Dell Dimension C521; USB key/mouse driver load interrupted by video card driver load

Question: Dell Dimension C521; USB key/mouse driver load interrupted by video card driver load

I'm working with a Dell Dimension C521 PC. It came with a PCI-Express video card which apparently has failed, yet the motherboard itself has on-board video. The system will boot using this video output (as opposed to the card which produced nothing) but when it finally gets to windows the auto-detect driver routine kicks in and begins to detect the video card, prompting the user to "Continue Anyway" to finish installing unsigned drivers. Unfortunately this event takes place in front of the installation of the USB keyboard and mouse (times like these I wish it had PS/2 ). Anyway, whether I boot up into Safe Mode or normal a prompt comes up about installing drivers for the on-board chipset. I can't interact with it because the driver install routine for the keyboard/mouse becomes interrupted.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Dell Dimension C521; USB key/mouse driver load interrupted by video card driver load

Bump. I've been thinking... the only way I think this can be fixed is if I boot from a Linux CD or something similar and delete a particular set of drivers for this video card. It can't prompt you to install any drivers if they don't exist, right? But I don't know where to go to delete such files and prevent them from automatically trying to install themselves. Any ideas?

Hi Everyone,

I have a Dell Dimension C521 desktop computer, and recently I made the mistake of updating it's BIOS. Originally the BIOS installed was version 1.1.8, and now I have 1.1.10 installed.

Since installing the new BIOS my computer does not boot up normally. Even though I have set the boot order correctly the computer will not load Windows. Instead after the BIOS post screen I simply see a cursor flashing in the top left corner of my screen.

Ironically if I press F12 during the boot sequence and manually select the Hard Disk drive Windows will load.

It is as though the computer does not recognize to boot Windows unless manually told to do so.

Any ideas?

Davo

Hi, I have had my Dell Dimension for about 6 month now and it has been running fine, but recently when I start up the machine it breaks on the screen where it says "DELL" in big letters and "Dell Dimension C521" with the loading bar at the bottom, it gets half way then just stops. I have left it up to half an hour to see if it was just 'stuck' but it doesn’t move, so I manually shut it down and re-boot and it works fine. This isn’t really a major problem but it can get annoying when I’m trying to do system updates and it restarts, breaking, forcing me to restart it again.

I have Dell Dimension C521, with Windows Vista. Guessing I don’t really need to post any tech spec because it’s not spec related.

Does anyone else have this problem, Thanks for the help. Ed

I can't seem to get Windows 7 SP1 to load a driver for an HP printer that is on my home network. My laptop sees it but won't let me make it the default printer or load a driver so that I can link to it wirelessly. I restored my laptop back to windows 7
because Windows 10 was moving too slow. I only have 4gigs of memory, and windows 10 probably runs better with 8gigs of memory.

What type of PCI card should I buy to allow me to use a firewire connection on my Dell Dimension C521. Low profile with 3 slots available:
PCI express * 1 card slot, PCI express *16 card slot, PCI card slot. What are the differences between these slot?

Answer:PCI CARD NEEDED FOR DELL DIMENSION C521

AFAIK the difference is the speed of the data it can handle (same as usb 2 is faster than usb1), here is a good simple chart with the different speeds

I recently installed an nvidia geforce fx5500 video card, (which works great), in my dell dementia 2300. I have been thru the bios and thru hardware add/remove, to find the older video drivers, (on-board video), I want to remove them. Any idea where they are, or how to remove any older drivers, or do I need too? I am also running windows vista, I tried installing the original drivers but vista doesnt support them, hence the new video card. I want to be sure that there will be no conflicts, and that no system memory is used for the on-board video.

Thanks to all!!

Has anyone had this issue before or know how I can locate and install the proper driver?

I'm having trouble figuring out which driver to use, the Dell support site lists 4 different possible drivers. I've tried 3 of them, 2 of them worked for a while, then video goes into a horrible mode and/or I get a device driver error message. I can leave it in default 640 mode and it works fine. Can anyone tell me which driver to use, and exactly how to install it?

I tried posting on Dell Support, they deleted my post because I listed the service tag.

You will not get win 10 video or chipset drivers for the old laptop since they don't exist, so you have to make do with lower resolutions on the new monitor. Touch will not work on the old laptop. Time to upgrade to a new computer!

Answer:Video Driver won't load

Greetings

Update to the latest Service pack first. You will only need to download Service pack 6a as the Service packs are incremental.

Most new screen drivers need for at least service pack 3 to be install before they will work.

