Preferred Solution: Solved: Browsers will not load microsoft website but will load FB, Google etc etc

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Solved: Browsers will not load microsoft website but will load FB, Google etc etc

Either it's a problem server side for them, which would be an issue with your IP,
or a process/service altered some of your core system settings on your end which blocks the microsoft website for some reason....., you can try a different IP address just to make sure it's not server side for them, and then if that doesn't work I am not sure what to tell you other than reinstalling all browsers, and eventually refromatting if reinstalling browsers does not work.

IF it is an IP issue it could be something with your network, if a network admin blocked the microsoft website, or even theoretically your ISP if there was a strange issue with them, however that would be rare.

There is one specific website that will not completely load for me in Firefox, and will not load at all in Chrome, but will load and function perfectly fine in the other browsers on my system.
It behaves the same way on my wife's computer, and the site has never been visited on that computer until I started troubleshooting this issue - so it's not a case of bad cookies or other cache problems.
I've asked friends and family to try the site and they say it's fine!

Answer:[SOLVED] Google wont load? [moved from Other Browsers]

Welcome back to TSF

Have you cleared the cache?

Download and install CleanUp! but do not run it yet.

*WARNING* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders and does not make backups.

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu). Set the program up as follows:
*Click "Options..."
*Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
*Put a check next to the following:Empty Recycle Bins
Delete Cookies
Delete Prefetch files
Cleanup! All Users
Click on the ?Temporary Files? and uncheck the box for ?Scan drives for file matching? if it?s checked.
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program. Reboot/logoff when prompted.

I run both IE 8 and Firefox on my Dell Dimension system. I'm having problems now with both browsers taking forever to load. This may be a virus or network problem. IE 8 just loaded now after 15 minutes (exactly - I timed it).

- Once it's loaded once, both browsers load in normal amounts of time.
- I haven't downloaded any new add-ons lately unless one browser or the other installed one in the background.
- The problem just started today after a reboot.
- I've also noticed that my network icon in the taskbar doesn't show up anymore when I first boot but by the time IE opens, it has showed up.
- Using ipconfig, I did determine that I am on the network and connected immediately after boot up (router also shows me connected immediately).
- I've tried running IE from the command line with iexplore.exe -extoff. It didn't make any difference. I don't know if this works with IE 8 though.
- When I click to open either web browser, the process shows up right away in Task Manager and remains.
- I have all the latest updates to both browsers that I know of.
- I've run a complete system scan with McAfee (fully updated as of today.)

Now I've run out of ideas on what to try. I appreciate any help!

Heres my problem guys.

I use 3 or 4 times a day (go on it now, i bet it's working for you -_-)

A couple of days ago i tried loading it up, and it simply doesn't work!

I get the following error is IE:

And in firefox, simply a blank screen:
As i said, it's the ONLY website that wont work, and was fine until a few days ago. BUT, theres a few strange happenings;

Firstly, on the second day of it not working, it managed to connect for about an hour, but when i came back to it later that evening it would not work again (i had not done anything differently, simply typed it into the url)

Secondly, I can access it from anywhere apart from my house! Both my home computer and laptop will not connect, whereas at school/work/friends it will!

I have searched for days for a remedy, nothing i have tried has worked!

My Pinecone Research surveys will not load when I click on start. I have deleted and cleaned up both IE and Chrome. This is the only site I have trouble with. Thanks.

Answer:Pinecone Research website page no longer load on my browsers

When I clicked on the link you gave in #4 this lot arrived (see between lines):----------------------------------------------------------------------------The page cannot be found The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please try the following:?If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.?Open the home page, and then look for links to the information you want.?Click the Back button to try another link.HTTP 404 - File not found----------------------------------------------------------------------------I then found this: like the website is down, or at least the address you are using. If it hasn't been disbanded it might start working again in the next few days.Alternatively perhaps you can sign on and get where you want to from this (which is working): pop back and let us know the outcome - thanksmessage edited by Derek

Answer:Firefox can't load Google/youtube/FB but other browsers can

Try this, open up command prompt(cmd)on run box for XP or type cmd in Vista/Win 7 system on your search programs and files box. Type ipconfig /flushdns and hit Enter. Try launching your Firefox browser and then check the difference. There will be a space between g and /.

Lately, whenever i want to visit any web page, the browsers won't load it properly. On google chrome it said that sometimes "unable to connect to internet", and whenever it is loaded it loads jumbled on the first few times. After refreshing or reloading the slow page several times, it loads properly but still slow.

I did some reading here beforehand, and i ran CCleaner and cleaned the cache and all, but nothing worked. I thought it was my Avast! but when i turned it off it doesn't have any effects at all. I know this is not my connection's fault because when i try loading some pages in another devices like my tablet or phone with my wi-fi it worked just fine. Been like this for like a month or so.
Any thoughts?
Any response is appreciated.

Answer:Google Chrome & other Browsers won't load properly/slowly

Hello and welcome Timot I cannot find the support page for that machine you have listed - not being funny but that is the correct model??
To me it sounds like either a driver or system error. I have these from time to time and have used fixes like rebooting the modem checking the network drver Ethernet or wifi but the first oen I go for is this and it is so simple and sually works < do first but the next one chkdsk is the usual fixer for me < use the /f and /r options in Option2 if necessary

