Question: help Keep getting blue screen when I turn computer on

Every time I turn on my computer a blue screen appears saying all these error stuff! which gave an error code of wording of USB BUGCODE

What can I do get rid of it? Cause I need to use that computer as there are some files on it I need to access. But I cannot even do anything with the pc because every time I turn it on a blue screen appears.
Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Preferred Solution: help Keep getting blue screen when I turn computer on

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: help Keep getting blue screen when I turn computer on

ok, first that error code should have a bunch of numbers. Those numbers are important for looking up the actual cause of the error. USB BUGCODE seems, and I'm not sure of this, seems to indicate a possible error with a usb port or device. Do you have any usb devices plugged in when you try to boot up? You might try unplugging any one at a time for each boot up. Without the numbers I can only guess that a usb port has a problem. Hope this helps.

Hi,
I have an ACER Extensa 2300 and have had no problems with it so far but in the last week or so it has been playing up. Everytime i go to search engine and do a search and when the results show and i click on a result i get redirected to Yahabags and some other websites. Another problem is when i try and turn the computer off, just as it is going to shutdown I get the blue screen of death and the computer restarts, the only way i can turn the computer off is by pushing the on button until it shutsdown. Please help i have assignments and important work for my essay etc. Any help would be great.

hi friends :when I turn on computer a blue screen appears!! why??? what should I do?

Answer:when I turn on computer a blue screen appears!!

Lets see if Safe Mode works:

Booting into Safe Mode Win 8/10

1. Start your computer
2. When it starts booting, force shut-down

Keep doing this until you see this screen

Now, let it finish, and if it says it is unable to repair your computer, like this:

Click Advanced Options > Start-Up Settings > Restart
When this screen comes up, press f5 to go to Safe Mode

Let us know if you can go to Safe Mode without any problems

Hi

My desktop keeps showing blue screens. Yesterday I was able to start it up and tried to restore to a previous point, but it wouldn't complete and gave a blue screen. Now I can't turn the computer on without a blue screen displaying. I've pulled out the old laptop to post this. So far I've copied down the info for three of them. They are as follows:

The first one I saw:
REGISTRY_ERROR
TECHNICAL INFO:
0x000000051 (0x0000000D, 0x00000001, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
Another blue screen displayed:
0x000000024 (0x00190203, 0x864401A8, 0x00000102, 0x00000000)
And the last one I saw:
0x000000024 (0x00190203, 0x86D79168, 0x00000102, 0x00000000)

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Michael

Answer:Blue screen everytime I turn on computer

Your STOP 24 error...indicates a problem with either a key system file, your partition/file structure, or your hard drive.

See 24 in left column at http://www.aumha.org/a/stop.htm .

The Stop 51 error is somewhat ambiguous, but...since part of the error message indicates a registry problem, I would believe that.

When I tried to trouble shoot from BIOS I got error code:80004001. It said the boot disk is missing or contains errors. Need recovery tools. I am operating on Windows XP and my AVG free antivirus is saying that a trojan is infecting the following: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\agp440.sys I have scanned this file with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and the scan says there is no virus present in that file. Lately my computer has been going to a blue screen with white writing for no reason lately saying that there is either a problem with some newly installed software ( i haven't installed any new software i dont think) or a driver or something. This blue screen has been comeing more and more often and right now i am operating my computer in safe mode with networking in order to have the time to write this before my computer would divert to that screen. First i used system restore (about two weeks ago) to a point in time two weeks before the time at which i was using system restore (about a month ago?). however the blue screen came back and started to come more frequently. Recently i resotred my computer to a date 2 months before today and i still have this blue screen (which started showing up about a month ago). Is there anyway you could help me with this???

i am then given to option to boot in : safe mode
safe mode with networking
safe mode with comand prompt

last known good configuration
start windows normaly

I have tryd each one of these options and they all lead to the same outcome. i get the windows xp loading screen, then a blue screen with white writting comes up for about a second then the laptop basicaly restarts and im back at the start of this loop.

Normaly im ok to fix my laptops small problems, however as it wont boot up windows i carnt use what i know.

Answer:htc 8x won't turn on (error message, blue screen)

A different version of the same error has occurred to my L1020 more than a month ago. Unfortunately, it seems that not even a software recovery program can fix the problem since the phone won't even be recognized by the computer... and that there seems to be no publicly available software recovery program for HTC phones in the first place. My advice would be to have it diagnosed in an accredited service center.

Hello all,

I'm having trouble with my laptop. I have a 5 year old Toshiba Satellite. Last week when I had it on, the screen suddenly went off but the music I had on was still playing, I managed to get it on a few minutes later, but it then went pink and green like when you press your finger on an LCD screen.