Hi,I run dos software which runs ok under XP. If I run this software under Vista it will not run full screen. In Vista I inadvertantly deleted the video driver and loaded a basic one.Now my stuff runs full screen but will not clear the screen before it paints the next one.My program can send a up to 8 characters  to clear the screen. Any idea what those characters are?Can I load an XP video driver?RegardsGeoffl

Answer:Load XP video driver in Vista

QuoteMy program can send a up to 8 characters  to clear the screen. Any idea what those characters are?CLS will clear screen in DOS from DOS command line, but I doubt it will work within the program this way. You can give it a try and see what happens. Worst that can happen is it to respond with invalid function etc. Whats the program called if it is not a custom program, but one that was sold as a package?Have you tried using XP compatability mode in Vista to have this program run under reverse compatability? Also there is a setting in Vista to where you can launch command prompt via CMD and when the window pops up, right-click on the top of the dos shell window frame and select properties and then select Full Screen under display options, and then you can then select Save Properties for Future Windows with the same title. If the program is launched from command prompt by going to CMD first, the title will start off as the same in full screen and your program should remain in full screen. ( *I haven't worked with Vista in a while, but this should be the method )

I am totally pulling my hair out. All of a sudden yesterday, my computer screen went blank and I got the common (no video signal) on my LCD monitor. I have tried using the original XP disk and repairing. It seems to have fixed things, but I still have no video signal. I CAN run windows in safe mode. What I have done is disabled my video driver in Safe mode, then rebooted. I can get into normal windows through this method.

I have tried downloading a new driver for my video card, but the same problem happens. As soon as I load up the driver, It craps out again. I also get an occasional, screen with lots of small, distorted pixels. I am running out of options. I have tried a system restore, which did not work either. Anyone have advise before I drop another 300 bucks on a video card?

Thanks,
Steve

Answer:Win XP will not load up with my video driver enabled

Hi Steve and welcome to TSF !

Could be an hardware issue, the 2D part of the video card is working fine but the 3D part needs more power and creates more heat.

Please give us your complete system specs. If this is some brand computer brand and model will be enough, else check the posting system specs link in my sig and don't forget the brand, model and wattage of your power supply (you'll need to open the computer case to check the sticker that's on the power supply itself).

If this is a desktop then with the power cord unplugged and the case opened check that there's no dust on the fans (power supply, video card and cpu) and heatsinks. If there's dust buy a can of compressed air at a local electronics or computer shop to clean it. Replug and restart the computer and check that all the fans are spinning.

Enter the BIOS at startup (repeatedly press del or look for some "press xx to enter setup" message) and search for an hardware monitor or pc health & status screen. Report your temps, fan speeds and voltages from there.

I have a Dell Inspiron 11 3168, Tag GS5B0C2, that will not allow the re-installation of Win10 or a Win7 OS. I have tried all combinations of the BIOS Legacy/UEFI - Secure boot (OFF) settings, along with the USB boot memsticks having multiple different versions of Win10 and Win7.I have even loaded Linux/GPart on to a USB memstick, booted into Linux Gparted and wipe the hard drive clean. This laptop was given to me because someone, prior to me, had done "something" and it would not boot whatsoever or respond to any keystrokes other than Bios setup(F2) and boot order (F12), and I would get an on screen display of either generic DOS "No boot device" message or a Dell message saying "No boot device"!As it stands with the hard drive wiped, and a bootable USB memstick loaded with either Win10 OR Win7, the installation process proceeds normally right up to the point where you choose the hard drive to install OS, and then an error message is displayed that says "A required drive device driver is missing" that does not appear to be on either version (Win10 or Win7) of the bootable USB memstick.
I opened this machine up and there is NO HDD or SSD in this unit, just a permanently mounted 32gb MMC chip from Sandisk.

The problem lies with WHATEVER OS I try to install with! (UEFI or LEGACY) It needs to access the "MMC 32gb" chip as a hard drive. I shot an email off to Sandisk (mfr of the MMC32gb Chip) and they say it was specially made for D... Read more

Cannot remember where my post is but I have just finished my Ivy Bridge build to go - not fully finished.

Now I am trying ti install a driver for an Asus Xonar sound card and I keep getting a message to check my front panel configuration is to HD or AC.

The board is an Asus P8Z77-V and I have checked in the BIOS that the peripheral setup is set to HD and as far as I can see it should just install the driver but I keep getting this now very irritating message.

The Xonar GUI is ok but no sound!!

Any help please ?

Answer:Can't load driver for Xonar card

Something is not playing well since the front panel should not interfere with the Xonar card and its driver working unless you haven't disabled the onboard sound in the BIOS (HD Audio Controller).

Hi zer0118,

It looks like some of the computer hardware component drivers aren't installed on that computer. Did the seller tell you if there was any issue with the computer? Try going to Toshiba's website when you can and download the drivers (Chipset drivers, Video Card drivers, etc.etc.) for your Toshiba computer.

