For the past couple of days or so, my mouse has been moving from top to bottom of the screen at random times. It also messes with my DPI settings and opens random windows. I have the feeling that its a virus of some sort, I've ran hijack this and have the log.

Preferred Solution: Erratic Mouse Movement

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

About a week ago, my mouse, at random times will go crazy and open random things. The pointer will jump jump from one end of the screen in fractions of a second, too fast to see. It will also open various windows. When I try to move it again it continues on with the erratic movements. I can not figure out what is triggering this, or if I have some kind of virus. Usually I hit escape a couple of times and it goes back to normal. Any ideas?

My mouse began moving very erratically recently. When the problem began, I supposed that it may have been a driver problem because I had just upgraded to WIN7 64-bit. However, the problem cropped up after about a week of flawless operation. I ran a thorough scan using Avast, but that didn't solve the issue, so I re-installed WIN7 from scratch. The mouse still moves erratically, but less so than before. Prior to the re-install, the mouse pointer moved very quickly, so quickly that I had a lot of difficulty even clicking on anything, but now it seems more docile, jumping only a few inches at a time every few seconds.

I appreciate whatever help you can provide.

P.S. I'm using a 64-bit OS (which I have the disc media for), so I didn't run GMER, only DDS.

My Razer mouse has started acting up on me and I cannot figure out what is causing it. Two previous mice have fallen into the same trap. It is a mystery. Cursor movement is jittery in spots, slightly difficult to follow in a straight line, and has a tendency to lean in a rightward direction.

The methods I've tried to resolve this issue:
1) thinking it was dust related, I've gently got after the lens with a can of compressed air
2) swapped USB ports
3) moved mouse to a laser mousepad
4) (Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Mouse>Pointer Options) changed Motion & enhanced pointer precision settings
5) reinstall system to factory condition

None of the above changed anything. Windows Update is fully updated and I do wonder if the problem is related, or if there is a conflict between drivers. When I enter safemode, the mouse movement is buttery smooth!

I am going to post some screenshots related to my mouse to see if anyone can detect anything ususual. Will post more screens if needed.

1) Troubleshooting hardware

2) HID mouse?

3) Razer mouse

4) Razer Synapse (additional mouse settings)

Answer:Help w/erratic mouse movement??

There is a possibility that the mouse is defective. To test this you try the mouse on another system at another location (different tabletop/mousepad).

There is a possibility that the Razor driver or your installation is bad. To test this completely uninstall the mouse, download a new driver file (check version info carefully), and then do a 2 part installation:
Plug the mouse in an let Windows install it's generic mouse driver. Use it like that for a while - do the problems persist? (If Windows automatically installs the old Razor driver then you did not "completely" uninstall it)
Then install the Razor driver. If the problems persist then try a different, older driver for that mouse.
Also: clean the mouse laser lens with a Q-tip dipped in warm water. Do not use detergent, window cleaners using ammonia, solvents like alcohol. Just warm, clean water. All of the above can leave a thin film or distort the lens.

EDIT: disabled touch pad. Problem solved.

Currently running Windows 10, been completely fine so far. I have the Acer Aspire V 15 Nitro.

Just today after browsing through some anime sites, my mouse started to behave strangely. Occasionally the cursor just jumps around randomly for about a half a second, usually localized to a general area where the cursor was before. This is not tied to typing or anything else as far as I can see (maybe loading?).

I don't recall downloading anything from the sites. I've confirmed that my mouse is not the issue (it happens when unplugged). I restored my PC to the restore point two days ago (my last windows update). Any help would be appreciated.

I just got the XPS 13 and tried using my Logitech Performance MX wireless mouse. It seems to work perfectly when the wireless receiver is plugged into the right USB slot on the laptop but it doesn't work very well on the left one with often erratic movements.
I also have a AUKEY USB C Hub which is plugged into the Thunderbolt port and the mouse doesn't seem to be detected at all when plugged in there. I have installed all the drivers though, can someone recommend another solution? Thank you!

Alright, I've been having a semi-intermittent problem with my mouse. My mouse seems to be moving randomly around the screen without the cursor actually moving. The best example of this would be while playing solitaire. When I load the game, some cards start to blink rapidly as if I had moved my mouse over them. I can still play the game simple enough, but the cards keep blinking.
I had originally though this was a problem with my solitaire program, but when I loaded up Mass Effect, my camera started to move erraticly while in game. It is fine when I'm in the menus, but when I'm trying to control my character, it moves to random angles. Oddly enough, holding down the left and right mouse button puts the game in free-look mode and I can move the camera around fine. As soon as I let go of the buttons, however, its buggy again.
I am running a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 that I've tried using both USB and PS2 connections. I am running Windows Vista 32-bit and am using the newest versions of my video card drivers and mouse drivers. I've looked around a few forums, but haven't found a problem exactally like mine. Any help would be appreciated.

I just barely reinstalled my Windows 7 computer, and have transferred my files back to my computer from an external hard drive. I decided to sort and delete unused files, when eventually my mouse movement started to move very erratic.

