Dell Service Tag removal on a Latitude E7250/7250 (Late 2014)

Question: Dell Service Tag removal on a Latitude E7250/7250 (Late 2014)

Does anyone know of a way or download I can use to remove an existing service tag on a Dell system board? Working on a Dell Latitude E7250.

Your feedback would be much appreciated.

Preferred Solution: Dell Service Tag removal on a Latitude E7250/7250 (Late 2014)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Dell Service Tag removal on a Latitude E7250/7250 (Late 2014)

WHY? The tag is fundamental to getting parts for that system.

Hi,
So I have Dell Latitude e7250 with i7 CPU (5600) and the CPU temperature is reaching 103 C when it's under load.
I did the self test and I got a warning about the temperature out of range issue.
Is it normal for this laptop ? Please note that I'm not getting any auto restart or shutdown, just seeing overheat using HW monitor SW.

Is this something simple to fix or should I just send it in under warranty?  I have taken apart laptops before to replace parts, only hesitant to open it up to prevent voiding it.

Answer:How can I setup my sim card in Dell Latitude e7250?

What model WWAN card is in the system (or, if it doesn't have one, you'll need to purchase one) -- the SIM card is just a subscriber identity card?  It won't work without the wireless card, which in turn must be compatible with both your provider's network and with the operating system you're running.

Hi! :-)
On an A12 BIOS on my E7250, UEFI PXE booting doesn't appear in one-time boot menu and BIOS configuration (of course UEFI Network Stack and NIC w/PXE boot is enabled). After downgrading BIOS to A00, it magically comes back, but after updating back to A12 - it's gone again.
I've also tried A08, no option in here, so it was probably broken before.Legacy NIC boot works nicely and flawlessly.
Are there any Dell guys out here who could forward it to BIOS development team?

Hello, I have a Dell Latitude E7250 that I recently reset it to factory settings. When I tried tuning laptop on afterwards and a screen that pops up that says, "Windows isn't Activated" then when I scroll down and click on the "Activation Details" section it says
Error Code: 0x80072EE7
The serve name or address could not be resolved

The laptopl will not let me go online with WIFI, stating that there ae no Wifi connections available.
Could anyone tell me how I could resolve this without having to connect to WIFI with the laptop?
Please and Thanks!

Answer:Latitude E7250 Windows Activation Help

Did you do a factory recovery, or  a reinstallation of Windows?  If the latter, where did the copy of Windows come from?  What version (7, 8 or 10)?

Hello,
I have a Latitude E7250 with a contactless smartcard/NFC reader. I have following questions:
1) Is it true that there is no longer ControlVault software for managing certificates under Windows 10, and everything is handled by native windows options?
2) What chipset is that?
3) What exact options are enabled? To be more specific, is *contactless smartcard* actually enabled? When I touch my Yubikey NEO to palmrest, it seems to read NFC tag. How can I switch to contactless smartcard functionality?

I have a fairly new laptop and the cover is peeling from the casing.  Is this covered by the warranty as I would have thought this should not be happening so soon.  The service tag is CJY4J72 and the laptop is less than a year old.

Thank you

Answer:Latitude E7250 Plastic cover peeling

Your images are not linked -- but you should call Dell support to see what they say.
If it's cosmetic damage, they won't cover it -- if it's a manufacturing defect, they should.

My laptop screen spontaneously is displaying a thin horizontal black line in the middle of it - it shows up both on the laptop and on an external monitor. It's not there at first boot-up but is displaying when Windows 7 starts up.  This is my work computer and the local IT guy has done some diagnostics but isn't sure what to do next.  Have only had this computer since last May, hasn't been dropped or damaged. The line is getting very annoying - what can be done?

Answer:Latitude E7250 horizontal black line on screen

Hi sibehusky,
Thank you for writing to Dell Community Forum.
Please check in BIOS and also in the below steps if the line is seen:
Press and hold the D key on the keyboard while pressing the Power button, then release both at the same time.
This will initiate A grey screen, then Red, then Blue, then Green then White, to allow you to inspect the entire LCD
Please click my DELL-username and send me a Private Message with the Dell Service Tag number and your email address.
Note: please don't mention the service tag or email id on the public forum as it contains your personal information

Me and 2 co-workers got new computers, E7250.
Together with the E-Port Plus II docking station. (PR02X)
Problem is that one of the external monitors keeps flickering to black, as if loss of signal after a while.
Docking out and in again solves it, or removing the DVI-cable and putting it in again.I run 3 external monitors + internal.
Co-workers runs 3 external only.Same on all, one of the external monitors flickers.I have the latest BIOS, latest driver for GPU and Chipset. This does not help.Any suggestions?