So the resolution is default in the startup screen of Windows.
Doesn't matter which Windows version I have and all the drivers are up-to-date.

When I restart mostly the problem is solved....

I don't know which OS do you use now but have you tried to reinstall video (display) driver?
I also hope you use driver offered on Toshiba download page.

The system is a Dell Dimension 3000, Win XP sp2, 40G hard drive. I use ZA, Grisoft AVG anti-virus, Spybot, Spywareblaster, and AdAware. Recently I purchased a Maxtor external drive to help take the bloat off of the original 40G.

I've only used the Maxtor a few times to transfer files (just to get used to the thing). Yesterday I tried a backup using it; the system responded that the backup had failed. In the meantime, I also noticed several problems with AdAware, Spybot, and AVG. Neither AdAware, nor Spybot would uninstall, Spybot wouldn't do a system check, and, until I did a system rollback, AVG had disappeared. The rollback brought up a few more problems with missing files and whatnot.

I decided to reinstall XP. Recently, with some help from bleepingcomputer, I did this successfully with our Dell 8200, but the 3000 is proving to be a pain. The first reinstall seemed to take, but I could not attain I-net access as the system didn't seem to recognize the Ethernet connection. I couldn't resize the screen, either. Consequently, I tried doing a second reinstall. Now the system boots to a screen where I can choose one of two versions of XP. The first version (on drive C, I'm assuming), gives the following:

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
<Windows root>\system32\hal.dll.
Please re-install a copy of the above file.

Answer:Dell Dimension 3k Won't Load Os

When you reinstalled XP apparently you installed a second copy of the OS. This is far too easy to do when using an "XP CD" (aka "XP Installation CD" aka "XP OEM CD"). The prompts that are provided in the installation program are non-intuitive. Shame on MS (again). Also, apparently you have your internal hard drive partitioned into multiple volumes. Possibly the external hard drive was given the new copy if it was hooked up and powered on at the time of the install. When this is done and XP is installed again, the default action that the installer takes is to put another copy of XP on another volume ! What in the world was MS thinking ?!To properly reinstall XP, first make sure that the USB drive is at least turned off or disconnected. Rerun the install. All the partitions/volumes that exist on the internal hard drive(s) will be listed. Most store-bought systems have only a single drive with a single partition/volume on it. When asked, choose to do a fresh install of XP. There is an option to reformat the C: volume - do this using the NTFS filesystem. If more than one volume is listed then reformat each one. This will completely wipe out all the old installations. You will then be asked again which volume to install XP. If there is only one volume available then choose this. If there is more than one choose what you think was the old C: volume. Finish the installation.Make sure you have all the drivers for your PC available on a CD before y... Read more

Answer:Dell Dimension C521

Well what specs do you plan on having for the pc, the Dimension c521 comes in my already configed specs by dell or you can customize it. The c521 is dells lowest priced desktop so it has vista basic, intergrated graphics which arent good for gaming and since its a very small form faxctor this leaves very small room for expanisons which even normal sized oem pcs are limited on upgrades. Even if this system has a pci-express video card its going to be half height which limits chocies for future upgrades.

I got this computer about 3 years ago and it was pretty simple. So I upgraded later on with some Ram, so instead of 512mb I have now 2.5gigs.Recently I was thinking to upgrade my memory again, to add an additional gig, unfortunately I found out that because my 512mb ram runs at 533Mhz the other 2 gigs won't run at 800mhz like they are supposed nor will the new 1gig memory run at the speed it supposed to.So I tried to remove the 512mb Ram, that was originally in the machine, but the computer won't boot any OS, it just makes the pipping constantly, it's a long pip, for about 30 seconds or so then stops and then starts again.I went to Dell and tried to upgrade the Ram and what they giving me is basically the same options for my exact computer, I did the analyze. So they are just showing me the 800mhz ram but if I upgrade it, it won't run at 800mhz because of the 512 Ram. Get it? Let me know if there isn't enough info, I can try to give you more, just not sure what else to give. Thanks in advance.

I just checked the dell website and it says for my computer type the ram is this.

Your Dimension C521 System Specs
System specs as shipped by the manufacturer.
Scan your system to view your specific system configuration.
Memory:
DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 PC2-6400

Does that mean I can put either the pc2 5300 in there or the pc2 6400 in the computer and they both will work? If so should I get the 6400 I presume?

First post so I apologize if I do something wrong.

I have a Dell Dimenson E510 which is about 4 years old. I had a problem with it about two weeks ago and I had to do a CHKDSK on it to get it back. Now the computer all of a sudden after working fine for two weeks comes up with the Dell screen and then the screen goes black and nothing happens. Not totally black like the monitor goes off, a light black and the computer just sits there.

