Preferred Solution: Solved: order of date

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Solved: order of date

Look at the file names, the one after the problem one is named "GPBU" and the ones above it are named "GBPU".

They are in the correct order based on the file names.

Happy Holidays, everybody!

I've got a 90th birthday picture project that I'm assembling and am getting pictures from several sources. Sometimes I'll get two or three sets of image files, all of which are labeled "img_001.jpg, img002.jpg, img003.jpg", etc. These come from several past years. When they're dumped from a thumb drive to my working folder, and then displayed, they get all intermixed. (I use irfanview to view the collection, to assure they're sharp focused, etc.)

I sorted the folder by date, went to the first file and launched irfanview. I get the selected file. If I click the "next arrow", I might get the next physical file, not the next-by-date. The program has a slideshow function that will sort it for you and display by date.

What I really want is to get the files into the date order physically on the disk, so that when copied onto a digital picture frame, for example, it will play sequentially by date if possible. I don't know that they have a lot of intelligence, to sort the pix by itself.

I tried sorting by date and the copying to a different folder on a different disk, but it always changes when I access it afterward. With 400+ pictures, I don't want to do them one-by-one.

Any freeware out there that'll do it for me?

Thanks!

Why does it say that I will receive the laptop 2 weeks from now when it says that I should expect it within 1-3 days?

Answer:Dell site says XPS 15 gets delivered in 1-3 days, the order date for my order is 2 weeks from now...

Generally when that happens there has been a burst of orders, or there is a part on back order and the sales site hasn't been updated yet. The delivery times are just estimates and could be sooner or later depending on various conditions.

It looks like the 31 March deadline for the latest Edge promotions is the date of invoice rather than the date of order. Given Lenovo's reported long build time and slow delivery (= late invoice), I suspect that ording now from the Lenovo web site will see an invoice date outside the qualifying period. Even a dealer who says he can 'get one in' may not deliver and invoice until April or beyond. I think the only option is to find a dealer who unequivocally has current stock. Can anyone shed any light on the likely position. I do, though, wonder about trying to take advantage of Lenovo Cashback at all, given the horror stories reported here.

Answer:Edge 31 March promotion deadline - order date or invoice date?

My experience with cashback is a deathly silence from Lenovo to emails asking for progress on the cash or even recognition that there has been a registration for cashback...Currently considering giving Lenovo some publicity on the matter.Unless you have a lot of time to possibly get no where I would steer clear of the alleged cashback scheme...

Answer:Getting my recent documents in date order (XP)

Not true that Start>Documents are always in alphabetical order - you must have done a right click and then Sort By Name at some time; Sort By Name is also available in Programs, Favourites etc.If you disable this it will only list the documents, files and other items used in the order they were undertaken.

Hello and good morning to u all. I have itunes on my windows XP machine which ive been using for over 4 years...i think itunes is the best music player out there, but ive got one problem that i'm hoping that can be sorted out for me here today. I have an extensive music library(like most people)...and my music is sorted by DATE ADDED,...as i'm accustomed to this way...but here is my problem...when I sort by date added...the track numbers in the all my albums appear out of order....just like here:click hereI'm sure like myself, there are loads of people that like to listen to an album in the EXACT WAY that is on the CD recorded by the artist. I know i can re-arrange this as a playlist but its a lot of hassle and it wont solve the problem in my actual music library which will still show in the incorrect order. There MUST be a solution out there.....When I listen to music I most start my listening session with the music I have added most recently. If I have added an entire album recently I want to hear the album in the order the "artist" intended it to be heard. I would think many people would be keen to hear the things they have added most recently. The lack of an option to sort by "Date Added by Track#" is terribly annoying for me.

Answer:Serious itunes problem when sorted by date order

Hello very strange....still no response from anyone so far...and ive written this post since this morning.....any suggestions/ help for me with this pls??

I'm tracing my family tree, and have quite a few contacts now that send me data by email to Outlook Express. I have created a folder for each of them in my ?In Box? as a dropdown menu, but as there is now a fair amount for each person in each folder, I want to put all the emails in date order received,(and sent). Is this possible? If not, is there any way that I could transfer them easily to an external drive maybe? I do transfer the data to a family tree program on my PC, but I need to go back to individual emails at times so that I do not duplicate items that I have sent before etc. I try to cross reference by date order in the program. Any ideas would be very welcome.

