issues with typing characters in MS Powerpoint 2003

Question: issues with typing characters in MS Powerpoint 2003

When I create a basic table in Ms Powerpoint 2003 with 2 colums/2 rows, some letters are sometimes spaced properly and sometimes not:

For ie, the word "Settlement" in the attached powerpoint document -> The 1st time Settlement is typed, there is no issue
at all. But the 2nd time it is typed, the letter <t> and the letter <l> are squizzed together. Then the 3rd time it is typed, it is fine. Same issue occurs with other words (for ie the word <test> may be fine the 1st time it is typed, then you type it a 2nd time, you get that issue of the letters <s> and <t> squizzed together.

See the attachments (they are the screenshots of the issue)

Troubleshoot:

(x)Changed her MS Windows profile = same issue

(x)Re-installed MS Office 2003 = same issue

(x)Tried in MS WOrd or Excel = it is fine in Word + Excel. So problem is with power point

OS= Windows XP

MS Office 2003

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I did create a very simple basic table in Ms Word 2003 with 2 colums/2 rows like
(Insert Table of 4 columns, 2 rows)
Pref. Settlement Method Test1 Test2 Test3
Face Value of Settlement 50 60 70

Then imported that table in Power Point.
Problem: In power Point (version 2003 as well), the characters are not spaced out properly as in MS Word. For example, the s and the t of Test1 have are so close to each other that you think its forming one letter, but in Test2 thet are spaced out properly.
PS: Same issue if I create my table directly from ms power point
I did reinstall MS Office, but same issues.

Answer:issues with spaces between characters (ms powerpoint 2003)

HI
Ok! in powerpoint- highlight the text you want to space out and click on the format tab in the menu bar...you'll see a tab line spacing. That should do the trick!

Hi, I've struggled for a long time with indents, and I think I have worked my frustrations down to one question:

Is it possible to have, contained within a single text box, a non-indented paragraph header (which spans over more than one line), followed by an indented bullet list?

My problem is that I hate the 'hanging indent' you get on the 2nd, 3rd etc lines of the opening paragraph, but equally I hate not having an indent after bullets and numbers!

I'm afraid that's about the best I can do in terms of explaining the problem - please let me know if it's not clear enough and I'll try to clarify!

Thanks.

Answer:Powerpoint 2003 - Indent Issues

I have never run into this problem; however, I would say it's because I would have put my header in a separate textbox or used the slide master to lay it out.

I recently got a new Vista computer at work and have discovered some really frustrating differences from XP in PowerPoint. The main one is any time I use the CTRL key to select multiple objects, they automatically create a copy of the shape directly underneath.

Also, when trying to distribute selected objects vertically or horizontally, it creates a whole bunch of duplicates as well.

I've looked through all the options, the help menu, index, and Googled this, but have not found anything at all that explains this odd and somewhat random behavior.

We have 2003 office XP pro edition on our church PC. Has been running great until recently. We only use word, excel, and powerpoint. Word, and Excel run fine, but powerpoint won't open. I tried reinstalling it, but same problem occurs. When MS office programs open, I noticed the little windows install box opens first. Word, excel then opens, ppt does not. If I go into safe mode, and open ppt as an administrator, it opens. Am I missing some installer files? or something else? Corupted files on disk? I tried every fix I could find on MS website...

we are creating ppt slides on office 2003 machines and when we send them for review to some of our client sites they are unable to see some images (.jpg) when they open the document in office 2000. is there a patch that they can run so that all images appear as they should on their machines? PS yes the images are in the file and not just links to images.

i forgot to mention that when saving file, when we choose the 97-2000 option our 4MB file becomes 45MB so that is out of the question unless we can just save it as 2000-2003 file format.

