Cannot load latest windows update

Question: Cannot load latest windows update

I recently reloaded xp on my computer to fix an error created by another piece of software. Since than I cannot get my system to accept security updates from Microsoft. The down load works, but I get an error that indicates none of the updates can be installed. I am currently missing 70 updates. I have tried to load one at a time in the event I did not reserve enough disk space, but I still get the same results. Do you have any ideas how this can be fixed.

Preferred Solution: Cannot load latest windows update

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Cannot load latest windows update

Try this website:

http://www.getautopatcher.com/

It allows you to download all the patches (about 300 MB) and install what you need. I have a security camera pc(vendor configured) that does not allow access to the windows update website and I used this tool to patch the system. Hope it helps solve your issue.

I installed the latest Windows updates this morning and my laptop is now taking an age to load.  No messages about updates installing or anything like that.

Once it finally uploads, I'm looking at the old Desktop, and I can't get the Apps screen to show.  Nor do the Settings come up when I go to the bottom right-hand corner.

I am able to use most things I need by using the Desktop but it's obvious there's something not right!

Answer:Since latest update, Windows 8.1 features will not load.

This may seem overly simplistic, but have you tried restarting the computer?

If this doesn't resolve the issue, go to the Control Panel and click/tap on Programs and Features.

In the upper left portion of the window click on View installed updates.

These updates are dated, so you should have no problem finding the update/s that you installed last.

Post what the update/s are.

Edit:  If there were no integrity issues found in the scan a log may not be available.

I updated to the latest Windows 7 service pack this morning, upon restarting I can log in however nothing loads up. My screen is black, I am able to move the cursor. When pressing CTRL + ALT + DELETE a error message comes up stating:

"Failure to display security and shut down options. The logon process was unable to display security and logon options when CTRL+ALT+DELETE was pressed. If the operating system does not respond, press ESC or restart the computer by using the power switch."

I am able to boot in to safe mode, I have attempted a system restore to the time before updating this morning. However this stays at initializing for at the moment around 3 hours. I have no idea now what to do, I purchased this laptop in November 2011 which came preloaded with Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64 bit.

Any help is much appreciated, if you need anymore details please ask and I will provide them.

Answer:Latest Windows 7 Update on Sony Vaio - Now will not load properly

Upon cancelling the system restore and attempting to load again, after log in it stayed black for a while then BSOD, "BAD_POOL_CALLER" and shut down. I was unable to get the error number, I will attempt to load again and see if it happens/if I can get some numbers for you guys.

Hi folks,
When windows 10 was first released I downloaded it and burned to DVD using the media creation tool from Microsoft.
As windows 10 has now had a major update, and I want to create a DVD with that update on it, without having to reinstall it later, as I have other partitions on my computer to update to 10 as well.
So my query is, does anyone know if I was to download windows 10 32 bit from Microsoft again (using the media creation tool from Microsoft) will it include the latest major update to 10?
Thanks for any help

Answer:Is windows 10 latest big update included in latest media creation tool

Microsoft has made available a download able iso for win 10 1511. If you don't see download link on win pc then try on some other device.. like an android phone or tablet. That's how I got it downloaded and had clean installed. Hope this helps.

hi first off im old and know nothing about computers or jargon so if any one replies be gentle with me.
ok i have been playing Open Beta-free-to-play, browser-based games with no problems untill the other night i turned off the computer and it down loaded windows updates .Now no beta games will load and run on my laptop they just freeze the browser and all tabs open i have to shut them down using the small box at the bottom.it must be something to do with the downloads as i have another computer that they will load on but this is too old and slow to run them on.Any help would be good thanks

Answer:since latest windows up date no beta games will load

Hello cliver and welcome to Seven Forums.

I think you've narrowed down the problem to Windows Updates. I would suggest that you uninstall all of those updates and then see if the games will load and run.