For a long time, if I downloaded a folder from Google chrome, it would go to the downloads folder in Microsoft explorer with the latest downloaded file on top. I'm not sure how I changed it, but somehow the download folder now has the looks of the music library with categories in the details view of "name","contributing artist", "title", "album". I can sort them by name alphabetically, but not by date downloaded. If I don't remember the name of the download, I'll have to search for it in this huge folder of lots of different downloads, and if it has a weird name as some downloads do, it will be difficult. Is there a way to go back to getting the downloads folder like a documents folder (or however it was) and be able to arrange them by date downloaded?

Answer:Download Folder has does not display downloads in order/by date

Right click and choose sort by date.

I'm not sure that you can change the order in which they are actually downloaded. However, you can change the order in which they are displayed. If you click on the "Received" tab it will sort them. Click it again and it will reverse the order and so on. You can also click e.g. the From tab to sort them that way.

When I download photos from my Sony Cybershot to my notebook, using Windows Camera wizard to MY PICTURES relevant sub-file, they remain in the jpg file (& date) number order. But when I view or edit them in MS Picture Manager, I find some of my photos date order has been mixed-up compared to the order of taking and storing them on the camera folder and in the Explorer/My Pictures sub-file. So, when I simply wish to view them in a slideshow sequentially they are of course displayed as well out of order. Nor can I find a facility in MS PM to re-arrange them in date order? Furthermore, MS PM will not allow me to drag & drop them back into the date order (which would be a long job sometimes with holiday photos in any case!).

Has anybody a solution how to overcome this frustrating time-waster, please?

Hi,
I would like to use a VLOOKUP formula in my bank statement sheets in order to populate item codes from a lookup table. Some of the entries (lookup values) in a statement contain a date in the form of ddmmm (e.i. 21JUL). Is there a way of creating a VLOOKUP formula that will ignore the date in the lookup value and therefore populate correct item codes into the statement sheets...for example I have several instances of the entry BANK TRANSFER ON ddmmm, where ddmmm is the date (21JUL, 11AUG, 05SEP). I would create a lookup table with a single entry BANK TRANSFER ON and the VLOOKUP formula will recognise this entry ignoring the date in the lookup value.
Hope it makes sense. Thank you in advance. Heidi

First the background: We are gradually deploying Office 2007, but not everyone in the agency has it. I have both 2003 and 2007 installed on my system, but I do my work in 2003, and none of our databases have actually been converted to 2007 format (at least, none that I work with). There are occasionally people who use 2007 when viewing databases, but I don't know if any of the people who are working in this particular database are using 2007. The problem is reproducible in 2003 and so I've been trying to fix it here. The query behind the problem report used to work. It has been a problem for several months (it is run monthly, and every month for the past five they've had problems with it) and I've finally gotten to the root of the actual issue.

The purpose of the report is to generate invoice for outstanding loans. The DateNextPayment is a calculated field based on the payment plan for the loan. It is calculated using a function in the query named qryGetSitesDDInvoices1. This is the function that is called (I did not write this function, I'm supporting this db long after the original writer has left):
Code:
Function DateNextPayment(PaymentSchedule As String, DateFirstPayment As Date, Balance As Currency)

On Error GoTo Handle_err

Dim Date1 As Date
Dim Date2 As Date
Dim Date3 As Date
Dim NextQtrDate As Date

'The code adds one month to datenextpayment at start of each month. Or yearly or weekly

Hey guys,
I have a question about coding and setting an excel file to send emails. I am using an excel file to track maintenance work orders and I would like to get an email each day for each work order that is requested to be finished on that days date. I have attached the excel file I am using, and the column that is important is C, "Date Needed" - If that date is today's date, the cell turns red and I would also like to get email notification about it. A separate email for each cell that matches today's date.

Also, if possible, I would like for it to look at all the sheets, not just the current month's sheet. For example, if a work order was filed in July but wasn't needed until September, I would still like to get the email reminding me that it needs to be finished on xx date in September.

I have attached the excel file I want to use.

I have searched all over this forum and others and have found many posts similar to this, but I am not a great manipulator of code, so I cannot get any of the other solutions to work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I have a Date/Time field that I need converted to just a Time field.

It comes back with 2/11/12 0:00:00

I need just the 2/11/12

I thought about changing it to a text field but I think there will be an issue with the month because it does not bring back a 0 in from the months with only 1 digit.

