Solved: Office XP Document Scanning

Question: Solved: Office XP Document Scanning

Can anyone help me? I just had to reinstall Windows XP. Don't know what happened to lose it. Original Windows XP is still there but wouldn't open up. Now I have two installations. I think I can go back, once I have everything straightened out and delete the old Windows.

My question is: I reinstalled Microsoft Works Suite 2002 from the original CD's from Dell. I
thought this would also reinstall Microsoft office XP and document scanning and imaging. But they don't work. I get a message that installation is wrong or shortcut is wrong. Since nothing will come up, how do I fix this. Before losing Windows everything worked fine.

When I lost Windows, I rebooted and it wouldn't boot up. Couldn't do system restore or anything.

Can someone help me fix office?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

What started all my problems is my Microsoft Office tools scanner kept coming up with the error message "An internal error has occurred. I this error persists reinstall this application.

I reinstalled/uninstalled my Microsoft Office XP 2002 twice and still get this message. I got the scanner working with the software that it came with but the Office Tools scanner program is much easier to work with. It should be part of the Microsoft Office program that I tried installing. I have the original discs for Office so it's confusing why the office tools scanner part will not work. Any ideas would be helpful.

Thank you dlb for your help getting my installer to work. I end up having to open the services.msc to start the installer sometimes. Does your start parameters have anything in it. Mine is blank. I was thinking that maybe something should be in the parameters box to have windows installer start all the time. At least I can run it in some form. I could use advice from someone with the following problem.

Upon starting a new document, I entered the margins prior to typing. I entered the Title of the document and centered it horizontally 1.0" from top. I do my work using Print Layout and when I did this particular one, the title is at the top edge with no space even though the top margin is set at 1.0". Then when I viewed it by going to the Print mode, the margin is 2.0", and the bar at the bottom shows the amount of the "line" at 1.5". So I've got all these different top margins and the one I formatted my document with doesn't even show up in any view. White space is checked, I have no columns and rows setup, I deleted the title and typed it again and it still shows the different margins. I have spent over 1.5 hours today looking for the problem and doing research online. You're my last hope. Can you help me so that I'll know what to do when it happens again? Thank you

I have written several chapters of my latest novel (saved as a Word 97-2003 doc) all the pages of which are numbered beginning with 1 on the first page of Chapter One. However, I want to add two pages of a Foreword right at the beginning but don't want these pages numbered. I've tried Page Break and Section Break but each new blank page comes up numbered. If I remove the Footer all the page numbers disappear.

There must be a way of doing this. Can anyone help please?

Question: document scanning

My bookeeper who has been with me for 25 years, is moving to Spain for a large part of the year. Consequently I am looking for a simple way to email purchase invoices to her as they come in. What I am looking for is some sort of software whereby I could put the document in the scanner and with one click email it to her.Ideally it should be like a fax machine whereby it it is scanned and faxed [or in this case emailed] in one go.I do not want to have to go through the laborious procedure of waiting for the scanner to warm up, scanning, saving to hard disc and then emailing as an attachment.Does anyone have any suggestions of what kind of software I should purchase?

Answer:document scanning

If you have a scanner or an all-in-one, it shoudl come with software to allow you to scan documents as pdf's and email it.Paperport click here is also something you can look intoAlso VueScan click here may do the job

I have been trying unsuccessfully to scan a document so that I can email it. Unfortunately the OCR doesn't recognize some characters (hand written) and it replaces it with jibberish. Is there any way to turn off ocr. Also my MS outlook doesn't want to email my messages and I can't figure out why. Do you have any ideas to fix this prob? Thanks

Answer:Scanning a document

OCR programs can be a bit hit and miss.

Can you not just scan the document in as a picture file, .jpg or .bmp etc and send that.

You should have a software control panel for your scanner, to switch between OCR and
other means of 'capture'.

It's not helpful if you want the recipient to 'amend' your document, but is a method to get
the information across, if that's all you want to do.

My Outlook, (which is 2003), has a 'Detect and Repair' option in the Help menu.

What is your version and what error messages do you get (if any), when you
try to send.

btw, When did you last run scans for malware and spyware?

