New Computer SLOW Loading Web Pages- Computer or Internet prob?

Question: New Computer SLOW Loading Web Pages- Computer or Internet prob?

Hey guys, I just got a new Sony VAIO NS Series yesterday and I think it is satisfactory so far EXCEPT for the fact that the web pages load so slowly. For example, the pages on this website requires that I press refresh or press "enter" on the web address bar a few times for the page to load. How can this be? This computer is new! Could it just be the internet coincidentially being slow? Is it the computer's problem and should I be concerned? Thanks!

My computer can be found here along with the specs: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9370165&type=product&id=1218093001336

Preferred Solution: New Computer SLOW Loading Web Pages- Computer or Internet prob?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My computer has been slightly slower than usual...and when checking the McAfee site it stated that the 6 trojans found were that of a low threat....I'm just double checking that it didn't miss anything because my computer's been kinda slower on loading internet pages since the scan. I am aware Mcafee is not the best tool for scanning but my folks paid for my computer and the program came with it. I have to keep it til it expires. Also any advice for site advisor's that tell you which sites have viruses? Mcafee's is useless.

Lately, my computer has been very, very slow, with some pages just not opening at all. I fear I may have come across some sort of bug, amongst other things. Yesterday, while typing, the letters were entering the browser at a snail's pace, and some were just changing--on their own! Some of my online games (Text Twist in particular) just won't load at all, as happens with some web sites. I also have something on my desktop that I just can't delete--and I've tried everything. Watching videos is just awful because it's stop-and-go--if they ever load at all. I'd also like to know what I can remove or delete from my desktop (I already have too many items in my "start" menu", so I can't put them there). I try to use disk cleanup as much as possible, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I'd also like to know how to add memory to my computer, as it seems I don't have much. Just before my transition from Comcast to Verizon, my computer went through hell, which may or may not have been the cause as It's worse now than before. Thank you for your help.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Seems that my computer has good days and bad. Somedays it is extremely slow while online (but laptop connected to same network is fast). I don't know if the updates from Windows has anything to do with it, but it seems that computer slows more and more everytime an update is installed. I'm not sure if this is what you need, but here is my HijackThis log:

I'm having trouble with pages not loading when I'm on the internet (using Netzero and Internet Explorer). It seems to be secure pages mostly (every time I want to order something online, or when I go to a company's application center and try to apply for a job.) The pages aren't just timing out and trying to refresh over and over again doesn't help.
Also, I am on my second printer (HP 3740). Granted, it's not top of the line, but I just bought it because my old one was broken (I thought) and now it is starting to have the same problems as the last one, and the problems started about a week after I bought it. It started with the printing getting faded, like the cartridge (which is brand new) was running out of ink, then it went through the motions of printing but no ink was on the paper. Next it will stop moving, even though the power light comes on. That's what the first printer did anyway.
Besides that the computer is incredibly slow. I know that NetZero isn't the fastest server, but I've been with them for about a year and these problems started about 6 months ago. That was about the time my boyfriend decided he knew everything about computers and started adding and deleting software like it was going out of style. I'm pretty sure this is all his fault but I'm not sure how to fix it now.
Please help!! I know enough about computers to get online, but that's about it.

Greetings!

I have a Windows 8.1 laptop that has been having problems for a bit now. It is slow, web pages are not fully loading, and Flash crashes nearly every time (using Firefox). I have run Malware Bytes and Windows Defender. Nothing has been detected. I have done all of the system updates, defrag, disk cleanup but it hasn't made any improvements to the problems.

Thanks for your assistance!

I am having trouble with my laptop. It says I am connected to the internet, but whenever I open a browser( Chrome, Firefox or IE) it doesn't open any web pages. I get the message "the remote device or resource won't accept the connection". And it's not the router because we have another laptop in the house connected to the same router and it works fine. I have a Lenovo V570. Also my laptop works fine on other connections and routers, just for some reason doesn't accept this one.

UPDATE: Finally got Avast going on it, and it picked up mbr:cidox-e in the bootfiles, and this is apparently a high severity rootkit?

I've tried 'fix automatically' and 'repair' and both times it crashed the computer.

Hello and welcome to TSF.

Apologies for the late response. I don't see the Ark.txt. Did you have problem running GMER?

If you still require assistance, we would like to see the latest state of your system. So, please try getting a report from GMER with the instructions below and also post a fresh DDS log as it has been a while since you posted, and we'll take it from there.

Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here to your desktop. Double click the exe file. If asked to allow gmer.sys driver to load, please consent .
If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan...click on NO.

Click the image to enlarge it

In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following ... Sections
IAT/EAT
Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
Show All (don't miss this one)

Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" or it will save as a .log file which cannot be uploaded to your post.
Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and post it in reply.

**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOKIT" entries

Okay, here I am again. I've already posted regarding this problem, but I thought I had it fixed when I restored my computer to factory settings. No such luck, the problem has returned. This time I will be more specific about what is going on. I can not access any microsoft web pages, I can not update, I can't access my hotmail account, can't use messenger (kids are going crazy without it). I have had norton installed and ran a scan, no problems detected. Now i uninstalled it. Please let me know what to do now. I personally think it has something to do with Messenger not being compatible with Vista, so for now I've uninstalled Messenger also. What are some good free virus and spyware programs that I can run? Here is my current Hijack log.

