Solved: Flash Player - iexplore - Application Error

Question: Solved: Flash Player - iexplore - Application Error

Have XP with all recent updates. When going to Adobe.com, I can't load Flash Player. I keep getting the following prompt - iexplore.exe - application error... This memory could not be written See attachment for screen shot of the application error message with additional coding information.
Here is what I have tried so far without success:
When prompt appears - tried clicking cancel to de-bug...Results in computer freeze. Usually have to reboot.
Removed all past flash players versions from hard drive.
Scanned for virus and spy-ware - None found.
Tried the Repair Registry Software that claims it will solve this problem. It didn't help.
Security set to medium / custom setting to enable active X settings
Tried loading older versions of Flash Player to no success. Get the same prompt.
I'm at a loss as to what needs to be done. Can anyone provide suggestions?

Thanks,

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Solved: Flash Player - iexplore - Application Error

When you say 'load', do you mean that you are attempting to install or upgrade the Flash plugin for IE? Assuming the Adobe site works for you, try this version tester to see what, if any, version you currently have; http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html (the latest is 10,0,32.18).

Newer versions of Flash should be uninstalled with the special Adobe uninstaller, if you didn't use it, try it now in case your problem has something to do with leftover components of old versions of Flash; http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html Note that if you have other browsers installed, the uninstaller will remove their Flash plugin as well and you will need to replace it.

If the uninstaller doesn't help, you could try following the advice in this Adobe Troubleshooter; http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html Hopefully, the Registry 'repair' tool you ran hasn't done any permanent damage. Those things rarely do any good!

After browsing the internet for alittle while internet explorer crashes and I'm taken back to my desktop with an iexplore.exe application error-The instruction at "0x7c9105f8" referenced memory at "0x02540010" ( note that this referenced number does change). memory could not be read. I've tried everything I could think of. Removed a bunch of programs to free up space, defrag the system, ran ad-aware, unchecked 3rd pary browser ext. as was recommended. Still no luck, what's going on. Still have plenty of memory , computer is running windows xp sp2.

I tried to open windows media player and it is giving me an error message "an internal application error as occured" it doesn't tell me how to fix it so I googled it to see if I could find some answers. The microsoft website only gives one solution for this problem and it does not fit my problem. I can also not find the media player icon in my add and remove program folder but when I right click on the desk top ICON I can find the target and it shows that it is still installed on my computer but for some reason I can't get to it.

I was going to try to do a system restore but that does not seem to be working either, the system restore screen opens but it is blank.

So I guess I have two issues, if I need to list the system restore issue in a different forum, let me know but if someone out there can help me with both issues, I would be grateful.

Thank you

We are using OS Windows XP
The version of media player on the computer is 10 to the best of my knowledge (I did try to re-download it and it seemed to download okay but I get the same error)

The memory in your PC might be faulty. That is, the physical hardware inside your computer called RAM. Errors like this often occur because of faulty memory. You can run a program called memtest to test if the memory is OK or not.As a work-around to the issue, you could just use a different Web browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. IE 8 is slower and less secure than these in most cases anyway. Some other ideas: Run Windows Update, and run chkdsk.See here:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265I hope at least one of these solutions helps you.JoshJCCR Computers Sheffieldhttp://www.jccrcomputers.co.uk

Answer:iexplore.exe - Application Error

First thing you should do is look over the First Steps at Removing Malware , this is the most common cause for unexpected crashes in IE that just start happening.

Also, Run the System File Checker

Go to the Run box on the Start Menu and type in:

sfc /scannow ( sfc if not reconized) (Note that there is a space between sfc and /scannow)

This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with which it finds a problem.

In all likelihood you will be prompted to insert the Windows XP CD.

Visit Windows Update Site, make sure you have the latest Windows components, IE components, drivers and other updates for your system.

Also, what version of IE are you using?

