I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi

I have a HP Compaq 6510b laptop with Windows XP Professional. I have started getting the dreaded BSOD immediately as Windows starts up, with the error message mentioned above. Also the following error message further down the screen:-

** STOP 0x00000005 (0x83D52020, 0x86FC43E0, 0x00000001, 0x83AFA020)

Initially the laptop would only flash the BSOD up for a second or two then restart, until I turned off the auto restart on failure.

I've trawled though this forum and done lots of Google searches but cannot seem to find the answer. I'm aware this can be some sort of hardware related problem however I have not downloaded/installed any new hardware or software in the last few weeks. I recently changed from McAfee to Norton security but that was several weeks ago.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Alex

Answer:BSOD & error message 'INVALID_PROCESS_ATTACH_ATTEMPT

Hi

Can you boot the laptop to safe mode ? . If yes, please follow the below instructions.

1 ) Open C:\Windows\Minidump folder and look if there are any files with .dmp extension. Either copy all of them or zip the "Minidump" folder and upload it to a free file sharing site. For example http://www.mediafire.com/

Analyzing those files are necessary to get a basic idea about what is wrong with the system.

2 ) Download MinitoolBox from http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/minitoolbox/

Run the tool and select only the following items.

-List last 10 event viewer errors

     -List installed programs

     -List minidumps

-List users, partition and memory size.

Click GO and post the details in next reply.

Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone might be able to shed some light on why I am getting the following such errors when running a robocopy batch file (as administrator) which cause the backup script to stall (- albeit temporarily):

Quote:
2013/07/30 21:10:43 ERROR 5 (0x00000005) Copying File C:\Users\Tim\My Documents\Harey 8-128.jpg
Access is denied.

2013/07/30 21:15:27 ERROR 5 (0x00000005) Copying File C:\Users\Tim\My Documents\TimsData\Tim\Heddon's Mouth - Printable Walk - South West Coast Path.htm
Access is denied.

Waiting 30 seconds... Retrying...

I am using the following backup command:

Code:
robocopy "%srcPath%\My Documents" "%dstPath%\My Documents" /b /v /ts /fp /bytes /tee /e /dcopy:t /copy:dt /a-:sh /xf desktop.* /np /log+:%logPath%\mwk1log.txt
I realise that if I limit the retries and wait time from the defaults the stall time will be shortened and the file(s) skipped. However, that does not resolve the issue why robocopy is having a problem copying the file(s).

I have found that if the erroring files are moved from the source location to the desktop, the following errors arethen recorded in the log:

Answer:Robocopy Backup - ERROR 5 (0x00000005)

Hi,

I have seen instances of a bug with the dcopy:t switch - try the script without that switch. You could also try the COPY:DATSOU switch, although I'm unclear if that copies the folder time stamps too.

Code:
robocopy "%srcPath%\My Documents" "%dstPath%\My Documents" /b /v /ts /fp /bytes /tee /e /copy:dt /a-:sh /xf desktop.* /np /log+:%logPath%\mwk1log.txt

I'm trying to robocopy a large folder from the command line (run as Administrator) and on certain files I get an error 5 "Access Denied." Looking at the files' security reveals that the only user with access is a garbled, nonsensical user name as seen here:

I tried using the takeown command to take ownership from the command line but this had no effect. I tried deleting this user but it tells me that the permissions are inherited (even though the folder in which the file exists does not have this garbled user) Is there another command I can use to fix this? I have several hundred files in this folder with the same problem.

Answer:Robocopy ERROR 5 (0x00000005) and Corrupted User Permissions

I figured out the solution. I ran these commands on the directories:

Code:
takeown.exe /F * /A /R /D Y
icacls.exe * /grant Everyone:(F) /grant Guests:(F) /grant Users:(F) /T /C /Q

Hi there,
Storage pool with two storage spaces created using Windows 8 Release Preview and then ported into Windows 8 RTM. I'm now trying to delete one of the storages spaces and getting this access is denied error message.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Answer:Unable to delete Storage Space "Access is Denied" 0x00000005

I solved the problem for me.
Again... No file lock on the storage pool and no application is doing anything with this virtual disk. But it's not possible to remove it from storage spaces. This has nothing to do with ownership of the drive, access rights or an access of a process. I
had a clean windows setup with no programs installed. I'd say that this is a bug of windows!