Today I had it on, was working fine. Left it unattended, came back and the screen was a dark blue colour. I've tried turning it off, taking battery out, charger out, holding the start button for 30/60 seconds with battery out etc but nothing. I also forgot to mention that earlier this evening and the past few nights, it's taken a lot of jiggling to get my charger to be recognised on the laptop.

Does anyone know of the problem or even better, a solution? Won't show up when HDMI is plugged in on TV either.

Thanks in advance

Hi. So I'm having some computer issues and need help please. I'm running windows7 on an Acer Aspire 5532 laptop. All of a sudden today my screen goes blue with these instructions to go to Bios in Safe Mode and turn off caching and shadowing. I can't figure out how or where to do that? At the top of the screen it says IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. Also gives me a stop code of 0x0000000A. At bottom of page says conducting physical memory dump. Not sure if the two are correlated but I also just got some trojan Microsoft Security Essential Alert. Malwarebytes does clear it out completely. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Meant to say malwarebytes doesn't clear the trojan completely.

I
I have a HP Probook 4530S laptop and when I went to turn it on the other day it gave me a blue screen with the error aptport.sys. I have tried ot reboot no luck. So I took the drive out and used a external hard drive case, I plugged it in to a desktop PC. I have a C drive and two partitioned drives. When I plugged it in only the two partitioned drives appeared but not the C drive partition with all of the windows files etc.
At the very least I would like to just copy my files over to a new drive as storage and be happy.
I have googled but I find myself more confused. I find it weird that some of the drives show up, does that mean the hard drive is not completely crapped out?
How can I get my files?
Thanks

Answer:HP laptop will turn on, but screen stays blue with moving cursor?

Can you enter into safe mode? Normally by hitting the F8 key on start up. Then you can select safe mode with networking and go look for the latest video driver for you system and check to see if it's better than or the same as your current driver.

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 dv6-3122sa
Windows 7 home premium (64 bit)

I've had it for about 8 months, and then today all of a sunden whilst ~I was browsing the web, it started to freeze and was taking ages to load/ respond to clicks. [I did not install anything today, did not download anything, was not opening an email] I was literally just browsing the web like I always do, and out of no where it started playing up.

Then out of no where, I got a blue screen saying there was an error- if this is the first time I've have received this error just let it restart. And it was the first time, so I did let it restart.

But now it keeps going to a blank screen, it as a blue background picture with white rays and I can move the cursor but nothing happens. In other words The screen background just stays blue with white rays, but I can move the cursor.

Just as soon as it loads up to the screen background that just stays blue with white rays, there is a loading bar on the cursor, followed by a transparent grey pop up box that appears for about a second before vanishing.. then nothing happens. I can move the cursor that is all.

I've tried restarting/ taking the battery out etc no joy..
So I went to start up repair (normaly I would get a wizard that gives me the chance to do a system restore)
Anyway it does the same thing, it takes me to the blue screen, shows a grey transparent popup box for a second before disapearing.

So I really need my computer because I have a paper due Monday. lol

Okay, so my computer turns on, but all you hear is the fan blow (it seems to blow faster and the air is not warm or hot). The screen is completely black, and when I hook it up to another monitor, it is blank just like my laptop.

Another thing is that only the bluetooth light and the sleep light turns on. Nothing else turns on.

Hello, originally my problem is that my internet browsers (Internet explorer, firefox) can not display any kind of pages because of some kind of virus. Also I had some kind of fake Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) asking me to download more fake AV's onto my computer but I knew well enough that it was fake so I close it. This also shows up in safe mode. MSE block me from opening things such as iexplorer.exe or sometimes it would say tskmanager is a virus and it wouldn't let me open anything. So eventually I google this up, and I read somewhere that told me to rename hotfix.exe to hotfix1.exe when I run %APPDATA% so the annoying MSE would stop showing up. It also told me to update my Malwarebyte which I still can not do because I still do not have access to the internet. By the way I am using another computer to type this. So again, I tried to do some more research to fix my internet problem and I found this site that told me to download KillGodzilla.exe and run it and reboot my computer, after that I should update my Malwarebyte but of course, I can't do that because after the WINDOWS loading screen, the blue log in screen doesn't show and displays a black screen which flickers sometimes, after a few minutes it would restart my computer. Also same thing for safe mode. Does anyone know what is going on? Did I screw up my computer to badly? Do I need to reset my BIOS? I am using Windows XP if that helps. I also hav ESET smart security on my computer but I can... Read more

Hi, I read a couple of posts mentionning problems when updating the BIOS and now it's my turn to have this problem. I updated the BIOS with the last update and the Blue screen appeared at some point during the update. I restarted my computer and now I have absolutely nothing on screen; not even the booting screen. It seems to boot but I can't see nothing.Did someone experience the same problem? Here are my computer specs:ThinkPad T61P 15,4" screen6460-67FWindows XPDVD writer100gig Hitachi HDAlso, how come there are so many major problems when there's a "critical update"? They tell you not to update the BIOS when nothing is wrong but why wouldn't you update it when it's supposed to be "Critical"?Thank you!