SYMPTOMS
When you log on to the local console of your Windows 2000-based computer, you may receive the following error message:
The instruction at '<address>' referenced memory at '<address>'.
The memory could not be read.
Click OK to terminate the program.
When you click OK, your computer restarts and subsequent logon attempts may be successful.

NOTE: This error message may also occur if you log on by using a Terminal Services client.

CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the operating system does not allocate a large enough buffer for the maximum string length permitted. When the data is greater than the buffer size, the Winlogon service terminates abnormally and your computer generates the error message.

Hi there.
When opening IE7 I get the "iexplore - Application Error"
"The exception Privileged instruction.
(0xc00000096) occurred in the application at location 0x593f8723.
Click Ok to terminate the program etc."
I get a similar message when opening Adobe Bridge and
My Computer. Sometimes My Computer searches for folders and files and doesn't open at all.
If the program opens I can ignore the Application Error and continue to work. However closing the warning window also terminates the program.
Any inital suggestions?
Thanks!

try this Start --> run --> Type in "msconfig" and press "Enter"
goto Startup tab
Disable all the applications there except anti-virus.Reboot the machine and check if the issue continues. If not, then enable one at a time in the same startup tab and find the application or process that might cause this

also do a sfc Check this for using sfc

Answer:Iexplore.exe Application Error

For some reason, and instruction (program) that was executed in Internet Explorer (at memory location 0x7c9118c5) tried to access your memory (at memory location @0x70752d78)in a way that could not be read. The problem is finding out what caused this error. If the @ symbol isn't a typo, then I'd suspect that there was a problem with the program (instruction) that was trying to use Internet Explorer in this way.In short, the most likely cause is malware (viruses or spyware), but there can be other causes associated with it. I'd first suggest trying these free, online scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been taken over by the bad guys:http://safety.live.comhttp://housecall.trendmicro.comIf Internet Explorer doesn't stay open long enough to finish the first scan, I'd download the free Firefox browser ( http://www.mozilla.com ) and run the second scan (the first one only works with Internet Explorer).

Hello,No signs of malware appear in your log. Please start a new topic about his issue in the Web Browsing/Email and Other Internet Applications forum. Since yesterday when I am on the internet I periodically receive this message

"iexplore.exe-Application Error"

then explanation is:

"The instruction at "0x05200ce2" referenced memory at "0x0e783000", the memory could not be "written" and it shuts down the internet completely." I am given the option to click "ok" to terminate program or click "cancel" to debug the program

When this started yesterday I had google.com set as my homepage, did some experimenting and noticed that if I set the home page to MSN it did not happen as often as it seems to on google. Initially I thought this was due to an update as per a google search and reset the tab options - which seemed to slow down the problem yesterday afternoon.

However having same problem again today.

Ran a Malware scan yesterday just in case and it found 23 bugs which were all removed. I downloaded this a month or so ago per instructions from bleepingcomputer along with the RKill. Had an infection last month. Maybe I didn't get rid of it all the way???

Joined the bleepingcomputer community this morning and have worked through all of the instructions of "to do's" before making this post. Sorry I have done several searches - could not find the same issue.

gmer did note a problem with: device\harddisk0\[email protected]

Please help.

Answer:iexplore.exe- Application Error

I get similar messages occassionally, when closing out of the Internet.

Supposedly they occur when a website tries to enter strings of text into the index.dat file on your computer but the file names it wants to store are too long. Then you get the error.

This is what I read on one of the Microsoft topics about the issue. They suggest clearing your cookies, cache, and internet history. Usually that should work.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/899811/en-us

For me, I have my history set to 0 days so it'll clear by itself the next day. If I do have the error occurring, it will 100% never happen the next day usually, so.

But I would try clearing the history and then give it a go.

Answer:Iexplore.exe - application error

First, verify the spelling:
iexplore.exe is the process for Internet Explorer

Second, verify the error message:
"0x001708f1"

I cannot identify the above number.

