Preferred Solution: Solved: Windows Mail - Date Order

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Solved: Windows Mail - Date Order

Select View --Sort By-- and check off Received and Descending.

Answer:Solved: order of date

Look at the file names, the one after the problem one is named "GPBU" and the ones above it are named "GBPU".

They are in the correct order based on the file names.

Happy Holidays, everybody!

I've got a 90th birthday picture project that I'm assembling and am getting pictures from several sources. Sometimes I'll get two or three sets of image files, all of which are labeled "img_001.jpg, img002.jpg, img003.jpg", etc. These come from several past years. When they're dumped from a thumb drive to my working folder, and then displayed, they get all intermixed. (I use irfanview to view the collection, to assure they're sharp focused, etc.)

I sorted the folder by date, went to the first file and launched irfanview. I get the selected file. If I click the "next arrow", I might get the next physical file, not the next-by-date. The program has a slideshow function that will sort it for you and display by date.

What I really want is to get the files into the date order physically on the disk, so that when copied onto a digital picture frame, for example, it will play sequentially by date if possible. I don't know that they have a lot of intelligence, to sort the pix by itself.

I tried sorting by date and the copying to a different folder on a different disk, but it always changes when I access it afterward. With 400+ pictures, I don't want to do them one-by-one.

Any freeware out there that'll do it for me?

Thanks!

Why does it say that I will receive the laptop 2 weeks from now when it says that I should expect it within 1-3 days?

Answer:Dell site says XPS 15 gets delivered in 1-3 days, the order date for my order is 2 weeks from now...

Generally when that happens there has been a burst of orders, or there is a part on back order and the sales site hasn't been updated yet.  The delivery times are just estimates and could be sooner or later depending on various conditions.

It looks like the 31 March deadline for the latest Edge promotions is the date of invoice rather than the date of order. Given Lenovo's reported long build time and slow delivery (= late invoice), I suspect that ording now from the Lenovo web site will see an invoice date outside the qualifying period. Even a dealer who says he can 'get one in' may not deliver and invoice until April or beyond. I think the only option is to find a dealer who unequivocally has current stock. Can anyone shed any light on the likely position. I do, though, wonder about trying to take advantage of Lenovo Cashback at all, given the horror stories reported here.

Answer:Edge 31 March promotion deadline - order date or invoice date?

My experience with cashback is a deathly silence from Lenovo to emails asking for progress on the cash or even recognition that there has been a registration for cashback...Currently considering giving Lenovo some publicity on the matter.Unless you have a lot of time to possibly get no where I would steer clear of the alleged cashback scheme...

In Vista Windows Mail is it possible to sort mail using different parameters in different folders? Some email clients allow you to do that, e.g. Saved Folder: sort by Received/Descending, Inbox: sort by Received/Ascending.... and so on.
I find that currently if you set one, it sets them all.
The reason I'm asking this "so late in the day" is that I've just switched to (a hacked) VWM in my Windows 7 and 10 OS's from Incredimail, which was driving me batty.
This is not that important but thought I would ask.

While using XP, I used Pegasus mail as my e-mail client. Pegasus's mail filtering options included the ability to set a duration on a mail folder such that any message in that folder, older than the specified duration, was automatically moved to the deleted mail folder.

Is there any way to achieve the same thing using Windows Mail under Vista?

Thanks

Hi:
Windows Live Mail/Windows 7

I set-up 3 different e-mail accounts this summer and all works fine. However, one of e-mail accounts I've been using most is sitting all way bottom and the less and unimportant e-mail account sitting all way to the top and it's easy access and very visible. I need to use the mouse to get the mostly-used and important e-mail account to read every time I access WLM e-mails to read.

I want get the most important e-mail account to all way top, instead less-important e-mail account sitting all way top.

Is there a way to bring my most-used and important e-mail account all way to the top?

Thanks for any help in advance.

A friend of mine has a strange request. You know how in the RECEIVED column of Windows Mail (formerly known as Outlook Express), the date and time are written as follows, e.g., 6/26/07 10:50 p.m.

My friend wants to change this format to what she calls the Universal Dating System, namely as follows 26/6/07. I have looked in vain to find a setting to change this but cannot.