I tried running CHKDSK again and it said it had an error. I ran it again and it said it fixed the error, but same problem upon boot up.

I tried booting in safe mode and like three drivers of the list come up and then it freezes there and does nothing else.

I am at a loss here as I can usually figure this stuff out and get it fixed. My wife will kill me if I lose this because all of our pictures are on the hard drive and just last week I was looking at a backup external drive and decided to wait until I get my tax refund. Great idea.

PLEASE HELP!

Thanks so much!!!

Hello,

I recently purchased 2 gb worth of RAM to upgrade my Dell Dimension C521 that only had 512mb. I received the upgrade yesterday and attempted to install it myself. I removed the old RAM and place the two new RAM into my PC. I turned it on and all I got was a black screen and I heard a beeping noise. I powered down again and put the old RAM back in. THe computer came on and there was no beeping, but I still have a black screen. My monitor seems to be in powersave mode, all most like my PC doesn't recognize the monitor. I took the new RAM out and place the old one back in and it works fine.. Is this comomn? Am I doing something wrong? Need a little help!!

Thanks

Matt

Hello, various other people have posted this error (search function used), but noone has gotten an answer. Whenever i try to upgrade my sound driver to  4.76.0.0 / 3.54.0.51,be it manually or via system update the sound driver gets messed up. To sound icon in the taskbar gets a red X, the sound card in device manager gets a "!", and says "Windows could not load driver". In other threads people suggested the driver is not signed so Vista64 refuses to load it, however under Driver details it says its signed by Microsoft...  I would appreciate if someone could tell me how they got this driver to work on their 64bit machine, i'd like to enjoy the fixes and benefits of the new version. Thanks.

Okay so, my laptop's system is unable to boot, so I just tried to format it since I have to do that for a very long time, and when it asked me in which partition I want to install windows there was nothing, although when I clicked "Load Driver" I could access the hard disk's files, the hard disk IS listed in the bios normally but windows does not recognize it, I tried using Kaspersky Rescue disk(the only CD I had along with the recovery disk)and when I used the File Manager, the hard disk still didn't show, are there any drivers I have to install?I have burned both fujitsu
9that's my laptop) and Seagate's websites and can't find anything, I have searched forums but the only answers were
"check if your hd is listen in bios".So, it IS listed in bios but I can't reinstall windows nor access it, any suggestions?

Answer:No drivers found. click load driver to provide a mass storage driver f

Nevermind, I sent my laptop to a technician and he told me I burnt the hard drive by destroying some cables while cleaning with compressed air.

Hi there!
I'm in a desperate need of help.
This is the situation (sorry for my bad English as always...).
Yesterday I left my PC running with a download in progress through MiPony.I told the program MiPony (for the first time) to shut down the PC at the end of the download.Until then the PC had no problem. Before going to bed I checked the PC and I saw that it was offThis morning I turned on the PC and I glimpsed a sign that it was starting a scan (the only letter I saw was I:\) but I could not stop it.The PC is turned on regularly. Only half an hour later I found out that an entire 3TB HDD in 4 partitions had disappearedI did some search and found this error: The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device ROOT\PARAGONBLOCKDEVICE\0000.I tried to reboot but same situation (no scan and normal situation) but NO drive.I checked the event log (attached) and I see the problem started after 4 different event regarding my network connection (It's a week that I have to reset the modem \ router several times a day)

I am seeing several of these Warnings in the Event Viewer, Windows System logs. These are Event ID 219, Source Kernel-PnP.

That said, I am not experiencing any crashes, freezes, BSODs, and everything on my PC seems to be functional. So perhaps I can safely ignore these warnings, but I prefer to get to the bottom of something in case it will lead to problems in the future.

I have done some online research on this event, and none of the suggested fixes seem applicable to me. I have been vigilant in keeping all drivers on my machine up to date. I've checked, and there don't seem to be any newer drivers available for any of my hardware. I also have the Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework service set to "automatic" startup.

The details of this event are below.

Any suggested action to remedy my problem? Thanks!

Hi all, I have a Dell M1530 XPS and what a nightmare I am having installing Windows 7 on it.
I go to install and get hit by this message
"No Drives were found. Click Load Driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation"
When I click next nothing happens I have the to cancel the installation.

I have tried pressing F2 to bring up the setup menu but do not know what to do from there.
I have had a brand new motherboard fitted from dell and now unsure what model I have now.
Using Belerc Advisor this is what it says about my system, any help would be great:

Hi there

Some problems I had and that also BSOD alot was that the hard disc compability mode was set wrongly, if so you would not see the discs.

Check in bios for somwthing like "AHCI" mode and "Compability" mode.

