything seemed to be working fine but today the speakers have stopped working. I've tried plugging the jack into different sockets on the rear of the CPU, but no sound is coming out. Yes, I get the pop-up window acknowledging that I have plugged the rear speaker into the socket.Yes, I have tested the speakers on a separate computer and they are working properly.Yes, I have looked at the Acer support page relating to speakers. Yes, Device Manager says the device is working properly. When I phoned Acer Support the operator wanted me to do a factory reset. But surely there must be an easier way? For the record, this was originally a Vista PC that was upgraded some time ago to Windows 7 (32-bit).

This question is directed to an Acer user, if possible. Have just purchased second hand [used]. I'm a little confused over backup arrangments,i.e Acer eRecovery Management.I've created a recovery disk "Factory defalt disk" which works as I had to do a recovery. I purchased an Aspire E5-511 about a week ago. At first, I had no problems with the USB ports and what I plugged in would be recognized and work, but now none of them will recognize anything that is plugged into them. This is for multiple devices that work on other computers, so it is not the devices, and obviously it's not the hardware if all 3 simultaneously stopped working. Googling the problem has led nowhere. Additionally, the webcam used to come up automatically in the "Camera" app; this no longer works either and it says "To get started, connect a camera." I have restored the system back to factory defaults, had all files deleted and re-did the entire initial process all over again, to no avail. No idea what to do, and pretty frustrated that a BRAND NEW unit is having problems like these mere days after purchase. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Since you have already restored the compeuter to factory settings, this seems to be an issue with  connectvity of internal hardware. If you have a unit from US or Canada, you may also live chat with an Acer technician at : Acer live chatIf you have purchased the computer in any other country, you may contact Acer support here : Acer Global Support  Click the Kudos  to say ?Thanks? for helping! select "Accept Solution" if your issue is resovled.

My orbicam stopped working on my Acer computer which has Aspire 5100-5023 on my notebook. After looking up the solution online, here's what I did...which did not solve the problem:

Alt/F10
Hit Restore
selected reinstall applications/drivers
once it was finished, it brought me to a screen where I selected Windows vista. Here's where I think I screwed up. I had three choices to install a driver: Bison Camera Driver, Acer Orbicam Utility Bar (Bison), and Suyin Camera Driver. I've installed the first two at least 3X, and the suyin driver 1x. Nothing is working. Obviously I did not do it correctly.

I think everything needs to be uninstalled, then reinstalled, correct? If so, what do I need to reinstall? Thank you. Confused but think I'm on the right track. Thank you.

Hi Hopefully someone can help me fix my current issue, I have tried a few things baesd on internet searches I have done but no success yet... Acer Aspire E 15, Windows 8.1 Background (in as much detail as possible): Earlier this week I wanted to use Pokerstars, but I was due an update (I already had it installed). I updated and loaded it up, although it seemed to lag at the log in screen, so I CTR+ALT+DEL and ended it in task manager. I reopened the program and had the same issue, so I task manager'd it again and it still didn't work. So I rebooted. When I rebooted, all of a sudden I had no option of connecting to a wireless network - only ethernet and VPN in the settings. I have been into device manager and can see that I have a Qualcomm Atheros Driver in my network devices, although it has an amber warning with code 52 (driver unsigned).I tried going onto Acer website and downloading the latest driver, which comes with a set up package - unfortunately this didn't work. I tried uninstalling the driver and pointing to the driver that I had downloaded manually; but every time it tells me 'You have the best driver set up for this device' and reverts back to the unsigned driver. I have tried FN + F3 to disable and enable flight mode - no impact. I read somewhere about updating bios settings - but there are none in the download section when I put my serial number into the Acer website. I also tried downloading drivers from other external we... Description of the issue: Dolby digital plus is no longer working as it used to.  Description of actions:I had two chrome windows open, and I was watching a show in one. I paused it to watch something in the other window, and when I went back to the show, the sound was back to the low quality heard when dolby isn't on. I pulled up dolby, and saw it was on. However, the equalizer scales weren't moving to the audio, and the sound quality was still poor. Upon further listening, there is a minute change when dolby is turned on, but it's not the incredible difference I'd been experiencing earlier.   What I've done to muddle through the issue:-Restarted the PC, hoping the switch between browser windows had confused dolby. No luck there.-Checked Windows update to see if a driver or update had gone through recently-nothing.-Looked at the the drivers. Seems there's only one speaker driver, RealTek High Definition Audio, ver. 6.0.1.7300. It dates back to July, which I'm assuming is when the laptop was packaged. Weirdly, that's also the latest update from Acer, though Acer lists it as being updated November. Muh laptop:Aspire V3-572-51TR, purchased a month ago, most non-critical Windows updates ignored, not much else done to it. Edit: Now it's working on some things but not others.