Answer:Computer loading internet very slow

Hello, my name is Pizza and Pepsi and I will be trying to help you solve your problem.
Besides the internet, is anything else slow?

Try to run these scanners:
Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (aka MBAM): http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free to your desktop.

Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes'
Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When completed, a log will open in Notepad.
Post the log back here.

I have been experiencing strange issues on my laptop this past month. First off, I have to say I once installed a program called SSPro or System Surveillance Pro to see how it worked. I followed instructions on how to remove it, but I am not sure if files still exist that are causing problems. In addition, I ran an Panda Active Scan and had found a file called KillProcwin.A and also followed some other instructions on how to remove that. Anyway, I notice that my computer in general is very slow to start up. Then when I try to do Internet searches or simply click within a web page, it freezes up. I do Ctrl-alt-del when pages are not responding and have to end programs. I also notice that when I shut down my computer I see a message about having to end program hpcmpmgr.exe. I have tried to shut down/restart several times today. The last time I opened Internet Explorer I received a message, "Instruction at 0x7c910193 referenced memory at 0x1440db62. The memory could not be 'written.' Click OK to terminate or CANCEL to debug. This is becoming extremely frustrating so any help on these issues is much appreciated. Here is my DDS text and attached are the files you requested. Thanks!

This is my first time posting a question on bleeping computer. We are so thankful that you are out there to help us and not rip us off. I think my computer is infected. My desktop starts up very slowly, my internet connection is slow (it's slow in pulling up websites and some never come up). I'm getting lots of pop ups (even though pop up blocker is enabled). When I go to open the control panel, a flashlight pops up as if it is looking for it (it eventually does open but it takes a while). I had a problem at one time with a lot of POS.TMP files and followed advice from posts on this site to get rid of them. Well, my current problems started when a friend downloaded a music program. I believe it was called Soundman. When I noticed the computer acting funny, I went into the control panel and deleted it along with some other programs I found (PPC Booster, P2P Max, Ron Tool Adsoftinc, Wyzo, Eco Bar). Any help will be greatly appreciated. Hello. for the last week or so my computer has been running slow everytime the internet loads. The computer never used to run slow when the internet was loading. And it even runs fine every once and a while. Some examples are.-When I browse web pages I usly look at more then one thing. I use firefox, so what I do is while one page is loading I open up another tab and look at that site. But recently when the other page is loading the computer runs slow.-Is used to be able to watch gamespot videos. What would happen before is.... It would load 25% of the video then play that 25% while the other 75% is loading, and the video would run smooth and fine. But now I can only watch the video once it is 100% loaded, because once it has 100% loaded the video then the internet isn't really being used.-When playing cames at teagames.com the games run slow because the game is constantly loading. It has been doing that for over a week now but I was playing it 2 days ago and it was running fine, but most of the time it is really slow.It has been doing this for about a week now. I have run four diffrent virus scanners (AVG, Trend Micro, KasperSky, stinger virus scanner) and I have no viruses. I have run spyware programs (Spybot, Pest Patrol, Spyware doctor, Ad-Aware) and I have no spyware. I have also run programs like CCleaner, ewido, tuneup utilites 1 click maintenance, and diskkeeper. After running everything the computer still runs slow when loading stuff off the internet. Answer:Computer runs slow when internet is loading

Well, I hope you don't have multiple anti-virus programs running at the same time. That could slow down your system. Is the computer performing as it should when not online? I'm wondering whether the problem is actually your Internet connection. Have you ever ran any Internet speed tests? I suggest visiting www.dslreports.com and running a speed test and tweaks test. If you create a user account and are logged on when you run the tests, you can save the results and then see your results compared to others. You may have issues you need to discuss with your ISP.

Hello! I am afraid that my computer is taking its sweet time doing seemingly everything. It is a Dell 530, running Vista Home Premium (whatever that means), and is just all around running poorly as compared to what it used to. I have done the 5 steps asked of me before posting and it still is running poorly. Slow download speeds, unnecessary restarts (which are inconsistent-I know this doesn't help being inconsistent, but it's true). About a month ago, I had Dell support take a remote look for me and at that time the rep had disabled almost all start up programs in msconfig screen. I am not sure if this matters?? My reasoning for using the Dell support was because some websites (such as jsonline.com, and ebay.com) wouldn't load the pictures and instead would have red x-ed image where real image was supposed to be. If there is anything I am able to do, I appreciate your help in doing so!

Someone please help!!!! My computer will not load internet pages, or if it does it is very slow. I'm surprised I was able to get to this site. I have run norton internet security, windows defender, superantispyware, and vundofix, which have all come back with no problems showing. I have cleaned everything up and got rid of many of my media files and have run a disk defrag and still the same problem. Registry mechanic will not work for some reason. Another problem is when I'm viewing a page my computer usage jumps to 100%. i can not view multiple pages like i used to be. i have defraged, removed files i do not need. practically cleaned my system out. I have read to many forums and post and my brain is starting to bug out. Does anyone know anything that i am lacking? also its not my internet connection because my roommates comps work fine. any ideas would be deeply appreciated or should i just get a new comp?. My McAfee subscription expired and I have now loaded AVG Anti-Spyware and ZoneAlarm. Since then my PC has been a bit temperamental (sometimes slow to load web pages or not loading them at all). Could you advise if there are any problems. From time to time the PC will crash altogether and I have to switch the power off/on to get it re-started. I have recently de-fragged as well, but no real improvement in performance.
Around the same time I was trying to download IE7 and it kept failing. The Window help suggested de-activating all Firewalls (I also have SpySweeper) but it still did not complete IE7 download. I have not bothered trying anymore but wondered if something hasd got through while I had no Firewall.