Windows Update - Uninstall an Update

Assuming the games are now working, try reinstalling the updates. But instead of automatically installing all of them at once, install just one at a time and restart the computer after each one. See if the games are still working. If yes, install the next update, restart, check games. Keep doing this until either all of the updates have successfully installed, or you've pinpointed which update is causing the problem.

You can manually check for updates by looking in the start menu for Windows Update, or opening Control Panel > Windows Update. Click on "check for updates" and let the scan finish. You should be presented with a list of available updates (critical, important, optional) and they will probably all be checked. Uncheck all but the first critical update and install, restart, check games.

Hello everyone I have a problem updating my windows to version 1703 (Currently on 1607). What happened was on my PC there was an update available and decided to update after it restarted I got the screen "working on updates" So I decided to leave it there for a while and did something else when I came back all I saw was a black screen the PC wasn't like restarting or anything. I waited 30 minutes and nothing has changed just black screen so I decided to force turn off my PC and turn it on again my PC was checking for repairs then went back to updating when it got to 87% the update just froze like nothing was moving at all not even the loading thing it's just literally froze I waited an hour and nothing so unfortunately I forced turned off my PC and it restored back to the previous version I look through the update history it says I have updated the windows 10 creators update privacy settings? which was the one I failed and I looked at the version I was and it's still 1607 (screenshots below) and when I try to update it says it's up to date. I am kinda panicking a little and was wondering why is this happening to my gaming computer.

Oh by the way I went to troubleshooting and this is what I got a lot of errors

Update:I ran troubleshooter again and got the same thing "Repair Windows Update Database Corruption" Dang this makes me more panicking. Honestly, I hope this really gets fixed

Answer:Windows Update Failed To Install Latest Update

Hi, just a note on that most recent update:
Upgrading to Creators Update requires installing KB4013214

It seems like the download failed.

Given your repairs, an excellent start, I'd suggest you do this by way of basic checks:
From an admin command prompt
[Windows key + X, click command prompt (admin)]
chkdsk C: /F
Your PC will need to restart.
Post back the result, which you can get after a restart as follows:
How do I see the results of a CHKDSK that ran on boot? - Ask Leo!
Make sure the result is clear or fixed- else do not proceed.

Then from an admin prompt run
sfc /scannow

and post the result (not the whole log).

I would recommend you MANUALLY download the Creator's Upgrade.

Why?
- it lets you create a useful bootable medium with some repair features
- you can use it to do a future clean install or in-place upgrade
- if the upgrade fails, you can repeat it without downloading again.
Download Windows 10 ISO File - Windows 10 Installation Upgrade Tutorials

Now, once you are happy with your disk and integrity of your Windows, please take this precautionary step:
Download and use Macrium Reflect (free) + its boot disk - and you will need a large external disk or similar
and create a disk image (in particular, option Windows Backup).

Then do the upgrade using the iso you have downloaded.
When you upgrade, disconnect any unnecessary peripherals, esp. wireless mouse.

If you end up with an unbootable PC you can then restore it exactly as it was.

Greetings!

I have Acer Aspire 5750G. My current BIOS version is 1.07. The latest version is 1.12.

There are a few versions in between. Should I do incremental updates and reach 1.12 or should I just go direct to 1.12?

Many Thanks!

Answer:BIOS - Incremental updates to latest vrsn or direct update to latest?

Bios updates are cumulative, so you only need the latest.

You also don't need to update the bios unless there is a fix in it/them that fixes an issue you may be having. For the most part updating the bios is as easy as updating a driver, only if a bios update goes wrong you can't roll back to the old and you basically end up with a nice paperweight.

Anyone doing a fresh install of Windows 7 should manually install SP1 (if needed).

The Windows Update Agent was renamed to Windows Update Client.

Manually requesting a search for Windows Updates on a Windows 7 computer with SP1 install should prompt the user to install a pre-SP1 Windows Update (WU) Agent (7.6.7600.320). Seems odd.