Hello,

I am trying to scan a document on to my pc, then I would like to copy & paste it on to Microsoft Works. Then i need to continue adding on more information onto that scanned/copy & pasted document. It will not let me do so. I've tried to scan it in all of the formats offered. Still I am not able to type onto the document. I do remember a while back that I was able to do so when I scanned my resume, saved it in Works and was able to update it, but of course, I cannot remember the steps I took. I believe it was relativily easy or I would not have been able to do it.

Thank you soooooo much in advanced,

Answer:Need help scanning document

Hi, you will need to use ocr software to do this. You scanner probably had a disk with such software the software. Depending on what you have, you normally open up the ocr programme, scan the document, let the software change it to text, copy the text into works and carry on from there.

Question: Document scanning

I am looking at purchasing a scanner with a document feeder so that I can digitise some documents and store them as PDFs.The scanner software provides the ability to scan multipage documents to PDF. However, some of the documents I need to scan are double sided and the scanner can't do these automatically. This means that I'm going to end up with 2 PDFs for each document - one containing the front side of each page and one containing the back.Does anyone know of a way I can automatically combine these into one file so that the pages are in the right order? Thanks,Gary

If you use Adobe Acrobat it should be no problem. Is there not an option on the scanner software to select "2 sided"?

I don't' know if this is the right place for this or not, but here goes.

A friend asked me how to copy his "Bowling List of Statistics" off of his scanner.
He was wanting to copy it and use the form on a weekly basis and update it accordingly.
I told him that I didn't know how, but I would find out.

Please feel free to move this post if need be.

Answer:Scanning document

Most scanner software will allow you to scan a document to a file, and "OCR" software will extrapolate the image to the closest thing to words.

I use Scanwise 1.0.0.8 which came with my Agfa scanner, and I can scan something in and send it to Print House, Word, Excel, Clipboard, Mail recipient, as a web image, to the printer, or save it as a file.

If I send it to Word or Excel, then the OCR software kicks in, and allows me to edit words, and manipulate the entire scan.
I think I have demonstarted that it can be done, but the question is more like:

What Scanner does your friend have, and what is the Scanner software and version he is using?

Which version of Omnipage did you try. No OCR is 100% accurate. Are you actually looking for a Scanner that is quick and cheap? Why do you need to turn those Scanned Documents into "Editable Documents"? Can you not just leave them as the Scanner produces them. If the files take up too much space ~ Scan at a lower resolution. Are you looking for a, space saving, way to Archive your Invoices? I haven't scanned anything in a while so when I got to your site I'm not sure on which forum to ask my question. I was scanning a test in using an older HP scanner. When I scanned the test into word, it first asked me if I was done or were there other pages (handy I thought); Well, the first test that I scanned had four pages. The problem was that when I scanned it in, some of my A,B,C, and D answers were not like I had them spaced on my hard copy of the test. Instead, answer B and C were together on the same line. As a matter of fact, all of the 50 questions had some kind of spacing problem. Could you give me and idea of what to do or at least tell me which forum to try so that someone can help me. The program I was using was paperport and the Windows OS was 98 S.E.

Hello,

A general query but one that I'm hoping you might be able to help with.

I have a HP Laserject M4345.

I want to be able to scan to file or find a cheap piece of hardware that will facilitate my aim.

I want to be able to scan a file to a folder and name it as something I define or scan it as the day's date. If there is already a file with the day's date, I don't want it to be replaced.
1-button scanning is the ultimate aim.

Does anyone have any ideas or know of any portable/low cost scanners that will acheive this for me. Or know of a method that the M4345 can acheive this?

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Document Organising and Scanning.

I run my HP scanner from Irfanview ..
The scan is opened in Irfanview before saving it anywhere .....
Where I can edit it as might be needed and save it where I want and with any name I want.

I can make a Desktop Shortcut that will open Irfanvew .... And run the scanner with one click.
I like this much better than using HP's software ... I use this method in XP and W7

Hey everyone. I have a question for all you fine software people out there. I am trying to find out if there is software that can take a document, scan it in to an application that will allow me to find different point on the document (X, Y).