Moving to the left seems to cover less ground, while moving to the right seems to work normally. Up and down has the same effects as left movement, which is why moving to the right isn't always smooth or perfect.

I am using a wired Razer Deathadder mouse (left handed), and have the correct drivers installed. I have restarted the computer but I still have the same symptoms! This movement is very annoying, and I'd like to know what is causing it.

Please help!

I am having major problems with the mouse.

The cursor's movement is erratic when using the mouse and it is almost impossible to get it to move where it needs to go. It appears as if the mouse and cursor are fighting eash other. The cursor mainly wants to go on to the left ahnd side of the screen which makes it difficult to do almost anything .

I am running XP and have tried a number of different mice - including P/S 2 and USB. I have reformatted the hard drive - rather drastic I know but wasn't sure it was an XP problem. I have run virus scans with Kaspersky 7.0 - and found nothing.

This is making the computer almost unusable so I would welocme any suggestions.

Thanks in hope

Hi,

I recently made a thread in the "Am I infected? What do I do now?" forum and Broni told me to come here. Here is the link http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/495027/erratic-cpu-usage-spikes-during-mouse-movement-and-every-application/page-3

I was looking at process explorer while I was watching videos on youtube and the CPU usage will bounce around between 60-100. If i click on a different tab without any streaming videos or anyting, CPU will bounc around 30-60%. When I'm idle, CPU will erratically bounce around between 2-14% and will periodically be punctuated by instances where CPU usage shoots up to 50+%. Moving my mouse with just Chrome and Process Explorer open will make the CPU jump to ~30%. Despite all this, the things Broni helped me with have really improved my computer. Booting up the computer is acceptable now and i can actually type in gchat without waiting for my computer to catch up with my fingers. However, it still feels like something is off as my computer can't watch videos without frequent stuttering and these jumps in cpu usage just seem outrageous.

Here is what I've tried on my own prior to coming here:

1) Updated all recommended drivers from dell support website
2) Windows Error-check on my C hard drive
3) Windows Disk-Cleanup
4) ran AVG, Malwarebytes, Spybot Search and Destroy to look for bugs. AVG came up negative with the viruses, Malwarebytes found no threats, Spybot found like 200 things ... Read more

Hi everyone!

I'm not computer savvy so please be patient with me.

As the topic name implies, my Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop has extremely erratic cpu usage with basically everything. When idle, it sits at around 8% or so, but if i move my mouse cursor, it will jump up to maybe 30-50% (I've seen it go higher with just mouse movement). When opening applications such as Google Chrome, Malwarebytes, etc it sometimes goes up to 100%. Because of this, my computer is unbearably slow.

OS: Vista

Here's what I tried:

1) Updated all recommended drivers from dell support website

2) Windows Error-check on my C hard drive

3) Windows Disk-Cleanup

4) ran AVG, Malwarebytes, Spybot Search and Destroy to look for bugs. AVG came up negative with the viruses, Malwarebytes found no threats, Spybot found like 200 things and I told it to remove them.

5) ran CCleaner to clear registry and temp files.

6) defrag

After all of this, my CPU usage is still erratic. I'm not sure what else to try.

I've had this computer for a long time and this has been a problem for this computer for years. It's what prompted me to buy a new laptop, but i still want to use this one for school as it's pretty compact. Help me save my computer!!

Any help is greatly appreciated. :D

I currently have a dual boot setup with Windows 7 Pro 64 and XUbuntu 64 bit XFCE desktop. On random occasions, the mouse pointer will begin to float and or will not stay positioned on the spot selected.  This occurs with or without an external mouse attached.  The track pointer will not control the mouse and neither the left nor right keys just below the keyboard function.  The drifting will stop sometimes when the center key at the bottom of the keyboard is pressed. The touchpad and its keys seem to work correctly.  I have turned off both of these in the BIOS and have not had any problems.  It seems to me that the problem may be with the keyboard. Any body have any experience with this sort of problem?

I have turned down the sensitivity of the touch pad just in case her fingers accidentally hits the touch pad and she has been careful not to touch the pad but still the cursor jumps around.

On my wife's Sony laptop, while she types into Outlook the cursor sometimes suddenly jumps to another location in the email. I'm assuming its a software issue. Any suggestions?

Answer:Erratic cursor movement

It could also be a light issue. What type of mouse is your wife using? If it is an Optical mouse (red light at bottom), then check to see if there is a table lamp near the mouse.Sometimes the light fall on the mouse in just a certain angle, and it triggers the mouse tracking. Then you get the cursor jumping around effect. If you do not use a mouse with the laptop, then some of your keys might get stuck.(Probably Tab and/or Shift.)Press those keys a couple of times (separately and simultaneously) and see if the jumping stops. If this doesn't help, it may very well be a software issue. In that case, I suggest that a computer technician take a look.

Hi, I have a brand new Dell mouse, WM326, and right out of the box it has extremely erratic movement on the screen.  The cursor moves perfectly with the touchpad and the USB ports all work fine with other devices. I've tried all the ports, changing the battery, and restarting the computer with no success. I've also plugged the mouse into a desktop computer and it is still erratic. My laptop is an Inspiron 15 3000 Series, if that matters. Since I cant find any information on this product online, what steps should I take to either resolve this or get a replacement that will work?