This table that I am creating is being sent to a txt file and that is where I see the issue. It looks good in Access, but not the txt file.

Any suggestions?

Hi There

I can't seem to get this line of macro to work properly

If ActiveCell<=Range("C4") then......(Some lines get deleted)

Both the active cell and Range("C4") have dates in them. This line of code does not work properly. It does't matter if the date in the Active Cell is greater than the date in Range("C4"), the macro still executes the next lines of code and still deletes lines that it should not delete.

What am I doing wrong??

Mario

Answer:Solved: Date: VBA - One date less than another date

This would happen if either or both of the cells being evaluated are not dates or if the ActiveCell is blank. Try this test to see if this is the case; in either case you should use the DateValue function when evaluating ActiveCell vs C4. This is because the VBA interpretation of a date is much more forgiving than the Excel interpretation. VBA will interpret anything that looks like a date as a date e.g. " 12/21/2013" (with the leading spaces) will be interpreted by Excel as text whilst VBA will recognise it as a date.

Code:
Sub test()
If IsDate(ActiveCell) = False Then
MsgBox (ActiveCell.Address & " is not a Date")
ElseIf IsDate(Range("C4")) = False Then
MsgBox ("Cell C4 is not a Date")
Else
If DateValue(ActiveCell) <= DateValue(Range("C4")) Then [B] [COLOR=red]'use this in your macro[/COLOR][/B]
MsgBox ("OK")
End If
End If

Hi,I've an approved RMA for full refund for an X230 that I'd purchased from Depot. The restocking fee was waived as I'd ordered another X230 (better EPP deal).I shipped back the unopened X230 and Lenovo acknowledged the receipt of the laptop on Feb 5. And since then there has been no update on my refund. The Windows Photo Viewer will not display photos in the order they are sorted by Windows Explorer.
This is not referring to the slide show feature, just the forward and back arrows.
The only order pictures can be viewed is by name despite Windows Explorer being set at view by date, ascending.
I have repaired Microsoft Live Essentials, uninstalled and reinstalled but the issue remains.
This is also not an issue with photo tags or photo names.
Windows Explorer sorts as selected but click a picture in the middle to view, click the forward arrow and instead of the next date picture being viewed, the next name picture is viewed.

Answer:Windows Photo Viewer; sorting order not the same as view order

Hi!

I upgraded to Windows 10 recently as well, I have the same problem and I also have a solution. However, I do not know, if it is ideal. :-)

What is obviously missing is an entry in the registry called DropTarget. This entry tells Windows Photo Viewer to display the images in the sorting order of the folder Photo Viewer got called from.

Non-solution:
I saw that at least in my registry there is a DropTarget defined in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\photoviewer.dll\shell\open\DropTarget. From the name of the key and from reading the docs this looks as if it would be applied to all calls to this program, but -if that actually is the case- for me this entry does not work. It has been there (at least) after my Windows 10 upgrade, also the "Clsid"="{FFE2A43C-56B9-4bf5-9A79-CC6D4285608A}" seems to be fine, but it does not do the job.

Solution:
For me, this problem was present for jpg and png files, but not for bmp, dib, gif, jfif and what else can be opened with Windows Photo Viewer. To fix this, I have added the following to the Windows Registry:

Code:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\shell\open\DropTarget]

This is my Order Number: 2FFVLJI've always owned a Thinkpad for the past 10 years and am a staunch Thinkpad fan. The R60 and Z60m have been reliable and faithful companions. I have been recommending Thinkpad to my colleagues and friends. Hence when I needed a new laptop, I went directly to lenovo's site and ordered a T510 (Web Special) on 4th August 2010 using a valid credit card. For two days the status was "in process". On Aug 6th, I was unable to login in usng the cust no and order no to see the status. When I called the sales customer service, I was informed that the order was cancelled from lenovo's side. They pointed me to the credit card department for further information. When I called the credit card department, they claimed information mismatch as the reason for the cancellation but they could not point out what exactly was the mismatch. I can assure you that the card is valid. Currently I'm not able to place another order for the same model from lenovo's site as it is no longer available. This is very regretful as I was really looking forward to getting my laptop of choice. I tried calling the sales dept but they are not available as it is weekend now (everyone needs a break ) So I have emailed them for help. I'm yet to get a response. This has been a nail biting experience. I'm anxiously waiting for the response from the sales dept. Will it be possibl... The files are in an approximate order by name; but, many files are out of order and only near where they should be. In the attached screen shot, only the right-hand column is relevant to the question. Please note that "201306events" comes before files with lower names such as "20130516beachparty".