I have posted aHiJack This scan in the relevant forum and Old Timer suggested posted the questin with yourselves as he was not able to see anything wrong.

I hope you can help.

Answer:Slow Running/internet Pages Not Loading

Hi there,

I use AVG and Zonealarm too, but don't experience what you are. Having said that that there could be glitched between the two that are preventing you from accessing the web.

In the meantime I would personally get hold of the latest updates for AVG, ZoneAlarm and any other spyware/adaware program, disconnect from the internet (unplug your modem/router) uninstall your current defences (AVG, ZoneAlarm etc), then add your firewall (ZoneAlarm) following the on-screen instructions then add your spyware/adware/anti-virus software and do a full system scan.

Forget about IE7, stick to IE6 (reinstall that too).

Hope that helps

Hi, I'm on a Windows XP Home, Toshiba Laptop, SP2, and yesterday I downloaded a file that was, unknown to me, loaded with trojans....I used SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes to remove them, and those scans now come clean....However, now my internet pages, no matter what browser I'm using, load REALLY slow, for example to get this page to load took about 2-3 minutes, where as before it would be pretty much instant, as you can imagine this is very frustrating....I have ran CCleaner as well, and right now am running Auslogics Disk Defrag, but nothing is helping, any suggestions would be great, thanx....

Hello BC,
I have a funny but serious malware problem. When watching Jersey Shore full episodes, usually the ads played in the player- But then on one of the episodes, when the video player went to advertisement, an advertisement "popped up" blackening the whole screen. I thought this was unusual since the ads usually had been playing embedded within the player. I (mistakenly) clicked the "X" to get out of it. Following this, an ad began to play within the player per usual.

After the embedded advertisement began to play, I immediately got malware on my computer. My bottom-left icons began to change, and my antivirus appeared hijacked because a message appearing from avast popped up alerting me that I had been infected with a "worm". I knew immediately that I had been infected with something, and that the message was originating from the 'worm'.

I immediately shut down my computer and restarted in safemode. I attempted to perform an avast virus scan and windows defender scan-nothing. I then restored my computer back to a restore point created a few days prior using the System Restore function. I then started up in safe mode and attempted to Uninstall the Firefox browser from which I had acquired the virus. Firefox would not uninstall itself from Add or Remove Programs so later on I manually deleted (most?) of the firefox files.

Now none of the virus scans performed online or downloaded have detected a thing. Advanced System Car... Read more

A couple of weeks ago pages started to load very slowly on my desktop when using Firefox. I suspected my Belkin wireless adaptor as my laptop was working fine with Firefox and the same BT home hub,and same security (Comodo Firewall and Avast). Having bought a new wireless adaptor I still have the same problem. The internet connection signal is good and the Avast boot time scan shows clear. I suspect, therefore, this may be a Vista issue. Any ideas/suggestions would be gratefully received.

Answer:Internet Connection good but pages slow loading

Disable your Windows firewall if it is enabled and see what that does to your connection speed. Try disabling the Comodo as well.

Purchased a Compaq V6210 with Vista Home Premium. Works great, but decided to get a different notebook and my sister will get this one.

Purchased a Gateway with Vista Home Premium. OK notebook, but 4200 rpm HD was too slow AND it took literally 1-2 minutes to load web pages (via wireless) that the Compaq loads in 2-3 seconds (or less).

Don't know what caused this and didn't care because I was returning it anyway.

Purchased a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4467 (Intel Core Duo T5200, 1.6GHz, 1GB RAM) with Vista Home Premium. Great notebook, but has the same slower than dialup web-surfing characteristics of the Gateway. Don't have a clue what the most likely cause of this is. Can't do a clean re-install because none of the manufacturers include the Vista install disk, just the lame restore CD (except the Gateway, got to hand it to them there, they included a restore disk and a true Vista install disk).

Perhaps there is a simple fix for this? Someone told me to remove Toshiba's Config Free. Tried that and it didn't help. Any ideas?

My internet started to become slow out of no where and I didn't mess with my router/modem or any computer settings so I'm guessing it's a hardware problem. Pages take a while to load, some don't load (Unable to connect to webpage message), or sometimes they won't load completely. I've had this happen 3 times over the past years, even with different routers/modems/ISP's, my internet would be working normally for a few months and then it'd dramatically get slower. I've always thought it was my router causing the problems, potentially screwing up and degrading my modem's performance. It must be that Netgear routers are awful, as that's the only brand of routers I've had over the years.

I'm on my desktop, and have my modem connected to my router. I'm connected to the internet via cable since my desktop doesn't have WiFi.
Got 58mb/s download speed and 12mb/s upload speed on speedtest. Any ideas on how to fix the problem?

Edit: I have the same problem with every browser if you're wondering.