So i have a Sony Vaio laptop, windows 7 that has been ok-ish for 2+ years.

the when i was watching a movie the cursor started to very slightly move just so the play-stop buttons came up. then after about 20 minutes the movement became more and more erratic and clicking on almost everything.

the touch-pad became unresponsive but at first was moving in the opposite way to my finger movements and then completely unresponsive. (normal mouse still works but is barley usable)
I've updated drivers, but cant turn off the track pad as there is no driver for it that i can find, and i have uninstalled Vaio care.

Any solution or ideas because im stumped?

For the longest time I thought the erratic clicking on my W530 was because of my peeled trackpad sticker, but I only figured out today that it was occurring because I had enabled Press to Click on my trackpoint. It causes unwarranted, extremely rapid clicking, almost competing with autoclicking scripts, and renders the trackpoint immobile while the clicking occurs. This is on a keyboard given to me very recently (~2 months ago) as a replacement on request by IBM ESC.I use the trackpoint extremely frequently; almost all of the mouse movement I require is performed on it in comparison to the trackpad, so perhaps there had been some wear on it after all that time.

Troubleshooting a fairly new HP laptop. Had been infected with a virus. Cleaned it all up but was experiencing erratic mouse behavior. The customer claimed the behavior started when he got hit with infection. While the pointer itself moves fine the left and right mouse buttons intermittently act like they are being held down causing the pointer to drag and highlight everything in site. At other times the buttons do nothing at all. At other times the left mouse button triggers a rightclick menu. And at other moments all mouse control is fine. This occurs equally on the touchpad or when using an external USB mouse. I tried disabling the touchpad completely but the problem still occurs when using the external mouse. I tried updating the sypatics touchpad driver but that made no difference either. I finally resorted to wiping and completely reinstalling windows but the problem still persists. For the hell of it I then updated the BIOS firmware but that made no difference either. All keyboard function work fine so I have been having to resort to using the arrow keys and alt tab and such to navigate around. I ran a Passmark Burn in Test and everything passed.

A couple of additional points. I ran the Hirens Boot CD which is similar to the Ultimate Boot CD. I then booted into the Mini Windows XP and the same erratic mouse behavior occured so this is clearly not an operating system issue. Also when I wiped and reloaded Windows I used the HP Recovery partition and ran thei... Read more

Answer:No mouse movement

I would try unplugging the mouse cord from the back of the PC. Replace it and be sure that it is seated well. If it is a USB device you should hear a "ding" sound when the devices is unplugged and plugged back in. If this does not resolve the issue try rebooting the PC. If you still do not have a mouse function I would then try and alternate mouse if possible. That way you can pinpoint if it is the mouse that has the issue or not.

Question: Mouse movement

Ok i have a blue logitech optical mouse on a fUnc surface, everytime i take a swipe across the pad it gets stuck. For instance in Counter-Strike when i swipe left to right or right to left , the cursor gets stuck in the middle but i'll still be moving the mouse. I've tried using the usb but same thing, then i tried the crappy mouseware drivers still same thing. Then i changed the mouse with my bro-in-law's optical still the same crap. Then i reformatted the HD reinstalled XP the installed CS and baam same thing, this is driving me nutz. I'm thinkin the usb and ps/2 ports are either bad or just that im cursed with bad mice.

Every single day, when we first turn on my wife's machine, she has no mouse movement. The buttons still work, but the light on the bottom is not on, and there is no movement. Unplugging it and replugging it doesn't help, and rebooting doesn't help. Sometimes navigating by keyboard to the device properties and disabling/re-enabling will get it back working, and sometimes uninstalling the Logitech software then re-installing it also works. Every re-boot for the rest of the day works fine. It's only when the computer has been off overnight that this happens.

If I take the mouse over to my machine it works fine, so I don't think it's the mouse. I've re-installed the latest logitech mouseware many times also.

i had a problem, my mouse vertical movement sometimes stopped, could only be moved horizontally and only 1 way in vertical movement. sometimes it could only be moved up, sometimes could only be moved down, but horizontal movement was intact.

i thought it was the mouse, since i dropped it alot, or the receiver, since it was wireless. then i bought a razer lachesis. the problem still happened
i installed the latest firmware and driver, and updated all windows updates. still the same, but it got better when i turned the dpi to 4000 dpi (the highest the lachesis can support), sometimes the problem occured, but very rare.
the strange case was the mouse unbelievably fine when playing games (first person shooter etc), only on windows. so i thought it's the OS.

then a week ago i bought a new PC, now i have i5 + 8GB RAM, plus a professional version of 64bit win7.

for a week, i thought the problem was gone
but then, today i worked with extra multitasking and pushed my PC to its limit. the CPU usage and RAM usage was near 100%.
the problem came back sometimes it can't be scrolled vertically again.

then i remember with my core2duo, everything is almost 100% usage. so i think the vertical mouse movement problem has something to do with CPU usage.

please help. i multitask alot.