We are migrating PCs from Office 2003 Prof to Office 2007 Prof. On migrated machines running Office 2007 SP2 on Windows 7 Prof, Powerpoint fails to open any .pps files created in Powerpoint 2003. This includes copying the files locally. When opening via double clicking the file name the error returns "Powerpoint cannot read "filename"". If you try to open a pps from within Powerpoint 2007, the little blue circle appears for a second, but the file is not opened - no error is reported. The pps files continue to work fine with Powerpoint 2003.

When typing characters in a windows block, the characters get out of sequence.

Example of correct sequence: THIS IS A TEST OF MY INPUT

Example of actual results: TIS IS A TEST OF MY INPUTH

All characters get typed, but some get ahead of the cursor.

Any ideas as to the cause?

I would use that function to quickly enter my ?user name? or email address when accessing internet pages that require filling such fields plus the Password.

Answer:Typing several characters with one keystroke

Most browsers have the ability to remember or in some cases predict the username and password of a site you are trying to log in to.

If you tell me which browser you are using will point you to the relevant tutorial on how to set it up.

Also having your password mapped to a key on your keyboard is not a good idea in terms of security.

If you are still interested in mapping multiple letters or words to a single key it may be worth looking at Keyboard Layout Manager - Keyboard Editor Window (I'm not 100% sure it will let you assign multiple characters to one key but I think it can)

I've got one of these Logitech mouse/keyboard wireless combis. Last night the keyboard started playing up. Hitting either the T or V keys types both characters. Its the same with C or E and N and U. Other keys cause windows to open, among other random happenings. Rather annoying as some of these characters are in my log on password. If I did not have the Wacom on screen keyboard at startup I would have been up the creek. Running Vista Home Premium. I have changed batteries, and tonight I will try it with a bog-standard keyboard. if this is ok I suppose its time to ditch the Logitech and get a new one. Just wandered if anyone had any ideas.

Answer:Keyboard typing two characters

After a good coffee spill, mopped rinsed and wiped away from a veteran Cherry keyboard, the same double key standards applied. Fortunately this keyboard can be dismantled to the point where separate laminations could be thoroughly dried. But then a veteran like you would notice the wet splash ...... wouldn't you???

Hello Everyone!
I have a problem with my brand new L20 missing out a lot of characters when I am typing. After searching around the forums, it seems that a few people are also having this problem. I was wondering if anyone has had any luck in fixing this problem yet.

As far as I know, the problem only seems to be in WinXP, (I dual-boot with Linux Slackware 10.2 and don't notice the problem there) and I *think* it might have something to do with the internet. I say this because it is only really noticable for me when I am online, writing emails etc... (Writing to this forum takes a lot of error correcting) :)

Has anyone else been able to isolate when this problem is at its worse?

Also, is it possible to group together all the people who are having this same problem into one thread? I think there are about 3 separate threads where people have mentioned this problem, it would be nice to get everyone together to see if we can fix this.

I brought this notebook for programming, and as you can imagine I dare not try try any coding while this is happening, as it would cause toooooo many problems :)
So please, any help, hints, tips, advice or solutions would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Lee

I have a brand new Satellite C50-A-1CK which is perfect for my needs EXCEPT I continually get double characters appearing on screen when typing which is:
A. VERY frustrating
B. Wasting a lot of time as I have to keep correcting words to remove the duplicate characters.

Please does anyone know of a fix for this? It can affect any key on the keyboard and it doesn't matter if I type slow or quick, press the keys firmly or as light as possible.

Have checked for firmware updates but none available.

Thanks in advance!

Hi

I hope that someone can help you and me on this!

I have used other machines for years, I am a reasonably competent typist but have suffered the same problem on my Satellite C850 and it drives me mad.

Also the ease with which using the touchpad to move the cursor about results in the machine selecting the settings sidebar for Windows 8 by mistake.

I have tried changing the keyboard sensitivity within windows but this does not seem to help - just slows the keyboard right down.

Really frustrating

Hi, hoping someone here can help me...