I shall be interested in what you find as I am about to get the G750JM ROG

Hi, couple of weeks ago I noticed that both my Firefox and IE8 Google searches were redirecting me to somewhere else.I searched for a solution to the issue and followed some fixes on this site and others and I thought everything was working fine after couple of days since I did not have any issues with google searches. Today I downloaded Chrome and used it for a bit and noticed that Google searches were redirecting to Happili site especially if I try to open the search link in a new window or a new tab.I don't see any issues like popups or slow internet connection. I ran Malware bytes, symantec endpoint, ddskiller, combofix, etc but nothig worked.I hope you guys can help and find a solution for this nasty issue.ThanksDDS:.DDS (Ver_2011-08-26.01) - NTFSx86 Internet Explorer: 8.0.6001.18702 BrowserJavaVersion: 1.6.0_18Run by Administrator at 17:24:00 on 2012-03-29Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.1.2600.3.1252.1.1033.18.2972.2091 [GMT -7:00].AV: Symantec Endpoint Protection *Disabled/Updated* {FB06448E-52B8-493A-90F3-E43226D3305C}FW: Symantec Endpoint Protection *Enabled* .============== Running Processes ===============.C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe -k DcomLaunchsvchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcsC:\Program Files\WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software\bin\btwdins.exeC:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\Smc.exesvchost.exesvchost.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files... Hello and Welcome to Bleeping Computer!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems. I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.
Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.
A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE:... After I upgraded to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8 Pro, Google Chrome just won't load any webpage.   Chrome Version 30.0.1599.101 m.
Can be test this site as an example:
So I tried to reinstalled Chrome, then it seems start to load some websites like Youtube and Facebook. BUT, none of youtube videos load, and chat sidebar on Facebook is offline all the time. Other major websites still remain unloadable. Safari works fine so far. I don't have Firefox.
I know that some people actually have similar problems months ago with 8.1 Preview version. I thought this problem is temporary since it was beta version. Now, I'm really disappointed.

I'm having trouble setting up my internet on a computer. I tried all the usual things and have narrowed the problem down to something between the computer and the router. I opened up the router (Linksys Wireless-G) page (with all the router settings, I know its got a name...) on the computer and have checked all the settings against another computer on the same router that works fine. I then went into the diagnostics page of the router settings and began trying to ping various websites. It successfully pinged, but when I tried to open the same site in Firefox it would not load. I pasted the IP address for Google,, into Firefox and it loaded the page. When I try a search, or try to navigate away from the page I'm told that "the page cannot be displayed" just like before. I don't understand the problem, I can send and receive data but I can't open any webpages. I'm assuming there's a setting somewhere that I've overlooked, could someone please point me in the right direction?

Answer:Solved: Can ping website but cannot load website

Alright guys, I've got some major problems with a computer here. The computer seems to be infected with some sort of virus, with symptoms similar to conficker. I am not sure that this is what is causing our problems, but it's come down with a nasty worm that has the following symptoms:

1) All microsoft update websites are disabled. I try to log onto them and the website will not load. All other websites load just fine.
2) Major websites posting fixes to viruses and computer problems also redirect to a website with advertisements.
3) I get a svchost error that, upon clicking "ok", freezes the computer or makes it run very slowly.
4) Svchost.exe begins to consume a MASSIVE amount of memory, slowing down the entire computer.
5) I am experiencing random redirects to websites.
6) The computer, as a whole, is running sluggishly.

We attempted the following fixes:
1) Installing and updating avast, and running scans. Various trojans have been removed.
2) Installing and updating malware bytes. Various trojans and viruses have been removed.
3) Running windows repair. This did not fix any of the above problems. We are trying to avoid a complete format here.
4) Reinstalling virus scanners and malware bytes, running them again, and fiding more viruses.
5) Reinstalling internet explorer 8.

None of the above work. We do have access to a windows install CD, just for your knowledge, just in case. But as mentioned before, we'd like to remove the problems without... Read more

I have a new laptop I got for Christmas, an Intel Core i5 which is supposed to be a fast machine. It runs on Windows 8.1. It had the free McAfee virus checker trial on it until that expired and I loaded Avast about three weeks ago. Since then it's been like treacle. It boots up quickly but the browsers now take ages to load! I had Virgin check our broadband speed and they said it was fine, though I did a speed check and was only getting 8 mb. I read that Avast could slow down the browsers so I disabled it from both Firefox and IE but they still take a while to load and only work if I restart the laptop which is a damn nuisance.

What could be the problem? Is it Avast or Windows 8.1? My money's on Avast but it's a good virus checker

Answer:Solved: Laptop with Windows 8.1: Browsers Take An Age To Load!

Did you uninstall McAfee? Download the McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool Use it to uninstall McAfee. Restart the system and see if thing speedup.

I wish to continue using Google Chrome as I am most comfortable using it. However, after installing Windows 10, Chrome no longer Loads any pages. Errors will simply appear stating that the page is unresponsive. Any solutions to this issue? And yes I have uninstalled Chrome and re-installed to no avail.

Answer:Why does Google Chrome no longer load any pages? App opens but it refuses to load anything?

Not sure if I have this in the right forum or not.

There is a website I use at work that is a State Government database. The site will start to load but it stops. On the left side would be a menu that would load normally that is Java. It does not load so the database is unavailable. The site tells you to disable pop up blockers which i have doen. I had norton on the computer a while back and the only way i could get into this website then was to disable Norton.

This current problem started when I loaded the AOL Security. Even with AOL security and all firewalls disabled still can not access the site. So i removed AOL security and loaded AVG and Zone Alarm in its place. Still can not get into the site with those disabled.

If anybody has a thought as to what could be going on it would be appreciated.

From the Pogo site:

Try downloading and installing the Java Virtual Machine from Sun Microsystems (this is different from the one from Microsoft). This has fixed the problem for many of our users who had this problem, and it may work for you. Here's how to get Sun's Java VM:

- Go to
- Follow the directions listed on that page for installation

Ok, here is my problem, I play a game through my web browser named "Fallen Sword", and since the 16th of November it has not loaded the webpage on Chrome, IE, and Firefox. I have tried uninstalling Firefox/Chrome and re-installing them to see how that would go, same thing, I've also ran 2-3 scans through McAfee and nothing came up. The ONLY time it would load on my PC is with a Proxy I found online, but I don't have full functionality through the game with the proxy. It did load on my Xbox 360's IE though. What I do not understand is that when I go to a website to see if its down for everyone or just me, it says Just Me, I know this because I went over to a friend's house yesterday and he could play the game with no lag or trouble at all, any help would be Greatly appreciated.