Anyway here is my solution:
* Opened an explorer with "Computer" open.
* Opened "computer managment" and selected the storage list.
* I selected the storage pool which I wanted to delete but wasn't able to.
* Right click -> format... I think I have chosen NTFS but it's not so important...
* Warning that the drive is in use (what a nonsense) -> yes yes ok
* waited a few seconds until the bar with the free space disappeared at the "Computer" folder for this drive (on the explorer).
* stopped the format process. some error msgs that this couldn't be canceled and then he said he couldn't finish... (wtf ;))
* then back to the storage spaces overview... manage storage spaces... delete storage pool... pool disappeared... finish

hope this helps someone

Hello World,

My Sister has kids who are using computer continuously doing nonsense and not school works. She always been talking to them about the important of school and they don't listen, the warning letter is almost to half the the garbage bin if they have been kept.

We just been discussing "what action should be taken?" I have told her we may install some software like parental control of Windows Vista. because the parental control in not in Windows XP, I am here asking you to tell me "where to get the free/cheaper software that can do they followings:

Limit the hours of using computer.
Automatically computer log off after hours.
Setup the days to use computer.
Block specific website
Stop them from playing games from the internet/computer too
Stop each user from downloading as set up by Admin.
And all those that Admin (parent) can do to prevent the kids from.

To the online games, the bill for the internet is too high because of online playing, watching movies, surfing the web each after each (children).

Mum of the Kids is desperately waiting for your help.
Any help would be grateful and appreciate.
Thanks you

Hello!

I am trying to troubleshoot a computer on my work network. I read through many of the guides and forums concerning these issues but cannot seem to resolve. Will start at beginning.

One of the PCs won't boot in any mode, safe mode, restore system to previous state, or normally. It gives the following message : STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file):\systemroot\system32\config\SOFTWARE or its log or alternate. From what I have been reading the way to solve this is to use an xp cd and run recovery console. Unfortunately I am at a small base in Afghanistan and don't have access to this cd.

I have found a few recovery console/boot disk isos that I burned onto cds but when I try to boot from one of these cds it goes to another BSOD which states STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xF748E0BF, 0xF780A208, 0xF7809F08) pci.sys - Address F748G0BF base at F7487000, datestamp 3b7d855c.

I would very much like to get into the recovery console to at least try some of the steps I have read in the guides but have thus far had no luck. Does anyone have any information as to why I am getting the second error when I try to boot from CD? Or able to recommend any programs that might work?

Thanks in advance.

first off, i'm running xp...

i have shortcuts on my desktop to folders that i use often. if i just boot up the comp, they work fine. after the comp has been on a while(i never shut it off, so after a day or two), the shortcuts stop working, but only shortcuts to a folder. shortcuts to a program work fine. i can still get to the folders by clicking on my computer, then going to the folder, but it's more aof a pain to do it this way.

if i reboot, they work fine again, for a while. then back to what i just explained.

WTF is going on???

Answer:shortcuts on desktop stop working, reboot comp, then they work, then stop... WTF??

I'm running Vista Home Premium SP2. My computer is a Gateway GM5410E, Intel Core2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86 ghz, 2 gb RAM - 32 bit
For as long as I can remember this computer will be working fine and then I will hear the hard drive start making a lot of noise (maybe its not the hard drive) once this noise starts everything slows down to almost a complete stop. It usually lasts 3-5 minutes then goes away. I have not found any way to make it start or stop and it seems to happen randomly. I've run scans with MSE and malwarebytes and AVG but have never found any problems. What can I do?

What the hell is a E7250 ? If you never use caps lock, there are ways to disable the key I am sure, use Bing or Google.