Ronald a little more information would help us answer your question. Laptop vs desktop? USB mouse, wireless mouse, bluetooth mouse? I know my entire system (all three I have updated) was jerky for about an hour until drivers were updated.

I have a Logitech USB optical cordless mouse. Never had a problem with it. I got myself a new capture device, a Video Grabber with ShowBiz 2 software. When I run the program, it changes my 800 x 600 screen to 1024 x 768 and the mouse slows down dramatically. There is a distinct "delayed" reaction of several seconds and it is difficult to aim the damned thing. I tried to capture with another program called VirtualDub. When I switch to the "capture mode" and the preview screen comes on, the mouse reaction is also slow, though better than the much bigger ShowBiz.Is there some reason the mouse reaction slows so much with the video capture. I'm sure it must use a lot of resources. Go to Control Panel - Mouse.

When the mouse properties window appears, there should be settings that you can change to your personal preference.

I have Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004

I am getting a delayed response when I use my mouse where I will have to click a box or radio button 3 or more times before it takes me to my selection. I recently received a pop up window on my computer a couple weeks ago that said I need to run Norton Anti Virus but I did not click OK. I have McAfee anti virus and knew that was not something to run. I couldn't close window and did not want to click OK so I did a soft boot and restarted my computer. This morning I ran Ad Aware and it did find several things that needed to be deleted and I did notice something that said Semantics. Not sure if this has anything to do with why my mouse is running slow but that is the only problem I have with my computer. Let me know what I need to do.

Thanks.

Answer:delayed mouse movement

Is your mouse wireless? If it is, maybe it needs a new battery, or perhaps you need to move the wireless thing closer to your mouse. This happens to me a lot, and is usually just too far away from the wireless signal thingy that is plugged into a USB port in the back of my computer.

If your mouse is not wireless, than I don't know what to say!

Hi all,

I hope I've posted this in the right section.

I built my PC 3ish years ago and have just moved house. I took the opportunity to clear out the dust from inside and outside the case before I set my PC up in my new place. After I was done, the PC gets woken up after I have shut it down by the mouse or the keyboard. Anyone have any suggestions?

I have done the following:

-Checked all the power management settings in Windows, couldn't figure it out, so:
-Reinstalled Windows (Was on my list of things to do anyway)
-Checked the BIOS for the settings that relate to "wake on USB" - all are disabled
-Taken the CMOS battery out to reset

I just can't think what it might be.

CPU: Intel Quad Core QX6700

Hi I'm getting a seriously strange mouse issue.

Everytime I move my mouse at a highspeed it stalls or glitches. That is if I try to do a 180 turn in game with a whip motion I get a stall, or if I scroll from the top right X button in FireFox to the Start menu too fast I also get a stall. Wiggle the mouse, stall, do anything other than smooth very slow and linear movements and I get a stall.

This problem happens with all of the mice I own; 2 different types of Logitech mice, and a pos Creative. The Logitech Optical Mouse I own is totally brand new out of the box and still gets this issue.

I've tried installing individual MouseWare drivers for each of the Logitech mice and the problem still has not been solved.

I've tried putting all the mice in all the various ports they support, usb, and p2 whatever im computer ignorant...

I'm working with a fresh install of windows from this morning.

I actually reformat due to previous mouse issues, which seem to be gone now... only to be replaced with this one. I'm not sure what exactly caused my mouse issues pre-format, but my mouse basically accelerated at a level much higher than what it was set at. I deleted all of the mouse drivers on my computer a few times with various 3rd party apps and still had the issue.
I think this problem started occuring after uninstalling the CS mouse accelfix and some crappy Razor drivers.

The huge acceleration problem is gone now but I'm getting these horrible stalls.

One of the tasks a fellow employee at work has to do is circle of a bunch of signature lines in a PDF document. The PDF document areas to circle are always the same and so there should be some program to automate this.

Basically the PDF is 20 pages and on about 10 of the pages there are areas for the customer to sign. They are different spots on these 10 pages (but consistent between customers). The task is basically going though with Adobe and using the red circle tool and drawing a circle around where the customer should sign on these 10 pages, then saves the PDF for the sales person to give to the customer.

I'm thinking that as long as the 20 pages are the same for customer A as they are for customer B (atleast on where to sign) and you setup Adobe Acrobat (or any particular reader/writer) for like 100% view and full screen that there should be a program out there that you can program to essentially macro this task out by doing it once and then it saves the mouse and click movements as well as keyboard strokes (page down).

Any ideas of such a program? Or any other method that you may find more efficient? Is AutoHotKey the best solution for something like this?

All I know is that spending 5 minutes going through 20 pages to circle 10 different spots many times a day is a waste of this guy's time.

Answer:Program for Mouse/Click Movement

This may sound silly, but if the PDF document areas are always the same why not modify the PDF to have the circles in the first place and just print the PDF when needed?