I'm trying to reinstall windows 7 64bit off the Dell CD. I have an external DVD drive plugged in as this laptop doesn't come with a drive.
I get part way through and it asks for drivers for the CD/DVD drive - but there are none..
After 12 hours of googling I've found Windows 7 installation media does not have support for USB3 ports - this laptop only ahs USB3.. How the *** do I get around this?
"Windows 7 install media doesn’t have native support for USB3.0"
I've downloaded the Dell 7250 CAB and extracted it to the C Drive of the laptop I'm trying to re-install to, and when it scans for suitable drivers, it doesn't find anything compatible to allow the DVD drive to be seen.
What do I do? How do I get the laptop to recognize the external drive?
Thanks

Hi everybody!
I live in Spain and I've seen that the Surface 2 is relatively cheap compared to a few months ago and I was willing to purchase it.
I'm a student and having Office 2013 built-in right out of the box is really nice but I was wondering if you guys would buy it being almost 2015 and with Windows 10 coming late next year.
And, before you say, I don't have enough money for a Surface Pro 3 or similar things.
So, would you buy it and if someone has it, can you tell me your experience with it?
Thanks :3

Answer:Would you buy a Surface 2 now? (Late December 2014)

Sure I would. I am rocking a surface pro( the first one) and aside from the battery life I am happy. I gave my pro 3 to my boyfriend and I am content. Surface 2, if it fits your needs and budget is an awesome device imo and if I wanted an rt device then sure id go for it.
See if you can find the original surface pro though as they may be around the same price.

Hello,
I'm pretty sure I've discovered a bug after a graphics driver update last week. I can duplicate the problem using the following scenario:
Latitude E7250 with Intel 5500 graphics, Dell simple port replicator docking station. Any monitor, plugged into DisplayPort on dock. Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. Intel graphics driver 20.19.15.4377-A03 downloaded from the Dell drivers and support page (filename Video_Driver_49H49_WN32_20.19.15.4377_A03.EXE).
Laptop running in dock with lid closed, external display only. Remove laptop from Docking station, open lid, use laptop. Close lid, wait for laptop to sleep. Put laptop in dock, leave lid closed, press power button on dock to wake laptop. Monitor turns on with black screen and a mouse. The mouse appears to be able to move off the lefthand side of the screen, you can move it off a distance and it takes a little while to return to the screen when you move the mouse back to the right. ie it seems like the laptop thinks the monitor has a display arrangment with this black screen on the far right, although it's the only monitor.
At this point there are a couple of ways you can get the external display back to normal. 1) open the lid, the system returns to mirrored or extended display as expected, close the lid, re-wake laptop with the power button on the dock and it comes up on the external monitor normally. Or, 2) power off the monitor, wait a few seconds, power the monitor back on - it seems to detect displays and retu... Read more

So, I've been trying to get all of the machines in our organization up-to-speed on the latest standards.  I figured that, as long as anyone is getting any NEW machine imaged and set up for them, that machine might as well be set up in UEFI mode, with GPT partitioning, as those are the latest standards for PCs.
We have a lot of Dell machines, and I have had no problem getting tons of them booting to my Windows 7 Professional installation USB drives, in UEFI mode, and installing a build of Windows in UEFI mode, using GPT partitioning for the drive.  E6320s, E6430s, E6440s, all work fine.
The Latitude E7250 doesn't even detect the USB drive that I plug into it, that has worked flawlessly for so many other machines.  I have the latest BIOS (A13).  Secure Boot is disabled.  I have tried plugging in the USB drive in a USB 2.0 port on the E-Port Plus docking station.  I have disabled USB 3.0.
The machine does not detect USB devices in UEFI mode.
This is a laptop that costs north of $1,000, Dell.  For real?

Answer:Latitude E7250 - doesn't detect my Windows 7 Professional USB reinstallation drive in UEFI mode

This is not Dell's doing - it's Microsoft and Intel at work.  They removed the ability to boot Skylake-based systems from USB to install WIndows 7:
wccftech.com/.../
While you can find ways around it (see below), whatever reasons you have for running Windows 7 should be very seriously rethought now -- the Skylake platform is the very last Intel platform that will run 7 -- the soon to be released 7th generation (Kaby Lake) CPUs will not run Windows 7 at all.