Put it to compability as otherwise special drivers are neededm ones added you can swap this back to get more speed.

Hi -

Is this your system? --> http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...=3870526#N1740

If link does not work, paste this into web browser address bar -

I don't see XP listed as an OS for it. What OS came pre-installed?

Is the copy of Vista a full retail copy? If so, back up any files you need and wipe the HDD with KillDisk. Then try Vista installation again.

I reinstalled my XP and now I need to reinstall my drivers which I know how to do I just don't know in what order to do it. Please translate for me. The Dell website says I'm supposed to install in this order for my computer:

1 - Desktop System Software
2 - Chipset
3 - Video Adapter
4 - Network Interface Card
5 - Audio Adapter
6 - Modem
7 - Wireless Network Card
8 - Mice, Keyboards

But when I put my driver cd in these are the ones listed for my computer:

Video Drivers
Audio Drivers
Controller Drivers
Miscellaneous Utilities
Modem Diagnosis
Modem Drivers
Network Diagnosis
Network Drivers
System Applications
System Dell Diagnosis
System Drivers
Video Diagnosis

In what order do I install these? (Note: if they don't label it exactly the same I don't know what I'm doing and they're confusing me here lol). So just looking at my drivers and the order in which they say to install can you tell me what order I install mine?

Thanks,
Jen

Answer:Trying to install Dell Dimension C521 Drivers

What matters is to install chipset driver first. After that, any order is fine.

Hello please can you help?I have a Dell Dimension C521 PC that I've been trying to fix for my son over the past week. The original problem was that it wouldn't boot and the usb keyboard wouldn't respond to keys being pressed (no power on light) in order to restart in safe mode which required us to press the arrow keys to select safe mode (no keys responding), so the system automatically attempted to boot in normal mode, which caused it go to a blue screen. Because the keyboard wasn't responding we couldn't access the bios set up by pressing F2 repeatedly. There is no ps2 port for this computer, so we bought a new usb keyboard ensuring it was compatible with Windows XP, but that didn't work either. Achieving the same results as above. Then we tried the Dell operating system Windows XP reinstallation DVD, to see if it would boot from that, but it didn't work and there was no change and got the same screens as above. We then tried clearing the CMOS by removing the battery for an hour and replacing it. On restarting the computer it gave a black sreen with an error message: Diskette Failure, Motherboard Failure, invalid configuration, please use set up disk. Alert memory low. We inserted the OS reinstall disk again, shut it down and allowed the battery we had replaced to recharge. Then powered up with the Dell OS Windows XP reinstallation DVD and it booted and started reinstalling the system, going through all the set up options etc. Once it rebooted past the initial black error scre... Evening All.
My friend has a Dell Dimension C521. Came with Vista Basic on Board. Someone in her IT section said " I'll put XP home on it - Don't like Vista"
Re-set worked except sound. Hardware is Sigma Tel 9227 Codec 7.1 Audio Channel. Windows is convinced that Audio is working but it isn't. I assume that this is a Vista driver they have downloaded and won't work with XP.
There is a 5.1 version to download but how do I get rid of the one that is already there. Any advice would be appreciated.

Eric

Answer:Sound Problem with Dell Dimension C521

You should be able to uninstall the current driver by going to the Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. Then simply uninstall like you would uninstall any other program. Restart the PC when the uninstall has finished. When Windows loads up again, the New Hardware Wizard will probably open up and try to reload the sound driver... cancel it. Then click on this link to download the Microsoft UAA Hi-Def Audio Driver (also known as KB888111). Install it, then install the sound driver you want to use, and restart the PC after installing the drivers, and all should be well!!!
Good luck, let us know how it goes, and welcome to Major Geeks!!! :wave

Hello and thank you for reading the time to read this post.

About a few months ago, I started to experience a very strange problem with my mouse--which many have described before-- it is basically erratic behavior, hard to move it from left to right up down etc. This occurs sometimes when batteries are low so I replaced the batteries and no luck, then I tried switching the usb port of the receiver and still no luck. i then concluded it was the mouse so I went out and bought a new mouse... still, the new mouse was ALSO acting erratically so I can only conclude that their must be some kind of problem with my USB ports...

I should note that I recently purchased a new laptop and the mouse functions properly on that computer so I don't believe it is a problem with the mouse...

The kicker is that, my wireless card which is also USB related, works fine... And also my keyboard(usb) works fine so realistically, I have no idea why my computer mouse is not functioning properly. I have tried 2 different mouse, have tried different USB ports, have the mouse working on diff computers but I can't get it to work on my main desktop, consistently that is... It works.. dont get me wrong but after some time it starts to act all weird for 5-10 minutes then works then acts weird and it makes it quite hard to game(which is what I enjoy using my desktop for)..