My Lime Wire Pro was not working so i uninstalled and reinstalled to try to fix it, it still wouldn't work so i took the program completely off and downloaded the regular Lime Wire, i downloaded a few songs one of which was a virus but my anti-virus caught it and removed it before it had a chance to completely download. Everything was working fine afterwards until i shut my computer down and went to turn it on the next morning which is when i got the first blue screen. That basically told me to remove any newly installed software so i went into the F8 screen and started windows in safe mode, removed lime wire and ran the anti-virus and spy bot...nothing was found. I then restarted and it brought me to another blue screen. I have tried everything i can possibly think of. After installing Vista SP1 and after the restart I received a Stop Error 0x0000c1f5.
This stop error would not let me use the Recovery disk and would not let me boot into safe mode. This happen on a Sony Vaio notebook VGN-NR120E with Vista. I contact Sony and Microsoft with this issue. They all say that Windows 7 will fix this issue and wanted to know if I had a windows 7 DVD. Well if I did I would have not been talking to them at all I would have use the Windows 7 to try to fix the problem or just installed Windows 7. Lets say if your system is lock with a BSOD with this stop error 0x0000c1f5 you will find it very difficult to fix. But I did find a way. Microsoft and Sony were unable to help so this left me on my own. First I tried the program called System Rescue Cd to remove the corrupted $TxfLog file. This did remove the file but still had the stop error 0x0000c1f5. Then I tried Super FDISK. This was able to erase the HDD enough to remove the stop error 0x0000c1f5. Now I was able to use the Recovery Disk to diagnostic the system. Once you erase the HDD with Super FDISK you will not be able to restore Vista. You will have to use the Recovery Dick to wipe clean the HDD and reinstall Vista. During the Disc erase of the HDD using the Recovery Disc I had an error that would not let the program erase all of the data off the HDD. So I downloaded the Drive Fitness Test Cd image program from Hitachi Global Storage Technologies to check the HDD. After the diagnostic test was finish... Read more

got any creative ways to do this? I host a few websites on my home server with a cable modem. i use a dns service and just plug in my ip, since it never changes. when u do a reverse dns, all my sites that i host show up. can i stop this? got any creative ideas? I cant get a extra ip from my isp so thats out of the question. my main issue is i would like to create a new website, i dont want anyone to beable to see what my other sites are. i dont know if i can do this on the same ip though.

Answer:how can i stop reverse dns/stop showing all the sites i host

Uhh, could you explain a bit more, I don't think the term you are looking for is reverse DNS. For your IP address only one name would come back and that in your case should be what ever your ISP designated that to be. PTR records (reverse DNS) are delegated to the ISP who is allocated the net block and from there the ISP can delegate it as they see fit. How ever if this is some consumer cable/DSL connection you won't be changing those records, and you won't be getting your ISP to change it. If you want that kind of ability you should be looking at dedicated or colocated hosting.

Hello there!

I have searched the posts to make sure I was not double posting this and I am having trouble finding some kind of solution to my specific error code.

I want to say first off that I am a MAC user and although I am pretty proficient in PC and have had a lot of luck fixing PC issues I hope you all can bear with me.

So, I am trying to fix my GF's computer and hope to at least get somewhere tonight.... i'm talking about fixing the PC not.... anyways

She has an Inspiron 1520 Laptop running WXP. Basically when we start her up, ....the laptop, it boots for a little bit and then restarts and I get this BSOD:

*** STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, oxb8a3192c, oxb9ce9c14, oxbpce9910)

There is nothing else mentioned. It did say something about stopping some BIOS stuff (shadowing..) and driver stuff too.

I read on here about checking a "dump" and running certain things, but as I stated before, I'll need a little guidance if it's no trouble.

Can anyone help me out? That would be really cool and we would appreciate it.

TIA and hope to hear form you!

Alex

Answer:BSOD stop message *** STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005.... Help plz? THANK YOU!

Can you boot into safe mode (rpeatedly tap F8 on startup and select Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking)?

0x7E is a very common bugcheck that shows up for a wide range of problems. If you can get into safe mode, please follow the instructions here: http://www.techsupportforum.com/1871981-post2.html

It will provide us with more information on the system and the minidumps to analyze.