Answer:Aspire V3-572 dolby digital plus stopped working

Hi... It seems to be something with the audio driver. The dolby software is included in the factory shipped audio driver. In order t o fix this issue, you may try reinstalling the audio driver on the laptop. Here are the steps: Press and hold the Windows key and then press the C key to open Charms.Click on Search and type "Recovery".Click on 'Acer Recovery Management'.Select Reinstall Drivers or Applications.Select Content and choose the audio codec and proceed to install it. In case you are unable to install this driver, you may go to Device Manager and open "Audio, video and game controllers" and uninstall the current audio driver. Then follow the above steps to install the audio driver. It will work..

HI!     So, my Touchscreen just up and stopped working on my 6mo old Acer Aspire ZE-605 (running on Windows 8.1). Since then I have talked to 4 or 5 people in Acer support. They have told me to do everything from cleaning the screen to checking, uninstalling & reinstalling the HID drivers to refreshing my computer - all of which I have done to no avail.     I think I have narrowed it down to having something to do with the driver... since my "HID-compliant touchscreen" driver is not present under the HID options. I went into my program files and tried to run a repair on my HID monitor only to get an error that the " The feature you are trying to use is on a network that is unavailable" and that it "cannot find the installation package for HIDMonitor_V1.1.5.msi". What can I do to either find and download a new (and safe) touchscreen driver OR would i just need a HIDMonitor_V1.1.5.msi installation package?? Thanks in advance

Hi Folks,  I have run into an issue with my Acer laptop which is leaving me really frusrated. For some reason one morning my touch screen stopped working. There has been no damage to my screen at all.  I have concted Acer Technical Support which in usual fashion were of completely NO help. Before I got in touch with Acer Technical Support I tried: Refreshing the HID Monitor drivers Removing/Reinstalling the HID Monitor driversBoth of these were unsucessful, according to Device Manager, the HID monitor is working just fine. Upon calling Acer Technical Support their suggestion was to reinstall Windows because the tech though that it was an software issue.  I just reinstalled Windows are still have the same issue. Device Manager shows that the hardware is fine and functional from a driver standpoint.  I've also tied ensuring that the cable behind the monitor is in tact as in this post: http://community.acer.com/t5/Notebooks-Netbooks/Acer-Aspire-M5-481PT-touch-screen-stopped-working/td... Thus far nothing has worked. Are there any other suggestions which can be helpful here?

Answer:Aspire V5-552P touchscreen stopped working

You can try the following steps:Configure the touch display:1. Go to Windows Start screen and type Tablet PC Settings.2. In the Search charm that comes up, go to "Tablet PC Settings".3. On the "Display" tab of Tablet PC Settings, click "Setup".4. Follow on-screen instructions to identify your screen as touch screen.5. Tap the screen to check if it responds. If not, follow the steps in the section below. Check if the Touch Screen device is detected:1. Press the Windows + X keys.2. Select System from the menu that appears.3. Locate "Pen and Touch" and make sure that it says "Full Windows Touch Support".4. If there is a message under "Pen and Touch" saying that the touch screen is not available, there might be some hardware issue. In this case, it is recommended to visit nearest Acer service center. To do this, the following link can be useful:http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/service-contact Hope this will help you.