I realize this computer is a little old but I'm not ready to completely retire it as it is still fully functio... Read more

I hope this is in the right place, but if not, sorry about that in advance.

So i have a Dell dimension C521 that i got off of a friend who got it from his uncles friend and I need the restore disks. The person who originally bought the computer doesn't have them and I have tried requesting them but he doesn't know the name he used when he bought it (He is not the smartest person).

So I am wondering if there is anyone who has them and can share them on dropbox or somewhere, or has a link to where you can download them. If you have them I would greatly appreciate it.

Btw, I would prefer that they be the ones for Windows XP MCE 2005, but vista would be fine too because I have another one of these computers without a hard drive and I could just switch some parts out.

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) <-- This god for shaken message is stopping me from enjoying my computer.

The driver is MAT****A DVD-RAM UJ-861H ATA Device

And that up there is the error message, i havnt downloaded anything i just pressed the button on the cd/dvd drive and my computer shut down and when i turned it back on nothing it it worked.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Im practilly computer illiterate so please be easy on the big words and stuff =]

Answer:Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted

Please try the steps below:

1. Uninstall all third-party burning software, such as Nero and Roxio.

2. Perform a Clean Boot to test the result.

Clean Boot

========
a. Click Start, type "MSCONFIG" (without the quotations) in the Search Bar and Press "Enter" to start the System Configuration Utility.

Note: Please click Continue if the "User Account Control" window pops up.

b. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).
c. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK".
d. Restart the computer and test the issue.

Note: Clean Boot is a troubleshooting step. If some programs have been disabled, we can re-enable them later. If you see the System Configuration Utility, check the box of "Don't show this message" and then click "OK".

Please test this issue in the Clean Boot environment. If the issue disappears, we can use a 50/50 approach to quickly narrow down which entry is causing the issue.

If the issue persists, please contact your computer manufacturer to check if the DVD drive is damaged.

If not, you may need to restore the system to its factory settings.

Hope it helps.

Hi,

Since the 11/18/2012 event viewer (Event ID 219, Task Category 212) has been posting a warning:

The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device WpdBusEnumRoot\UMB\2&37c186b&0&STORAGE#VOLUME#_??_USBSTOR#DISK&VEN (followed by name of USB device)

It only occurs on start up if I have a USB memory device plugged into a USB port. The USB memory device functions perfectly and the error never occurs when I plug in and out a memory device after boot up.

The error only occurs for memory devices like memory sticks, external USB hard drive does not cause this error.

Checking back to around the 11/18/2012 I see nothing that I have changed/installed that might indicate something that has caused this. No other Windows 7 failures or issues.

Booting a second hard drive with windows 7 on the same system (I have this second installation for testing faults etc), the issue does NOT occur.

From checking forums and searching I have found a few others with this issue and a few articles on its cause

WUDFRd failed to load for the device

Event ID 219 is logged after you install Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2

I was just curious as to why it would suddenly start occurring after a particular date when as far as I can tell I have not made any changes to anything around this date.

Also I wondered if there was a fix to stop this, other than removing a memory stick before boot up!

Any thoughts?

Answer:The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device... error

I just started getting this exact same error message logged in Event Viewer when I plug a USB stick into a USB port. It happens with two different sticks from two different manufactures, but it does not happen every time I plug them in. It seems that it may mostly happen the first time I plug a stick in after I have booted up my PC.

Have you been able to find a solution to get these error codes to stop logging?

This has been a problem for over a year now. 140+ identical PCs running identical images, with identical keyboards. Some have the problem, some do not, and it's incredibly unpredictable.

PCs are HP Compaq Elite 8300 SFF running Windows 7 x64 Professional.

People will be working at their PC, hear the USB disconnect sound, and their keyboard will become unusable for 30+ seconds.

My PC started BSOD-ing a few days ago and now does it every few hours.

It starts with this error:

Then moves on to:

Then:
Installing printer driver Microsoft XPS Document Writer failed, error code 0x0, HRESULT 0x80070705. See the event user data for context information.

Then:

The print spooler failed to regenerate the printer driver information for driver Microsoft XPS Document Writer for environment Windows x64. Win32 system error code 1797 (0x705). This can occur after an operating system upgrade or because of data loss on the hard drive.

I was looking at my system logs today and found an error that is being repeated quite a lot and I would like to get rid of the darned error.

The error in the applications event loge is TrueVector Service, event 5003. The message in the event says:

TrueVector driver: Driver install or load failure: LoadNTDeviceDriver. Win32 error: The system cannot find the file specified.