That old WU Agent worked just fine until Microsoft changed the update servers. The info coming back from the servers seems to now cause high RAM/CPU usage for some computers... but that old WU Agent should eventually get the job done. The computer might be useless for any other task for 24+ hours.

You can skip installing that old WU Agent and manually install the latest WU Client instead. Or, you can manually install the latest WU Client over top of that old WU Agent.

However, below is what I encountered when I went to install the latest Windows Update Client on a W7 pro 64bit SP1 computer.

I started by using these search terms in Google:
"Windows Update Client" "March 2016" "Windows 7"
As this post ages, replace "March 2016" with the current month/year.
If that does not find the desired KB, try the previous month.

That lead me to this link for March 2016: KB3138612.

The W7 pro 64bit SP1 computer has IE8 installed by default.

Visiting KB3138612 via IE8 got me this:

Clicking on the link to update the browser got me this:

I no Ethernet, but I do have wireless. Everything was functional on the 9th November, and messed up after the 10 November update. I checked everything, and the pcs running Windows 10 don't have Ethernet but my Windows Server 2012r2 has Ethernet just fine. I had XFINITY check everything on their end. I tried Winsock reset several times but no change.
Any suggestions or ideas? This happened on one of the builds before, and it seemed after a lot of hem- hawing they fixed whatever they did.

Answer:No ethernet after latest Windows 10 update

Hi, one of many possible ideas.. (hope you've solved this by now).. try the driver you were using before the Nov upgrade. (Maybe you can roll back). The Nov. TH2 upgrade is a MS novelty item, as you know, being akin to a new Windows installation.

A number of similar instances are reported as you've most probably found.

If you need to use a different driver to the one prescribed by MS, you will need to protect it from update (see the tutorial section - link above).

Installation of latest Windows 10 update, which I believe is version 14393, fails after about 71% or so of the end action of installation, replacing version 10586.  The failure action is as follows.  After rebooting, a notice is displayed for less than a second, stating "Attempting to recover the installation of Windows" followed by another notice for less than a second, stating "Restroing your previous version of Windows."   After a few seconds the screen goes blank except for a rotating ring of dots that continues forever until my computer is switched off.

Hello all,

I have had no internet on my laptop for about well...Maybe a month now (because of network problems which I have posted in the networking support section...no help yet though). And I haven't been able to update my computer with the latest update. I have heard that the update before this last one has caused people to have networking problems such as mine (Saying the wireless is working fine but won't load anything internet related).

So, my question is...Is there a way I can download the update package and use my memory stick to transfer it to my laptop to update my computer to see if it will fix the network problem that I am experiencing?

Thank you kindly!

Answer:Latest Update for Windows XP/Miscrosoft

I'm not sure if you can add all the updates to a memory stick, but it is possible to create a slipstreamed CD containing all the updates using your original installation disc. The instructions on how to do it can be found here.

I'm in a bit of a pickle in that the latest Update killed my rig. I get a stop report BSOD and Windows won't even boot.

Answer:BSOD Following Latest Windows Update

You can still do a clean install of Windows 10 by downloading the ISO from Microsoft to create your own DVD or USB install media. Since you have already had W10 installed on your PC it has a digital rights entitlement so it will automatically activate, you simple skip entering the product key when asked to do so.

Windows Updates downloaded on 14/4 caused significant problems. Instead of restarting in response to the prompt, the machine powered itself off. When booting up again it went into command mode telling me that there was a problem and offering to repair it, but powered off again. I managed to get it booted up ok by doing a System Restore under the Reinstall Windows option, but since Automatic Update is selected the same Updates caused the same problem when I powered off last night.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Answer:Problems with latest Windows Update

Get the computer working again. Then set update to notify, rather than to install automatically. Then when you are advised of the new updated, do not install it, hide it.
If you have questions with any of this just post.

Hey guys! Basically what I mean is that I've created the ISO file using Media Creation Tool right after upgrading Windows 8.1. Since then W10 was updated to the 10586 build and I was thinking of updating the ISO (just for emergencies). What are my options? Should I use MCT again and just create another ISO file?