Answer:Solved: This website won't load

Hard to say, but you didn't give nearly enough info. I have no idea what MySpace has to do with browsing to other websites. AFAIK, TSG doesn't require anything special over many other sites on the web.

I am new to the site and understand very little computer lingo, so please go easy on me. And i'm so sorry in advance, i'm sure i did something wrong.

I read similar problems to this one on the site (after i googled the problem and ended up here) but i don't understand the solutions other people have come up with. I was really hoping there is someone out there who can dumb down the language for me, or give me easier directions to follow so i can understand.

I used this website a week ago, and have been there many times, but suddenly it doesn't work on my computer anymore. (toshiba satellite, windows vista [anything else you need to know please ask]). It is the only one i have found that doesn't work.

The annoying part is it loads on my moms computer. (macbookpro). Same house, same IP, same modem/router thingy.

So that means it has to be something to do with my computer. I can't figure out what the difference is that would make it stop running on my computer all of a sudden. Pretty sure i didn't change anything. After it stopped working i updated firefox, still doesn't work. On someone's advice i cleared my history, cookies and all... and my cache. I don't know what else to do for fear of screwing up my computer entirely.

Website is:

It says this when i use IE. Takes me to some bing page.

Hi I have a laptop (Acer TravelMate 370) that was recently fitted with a new HDD - the old one crashed. System is Win XP Home SP3, Pentium 4, 1.4 GHz with 500 MB RAM.
Recently my son has had a problem logging on to - the home page loads but when he tries to 'play now' the browser closes. This happens in Firefox (latest version). When I try in IE 8 I get a message that it has tried to restore the website -

"We were unable to return you to

Internet Explorer has stopped trying to restore this website. It appears that the website continues to have a problem.
What you can do:
Go to your home page

Try to return to"
I've run scans with anti virus (AVG, SpywareBlaster, SuperAntiSpyware & MalwareBytes) to no avail.

Any suggestions?

Since about 10 o'clock last night, I have been unable to access Facebook in Firefox (I currently use), Chrome, and IE (v8). I have cleared my cookies/cache/DNS cache, reset/turned off my modem/router/computer (Windows XP Pro), attempted to update my Network driver, uninstalled and reinstalled my network adapter when I was unable to update or roll back, spent an hour on the phone with my ISP, checked firewall settings. The message I get is this one:

If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network

Hi, I have an interesting problem. I visit a few different forums on the domain, and was about to begin creating my own forum, when all of a sudden I was no longer able to go to any of the websites. I had several people check, and everyone could get to it except me. I tried using both IE and Firefox, but neither work. So I tried using a free web proxy, and it let me visit. It has to have something to do with my IP address, I guess, but I can't imagine how or why it happened. Since web proxies are so slow and terrible, I hope to get this resolved so I don't need to use them. Here is my HijackThis logfile, and please let me know if you need anything else. My computer and internet seem to function totally normally, but one website will not load. It's - I've used it often in the past, but as of a few weeks ago, I get the "waiting for...." indication in the lower left corner for several minutes and even when that changes to "Done", the page is blank. No error messages or anything - just no page. This happens on any browser - I even downloaded Chrome and tried it there.

I checked the site on other computers elsewhere, and it seems to work fine. I can't seem to find a single other website that gives me any problems, so I'm sort of baffled. Searching the forum found many posts about internet not working totally, but I couldn't find anyone with this particular problem. Thanks for your help.

Answer:Solved: One specific website doesn't load

Try booting in Safe Mode with Networking and then accessing the website.

If you can access it that way, you might need to try a Clean Boot to isolate a culprit.

If you can't access the website in Safe Mode with Networking, try the following procedure.

Refresh your DNS by following these steps:

Click Start > Run > type CMD

In the command prompt, type ipconfig /flushdns

If no luck,

(From a JohnWill post)

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2 or SP3.

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.

If still no joy,

Please click here to download and install the HijackThis installer.
Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next post.

Out of the blue, I got hit with a virus the other day. The most obvious aspect was "Antimalware Doctor", which I have since removed. I've run many scans, including avast boot scans, spybot s&d, combofix, and malwarebytes' antimalware.

Now it seems I am down to the following issues:

I am unable to load the Microsoft Update website
When I run a search in Google, the result links I click often redirect to an ad site
After my computer has been on for a while, I receive a "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services" crash message, which is soon followed by a loss of internet connection

ok this is gonna be a bit long but i want the details there. the issue pc is my old pc. it has windows 7 its an asus msn-la motherboard i cloned this drive and used it in my new pc. after a few months my new pc's drive died and i took the old drive from the issue pc(witch was not giving issues at this time) and stuck it into my new pc until my replacement drive came. when i got the replacement drive i cloned the drive again onto the replacement drive and then put the new drive in the new pc had no issues there. put the old drive back into the issue pc (this is when issues started) the pc booted up to the windows desktop loading screen fast but once it got there it sat there for like 5 min before loading into windows. once it loaded into windows it was un usable for around 10 min while it loaded background stuff. once it finally loads into windows if i try to open anything its still responding extremely slow. is there anything i could do to fix this or is this going to me a re install only situation? i did try to use a windows 7 disk to do a startup repair but it claimed i couldn't do it because i dident install from that disk.

I have a very simple web page that automatically updates daily. However, very often when I view it I just get the version that is in my browser cache rather than the latest version from the web. I have to do a manual refresh from the browser to see the latest version. Not a problem for me, but other viewers of the page may not realize they aren't seeing the latest information.

Is there an HTML tag or some such that can be included in the page that will force a refresh and override any old version that the viewer may still have in their browser cache?

Hello, thank you for reading For about 5 days now I have not been able to get to facebook at all. It keeps saying:

Google Chrome could not load the webpage because took too long to respond. The website may be down, or you may be experiencing issues with your Internet connection.
Here are some suggestions:
Reload this webpage later.
Check your Internet connection. Restart any router, modem, or other network devices you may be using.
Add Google Chrome as a permitted program in your firewall's or antivirus software's settings. If it is already a permitted program, try deleting it from the list of permitted programs and adding it again.
If you use a proxy server, check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server, adjust your proxy settings: Go to the Chrome menu > Settings > Show advanced settings... > Change proxy settings... > LAN Settings and deselect the "Use a proxy server for your LAN" checkbox.