Hello folks, and thanks in advance for any answers given. I really wish I had more information on system specs, but here's the situation. I recieved a 'spare part special' from my buddy, got the OS up and running without a mouse the first time, win 98 by the by, got a few more parts i needed, installed em without a hitch, connected a mouse, fired it up, and moved the mouse. thats when the beeping started, its the same beep that you get when you push too many keys on the keyboard. happens randomly sometimes, other times i get a rapid fire of beeps that bog the system down, and aside from bogging it down, it's annoying as heck. I figured that it might have been because i'm using an optical mouse, and its an older system, but i tried a ball mouse, didnt stop it, installed the software for the optical, didnt stop it. checked for software conflicts, none. and stumped I am.

so basically, i'm looking for a starting point. buddy said that it might be the bios, but i have no clue how to even access that let alone begin to fix it should that be the problem. other than that, I have no clue, this is my first major problem that im having troubble finding help on. Anyways, i'll shut up now and see what you folks have to say.

Hello!

I purchased a Logitech G300 awhile back and recently I've been having a strange issue. Sometimes my mouse cursor will stop moving, though everything is fine, and will complete all of the mouse movements I performed while it was frozen about 10-15 seconds after it unfreezes. After that the cursor will be very "laggy" until I restart or replug my device. Even after I've done that there is still some mouse delay that wasn't there previously. I was using 1250dpi at 500hz polling rate and now to achieve a similar movement speed I need 2000dpi with 500hz polling rate. On a fresh boot the issue is never present, but will come back soon after. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Answer:BSOD after frantic mouse movement

Turn on Driver Verifier as instructed here. Then provide us crashdumps from any new crashes experienced when DV is active.

As for initial glance, I think an old (2008) LogMeIn/RemoteAnywhere driver is causing problems, since it's supposed to feed mouse position to the remote client and by using an old filter driver to do so it may be doing a bad job. Update LogMeIn or any remote desktop application.

Hey guys. I'm honestly getting so annoyed with this.

I have a laptop that I got about 1.5 years ago (HP), and recently every single mouse that I plug into the laptop seems to lag.

By lag I mean when you drag it across the screen it will stop and stutter in places. My laptop's own track-pad (if that's what it's called) works perfectly fine, no issues.

The only issue is the mouse that is plugged in via usb port or whatever.

I read something about FMAPP.exe or something related to RealTek but I do not have that file nor did updating drivers work.

It seems as if the mouse works perfectly fine for a couple weeks, then all of a sudden it acts up again and begins lagging. Then after a while it stops again. (& no I have not downloaded anything recently or removed software etc, it just comes and goes)

Side-note: If anyone plays CS:GO they will understand how impossible it is to play with this type of lag hence why I have come for help.

Answer:Mouse Movement Lag - Windows 10 & Laptop

Welcome to the TenForums @Nibble

I built his yesterday after I saw two posts, one being yours, that noted mouse issues. Some may or may not be applicable to you depending on mouse used. Hopefully others will add their ideas.

There are so many articles on mouse lagging and stuttering and while some had a definite impact others seems to be contradict one another. I listed what I found here. If you find something that works please post back so the next person benefits.

1) If your computer has Realtek audio check to see if you are running FMAPP.exe. If so disable. (saw you didn’t have.)

2) Try to identify the process running your mouse in the task manager, right click, properties, Compatibility Tab, Compatibility Mode, run as Windows 7.

3) Shut off your AV and test.

4) Review your mouse and every USB hub and disable the computer’s ability to shut off to save power, this is done in Power Management tab for each device driver.

5) Disable Cortana, there is a tutorial with the TenForums on this. You can leave search enabled, just kill Cortana.

6) Update Video driver.

7) Update all mouse drivers, vendors and others listed in Device manager. My Logitech shows but then there is a generic HID mouse.

8) Under mouse Properties, accessed through old control panel, on Pointer options tab, disable Enhance pointer precision. ( This one someone said turning it on solved problem)

9) Move Unifying key to Front of case ra... Read more

As a fellow gamer, this is extremely demeaning.
There is no chance of any type of game when stuff like this happens.

Excuse my use of profound language.
I am very annoyed at this mouse, and how it's trying to destroy my system.

I just found this out... It's both freaky and ******* ******.

I could be watching a video, it's all fine and running smooth, but the instant my mouse moves, the movie goes choppy as **** and the browser crashes (the crash is rare tho).

Now this means that games that require the mouse are complete fail, 'cause if I move the mouse a milimeter, the framerate will drop from 40 to below 5, but when the mouse is still, jumps back up to 40.

My mouse is a SideWinder X5.

Answer:Mouse movement seizes up the computer

silly question but can you try plugging in a standard ball or optical mouse to confirm that is IS the gaming mouse in question generating the drop is FPS.

I appreciate how frustrating it must be but can we assume that it might not be the mouse and we can determine this using a standard one for a couple of minutes. maybe you have a dad, brother, sister, or mom you can rob one off for a few mins ;)

let me know is the problem duplicated or not on the standard mouse and in the meantime i'll look at what else is out there on this issue.