Toshiba Satellite A60-106 running Windows XP is missing characters when I type. If I type very very slowly then every key works fine. At normal typing speed numerous letters are dropped. This happens in every application and does not seem load-dependent. The key repeat rate is also slower than it should be (I know how to set this; the problem is not with the setting but with the fact that the setting is not being honoured or recognised properly).

Virus/spyware scan reports clean. The problem began suddenly for no apparent reason and does not seem to be associated with any hardware or software changes. Tried starting in safe mode, tried disabling all non-essential services/startup progams via msconfg but to no avail; problem still there.

Laptop has historically suffered badly from overheating, but this problem is not obviously related as it's the same whether the machine is hot or cold.

Any ideas?

Answer:Re: Satellite A60-106 - Dropping characters when typing

Have you installed drivers for an external Keyboard or Mouse? (for example Logitech or Microsoft)

If you boot into MSDOS, does it still drop characters? You can download a DOS bootdisk from www.bootdisk.com

What BIOS Version is installed? Do you have the latest version?

In the text editor in Windows, even using an English keyboard configuration, I could type in accented characters by entering a combination of Alt+<ASCIIcode>, for example Alt+130 would type in the accented 'e' character; this sequence doesn't work in Linux.

Any suggestions on how to solve the problem ?

Suddenly as of this morning multiple keys on my laptop type their own key but also other characters. It mostly is just additional symbols rather than letters and tends to be the characters next door which they type.

For example:
1) typing 'p' gives 'p['
2) typing '0' gives '0-'
3) typing '-' gives '0-' also
4) typing '.' gives './'
5) typing '/' gives './' also
6) typing ';' gives ';''
7) and vice versa
Also num pad is not working!

So in short it's like a number of adjacent keys have become fused to each other.

I have tested this and it occurs in all programs and windows. On screen keyboard works fine though.

I have so far uninstalled the device driver rebooted and let it reinstall - changed nothing.

Can anybody help?
Thanks
Henry

Answer:Laptop keys also typing adjacent characters

Do you have another keyboard you can plug in and try? That will tell you if it's the keyboard (problem will not show with replacement) or the keyboard-to-PC interface (problem will persist with replacement). If you don't have an extra yourself, maybe you can borrow one from a friend /family/colleague/neighbor...?

Answer:windows live mail typing characters

I'm not that familiar with Windows Mail but suspect that it is seeing your character combination as a request for a smiley. You may be able to point to the symbol, right click and see if there is a 'remove smiley' option. Failing that, try using square or curly brackets ([ or {) as a work around.

If so, go to "Device Manager" and expand out the Keyboards entry. Right click your keyboard and then Uninstall. Hi There,
So when I try to log into any online banking/credit card website, typing on my keyboard produces a random string of characters which do not correspond to what I press. I of course am unable to log in under these circumstances as what I am typing is not simply masked but it really has typed the wrong character. This does not happen on any other type of website/situation, only banking/credit cards. no idea what is causing this, please help!
I am running windows 10, fully updated, I run ESET nod 32 antivirus, updated and scanned, malware bytes, updated and scanned, Zemana anti-logger (same happens when this is on and off (i have tried this) rapport service for google chrome, u block origin extension, https everywhere.

When I am typing I have text characters turn black or whole lines of text turn black. This happens on all sorts of websites and occasionally within programs themselves. I also have issues where text disappears in Browser tabs.  I have been trying to figure exactly the cause of this, but I am not having any luck. I notice this with both Firefox and Chrome. I am attaching a screen grab for reference and any system update have been completed.   Thank youKevin

Help! My laptop is going crazy! Whenever I click on a text box to type something characters automatically are entered, messing up my words and then they just keep typing themselves. Also the scroll, fn button keeps turning itself on without me touching it.

Obviously, I am not typing this post from that computer - or it would look like this

H-el--***p*******************************************!!!!!!******************************************

I have run Norton and updated Norton and it does not detect anything.

Is this a virus? How do I get rid of it??

Thanks in advance to any info anyone can give me.