I have tried the advice listed and also scoured many other forums and tried that advice as well. Im using windows 7 and the latest google chrome. My computer is only a few months old and I have up to date norton 360. i am NOT using a proxy. I have cleared my browsing data and cookies several times. Basically the other day we had our internet disconnecting by the ISP because the contract was with my lodger but she failed to pay so I took over the contract in my name so they reactivated the internet, it worked great right up until the next day I woke up and there was no working internet!

The weird thing is that I can only connect to Google, YouTube, Gmail and strangely enough my local council's website, I thought it was a problem with my Dlink wireless router so I reset it but that didn't work so then I decided to disconnect the wireless router all together and plug my laptop straight into the packetfront box via the Ethernet and came up with the same problem.

I called the ISP Comhem and they checked there system and said everything looked fine they did a reboot and still nothing, I spent over an hour trying to solve it with their support but eventually they gave up and said they will pass it on to there tech team and I will receive a SMS or call, after 4 hours I got a SMS saying that it is working now but it wasn't so I called them back and went through the same process but the difference is now I haven't heard from the tech team and it's been a while.

I experience this problem on a MacBook Pro, Acer windows 7 laptop, iPhones, iPads and media box! If any one can help me with this problem that would be great because I am pulling my hair out with this! Thank you!

For Google Chrome I did the following but it did not help:

Follow these steps to change your proxy setting (for Windows):
Click the Tools menu.
Select Options.
Click the Under the Hood tab.
In the "Network" section, click Change proxy settings. This will open the Internet Properties dialog.
Click LAN settings .
Deselect the "Automatically detect settings" checkbox.

Anyone have any other ideas?

When I try to do Windows Update using IE 6 SP1 I will not load the page... I got all the updates including SP1... but now I cannot check for anymore updates or get any other updated software (DirectX 9, WM 9... etc)

Also I try going to that will not load either... it'll go for like 5mins then I get the "Cannot Display" page.

MSN Messenger I tried using the old v4.7 to login... it just saying logging in... go for 5mins then just goes back to the original screen when I gotta login again. So I installed the v6.2 same result. I do not understand wut is working against my internet that will not allow me to access those pages or msn messenger. I am using DSL 3.0mbps on routerpppoe. I can access this page ofcourse... Just the microsoft website I cannot. I find this really odd for my msn messenger was working fine a week ago and I was able to get some of the updates for windows xp pro this morning after I formatted. I just all out of ideas for this 1...

Answer:MSN Messenger, MSN (Website), Mircrosoft (Website)... cannot connect or load

Well thanks for anyone who read this post. I solved my problem... It was my router it was all messed up. So I simply re-set everything and went into DMZ mode and bingo everything works fine now!

Google Chrome has become slow to load and then it is very slow loading web pages and navigating round web sites.
From previous experience I thought this may be due to a virus but Malwarebytes has found nothing.
Can you help please.
Hope this is in the right place-if not please advise.

Further info.
Noticed 2 instances of msiexec.exe running in Task Manager.
Googled this and found that if genuine it is part of Windows installer
but can also be a virus.
Did a search and found
Googled this and found it is probably Malware.
If so can you help me get rid of it please

I am using Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit and on switching on this morning Firefox 28 would not load. Task Manager shows the FF process as running but nothing actually happens. The same occurs for IE and Chrome. The browsers load in Safe Mode (where we are now) but I cannot imagine which of my startup programs, which have not changed for months, would suddenly be clashing with browsers today. I have reset my router without effect and I am still able to download e-mail via Mailwasher and Thunderbird. I ran a check with DDS but cannot make out anything from the log.

Can anyone offer any advice please?

I've always used Firefox and when I turned on my laptop this morning, it shows me the "won't load" page. So I tried IE and it didn't load too. I restarted my laptop 3 times and it still won't load. I've checked my connection, I do have internet connection as I can connect to Yahoo Messenger and AIM.So I went online using my dad's laptop and downloaded other browsers (Netscape, Flock), save the .exe file on a flash disk and installed it on my laptop. It still didn't work.I checked the firewall settings and all browsers are NOT blocked.Help! I really don't know what to do.Thanks!

I don't know if this is the right forum for this, but I couldn't figure out a better one, so here goes...

Lately both my desktop and laptop have had problems loading pages in any browser. The problem is somewhat intermittent, and clearing the cache usually helps, but not always. I end up having to clear the caches in all browsers regularly just to get any work done, and sometimes even that doesn't work.

My laptop is running Vista, and my new desktop, Windows 7 (64 bit). I've checked for malware, viruses, and firewall issues on both computers, occasionally finding something and fixing it, but still no resolution to the browsers stalling or refusing to load pages. I get error messages that some pages are not found and others just won't load.

My ISP delivers inconsistent connection speeds, but lately that's gotten a bit steadier, usually hovering around 1 Mbps, with occasional swings up and down. When I've had the loading problem, I've checked the speed, and it seems OK.

Is it possible that this is a router issue? Or is there some other explanation why this seems to be a problem across OS versions and hardware configurations?

Answer:Browsers won't load

Before you do all this could you go to command prompt and type.

and see if you get a reply back.

1. What does it say at the bottom of the page when it won't load.

2.Is the lights on your router all green in other words are the lights

3 are you on wireless or dial up if on wireless broadband look on the right handside of the system tray bottom right of the desktop and tell me what
It says about your connection.

i noticed a while ago that my internet explorer browser would never be able to connect to sites, but it wasn't a concern because i used firefox and opera. the same thing happened with firefox, but i still had opera so i ignored the issue. when opera 9.10 came out, i downloaded it and installed it, but then my opera stopped loading as well. i can still connect, as my desktop weather widget and p2p programs are still working, but i can't do anything to get my internet browsers to work. i've tried the winsock repair and registry cleaners, but nothing helps. anyone have any experience with this or suggestions? below is my hjt log.