Another option would be to download a Windows 10 torrent. Since my key is associated with my MS account I figured it would activate with no problems. What do you recommend??

Just posting to ask if anyone has had any system problems after the latest set of WU installs (10 June) ?

I had a couple o lockups today and ended up using a system restore to recover - I have re-applied the update and it seems OK so far.

The strange thing was that the system repair from the install disk identified my win 7 7100 as vista ultimate before actually running the repair

One thing I did notice was that this update reset my start screen to the default one

I have a Star Wars Special Edition Notebook - 15-an050nr, that is about 1 month old.  Yesterday, I tried to downoad and install the latest huge (3gb or so) update to Windows 10 that was just released.  I ended up with a message saying that the update failed because there was not enough room in the recovery partition.    I checked the partition, and it is 25.1gb, with less than 3gb of space available.  When I got the error message, it showed that the Windows 10 update was taking up 2.87gb, leaving only 25mb left.   I have no clue what to do.  Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Answer:How to update Windows 10 ISO to the latest build??

Why not download the ISO direct from Microsoft. Just choose the correct edition

I am using a Dell laptop and it says I am up to date, but the last update was on 11/11/15 "Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB31052130)". How come I never got the December 4 update, I have another laptop that I use that updated, but not on this one.

Answer:How do I get the latest December 4 Windows 10 update?

Cumulative updates contain all prior cumulative updates, and the December 4th didn't install for many of us easily. There is a new update today, the 8th. See if that one will install, and you will be back up to date.

on windows 7 cant install latest update get error message 80073712

Answer:on windows 7 cant install latest update

Try a manual Windows Update. If it still fails, there are options for diagnosing the problem right on the window that tells you that it failed. It of course goes through the simpler ones first, but if they fail, it offers you other options. Be persistent (once I had one machine that refused sp1 for quite a while, eventually, I found an option there to reinstall the entire updater and that fixed it).You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Hello dear windows 7 community.

I have some hardware related problems, I believe. But today I after I acquired new mob, cpu and psu. I started to doubt myself.
Here is a small overview:
OS: Win 7 x64bit freshly installed today for... 3 time(?).
CPU: Q9400
MOB: Asus P5Q Pro Turbo
RAM: 8gb of Kingston DDR2 HyperX PC8500 4GB KITx2
Graphics: XFX 5970 BE

All the latest available drivers and windows updates.
If I have an areo theme activated, launching Bad Company 2 may fail.
If I switch to windows basic and try starting Bad Company 2 it works just fine.
Alas for no reason what so ever when I tried entering uPlay (from ubisoft), I got a bsod regarding atikmpag.sys

So after a lot of google searches and thinking I came up with a theory, what if my problems are related to a windows update?
Since they started not so long ago, it must be one of the recent updates(?), but I have absolutely no clue which one it might be.

Answer:What is latest released windows update?

What do you mean with that Windows updates "started not so long ago"? Windows Update has been working since the day 1 of the early test versions, updates rolling out and being installed constantly since that.

Your problem is most probably non-working video drivers, at least that atikmpag.sys is a video driver file, and as such it seems your BSOD issues have nothing to do with Windows Update.

Greetings All,Recently did a Clean Install of Windows 7 X64 on an HP DV7 and now My Windows Update will NOT work. It just goes searching forever / endlessly. I have tried and downloaded and installed a few KB Numbers (KB3083710, KB3102810 etc. ) to try and fix the issue with NO avail.  Yes, I am losing my Hair fast   Could  some one please help me with the Latest KB Numbers or Solutions I can try as of August 2016?  Any Help would be greatly Appreciated.Thank You in advance for your time.Best Regards, Rob

Answer:What are the Latest KB Numbers to fix Windows Update NOT wor...