Hello, thanks for any help. My "3edc" keys are typing incorrect characters. They display different items each time I press the keys. I've used W8.1 for sometime and this morning I was surprised to find that typing any character in many programs (for example Live Mail or Chrome) produces a floating menu of alternate chinese characters and won't allow me to have Western original typed on the keyboard. I tried one Registry fix for WLM but it didn't work as a value changed to 0 reset itself everytime to 1.
Any ideas where to look to fix this? It's actually impossible to use the effected laptop as data entry of any kind is now effectively defeated.

Answer:Typing any character now produces floating menu of chinese characters

Solved......I went to Control Panel > Languages and saw Chinese had appeared after my default English. No idea why, it just had. So I highlighted and pressed the option to Remove.

For some reason, there always seem to be a second delay on the keys on the keyboard, including the numeric keypad. Many times, either a character was skipped or the character showed up twice.
Vey frustrasting as I always have to go back to add or delete a character.

When I run a word program in safe mode, it works fine. Someone told me it may be a software issue as the problem does not occur in safe mode.
I am very careful with the laptop as I am sure there was no spill.

Any comment is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi,
As stated above in the questionnaire, my system was sluggish and I ran my PCMatic scan which would stop running about 40% through the scan. I ran Malwarebytes (free) with no issues found. Removed PCMatic and installed AVG (free) which found some issues and cleaned them up but performace wasn't improved much. My keyboard then began to act quirky by characters not appearing or the cursor jumping around or nothing will happen but the "system busy wheel" pops up for a few seconds before characters appear on the screen.

I came back to you guys because TwinHeadedEagle was so effective at helping me with my desktop 18 mos ago that I was hoping for help.

Thanks, regards and please advise if I can once again get some assistance,
Sandy Lanz

Answer:Strange behavior like typing & no characters appear, cursor jumps randomly

Hello,
Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
Press Scan button.

It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

Machine approaching three years old and not continually used. A couple of weeks ago, it started missing characters when typing or it will type two characters and then highlight them so when you type again the first two characters are gone. Does this on both the on screen and laptop keyboard. Tried an external keyboard and it too acted the same way.
Here's what I've done - run diagnostics (no issues), downloaded and installed most recent BIOS, chipset, video and all other drivers. Have also in Device Manager deleted keyboards and rebooted with no change. All Windows 10 updates are installed.
Most of the time I have it plugged in and charge set to only charge when battery is approaching low.
Have not removed the battery and keeping it as a last option.
Any ideas?

Hello,

I've got a problem with powerpoint (running mac office 2013) - it is allowing editing but is not allowing any typing, either directly onto slides or into the notes section. It's as though any keyboard functions are not being accepted, as it won't let me delete content either unless I go to edit and cut. I've checked permissions, and no restrictions are set. I've tried googling and looking through various threads, but can't find anything that refers to this issue.

Any help very gratefully received!

Many thanks.

Answer:Powerpoint will allow editing but not typing any content

Hi,

Have you saved as a "PowerPoint Picture Presentation" ?

If it still didn't work, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling? I've had to do this in the past with Office 2011 on my iMac. I was having some really odd issues and it fixed all of them.

I've run the trial version of MS Office 2007 for a month now. Today Powerpoint is doing something strange when I insert special characters such as a Euro charachter, , or a Spanish accent on a letter, .

What occurs is that Powerpoint doesn't move the cursor to after the character and it cuts the space before and after the character so it sticks too close to the character before and after. Basically it bunches up the special character with the before and after characters, and then positions itself in front of the special charachter I just wrote. Then I need to add space before and after the special character I wrote to make it give space around the character.

Any ideas???

Answer:Office 2007, Powerpoint, cursor behaves bizarre with special characters

I'd have a go at reinstalling it again!
With Office, when you reinsert the original CD, one of the options is usually "repair/modify" the installation.
You can't do any harm with this method.
If no luck you might be best to uninstall Powerpoint and the do a full reinstall again.