Keyboard and mouse stop working

Hi, I'm having some major problems with my Dell Dimension 8400 which runs on Windows XP.
It all started with some files found and replaced during chkdsk.
My PC was working fine yesterday, but today when I turned it on the problem started.
At first, everything is okay. Then, after the initial Windows page the screen goes black and a gray bar appears at the bottom. At this point, the keyboard and mouse shut off (lights go off) and stop working. Once the gray bar has finished loading (1-2 seconds), windows continues to start as usual. The only problem is when I get to the log in screen (where I have multiple user accounts) I cannot choose one to log on with because the keyboard and mouse do not work. I have tried unplugging them and putting them in the USB slot instead but to no avail. I cannot run safemode or anything because the same login screen comes up.
I tried hitting F12 initially and ran hard drive diagnostics which gave me the alarming result:
"Drive 0: ST3160023AS - FAIL - Return Code 7
Drive 2: No device"
Drive 4...my CD drive...diagnostics not supported
Drive 5...my DVD drive...diagnostics not supported

Any Suggestions? Please help!

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Keyboard and mouse stop working AND STOP 0X0000007B

Please follow the steps here for the Stop 0x0000007B error: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324103

As you will note, one cause can be a boot sector virus.

Return Code 7 can indicate hard drive failure. Drive 0 is the hard drive.

As for CHKDSK replacing files and causing this problem, it's not likely. Even IF you check both options- fix file system errors and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, it didn't 'cause' the problem, it just made it more evident.

Backup everything you do not want to lose and consider replacing the hard drive.

I have been getting some pretty bad blue screens lately the first one started out as the "Stop 0x00000101 "A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval" BSOD but then I stopped receiving those and started getting "machine_check_exception__Stop: 0x0000009C" though I have got the 0x00000101 two times after the machine check exception BSODS started. So I have included some OS information, my hardware specs, and I have attached a perform report and my Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2 file and followed the steps exactly. Though I did zip each folder up then zip the zipped folders together for some inception effect :P

Win 10 Pro machine off for a few days. I have delayed the Fall update for 365 days as of 12/17 though I will eventually get around to installing it. I believe I know that the Meltdown/ Spectre update is non negotiable. With win 7 it was easy to disable all updates. While not good security policy I went at times for over a year without installing any cum. roll ups. This morning after booting I noticed constant disk activity and I thought uh-oh here comes the Meltdown/ Spectre update. Sure enough my only option at shutdown was to basically install. (1) What would have happened if I had just deleted the SoftwareDistribution folder assuming I was able to? Could that have caused all sorts of problems at boot up since the system was apparently going to be looking for the update it told me that it had just downloaded and was going to install at shutdown or next boot. (2) Did MS do away the CMD prompt trick "net stop wuauserv" etc. to stop updates.

https://www.itechtics.com/disable-by...wn-windows-10/

I assume if that means was available I would have to do it again if it got enabled and of course if I had deleted the SoftwareDistribution folder next time with an Internet connection it would download all over again. So I just went ahead and let it install:2017-12 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4053580) successfully installed on 01.12.2018

I have my personal laptop with me at work today. It is now downloading Win10 10166, but its at about 30% and I don't think it will finish by the time I get out of work (in about 30 minutes). Can I just shut down Windows in the middle of the download if it's not finished by 5?

If I don't hear back, I guess I'll find out. I suppose I could just leave the laptop at work tonight (to finish download) if necessary.

Answer:Can I stop download in middle - will it start again where I stop it?

Question answered. I shut down laptop at 5pm and went home.
I'm home now, laptop powered up - and download is starting over from 0%.

Answer:BSOD random stop : stop 0x0000007A

Hi alex6ber.

In the zip, there is only one crash dump, and that is of 31/05/2012. I doubt that it will give any idea about the present situation.

Attachment 301767

Also, follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any disc cleanup tool before you upload another zip.

I'm new person at this forum, and i want to get some help
When I'm click on my NBA Live 06 icon , shows blue Stop Error Screen :
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the Stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try chaging video adapters.

Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

Consequently none of my network printers, PDF creator, XPS printer, etc operate, but they are displayed occasionally in Devices & Printers.
I've looked at C: Windows/System32/Spool/Printers but there are no files to delete.

I'll attempt to make a very long story short:

Major virus infection on computer resulted in fdisk and reformat. I used Win 98SE to fdisk and reformat, as I couldn't for the life of me find a format on the Dell Operating reinstallation CD. (could be first mistake)

Used Win 98 SE startup diskette to start system w/CD rom support.