I have a Dell Latitude D630 and the motherboard died, It's out of warrenty so I bought a Motherboard on ebay. The Bios Service Tag does not match the number on the bottom so I would like to chage it to the correct one. How can I do this?

I read about a DST CD = Dell Service Technician CD that has this option but I can't find one.

It's not a real important thing but when I use the Dell System ID application it reads the Bios Service tag and not the real system tag that Is registered to me.

Dear Community,
Do you guy knew if Dell E7250 is able to install ADDITIONAL ssd in M.2 Expansion Slots?
In the specification it's show there are free M.2 slot for WWAN or SSD.

If it's support what SSD M.2 model should i but 2242?

Answer:Dell E7250 SSD Expansion Slot

The additional slot referenced is in the E-dock expansion adapter - NOT the system.  The system takes only one internal M.2 drive.
If you have (or purchase) the E-dock port adapter, you'll have the additional M.2 slot.

So I downloaded the image from Dells site and put it on a USB and booted from it. My SSD does show up, but it gives me an error when I try to install it on a partition. I forgot the exact error, but it says something about checking the log which I also can't find. I even tried deleting the partition and installing it on the volume it shows and even tried creating a new one. None of it worked.

Basically I took out the old SSD (I think its an M2 SSD) and put in a larger one and just want to put Windows on it again.

Hi,
Hopefully someone can help with the problem we have.  We have purchased several E7250 and E7450 laptops, which we've managed to configure with our corporate image but, when applying McAfee Endpoint Encryption v5.2.12, the following reboot reports an error at startup
"Error: 0xe002001b
No Boot disk was found"
We've applied this version of EEPC to all our previous Latitude models without issue, it's just this new model range.
We've tried imaging using AHCI and RAID, other don't change the outcome.

If anyone has an answer to this, we'd be most grateful.
TIA

Hi I was wondering if someone can help.
I have a dell d410 with the service tag ending in -595B.
I tried using password.exe but it would not work, their's an administrative password on the computer(bios password) so I can't change any of the reboot settings, I'm completely locked out. I've tried everything.
I'm thinking about short circuiting the eeprom chip on the dell, or replacing the eeprom chip. I really don't know which one is best, or if someone has a password generator or some back door password, or even some technique that has worked. Can someone offer me advice????
Because I read somewhere that when you replace the eeprom chip on dell latitude's when you boot the computer with the new chip the computer explodes, that's suppose to happen because of some type of security measure, Dell has incase labtops are stolen.

i got this info here GPU Temperature 103C on Latitude E6420 - General Hardware - Laptop - Dell Community

Answer:Dell latitude e6430 and dell latitude e6420

Joseph mate best leave as is after all it was made to function as it came. Now for the compound and copper shim personally I would not bother with the copper shim I can see no good reason for it the dual pipe again if it was made to work with one pipe then leave alone.

It is better if you renew the compound using a decent cleaner and compound and I can recommend these for that job

Arctic Silver Incorporated - ArctiClean for thorough cleaning and preparation and Arctic Silver Incorporated - Arctic Silver 5 for the compound.

Now it depends on who you listen to but I always use these products and after the old compound is thoroughly cleaned off and the surfaces prepped I spread the compound very thinly and across the both entire surface of the CPU and the heatsink with my finger inside a vinyl or latex glove and then place a rice grain sized piece of compound on the CPU and replace the heatsink. If you touch the surfaces after clean and prep then redo it.

While you are in there do make sure the fan and the radiator are really spotless and I sometimes relube the fan bearings to make sure the fan is running at full tilt when needed.

Hello!
We have during the last autumn bought 3 Dell Latitude 7275 2in1  which comes with the "Dell Latitude 12 Premier Keyboard"
On all of these we experience a very annoying issue.
When connected to the keyboard it behaves very unstable and frequently looses contact with the 7275 just by a light touch and does not work at all, the users have to be very picky in which angle they have the 7275 connected and use it for the keyboard to work at all.
We have spoken to Dell support last week and they say the are not aware of this at all.
We can´t believe this is "by design" and thus we wonder if anyone else have the same issues here ?
And if so have managed to solve it somehow and can share the solution.

I wouldn't say it's impossible but do consider it very unlikely that Digital River, who run the UK Lenovo web shop, or a UK retailer would send out a UK system without a UK power cord / plug.  Can you post where you purchased the system from and also post the part number (system order number) you ordered.