A PP file is created in Office 2007 and saved as a 97-2003 file format. These computers have the compatibility pack.

Any light you can shed on this issue is greatly appreciated!!!

Powerpoint was unable to display some of the text, images, or objects on slides in the file (xxx.ppt), because they have become corrupted. Affected slides have been replaced........

It locks up at opening or shortly after opening while trying the edit.

Please be clear on technical instructions since I'm a novice.

Hi, I bought a Lenovo Essential G580 on 15th May 2013. Everything was working perfectly until yesterday when my keyboard started to type random characters. I had just put my laptop to sleep on the night of 20th July 2013 and when I switched on the laptop on the evening of 21st July 2013 the keyboard started typing random stuff. There has been no spillage on the laptop as its safely covered on my table and I am the only one living in my room. Also to make sure its not because of a software glitch, I tried the following: 1. Restarted the system multiple times2. Went to an earlier System restore point. (Tried 5 different one's)3. Refreshed the system4. Took a backup and Formatted the whole hard disk and reinstalled Windows.5. Switched off the laptop for the night and tried switching it on today morning. None of the above helped. So obviously it is not a software problem. (FYI: The Onscreen Keyboard just works fine) A few example stuff which I get when I press the keys: CAPS Lock: WX (When I press Caps lock key it types WX along with it so the pattern goes like this: WXwxWXwxWXwx and so on if you keep pressing caps lock)q: When I press q its types a tab with qwm: its types yum instead of mw: works like caps lock key. Turns on Caps and types WX too.x: same as wBackspace: Backspace deletes one character and along with that presses the enter key too The keys in the middle row i.e.. asdfghjkl are all working fine. Answer:Strange characters in outlook 2003

Sounds like you are using Word as your email editor. If that is the case then it sounds like you have the show/hide formatting characters selected. To turn on/off:
Open a new blank email. Click on View, then on Toolbars and make sure that the standard toolbar is selected to show.
Once that toolbar is showing look at the attached picture to know what button to toggle. By selecting this button the Show/Hide Formatting characters will be turned on or off.
Hope this Helps,

A friend is having difficulty w/ Outlook 2003 (he's a beta tester for it.)

When he receives emails that contain a link, and clicks on the link, a new window opens as it would normally when you click a link contained in email. However, instead of the correct web address appearing in the browser bar, what appears is this: http://%1 , plus the correct address.

Example: If someone sent him an email with the link http://www.google.com , and he clicked on it, a browser would open directing him to http://%1 http://www.google.com . He then has to remove the extra "http://%1%20" and redirect the browser to the correct address.

He wonders if anyone has any thoughts as to why a URL appearing in mail would add characters. He's using a Dell PC, IE6, WinXP-Pro. Thanks.

Answer:Outlook 2003 adding characters to URLs

It sounds like your friend may be infected by CoolWebSearch. Could you ask your friend to go to http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ , and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please copy & paste its contents to the forum.

It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

Hi,

In Persian (Farsi), in addition to spacing between characters, there is also "Half Spacing" between characters by pressing "Ctrl+Shift+2" keys when required.

For example:

In "Microsoft Word 2003 Professional Edition" however, half spaces change to vertical lines except in "Reading View". Here is an example:

This problem occurs only for me. In other computers with Word 2003 installed that I tested, there aren't vertical lines, and half spacing works correctly. When files typeset correctly are sent to me the same problem occurs on my computer.

How can I get rid of these vertical lines ?

Thank you,

PersianGuy.

I have received a file (written using Word 2003) containing a table. When I open the file using Word 2003 and type a new line in one cell of the table, if the entry is longer than the width of the cell then characters about 20 typed after I reach the width of the cell do not appear in the file on the next line.I would like to change the settings for the file (or for the table) so that I can type text that is longer than the width of a cell and see that text.