I bought 2 of these laptops from Evine. The model is the E5-573T-5521 Intel core is with Windows 10.  I use this laptop mostly for my social media and email and to do my research papers. I set it up so that it powers down after an hour of non use. About a month ago I noticed that the laptop was running significantly slower than usual and the cursor was jumping wildly all over the place when I try to type anything, that the Web pages I try to load would freeze up a lot, and that the machine would just shutdown and reboot itself while I was in the middle of doing something. It has a 1 terabyte hard drive that is nowhere near capacity. I have also never dropped or otherwise damaged this laptop.  Since the past 2 days the laptop refused to boot up at all. It slowly flashes the Acer logo and the preparing automatic repair message on the screen then it just goes black and does nothing. I know that these things aren't really made to last too long, but these laptops were not cheap, and 8 months is very disappointing. I am hoping that someone can help me to get it working again. Ive tried all the generic interventions i see posted on these forums and none of them work. Any ideas?

This could be due to a bad hard drive. If you purchased these new, not refurbished or previously owned you can contact Acer warranty support from the info posted at http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/service-contact for assistance in obtaining warranty repair. If these are not under Acer's warranty you can check with a local PC shop to see if they can check the hard drive for you.

The screen on my laptop is staying black but i can faintly see my start-up page. I used it last night and it was almost dead when I turned it off (6%). I closed the lid before it was finished shutting down and then reopened it when I realised and then it finished shutting down. I went to bed and when I woke up, plugged my laptop in. A couple hours later, the charging light is still on and I try to turn the laptop on and I can hear it going but the screen stays blank. I restart a few times (by holding the power button), it still doesn't work but I notice I can vaguely see my start screen and if I press enter, I can type in my password and log in. But it's still too dark to really do anything. Any ideas on how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Hello Katie, First you can try this:1- [Fn]+[F6] - Display off: Turns the display screen backlight off to save power. Press any key to return.2- [Fn]+[>] - Brightness up: Increases the screen brightness. If it doesn't work, you could connect your laptop to an external monitor or LCD TV in using the VGA or HDMI ports.[Fn]+[F5] - Display toggle: Switches display output between the display screen, external monitor (if connected) and both.

Does any error show in device manager, particularly under "input device" ? One peculiarity of the R3 is that if you open the display past 180 degrees, it will go into "Tablet" mode and turn the keyboard off. Might try opening the display clear to 360 degrees (flat again), wait a few seconds, then close back to 90 degrees. You should see a crude keyboard display on the screen momentarily.

Hey guys, I've been using my Acer laptop for almost 4 years and the Power adapter never stopped working.. I read many threads on internet, and many of the users stated that you should leave the charger for some minutes and try other port in your house, but it didn't work.. Adapter is fully dead, can I use other brand's adapter or I have to buy it's original adapter? Help would be appreciated!

I have been having problems with my laptop's WiFi. A couple of days ago it started intermittently cutting out and it has been getting worse, dropping the connection. While browsing the web I would experience this through connection interruptions, DNS errors and no connection. Meanwhile, the WiFi icon would cycle through the connection icon, then Not connected, connections available, wired connection and limited connectivity.Today it stopped working entirely. The WiFi light on the top bar has been blinking very slowly but steadily, about 5s between each blink. I restarted but after ten minutes it failed again and now it is back to no connection. There have been no problems on the network with other devices.

Just yesterday, several keys stopped working on my Acer Aspire s7. I have to bring up the touch screen keyboard to get them to work. They are 5,7,9,-, and a capitol D. Weirdly, the lower case d works. None of the special characters above the malfunctioning numbers work. There wasn't any spill that I know of, but it's certainly possible water got on it somehow. Has anyone had this problem? Does it sound mechanical, IE water or some other kind of damage, or does it sound potentially like some kind of virus? And in the more likely scenario that it IS a water or dirt issue, does anyone know what kind of solution might be possible? Can the keys be easily removed and cleaned? I did already try the compressed air keyboard thing. Any help or ideas are hugely appreciated!