Answer:Blue screen with last BIOS update - Now my computer seems to boot but there's nothing on the screen

Welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear about your mishap. Try removing the BIOS (CMOS) battery for five minutes and then re-booting. If the hardware hasn't been damaged in the process of a BIOS update, and no BIOS corruption has occured, you should be able to boot with the machine now being reverted to the original BIOS... Good luck.

Here's the deal:My mom gave me her old computer when it was about 2 years old. it was working fine except that sometime the screen wouldn't come on when you started up the computer. the lights and fan would start running and then the fan would turn off and the computer screen would stay black. well usually you could just wait a few minutes and it would start on it's own, now it won't turn on at all! the start light around the start button will come on and then fan will start like normal but before the screen will come on the fan will turn off and the screen will stay completely black but the start light will still be on. i have left it on for an entire day and still nothing. i really can't wipe the whole computer out because i have important information on it. i desperately need help. I am not good with fixing things and need to get my computer running before finals. i can get additional info if needed.any help would be amazing. Thanks.

Answer:My computer screen won't turn on!

I am wedded to the idea that your power supply is on the bonkers . There seems to be insufficient  power to the motherboard hence not enough to drive the display card. The lack of proper voltages result in the CPU resetting itself to off- mode hence stopping the fan and power supply. Much about the PC is diagnosis - sometimes right sometimes wrong - and swapping hardware that you know is good. Just borrow a good power supply and see what happens. While you're at it , take a peek at the capacitors on the motherboard...see if all the tops are flat...bulges will spell a headache !

so, when I was on my computer it just randomly shut down on me.
No warning nothing.

when i tried to start it up again my computer turns on and the fans go on.
but my computer screen stays black.
the on button for the screen is flashing green meaning its on. i tried unconnecting and connecting the screen back to the computer...still nothing.

also, my keyboard doesnt light up, and my mouse (which is connected THROUGH the keyboard) turns half on (the wheel lights up, but the image doesnt light up). so i know there is electricity running through my keyboard.

can anyone explain/help me with this scenario? i've been trying at it for a couple of days now.
any sort of advise would be great (if you need any other info ill be more than welcome to provide anything to help you help me)

Answer:I can't get my computer screen to turn on, please help

Sounds to me like some kind of hardware failure. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what, but I would be inclined to say some type of Motherboard problem. If the fans spin up & devices get partial power.

Are you handy and comfortable working inside a computer? If not you might see what a technician can do with it.

Now whenever I turn the computer on it won't respond(Goes to a Blank Black Screen) and the only way I can make the computer respond is to go to safe mode and UN-install the Graphic Card, then restart the computer back again. Once I've done that the computer would work, but I can't watch Videos or play Video Games on the computer. There also would be these little blue lines on the computer screen (Sometimes their would be alot of the lines and sometimes the lines would be made by the trail of my mouse).

I've tried lots of ways to fix the computer. I've tried:

- Un-installing and re-installing my graphic card (Nvidia Geforce4 MX420 graphics card with TV-Out) that came with the computer.

- Rolling Back My Graphic Card.

- Updating My Drive from Windows Update.

- I've tried using a program that test my computer and tells me whats wrong with it. It said I got a problem with something like the VIDEO MEMORY CARD and I don't know what that is.

Is the Only way I can fix this is to buy another Graphic Card. I do not want to waste $200.00. Please Help Me!

Thank You.

So I got a hp pavilion tx510us entertainment notebook (runs Vista) and it seems to turn on (like all the lights are on and it makes noises) but the screen is black/blank or whatever. And its not just a blank screen because then I would have been able to put my pass in and then hear the turn on music and stuff. The thing is this happened before when it was still under warranty so I sent it in for free and they sent it back and it turned on and it still had on all my stuff so it must have been an easy enough solution, but when I chatted with them again I guess they don't keep track of what they did to it and they want me to send it in again and that would cost a large sum of money because its no longer under warranty. I did a hard reset a few times and took out the memory module and put it back in agian but still nothing. So, anyone have any ideas?