Is there a Windows system setting for this? Or is the setting someplace else?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I have created a macro that automatically generates a number of e-mails with a "due date" field. However, when the outlook e-mail is generated it displays the date due in mm/dd/yyyy. I am using a c.Offset (#,#).Value to pull in the date on my excel spreadsheet but even if I change the formatting on it it still pulls in with month first then day. Hi,

I am in dire need of a solution wherein I want outlook to shoot an automatic email based on date from calendar or excel. Basically I have some users assigned some privileges which are assigned for a specific period. I need the mail to go out to them may be a day or two prior to the target date.

I came across this thread:
http://forums.techguy.org/business-applications/1129238-automatic-outlook-mail-due-date.html

I copied the code the in outlook VBA editor (i already have one script there and since being new to this i do not know if two scripts would be ok to have in there.... ...ScreenShot attached). However just to try when i ran the rule it gave me an error (screenshot attached).

I can't reply to the same thread since that is closed.

can you please help in this regards...

Hi all,

I know there has been a lot on this subject (so apologies) but as my knowledge in this area is limited and as I can't find anything that matches my exact needs I am struggling.

Basically, as part of my job I manage records in the office but I sometimes forget when things needs renewing etc.

What I would like is a for an e-mail to be sent through and to my outlook when a date has been reached.

Please see the attached: CSCS.xlsx

If CSCS tests had to be done every year for example, Paul Smith would be due another on 01/01/2014. I would like to set up a code so that when it got 2 weeks before that time, I got an e-mail saying 'CSCS Test due' and 'Smith' (i.e.. cell C1 and Column A for reliant person, in this case A3).

Is this something that is do-able and easy to set up?

Thanks, charli

I've had Windows Mail working well on Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit for over a year with no problems until very recently.

A problem started 3 days ago.

I have my Contacts List set to show alphabetically starting at A, and until 3 days ago, the Select Recipients box showed in the same order. It's now showing in the reverse order - starting with Z.

I can't find any way to alter this and can't find any references to the problem.

Any ideas for a fix please ?

Robert.

Answer:Windows Mail Select Recipients box show order

I thought Windows Mail was only available in Vista? is it possible you are using Windows Live Mail.
Have to take a guess about Windows Mail , immediately above the contacts is there a box saying name like you get in Windows Explorer click it & it probably reverses the order.
Windows Live Mail look on the Ribbon in the View section for Sort by there are only two option's First name or Last name.

When I Add a New Contact to a Contact Group in Windows Mail, a list of all contacts is displayed in Name order, i.e., in first name order. This is very difficult to use. How can convert the list to Last Name order? I have done this with the main Contact list displayed by Windows Contact by adjusting the items and their order in the Details list. But this does seem possible with the Add New Contact list.

My sister told me that her Windows Mail is really strange. I can't help her because I don't use Windows Mail so I am asking on her behalf.

a) When she opens her Contact list , the names are in alphabetical order (which is expected) .However when she composes an email and clicks on the "To" button , the name list displayed is not in alphabetical order by name but strangely ordered by email addresses. Is there a way to rearrange to resort by names?

b) When she types a name in the Address area ie in the box next to "To" , another page opens for search. Is this normal ? With Outlook ( which she used to use until she changed to a new computer running Vista) when you type the name a list of potential email addresses appear. IS there a way to fix this?

Thanks

Answer:Windows Mail Contact list and email address order

I'm piggybacking on here because I have a similar problem. I imported my address book from Outlook Express and now when I begin to type in the name on "To" line it doesn't find the contact. For example if my contact is Joe Smith, I use to be able to type in Jo (and the auto fill would kick in) Now I need to remember Joe Smith's email which might not be anything like his name ([email protected]) How do I organize my address book like it was on O.E.? I want them alphebetically by first name, not by their email address.

Answer:Getting my recent documents in date order (XP)

Not true that Start>Documents are always in alphabetical order - you must have done a right click and then Sort By Name at some time; Sort By Name is also available in Programs, Favourites etc.If you disable this it will only list the documents, files and other items used in the order they were undertaken.