Third, find the Error in the Event Viewer that corresponds to the time you get this message:

B]Start> Run> type in eventvwr[/B]

Do this on each the System and the Applications logs:
1. Click to open the log>
2. Look for the Error>
3 .Right click on the Error> Properties>
4. Click on Copy button, top right, below the down arrow
5. Paste here (Ctrl V)

You can ignore tWarningd and Information events. If you have a recurring Error with same ID#, same Source and same Description, only one copy is needed. You don't need to include the lines of code in the box below the Description, if any.

Please do not copy the entire Event log.Click to expand...

Please include some information about your system: operating system, installed RAM

About half the time I close IE7, I get the following error message:

The instruction at "0x01c82bf2" referenced memory at "0x02436c58". The memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate the program.

The numbers and letters vary, and it doesn't happen every time, but often enough.

When I originally installed IE7, I did not get this error. It happened sometime within the last month, after patch Tuesday.

The only program I installed in the last 30 days or so was I-Tunes & Quicktime (latest versions).

Any thoughts to what might be causing this?

I have Windows XP Pro, SP2, fully patched.

Thanks.

After using IE6, once I close the browser, I get this error stating " The instruction at "0x62304390" referenced memory at "0x62304390". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program "

I searched around on google to see if this application was common and if there was a common way to solve this problem before I posted on here. I seen some posts on a site similar to this one stating that it is caused from either Yahoo or Google toolbars being installed. I recently had a yahoo toolbar mistakenly installed, but I uninstalled it. Now, since yesterday I've been encountering this Ie problem. Anyone know how to fix this?

If you are using a toolbar as Google or Yahoo, uninstall it and see if the problem goes away. If it does then you can try to reinstall or leave it off.

Hi all,

I am using XP Home Edition. Until yesterday everything was fine. I started to receive the following message everytime I close a web browser,

The instruction at "0c01dfedb0" referenced memory at 0x00000ba0". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program.

This is the exact message thrown up by IE. The same error from Netscape and Firefox (obviously just the names are different)

Steps already taken to resolve the issue;

I have used a restore point
I have uninstalled the browsers and reinstalled them
Scanned laptop for viruses and spyware - result clean
Ran Windows Repair

The symptom you describe could be malware related or they could be due to other reasons to include problems with "Add-ons" like the Google Toolbar. I have a HP computer with Windows XP. I want to update my video driver and went to hp.com for the upgrade; while trying to get to the point where I could download something, the iexplore.exe Application Error pops up and stops me from continuing. This happens at other times too. Each message is basically the same except the "numbers":

iexplore.exe Applicaition Error
0x08110068 at ref. mem. 0x08110068

I scanned my computer with Norton...found nothing; with Malware Bytes...1 infected item found and fixed; and with RegCure...many "things" were found and fixed. PROBLEM STILL OCCURS!! What can I do???

Getting this with IE7

Recently Norton asked to turn Windows Firewall off which I did. Before this, and since, have been getting Norton's "a recent attempt" was blocked. There are occurring frequently now, almost every time I close a page out with IE7 but not Firefox.

Nortons details shows the error occurs whenever " iexplore.exe is preparing to access the internet".

Scanned with Spyware Dr. and a trojan adware was removed categorized as a "medium" threat. Also found under my network places a www. chemblink.com that shouldn't have been there - a Chinese organization.

Which Norton and Spyware Dr did not detect. The attempts persist and are obviously triggered by my local machine.
What to do with this?

Hello,
My system keeps throwing this error on my screen at seemingly random intervals. It does not correlate to any program that I am running. In fact I have just let my system run idle after logging in and it just pops up. I have run RegCure, Spybot, and XoftSpySE, and Trend OfficeScan. They did clean out a lot of things but this still pops up. Internet Explorer seems to work fine.

Error:
iexplore.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click on OK to terminate the application.

I have attached the hijackthis.log file.

Any ideas?