My computer that i own isn't working properly. Firstly, its about 4-5 years old the power button gets stuck. I've been fiddling with it from the outside to come out all the way since if it goes in all the way and doesnt come out, it keeps restarting. When i wiggle it out, it starts and goes.

Now onto my problem now. When i start up my computer, a screen pops up allowing me to press F1 for setup. if i don't click F1, my computer goes to a black screen with a _ blinking in the top right. I can't do anything from that point and when i press keys too many times, it starts beeping after i hit any key again.

Anyways if you guys could help me, I would be very thankful!

Answer:Turn on my computer, black screen

sounds like it may be time for an upgrade

have you made any hardware changes or installed new device drivers?

from what you describe it seems like the system is having some issues booting the operating system from the hard drive, or there could be another hardware fault causing the hangup... like the memory or motherboard itself. if you are able to view the POST screen upon startup (which displays all of the system information and keys to access BIOS etc...) then you may be able to boot from a CD-ROM to run repairs or possibly boot into safe mode by repeatedly striking the F8 key after the POST screen appears.

When I turn on my computer it shows nothing but a blank screen. Doesn't even go into bios 19 out of 20 times. Every now and then it boots into BIOS and begins loading Windows, but freezes at the loading screen. What could the problem be? A couple months earlier the computer would randomly shut down while I was using it. I'm assuming the problem might be the probably the power supply. It's an emachine t3624: http://emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=T Series&model=T3624#

And yes, I know I really need to upgrade to a new computer... but I have absolutely no money I can put towards buying one at the moment. It would take me at least a couple months to be able to afford even a cheap one....

My HP All In One screen won't turn on. The power button's light comes and the AC adapter port light comes on. I've taken the back off to see if the fans worked, and they do, but the screen won't come on. I've detached all USB devices (mouse, keyboard, etc) and I emptied the CD ROM, to restart the computer. Didn't work. What can I do? Also, I noticed that when I pressed the caps lock on my keyboard the caps light doesn't come on. Help me please.

My computer was dusty and may have been overheating. The fans were operating very loudly and i tried to turn on the screen but it is black. I cleaned the dust, and it still will not bring anything up on the screen. The fans work and i can hear the drives working. I tried changing the psu, cleaning the heatsink, and reseating everything. and removed the battery and put it back in to reset the bios. Nothing has worked so far. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated? Is it possible that i fried my motherboard or processor?

I recently put in an upgrade to my ram from 512 mb to 768 total Ram. I went to turn it on and I saw a spark where the P1 is at, and now the screen will not turn on, but my hard drive still turns on or runs? Did I short circuit my motherboard? could it be my video graphics card? any help on getting it back to working condition? thanks

Answer:My computer starts up but my screen will not turn on

Make sure you unplug mains lead after you shutdown. Remove the upgrade ram and try starting again. when you say "where the P1 is at" do you mean the power connector to the Mainboard?.

Could be a few things but i suspect you have blown a ram module or the PSU.

I turn on my computer, it begans to start up, and then the moniter just goes black and won't show the desktop or anything. It has done this every day for the past week or more and it's getting harder and harder to get onto the computer. What I do is turn the moniter on/off until it shows me a glimpse of the desktop, and then I mess with the screen saver power options (while it continues to keep going black and I have to turn the moniter on and off to get glimpes of what i'm doing), and eventually it just stops going black and works for the whole rest of the day until the next morning. I checked the FAQs and I heard people with the same situation mention video cards, but I'm not that great with computers and frankly I don't even know what that is. Help?

Whenever I turn my computer on I get a black screen and it doesn't budge from there. My monitor just seems to go into sleep mode and I can't do anything. Also my dvd drive makes this horrible sound whenever I start up my computer so I swapped out the drive with another one I had around the house and it made the exact same noise. I even took out my hard drive to make sure that wasn't what was making the noise. I've never encountered such a strange problem before. I tested the optical drive in another computer and it doesn't make this noise. I just have no idea what could be causing it. Any suggestions?

GeForce 6800XT 256mb PCI-E
2 gigs of RAM
Windows XP Media Center Edition

Answer:Blank screen when I turn my computer on.

Since no one else will try this one I will have a go.

First if you have no picture, why are you playing with the dvd drive?

Graunching noises suggest fan problems. Either a fan is clogged up with dirt or catching on an internal cable or just wearing out. Check all these including your graphics card.

At best this is your problem and restarting the fan will restart your picture.