I checked on the Internet and have found numerous resources indicating that TrueVector is a part of zone alarm. The weird part is that I have never had zone alarm or any other firewall installed -- Note even Microsft's within XP SP2. I have no references to Zone Alarm in my registry. My references to TrueVetor are in My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog\Application\TrueVector Service

Can someone suggest any soluton to getting rid of this event?

Ok I have done quite alot of searching on here and I have found out quite a few things I have exhausted every friggin resource imagineable. The only thing I have yet to try is the registry edit. Now I pretty much have that down I just have one simple question. When deleting the upper and lower filters...

While in the registry I have found the upper filters on the right hand side. The only problem there is - No lower filters.

Could this be a problem?

Also , do the upper/lower filters need to be removed from the Control set 001 and Control set 002 . Please get back to me ASAP.

The driver could not be loaded because a previous version of the driver is still in memory.

and now I am not able to connect any usb device to my laptop making it virtually impossible to use windows 10.
How do I downgrade to windows 7,have enough of the beta testing.
I even have a purchased version of windows 10 pro which I really regret buying, worst investment ever.

The machine works perfectly in every respect. Recently tried to add a wireless Avaya Silver card to the system.

Somehow the system has issues with the driver provided. I redownloaded the driver from the support site (now on version 7.62, the driver should support the card as a "Avaya Wireless PC Card".) I therefore do have the latest driver available.

Since the machine runs Windows 2000, with SP4 and all the fixes available, and I have not yet had issues on installing a card such as this on a Windows 2000 machine before, I'm a bit confused about what may be causing the issue.

The card is detected properly, and the driver is recognized. When installed the device manager keeps depicting a yellow exclamation mark on the Avaya card. When investigating this the error depicts that Windows 2000 cannot load the drivers on an error code 31.

I've found that Code 31 refers to possible support hardware that's giving issues. So I turned my attention to the CardBus controller (ToPIC100 according to the device manager). The version used is Microsoft, 06/20/2003, 5.00.2195.6717.

Appearantly there is a newer driver (5.1.2600.0) but I've not been successful in getting that one downloaded. Seems it's only available through Windows Update, which doesn't show the update as being available for the machine.

So... Anyone know how to get the Avaya Silver Wireless PCMCIA card active on a Satellite Pro 4320? Would I need a newer driver, or can't it be done at all?

Answer:Avaya PCMCIA card on a Satellite Pro 4320 machine - error code 31 at driver load

Hello Neko

I can not give you exact explanation what you can do but in my opinion everything you done was right. The only thing that may be is that you must install the driver at first and then put the card in PCMCIA slot. If there is any possibility check the installations order.

I've got a Dell Dimension C521
The hard drive seems to have gone
I turn it one, it hums away, but nothing can be seen on the monitor
(I've checked the monitor and that is OK)

I've got another Dell Dimension C521 - exact same model in everyway

What I wanted to do was open the faulty one and swap hard discs - just to confirm where the fault was

Problem: I simply can't get to the hard drive!
It's a very slim model and everything is tightly packed in

If I can take out the PSU, then I can take out the hard drive
But the PSU won't budge
It seems to be hooked onto something below, that is not within sight

I searched the net and came across the exact same PC
See the following link for the image of the inside:

This page was from:

http://www.gordyhand.co.uk/news.htm
(The pictures for the machine are half way down)

Can someone help and suggest anything??
I'm not a complete hardware expert - but at the same time am very home with opening and taking things out and replacing anything

Thanks!!

Apparently, I am one of many who seem to be having this issue. And just like everybody else, I turned to Google for some answers. Here is my scenario (perhaps gregrocker could point me in the right direction?):

I am running on a laptop with the following specs:

Dell Studio 1735
32-bit Vista Home Premium, SP1
Intel 2 Core Duo, T8100 @ 2.10 GHz
250 GB SATA HDD, 5400 RPM
4 GBs of RAM
256 ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650
8x Slot Load CD / DVD Burner (Dual Layer DVD+/-R Drive)

I downloaded the .iso image of Windows 7 through the software program at Penn State and burned it to a DVD. When I restart my computer and boot off of the DVD drive, I get the Windows 7 Installation interface. As the setup begins, I get an error message that says "Load Driver" across the top of the window, and says "A required CD/DVD Drive Device Driver is missing". I tried a few things to circumvent this issue:

1. I swapped out the installation CD with one of the CD's that came with my laptop that contains all of my device drivers. It found one compatible driver for the ATA/ATAPI Controller, and despite selecting it and hitting next, it didn't work.

2. I took the service tag from my laptop, downloaded each and every driver that it's associated with, burned it to an .iso, and swapped THAT out when I tried to install. Again, nothing happened.

3. I mounted the .iso onto an 8GB Cruzer and made a bootable flash drive. Upon trying the install again, I had the same problem.