Here is why. We are creating forms for insurance policies that require the forms to be created using software we purchased (DocuCorp) software. However, when creating one of these forms from scratch, we must precisely measure where each paragraph starts, where tables are created, boxes, etc.

Right now, we are having to measure using a ruler (very strange I know). This is ridiculous when creating an 18 page form.

Is there software that will pull a document into it, whether its a PDF, word, rtf, or even just a printed document that gets scanned in as a picture and will allow measurements of where things are on that document? I am talking like a document measuring tool, where I can move my mouse to a point on the document and it tells me precisely where that point is?

Please let me know what you guys can do for me. Any links would help. Free would be best, but I work in a corporate environment so price is also no big deal.

Answer:Document scanning idea - is it out there?

I'm sure Docucorp has had this question before. Maybe ask them?

Whenever I scan a document or text from a multi-funtion printer to the computer in order to edit it,it goes into Windows Photo Gallery as a jpg file.I'm not super capable on the computer and I can not get the scanned text to move somewhere to edit.Tried dragging it to Wordpad and Notepad, but when it opens it just looks like chicken scratches,it will go to Paint, and come up as a recognizable image, but I'm still unable to edit the text.I seem to spend hours going around in circles.Fortunately,my window doesn't open so I still have the computer,Vista and all.Can anybody help? Answer:Scanning A Document To Vista For Editing

When you scan an image, the entire thing becomes an image. There is no text in the image.... there is a picture of text. As far as the computer is concerned, there is no text. If you want to change text in an image, you need decent graphics software and manually remove the colors, lines, and squiggles that represent text.

Most scanners have utilities available so you could check your manufacturers website to see what is available.

(I remember in 1999 i used a scanner in which was very easy to scan and save as a word document)

I am using hp 1350 all in one, is there any way to do some adjustment in the software to get my work done. pls help

Answer:Scanning a page for word document

Iíve been generally pleased with the progress of OCR as far as accuracy. The versions that come with scanners arenít able to handle odd formatting like forms. But my experience has been pretty good with accuracy in plain text. You need forms capable OCR software if the formatting isnít pretty straightforward.

Most OCR works best with black and white rather than grayscale, but whatever you are using try the other. Some integrate and donít even give you a choice. You can also increase the resolution if you have the choice. A few years back my OmniPage OCR liked 300 PPI, but my latest Abbyy seems to accept higher.

Other than that I donít know much you can do.

I am not sure if this is a Windows 7 64 bit issue or a PaperPort 14 issue.

When I scan a document (I use PaperPort 14, if it makes a difference) the security properties of any new scanned document do not include "everyone" or "HomeUsers" (the PC is a WIN 7 64 bit machine on a home network and I have a second PC with the same OS). I have gone into the advanced security tab and the permission for HomeUsers" is shown as "Full Control" and I can get it from my laptop). If instead of a scanned document I create a new Word document and save it to that same folder the security details of the document show up as full control and I can do anything I want to from the other PC.
From an overview I am trying to scan a document from a all-in-one printer (Canon MP530) connected to a desktop PC running Win 7 64 bit and then thru the network I want to be able to copy\move\delete the scanned document on my laptop PC which is also running Win 7 64 bit and setup on the HomeUser network.

I would apprecitate your suggestion on how to fix the issue

Our office generates lots of documents. Purchase orders, receipts, repair orders, etc.

We are starting to look at needing a scanning solution to manage it all. Too much time is wasted retrieving old documents from storage etc.

What would you guys recommend for this? We would probably have an employee or two who as part of their job would scan these files in as they are generated. Then, we would like to be able to have them accessible to the different departments as needed.

What would you recommend for something like this?

When we looked at this a couple years ago, one of our vendors said they could do this and their solution included the scanning program doing some OCR which resulted in populating data automatically that you could search by: customer name, customer number, invoice number, etc. That vendor is not one we want to use though as they have fallen out of favor. That is the kind of functionality we are looking at having though.

Answer:Document Scanning Solution Ideas

I looked into this for my company and honestly it is going to be expensive, way more expensive than you even realize if you want OCR and such and don't forget this is going to require a ton of HD space on the server, we were quoted at around 8tb for the 30 something filing cabinets we have of old job history oh yea that would have cost us about $200k and taken anywhere from 1-3 months of zero access to the files as damn near every service that does this takes the files off site.