How do I fix this?

is there a way to keep a window locked so it remains on top of another window where you are running a program? I would love to read my .html tutorial and work at the same time instead of working on my program and going back and forth to and from the window. I resized it so I could read and work at the same time but that is useless unless I can make the window stay on top of all others.

I'm sure this is a silly question, but just in case I'm wrong---I've just successfully hooked-up and configured a wireless router to my laptop for the first time. I now have 3 things to turn-on. The computer itself, the modem and the router. Does the order in which I turn them on make any difference? Thanks,

Hi,

I was browsing the information regarding pre-ordering Windows 7 in the UK for ?49.99 / ?99.99 and am relatively pleased with such an offer. My concern however is regarding information posted by MS at:

http://emea.microsoftstore.com/UK/Mi...dows-7-Preview

Now I understand that due to the forced use of the E version only a clean install will be possible; with that in mind- why does MS state under system requirements that a genuine version of XP or Vista is required to use this version to perform a clean install of 7?

It states on the page linked that "Operating System:
Must be running a genuine copy of the Windows XP or Windows Vista operating systems."

Now I would like to install this on a PC that doesn't have an OS (well is currently running Linux), so am I not alowed to buy this as I don't have a genuine version of XP or Vista that I'd like to sacrifice? It's left me a little confused. Can this be bought and installed on a PC w/o an OS? Does it actually require a genuine version of xp/vista installed?

Cheers,
Dean

Answer:[SOLVED] Windows 7 (UK) Pre-Order Concern?

themoodude, this is an upgrade option. You have to have an existing installation of XP/Vista to install. That is why it's so cheap! If you want to do an install on a clean system then the price is higher, $199 I believe.

I will very soon be in possession of a new Toshiba laptop that will be used as a desk top because of space limitations. "Ws 7" will be installed on the 250 GB HDD.

I am interested in dual booting "XP". I believe I know how to do this. My questions are:
1- What order should the OSes be installed on the HDD. If "XP" should come first, how do I 'move' "Ws 7" to a different lettered partition?

2- I want a separate partition for "data files." Where do I put this partition in relationship to the two OS partitions?

3- Once all this is set up, will both OSes be able to access the one data partition?

Thanks, {redoak}

Answer:[SOLVED] How to partition and the order of OSes on a HDD

Well, if you already have windows XP installed that you will need to use a program like Partition Magic to make your self another Partition for Win7.

If nothing is installed.

First you need to install the oldest OS for dual Boot. In this case Windows XP
In the setup you will want to make your self 2 Partitions rather than one.

Once done, you can move to win 7

Run through the setup (Very simple) and Just choose to install windows 7 in the second Partition. Becuase its done in the correct order, it will build the dual boot option for you.

I'm trying to set up WinXP on an old computer, in which I have installed the hdd from another computer which has WinXP from a that computer installed on it. The hdd drive has four partitions - 1. with WinXP (formatted NTFS), 2. a storage partition formatted FAT 32, 3. a Ubuntu 8.1 partition formatted for Linux, and 4., a small swap partition for the Linux. Everything on the drive was installed when the drive was in the other computer. I am now installing the drive back in the computer it was originally in, but I know I will have to reinstall everything, since the drivers are all incorrect drivers, etc. I replaced the CMOS battery in the old computer that I am bringing back to life, so the Award BIOS should be set back to default. Switch off all the devices modem, router and computers also unplug their power cables.
Wait at least 1 to 5 minutes,
Plug the power cords back in, but don’t switch them on.
First turn on the modem and then wait for a few minutes for it to settle and all the lights to become stable.
Next switch on the router (if a separate device) and then wait for a few minutes for it to settle and all the lights to become stable.
Now turn on your computer, You should now be able to access the Internet.

I just got a new hard drive in a computer. (Professionally installed, so I would like to think there won't be a problem with it.) The hard drive is fresh out of the box, no OS. So I put in a CD to install Windows. The CD launches okay, and the installer program starts. It asks to format the hard drive in preparation for installation, warning me that I'll lose all data on the hard drive. I tell the program to do its thing. After a little while, it reports success, and the computer reboots.