Abit motherboard
756 megs ram
Gigabyte GeForce 6800GT
Soundblaster Live! 24 bit sound card
Windows XP
Power Supply: Allied 450W

Mind you when i first installed this video card I was averaging 99fps on Cs:S... now when i stress test it i average 65fps if my computer has been off for awhile... and below 45 when its on for awhile and each test its lower. This change in fps all seemed to occur in a short amount of time, maybe a day or two.In game play i now average 15 fps during gunfights and even lower with smoke. In battlefield 2 i have every setting on low and or off and I can say without doubt that i have seen a fx5200 run the game smoother on higher settings. It seems that whenever the game gets intense (gunfights or fast mouse movement) there is a severe graphic lag i.e low fps. I thought my 6800gt was bad so i had it sent in to gigabyte, they replaced it and it runs the same as described above. Any help is much appreciated and mind you my drivers are the current nvidia drivers and i do not mess with my bios settings or system configs.

check the connections in your comp, as in the graphic card, i have heard a similar problem and he did have the power connection to his card plugged in, so double check everything to see if its all there.

Hello, My company has a number of HP Elitebook 840 G1's and G2's deployed. We're suddenly running into issues with some users having their mouse seem to suddenly be possessed, randomly clicking and moving all over until the trackpad is disabled. I've done all sorts of troubleshooting trying to narrow down the problem. I have... - Swapped out the chassis of the laptop (put the hard drive in a different laptop of the same model). It will come back up again. This has happened with multiple users after swapping so the likelyhood of this being a coincidence and being hardware on all those machines is low. - Updated ALL drivers and the bios on machines, still comes up. Rolled back specific drivers, still happens. Seemingly ruled out HP software and hardware issues. - Checked event viewer at the times of this happening across machines, no errors or warnings popping up. - Adjusted settings on the trackpads. This is not an issue of users bumping the trackpad or something of the sort. - No viruses/malware causing this. When the issue happens, the user can double tap the trackpad to disable it, and the issue stops. Enabling the trackpad makes it start again. Users can use a wireless mouse when trackpad is disabled without issue. This specific point makes it seem like a hardware problem, but as I said we've swapped out computers to known working machines and had the issue come back up. Sometimes for others this fixes the problem. I did some searchi... Read more

As of late, I've been experiencing some very odd slowdowns at completely random times. Normally its a complete system slow down, my mouse only moves in slow, jumpy, delayed movements, animated GIF images (if on screen) will slow down or stop...etc etc.

The other thing, which I feel is connected to this...is if I have music playing via iTunes, through the internet, etc, if I do something like open a program or click a website link (any change in web page, normally only while loading) the song will break up, mouse goes jumpy for a moment...etc, only until it stops loading.

It seems like its some cache thats filling up too fast and just stopping data...but I've had much slower computers not even come close to doing odd things like this...but then again, I've no other computers that run vista. I find it odd to have this occur since it has plenty of memory, plenty of hard drive space, video is integrated, but 256 variable is allowed to share...I frequently defragment (both Diskeeper & Auslogics DD), I run AdAware & SB S&D, and AVG 8 on a daily scan, so I'm almost positive I've no adware, malware, trojans, etc..

Specs I can throw out are..

Toshiba Satellite A135-S4407
Intel Core Duo T2250, 1.73GHz, 2MB L2
2GB DDR2-533 (PC2-4200)
100GB 5400 Hitachi SATA HD

Thanks for any help that might be available.

I like to record a radio stream overnight of a fav. talk show, but the player that they use senses inactivity after a certain period of time & disconnects the stream.

I was thinking I might be able to use some type of a mouse movement program that would simulate movement, or even web surfing.

Anyone know of a freebie pgm. that would work for this use?

Thanks!

Answer:Auto mouse movement program?

You could record a mouse macro and just have it playing on a loop.

My games played fine before, but then a piece broke off of my mouse, so I bought another one. It is a basic Microsoft optical mouse. Now, when I play games, the game slows down big time. The games work fine when I move around the levels with the keyboard, but when I move the mouse to aim at things, it slows down. Can anyone give me some ideas as to how to fix the problem??

Answer:Mouse Movement Slows up my games

Switching to an optical mouse shouldn't matter at all. Unless you loaded a bunch of additional software with it, there should be no decrease in performance. To better answer this though, we would need more info on your system.

Hey guys!

I've noticed that my mouse has been acting strangely in the past few days which means that when I turn on my computer and when I'm working with it the mouse pointer moves by itself. I'm not touching the mouse or anything but it is still moving around the screen randomly and clicking stuff. At first I thought this has something to do with the internet but I've noticed this has happened when the computer was connected or disconnected to the internet. It is really annoying cuz when I'm watching a movie or something every random mouse movement and click stops or starts my movie.

Is it a virus or just bad device driver?

My computer is Lenovo X220 Tablet with Intel Core i7, Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I'm also using Avast antivirus.

Thanks in advance.

I have noticed that when I move the mouse with left button pressed over a window, that window receives Ctrl-C key event. This is very annoying especially when it breaks the hours long build of a project in virtual linux guest

Any ideas how I can disable this?