IE. Netscape. Firefox. is there one called Opera? You get the message. The reason I ask is to test the website in some, a few, them all? Who knows. How many do you reckon then?Hanx!K.

Answer:How many browsers should I load up?

There is one called Opera, there's also Safari for Mac users and various ones for Linux etc. It's not always feasible to test them all out on your machine, but there's a free website called Browsershotsclick herethat you can put your url in and after about 10 - 45 minutes depending on current load, you'll get screenshots of your website as seen by various mac/windows/linux browsers. It takes a little while but its free. Commercial/paid for variants of this are sitevista click here and browsercam click here - these are obviously quicker than the free site and offer a few more options. Browsercam for example offers Blackberry and other mobile browser options plus VNC remote access that allows you to test interactive elements like rollovers, flashanimations and drop down menus. It has a free 24 hour trial.Hope this helps some.

Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera won't load. Chrome will. When Firefox is "loaded" it is in the list of processes on CTRl Alt delete, but nothing is on the screen even after Alt-Tab. I have run chkdsk - no change. What is the cure please?

Hey guys. I am not able to load any pages using Firefox or Internet explorer. I have tried resetting my windsock and itp and it still won't work. I've also tried deleting any 3rd party firewalls I had but that didn't work either. I just got this laptop a week ago too so ya. Any help you can give me I would really appreciate. Thanks

Answer:My Internet browsers won't load anything

Ok, need a bit more info. Are you able to load with any other browser?

Are you wirelessly or physically connected. If you are physically connected to a router, check your IP address of your system and see if you have one assigned. It will usually be a 192.168.1.x. If it is anything else, your aren't connected. Check your cable.

If it's wireless, have you gone through the connection steps to connect to your wireless router?

Some system specs would help too.

Hello..I was originally using Mozilla Firefox until one day it stopped working..which by that i mean that the browser itself would open and load as normal but the spot that says "New tab" or whatever site youre at, would just say "blank page" and stay that way I installed google Chrome after giving up on Firefox.. until today when it basically did the same thing (out of nowhere, just like last time)..the browser loads but no page will load AT ALL! And same with internet explorer! the only way I am even on and typing this is that IE 64 bit DOES work..but i can't leave it this way and use 64 bit regularly because it simply will not use or download flash, so NO games or movies are possible..which is just not barable to me! I dont know what to do..i've uninstalled and reinstalled, unplugged router and reset it, restored the internet options through control panel..i am out of ideas and i dont know what has even caused this, much less what to do to resolve this! But i just can't deal with the current state of things! ANY HELP is appreciated! thanks!!

Answer:None of my browsers will load pages!

Open Internet Explorer. Click Tools > Internet Options > Connections > Lan settings > Proxy server > Advanced > delete proxy server settings > click OK > uncheck all boxes > click OK.

In Firefox, click Tools > Options... > General > Advanced > Network > Settings > delete proxy settings > select No proxy > click OK.

If that works,

Please click HERE to download and install HijackThis.

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile from the Main Menu.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next post.

A few hours ago my browsers(I.E and Firefox) stopped loading any sites. I've ran 2 Virus scanners(Trend Micro Online Scanner, The Cleaner) and Ad-Aware. Now my browsers just randomly started opening a few sites including this one, but still majority of the sites such as even google and gmail won't open. Someone on IRC told me maybe my DNS is down but he logged off before giving me more details. In addition, I can't even update my definitions for ad-aware because it can't connect to its server. Anyone have a solution?

Hi everyone,

I spent an entire day browsing thru other topics with the same problem and I tried all the solutions that were listed, but to no avail - using win 8.1, certain sites just will not load in any browsers (tried Firefox, Opera, Chrome, IE) on my desktop pc. Usually they get stuck at "connecting to.. (site)" and then time out and once in a while (in about once every 50 timeouts) result an xml parsing error ("unexpected parser state")

Examples of the sites that won't load:
videos on
any of the podcasts from The YoGPoD

Some clues that might help finding the problem:
-It's probably not the router or the ISP since all the other devices (a laptop and a tablet with win8.1 and an android phone) load the same sites without any problems, even if I connect the laptop via the same ethernet cable to the router
-I'm able to load the sites via proxy
-The sites won't load in windows safe mode or firefox safe mode either

A list of things that I tried but didn't work:
-full system scan with multiple antivirus and anti-malware programs, and then disabling all the firewall and antivirus protection
-updating drivers
-changing the MTU size
-ipconfig release, dns flush and winsock reset in the command line
-using Google's public dns ( and opendns
-creating a new windows user account
-restarting the router, updating the firmware, changing the ethernet cable
-disabling IPv6

I'm getting really desperate and an... Read more

When i download things i get the correct downspeed which i used to get early . But now most of the website are not loaded . I have norton and malwarebytes installed scanned the computer like ten times now . I first taut that dey both wer blocking web traffic and so i shut them down and i didn't find any improvements :'(
Please help me out guys . If you can TV me and check my routers it would be great

Answer:Some pages do not load in any of the browsers

This happened with a Netgear router I set up for a friend. He uses some kind of real estate software that accesses the internet to generate maps and randomly one day it began failing to connect. I spent hours looking at the computer's firewall and checking the program's settings before I realized it was the router. Something got changed with respect to the traffic it allows.

Were you recently changing any router settings such as the firewall? I can't remember what the exact setting was but I can look into it and see what I changed.