I have a Dell XPS 12, purchased 2012, My region is Australia.
I was using my laptop last night when an air bubble appeared in the bottom left corner of the screen. The laptop has not been subjected to any 'trauma' or damage in its lifetime (it hasn't ever been dropped), so there's no external damage to the screen. It doesn't protrude from the surface of the screen. It's just an internal bubble that appeared. It doesn't disrupt the picture. The touch screen still functions in that area. It's about the size of the windows icon that it covers (less than an AUD 5c piece).
The warranty has expired (Dec 2014) but I'd be keen to get it repaired.

Answer:Air Bubble Appeared in Dell XPS 12 (late 2012)

Hello dear,
Post is old though, but I like to tell you that I have that laptop I think which you owned once.
I got this laptop from importer here in Pakistan who imports goods from Australia.
When I bought the laptop, bubble was at same right position and size. Well now it is travelling forward :-p
And now when I start searching solution online, I found only your post :-)

Apple has finally accepted that there is a malware problem affecting many of its customers and plans to stop it with an upcoming system update.

The problems began earlier this month with a black hat search engine optimization campaign launched by scareware distributors on Google Images.

Such campaigns are common and one can pretty much expect to find rogue links among the top search results for all hot topics at any given time.

However, this time it was different because the cyber crooks also targeted Mac OS X users via a piece of scareware called Mac Defender that was specifically designed for Apple's platform.

Scareware, or rogueware, are terms that refer to fake applications that trick victims into paying for licenses in order to fix fictitious problems on their computer, usually malware infections.

Ironically, for a user base that largely doesn't trust antivirus programs and believes that Macs are malware-free, a lot of people ended up installing Mac Defender.

By extrapolating from tech support call figures related to this issue, ZDNet recently estimated that between 60,000 and 125,000 Mac users were affected by this piece of scareware.

What's worse, Apple apparently prevented its tech support operators from telling users how to remove the malicious program on their own.

However, after the issue got significant press coverage Apple published a knowledge base article of its own, which includes manual removal instructions.

The company makes some mist... Read more

I'm running Windows XP x64 SP2, and things have been running swimmingly up until recently when I decided to update my Avast installation to the 2014 version. The background service for it refuses to start due to a service dependency. A while back I disabled a bunch of services with the aid of these configs from BlackViper to increase performance and decrease resource usage. I also made a few tweaks of my own that weren't in the guide. Anyway, the point is, I disabled some service that Avast 2014 requires, and I need to figure out which one it is so I can re-enable it. I even set all of my disabled services to "manual" in the hopes that the service I needed would be triggered by the Avast service, but this was to no avail.
Anyhow, here's my list of services. I hope the editing on it is alright, since I had to realign and clean up some of the text.

Before starting digging through each of these services. . . have you tried removing Avast and reinstalling it? If the service in question is installed by Avast, that should fix the problem.EDIT: Actually, a question I should have asked first. What error message do you get that tells you that a service dependency is preventing Avast from starting? (Exact text please).

I have used your very help full guide on how to remove this mal ware and I find it has worked. My concern is Malware bytes is still finding file remains on every scan about 67. Rkill is saying that I am not infected but I would care to remove these nagging Files or should I be concerned? Help would be  appreciated. Thanks

Answer:My Safe PC 2014 removal Guide

Hello ,
My concern is Malware bytes is still finding file remains on every scan about 67
Note - If not installed, please follow these directions -
Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.
Double-click on the setup file (mbam-setup.exe) to install, then follow These instructions for doing a THREAT SCAN in normal mode.
Don't forget to check for database definition updates through the program's interface (preferable method) before scanning.
If you cannot update Malwarebytes or use the Internet to download any files to the infected computer, manually update the database by following the instructions in FAQ Section A.4. Issues.
Malwarebytes may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you.
Temporarily Disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.
After the scan, make sure that everything is checked and then click the "Remove Selected" button to remove all the listed malware.
After rebooting the computer, copy and post the mbam.log in your next reply.
If Malwarebytes encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally will prevent Malwarebytes from removing all the malware.