Next best option is the power supply failing, not providing proper power to dvd drive and graphics card. Check by substitution.

If this does not work you have cooked something, this could be any or all of, memory, processor, graphics card. Depending on the specs of your other pc you may be able to check these out, one at a time, by substitution.

Post the results and good luck

Hi and welcome,

Has the problem always been apparent or has it just started to happen recently?

After the bluescreen, is it asking you you would like to start in safe mode? If not, repeatidly press F8 as the computer is first started and it will come up with a menu asking you to select a boot mode. Select Safe Mode (no networking, initially).

Does it boot in Safe mode? Come back and let us know.

i just built this computer i did everything try to put it to sleep or hibernate, the screen will turn off but the computer is still running, i've tried to enable hibernation option by turning it on in command center powercfg -h on. and i went to disk clean up the Hibernation File Cleaner is not there.

when it put powercfg a it saids "the following states are available standby "s1" hibernate"i also went to bios and the setting is on S1, i also disable the network adapter from waking the computer up. i've tried everything!!! please help!!

i have

Processor - AMD Anthlon ii x4 635

MotherBoard- msi 785gm-E51 (MS-7596)

Graphic Card - nvida geforce 9800 gtx+

ram- 4g ddr3 1600

System - windows 7 64 bit.

Thanks!!

Answer:computer can't hibernate or sleep, screen will turn off but cpu is on

It's likely a device or driver will be stopping the sleep state so what works for me is open "power options" from the control panel and set as balanced then go to change plan settings set turn off screen to never then sleep to something like 2 mins .........

now go to "change advanced power settings" and try wireless adapter in "medium power saving mode" then for sleep set hybrid sleep and hibernate to off, for USB settings "USB selective suspend" as enabled, power buttons and lid as your choice , PCI express as "moderate power settings"

It is also possible that a USB device such as bluetooth can be stopping sleep state so experiment with turning the device on or off or even unplugging while you test and make sure they are using the latest drivers ?

try that and see if if your PC will sleep, and for further debugging from an elevated cmd prompt run : powercfg -energy and note path output to system32 folder , view energy-report.html copy out of your system32 folder into an easy access folder or desktop then view in your browser for a detailed report ?

If you do get it to sleep you can go back to advanced and set hibernation on, using the hybrid sleep setting, and you can adjust your time and turn off display to your liking

let us know how it goes

I was playing a game on my PC while it was storming out and the power surged. Before I could unplug my pc the power came back on and my computer started back up. After starting back up it said installing update do not turn off the computer. I waited until it was done then it brought me to a black screen with a Windows logo and a circular loading bar. I waited somewhere between 5-10minutes before holding down the power button until it turned off. Upon turning the computer back on all the fans would work and everything it would show the blue screen that says to press esc then brings me to a black screen where it would have a _ mark in the top left and beep non stop. It isnt a long beep or anything its just multiple beeps non stop until I turn it off. I have tried taking out the ram and putting it back in but it just keeps beeping. I did a mem test and it showed that nothin was wrong with the ram. The beeps are high pitched and very fast. I have a video showing what happens if there is a way to post it.

Hi,
I have a problem that started about a week ago. Every time I turn my computer on in the morning, when I turn it on a strange screen comes up. It's usually something that's trying to get me to download drivers or update adobe or something like that. The screen that showed up this morning was this: hxxp://static.thehumanallegiance.com

This is the info from the TSG SysInfo:

I have tried a new cable and monitor but it does not fix the problem. I have checked the graphics card and it says it is working properly. I have run windows troubleshooter to check for errors but none are found. What could be causing this. I am running windows 10 but it was a windows 7 originally, the problem has been happening for a couple months now and i upgraded when windows 10 first came out so I don't think the upgrade is the problem either.

In order to better assist you, can you provide the product number of your laptop? If the computer locks up at the HP or Compaq logo screen or the Windows loading screen, try cleaning the computer vents with compressed air. Restart the computer. If Windows 10 opens, you are done. If Windows 10 does not open, go to Troubleshooting other issues with computer not starting. Let me know how it goes. If this helps you to reach a solution, please click the "Accept as Solution" button down below in this message. HI,
My problem started back when i tried to install windows 7 on another disk, but it would not. Now i did this while my primary windows 7 hard drive was already istalled. after i gave up on trying to get windows to install onto this secondary hard drive, i rebooted the computer to find that my primary ssd would not load windows, and simple came to a black screen that said:

Remove disks or other media.
Press any key to restart

then i would press a key and it would say:

Reboot and select proper boot device
or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key.