Ok I just got my virus/spyware situation resolved earlier today but now my internet connection is really sluggish. I took the recommendations given by greynight in the anti-spyware tutorial and downloaded and installed all the things listed there. However now my interent is hardly running. I'm not sure what to do. I have dsl and my interent is running as though it's on a very bad dial up connection at best. This is just terrible.

I'm not sure where I should be posting this. I chose here because I feel these problems are a result of programs I may have downloaded after coming to this part of the forum.

Please help or direct me to the appropriate area.

Thank you,

Download HiJackThis - this program will help determine if there's any malware on your computer.

1. Double-click on the file you just downloaded.

2. Click on the "Unzip" button to install the newer version.

3. It will by default install to the directory - C:\Program Files\HiJackThis\

4. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose - Do a system scan and save a logfile.

5. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit [Scan] and then click on Save log.

6. Post the HiJackThis.log file

Running Windows XP. Internet Explorer 7
Internet Explorer constantly giving not responding message. Pages are slow to load, some never load. Constantly getting Not Responding Message and Internet Explorer becomes completely unresponsive. This problem just seemed to begin several days ago.

Steps that I have taken to help problem:
Updated MalwareBytes and ran scan. I also ran MalwareBytes in Safe Mode. Scans showed nothing found.
Ran scan on Microsoft Essentials. Scans show nothing.
Made sure all Windows Updates are up to date (I have windows firewall turned on and have automatic updates turned on)
I have run a scandisk/checkdisk. I believe it said it repaired one bad sector
I also have AFT Cleaner installed, which I run about once a week
I have no other malware or virus protection installed other than MalwareBytes and Microsoft Essentials.
Computer analyzed and said I did not need to defragment
Only using 25-30% if harddrive
Checked with Internet provider. They said we are having no problems in my location area.

The only program I have installed in the last several months is Skype

Any suggestions.

Answer:Internet Explorer Slow, not loading pages, not responding

Hi

How other browsers work ?. My personal choice is chrome and it works fine for me.Your IE version is 7 and it is fairly outdated. Latest is IE10 but Microsoft didn't even released IE 9 for XP. Sticking with an outdated browser is a security risk. Also a large number of websites require at least IE 8 or higher. I strongly recommend consider using an alternative browser or at least upgrade the Internet explorer version to 8.

I share a wireless router with 4 other people. All of a sudden my laptop internet speed took an extreme downturn. And it is only my laptop that has been affected, everyone elses is working at the same speed.
So usually if I ran a speedtest the download speed would sit at around 700kbp/s. Now it's barely at 80kbp/s.
The upload speed is sitting at 749kbp/s so it's pretty normal.
I've restarted my computer with no luck.
I've deleted all my cookies and temporary internet files with no luck.
I ran a virus scan (I use AVG Anti-Virus); it came up with corrupted executable file (Quicktime) so I removed that. This hasn't helped the problem.

I really don't want to have to pay heaps of money for a technician to come to my house and try and fix it. It's weird that it happened all of a sudden but I need to get it fixed.
Any ideas or suggestions? They would be MUCH appreciated as it is a very frustrating problem!

Answer:Suddenly EXTREMELY slow internet browsing and loading of web pages

Have you connected with a wired connection to the router to see if this is a wireless issue, or some other problem?

For wireless connection issues, I'd like to see this.

Download and run this Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector, click the Networks link on the upper left and paste a screen shot of that screen here. Note that this application requires NET Framework to run. If you get an error about a missing function, download and install NET Framework. For machines with no Internet connection, download this NET Framework 3.5 Full Package on another machine and transfer it with removable media to the problem machine.
To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file. To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.

With a wired connection, boot in Safe Mode with Networking and run this PingTest and also this SpeedTest and post the link to the results here.

I've been getting a problem utilizing Firefox and even IE (which I prefer not to use). Basically, pages have been loading pretty slow recently. At first I thought it wasn't that unusual, but when playing games online (WoW specifically), I'm not getting any high ping or latency issues. I also don't get any slow down on downloads, which is puzzling me. I only have problems just going on the internet.

There are also moments when I have to re-enter an internet address multiple times. For example, if I were to enter "gmail.com" on the address bar, it won't load, but still say "Done" at the bottom as if it loaded a web page or something. I'm afraid I might have some keylogger or some malicious content. Should I start changing passwords for e-mail services and anything else that requires a password?

I tried running Ad-aware, Spybot, and Symantec to clear up any issues, but I still have the same problem.

I have a Dell Dimension 8300 computer that is running Windows XP. The computer has 2 GB of Virtual Memory; I have ADSL High Speed through the phone company with a direct connection to the router. I have defragged, cleared out the Internet temporary files, cookies etc and use McAfee each week as well AntiSpyware and Registry Boster weekly. HAve cleaned the disc as well.

I have an intermitment problem the last few months where some days it takes forever to load a web page and often some of it it and then forever for the rest. I usually hear the hard drive spinning loudly like a whirling noise as well. It's virtually impossible to work with when it is this slow. I must add that on some days it works fine so I'm puzzled as to how to fix .....hoping someone can help me here.I have included the HiJack this Notepad file below. Thnaks for your help.

Answer:Slow Loading Internet Pages - Whirling Hard Drive Noise

You can test the HDD using the drive manufacturers disk tools (available from the drive manufacturers website). Run the short and long test. That will verify the drive is good (or bad). Any errors on either test and the drive is likely faulty.