The computer finishes booting after a disturbingly short time and I get the message, "Operating System not found." This is technically correct, but the computer shouldn't know yet if there's an operating system; the Windows installation CD is in the drive, and it should be running. I try various Windows and Linux boot CD's, and the result is the same- the computer is simply not checking the CD-ROM before attempting to find the OS.

I've tried accessing the BIOS screen and manually fixing the boot order, but I can't. No matter how many times I press Ctrl+Alt+B or F2 or F12, the computer reports, "Operating System not found" and halts. I'm at the end of my rope at this point, and don't what to do but buy a new computer.

Many thanks for your time and help!

Hello gifted computer people... today's question is:

In xp the default manner in which items are listed in a folder is alphabetically, right? Well, I have a number of folders containing files which all have a date in the name but which are otherwise named identically, ie., exercise log august 2011, exercise log sept 2011, etc... My question is, can I request the system to list the items in the correct order by the dates in the document names? Being listed alphabetically, obviously, they are out of order chronologically...

Thanks for any help...

Answer:Solved: Folder list order

No you can't....Your best option would be to rename them like so:

exercise log August 2001 > 08-11 exercise log.

that will do them in numerical order

Thanks in advance,

Answer:Solved: Randomizing Sub Running Order

Hey Ersin,
The following code will run do what you ask. It is also expandable so if you want to go to 4 macros, just change MaxNumberOfMacros to 4 at the top of the code (also would need to change iterations to 4). Also it allows you to run less then all macro, by setting Iterations to however many macros you want to run (For example, you have 3 macros and you want to run 2 random ones). It prevents the same macro from being run twice. If you want to use more meaningful macro names, you have to replace the for loop at the beginning with a series of MacroList.Add statements and just add strings (and change the MacroToRun string to not add "Macro" at the beginning).
Code:

Sub Random()
Dim MacroList As Collection
Set MacroList = New Collection
Dim MaxNumberOfMacros As Integer
Dim Iterations As Integer
Dim i As Integer

MaxNumberOfMacros = 3
Iterations = 3

For i = 1 To MaxNumberOfMacros
MacroList.Add (i)
Next i
Call NextMacro(MacroList, Iterations)

End Sub

Sub NextMacro(MacroList As Collection, Iterations As Integer)
Dim MacroNumber As Integer
Dim MacroToRun As String

MacroNumber = Int(MacroList.Count * Rnd() + 1)
MacroToRun = "Macro" & MacroList.Item(MacroNumber)
Application.Run (MacroToRun)
MacroList.Remove (MacroNumber)
Iterations = Iterations - 1
If Iterations > 0 And MacroList.Count() > 0 Then
Call NextMacro(MacroList, Iterations)
End If
End Sub

Hi,

Sorry for posting this again but was advised to change the topic title.

i work for an internet business which sells on eBay. at the moment we take a lot of phone orders. obviously with eBay it keeps a record of the order on there, but with phone orders it involves so much paperwork being produced and filing, so when customers ring up to query something from a while back im having to go through loads of paperwork to find their order.

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a suitable piece of software that i can use where i would just enter details of their order, for example name, delivery address, items ordered and price etc etc. It would ideally be so if someone rings up and asks about a previous order i can open this program, click a few buttons and their order is in front of me.

im not fussed about keeping inventorys of stock levels and all that, don't particularly want anything over complicated, im good with computers and quite knowledgable but would prefer something simple.
another way i was thinking was to do my own "intranet" and have a form on there which i fill in and then it saves it on the computer so me and my two colleagues (which will become more as we expand) can view it.

i also looked into using microsoft access but not a fan of it.

any ideas would be much appreciated!!!

i've been advised to use Access and i have created a form and table etc but i was wondering if anyone has any templates good for this etc?
many thanks

I use Nero Burning Rom, not sure what version it's on my computer at home, but I'm fairly certain it's version 6 or 7, I know it's not 5. Anyway, I label the songs I want to burn (mp3 format) by naming them like this 01 - Name of artist - name of song.mp3. However, when I add files to Nero to burn them it will put them like this 01, 010, 0100. I've tried variations of numbering but nothing short of a bizarre list of number and letter combinations will get it into the correct order I want it burned. Is there an easier way to do this? I can't find any kind of function in Nero that lets you burn in the order you add individually or anything. Thanks for anyone help!
Tika

Answer:Solved: Nero song list out of order

Nero can only burn data (mp3's for eg) the ways windows allows you to view a folder's contents. (By name, date modified etc). So you do have to number or letter the files as you are doing. To get what you want you need to add zeros to your numbers.
01, 02 etc will only do for less than 10 files, for more than 10 but less than 1000 you need to go 001, 002, 003 etc. And 0001, 0002, 0003 will keep them in the right order up to 10,000.
You need the same number of digits as the highest number basically and you make up the digits with zeros at the start.