When I boot this laptop it tries to do an automatic start up repair but I never get into Windows. I have tried booting and pressing F8 and Shift and F8 to try to get to the part where I can do a factory restore with no success. It has Windows 8 installed on it. So I recently bought a Dell XPS 15 9530 and well I wanted to see how it would do in gaming. It was doing well in most games until one day, I started getting fps drops that lasted a long time. The FPS would go from whatever it started with, an example being Watch Dogs with 50 fps on low settings, to 9 fps. Another example is CS:GO where I get 60 fps on highest settings, I cap it at 60, but after a few rounds it goes down to 15 fps. So I got NVIDIA Inspector to see what was wrong as many had said it was the GPU throttling and the clocks were 135 MHz for the GPU Clock and 405 MHz for the Memory Clock instead of the default 941 MHz for GPU and 2500 MHz for Memory. The temperature was around 75 degrees celsius at most so I don't think that is the problem. It is plugged into wall while playing and I have most programs closed down when playing.
EDIT:
Also, I have my power plan set to 'High Performance'. The FPS drop does not last forever but lasts about 10-15 minutes and can either be resolved by restarting my laptop or, if I am lucky, restarting the game. It is quite annoying and I have been testing everything for about 2 weeks. I have tried re-installing BIOS, clean installation of drivers, used different programs like ThrottleStop, tried lowering the settings and none of these have worked.

There are some old posts out there that consider the options for GPU upgrades on a Dell Inspiron 620 (Tower not slimline) given it's minimally spec'd PSU.
There seems to be a number of relatively recent NVidia cards marketed as low power, that rely solely on the PCI slot and do not have the extra 6 pin power source. Subject to size/space in the PC, and dual slow (one for venting) and the layout of the Inspiron internally, has anyone any experience successfully working with more recent cards, such as the low power GTX 750, 950 and even 1050.
My instinct says that there must be a problem, but if there is I'd like to understand exactly what. If it is worth a shot, I'd take a gamble as I've other machines that I know could handle one. Finally, if anyone is aware of more recent lower power Radeon graphic cards, I'd be happy to take advice on those.
For completeness, the current spec of the Inspiron is i5-2400, with 8GB memory, standard disk HD and that's about all.

Hi,
Greetings!
I would like to ask for your assistance because I'm already out of ideas how to resolve this issue. Right after I powered up the laptop, it will get past the DELL logo screen, then it will be completely just black screen. I wouldn't even hear any activity from the CPU fan, HDD and pressing the Caps Lock doesn't lit up the LED. The LED indicators on the side are only displaying the power indicator, but none for HDD, Battery and Wireless.
Here are the steps that I have done so far:
1) Removed the HDD and Battery, then press & hold the power button for at least 45-60 seconds to disperse the internal voltage. Then attach the Battery, but not the HDD.
2) Press and hold Fn and then the Power button, hoping to boot me up to the ePSA Diagnostic Utility
3) Press F2 or F12 while booting up
4) Re-seat the memory and also clean with a dry tissue
These are the procedures that I have done but nothing has changed. It still displays blank screen right after the DELL logo.
I do hope that you could assist me on this. Thank you so much!

I installed Windows 7 64-bit on my Latitude E6400. I cannot seem to find any way to install Dell Control Point. I got the Driver Pack to install. I found one download of Security Manager that worked, but I would like the Power Manager one.

I've looked on this forum a few times and any links I click on just redirect me to the Drivers and Downloads page. I get errors saying that my service pack is not supported.....I'm on Windows 7 Service Pack 1. I also got some 32-bit errors, but that's my fault for downloading the 32-bit version.

Does anybody have a link to the full Dell Control Point package (Power Manager, Connection Manager, Security Manager) that will work on 64-bit Windows 7?

Thanks

for the basics and schoolwork
and which is newer

Answer:which is better dell latitude e5440 or dell latiude e6430

The E6430 has a metal case and is more robust, but uses an older CPU and chipset.
The E5440 is a plainer chassis with a newer generation CPU and chipset.
The E6440 is the concurrent update to the E5440.
There are too many possible configurations to definitively say which is better -- it depends on the CPU, GPU, etc. in the specific model (or that you choose when you order one, but since the E6430 isn't a current model,  you may be looking at used systems).

Hi james.hilham,

I would like to look into this further, can you Private Message me your Service Tag on the system? Also, it sounds like you might have seen the Diagnostic Boot Screen, but can you try these steps below to see if it gets any further:

1. Disconnect the AC adapter from the system and remove the system battery.2. Hold down the Power button for approximately 10 seconds to drain any residual power and then release the power button3. Hold the power button down once more while inserting the AC adapter into the system. This will initiate the Forced ePSA which may clear the state causing the system to remain at the Dell splash screen.4. Release the power button once you see any text on the display or the Dell splash screen\5. The Dell ePSA (Pre-boot System Assessment) diagnostic page will next appear6. If the ePSA page does not appear then the recovery method was not effective.7. Should ePSA initiate allow it to complete the quick test to determine if any component failures exist.8. Should the system recover from the condition and boot into the operating system, it is very important to update the system BIOS immediately after the system has recovered to prevent a reoccurrence.