This problem started just last night, where no forms of media (audio, video, or even ads!) will load on any site. I use Google Chrome, but the problem still persists on Internet Explorer. When trying to load a video on Youtube, the page will do one of two things. The most common is the video will not load at all and only show a black box, then I will get a popup notification that the Flash Shockwave Plugin has stopped working, and if I have it stop the plugin the tab crashes completely. Sometimes the video will load for ~1/8-3/4 of the way though but not play. It will show a still of the first frame of the video, and I can skip through the video, but it will only ever show stills. Dailymotion also crashes, and Pandora tries to load songs but just keeps skipping through them. I also cannot access any of the Yahoo! pages, save for the mail which loads up fairly well. I also tried loading up a video on Hulu, which worked for a few seconds then froze.

It may also be related that my audio mixer isn't working either and I can't get any sounds to play at all, but I have always had minor issues with it freezing up so it may be nothing.

I have restarted my computer, reinstalled both Chrome and Adobe Flash, and checked for all updates. I have also looked for conflicting software to Chrome in the browser and shut down all other programs to see if any of them was just slowing the computer down too much.

Any help would be much appreciated, I am just stumped on what to do

Starting today, neither of my browsers, IE6 of Firefox 3.0.3 (the default) will load. There must something in common with both, since they were both affected at the same time. Worked fine yesterday. I ran some Spybot and AdAware before shutting down. Today, after booting up, FF started loading, then just sat there with the progress bar stopped halfway and the loading circle stopped. Had to shut down the FF process with the three finger salute. Tried IE6 and it comes up with the error and apology that it needs to shut down (no way of sending an error report since the browser won't open.)

I've spend an entire day scouring the web for a solution but can't come up with one. One MS support document suggested running sfc /scannow-- to no avail. Then I tried reinstalling IE6 from the orig. SP2 disk by running %systemroot%\inf, and right clicking install from disk ie.inf in the windows\inf.folder according to directions.

Tried a lot of other things to, to no avail. Fortunately, everything else including my Eudora email client works fine. I have a live internet connection. The computer can ping sites download various software updates as long as they don't need a web browser to do so.

Since both my browsers are dysfunctional, there must be a common or shared registry entry, file or dll that got corrupted. (This is being written on a different computer--both identical Dell Dimension 9100s w/ 4 GB ram and 260 HDs.

I am using Windows 7 Home and recently have run into a problem with my browsers, Firefox, IE, and Chrome. I am connected to the internet however the browsers only respond within the first 20 or so minutes of a restart, then become unresponsive. Furthermore Firefox seems to be a victim of a redirect problem with google. I have used mbam but no fix. Spybot has revealed no infections and I'm not sure what to do with my Hijack this log. I also tried to renew my ip address but no fix either.

Other computers can use the internet just fine.

Well this is how it started...

My computer was infected with something and I decided to do a full recovery on it. As I tried to do a full recovery, something went wrong. And when it restarted, I got the message that I was missing a "hal.dll" file of some sort. I didn't know what to do so I decided to use my HP mini CD which is the Windows XP operating system and tried to install it on my Emachines computer.

Now when it starts, it gives me two options of which operating system I want to use. My first question is:

Is there a way I can recover the old factory settings of the Emachines and the pre-installed Windows it had on there?

And now lately, my computer has been running slow, specifically the browsers. It will freeze for at least 15 minutes or so depending on the content of the page until it is fully loaded.

Am I infected? And can I fix this?

Answer:My browsers take awhile to load...

Problem is "I have McAffe Security Center installed with Antivirus, Privacy Service and Firewall." It will block images from sites unless they are on your safe list - either change the settings - or better yet - unistall it and go with better - less inasive - not to mention free programs to meet your needs.

I'm beyond frustrated So here's my issue..About a week ago, my internet went down in the area.  I didn't realize it was the whole area at first, I though it was just something wrong with our household internet so I unplugged and plugged our router back in [which has always worked before when we had an issue in the house] but no luck.  My PS3 was telling me it was a DNS error so I went to my router configuration and reset all the settings.  Keep in mind I really don't know too much about all this stuff so I just try things I know how to do and see if it works, hahaSo the next morning, I found out the internet was down in our area.  That afternoon it was working again but I still couldn't connect so my brother unplugged, and plugged the modem back in and voila!  it worked again.Only problem was that half of my browsers would not load pages.  IE worked, and so did Firefox.. but Flock and Opera would not connect.  It was telling me it couldn't connect to remote server.  I tried to install the beta of google chrome, but it said it couldn't connect to the internet to install it.  And I downloaded the Windows version of Safari.. not loading any pagesI've searched google endlessly and done everything that people have said would work, and still nothing.  Last night I updated Firefox, which was working.... Hi guys, hoping someone can help, I bought a new laptop about a month ago and it's worked fine, I installed google chrome because I find it the best browser and that has been fine, I was downloading something the other day and I ended up with another browser on my desktop called torch, I'd never heard of it so I loaded it up and since I did that google chrome stopped working, so I tried loading up my Internet explorer but that never loaded anything either, so I then uninstalled torch completely but chrome still didn't work and then tried to uninstall google chrome but the computer won't let me stating that I need to close all google chrome tabs including in windows 8 mode and try again.I'm so stuck and have no Internet at all because my browsers won't open,
Can anyone help please
Thanks in advance

Answer:None of my browsers will load the Internet

Try a system restore. Choose the restore point that should have been made right before torch installed. If not, choose one farther back, but only go back as far as needed. You want to choose the closest one right before installing the program.

You can get there by typing system restore in Windows 8 search bar.

None of the browsers (IE, Chrome or FF) on my PC will load webpages following the installation of SP3 on Windows XP.

I can ping sites and also my email still works (not webmail).

I have a wireless router and all others PC's using the same router can view webpages so it looks like it is a problem on the PC that is preventing the loading of webpages.

I tried uninstalling the wireless adaptor and reinstalling but that made no difference.

I had a malware problem about a week ago but that was cleaned with the help of the experts on this website. I then proceeded to install SP3 the other day and since then I can't get webpages to load.