With that said, drive usage/access in and or itself does not indicate a problem.

Hello,

My name is Aman and I'm trying to fix my parents CPU. They have a tendency to download a lot of crap without first checking that the source is legit.

The CPU runs Windows 7 64 bit.

The specific issues are when Chrome or IE are being used. The browsers are always redirected to searchnu/406. I have changed the start page back to google and that works at startup, but when a new window is opened it goes back to ask.com. I have also noticed that pages are regularly not loading fully and it takes 3-4 times hitting the reload button to finally load, sometimes they don't load at all. I am also noticing that the internet connection seems slower than before (they have ATT DSL) and the cpu in general is running a bit slow.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Aman

My laptop has recently started acting up when it comes to using the internet. I have tried unplugging the router and clearing cookies. Firefox is loading pages extremely slow and will not load some pages like Facebook at all. Please help me if you can. Thanks!

Answer:Laptop internet issues - Firefox running extremely slow and not loading some pages

Re: Laptop internet issues - Firefox running extremely slow and not loading some page

You cleared out just your cookies?
In Firefox press Crtl + Shift + Del you shall them be prompted with the catagories for tempory files to do with FF, clear all the ones you deam you can (maybe not passwords).
Once you have done that lets do a quick little maintenance run on your machine just to make sure they is nothing else bogging down FF.

Click Start then Run (or Windows Key + R) then type Cleanmgr and hit enter. It may take a while to do the first stage where it is organising the files it can deal with especially if you havn't done this for a long time.
Once this is done check all the types of files you wish to clear and click ok to delete those files.

Do you have anything like SmileyCentral or web search bars installed? If so lets type removing/disabling them. Start -> Control Panel -> (Set to classic view) -> Add/Remove Programs. Thumb through the list and remove any of the earlier mentioned types of programs.

Also I suggest you run Spybot search and Destroy and an Anti Viral check on your machine just to be safe.

Please tell me if any of this works or what the situation is like when you have done this and from there we can batt on with some more ideas

Good Luck.

Antony.

My computer as been very slow when loading pages or responding to commands. I've checked the running possesses and it all looks normal. I haven't downloaded any new programs that could cause this reaction. I've checked for viruses with AVG and nothing comes up. I'm at a loss as to what the issue is. I'm thinking about wiping the whole system and starting from scratch by reistalling the OS but I don't really have the money to pay an online back up service and I don't want to lose my data. I would appreciate any feedback from any IT guys that are willing to help. Thanks, david.

Answer:computer is very sluggish when loading pages

Hi David. It sounds like your computer is infected with viruses. Scanning with just AVG, especially they free version, will not find some viruses. I recommend downloading a spyware or malware remover from a legitmate site like filehippo.com. Also you will need to reset your browser back to factor settings; In Internet Explorer 8, go to the advance tab in the internet options menu and click "Restore Advance Settings" and also click the "Reset" button under that.If this is too much for you, I highly recommend that you take your computer to a computer repair tech because when it comes to removing viruses, you can really damage your computer.Hope this helps

This is a brand new Acer Aspire x1430g desktop. I cannot get some microsoft websites to load and windows live messenger will not sign in. Is it possible that Windows 7 is not compatible with my Westell 327 router/modem? Is there a setting that needs to be changed?

Welcome to the forums.

Are you using that computer to post here? If so, are you having trouble with only certain websites, or anything microsoft.com? What error exactly is the browser showing you?

I'm not really sure how to describe this so I'm sorry if I seem a bit vague.

Whenever I'm browsing the internet on my laptop, for some reason there will be a random moment when my browser will sit for ages trying to load a web page, and then give me an error message along the lines of "the web page is unavailable".

I check that I'm still connected and, according to my computer, my network is working fine.

Then if I disconnect from my network and then re-connect, the internet is up and running again like nothing's happened.

Sometimes I can go for several hours before it happens, sometimes it happens every 5 seconds.

Is there anything I can do to stop it?

I'm connected wirelessly on a laptop that's running Windows Vista Basic, and my default browser is Google Chrome.

I'll be grateful for any advice.

Answer:My Computer has Trouble Loading Web Pages

I have a very similar problem, except my browser does not load pages at all. Please let me know if I should start a new thread.

Other computers at home are connecting through the same wireless router without issue. This problem has existed for couple weeks, I do not recall what was the last change.

I have tried the following:

Browsers - IE, FireFox, Chrome
Connection - WiFi and LAN connection to the router
Ping - to www.google.com works (33ms)
ipconfig - ip assigned
Anti-Virus - disabling AVG didn't help

Thanks for your help.

have a Gateway/EMachines. with an AMD 64 single processor. I meg RAM, Vista home Premium. I use ATT/Yahoo broadband.
I know Im week in the RAM dept as Ive heard that Vista needs 2meg to run smooth. Usually when i have a real problem the darn thing is loading or updating something I didnt request.
How is it possible to see whats running in the background when this happens and maybe stop it. Windows update nearly drove me nuts until I figured out it was trying to load a huge file(and failing most times!). I stopped that but Adobe does it as well as AVG and some other junk. I want to have it set so Im at least asked before it starts a DL! I always thought it asked but that was because I no longer use that free fire wall(cant recall the name,DUH!) I had to many conflicts with my broadband getting locked out.
I hate vista with every fiber of my being! I loved 98SE. Even for a novice it was so user friendly and this monster requuiores a 4 year degree just to get it to run. It takes hours for a virus scan do to the # of files in Vista as well as being a nightmare just to shut it down. I need to figure 10-15 min to reboot!