Okay, carrying around my Dell Precision M4700 is definitely NOT fun.
I am considering getting Windows tablet for doing basic document / web surfing work with a keyboard attachment.
I was looking at Dell Latitude 10 vs Dell Venue 11 Pro mainly for their user replaceable batteries (especially the Latitude 10 with its ability to have a 4 cell battery in the back!)
Battery life was the most important consideration. And I know how important it is to have a device with replaceable battery from my experiences (so definitely won't be getting a Surface, sorry)
It seems that these two Dell tablets are very similarly spec'd except the Venue 11 has a screen that is .7 inch bigger, which is not a big deal to me. I would be getting both with the Intel Atom processor, since I will be using my Precision for anything intense.
The Venue 11 Pro can be had from Microsoftstore Canada for around $600, while I can find a Dell certified refurbished Latitude 10 tablet from Ebay for about $400.Buy Dell Venue 11 Pro Tablet - Microsoft Store Canada Online Store
The spec seems pretty similar, but I do like the fact that I can add a 4 cell battery in the Latitude for the total battery life of 17 hours, which is why I am leaning towards the Latitude.
To summarize my questions
1) Do you own either of these devices? Could you let me know what you like and do not like about your Dell tablet? How are the keyboard options on both?
2) Do you have any experiences with Dell certified refurbished tablets? The one... Read more

Answer:Dell Latitude 10 Tablet vs Dell Venue 11 Pro

I have never handled a Latitude 10 and my experience with the Venue's is limited to owning the 8 and handling the 11 for about a total of 30 minutes.
Do know that the latest generation of Atom is a major improvement over previous iterations, as least, thats what I have been led to believe.
For basic (or even normal) use, both should suffice, but I'd go for the 11 Pro if performance is on your mind.
The Core i3/5 versions are faster, run hotter (use fans) and probably use more power I believe.

Hi all,
My OS is Windows 10
i've loaded the Bios-Upgrade File "E5510A11.EXE" but it decides to exit with the message
"You must upgrade to A10 before flashing to this BIOS"
I think, I need to upgrade the BIOS to Version A10 first, but I can't find a file to do that...
Any ideas?

Best Regards
VV Rao

Answer:LATITUDE E5410 - The Audio Service Not Running

I'd suggest you wait later to update latest BIOS version on the system. Furthermore, updating the BIOS might not resolve the Audio problem in windows 10. Please, keep in mind, Dell doesn't list any windows 10 drivers for your system. Click on link below and see for yourself.

I am having this problem that the bottom of the screen keeps flashing and there are several obvious light lines across the screen when under grey background. However, it seems to be fine under other colors (in boot screen check it's also fine). Here're some photos for the light lines. As for the flashing problem I cannot capture any photos. (Photos are captured by NIKON D7000 DSLR)

I purchased this Precision M3800 model with 4K touchscreen last April. And this problem repeatedly appears several times. And I have replaced the screen twice before this one.
I have done my research online. It says it's either the screen has something wrong or the wires are loose. I don't think my normal everyday use should make such damage to SEVERAL SCREENS. I use this mobile workstation for some design work at school. Software I use is mainly Photoshop, Illustrator, Rhino Modeling & Keyshot rendering.
Can anyone help me with this?

Hoping to get some help/answers.
Just purchased the above laptop in the subject line, believing it to have a 'backlit keyboard', when what I was reading actually said 'backlit Display'.
We really want a laptop with the backlit keyboard.  Can I purchase and install a Dell backlit keyboard for this laptop, and actually have it work once installed?
Our only other option is to return the laptop and purchase a different one with that feature, but we got a great price on this one, and I have researched keyboard prices and they are not that expensive.
ANY and ALL help is appreciated.  Thank You...