My operating system is Mac OS X Version 10.7.5. Earlier, I accidentally quit Dropbox (from my Menubar). The green checkmark that indicates all files are updated was still there prior to my quitting the application. But when I quit Dropbox, it disappeared from my Menubar. I then downloaded and installed the latest version of Dropbox for Mac, and now the icon appears on my Menubar... but it's still connecting. It's been like this for around 4 hours already. I don't understand why my Dropbox folder doesn't indicate "connected" and why I can't access the Dropbox website, because I'm able to connect to the Internet.

I need to access my updated Dropbox folder (urgent). Please help, and thanks in advance!

Answer:Solved: My Dropbox folder won't update + the Dropbox website won't load.

I see you've marked your thread as being "solved". Would you please be so kind as to reply back what the solution was as this can be helpful to others who may experience the same problem.

When I open the Firefox it does not load but saying is not responding and to check my modem or internet connection. The modem is working fine because all other phones and computers at home are connected to it and none is having this issue. When I click on internet explore it's the same thing I cannot connect. It's saying that windows is unable to connect to the internet. Now I have it plug in directly to the modem and it shows that is connecting but when I open the two browsers that I'm using it still doesn't load. Can anyone help me?

I have long had problems with slow starting up of the PC. I have tried removing virtually all start up programmes, running Scans, defrag etc. The main problem has been when loading the browser. It effects IE and Firefox. The hard disc light flashes away sometimes for half an hour before the browser loads and you can hear it whirring very slowly. Even when the internet browser loads, it initially runs so slowly that it often malfunctions and needs re-starting which leads to further problems as the ' do you want to report the problem to microsoft message is being generated in the background at a snail's pace.

Probably a rather unclear description of the problem , but I am happy to clarify if anyone has an idea as this really drives me mad. I always have to allow at least half an hour before I can expect to get online. I had convinced myself it was IE, so downloaded Firefox. I think, Firefox may be slightly better, but the problem is still there.

Answer:Browsers so slow to load up on start up.

What is your maintenance program for your system? Please name the programs you use so we can assist you further

I would suggest for starters you download and run CCleaner to clear out you temporary internet files.

Please, if you are not familiar with the software read the review thoroughly and do not use the registry cleaner option of the program.

kind regards,

I've been experiencing a strange kind of internet problems for quite some time now. I don't know when this started. What happens is that randomly after some time I can't load any sites, I get 404 kind of error messages all the time. Sometimes when I try to load a page some random page gets displayed instead, for example I try to go to and shows up. I can't ping any websites either. This is the case with any browser I use, however I can still use skype, AIM, etc. and I can browse the internet on my Wii. I use Windows Vista and I have Norton 360 installed. I have updated Norton 360 to version 2, yet the problem still persists. I feel like it takes longer before the problem appears, but it still happens. A simple restart won't solve the problem either. However when I turn off the computer and turn it on the next day, everything is working again, until after some hours the problem appears again.
I hope my description isn't too confusing.

Answer:All browsers can't load any sites after some time

Copy and paste this into the Command prompt:

netsh winsock reset catalog

Press Enter

Then copy and paste this in:

welcome to the forum

first of all you shouldnt have more then one antivirus:

Here is a quote from an article:

Now, one piece of advice that applies equally to AVs and firewalls. You only need one of each! Having more than one firewall and AV can cause possible conflicts and system instability. Although you may think you have more protection by having more than one of each, it could cause you problems you were not expecting.

Click Here for the original article.

So please if you have more than one Antivirus or Firewall choose the one you want to keep and use and uninstall the rest.

do you have this problem in all browsers or just 1e

I've used Firefox on my two PCs (XP) and two laptops (XP and Win7) for years. I've noticed more recently that all of them seem to have problems with loading up web pages compared to how older versions of FF were working.

I've tried using IE and Opera as well and they seem to be slow as well. All computers are running either AVG or Avast antivirus software.

If I try to open something, I can look down in the left side of the lower task bar and it will either say, "waiting for .........." or "transferring from....... " Regardless of which it is, I endure a slow painful page load up.

I've noticed this when traveling with my laptops so I know that its not just a problem with my home's internet and/or router. Some websites are worse than others because of bandwidth (I assume!)

Is it just that the web is being bombarded with so many advertisements, cookies and spyware that browsers are forced to "work harder" resulting in slower web page loading?

I've got little to no patience and I'm very sensitive to how my computers are running. In other words, I notice things like this and even my wife has noticed slower web page loading.

I forgot to mention that both laptops have recently been reformatted so they are fresh.

Answer:Web browsers slow to load up webpages

It is not ads. Cause you can hide them/disable them. This would be due to the connection and the number of people on it. Simple as that. Do you have WPA2 Security with a strong 16 character password that would take any brute force program at least a couple of days to crack? Or do you have some simple password that can be guessed by just about anyone who knows even a small detail about you?

What is your ISP speed as reported by SpeedTest.Net?

What extenstions do you have running?

What other programs do you have running?

How much RAM is in use? How many CPU Cycles?

Everything comes into effect. Sorry to inform you but no PC will stay as fast as it was the very first day you bought it. PC Hardware wears down. It starts to slow down. It is a fact of the industry. Even on a fresh install you can have more wear and tear on your hard drive causing read times to be longer.

Basically i have come to the conclusion that it has nothing what so ever to do with my internet conection as i am conected to the internet, but when i click internet explorer, safari or firefox, they all come up with the same error message '' diagnose conection problems'' but when i click to identify problems, it says '' Windows did not find any problems with the internet conection ''

So my computer has been running fine for a while and then yesterday Firefox stopped loading pages mid-session. The internet is still connected (programs can get online without a browser) but trying to load any page within Firefox or IE will just result in a never ending load (it doesn't even time out). The browsers will work in safemode however.

Any ideas?

Answer:Internet Connected but Browsers Won't Load

how are you connected via a modem or through an office internet connection? Try check your ip address settings, the gateway IP?
Check your LAN cable is it properly connected, try also to ping your Internet Service Providers router if you will get a reply.
I reckon its your IP address settings.