Answer:Mouse movement sending Ctrl-C

Hi ardusan

You can switch buttons - Control Panel > Mouse > Buttons, but unless you have specific software (eg) Razer interface, I would suggest just don't move the mouse with left button pressed over a window.

PS - good idea to fill in your system spec

Hi guys,

Not sure if this is the right place for this question but i'm having issues with my mouse. I'm pretty much computer illiterate so i have no idea what i'm doing. I noticed this problem yesterday so it's something that has just happened and i'm not sure if it started after a recent update or not. Whenever i move my mouse everything lags. This is most noticeable if i'm watching a video or listening to music. Both the pic and the sound start to lag. I unplugged my usb mouse and after doing this everything works fine for a while but then it starts lagging again at some point. However, while my usb mouse works fine for a while the laptop mouse doesn't. If i use that mouse everything crackles and slows down. When i open control panel and move the mouse back and forth the "service interrupts" number goes up as well as the "Service host: local system" and the "Intel(R) technology access" and cpu usage goes from between 20-30% to over 70%.

Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Pete

Hi, for nearly 3 months i've had this strange mouse issue that just came out of nowhere. i used to have a cupboard-like desk and i moved the mouse on a pull-out piece of wood, which worked like a charm for a good 3 years.
However after using it on raw wood for so long it started to get moldy and then became unusable. Eventually i used a mousepad that was sitting in a drawer and it made no difference, i swapped the mouse twice and the desk twice.
I brought brand new mousepads and mouses and it wasn't fixed, i recently wiped the computers data in hopes there was a bug or an issue in the registry but to no avail.

The problem i have is hard to put into a small statement, i play minecraft, draw in painting programs as well as moving around folders and files, this issue makes these things that i love doing aggrivating.
I don't know if i should call it jumpy, glitchy, sticky, jittery or what, its along those lines but its so subtle that they don't seem like accurate terms.
In short my mouse movement feels laggy but not to a strong degree that anyone watching would notice, but as an artist or gamer, you can feel the difference, experiencing this slight inaccurate, randomly slight second jittery movement for over 2 months has made me clinical depressed because none of my efforts seem to have made a difference. Its a HP wired mouse and the mousepad is one with those wrist bumps.

Thank you in advance.

Hi there,

additional to other minor issues I do have a problem with weird mouse movements, which renders typing + doing anything on my Windows 7 Pro (x64) setup useless!

Since today, the mouse focus changes randomly to somewhere else, which is especially annyoing, when I'm typing a password, which I then have to (try to) retype! Even worse if these "windows" are AJAX or the like, so they're gone after a focus change!! This is obviously also a problem when gaming or writing important stuff to people, in general I lose a lot of time.

I did check if it could be the fault of: Google Chrome or my bluetooth mouse, yet the problem continues when using only the laptop touchpad and also happens in other applications than the browser, so it is a Windows problem! Should I try to repair?

The only thing that might be causing it, is the touchpad, which I don't touch I think/hope, yet of which the application doesn't seem to run and show up in the mouse settings anymore. I don't know where it went (and why), yet the touchpad does still work, only the application (I'll look up the issuer asap) has vanished.

Do you have any ideas of how to solve it? Thanks for your help in advance!

Kind regards.

Answer:Severe mouse movement problem! :(

How about control panel

If that does not work try another mouse, it may be defective.

I've had my HP Envy for 10 months with no issues, but yesterday my touchpad started moving around randomly and I don't know why.The mouse seems to rarely go wrong UNTIL I right-click a few times (about 7), at this point it starts misbehaving. It tends to start by just jumping a few centimeters many times, then it starts to jump about 10+ centimetres at a time a few times, though if I leave it alone for a while after right clicking too many times it settles down. If I try to move the mouse while it is doing this, it will tend to slide back to where it started. Sometimes it begins doing this with no prompting. The longer it stays on, the worse these seem to get (sometimes it jumps around and clicks completely random things, usually it clicks on empty areas of the screen, it doesn't seem to be trying to accomplish anything except being unbelievably annoying) I didn't update my driver before this started happening and searched for multiple hours for a solution on various forums, to no avail. I've tried rolling back my driver, I've tried scanning my computer with Malwarebytes then disabling remote access (which was, for some reason, enabled, though clearly was not the problem). I've tried restarting the computer, updating the driver (no updates were available), clicking "Reset Devices" in the Synaptics settings menu (this seems to fix any fit the mouse is currently having in about 5 seconds, though it doesn't stop it forever), tinkering with Clickpad settings (as suggested by... Today I started my PC, and everything was fine until I tried to move my mouse pointer. I don't know what's wrong because everything else from the mouse works perfectly fine, right/left click, in browser back/next (I'm using a r.a.t. 5 mouse). I tried reinstalling its software, and also tried different mice. Still only clicks are recognized, no movement.
Couldn't find the same problem anywhere, so I'm asking you guys.
Any help much appreciated.