Answer:word 2003--lost characters in a table's cell

Hi,There are a number of settings that affect Word's table size and actions.First try this:Right-click on the cell in the table (or select the whole table and right-click).Select 'Table Properties...'.In the Table properties dialog box select the 'Cell' tab.In the Cell tab click the 'Options...' button. You can check either ''Wrap text' or 'Fit to text'.You probably want to use 'Wrap text', as 'Fit to text' changes the font size - usefull if you have occasional cells with text that is just a shade too long to fit.Click OK out of the dialog boxes. Alternatively select the 'Table' tab in the Table properties dialog box and click the 'Options...' button.Check the 'Automatically resize to fit contents' box.You can also manually resize row heights - with the mouse over the lower border of a row, when the mouse changes to two parallel lines, click the left mouse button, hold it down and drag the row to the required height.Regards

Hi, I am looking for a bit of advice if possible. I really don't know what to call my problems, and I don't know if its related to my laptop, or the upgrade.

Firstly, when dragging an internet page up or down, using the mouse pad (buttons work fine), the bar doesn't release for a second or so. I know this may not sound bad, but as I move to click something or whatever, it moves my page all over as it still thinks I am dragging the page, so any help on that would be great.

Also, when I search on the internet, through google or whatever, a lot of the time, when I type, once I look what I have typed, the first letter is always at the end of the sentence, so again, any assistance on that would be great.

I am using a samsung laptop, although I can't see that being the problem, as these issues didn't happen while on windows 7

Thanks

Question: PowerPoint 2003

I have an issue where more than one person can open the same ppt file in edit mode at the same time. I know this is not supposed to happen, first person gets edit mode, all others should get read-only notice. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly beneficial.

Answer:PowerPoint 2003

I think that your thoughts...would apply only if the file being accessed...only exists in one location. Perhaps not, since the original document remains saved until replaced by an edited version. I've not been in a situation where I shared documents in one location, so I can't be sure.

IME, users typically make copies when editing a file/document used/accessed by others...edit the copy...and then save the document.

Question: Powerpoint 2003

Morning all. I have a relatively new (1year old) comp with Office 2003 installed, Dual-monitor-out Nvidia Graphics card, and a projector. For those of ya'll familiar with Powerpoint 2003, when you click slideshow, or press F5, a special screen will pop-up showing you all your slides and a view of what the projector is showing, plus a notes area. Recently though, when we press F5, instead of that screen popping up, the view stays the same, the slideshow creation area, and the only way to change slides is to use the arrow key, clicking on the slides will only move you out of the slideshow, requiring you to click on the taskbar button: "Projector Slideshow". As you can imagine, this get incredibly annoying, and, as I am not the one running the slideshow, very confusing for the person doing it. We've tried messing with the resolutions, rebooting, different projectors, etc. If anyone knows of another solution, let me know please.

I have a dell lattitude d610 laptop that if you use the function + F8 keys to change the view to a projector or secondary monitor the resolution changes to 400% and acts as if the mouse scroll is being used constantly. Try Picking which view you want to use before you open up the powerpoint. I think Powerpoint auto adjusts to the screen size for any presentation. But if it is while the powerpoint is being viewed it may screw up a bit.

Question: PowerPoint 2003

Hi there,

We have around 50 users here that work from home via a Microsoft terminal server and in the office on Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 presentations.  Lately we have had about 10 users getting corrupt Powerpoint files AFTER they had worked on the file via the terminal server the night before.  I think this is related to them working on the file remotely but have no idea how this could be caused.  The most frequent error appears when trying to edit data behind charts 'The server application, source file, or item can't be found, or returned an unknown error. You may need to reinstall the server application'.

I've researched the error and found it on Microsofts website but they implicate Norton Antivirus as the culprit.  We do not have and AV software on the Terminal server or the fileserver where the files is stored so I have to rule this out.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Answer:PowerPoint 2003

What kinds of changes are they making to the PowerPoint files? The error often occurs when some other file type is embedded in the PowerPoint slide, usually an Excel spreadsheet or a PDF, and usually results when the object is not embedded properly.