I'm trying to dual boot Vista and XP (on my old computer ), but I need to make it so that XP automatically boots my default. (Right now Vista boots by default) I think I remember some dialog in Vista, but I don't remember where it was.

Answer:Solved: Change boot order (as in, partitions)

Unfortunately, Vista isn't as user friendly when it comes to editing the boot.ini file in order to allow which selection you want to be the default. You actually can go into the boot.ini file for Windows XP, which can be found by enabling Hidden Files and Folders and Protected OS Files under the Folder Options Menu, and then changing the option for like you would want it.

I've included an example one for reference purposes:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /noexecute=optout
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows Vista" /noexecute

You would change number for the partition that starts with default in the above example to the partition that you want it to default to on the boot screen. I would also recommend changing the timeout to something like 60 seconds in case you have concerns and want to change your mind.

How do I have the files in a directory, automatically renamed in numerical order? It does not matter which file is named to what number, just that the files are named from 1 to the number of files in that directory.

For example, there are 10 files in a directory:

Dog.jpg
Cat.jpg
Horse.jpg
Penguin.jpg
House.jpg
Mouse.jpg
Eat.jpg
Burger.jpg
Fries.jpg
Water.jpg

and rename them to

1.jpg
2.jpg
3.jpg
4.jpg
5.jpg
6.jpg
7.jpg
8.jpg
9.jpg
10.jpg

Answer:Solved: Automatic renaming, in numerical order?

I do not believe that Vista can renumber groups of files in that manner. Instead, it will rename them filename (number), filename (number+1), filename (number+2), so on and so forth. To accomplish this, select the group of files, right-click the desired first one and select Rename. Rename the file and press Enter.

Hi Was wondering if someone can guide me in the right direction.

I have a form with a combo box listing 900 pupils but the list is in no particular order. How can I sort the surnames in alphabetical order and for those changes to reflect on my form.

The problem I am having is I can sort it out in alphabetic order but the changes dont reflect onto the main form.

Does anyone have any suggestions.

Kind Regards

Ranj

Answer:Solved: Alphabetical order in combo box MSACCESS.

Use a query (not the table) to sort the pupils and use that to provide the data for the Combo. Once you have created the query you can replace the current data source with it in the Combo's Properties. If you want the main form to be in alphabetic order as well use the same Query to supply it's data.

Hi all,
What I'm having trouble with is listening to music that I've ripped from my CDs onto the PC.
I rip these using Creative PlayCenter, so they go straight onto my Zen and also stay on the PC.
Each CD is created as a new folder, with the tracks inside it. Here's the problem.
When I use WinAmp to play one of these folders (File>Play Folder), it plays the tracks in a random order - not the order they are in on the CD.

Is there a basic setting I can change somewhere, so the files will be automatically played in the same order as they're listed on the CD? Or do I have to resort to creating playlists of every CD I rip onto my PC?

Any help with this much appreciated!

Hi

I am having trouble copying files using Windows Explorer (XP SP2)

I have a digital photo frame and want to display the photos in date order

I copied 500 jpg files from various directories on my hard drive to a temp directory and sorted them by “Date Photo Taken”. Using Explorer’s bulk rename facility I renamed the files Xxxxx (101), Xxxxx (102) etc to Xxxxx (500). I then copied these to a SanDisk Ultra II photo card.

However when I put the photo card into the photo frame, the display was not in the correct order. It started at file 132 up to 500 then 101 to 131. I then deleted all the files on the SanDisk and tried again several times. It never put 101 first but the starting file was always different. I also tried a Sony MemoryStick Pro with the same result

I then tried copying the files to another directory on my hard drive. It is difficult to read the display counter accurately cause it goes so fast but I could tell that it didn’t start at 101 and after file 500 it stared at 101.