Thank you in advance!
Luke

Answer:Mouse is recognized, but no pointer movement

Aulkehtg,
If this is a new mouse it could be broken.
Try to opening the mouse program and see if you can make adjust the mouse movement from there. You may have to look at you mouse manual if you have one to maketthese adjustments. Some times the manual is on a PDF file.

yes, i AM a newbie, see my introduction here

ok,down to business. on the subject of my optical mouse, it hasnt been having many problems lately, but it's movement is still jumpy since i've been using a notebook for a mousepad. the jumpyness irritates me to no end, and it also affects anything i'm trying to work with, especially while playing online games

before using the notebook, i'd move my mouse in any direction, and after about a minute, for no reason, the cursor would jump to the bottom right, or upper left. while playing any games, this would change my movement, and in TFC (Team Fortress Classic -first person shooter) this would result in my character spinning, uncontrolably, in circles for about 30 seconds with nothing i could do to stop the cursor's movement.

basically, after moving my mouse for X minutes time it would move, for no explainable reason, to a corner and freeze there for
Y seconds time.

If it makes any difference, it is a Microsoft Wireless Optical.
HARDWARE - Microsoft USB Wireless Optical Mouse

i have reinstalled the drivers multiple times, but this does not seem to help.

Answer:optical mouse having movement issues

What operating system are you using?

Did the mouse do this before you installed the drivers?

Optical mice are very picky about the surface you use them on, mayeb you should get a mouse pad designed for optical mice?

I got a new Twist a couple of days ago and am loving it so far, but I have found an odd problem that I was wondering if anyone else has seen. When in tablet mode, the mouse pointer will come up and start moving around the screen. I think it may be one of two things. 1. The ghost of my former laptop is haunting the Twist or 2. The keyboard/mouse is not disabled in tablet mode and the back of my screen is causing the movement when I am using it in tablet mode. Is there a setting to disable the keyboard/mouse intablet mode or am I the only one having this problem. Thanks for any advice you can give.

Hi Folks, I have an HP media center PC, running XP, that is was purchased in early 2006. It has an Nvidia GeForce 6200SE turbo cache video card with the latest driver installed. Lately it has been freezing sometimes when the cursor moves over various things. I generally hear a low level whine coming from the computer when this happens. Once in a while, the screen just goes black for a few seconds, and then comes back on, but usually it just freezes solid. I have to turn off the computer to get it to work again, and it usually freezes during the first power up. The second attempt usually gets it back, but it isn't long before it freezes again. It's maddening! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remedy this. Thanks in advance.

Answer:Mouse movement causing computer freeze.

Have you installed a new program or added a new device or made other significant changes?

Try using a different mouse? What happens when a USB mouse is used? If already using a USB port, then try another port.

Troubleshoot it under device manager.

Dear Forum,My ideapad S415 came with a clickpad, which looks really cool but I'm finding out is hard to use because even the button areas of the pad works like a mouse, meaning that 1) I have to constantly get the mouse to readjust to my having two fingers doing different things if I want to stabilize one finger on the click button, or2) I have to only touch those areas if I want to click, but usually if I do this, my hand reaching for the button causes the mouse to jump to where I don't want it to be.I've searched everywhere, including the control panel, for ways to disable mouse movement in the button areas but to no avail. Does anyone know any workarounds? Many thanks,James

Hello, I have been getting this weird mouse activity starting about 1 day ago, where no matter where my mouse is at randomly it will jump to the same location on monitor 1, the position of the mouse after the jump is about 3/4 of the screen to the left and 3/4 up the monitor. I am using a dual montior setup and have been for many years. there is no new hardware of software installed on my pc.
Things I have done.
-Tried a new mouse
-Tried a new mouse pad
-Ran virus scans in both safemode and normal
-There are no drivers that I use except for the normal window drivers.
I am pretty tech savy, as I built this pc and have been using it for the past 3 years with no issues. So far I dont know how to recreate the issue, it just seems to be random.

First off, I am no computer newbie, so I thought I had a clean computer without any outstanding spyware or viruses. I have run into a quite aggravating problem and have absolutely no clue what is causing it. I am quite unsure whether it is spyware or a hacker or some kind of mouse malfunction or what else.

Basically what happens is this: at any given random time, my pointer will move to the very top right corner of the screen and do a bunch of super-fast right-clicks and left-clicks, so that it closes out of any maximized windows and clicks any other buttons that happen to be lingering up there. This happens whether I am surfing the web, editing something in photoshop, in the middle of a computer game (really messes with your aiming ) or in any other given circumstance. I use windows XP, with Firefox browser, and am big on the p2p client, Limewire. I have run multiple spyware-removal programs and virus scans (Ad-aware, Spybot, Bazooka Scanner, Symantec Anti-Virus, Spysweeper) and have found nothing that points to such a problem. The only trace of spyware i have found is with the Bazooka scanner (Coolwebsearch toolbar), and i beleive even that one finding is inaccurate, for i have followed the instructions for removal exactly several times, I downloaded the coolwebsearch toolbar removal and ran that, and searched the registry manually for any conspicuous entries and deleted them. I have run Hijack this and removed any suspicious entries, only leaving about 4 or 5 of wh... Read more