I have spent hours trying to find a fix, trying numerous things, working with my email provider (who is absolutely stumped) and cannot get rid of this. Has anyone found a true fix for this? Answer:Windows 10 Mail account settings out of date

If the account is Gmail, hotmail/outlook/live or Yahoo you may have set up 2-factor authentication on the account so you'll require an app specific password which you enter instead of the usual account password.
Yes so do I, did a clean install of the Creators Update & couldn't install Windows Live Mail so I have to use the inbuilt mail app.

Hello and good morning to u all. I have itunes on my windows XP machine which ive been using for over 4 years...i think itunes is the best music player out there, but ive got one problem that i'm hoping that can be sorted out for me here today. I have an extensive music library(like most people)...and my music is sorted by DATE ADDED,...as i'm accustomed to this way...but here is my problem...when I sort by date added...the track numbers in the all my albums appear out of order....just like here:click hereI'm sure like myself, there are loads of people that like to listen to an album in the EXACT WAY that is on the CD recorded by the artist. I know i can re-arrange this as a playlist but its a lot of hassle and it wont solve the problem in my actual music library which will still show in the incorrect order. There MUST be a solution out there.....When I listen to music I most start my listening session with the music I have added most recently. If I have added an entire album recently I want to hear the album in the order the "artist" intended it to be heard. I would think many people would be keen to hear the things they have added most recently. The lack of an option to sort by "Date Added by Track#" is terribly annoying for me.

That's nice, Windows, especially since I don't have an Outlook account. But this annoying message keeps popping up anyway. I have only set up Windows mail with a Gmail account, but it keeps blathering about a non-existent Outlook account. Poking around in the app, I did find an Outlook entry in my calendar, but I have no idea how it got there. If I click on Settings>Manage Accounts, there is no Outlook account there, only the Gmail account. Anyone know how to resolve this nonsense?

Never mind, found the "Outlook account" in general Windows settings instead of the Calendar settings. Deleted it; problem solved. Not sure why I couldn't manage the account from the mail/calendar app where the error was appearing.

Answer:Windows 10 Mail App : Your Yahoo account settings are out of date

Afaik the extra ** are just to disguise the length of the password & not reflective of the actual password.
Do you have any two-step/two-factor authentication on your Yahoo account? If so then you may require an app specific password to enter instead of your usual Yahoo password.
Have you tried deleting the Yahoo email account?
There was an email sent from Yahoo recently that informed the users to change their password due to a hacking incident, it may be that someone has changed your password & you need to verify who you are with Yahoo in order to create an new password, if you can log into your Yahoo account then an hacked account is not the case, so we're back to an authentication issue.

For a long time, if I downloaded a folder from Google chrome, it would go to the downloads folder in Microsoft explorer with the latest downloaded file on top. I'm not sure how I changed it, but somehow the download folder now has the looks of the music library with categories in the details view of "name","contributing artist", "title", "album". I can sort them by name alphabetically, but not by date downloaded. If I don't remember the name of the download, I'll have to search for it in this huge folder of lots of different downloads, and if it has a weird name as some downloads do, it will be difficult. Is there a way to go back to getting the downloads folder like a documents folder (or however it was) and be able to arrange them by date downloaded?

Is this possible? If not, is there any way that I could transfer them easily to an external drive maybe? I'm not sure that you can change the order in which they are actually downloaded. However, you can change the order in which they are displayed. If you click on the "Received" tab it will sort them. Click it again and it will reverse the order and so on. You can also click e.g. the From tab to sort them that way.

When I download photos from my Sony Cybershot to my notebook, using Windows Camera wizard to MY PICTURES relevant sub-file, they remain in the jpg file (& date) number order. But when I view or edit them in MS Picture Manager, I find some of my photos date order has been mixed-up compared to the order of taking and storing them on the camera folder and in the Explorer/My Pictures sub-file. So, when I simply wish to view them in a slideshow sequentially they are of course displayed as well out of order. Nor can I find a facility in MS PM to re-arrange them in date order? Furthermore, MS PM will not allow me to drag & drop them back into the date order (which would be a long job sometimes with holiday photos in any case!).

Has anybody a solution how to overcome this frustrating time-waster, please?

Sorry, not familiar with M$ PM ...
But the freeware Irfanview Image Viewer and Editor is very popular here at TSG.