Honestly I would suggest just dumping anything you are not legally obligated to keep as most of that history will be useless to you after a few years anyway.

I have a lot of typed documents that I would like to scan and then be able to search the results when researching material that may be in them. I know that I could build a set of folders, name them and then name documents that I save to them but I suspect that may be more cumbersome than is necesary, so: Does anyone know of an efficent package that will do the above for me?

Answer:Scanning and document management systems.

Scanning will only produce an image or picture of each document. The first critical point is the optical character recognition program which miraculously converts the picture into editable text. The final point is to use a word processor (Word) which is more than adequate to carry out Finds and Searches for whatever you are seeking.By no means cheapest but the way my computer resolves this for me is Scansoft's Omnipage v.12 and Word. There are cheaper (and good) OCR packages just as Word is not the only word processor.

A friend has bought himself a Brother MFC-J4410DW multi-function Wi-Fi printer. He wanted it for a number of reasons, one of which was to scan documents direct to email (he's elderly and not very computer literate, and scanning to a file and then attaching the file is a bit challenging for him).
The salesman assured him that scanning direct to email was possible with this printer. Unfortunately he has now discovered that it only allows scanning direct to an installed email client - not to webmail - and he uses Gmail.
Does anyone have a work-around that would enable him to scan direct to a Gmail attachment, without requiring a degree in advanced computing?

I found it to be a very usefull tool for things like passwords and product keys etc.

Thanks

Answer:Office 2010 is great BUT it's missing MS Office Document Image Writer

It is not missing. It is just that there is nothing out there that uses the newest version. Go under Control Panel>Devices and Printers. You will see the Microsoft XPS Document Writer. That is the same thing.

The issue is specific to Office 2016 on Win 10 (Office 2016 on Win 7, no problem, Office 2010 on Win 10, no problem). Certain documents (reported by a user who receives documents with Japanese text, haven't seen it happen with others) have the layout messed up, a 2 page Word doc gets spread over 4 pages, and I've been given some sample powerpoint slides which have text overflowing the end of the slide.

Word doc was originally in Legacy 2003 format, I did manage to make this particular document display correctly by saving it in .docx format, then enabling compatibility changes via vba, setting to 2010 compatibility and enabling "Use printer metrics to lay out document" based on what I read here: BUG!! Word 2016 fails to print margins correctly / messes - Microsoft Community

The other sample file I received was a .pptx - haven't been able to find corresponding compatibility options in Powerpoint.

Wouldn't be quite so annoying if they didn't both display perfectly in Windows 7.

Answer:Office Document layout/margins overflow on Office 2016 + Win 10

Turns out it was some sort of font substitution issue. I noticed the fonts in Word/Powerpoint weren't present in the Windows font dir. Copied them over from another Win 7 machine, suddenly everything looks fine.

Not sure why Office 2010 did a better job of it than 2016, I couldn't really pick if there was a difference in the Japanese characters before and after the font, only that the page layout was stuffed...

I have Office 2010 Standard Open License Version installed on 7 XP Pro machines. We discovered, when trying to open a .tif file, that Document Imaging has been removed from Office 2010. I found and followed instructions in KB982760 from the MS web site. I got lots of parts of Office 2007, including Word, but still no Document Imaging. I tried going through Add/Remove Programs to add the feature; still no luck. Has anyone been successful getting Document Imaging from a previous version of Office to run under 2010?

Thanks,

Hi all

I am using Windows XP and office 2003. I am using Microsoft Office Picture Manager to view tif files.

PROBLEM:

1. I open a tif file.
2. I make an annotation change eg: Use the hightlighting tool to hightlight some text. Fine, no problem!
3. I save the document.
4. I close the document and try reopening it:

I get this error:

"The file selected is not a valid Microsoft Document Imaging file"

I recreated my Windows XP profile and this resolved the problem

That was two weeks ago........now the problem is back!

Any ideas?