So why does Explorer do this and what is the solution?

Hey there...I'm not sure if there is a way to do this, but someone let me know if it's possible: I'd like to make sure that when my notebook computer starts up, the network connections (ethernet/WLAN/bluetooth) are initiated before any software programs (like Comodo firewall or my antivirus software).

It's annoying me that I get network error messages from these programs at startup because the network/WLAN boots after the programs do. Is there any way to make it so that my network connections boot before everything?

Thanks,

if your network and firewall is configured correctly, there should be no problems with your network connections.

Hello, all.

I recently purchased a 2GB micro sd card for my LG VX8550 phone. I don't have any problems transfering files or listening to music. However, I need help solving an annoying problem.

In the Album category of my phone's playback options, the songs get arranged alphabetically.

What's somewhat confusing about this is that on my PC (from where I'm loading the memory card) the songs I have in my individual album folders always have numbers before the titles to make sure they're played in order (01, 02, 03, etc).

It seems that the phone dismisses the manually inputed name of the song and reads the title digitally, and arranges the playback alphabetically, thereby usurping all sembelance of order, which is annoying when I want to play all the songs from an Album and find them playing all out of order...which is even more frustrating when listening to "concept" albums.

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Answer:Solved: Songs Not In Order On Micro SD Card

Ok...Here's the deal...

VCast Music software only reads music alphabetically for songs that are imported from our own music libraries. This is because the software sorts based on ID tags.

I resolved this by changing the ID tags.

It's a very simple process, but very tedious as it involves tagging each individual song that I want played in a certain order.

Right Click on an MP3 file. Go to Properties--->Summary Tab

Make all the necessary changes (in my case, adding 01,02,03,04 etc before each song title that I'm going to be playing in album mode).

Anyway...now that this is resolved, I hope this thread will help someone in the future.

Cheers, all.

Hey folks,

I have an ASUS K55A laptop computer and I bought this particular laptop as a birthday gift earlier this year. This laptop is pre-loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium edition (64-bit version) and it is powered by an Intel Core i7 Quad-Core processor at 2.30Ghz. It has 8GB of RAM (DDR3 type RAM) on my system.

Using CPU-Z in my Windows 7 system, I determine that my BIOS update is loaded with this version: K55A.204 (BIOS date 03/13/2012). That BIOS is provided by American Megatrends Inc.

I couldn't remember which particular key that I have to press in order to access the ASUS BIOS during the POST (Power-on-self-test) process.

Anyways, what are your suggestions to this situation? Is it really necessary to update the BIOS for my ASUS K55A laptop?

Answer:[SOLVED] Is a BIOS update necessary in order to run Windows 8?

In order to fully support Windows 8 I suggest you update the BIOS.

Asus has an EZ Flash feature which allows you to update the BIOS from the BIOS...

I want to organise a folder and upload it to the web. When others download it I want to files/folders in that folder to be in a particular order. Is there a way to do this? I know you can save a "desktop.ini" to keep a particular folder icon so is there something similar to this that I can do to keep the folder order?
Thanks

I am looking at a friends computer that has some issues to say the least. I ran malwarebytes and removed probably 150 trojans. Now it has Rootkit.0access.h on it and possibly a boot sector virus as well. I am not interested in saving anything on this machine, I just was to put a clean install of Win XP on it. At start up when I try to access the Boot device using F12, it either ignors it or freezes up. It does the same when I try to access setup with F2. I can bootup in safe mode using F8 most of the time. When I try to Install XP it goes through the motions until it tries to boot from windows setup then I get a blue screen of death. Any help will be very appreciated.

Do you know i think I'm getting stupider instead of wiser! My Outlook Express (the only one I use) has started listing my emails in the strangest order; sometimes alphabetically, sometimes with no apparant logic at all. Now I KNOW that I have probably done something totally stupid without realising it. All I want is to be able to access my emails as they arrive. Please help!

Thanks

I have a HP Deskjet 970CXI printer and WXP-SP2 is my computer operating system. Whenever I print a multipage document, the printer always prints in reverse order, that is, the last page is printed first. Even though I select "front to back" in the printing options, it still prints back to front. I have tried selecting "back to front" but it still prints in reverse order. This is especially annoying when I print a multipage document and have the printer print on both sides of the sheet andthe last page in my document doesn't have text for the reverse side. Printing begins with the last page and when the first page is finally printed, there is only text on one side so the document has page 1 and the reverse side is blank instead of being page 2. Then page two and page three are on the same sheet etc. I need to have page 1 and two on the same sheet. Anyone have an idea how to resolve this?