I did a hijack this scan. I used to know what all the junk was now Im lost.

Hello,

Today I downloaded a bunch of software to clean up my computer:
SpeedUpMyPC
RegCleaner
Iobit Uninstaller and Advanced SystemCare 5

I cleaned up a couple of things and when I opened firefox, some pages do not display correctly. It works normally on Chrome, so I think it's a problem with firefox and not my computer.

I've attached screenshots of both browsers on the same page of the "Posting Help" section of this website to compare.

I have tried uninstalling firefox and reinstalling it. Then I uninstalled it and reuninstalled firefox beta. I've restarted my computer multiple times.

I hope there's a easy fix rather than restoring to the point before I used all those computer cleaner softwares, because it took a couple of hours to do all that cleaning.

(To Chrome fans, I know Chrome is a good browser, but I use both Chrome and Firefox and would like to have Firefox fixed )

Thanks!

Edit: Oh, one more thing. When I go to gmail on standard mode, it NEVER loads. The red bar isn't even red. I have to switch to html. I have no problem with this on Chrome.

Answer:[SOLVED] Pages not loading correctly after computer cleanup

See if the "Cleaners" you used are reversible. If not, try a System Restore. I see you're a first time poster here. Most of our staff firmly recommends not using Registry Cleaners. Vista usually doesn't need cleaning up. The built in (Start>All Programs>Accessories>Disc Cleanup) will do the job.

Hi,

I appear to be having trouble with my firefox browser.

My operating system is Windows 8.1. I have an Acer Aspire V3-772G which I bought some 18 months ago.

System details:

Processor: Intel® Core i7-4202MQ 2.2GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz
Installed Memory (RAM) 16.00 GB DDR3 L Memory
System type: 64-bit Operating, x64- based processor

A few days ago my firefox browser, which for no apparent reason at all, just seemed to slow to a stupendously very slow loading of pages. I had recently just been working on an issue in which I posted a thread regarding whether there was a possible virus/malware after google chrome terminated with the following message from Hitman Pro Alert:

Attack Intercepted
'Google Chrome 49' has been terminated to prevent execution of malicious code. Please check your computer for malware and software updates

As it happened, it appeared to be because of a conflict somewhere in the Google Chrome, Trusteer Rapport and Hitman Pro Alert combination, and so the only way was to change the settings on Hitman Pro Alert as advised and shown in my thread:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/611273/possible-virus-or-malaware/

However, there was no malware or virus detected by my own Avast or Malwareware bytes tools, and the tools used as instructed in the thread also showed my system to have none. Also, google chrome works fine, and my computer has not slowed in any way. My fir... Read more

Ok, this just happened recently and I don't know what is causing it. I'll try to give u a brief overview of the situtation I'm in. XP used to be on my D driver (74gigs), it got screwed up (BSOD) at the time, I didn't know as much computers, so I installed XP to my C driver (4 gigs). This has worked pretty fine up until when SP2 was released. I can't install SP2 because XP takes up about 4 gigs by itself. Without SP2 I just have been running some extra firewalls so compensate.

Well about 4 days ago, I noticed whenever I open up my computer it takes like 7 or 8 seconds before the hard drivers appear. Then I went into network connections to look at my internet icon (to check the settings). I opened it up and nothing was there. The only thing there was on the far left it was asking me if I wanted to setup a network ( my internet is working on all the computers). I have ran 2 different spyware scans and found nothing, ran mcaffee scans and nothing. I can't restore my computer because all the restores got deleted when I was trying to free space on my drives.

Where do I go, usually I can solve tech problems but I mean this is beyond weird? What do I do first, if you need more information just ask because I really need some advice.

Hi newbie here so go easy on me

My mum has a realtively newly built PC (about 2 weeks old), and has XP Professional installed along with Norton Antivirus 2003.

She is using dial-up internet with an external modem, and although her default homepage (bbc) loads straight away after that browsing becomes progressively slower and slower. Some pages do not load up at all after a while and she is forced to turn off her connection and try again. She cannot access any secure sites at all (for her internet banking and buying things). She has cleared her cache to no avail.

I have been told to see if a firewall is blocking secure ports 443, 84 and/or 8443. I'm not sure how to check that? I'm not even sure she has a firewall installed at all?

Should she try Mozilla Firefox? Should I install Norton?

I've checked her dialup internet provided (lineone/tiscali) and there appears to be no problems?