I am wondering if anyone knows how to customize the "Open Office Document" program in Office 2000... this is the small program that archives shortcuts and has a tool bar on the left hand side with options that include : Web folders, Favorites, Desktop, Personal and History. I want to customize the "Look In:" tool bar...

Thanks,

Answer:Office 2000: Open Office Document Shortcut

I can't find a single way to change that setting. So, here's what I'd do.

Go to your (default) folder in Windows Explorer. Right-click it and hit Create Shortcut. Then, right-click the shortcut and hit Properties. Hit Change Icon. Give it the Open Office Document icon and also rename it to Open Office Document.

Copy or cut the shortcut.

Go to C:\windows\start menu and delete the old Open Office Document Shortcut and paste the new one in there.

When saving a Word 2007 document as a webpage (htm, html), an extra folder is automatically created besides the hmtl document itself. This folder contains background information like pictures, wallpaper etc. Is there a way to prevent that folder from being created in the first place? I've got Word 2000 on another computer, and when I save my word documents as html files over there, that extra folder is not generated. The only time that folder is created in 2000 is if my documents contain pictures, wallpaper etc. In Word 2007, it is created all the time, even though my documents are just plain text.

Answer:Solved: Word 2007, saving document as html document: how to get rid of extra folder?

Managed to find the solution, it was very simple after all. One has to save the document as a filtered webpage and click "yes" when a box pops up warning you that you will use certain featuers which are specific to Office2007, such as the background. Then the document will save without that extra folder and files.

Hi all.

The other day whilst in the throws of fixing another unrelated problem I came across a strange and annoying Word Document problem.

When I bought this word document up it present a very unusual icon. It was grayed out and part of the title contained a ~$ then the name of the document.

When I tried to open it, the word document only opened up to the gray page just before it should turn white displaying the text, and there it froze.

Nothing worked after that! The freeze was so bad that the only way to close the window was to turn the computer off at the tower.

After rebooting I tried it again 2 more times with the same problem freeze occurring in the Word document.

Today I again found another document that caused the same problem, this time the icon for that document was normal but right beside this icon was another malformed grayed out ~$(name) icon.

When I tried to open either of the 2 icons I got the same freezing up problem, just as before.

I tried a previously suggested step in that I opened "Word" and from there navigated to where the bad files were located.

In turn I only hi-lighted each, and at the bottom of that window clicked on the arrow for the drop down box.

I was advised that one of the presented options was to repair the file. No such option was present.

So there you have it. Any advice on this problem please?

Regards

Answer:[SOLVED] Word document freezes computer and document is corrupted

Hi all.

Just to advise that I am going to mark this topic as Solved......to a fashion so to speak.
I may resurrect it at a later stage if the problem re-presents it's self.

In a nut shell. I spent a lot of time today searching sites and performing tests including searches on my computer program.

I ascertained that all the aforementioned "defective " Word documents originated in the same folder. After performing several search functions with the criteria as ~$.doc no other such files were found on my computer, other that the already mentioned.

All tests suggested would not repair the said documents.

I have now deleted the offenders and I will monitor the situation. If I run into problems again I will re-post.

Thanks anyway.

I am trying to find a way to scan directly into all MS Office applications. I know you can set a default to scan into one of the apps and then change it if you want to scan into Excel or something else.

I had come across a website for someplace that posted scanning instructions for a school library. the instructions basically had icons setup on the desktop in order to scan into each of the MS Office apps (i.e. an icon for MS word, an icon to scan into excel, an icon to scan into Powerpoint, etc.).

The instructions told the user to just double-click the icon for whichever program they want to scan into and it would automatically scan the docs and open it up in the appropriate program.

My client wants to just pres one button and have it scan into the appropriate program like it seems it worked for the above example.
Any ideas would greatly be appreciated, I am at a loss.

I am trying to reduce the amount of paperwork in my office. I need to keep paperwork and have it available on my computer when I am away from home. I have about 50 files, each with around 200 pieces of paper in them, that need scanning and putting onto computer.

I have a Brother scanner/printer/fax/copier and a 3 year old computer with a 2.00GB RAM and 32-bit Operating system.
My computer is Conpaq. Windows Vista, Hewlet Packard SRS315UK with Inter(R) Pentium(R) dual CPU E2140 @ 1.60Ghz 1.60GHz.