Navigated to D: Drive which containe the XP OS reinstallation. Navigated to I386 folder and typed WINNT to begin reinstalling files.

Start WIn XP setup and began copying files to HD.

Screen shows: The MS-DOS based portion of setup is complete. Setup will now restart you computer. After your computer restarts, WIN XP Setup will continue. Remove floppy, etc.

Computer restarts - did inspection of system, shows Win XP Setup, loading files (drivers, controllers, etc.)

Starting windows - Welcom to Setup:
1. Setup - press enter
2. Repair (using Repair Console)
3. Quite - F3

Pressed enter

Next message:

Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer. Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer. This may involve running a mfg supplied diagnostics or setup program.

Setup cannot continue Press F3

System then attempts reboot, attempts installation again by booting from HD. Then error message:

I could repost the dump files but no ones gotten anything out of them before except usama who told me to update a chipset which i did and it still dumps. Yes i did the ram thing too with no luck. Yesterday I had a bad spyware infection on my PC. I was unable to access task manager, and my explorer had crashed, so I had to restart my pc.

When I restarted, I got a STOP: 0x00000024 error message. Then I tried starting in safe mode, which froze at Mup.Sys and then popped up a STOP: 0x00050 message. At the top it said PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.

Since then I've booted the PC with NTFS for Dos and ran a chkdsk, which came up with no errors. The hard drive diagnostics on the PC says the harddrive passes the check.

The only thing I've been able to find is:

Possible Cause: Depletion of Nonpaged Pool Memory
If the nonpaged pool memory is completely depleted, this error can stop the system. However, during the indexing process, if the amount of available nonpaged pool memory is very low, another kernel-mode driver requiring nonpaged pool memory can also trigger this error.

Solution

Either increase the amount of installed random access memory (RAM), which increases the quantity of nonpaged pool memory available to the kernel, or reduce the number of files on the SFM volume.

I don't really know where to go from here, so any help would be appreciated. The OS is Windows XP Pro.

Answer:STOP: 0x00000024 and STOP: 0x00000050

Hi ragnarok35

Chkdsk can help with disk problems, but doesn't do anything to remove malware. Did you remove the malware first? If so, what tools did you use?
_______________

If you have good recent backups of your data & installable media for Windows and for the programs you use - erase the hard drive & reinstall. Don't reconnect to the Internet or any networks until you have an antivirus and firewall installed and running.

If you don't have good backups yet, backup your personal data first. And scan it for malware before restoring it to a freshly recovered computer.
_______________

A quicker, though less secure method: clean the system as thoroughly as possible with a bootable CD/DVD with up-to-date antimalware tools (I recommend making a UBCD4Win DVD --- http://www.ubcd4win.com --- it is free to make, so long as you have a WinXP CD or installation files folder). Once clean, perform an in-place repair reinstall of Windows --- http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

Best of luck

Why can't I stop slow loading pages or pages that can't connect in IE7? They just keep trying to load when I press the Stop Button and sometimes they will eventually freeze on me. the problem seems to be worse with a bad link state or low bandwidth. And by the way I am using Vista Home Premium, please help.

I would recommend switching browers to Firefox which would most likely solve all your problems. (if you want you can make firefox look just like IE7 and that way you cannot even tell the difference. There are some pretty exact ones out there.)

No problems there as all I had to to was re-set the date/tie and it was fine. A couple of days ago I got the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH. Turns out I have the error code above. I haven't update or changed anything lately apart from some security updates. I think it may be a hardrive but not 100%. The thing is I can log fine into safe mode? So surely it cannot be the motherboard. Do you know what else it may be/is 100% of the time?

hello dear sir
I have the problem with my printers in my office . the printers are HP laser jet 1300 and 2035.
my problems is : After I print a document , printer does not stop and printing white papers until I stop print service or power down the printer.
whenI push ctrl+p to print ,
some files like shockwave.shd appears in this address." c:\windows\system 32\spooler\printers". and these files never vanished unless i stop the print spooler.
I know that : The following briefly describes the purpose
of SPL, SHD, and TMP files:

SPL files are the actual spool (print job) files.