Rob3307 Folks have bandied about a couple of different KBs -- claiming these both "fixed" Windows Updates.  But further examination has revealed that NOT to be true. I continue to support a bunch of Win7 PCs, some of which were rolled back from Win10 because the owners disliked Win10 so much. But, I have noticed that recently, Windows Update has been performing really slowly on ALL these machines. The symptoms are that it searches for HOURS -- and does not appear to make any progress!OR .. it finds stuff, but then goes into downloading for HOURS ... and does not appear to make any progress!Anyway,  check for a Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Downloads\ folder.  This is where Windows Updates stores the updates it downloads and its working files.  IF it exists, Windows Update is working -- even though you see no progress.  Over time, the folder will grow until all the Updates have been downloaded.  Then, it will shrink as the Updates get applied.  When done, Windows should remove it. If it does not, you can remove the contents of that folder, but do not remove the folder itself. And yes ... updates are taking hours (or days!) when they used to take only a few minutes. So basically, there is nothing wrong with your PC.  And -- if you RESET it, you are only going to make matters worse as that will start the Update process from scratch, and the last time I did that, it took three full days (!) to find, download, and apply all the updates... I had 11/12 GB free, then yesterday Windows downloaded a little more than 1GB of updates, and now I have 8 GB free.
Any chance to recover some space? CCLeaner says I can just delete files for 800mb.

Answer:3 GB lost after latest Windows update.

Reboot TWICE then run the CCleaner Temp files and Recycle bin clean-ups - do not clear log files!

THEN use the DiskClean Utility and clear everything except log files.
Then run the utility again and this time do the Advanced cleanup to remove backup files.

You then need to go back to Windows Update and reinstall any updates which the cleanup utility may have removed (last time I looked there were around 3 affected by this)

Edit: Although I received a message of "Updates were successfully installed" right after I opened my computer to all these changes on 8/23, the last update registered is for 8/20 (I did use my computer between these dates), so it may not be an update issue, but those updates were KB3081444 and KB3081441 if it matters. Still, I would like help solving this problem.

Sometime yesterday my Windows 10 updated and now my task bar and start menu are completely different. I've searched around the web trying to see if anyone else was having this same issue, but I haven't seen a single mention of it. Basically, my task bar is completely empty aside from the default wifi, sound, battery level, programs menu, etc. over on the right, and 4 buttons to the far left for start menu, Cortana, task view, and a "back" button that takes me to the desktop with the start menu open. All of my pinned programs are gone and not even the icons for currently open programs are showing up. In order to navigate through my programs I have to sort through them in task view.

In order to even open any of my programs, I have to find them in the programs menu, or ask Cortana, because the start menu seems to have reverted to something reminiscent of the Windows 8 start menu, but only with the "Life at a Glance" and "Play and Explore" categories, containing nothing particularly useful.

I would tell you what update it was, but I'm having difficulty navigating everything as ... Read more

Hello I would like to ask:I updated my BIOS last night to the latest version. I am on Windows 10, HP Envy x360. I updated it sucessfully and I am not facing any issues as of now. I wasn't facing one before I updated. Everything was going smoothly but I saw in the HP Support Assistant that I have numerous things to update so I clicked it all & updated. When the BIOS finished installing the computer restarted and I continued updating the others (which included the BIOS internal) but in the middle of the update, I stopped it. And it said it's not applicable anymore. I clicked to update again & the other 3 (there was 4 of them including the BIOS internal) updated succesfully. I even contacted support at that same night to let them do the manual update to give me a peace of mind. The technician said I updated it correctly. But what I read on everyp site on the internet that not to update the BIOS. So I am worrying & scared right now because my laptop might encounter problems that weren't there before the update. I am regretting my decision, I am not a techy person and I don't understand the computer world very well yet I decided to update without knowing first what it was. I am very scared of what might happen because of my carelessness. My questions are:1. Will updating the latest version of the BIOS without any problems in the hardware or anything (it was running smoothly, I just recently purchased it) harm the laptop or give problems to the laptop?2. Hey guys, I am having an issue where I am trying to update to the latest ATI drivers which are 10.12 released 12/13/2010. I go into device manager and find my video card (ati 5850) and when I try and update my drivers it says the correct one is already installed. Problem is these drivers are outdated (8.791). I have tried to uninstall these drivers and install the new ones from the website but the new ones will not install. I do not get any installation errors trying to install the new ones, but after I install them I go to device manager and it still lists the old ones as being the current drivers. Another issue I'm having is when I uninstall the drivers from device manager, it uninstall the whole card as well. I hit the "detect new hardware" and it finds my card and immediately downloads the older drivers and I cannot stop this process. I disabled windows from automatically updating drivers and it still downloads the drivers after the card and drivers get uninstalled. This is extremely frustrating, I have no idea what else I can do. Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. I am running win7 64bit.