I got a Dell Inspiron 1545 here and I want to check the system specifications on the Dell site. I always use the Service Tag for Dell systems but this tag isn't recognized.. Even the Express Service Code isn't recognized. I tried to contact through the Chat but it's getting closed everytime because I can only access the Chat for Sales Advisor. All other options for chat or e-mail are all dependent of my Service Tag. Can you please help me to figure out why it isn't working and what the system specifications are according to your system?
I can't post my Service Tag or Express Service Code here due to your rules so please contact me.

And sorry to say but it's a real annoying system that I can't send a mail without a working Service Tag. I've been looking for over an hour and there is no possibility to contact you without a service tag. The only possible way I found was chatting with the Sales Advisor but they closed the chat twice because I should contact the Technical Support.... really.... ..... .....

Answer:Service Tag and Express Service Code wont work (Dell Inspiron 1545)

Hi Mark,Welcome to the Dell Community Forum. Please check for your system Service Tag on BIOS screen, make a note of the Service Tag and check for the warranty details on Dell's support site here http://dell.to/1hcxG98.Hope this helped.

! I purchased a Dell 5759 just a few months ago from Amazon. Since its purchase, the battery randomly cuts out at intervals of every few to several days with no triggering events.  I attempted to seek help a few times but apparently my service tag and express service code cannot be recognized by the system.  I've tried calling the Inpsiron help number, but for better or worse, the call is disconnected when my numbers cannot be recognized.
Now I get a Dell Power Management error that the system can no longer communicate with my battery.  It has ceased functioning en toto.  Without being able to register, I cannot get help for this issue, but when I go to email any kind of technical support, the Service Tag or Service Code are the gateway to having access to submitting a ticket.
I'm not sure what else to do at this point. This is a perfectly fine otherwise smooth running computer but I need the battery to work and not cut out at random intervals.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi,

I Purchased this Laptop few years back. Now it stopped working suddenly. Am in India right now but when i consulted the Dell Exclusive store here they say its not repairable. Kindly suggest. I never fell down nor got damaged by any external source. I wanted to get it repaired or may be send it back to recycling if possible.

Answer:Service Tag <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy> || DELL Inspiron 14z 5423 || Laptop Dead

We cannot assist without knowing  why the shop said it's not repairable.
How old is "a few years"?  Any system more than three years old likely isn't worth a major repair such as a replacement system board -- even if a board is available.

This is a low-end system -- if it requires a mainboard change, it's likely not worth the repair, as the shop has told you.

No matter what I do I cannot wake the laptop display after the PC goes to sleep. The rest of te laptop appears to be functioning properly and fan starts, lights go on etc but no video. I have the latest drivers through he Dell site and ran a diagnostic which showed no problems. Changed all options on the power section in control panel related to when and how long the laptop sleeps but that doesn't seem to make a difference. Now just turning it off when I'm done but it sure would be nice just to be able to wake it up. It's running Windows 7 64 bit. The first month I had it it worked just fine and woke up with no problems but not now. I'm a 2nd owner.

Answer:Video won't wake up on Dell Precision M6600 Service Tag: <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>

I have an Inspiron 3250 desktop that has a similar problem. The video works fine as long as the system doesn't go to sleep. When it wakes up the display is trashed. It started happening fairly recently.  It has integrated (Intel) graphics. A temporary fix is to never let the machine sleep. (Yes this will cost you on your electric bill!)  I suspect it can be fixed with a driver update but supposedly I have the latest. I'm going to post to Intel support too.

When I try enter my Service Tag or my Express Service Code on the dell's support website page and trying to view my warranty for my laptop, a message pop up saying
"There’s no match for that Service Tag or Express Service Code. Retype the code and try again. Allow 48 hours for new devices to register on our site"
and
"There is no match for that Service Tag or product ID. Please try again, auto-detect or choose from all products.''
I even tried to use the ''detect product' bottom, still got the same results. Keep in mind brought a Dell XPS15 9650 about 2-3 weeks ago.
Please help, I really need to talk to them because whenever I turn on my laptop, i can hear this very load high pitch noise coming from my laptop, and it is very annoying. I believe it called a "coil whine", I'm not mistaken. Thanks

Answer:My Service Tag and Express Service Code are not registered on Dell's website? and a high pitch ringing sound from the laptop?

Hi there,

I've spent hours reading through this forum for solutions on how to remove the admin password on a C820, I've seen that certain members have generators, and also that a short to an EEPROM would clear it, but I can't find information on where this chip is located and what pins to short, but I'd prefer the safer way :"Generated code"

It on of the much hated 595B service tags

Service tag #HKVKL0J-595B

If anybody can help, I'd really appreciate it.