TMP files are usually associated with LPR print jobs.

SHD files provide information about which printer the print job was sent to and from
whom the print job came. An SHD file is a "shadow" file that keeps track of what logical printer a (same number) xxxxx.spl file goes to. It also contains the file's order in the queue, the user who sent the file to the printer, and other information.
These files are usually deleted unless the logical printer settings state otherwise.
but these files never vanished and untils these file were removed manually ,
printer cant print at all.
please help me .

Alright so i have had this problem for a while now and it is really getting bad. My laptop will randomly shut off or go to that 'blue screen of death' where it tells me it recieved a stop command or error and that there is something wrong with a new hardware installation. The only hardware I have put in was RAM that needed to be replaced because of bad sticks. I know its in there right and thats not the problem. I put in a brand new stick and the problems i previously had were significantly reduced but now my computer will often randomly shut off and occasionally wont restart for a short time period. Please help me, my other computer tech friends have so far been unable to fix it.

Answer:y460p stop working and run again....stop working

hi qoqnus,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community.

When you said it stops working, does the computer freezes up and stops responding for a while?

If this is the case, try to:

1. Perform a clean boot. - this isolates the issue if there's an application or a service that's causing the hang time.
2. If the issue re-occurs, there's a possible bad sectors on the hard drive and the only way to find out is to run a hardware scan on the HDD. I personally use UltimateBootCD (www.ultimatebootcd.com) for the diagnostics. Video usage here.and here. Click here for details or:follow the stes below:

1. Download the the UBCD ISO (www.ultimatebootcd.com)
2. Burn the ISO using imgburn
3. Insert the CD that you just created into the defective computer and reboot
4. Upon reboot, continuously press F12 and boot from the ODD/CD-DVD

To burn the diagnostic softwre on a flashdrive, follow this guide

Note:
If you find any errors, you will need to change the HDD. If don't have a recovery or restore disc, you can obtain one by contacting the Lenovo Technical Suport. Support phone list here.

Hope this helps

Hello to the good people at Bleeping. I've got a problem which I can't seem to figure out

OK, awhile back, I was getting some pop-ups that stated "Script keeps running" or something to that effect. There were a few others worded a little differently, but they all asked me if I wanted to stop the script, which I would have to do

It became very annoying so I researched it & ended up changing how long the scripts would run & a few other things. I don't remember what I actually opened to do that as it was awhile ago, but it seemed to help a little

Anyway, in the last few months, my computer is basically under a script notice pop-up siege. It runs extremely slow, & then the barrage of script pop-ups start. The computer will freeze up, then the pop-up notice, then it takes about 3-4 minutes to stop the script. I also get some low memory notices, but those are rare

It's happening constantly now, making it hard to do anything on my computer

My RAM is usually around 75%, & my usage is around 25%, so I don't see a problem there, although I'm not sure

What causes this & how do I fix it?

Thank you for any help

Answer:Can't Seem to Stop This...

Hello Mozart, and welcome to BC! By the way... you are one of my fav composers, and I would like to know if you felt that you were advancing into the Romantic period with the structural composition of your last symphony #41, the Jupiter?

ANYWAY, back to boring, old computers.
So, you have a runaway script? That could signify a corruption in the OS, or possibly a virus.

First, boot into Safe Mode without networking and use the computer as you normally would. If the problem stops or continues, post back with the result. Safe Mode will look and feel a lot different because it loads only the basic drivers to get your system booted. You will not have sound, and the desktop will look very primitive, but don't worry, a simple reboot will put you back into regular mode. Post back with the results.

I keep getting this error message (sku 112.cab) when I open Outlook or any other MS program. The Windows Installer pop up and it performs as though it's reinstalling MS Office Standard (I have MS Office Pro) and then the box pops up telling me to insert my disk. I did with the software disk I stated previously and it tells me it's not there. Well, duh. I know, I thought it might work anyway. Seeing as how the MS Office Standard came with the computer could I just uninstall it and it would stop that? Please don't tell me to download the patches from MS because I tried that too and became infested with bugs. I don't do that anymore and I've been bug free. I don't even use IE anymore. I refuse to go into MS territory without a condom. Can you please help me?