Answer:Windows won't let me update to latest ATi drivers

Hello there, Rynzo, according to what i read, 8.791 on the device manager is the latest version:

Quote:
THE DRIVER VERSION 8.791.0.0 APPEARS TO BE THE LAST DRIVER THAT SUPPORTS ATI OVERDRIVE WHICH WAS IN 10-11.........

So i guess there's no problem with your Drivers.. if you're not completely satisfied, you could run Driver Sweeper (after uninstalling ATI Drivers) and install them again

I live in Lima Peru and have a Spanish version of Windows XP. However my browsers and other programs have always been English versions. Two days ago my computers (a PC and a laptop) downloaded and installed the latest Windows Update (a very long Update). Since then, my Internet Explorer 7 menu bar, buttons and status bar are in Spanish. I checked the language option in Internet Options-->General-->Languages but it says English. I tried reinstalling IE many times, downloading the English installer from Microsoft, and it still won't change those bars and buttons to English. (The odd thing is that the Internet Options popUp does appear in English, it's the only thing that appears in English).

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks.

After turning on my computer today, I noticed that the "shut down" icon in start menu had the familiar triangle referring to updates. I closed things down and selected it to "Shutdown and install updates". I keep my Windows as up to date as i can, so this was a recent update.

The problem is that upon starting the computer, I could get to the log in screen with both the Administrator and user accounts visible, but when attempting to select either one to log in, the screen flickers black once for a half-second, then kicks me back to the user select screen. How can i undo this last update without logging in? I tried inserting the windows disk to use the system restore feature, but it claims that "No restore points have been created on your computer's system drive" yet as far as I've seen, each update has been initiated with a "creating system restore point" loading bar, so how can this be? I've attempted logging in in safe mode as well. The same black screen, it just took longer before I got kicked back.

Any tips? Or additional information I can provide?

Edit - If possible, does anyone know of a program or command that can bypass the log in screen and immediately log in? Answer:Need to uninstall latest Windows update without logging in.

Well, you can use something like Hiren's Mini XP to remote edit the registry and create auto login keys for your system. Google "Auto login windows 7" and the links should point you to the correct keys to create/edit.

This doesn't sound like a log in issue to me though. It sounds more like corruption/hard drive failure. Run a chkdsk /r in recovery console and see if that helps.

Hi

I'm not particularly techy so I hope I describe this right.

I have a Toshiba laptop running the 64bit edition of Windows 7 Home Premium. Service Pack 1 is installed.

A couple of weeks ago, I was routinely automatically downloading and installing from Windows Update. Then at my last Windows Update, after it had finished installing, DNS simply would not resolve, then it started to but very very slowly and then it stopped again. I could use IP addresses just fine, but DNS would simply not resolve, or would do so very slowly.

Reading around, I tried the following:

1) Removing the Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter completely. This seemed to work at first, and then it just stopped again.

2) Changing the preferred DNS to 208.67.222.222 and, when that didn't work to 208.67.220.220. that didn't work either.

3) I shut down all anti-virus/firewall - still didn't work.