Answer:MS powerpoint 2003

Save whatever page you need to a handy folder in My Pictures. I generally use a freeware application, such as Gadwin's Print Screen, to capture the screen and turn it into a bitmap file, which is the more readable. Then insert the bitmap into a blank PPT page. You may need to do several tries until you get one that fits and is readable at the same time.

Dear all,

I need to review the (tracked) changes that a text editor made to a paper I have written. When I open the file with track changes, my own text is still readable and some of the text the editor added, too. However, some of the track-change-balloons only contain strange characters (see attachment and an example of the type of characters below).

Same type of characters appear in the "document map"

Does anybody have a clue what causes this and how to display the text in normal Latin characters?

Many thanks in advance, Kees

PS I just discovered that the the font type above is called ESRI NIMA. ESRI is GIS software company. I use one of their programs (ArcGIS).

Hi Everyone, I hope someone has the answer to this query!

I think I have pressed a sequence of keys on my keyboard composing that now causes text formatting characters to be embedded as ASCII symbols, e.g. <CR> , TAB, LF. They are embedded whenever I compose an email. When the recipient receives the email everything appears as normal. When I receive emails everything displays fine it is just the composition of new emails that has the issue. Even spaces between my words display as a small dot.

Does anyone know what I have done and how to rectify it please?

Many thanks

Answer:Outlook 2003 Problem with control characters displaying as symbols

Hi calidore

Welcome to Tech Support Guy Forums!

You may have the paragraph mark enabled (backwards P icon), open a new message and click the paragraph mark to toggle it on and off.

See this link, you may also have Word setup as your e-mail editor.

You may want to disable that feature.
Let us know if that makes a difference or not.

Hi I have a Windows 7 which had originally installed Microsoft office 2010 but just for a 1 month trial so I?ve installed Microsoft office 2003 for which I have a licence. I have disabled the 2010 Office. I am not sure what?s wrong with the PowerPoint but recently it keeps crashing and the following message appears: ?PowerPoint was unable to display some of the text, images or objects on slides in the file? because they have become corrupted. Affected slides have been replaced by blank slides in the presentation and it is not possible to recover the lost information. To ensure that the file can be opened in previous versions of PowerPoint, use the save as command and save the file with either the same or a new name.? ? When I try to save under different name, the problem still persists. Moreover the presentations changed and all of the slides have the borders and lines, when I?m trying to clear them (no fill for both: lines and borders for every single slide) the presentation not responding and crashes. Also the master slides are different to the slides; my logo at the footer disappears?this is so annoying and I really don't know what might be the problem, especially for the borders and lines that are now visible and spoiling the presentation.I?ve been thinking of reinstalling it but not sure if this will help. Can anyone please help me?Much appreciated!

Answer:PowerPoint 2003 keeps crashing

Hi,There is no need to reinstall the Microsoft office. The reason for this error is Microsoft security update 2464588 that was released in mid April. Microsoft has identified this issue and a hotfix is available to deal with this error. You can find complete information about the hotfix here.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/254...RegardsJane

Is there some downside to not using placeholders? I often use the blank design template (the one with no title, pix, text placeholders) to hold a form or a full slide size picture, and just copy directly from the file out of my My Documents to the slide. Am I creating a problem that I cannot foresee?

Thanks

Answer:Powerpoint 2003 - Not using placeholders

YES! When you make your own texboxes then they do not inherit the formatting or changes you make to the master.

Hi, I am trying to open a file that is on a web page in powerpoint. When I try to right click save link as, it says "link cannot be saved. Web site may have been removed or changed its name. When I click on the link directly, it opens the slideshow in a webpage, and only lets me print one slide at a time, and it takes up 5 pages per slide of blank space too. My question is how can I either print from this page as an outline form, or open the file in powerpoint so I can print it?
Thanks in advance

Answer:Powerpoint Question 2003 I Think

Can you right click, select all, save it, and then open it with powerpoint?