Answer:Sku 112.cab, What Is This And How Can I Get It To Stop?

I have a feeling that some stuff is still left from a prebious uninstall. Please do the following :download Ccleaner hereupdate it. Under options advanced you will see something like " create a backup of the register ? " tick that.Start Ccleaner klick on problems and tick everything with the register and start analyzing. After it is finished you will get a default question whether you want to make a backup. As a default it will be stored in " My Documents " . If smething goes terribly wrong you can, by double klicking , reinstall this backup.

I included some pictures for your conveniance if anyone needs to see what i'm talking about.

Answer:how can i stop this?

well, you can view the sender's IP address by clicking on Full Headers on the top right after you open the message but the IP address is probably fake. however, you can save a copy of the email or forward it to Yahoo's email control. look around, and you'll find where you can do that.

First of all, open Spybot S&D, click Mode>Advanced>Tools>Resident and remove the check from the Tea Timer box. You can reinstate it later but we don't want it interfering with what we need to do. Reboot when done.Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exehttp://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exeSave the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so! This Fix must NOT be run in safe mode for it to work.if you receive, while running option #1, an error similar like: ''C:\windows\system32\cmd.exeC:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. choose close to terminate the application.."...then please use option 5 or the web page link in the l2mfix folder to solve this error condition. do not run the fix portion without fixing this first.

TOTALLY ridiculous, AOL/IE7 issues that block a site that AOL features in their lineup of news and information. Click the "link" page displays but THEN , the RED X message that CAN NOT ACCESS...Have turned of pop blocker, sec.firewall and NOTHING WORKS .Happens repeatedly and NO ONE HAS INFO..(pardon the shouting but with ALL the 'gizmoo'ing these days, everything is overloaded as 'they' TRY to grab attention making the online experience FRUSTRATING to say the very least !! Have (unfortunately) Verizon dsl for residence ( another waste of $$$ for is slow and they are more into their 'now" FIOS operations which is NOT available where we are located and NO ONE bothers to address the issues those of us NOT on FIOS optics/etc have.A goodly majority of us ordinary folks are NOT super computerized sorts..we DO use access for news and information and email and even shopping but ALL has gotten too frenzied and frantic and FRUSTRATING just to utilize simple interactions. THEY NEED TO NOTE WE ARE NOT ALL COMPUTER GEEKS but we do realize computers are a major component whether we want them or not in order to fulfill some of the basics of modern life these days. AND while so noting , note too, OUR pockets have limited supples of $$$$ to boot, especially with the current economy.

Answer:how to stop red x IE 7 and aol

Who the hell uses AOL anymore? And why are you still running IE7?I don't know which Verizon DSL version you have, but I have 3.0 Mbps & it flies, plus it's only $20/month. Maybe your computer is a piece of crap, or it's loaded up with spyware or other garbage programs that bog it down (very likely if you use AOL).It would help if you'd list your system specs - at least the make/model/speed of your CPU, amount of RAM, make/model of video card & the size of your hard drive.

Hi MannyguyWelcome to BC. It seems that in addition to several other baddies like CWS, haxdoor, backdoor trojans and several other trojans, you have a rather sinister keylogger on your machine as evidenced by these entries below :F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=explorer.exe "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Folders\ibm00029.exe"O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [shell] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Folders\ibm00029.exe"This is the standard warning for cases such as yours . . . .You are strongly advised to do the following immediately (as they apply to your computer useage):1. Disconnect infected computer from the internet and from any networked computers until the computer can be cleaned.2. Call all of your banks, credit card companies, financial institutions and inform them that you may be a victim of identity theft and to put a watch on your accounts or change all your account numbers.3. From a clean computer, change *all* your online passwords -- for email, for banks, financial accounts, PayPal, eBay, online companies, any online forums or groups you belong to.Do NOT change passwords or do any transactions while using the infected computer because the attacker will get the new passords and transaction information. No doubt through my own fault(I downloaded Limewire on the advice of a friend??)which I uninstalled virtually straight away. But despite on my Vista O/S having Norton 360 & Windows defender which both when I carry out a scan say everything is ok and I have no problems I am getting Web sites popping up every so often over whatever site I am on the internet.I have even iinstalled Ad-Aware and carried out a scan but this has not produced anything. Any help to get rid of these pop up web sites would be appreciated.