I scanned about 800 sheets using the Brother scan to File which uses JPEG and am getting the ControlCentre3 Error message There is not enough memory in your computer. Please close all other active applications, then try again. (CC3-112-03031505). There looks to be a lot of memory left when I look at the Computer page off the Start button.

The documents don't have to be particularly good quality copies, just readable for tax and information purposes in the future. There are no photos, they are mainly letters sent to me that I need to keep. OCR won't work though, as the copies need to look like the originals for tax purposes.

Is there a cheap way I can save these documents to computer. I also have an external hard drive/storage device which has 359GB free space (of a total size of 465GB) My C Drive (local Disk has 202GB left from a total of 325 and Factory_image D local disk has 1.35GB left from 10.0GB.

For the last few days I have been experiencing a problem. Whenever I open a Text Document my Floppy Drive keeps scanning. I don't have any Floppy Disk in the drive and it scans for about 10 seconds. I have Norton Internet Security 2004 installed and I think it may be that the AntiVirus keeps scanning the Floppy Drive. I am not sure on how to disable scanning the Floppy Drive and if someone knows how to do it could you please instruct me on how to disable it. If there are any other ways to help me with this problem could you please post some suggestions.
Thank You!

I went through the following procedure

Launch Uninstall program, select Office2013, click change, select Add or Remove Features, click Continue, scroll down to Office Tools and expand it, select OCR.
In the drop down selection there are three small boxes,

Run from My Computer with blue background,
Installed on First use with 1 on it, and
Not Available with a red x through it.

I then clicked on the the box with 1 on it and it came up to the top of the highlighted OCR

Clicked continue and get the message "Configuring MS Office" . When it has finished, it states that it will be complete at the opening of the next Office program.

After that procedure, in Office 2007, when I went into Tools, I could see MS Office document imaging, but it's not there in Office 2013. Can anyone tell me where it's located?

The only difference in the procedure between 2007 and 2013 was that the former required the Office 2007 disk to instal the OCR while the latter did not ask for anything. If the disk is required for 2013, how can I get it to request it?

Hope someone can sort this out for me.

I'd like to think that the title pretty much explains it - but I guess it's a pretty elaborate operation that I'm looking for here, so I'll go into detail a little more. I do, however, apologize in advance for this hellishly long post.

I'm working as part of the IT Dept. at the university I attend, and our 'Scheduling & Activities' office for the entire campus is interested in transitioning our 'paperful' (if you will) office into one that would be almost paperless.

The problem exists in the filing methodology of the current secretary who runs the office. Everything (and I mean everything) is printed out and kept in one of the millions of filefolders she has in the many 8-drawer vertical filing cabinets that hide the actual walls of the office.

The problem with this is that with the current system, it often takes an hour at the least, and sometimes as long as a day, to find one single piece of paper. Worse yet, the office's secretary is the only person who actually knows where every one of those pieces of paper is filed at.

Bottom line: She's retiring next year. We have a nightmare of nuclear-holocaust proportions on our hands.

What we could really use is a system that does the following:
Can utilize a sheet-fed TWAIN compliant scanner to scan forms...
Then save each form to an Adobe Acrobat 6.0 PDF (or similar format), OCR'ing as necessary but essentially keeping the original formatting of the pag... Read more

Answer:Scanning/OCR/Databasing Suite? (For converting an office to be almost-paperless)

there are quite a few programs that can do what you want but you have created one problem, PDF files are not the easiest things in the world to modify, if this is data you just want to look at it will work fine, but ocr technology is not up for the job that you have set out for it, you are looking at tons of time. The big thing here is going to be is do you have someone that can work for upwards of 3 months scanning ocring and checking documents??? it is not an easy task even with an ADF scanner, i converted a 800 page book to digital format in PDF, with no OCR, and no database and/or searching capabilities, and it took me probably 2 weeks of str8 time so almost 100 hours of work for 800 pages.