I ended up taking Windows back to a System Restore point pre- the latest Windows Update and everything was fine again. Now I'm worried to run Windows Update at all. If anyone has any ideas about what I should be doing, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:No DNS after downloading and installing latest Windows Update

You can avoid having to do this if you can figure out which update is causing the problem and then you can right click and hide the update.

This particular update has been causing problems for awhile now but if you happen to reinstall that update then running this command might help.

Lets try flushing DNS cache and renewing your IP.

Flush the DNS cache and restore MS's Hosts file ...
Copy and paste these lines in Note pad.

@Echo on
pushd\windows\system32\drivers\etc
attrib -h -s -r hosts
echo 127.0.0.1 localhost>HOSTS
attrib +r +h +s hosts
popd
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset all
netsh int ip reset all
shutdown -r -t 1
del %0

Save as flush.bat to your desktop. Right click on the flush.bat file to run it as Administrator.

Your computer will reboot it self.

You might need to reboot twice for this to work.

It's around 9.30 PM Australian time, 30th October 2009 and my PC (Windows XP Pro) has been active for around
30 minutes with a huge automatic Windows Update,.. so far it indicates that it has only downloaded 4% of the total update. Is this normal for Widows updates to be this big,.. I have a Broadband connection which is reasonably fast and I find it hard to believe the size of this update and and this rate, the incredibly long time it will take to complete the update. Does anyone else have this update happening at this time ?

For the above updates, it took quite a few hours and a total of 533 MB in size. Is Microsoft playing "catch-up" or is this normal. Are any of you guys having this big update or is it just me?

After the latest big Windows 10 update today, I see two user accounts have been created, namely "Default" and "Default.migrated" Neither existed beforehand. They both contain quite a few folders and subfolders which at the bottom level are all empty. Can I safely delete these accounts?
Previously I had all Public Folders from the Public Account set to locations off my SSD, now they have been recreated on my SSD and I can't move them apart from "Public Account Pictures" as the option to relocate them is not present even though Windows says they can be relocated - see screenshots.
Can the Public Account be deleted without consequence - I never use it!

Answer:Accounts Created after Windows 10 Latest Update

Default.migrated is the pre-update version of Default. It is usually empty. It can be safely deleted.

As for Default... No, it was not created during the update. And it did exist beforehand. Most likely you simply missed it (it is a hidden folder usually). This folder is the default user profile "template". Right next to it there should be a junction Users\Default User, which should point to the very same Users\Default. It was like that since Windows 7, if not earlier. Just let that Default be.

Now, the matter of relocation of Public Folders... I also noticed that and I could also almost swear that I was able to easily relocate them before. Moreover, on my Windows 7 machine they are immediately relocatable. However, on Windows 8 and later they are just like you describe: it is not possible to edit the path and there are no buttons. (Or did this issue appear in Windows 10?)

Anyway, this is a well-known issue that can be worked around by logging in as Administrator in Safe Mode. Reboot in Safe Mode and these paths will immediately become editable in Windows 10 (and the buttons will appear where they are supposed to be). Edit the paths as you wish, move the data and then reboot in normal mode.

Hi, all! I just installed the latest Windows Updates . It caused Internet Explorer 11 to not open webpage and crash almost instantly. I did a System Restore and the problem was no longer there. Has anyone else had a problem like this or know which particular update may have caused this problem? Note that my Firefox and AOL browsers were not affected by the updates.
Thanks, Mark

Ever since I installed the latest Windows 10 update, my laptop's audio has only been about half as loud as it normally is. I've tried doing several restarts and checking my sound settings but I just can't find the root of the problem. Can anyone help?

Also if it helps, I've encountered this problem before but normally a quick restart fixes it. This is not the case here. Also my laptop audio is Realtek high definition audio.