Hi,
I would like to use a VLOOKUP formula in my bank statement sheets in order to populate item codes from a lookup table. Some of the entries (lookup values) in a statement contain a date in the form of ddmmm (e.i. 21JUL). Is there a way of creating a VLOOKUP formula that will ignore the date in the lookup value and therefore populate correct item codes into the statement sheets...for example I have several instances of the entry BANK TRANSFER ON ddmmm, where ddmmm is the date (21JUL, 11AUG, 05SEP). I would create a lookup table with a single entry BANK TRANSFER ON and the VLOOKUP formula will recognise this entry ignoring the date in the lookup value.
Hope it makes sense. Thank you in advance. Heidi

1) Basic Export and ImportI exported relavent files: Account info, Contacts and all the messages to a folder (in Windows Mail format) on old computer and used the old "Addias" transfer - copied folder to stick and RAN it over to the new computer.
- Imported (using the Windows Mail format) the Account info successfully,
- imported the Contact info successfully.
- Import Messages - appeared at first to be successful

Issue: Message folders appear to be renamed and some folder names have been truncated, not all folders appear to be there. (Looks like "long Name folders greater that 8 characters get truncated)

So...

2) Tried the "Easy transfer mechanism (Vista and Win7 transfer utility) - but couldn't get the new computer to see the Vista even though I could see them on the network. I thought that this would transfer the folder names correctly.
I'm about to try a time consuming effort of coping folder by folder (export/Import)
What I am more concerned about is that the individaul messages may have the same issue Ie not all coming accross and subject names being lost.

Answer:Solved: Troubles transferring Windows Mail Vista to Win7 Windows Live Mail 2011

I get a little nauseous just thinking about Windows Live Mail 2011, much less expending effort to use it, but I would try installing it on the Vista and see if it has the option right up front of importing stuff from Windows Mail. If it does, and happens to work correctly, then all you would have to do is find its files and copy them over.

By the way, are you putting on airs with "Addias" transfer? We plebeians just used "sneaker net."

The Windows Photo Viewer will not display photos in the order they are sorted by Windows Explorer.
This is not referring to the slide show feature, just the forward and back arrows.
The only order pictures can be viewed is by name despite Windows Explorer being set at view by date, ascending.
I have repaired Microsoft Live Essentials, uninstalled and reinstalled but the issue remains.
This is also not an issue with photo tags or photo names.
Windows Explorer sorts as selected but click a picture in the middle to view, click the forward arrow and instead of the next date picture being viewed, the next name picture is viewed.

Answer:Windows Photo Viewer; sorting order not the same as view order

Hi!

I upgraded to Windows 10 recently as well, I have the same problem and I also have a solution. However, I do not know, if it is ideal. :-)

What is obviously missing is an entry in the registry called DropTarget. This entry tells Windows Photo Viewer to display the images in the sorting order of the folder Photo Viewer got called from.

Non-solution:
I saw that at least in my registry there is a DropTarget defined in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\photoviewer.dll\shell\open\DropTarget. From the name of the key and from reading the docs this looks as if it would be applied to all calls to this program, but -if that actually is the case- for me this entry does not work. It has been there (at least) after my Windows 10 upgrade, also the "Clsid"="{FFE2A43C-56B9-4bf5-9A79-CC6D4285608A}" seems to be fine, but it does not do the job.

Solution:
For me, this problem was present for jpg and png files, but not for bmp, dib, gif, jfif and what else can be opened with Windows Photo Viewer. To fix this, I have added the following to the Windows Registry:

Code:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\shell\open\DropTarget]

Hi,

I was browsing the information regarding pre-ordering Windows 7 in the UK for ?49.99 / ?99.99 and am relatively pleased with such an offer. My concern however is regarding information posted by MS at:

http://emea.microsoftstore.com/UK/Mi...dows-7-Preview

Now I understand that due to the forced use of the E version only a clean install will be possible; with that in mind- why does MS state under system requirements that a genuine version of XP or Vista is required to use this version to perform a clean install of 7?

It states on the page linked that "Operating System:
Must be running a genuine copy of the Windows XP or Windows Vista operating systems."