I have Windows 7 and Office 2010.  Some months ago, I was doing a Windows update and lost power in the middle.  I believe the update included a major update to MS Office, maybe a service pack.  After I recovered, everything worked OK, but I no longer have MS Office icons for any Office documents (.doc, .xls, etc.).  I instead see a generic Windows document icon.

I've put up with it for a while, but it sure would be nice if I could get those icons back so that I could easily recognize documents on my desktop, in Explorer, and elsewhere.  Is there any way to restore them?

Answer:Missing MS Office Document Icons

Hi
Let's give this a try...

Click Start

Type programs and features in the search field.

Click Programs and Features from the Control Panel list.

When the Programs and Features window opens find and right click the Microsoft Office Installation entry.

The exact entry will vary by the version installed... mine is Microsoft Office Home and Business 2010.

From the displayed menu choose Change.

From the Change window choose Repair and click Continue.

Let the repair complete (this may take a few minutes) Click Close on the window and although not mandatory, reboot the computer.

Visit the Microsoft Update Site and install any missing updates.

Best of luck and Please keep BC posted!

I have a document that was created in Office 2003 and had document protection enabled. When I try and open it in Office 2007 the protected document settings indicate that there are no restrictions yet I am unable to edit the document. There are many of these documents that were created in Office 2003 so setting up an office 2003 machine would be very impractical for the random times I happen upon these documents.

This might be a ridiculous response, but here goes. What if you were able to save the document as the new Office 2007 format, and then resave it back to the Office 2003 format? Would the protection follow?

Microsoft Office Document Imaging is part of MS Office Tools included in all versions of MS Office since XP.
If you have the original install disc of MS Office you should be able to reinstall it from there (Put the disc in your drive and when the openning screen comes up it should have a "repair" option.

If you have Microsoft Word, search for a file named winword.exe. That's the file you need to start Word. If it's found, double click on it to run it. If Word opens, just make a new shortcut to the winword.exe file since your old shortcut apparently got corrupted somehow.

If you have a disc with either Microsoft Word or Microsoft Works on the label; yes, you can reinstall Word from whichever one of those you have.

Please post back with the results.

Hi,

I'm having an issue with word which I think is connected to outlook and frontpage.

Every time I open a document in Word I get a warning message that states:
"This document cannot be registered. It will not be possible to create links from other documents to this one."

I've already found this article" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q176444/
But it's little use to me. I'm running winxp, officexp, and setup /y doesn't work when I try it.

Now outlook doesn't use word as the editor, which I guess is not a bad thing, but it's also a symptom. FrontPage won't even stay open for longer than a second. I load it and it crashes.
In the technical 'send to' MS window it shows exception info : 0xc0000005 Address: 0x0000000067862a8c

I don't get an error message... frontpage just crashes.

Has anyone seen this before. The MSKB really isn't much help.... I couldn't find anything of use.

Thx!!!

I'm wondering what is a good software to install on our twelve new scanner stations I setup. The scanners are fujitsu fi-4340c that come with Omnipage16, however I am having stability issues with this program in testing (it is even documented this program becomes unstable after a large number of documents are scanned, but it does not give a number). Users will be scanners orders, shipping receipts, etc to pdf. No fancy features needed other than stable and ability to easily preview scanned pages to verify they are legible.

edit: OCR is a requirement in some departments.

Any recommendations?

Answer:Good scanning program for office use? Converting file cabinets to pdfs.....

I'd think an office that large would have an MFP capable of scanning to e-mail or scanning to a server directory. Our Canon does this, and my office only has 12 people in it. I can create a share on a server, and each employee can scan 1 to 150 pages at a time to a pdf file that they name right on the MFP. When it is done, they are left with the PDF file on the server.

I am finding it a challenge to scan with the 1100A. How do I do it? I use Vista and have installed the scanner as a Xerox (it does that) but I do not have a manual and cannot seem to get the instructions as to how to do this from HP? Do I need something? When I browse to Office on my computer and go to MODI and try and scan it says no scanner is installed but I don't see where to install one? And hand holding would be helpful, as I don't know where to turn. I don't even know where the scan button is on the printer.

Thanks

You could start by asking your question without using All Caps, which is the Internet equivalent of shouting.