Answer:PC audio much quieter after latest Windows update

I have a Nokia Lumia 635 and have updated to windows 10 anniversary. The app control buttons are now masked by the three system control buttons at the bottom of the screen, so you can't use the delete, sync etc buttons.
In messaging the pop-up keyboard masks the typing line so you cannot see what you are typing in portrait mode.
When using the BBC News apps the text is rendered in a huge font which makes the app unusable.

Answer:Why can't I see the app control buttons after latest windows 10 update?

Is it just me or anybody else got the same problem? After today's update(18/10/17) font in Win. explorer is considerately smaller and thinner. There is no more option in the Control panel to change the font size. Anyone got a solution?

Answer:Font too small after latest Windows 10 update?

I'm partial to "bold" size-12 fonts, so I keep the appropriate .reg files handy to merge into the registry after doing a clean install of Windows 10 or doing an upgrade that changes their size and appearance.

I had to make use of them yesterday after installing the "Fall Creators Update" upgrade.

Answer:Help me fetch the Latest Anniversary Update of Windows 10.

Be patient.  Not everyone will get the update on Aug. 2; not enough bandwidth and server capacity exists to update many millions of computers running Windows 10 on the same day.

The latest windows update patches killed my computer. It doesn't even get to the boot logo after the update, and "logged" option in the F8 boot menu doesn't get a chance to even create the boot log file.

The patches installed were:
KB929338
KB929399
KB890830
Root Certificates

I'm running an A64 X2 4400 on an NForce3 mobo, and windows was nice and stable before this update. I booted a linux live cd to make sure it wasn't a hardware problem, so it's definately something in the update. The first update (KB929338) replaces the NT kernel so I suspect that the very first file that windows tries to load is either corrupted or doesn't work with my hardware configuration. Pretty nasty bug... I can't even boot into safe mode or get at my restore points. The system locks up completely as soon as it starts booting.

Anyone else have problems with this patch cycle?

Answer:latest windows update killed my computer - anyone else?

After the last time I did "Install Updates" I have noticed that even just running a web browser and email has become unstable and slow.

After I installed the latest update, the Windows 10 Creators Update, I am suddenly getting feedback all the time between my mike and speakers. I have a Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 that I use for the microphone, and Realtek High Definition Audio. I can hear it through the speakers when I talk into the microphone. Everything was working fine before the update. What could be going on here?

Answer:Getting Audio Feedback After Latest Windows 10 Update

I think I solved my own problem. I uninstalled the audio devices under the device manager and rebooted, and they reinstalled when I rebooted and it seems to have taken care of the problem.

My system image from a week ago is fine so I'll just revert back to that for the time being.
Very annoying.

Answer:Latest Windows update issues - Caution

Thanks for the heads-up Michael.

I updated my TestBox and I'm not seeing the issues you see.
Event Viewer works and SFC /scannow finds no issues.

I do see some ODD things, but so far no real problems, everything is working. 1) When I installed these patch Tuesday updates in Win7, 1 Update was shown as "Not Needed" and not installed (see screen print below).
I don't remember seeing this before.

2) I keep my systems updated and only hide Bing and Language Pack updates.
Now, Bing updates are not listed in my hidden updates.
Updating a 8.1 OS I kinda see the opposite.
I installed all important updates and after re-booting another important update was available.
That update was not listed/available in the initial PT update.

So, for me:
W7 listed some update that was not needed.
W8 did not list an update that was needed.

It's my Test Box, I have backups and can restore if I need to.
I'm not touching my Primary Box until I understand better and see what others report...

Hi everyone,
i am having trouble working with modelling tool Enterprise Architect 11 (Build 1110) after latest windows update. I get BSOD SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION 0x0000003B same place in application every time. I didn't have this problem before the update.

I used dm log collector.exe to grab the BSOD data. I hope you will find all the information you need in there.
Could you please point me in the direction which will solve my problem?
Thank you

Answer:BSOD same operation in EA 11 after latest windows update

The dumps are clueless, depending on your statement.

Either uninstall the installed updates or perform a system restore to an earlier point of time.

Report us for any further BSOD .