" all my 4 browsers are unable to open any websites" can someone help

- None of my 4 browsers can open/load any websites.
- My internet connection is fine - Ping is fine
- In safe mode the websites do load/open correctly
- The firewall has been checked to ensure nothing was blocked.
- Ports 21 & 20 were added as suggested online.
- I have spent the last two weeks trying to fix that.
- The day prior to the issue, I downloaded a dodgy program that reset my laptop clock to 2006 - stopping few programs. I have done a system restore and deleted the program and all was good till I tried to use laptop the following day.

- (message from network diagnostic in IE9:
"windows did not detect any problems with your internet connection over HTTP and HTTPS , but was not able to make a successful connection over FTP. The most likely cause of this problem is that a firewall client running on your machine is blocking the necessary FTO ports.
If you are trying to use FTP. Please contact the manufacturer of your personal computer for assistance."

- The message on the Firefox browser is:
"The connection was reset"
" The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading"

- I use HP Pavillion dv5000 with XP
- All our other laptops at home are working fine.
There are plenty of "solutions" online but none I tried helped....

I have a friend's computer that is having problems loading any type of Web browser, along with most internet applications.

They are able to log onto msn messenger, yet games that require internet activity they cannot.

They are able to ping websites perfectly fine.

I did find this in the host file
which i erased and changed back to localhost

Any suggestions?

Answer:Internet Browsers, wont load...

Hi, the first thing i could think of is bad browser configuration or Malware.
Make sure that pc has antivirus and antispyware check if you can update and perform a full scan.

Then switch on pc, keep pressing f8, choose safe mode, log in as administrator
now Can you access the internet
Also in safe
click start then run type
inetcpl.cpl, click connection, then lan settings, make sure automatically detect settings i set, and make sure proxy server is not enabled.

Also find the firewall, in control panel, and temporary disable it.

Since Sunday, my PC has been acting weird:
- Google Chrome does not load any page, it just tells me that the page is not responding and asks to either wait or kill the page. Choosing "kill" does not do anything and the page does not load however long I wait.
- Firefox stops responding invariably when going to a new page. This lasts for maybe 3-5 minutes. The same for IE.
- I cannot download any .exe file. Something about my settings not allowing me, other files like doc works fine though.
- Some plugins can no longer load_flash, shockwave.

I have tried several software_tdsskiller and dr. web cure-it. I also have Comodo but none of these have found anything. I have tried malwarebyte's anti-malware and it did pick up something, PUP.StartUpManager. Removing it has not changed anything.

I have Windows XP sp3 Dell Inspiron 1501 and I notice that any web browser I use takes ages to load and when it does, it soon becomes unresponsive. I use Chrome, IE8 and sometimes Firefox. IE8 still becomes unresponsive even with add-ons disabled. This is what I have done so far:

Disk Frag
Search for disk errors
IOBIT tuneup
CHKDSK in safe mode
Ran Virus anti-spyware
Ran Malwarebytes

All come back clean. It's only the web browsers this happens on, rest is fine.
Anymore pointers, would be most welcome.

I need help trying to figure out why all three of my web browsers (Google Chrome, Mozilla Fire Fox, and Internet Explorer) will not load certain content on the same website.
Here's the thing, I home school my daughter and there's a particular website that I have to log into to view the curriculum. Well yesterday I went to log in and I was not able to access any of the course information on my personal laptop. I called tech support through the school but they are not able to help me but to liability issues because it is my personal computer. My daughter has a laptop that the school provided and she is not having the same issue. That's how I know it is my pc. I asked tech support can they give me an idea what it may be and he said since I am having the same problem on all my web browser that most likely it is an issus with java. I updated my java to see if that will work and it didn't. I tried to access the information on the webpage again today and still the same problem.
I can't remember doing anything new to my computer so I am not sure where to pinpoint the problem. When I log into the school web page the content that won't load just gives an error message saying "error loading content."
My operating system is windows xp and I am not sure what other information you may need. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Answer:All my web browsers will not load certain content on the same web page.

Try completely uninstalling Java through add or remove programs. Then re-install and reboot, see if this fixes your problem. I've no idea if it will work, but it's definitely worth a shot. Also, try downloading Ccleaner. (Google is your friend). Run it, and try to view the webpage again.

Basically I had a malware infection on my Windows 7 laptop which I removed with malware bytes. After that though my internet browsers wont load anything but my steam friends list still loads and I can still play games online. So I did a full scan with MSE and found some virus called "browsermodifier" so I deleted that but still no internet. I've tried opening up the cmd and running the commands to reset my IP and flush dns etc none of that worked. I can't get a ping on Google but I can get one on my home IP so the internet driver is working. I've tried running FSS but my internet services are all fine. I've tried going into internet options LAN settings and making sure the proxy setting isn't ticked. No matter how much I Google this on my phone none of the solutions work!!
Please can anyone help me?

Hi guys,

I couldn't figure out how to fix this by myself, so I need to post this annoying problem in here. Most images couldn't load properly in some websites, i.e Tumblr. I tried all different browsers, they are acting the same.

I tried clearing all caches, cookies, etc in all browsers with CCleaner, scanned my computer with Avast! and Malwarebytes, restarted my computer, disabled adblock extensions.. and still the same, it didn't fix successfully.

Anyone know why are they acting like this, and tell me how to fix it, please?

Answer:Images do not load properly in all browsers

I have one XP Pro Dell Optiplex PC that runs fine except that web pages don't always fully load,
or you get the raw data from the page (which looks very different).
Does not always happen...strange.

I suspected the network card was bad, so I put in a wifi card and same thing happemed
I have 5 other PCs on network that are working fine. Auto lan IP set.

The PC is clean of viruses. Use CCleaner often.
I have even tried different graphics cards.

All I can guess is that it's the motherboard.
Anyone ever see this?

Answer:Pages won't fully load on all browsers

Have you tried with any other browsers such as Firefox or Chrome?

This may be something localized to Internet Explorer.

You could try resetting IE's settings back to default by going into the Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced Tab -> Reset button towards the bottom