Now I would like to install this on a PC that doesn't have an OS (well is currently running Linux), so am I not alowed to buy this as I don't have a genuine version of XP or Vista that I'd like to sacrifice? It's left me a little confused. Can this be bought and installed on a PC w/o an OS? Does it actually require a genuine version of xp/vista installed?

Cheers,
Dean

Answer:[SOLVED] Windows 7 (UK) Pre-Order Concern?

themoodude, this is an upgrade option. You have to have an existing installation of XP/Vista to install. That is why it's so cheap! If you want to do an install on a clean system then the price is higher, $199 I believe.

First the background: We are gradually deploying Office 2007, but not everyone in the agency has it. I have both 2003 and 2007 installed on my system, but I do my work in 2003, and none of our databases have actually been converted to 2007 format (at least, none that I work with). There are occasionally people who use 2007 when viewing databases, but I don't know if any of the people who are working in this particular database are using 2007. The problem is reproducible in 2003 and so I've been trying to fix it here. The query behind the problem report used to work. It has been a problem for several months (it is run monthly, and every month for the past five they've had problems with it) and I've finally gotten to the root of the actual issue.

The purpose of the report is to generate invoice for outstanding loans. The DateNextPayment is a calculated field based on the payment plan for the loan. It is calculated using a function in the query named qryGetSitesDDInvoices1. This is the function that is called (I did not write this function, I'm supporting this db long after the original writer has left):
Code:
Function DateNextPayment(PaymentSchedule As String, DateFirstPayment As Date, Balance As Currency)

On Error GoTo Handle_err

Dim Date1 As Date
Dim Date2 As Date
Dim Date3 As Date
Dim NextQtrDate As Date

Hey guys,
I have a question about coding and setting an excel file to send emails. I am using an excel file to track maintenance work orders and I would like to get an email each day for each work order that is requested to be finished on that days date. I have attached the excel file I am using, and the column that is important is C, "Date Needed" - If that date is today's date, the cell turns red and I would also like to get email notification about it. A separate email for each cell that matches today's date.

Also, if possible, I would like for it to look at all the sheets, not just the current month's sheet. For example, if a work order was filed in July but wasn't needed until September, I would still like to get the email reminding me that it needs to be finished on xx date in September.

I have attached the excel file I want to use.

I have searched all over this forum and others and have found many posts similar to this, but I am not a great manipulator of code, so I cannot get any of the other solutions to work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hey folks,

I have an ASUS K55A laptop computer and I bought this particular laptop as a birthday gift earlier this year. This laptop is pre-loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium edition (64-bit version) and it is powered by an Intel Core i7 Quad-Core processor at 2.30Ghz. It has 8GB of RAM (DDR3 type RAM) on my system.

Using CPU-Z in my Windows 7 system, I determine that my BIOS update is loaded with this version: K55A.204 (BIOS date 03/13/2012). That BIOS is provided by American Megatrends Inc.

I couldn't remember which particular key that I have to press in order to access the ASUS BIOS during the POST (Power-on-self-test) process.

Anyways, what are your suggestions to this situation? Is it really necessary to update the BIOS for my ASUS K55A laptop?

I have, today, receieved my pre-ordered copy of Windows 7 (Home Premium). I was wondering if there's a reason it's arrived 3 days before it's released; and if anyone else in the UK had noticed this?

Also; I thought the UK version had to include a Browser Ballot screen. Just to say I didn't see one at all during install, nor can I find one anywhere. It's just preinstalled with IE 8... which I thought wasn't alowed thanks to the EU being ott.

Answer:[SOLVED] Windows 7 Pre-Order arrived early!

The EU just approved Microsoft's browser ballot plans last week. It hasn't been tested yet.

Maybe it will be included with Windows 8 and IE 10.

It comes back with 2/11/12 0:00:00

I need just the 2/11/12

I thought about changing it to a text field but I think there will be an issue with the month because it does not bring back a 0 in from the months with only 1 digit.

The subject line tells it all. I am open to any suggestions!

I note that an old thread, virtually unanswered, received this reply:
"Well how many times a week do you need to sort the desktop icons for it to become annoying?
I personally don't use any of the sort-order preferences (non selected)...."