I have no recovery disk and most definitely do not understand what remove disks or other media means because I removed the windows installer dis and tried again but nothing happened. Please help, i am so confused, thankyou.

So a few weeks ago we had to have some viruses removed from our computer, and it seemed like it was working again. Today, when we went to turn it on, the screen would only turn on for about 30 seconds, and then it would go blank. You could still hear the computer running though. Then when we shut it down and tried to start it in safe mode, we weren't able to. It said something like "No support", but when we tried starting it how we usually do, it worked. Now it's working really slow, and the screen keeps on freezing.

Answer:Computer runs but the screen doesn't turn on

Hi -

Is it a laptop or desktop?

If laptop, try connecting an external monitor. A laptop here loses monitor a few seconds after boot due to a known hardware issue.

If desktop, try another cable +/or monitor.

i am using my laptop to report this.cause i can't use the one with the black screen.HELP!!!!!! when it first comes on its like it tries to start but just stays black.can it be fixed or do i have to buy a new screen?(i'm not sure if its called the screen or the monitor.i just know that when i turn the tower on,there is no picture .

Answer:black screen after i turn my tower to my other computer on.r

If you do not see the message "No Signal" on the monitor screen, very likely it's the monitor itself which is faulty or "dead".To check if it is indeed the monitor which needs replacing, connect it to your laptop if possible (there should be a VGA port on one side of your laptop so you can connect the monitor using the same VGA cable that connects monitor to your PC). If the monitor does not work on your laptop either, you need a new monitor. However, if your tower is not starting up it won't be a faulty monitor. There is something wrong inside the tower. Get someone to check it over, maybe needs a new PSU (Power Supply Unit) which fits inside the tower.Do not rush out to buy a new monitor if the tower is not starting up as the problem will be inside the tower.message edited by phil22

I've seen this problem posted a lot, but never with all of the same details as me.  I have Windows 8, but unsure if 64 or 32, I"m guessing 64.  I have a sealed battery, so I'm unable to remove the battery.   I rarely see my model number mentioned at all. I have turned the computer off and back on several times with peripherals removed.  Right now, it's on and open (so it's not asleep) and not plugged in.  All I can see and get is a black screen.  The caps light blinks now and again. I really would rather not reset and lose everthing, of course, who does?   What do I do?

The hp blue splash screen is on the monitor with three options F10 (setup) Esc (boot menu) and F11 (system recovery). When I shut it off and restart; while pressing the F10 the screen comes up saying it is entering setup, but never happens. Same with the Esc. F11 doesn't even pretend to work.

Re: i turn the computer on, but there is no beeps and i cannot get past the hp screen

First: Remove any media from the floppy drives, CD/DVD drives, USB ports, and memory card reader slots, and disconnect all non-essential devices (printers, scanners, external hard drives, and similar). Leave only the keyboard, mouse, and monitor connected to the computer.
Next press F10 repeatedly, even before the HP screen appears and see if you can get into the BIOS.

My wifes laptop has developed a problem. On booting it starts with the "Windows starting " logo and then goes to a black screen and goes no further. It looks like the hard drive is still flashing away giving the impression that underneath it is still working but no picture. We want to use the repair disc that came with the laptop but because we cant see anything to shut the computer down via windows we are having to use the power button and therefore it prompts to start up again in safe mode because it was shut down unusually. We want to close it down completely and let the repair disc do its work on boot up from fresh start. Because we cant see anything on the screen to initiate shut down via windows is there another way of shutting down completely for the above reasons.
Also do I need to press f2 and tell the system boot from the cd (repair disc) or can I leave settings as is and it will do it automatically. Answers appreciated asap. Many thanks

Answer:How else do I turn off windows when computer has black screen.

On many laptops pressing and releasing the on/off button acts as a re-set but if you hold the power button down for 5 to 10 seconds the machine will turn off completely.

Hi Guys,

I got a virus this morning and moved it to chest and then I restarted it, when it began to boot, it froze for about a minute at the boot screen then proceeded to load after this, so I shut it down and turned it back on and had to wait about a minute on the boot screen to get past it, it so I went into the bios and clicked the reset to optimized defaults incase it had a problem, so I saved it and exited.

The computer then booted it as it would do when i turn it on but now the screen stays black?

Anyone have any suggestions what to do? as its just black and I can't see anything to get into the bios or such?

Thanks in advance

Answer:Turn Computer On Screen Is Black After Bios Change?

Try unplugging the PC and removing the CMOS battery from the motherboard for 30-45 minutes. This will clear the BIOS settings.

Hope this helps.