Question: dell latitude cpi

I stumbled across your site and noticed a thread where you helped out a non-techie like me and I thought I would register and give it a shot. My daughter asked me to fix her Dell Latitude cpi which she uses for her college work. That was the easy bit it was a dodgy on/off button. Then she asked me to get it connected to the internet through her cable modem. I thought that would be easy too but I have spent hours on the internet trying to find what sort of adapter is needed because there is no direct socket connection to fit the modem. I would be eternally grateful for any help you can offer and it would make me look good in my daughter's eyes.

Ok, so here's the problem.

I have a Dell Latitude CPx J65OGT BIOS Revision A08.
I also have the Windows XP Pro Reinstallation CD with Service Pack 2.

The original problem was upon bootup the computer gave a STOP error:
***STOP:0x000000A5 (0x00000002, 0x81BD9810, 0xE104B780, 0x81BB0AD8)

I tried booting from the Reinstallation CD and this is what happens:

At Windows Setup it gives me -artition [Unknown] 9856MB(9585MB Free)

It gives me the following options, and I have provided the information on what happens when I try each of them:

Create Partition, C - Nothing Happens

Enter, Run Setup - An error has occured while Setup was updating partition information on: 9586 MB Disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 on atapi [MBR] Setup cannot continue. (Then the computer restarts)

Delete Partition, D - The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your system vendor or visit http://www.hardware-update.com for an updated BIOS. If you are unable to obtain an updated BIOS of the latest BIOS supplied by your vendor is not ACPI compliant, you can turn off ACPI mode during text mode setup. To do this, simply press the F7 key when you are prompted to install storage drivers. The system will not notify you that the F7 key was pressed - it will silently disable ACPI and allow you to continue your installation.

Recovery Console does not work either.

What I gather from this is that the partition is not assigned a prompt (For example, C and I cannot figure out how to give it on... Read more

Question: Dell Latitude CPx

Hi, I have just brought a Dell Latitude CPx back from the dead and it is working wonderfully apart from the fact that the Function (FN) keys don't 'function'.
Any ideas please?

Answer:Dell Latitude CPx

Humm... old.

When you say you brought it back from the dead, how so? Did you have a Dell recovery disk, or did you install an OS from a box into it? Was the keyboard okay before hand, or was it part of the reason for it being DOA originally?

The CPx series were one of those 'semi'-Dell machines, since the same notebook could be purchased in a number of liveries, including HP and Gateway (your machine looks exactly like my Solo 1400). If you loaded an operating system into it that wasn't from a recovery disk, then you probably need to download the drivers from the Dell website into it. Otherwise, the keyboad may be out of sorts, and may need replacing.

If you can find the service tag number (on Dell laptops, they tend to be on a thin white label and are only 6 to 8 digits long), you can punch it in here (http://support.dell.com/support/top...y_systems_info/details?c=us&l=en&s=gen&~tab=2) to find out what was on this beastie originally, and what can be downloaded to it.

Hi everyone,

This is a long shot ... I've got a machine from about 1998 here and am hoping someone might be able to remember something about them. It's small, black and very chunky - the Dell Latitude XPi CD ( 166mhz! ). I needed something with windows 98 so I 'upgraded' the drive from 2 gb. to a Samsung HM100JC ( 100 gb. ) Basically I've got some games that don't work with compatibility in XP at all ...

All fine and dandy with swapping the hard drive, but the underneath of the machine gets universally hot as hell! I don't seem to be able to detect a fan, much less any cooling vents. Would I be right in thinking that it was fine with the 2 gb, and it needed neither a fan or cooling vents, but that my latter day 100 gb. drive runs that much hotter? I actually love this laptop, but want to 'waste' neither it or the drive, so any suggestions much welcome!

I've tried the Dell site but the documentation I found wasn't hugely informative about the specific problems I'm having ( though to their credit, all of the setup files were there for download ).

Many thanks,

Tony

Answer:Old Dell Latitude XPi - very hot

If your new hard drive is higher RPM than the old drive, then that would explain the heat. Your old drive was probably 4500 RPM, and the new one 5400 or 7200. If that is true, there's not much you can do about it short of buying a new drive.

Thats a normal problem for those keyboards. You could probably have gotten those keys working again by reseating the cable from the motherboard to the keyboard. Now it sounds like you need a new keyboard. You can probably get one from Dell or possibly find a used one from ebay. Replacements can also be found online like this.