Well, that was a non-answer. I, too, face this inconvenience, and wonder why Windows would default to a descending search for the Desktop.

Probably like the person who first posted for help, I frequently add and delete different shortcuts as I work through the most current tasks and projects.

I don't generally think in reverse, so it is not as easy to find my alphabetized task when it is sorted in reverse order. This requires clicking on the "Sort by Name" twice to rearrange the icons, every time one is deleted or added. Inefficient, annoying, and a waste of time.

So again - is there anybody out there with a definitive answer to this reverse sort problem?

Thanks! Here is my system info:

Hi:Windows Live Mail/Windows 7 I set-up 3 different e-mail accounts this summer and all works fine. I have six e-mail accounts established in my Windows 10 Mail. It appears the accounts are listed in the order they were created. However, I just had to add another e-mail account and it is at the bottom of the list. Is there any way to rearrange the list? In Windows 8.1 you could move the accounts up and down in the order that you wanted them listed. The procedure used in Windows 8.1 does not work in Windows 10.

Answer:Rearranging the Order of E-Mail Accounts

My solution is a bit brutal, but works. Delete all but the one you want at the top of the list, and then reattach to each in the sequence you would like them to appear. This is a problem begging for an easier solution like an "Arrange Account Order" option or a drag-and-drop way to shift them around. It is a "start over again" type of thing if you would like to insert a new account someplace in the list.

So on Tuesday, I tried ordering a Y700 multiple times and all the times I tried, my card was declined for some reason. So the next day I call my bank and see why it is not letting the order through. They say I have insufficient funds, and I was positive I had enough. Then she mentions a recent order of $799.99 the day before, so then I'm like maybe the order did go through. I then go check my email, no order confirmation. Then today, I got an email asking for a review from a verified customer. I also just checked my recent orders on my Lenovo account and nothing shows up. I see three options. 1, the order never went through and Lenovo just took my money. 2, I was accidentally logged out when I ordered it and maybe the system glitched and didn't send me a confirmation email. Or 3, the order is sent but it's just not showing up for some reason. So any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Hello everyone. I have a problem that seems quite simple but is quite annoying. Every "Browse"-type window that opens such as Open File, Save File etc. has files sorted by date modified by default. If I want them sorted by name I have to right-click and do so, but if I change the folder I'm browsing it's once again the same, everything sorted by date modified.

If I browse for files via Windows Explorer I have no problem, the views are just like I want them. But every opened browse window is by default sorted by date, which is very annoying. Anyone know how I could solve this? Some trick or registry setting?

And I've had problems in the past trying to do this also. I tried Windows "Files and Settings Transfer" but I never had any luck with that software in the past. How do I do this? On this PC I'm using Vista HM X86.So, copy and paste is too much of a burden for ~25 links?  Quote from: lectrocrew on January 29, 2011, 02:06:27 AMThis would also help me transfer IE8 Favorites from this Vista PC to one of my XP PC's, which I also failed with using Windows file transfer software (included with both OS's).Just export your IE favorites, copy the file to the XP machine, and then import them.  To export, open IE and select File, Import and Export, Export to a file, and proceed.

I wanted the date and the time visible in my laptop's taskbar. Of course, Windows will show the date and time if you simply enlarge your taskbar, but who wants to loose valuable screen space? This frustrated the hell out of me. Finally found a solution, and wanted to share it. Hope it helps someone trying to simply see the damn date on one line of the taskbar!!!!! Peace at last....

The FREE program I found on CNET is called "Free Desktop Clock". Ran a virus check on it, and came back fine, so I installed it, and it works perfectly with Windows 10. Shows the day, date, time, am/pm, all on one line. Has a few skins to change the look of your clock.

how does one save windows mail (inbox, sent, etc) with the original date?

Answer:saving mail with original sent date

Hi Bill,

Welcome to Vista Forums.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but I suppose that you could Export (backup) the messages to save them and Import (restore) them when you want them back.

Windows Mail - Messages

Is this what you meant?

A friend changed email providers and I updated the people app but the mail app still displays the old mail contact info when typing in the "TO". Is there a way to delete this old out of date contact????

Is it stored in the registry???