Help :grinthumb

The problems started about 10 days ago with pages being redirected and random pages opening in a new tab, mostly about Walmart. My computer has been slow and sometimes files won't open at all. I have to restart my computer often. I am using Firefox and have WindowsXP. I have read the post about what to do before requesting help and have done them all. The three requested logs are posted below. Thank you.A few examples of the redirects:cptgt.com - I see this one is some form the most, just for a fraction of a second, then the page is redirected.http://plxlestatservlce.com/Tz741gaP8y5XR2O7f6eba5a52c995159e95e4c96f4e09f9e37khttp://plxlestatservlce.com/JZn0h8lx6f5Juis6c1158205a48787cc5cddb899e44233a828xhttp://113594url.cptgt.com/cpv.jsp?p=113594&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2F%3Fref%3Dlogo&context=&ip=174.156.55.230&selectedKeyword=ron&selectedListingId=7797683tazinga.comrivahttp://www.registrydefender.com/l/indexsg.asp?utm_medium=ctx&utm_campaign=mg1&utm_source=ron3594&utm_term=ron_113594http://www.redeemyourprize.com/single-wm-ea?trkID=148049113http://www.redeemyourprize.com/single-wm-ea?trkID=147334616http://www.redeemyourprize.com/single-wm-ea?trkID=152365855http://www.redeemyourprize.com/single-wm-ea?trkID=146138403http://freegiveawayoffers.com/weeklywinner/http://weeklywinner.s3.amazonaws.com/winner.htmlSUPERAntiSpyware Scan Loghttp://www.superantispyware.comGenerated 12/... (TDSSKiller.2.1.1_22.12.2009_19.33.44_log)Please download ComboFix by sUBs from HERE or HERE and save it to your Desktop.During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.**NOTE: If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:Tools->Options->Main tabSet to "Always ask me where to Save the files".After that, double-click and run Combo-Fix. Let it finish its job and post the log hereIf ComboFix asked you to install Recovery Console, please do so.. Hello,

So usually I can fix these things myself, but I just can't figure this one out!

Webpages are freezing up randomly, when they freeze I cannot just close them normally, I have to ask them to "end now" and then all the pages open close. It's fun. Oh yes.

Also all of a sudden my comupter is super slow, the internet and everything. Do not know if this is related or what.

And when I run Search and Destroy, sometimes it finds spywear but sometimes not.

And NOrtons one button check up is always finding Program integrity things wrong.

So here is my hijack log:

The computer is only a few years old and was the fast reliable one in the house. Sometime after a scan by PC tools, which I did regularily, it became slow to respond in bringing up pages. The little blue circle would just spin on the screen. If you were on a page and hit a link, it again would be slow or not even respond to that click of the link. AVG shows no viruses, Malware Bytes Anti -Malware shows nothing, I've defragged and run CC Cleaner and it doesn't seem any better. I also did a system restore to before that last scan. It's an HP with AMD Athlon running windows 7 with 4.0 GB of RAM. Thanks

Hello.. not a computer expert here at all..
While there are other sites( MSN) that also are slow loading I will just go with Yahoo Sports.. It is getting slower and slower to load and to switch pages.. 30 seconds and more.. some complete hang ups.. notices that internet explorer had to close and re open the web page.. try to refresh and it might just throw a white blank screen up until you refresh again or close out and start over.. oh and the occasional script error
Now most sites and browsing is ok. but Yahoo... MSN.. and occasionally others are just not right..

Any ideas.. Thanks in advance..

Oh and I called Microsoft about this and had a long wait time so they took my number and said I would get a call back in 226 minutes... LOL... the call is now 125 minutes late so I suspect I will not be getting help from them..

I have Comcast Xfinity High Speed Internet service, which is supposed to be fast, but everything is very slow to open. Sometimes, it will sit several minutes without opening the web page or not at all. I have unplugged the modem, disabled, enabled, and repaired the conections, but it doesn't work very well.

I have an HP Pavillion 6000 series laptop, running XP, and am using the IE 6 browser.

Is it possibly a virus or maybe too many programs running in the backround?

Please help! I'm not able to use the net very well, and at $57 / month, the performance is little better than dial up!

Answer:Computer has suddenly become slow to bring up pages, sometime does nothing

1) If you are talking about the "registry cleaner" in PC Tools you are doing more harm than good.2) CCleaner is an essentially benign utility that has absolutely no effect on computer performance.3) Contrary to the title of the thread it sounds as though your only issue is with the web browser and not the computer in general, is that correct? If so, have you tried a different browser just as a test? If not, please do so.

Hi:I am having issues with my computer(actually it's my sisters) first it kept rebooting over and over again and so I used Norton 360's bootdisc feature and that seemed to help. Everything loaded up normally or so I thought.Did I mention my sister has a habit of downloading things when I have told her constantly NOT to do this? Bearshare and Limewire and goodness know what else that I don't know about! What I have tried so far;I have done a complete scan with malwarebytes but found nothing. Ditto for Norton 360. However, I ran a scan using SAS and found some cookies that I didn't find with CCleaner and they looked very suspicious.I did a scan with Ad-Aware and found the following and deleted them.Trojan.Win32.Generic.pakcobraWin32.toolbar.Mediabar831Win32.ToolbarI did a defrag and even used Registry Mechanic to get rid of registry entries left over by Limewire and Bearshare but the computer is still slow as molasses running up a hill on a cold winter's day. There still must be some serious problems as her as her computer is slow as HECK! It takes what seems like a millenium to open folders, applications etc. and the same goes for closing things. Right this second as I am typing this message the cursor just seems to hang and I have to wait until it starts up so that I can finish typing. My computer isn't slow except when I'm connected to the net with Firefox 37.0.1 or Chrome 42.0.2311.90 to download pages and sites which take a long time.