I should also add- when I start up the computer, the password box is full of the black dots as if a key is stuck.Any advice would be hugely appreciated! Thanks guys!

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and have a request for help,

I have an Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M3-581TG with the following spec:

Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M3-581TG NX.RYKEK.010

Except i'm running windows 7 and have just the 500GB HD on its own.

I only have had it since christmas and have been VERY happy with its performance so far...

BUT lastnight I switched it on and the keyboard and touchpad is completely unresponsive, when I went into control panel-hardware-keyboard there was a red "x" symbol beside it and when I ran a diagnostic on it it stated the driver wasn't installed properly and searched itself for a fix, It seemed to find something and tried installing it but then reported it wasn't installed properly.

I restored the laptop to two different previous restore points with no effect and so have since undid all restores (using the onscreen keyboard and a mouse).

I have tried pressing F2/F6/F8 on startup but with no effect....

I have seen a fix that has seemed to work for people where they disconnect the power lead and battery, press and hold the power button for 30-45 secs, connect just the battery and reboot, however my battery is internal and can't be clipped out like most laptops...

I'm running out of ideas and most driver update sites seem to be a trick to get you to install their software for free then charge you for anything else so any advice would be GREATLY appreciated, I don't want to have to get an external HDD, back everythin... Read more

Answer:Acer Ultrabook Keyboard stopped working!!

Try the following drivers.
Oddly enough, I could not find official keyboard drivers for your model, only touchpad drivers.
I'm assuming that your keyboard uses a windows included driver.

These are for Windows 7 64bit.

Answer:Mouse pad on Acer 5290G has stopped working

Welcome to the Forum

Make sure mouse pad is still turned on.
On the older acer to turn on or off.
FN & F7 turns off the touch pad. Not sure if it is still the same.
http://en.kioskea.net/faq/1902-disable-enable-the-touchpad. This May not be applicable to your computer, but I think that it might be.

Go to search type device manager and make sure that the driver is up to date
make sure thare are no yellow warning markers in the device manger

Basically I made my PQSERVICE Partition Active. Rebooted my machine and it went straight to e-recovery.2 options - I selected the option to restore to factory default.Sat and watched in awe as the system started to load a selection of pop******* image files from location D2D/IMAGES on the partition. However every time it fails on part 146, hangs then restarts the whole process of copying these again this happens 3 times then error message telling me it failed.I went to the partition PQSERVICE navigated to these files and part 146 was there and was the correct size etc, I am pretty dam stuck now as i cannot get the system restored.PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN

Answer:Acer e-recovery stopped working & is corrupt

Try to order the recovery DVD from Acer or buy a Windows install cd; whichever is cheaper.QuoteThe second cause : in this case hidden partition PQSERVICE was erased or damaged, or you replaced the disc and in this case it is not present. If you did not previously make a backup of your system by making an image disc. It will not be possible to use the D2D recovery. Your only hope will be to have in your possession Acer Recovery CD/DVD.End QuoteArticle Source: http://EzineArticles.com/794500Copying the files from the restore partition to another partition will tell you if the files are correct or the programming is correct. If the copy fails, you just found the problem.

I bought a pair of headphones (Philips SHB7000). They work with my phone and Nexus. However, when I tried to connect them to my Acer Aspire V5 they got connected but after one second they disconnected. I tried again, and the same happened. I started to troubleshoot and  updated the BT driver (though it was updated) but nothing happened. Eventually I uninstalled the BT-device (Atheros). I downloaded the latest driver (again) frĺn Acer website and reinstalled it. But now the BT device is no longer visible in the device manager or the start up screen...  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the correct (acccordning to acer support download) driver. No errors during installation. But I cannot get the unknown USB device to understand that it's a BT device. Even though it's an unknown device the computer doesn't promt this at start up. If I try to search for "new devices" it's not found. BT is forever lost on my Acer! Suggestions? RegardsJohn