I want to leave my X1 Carbon (5th Gen) running overnight, but I also don't want the room glowing from the screen while I try to sleep. How can I turn off the screen completely? I can only get it to dim to about 10% brightness  but I want the screen completely off while the machine continues to run -- backing up, downloading large files, running long processes, etc. all things that I don't need to be looking at the screen for.  This is my first ThinkPad, and before I had a Macbook Air, which I could turn the screen off completely. Surely there must be a way to do it on the ThinkPad, no?

While using the notebook, I realized there was no more sound so I went to a support site for troubleshooting. I changed the settings and restarted, but there was still no audio coming out. Suddenly the screen went dark and the LEDs on the keyboard dock became illuminated. Then they turned off and the computer has not turned on again. The charging port LED on the keyboard docking station still lights up when plugged in, but not the tablet, even when plugged in directly. No vibration, sound, or any lights when pressing the power button to boot up the tablet. What happened?

I searched on the internet and it is probably a virus caught from a pen drive.

When i try to play World of Warcraft...havent tried other games... but every 10 or so times... on the 10th time i will go to play adn then my monitor just switches off and 30 seconds later the pc restarts...

Ive updated my nvidia drivers..

I have 2 SLI enabled geforce 7900gs with Monitor plugged to the 1st one.

Answer:Screen turn off then 30sec it restarts computer on a Game...

Has this problem just started? Were there any hardware changes made recently that may have caused this? For example, did you just add the other GPU in and then bridge them with the SLI?

I'm wondering if this may be a PSU problem. The PSU may not be powerful enough when the system is loaded up.

Hello, Im new to forums so please bare with me.
My problem started when i dropped my cellphone on my Envy m6 1160la. The screen froze and i started hearing a feint beeping sound. I left it like that for a while, since i could turn the leds on and off. After it failed to work again i turned it off only to turn it back on and be greeted with the same feint beeping sound and no hp logo or loading. After a while the phrase "Checking media" "fail" would come up twice and then a blue box that would say something and then turn off my computer. I changed the HDD and the beeping stopped but the same thing happened. I turned off secure mode but then it said i needed to install an OS and something about 3fo hardrive. I then tested both hardrives and the one that gives me a beeping sound approves the memory test but fails the dst short and long and the smart (dont know what this is), and the one without the beeping approves all. Now after all this I came ro the conclusion that me HDD was bad and that i had to install a new OS on another one (dont know if i was right) but since the HDD that wasnt beeping ran on win 7, I thought if i changed to legacy i would be able to boot up my computer. After i changed it it restarted and i could hear the HDD spinning and the fan and leds would turn on but the screen wouldnt and wont. Any help on my current and previous problem would be much appreciated.

Answer:My computer screen wont turn on after changing BIOS

Likely not completing POST. Clear the CMOS (which will change the BIOS back to default), and try booting again.

First time posting, and not very educated when it comes to computers so bear with me. My screen cracked today on my T430. It still had image on the screen but very distorted. I have a working backup T430. I pulled the screen out of the back up and put in my main comp. My main will boot up (you can even hear the windows jingle but the screen had no power. I then tested both the good screen and cracked screen on the backup T430 and both lit up fine. But neither screen will work on the main T430. i then switched the cable that goes from the motherboard to screen but still same situation, works fine on the back up but not main. I hooked it up to my TV through the HDMI cable and I get the display/homescreen on the TV, and I can use the laptop like that. One thing I did notice is that when I boot the laptop up or shut it down there is a very very very slight change in the screen darkeness. I only notice this because the sun was behind me and shining on the screen. When I noticed this it had the craked screen installed. I tried to adjust the screen brightness with the laptop running but it didnt change anything Do you guys/gurls have any input or solutions? Thanks in advanced

Hello, this is a long story and ill include as much detail so itll be a thorough diagnosis of what is going on with my laptop. So, the problem started early this summer, my computer was doing fine until one day it crashed. The first crashes were green and purple screens, I needed to turn the power off and on to restart it. The weird thing is that it just came out of the blue, there were no weird things going on before that. So after that day the crashes started to come more often. First it was 1 a day apart, then it was 2 days and the more often. It came to the point that every time I played a video game it crashed, but it was fine in the desktop. But then, after some days it started crashing in the desktop. So finally, I sent it off to repairs. It came back and there was only 1 check in the paper that stated what they repaired. It was "Windows Operating System reinstall". When I saw that I was pretty sure the problem was going to come back fairly soon. So, to my surprise, the computer worked fine for 4 days. And then the crashes started coming again. Frustrated (this is my 2nd alienware with problems and the 4 time Ive sent one to repair), I just put the laptop aside into the desktop, it wasnt connected to the power the entire time. So finally, today, I try to see how its doing. I connect the power and I try to turn it on, and its not turning on. Ive tried draining the remaining power by removing the battery and pressing the button. Ive tried turning it on without ... Read more