I had a look on the internet for a solution and got the following:

PCHealthboos.link

Tweak Bit (Microsoft Partner)

Reimage
Super Anti spyware but I think I would probably do more harm than good as most of them get into the registry.

I have scanned with MalwareBytesAntiMalware and ESET 8.0.304.0 which have shown no problems.

Any suggestions please

My computer is lagging badly; mostly on the internet and especially with pages that have high graphics or are very 'busy'. I stopped using IE because it would lag so bad and freeze up. I started using Firefox, which worked great at first, but now it lags as well, but doesn't crash. I'd really appreciate someone looking over my log and helping me clean it up. Thanks!

I'm really getting frustrated! Maybe someone can help.......

Lately in the last week or so my computer has really slowed down. The pages are starting to freeze when i try to close them.......takes forever. I've been using the ATF cleaner on a regular basis to clean things out. Ran a resent defrag. I've now been just shutting down the computer and restarting......I heard that this helps and it seems to for a short while......takes about 20 mins until it starts slowing down and sticking again........I looked in the Windows Task Manager and noticed that the "usage" for Inexplorer is much higher than all other processes.......

I've learned all this fun stuff from searching around on the computer for help but now i seem stuck.........

Any ideas.......I'de sure appreciate it........

my uncle recently came into possesion of an amd dual core computer which had been built by his friend and sold to him,

there is a problem with it, although. The exact specs of the computer are and AMD Dual Core 2.0 ghz per with 2 sticks of 512 mb ddr (2?) ram and a Maxtor 80 GB ATA HDD and im not 100 percent sure but i think a VIA motherboard also with a nvidia geforce 7800 256mb graphics card.

The problem i am having is that , whenever something inolving a large amount of loading is involved, the computer acts very slowly,
for instance, when running a really low memory virtual tour (which is his business) he find that the loading screen for a map on par with myabe..duke nukem or doom 1 takes way too long to load, i find myself waiting for a good amount of time for HalfLife 2 as well, maybe 5 minutes to load the demo's 1st level and when i play it..it freezes up to reload some more every couple of seconds making it almost impossible to play since its freezing up again and again.

, if you have any info its all helpful, thanks in advance
please help!

Answer:slow loading on amd DC custom computer

Have you downloaded the latest Vid drivers? Also are the specs in the BIOS set right. You might try to go into BIOS and check to see if your vid settings are set proper and that all your other settings are right also.Do you have the motherboard book?

My computer often takes *way* too long to load pretty much anything and runs extremely choppy even when given the simplest instructions/commands in windows. The HardDrive light begins flashing and my computer slows almost to a hault. It is almost unusable at times.
Could it be my hardrive? or anything else?
Any help is greatly appreciated ! Thanks !

system specs:
Intel Celeron 2.0 GHz
128 Ram

Hard drive Specs:
Barracuda ATA V
Capacity: 60.02 GB
Speed: 7200 rpm
Average Seek Time: 9 ms
Cylinders: 1023
Heads: 256
Sectors: 63

Answer:Computer loading very slow with WinXP

My guess is that you simply do not have enough memory installed, because it is actually sort of amazing that you are able to run at all with only 128 mb of RAM.
It is hard to comment on whether the hard drive is part of the problem without knowing the space used and the free space.
But anytime you have limited memory on Windows XP, you are likely to have some problems with the fragmentation of the data.
It would be good to know the age of your Seagate Barracuda hard drive, as well as the computer itself.
You will likely need to go up to 512 MB of memory, or hopefully more, to correct the speed problems you described.
Be aware that you may be at risk of losing or corrupting valuable data if something is not done about your configuration.

the My Computer folder suddenly started taking over two minutes to "searchlight" the contents. They then pop up quickly and seem to function promptly. Yet everything I try to (or have to) run through there loads and operates just as slow - say 2-3 minutes to load a picture. Even closing out of a window or picture takes so long it seems frozen. CPU usage during this time is nominal, 1-2%. All icons, programs, internet access work fine outside this "bottleneck". Suggestions?

Answer:My Computer folder slow loading

Hello DBurgess, Welcome to TSF!

Windows? does have a couple of built-in 'garbage cleaners'.

1: Right click > Internet Explorer Desktop Icon > Properties > Delete cookies > OK > Delete Files > Tick the box > Delete all offline content > OK ...now click the Content Tab > Clear SSL State > OK .

2: How to use the Windows? XP Disk CleanUp tool. ( Click the coloured link. )

These two utilities will help keep the HDD 'clean'...use them both regularly, as well as using The Disk Defragmenter once a week.
Both of them will only delete the unnecessary 'garbage', whereas other system cleaners can remove vital files.
I have got into the habit of using Method One every night as part of the shutdown process, and Method Two once a week.

3: Is your computer running slow? This article is also worth a good read.

4: Go Start > Run > type in the box msconfig > Enter.
This opens the System Configuration Utility > StartUp > list here are all the programs that are set to start with Windows?.
Untick those that you do not want to start with Windows > Apply > ok; the computer will want to reboot; allow it to do so.
If you are unsure which programs are safe to disable; post a list here and we will advise you.

Please Note: Do Not disable your Anti Virus or 'real time' Anti Spyware programs.

Upon restarting, a Pane will open stating that you have a... Read more