Answer:Solved: Printer Prints in Reverse Order

if nothing else go to the HP website
I think they used to have live support and you could explain what is going on.

This is the first time I've seen a computer with a boot order that can't be changed. It's a rebuilt Dell E520. When I go to the bios, it lists about 7 changes that can't be made, and one is the boot order. It boots the HD first and the CD/Rom second. period! So is there some other way I can run the Reinstallation CD so I can repair whatever it is that's making this machine seem like it's got the FengXing Infection? Thanks, Bahb

Windows repeatedly asks me to update with the little yellow exclamation mark in the tray but it always fails and then keeps asking over and over again. It's trying to update something I don't even use I think PowerPoint or something; I had the option off at one point for those programs so it wouldn't keep asking but then a message pops up saying are you sure you want to leave these off you might need them.

Any ideas on how to get past this?

I used to get my "main" folder with the sub folder (sent, delete, etc) in alphabetical order. Now They have reversed, they are sorted Z-A, not A-Z. Again, the main folder, I.E. by E-mail address. How can I get this back to sort A-Z?
Thanks

There should be an "office" forum for just Office suite questions, then a Sub directory within that for different versions of Office, just a thought. Many people have questions on MS Office like Access, Excel, Word, etc.

There is a forum for Office applications , it's the Business Applications forum so I'll move this there.

I have to print a report each week which runs to around fifteen to twenty pages each time. When I print this, I would like the pages to come out in reverse order automatically, to avoid having to sort them, so that page one is on top. I go through the routine: File/Print/Properties/Page Setup/ and then tick "Print from last page". This is fine, until the next week when I have to do it all again! Is there any way I can set this as a permanent feature for my reports printing? Thanks for any help.

I have Ad-Aware SE Personal, CCleaner, EasyCleaner, Microsoft AntiSpyware and Spybot-Search & Destroy. I update and run them at least once a week. My question: Is there a particular order in which that they should be run? I have been running them in random order and was just wondering. Thanks.

Answer:Solved: Preferred Order Of Running SpyWare Programs

CC and Easy are not Spyware programs per se, they do however clean things residing in temp folders

It really doesn't make any differences as long as they get run

AS it stands now I think MS gets more, then AA then SB

Hi
I have a Asus laptop with windows 7. I’m trying to reformat the hard drive. I know I have to start the computer from the CD drive with a copy of windows 7.
I’m having a problem getting the “boot” bios to change the order of starting up.
The screen has the following:
UEFI Boot [Disabled]
PXE ROM [Disabled]

Boot Options Priorities
Boot Option #1 [PO: WDC WD6400BEVT …]
Boot Option #2 [P1: SlimtypeDVD A …]

Hard Drive BBS Priorities
CD/DVD/ Rom Drive BBS Priorities
>Delete Boot Option

I tried to use the +/- keys as per instructions to change the order under “ Hard Drive BBS Priorities”, but nothing happens.
I don’t know what the rest of the stuff means.
I’m not that smart with computers. I figure hands on is the best way to learn.

Hi,

I just upgraded to windows Vista, and I've noticed that when I sort files by "Date modified" on my desktop, Vista puts the newest files first, and the older last. I don't want that. I'd like to have newest files last like on XP.

How can this be done?

Thanks in advance

I have a table which has got 2 keys. I want to list the table with the 1st key being DESC and the 2nd key Ascending. If I set the table properties with the "ORDERBY Key1 DESC,Key2" when I open the table with a double click it opens correctly sorted. HOWEVER if I create a Combobox on my main form with the data source being that table, the corresponding drop down table is NOT in the correct order. How can I cause it to be in the same order as the properties of the table specify?

Answer:Solved: ComboBox List Table sort order

You should not really bother sorting Tables as data should not be viewed in it. Data from the table does not obey the table's sort order, so to overcome this use a query to get the data sorted the way that you want. Access sorts from the left first.
You can sort your combo's data by opening the Row Source SQL and adding the sort to that, do not "save it" close it and when Access asks if you want to save the SQL say yes.