Answer:First white screen crash and now my computer doesnt turn on

Ordonuk mate hate to be the bearer of bad tidings but I had an individual earlier this week with very similar issues as you but the only difference was it was a new desktop that I had set up for him about six months ago.
The upshot was it would not boot even into safe mode and it was ending up with just a black screen or not turning one whatever I advised him to try and eventually he had to return it to Lenovo and the motherboard was bricked from what we don't know = power surge etc ? Maybe this has happened to your wayward machine?
Having said that I suppose you are getting power at the adaptor??

power light comes on but the screen remains black there is no sound nor any flickers please help operating hp 2000 dual core windows 7 thank you very much!

Answer:turn on the computer and power light goes on but screen remains black

If this is a notebook PC, try connecting an external monitor to the VGA port. If the display comes up on the external monitor, it points to an issue with the screen.

If there is no display on an external monitor connected to a notebook PC, it points to an issue with the motherboard and will require a professional diagnosis.

Hope this helps.

Hi. My HP 15 touch smart notebook crashed a few weeks ago and I just had the computer for less than 6 months and I still have at least 6 more months of warranty on it. But I had accidentally took the battery pack out while putting the computer on charge and I put it back in and tried to turn my computer on, and so far for the last several weeks I couldn't do my school work bc it won't turn on. There is no noise, the fan won't turn, the screen won't display. The only that works is the charging light (orange when its dead and is charging; white when its half charged and is charging). I have tried all methods to get it to turn back on and none have helped me so far. Is the only thing I can do is send it off to be repaired? Or do I need to just buy replacement parts?

Answer:Complete dead computer - no noise, fan whirring, screen turn...

Hello,

I tried searching this and found people with similar problems, but no clear solution. My netbook screen stopped working over the weekend. I'm actually writing this right now on the netbook connected to an external monitor. It came with Windows XP but I upgraded to Windows 7 a few months ago (whenever the RC trial version ran out.)

I don't think I did any Windows Updates or software installs prior to this problem (possibly microsoft security essentials update.) The screen appears to be lighting, but completely black. I checked in the device manager and it claims the generic plug and play monitor that represents the built in screen is operating just fine. I've used the function keys to try to disable and enable the screen, and while connected to the external monitor I've changed resolutions, as well as the behavior between the screens (duplicate, extend, etc) all to no avail. I'm pretty stumped here as to how this happened or what can be done.

Hi guys, I am new here and I have a big problem. I had Iolo system mechanic on my computer, and it made it act wierd like cutting off in the middle of working. So, I uninstalled the program. Now my computer is stuck on a blue screen that says a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down. at the very bottom of the screen it says *** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF88EB528, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
I called Iolo tech support, but they wanted me to pay for them to help me solve a problem their software obviously caused me. All the guy told me was that there are drivers installed with the program that cannot be removed and that may have cause my issue. No help beyond that. I can get into setup by hitting F2, and the F12 boot menu. Nothing beyond that without going to that damn blue screen. I know absolutely nothing about what to do. Can any of you help me out? I do not have anything on this computer that I need to necessarily save, and I heard about reformatting the hard drive but dont know how. This computer is a Dell DE051 and I do not have any disks with it, I bought it on ebay. I am having to borrow a family members computer until I get this fixed. I am just trying to save myself the $75 I will be charged to take it to someone.

Sorry guys i need some help. I was just running a program on harddrive checking where I left it for a few moments and my computer went to Sleep mode. Im using windows 8 btw. So when i clicked the mouse/keyboard in order to make the computer respond, it didn't. So i try to force restart the computer and still nothing appears on my monitor. I panicked and force shut down the power source from the computer itself and left it for few days.when i turned it on again, it doesnt go through the usual start up process instead it immediately go to when I was using the program and with some Blue lines appearing. My computer can still respond but that blue line wont dissapear. only half of my monitor is blue-lined colour.

Answer:Blue computer screen help

First off, completely remove the PC from the power source, don't just turn it off, unplug it (if laptop also remove battery)

Give it 10 minutes and then boot back up. does the POST screen show?

When you post back again please provide us with more info, some idea of configuration would be nice.
Is this a PC or laptop?
If its a PC does it have a graphics card or is it onboard graphics?
Whats the model number?
Have you checked the cable is seated properly at both ends?