Question: How Stop WMP ?

When WinXP(H)SP-1 plays its assigned sounds, no program (WMP) takes the screen. B4 WMP 9 & 10, same applied when double click a WAV file. Now, WMP loads, plays sound, and then must be closed. Can this be prevented ? I just want to hear the sound, not mess with loading & unloading a program,(WMP). I have tried unchecking WAV in MP, but it just greys out, and MP remains the file association.

Hi,
Why are some applications , when I chose to let them run at Startup , gives me an Error message.
" There is No disk in the Drive. Please Insert a diski nto drive
\Device\Hardisk4\DR14 "

Then it gives me the option of:

Cancel Try Again Continue

Usually, I would choose and hit a couple of times at the Continue Option. Usually happen to Program like Spy sweeper and zone Alarm and now a freeware call Cleancache.
How do I make XP Home Ed. NOT to ask for the Disk at Startup. I have already check MSCONFIG and it seems okay. Eventthough, I Re-Format and Re-Install Xp., Re-dowloaded a Fresh copy of the Programs and Re-Install it again but to no avail.
p.s rUNNING sp2, same problem w/ sp1 too.

Thanks.

Answer:How To Stop Xp From Asking...??

Try downloading a copy of Tuneup Utilities 2004.

I use it and I believe their is an option to suppress error messages during startup.

Question: Non stop pop ups

Hi guys, new to this forum, so go easy on me. My problem is that recently, I have problems with nonstop popups. And these aren't the normal pop ups, but continuous "action cancelled" windows that will constantly pop up for about 30+ secs, creating upwards of 50 explorer windows. This usually happens when i get a "page cannot be displayed" window and I hit the refresh button, it'll initiate this behavior. And other times, it'll just do that wen I go to browse a different page. I have the comcast security manager and System mechanic 4, but they detect no parasites. Any help will be greatly appreciated as this problem is getting anoying. Thanks

I was reading PCWORLD today and they said it's very important to purchase a Spy Sweeper or a Spyware stopper. It seems like everytime you turn around some company is telling you that your computer is be infected by something and that you need to spend more money to prevent this. Why in the heck I'm I buying Norton 2005 Antvirus and thinking that I'm some what protected? Maybe I'm just bitching but having Norton and if I deceide to purchase spyware will cost me almost $100.00 more a year. I'm new to the PC world and maybe this is just the price you pay for a computer but I think it's a complete scam. 95% of you folks on this site have very impressive computers that you have invest a boat load of money into and I guess you feel good about spending your hard earned money, however for myself trying to make ends meet without any help from friends or family money it's disaapointing. Is there free Spyware out there for us folks or should I just take my chances.? Any advice would be welcome.

A few months ago I submitted a similar request but was never able to fix the problem.
Now it seems the problem is slightly different from what I had thought it was.
I have a home built pc with an Asus P5Q-E motherboard, E4600 cpu, 4g's ram and a WD 640g hard drive. The HD is brand new as of 1 week ago.
I formatted all partitions to NTFS.
Partitions are C-49g, E-244g and F-303g.
I've separated the software programs from system software. I had not done this before, but it has no bearing on my problem.
OS is XP Pro w/SP3 and all updates and patches that were needed have been installed.
Had a problem initially with installing updates but fixed the installer with a method found on the MS Help and Support site.

My hard drive is thrashing around constantly. The HD light is blinking around 1 per second during idle times.
When at idle Task manager shows 99% cpu idling.
No activity shows up anywhere including I/O read and writes.
I already turned off Indexing Service.
I tweaked according to the suggestiosn at Blackviper's site and also used Harden-it for a bit more security.
Nothing I have done has helped with the thrashing.
I'm a novice and really don't have a clue of how to fix this.

Last night I read of someone else w/the same problem. He unplugged his Optical SATA drive and the thrashing stopped. I tried that and the flashing light slowed down then stopped but the system was slow and unstable. I re-connected the drive and the pc works ok except for the th... Read more