4. I tried to bu... Read more

Answer:Load Driver: Required CD/DVD Drive Device Driver: HELP!

Try extracting the ISO to Vista desktop to run Setup from there.

You can locate the driver in Vista's Device Manager SATA controller Driver info tab.

The fact that it would duplicate the error for USB flash install sounds like a malfunction.

Try removing 2 gb of RAM.

Check BIOS version to see if you have the latest.

Checksum the HASH of the ISO you downloaded to confirm it here: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/0...vd-iso-images/

At Windows 10 startup this Warning appears in my Event Log as Event ID: 219.

The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device SWD\WPDBUSENUM\{a1c931b2-3b00-11e5-9c14-806e6f6e6963}#0000000008100000.

I know why this happens. The device in the message is an internal SATA AHCI hard drive. All AHCI drives, even internal ones, are considered removal or hot swapable. It even causes the safely remove icon to appear sort of like it was a USB drive. It happened on Windows 8.x. Don't remember if it happened on Windows 7. I can't make any changes in my BIOS to make it not hot swapable as there is no option for this drive.

The fix to get rid of the message in W8 was to modify the Service 'Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework' Changing the Startup type from Manual to Automatic fixed the problem. However, on Windows 10 this method does not work.

I can't disable the Service as it's needed for other devices. Just wondering if anyone found a nice clean way to get rid of the warning message like in W8?

Hi all,
I have a Dell Dimension C521 with a keyboard problem:
Keyboard works during boot and in BIOS
Keyboard DOES WORK in Windows XP safe mode
Keyboard DOES NOT WORK in Windows XP normal mode
This problem started the other day without warning.  Normally I would use System Restore to fix this but system restore was turned off.  I have checked the kbdclass filer in the Registry and that was ok.  Because it works in safe mode i know it's a driver issue, but I'm not sure what else to look at and I need major help here.

Answer:Dell Dimension C521 Keyboard dead After Windows starts

Assuming it's a USB keyboard:

Boot in Safe Mode
Manually set a system restore point to be safe
Open Device Manager and expand list under USB
Right-click each USB root hub and select Uninstall
Save the one connected to mouse for last
Force shut down
Reboot normally and XP should reinstall the USB ports automatically

See if that solves the problem...
I presume you know that Microsoft doesn't support XP and IE8 anymore so there are lots of security holes that were never patched. Your PC is at risk for malware infections if you go on line...

1. Restore points get corrupted and do not always work, so that is not a big issue.
2. sounds like you are using the wrong driver for your graphics card, this reverting seems to be kicking out the wrong driver.

You should try to remove the driver totally and then re-install based on the graphics card type. You may have to open up the computer and take a look inside to see the model number of your graphics card, or if it is built into the motherboard, look for the correct driver based on your board type.

I hope this helps.

Hi Can anyone help me, I have a foolishly inherited a DELL Dimension C521 desktop, into which I have attempted to install an ATI Radeon X1300 128MB Graphics card (low profile) which on the face of it work okay.

However when I run the DirectX dialoge (dxdiag) or any of the DELL diagnostic scans, it reports that there is no 3D graphics support. I have downloaded and installed the latest 9.2 drivers from ATI for vista, with no luck.

So when I try and play a DVD or some games it moans that theres no 3d Graphics card. Can anyone Help?
Needless to say DELL support is as much use as a chocolate T-Pot.

I get this message often and whenever I do, my Windows runs in slow motion The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device HID\VID_1B96&PID_0006&MI_01&Col02\8&1c39cefe&0&0001. What should I do?

Answer:The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load

you ever resolve this?

I've got a program that loads a driver on-the-fly.

Can I do this via a command?

Is this dynamic driver loading dependent on the driver type?

I've seen sc can install services and .inf stuff, I wondered if I can emulate this voodoo

I have a Dell Dimensions 8400 Desktop PC running Windows XP. I recently reinstalled the O/S again. Upon doing this I have had a really tough time with the Video Card driver. My Video Card is ATI Radeon X300. I have tried installing the driver for this from the Dell website and from ATI direct with no luck. Once I install the driver it seems like it installs correctly, but it really does not. It asks me to reboot and I do, but after I see windows load the screen just stays black. Then I boot into safe mode and I see in Device Manager that the X300 Driver is in correctly. I then have to uninstall the Driver just to get windows to boot up again. During the Install of the driver it does give me the warning that Windows XP does not recognize this driver (Or a very similar message). I have tried updating the driver through Microsoft Updates, but this has not worked. I have also received quite a few Blue Screen's, which I assume is the result on an incompatible driver. Could the actual Video Card be faulty. Thanks for any suggestions.
